A classic steak house all the way down to the white tablecloth. The salad was cold and fresh. The drinks were mixed to perfection. The steaks? Sublime. Medium rare came out medium rare. It was tender and flavorful. I want to go back already.

Great place! Great service!! Really enjoyed my time their. Lunch was terrific and plentyful. On point with taste and came hot when served Can hardly wait to go back and try a STEAK Dinner. Its worth the drive from LA.

I've be coming here over 30 years. Made friendships, and life time memories. My son turned 18 Friday and wanted to eat at the Safari Room. Karen again under short notice, said Frank no problem for a party of 10. Food was great, service was superb. Drinks as always out of the Park. Great Food / Wonderful People. Karen and team thank you so very much again. Way back then, when "Tavern On The Green" changed hands. Safari Room has never let us down! Good food and service is also pretty good. I go there when I have to go down to VA. They have a large menu. Everything is great that I have had I really like the patty melt which is what I usually eat. The service is also great especially Bobby.

This place is OLD SCHOOL. Not much to look at on the outside. Actually not very inviting at all, almost like a private club etc. with no windows. I finally got the courage to go inside and was glad I did. The place was completely... empty, save a few regulars sitting at the bar top, but every table was adorned with white table cloths and perfectly ready for the dinner crowd. I was seated near the bar and checked out the basic steakhouse-style menu. I decided to go simple and try the burger and fries. It was a huge burger, and nice steak cut fries. The burger could have used a little more seasoning, but it was good. The fries were crispy and super-hot. My waiter was readying for the dinner crowd, but was attentive and we had nice conversation. TVs were on behind the bar so I was able to watch the game while I ate. The decor is late 60s/early 70s cocktail room/supper club, dark, no windows, but man is that cool if done right, and here, it is. Many places like this come across kitchy, tired or worn, but this was like taking a step back in time. It was clean, with a whole lot of cool vibes. I'll be going back to try dinner sometime soon. Everything about the place was OK. Not bad, not great, just OK, and our great waitress was part of it being OK. The food wasn't bad but not good enough that it'll make any of our party to want to come back.

This great little bar & restaurant does everything right. From the attentive but not overly fussy or too friendly wait staff to the well made Bloody Mary. I have been here a half dozen times and each is a special trip, as the only reason... to go to the San Fernando Valley is to drive thru it in order to get to San Francisco- except for the Safari Room. As of yet there's never been a bad meal to be found here. Breakfast is good and hot and egg over easy were made as asked. Lunch was a Patty Melt done to medium rare order and the fat fries were hot and crisp. Dinner was a steak and mash potatoes just like your favorite dinner house from 1967. Meat was done to medium rare and a fine cut. Overall the homey and nostalgic, yet not old fashion atmosphere is a pleasure to be in for an hour or two. More

This is basically a local bar hangout that has a restaurant attached to it. The style is very old school, kind of traditional steak house dishes. The problem is that they're just not executed very well. We pretty much stopped eating there because the food... was very mediocre to just not good. Do you like pleasant surprises right in your own neighborhood? Well, we discovered the Safari Room back about 12 years ago and we have been going there ever since. Once we walked inside we felt like we had been transported back in time to one... of the original authentic steak houses. But, the Safari Room has a lot more than a good steak. Their menu has great variety for everyone in the family and we have brought our family there for special occasions. I normally prefer seafood myself, and like to order either the Salmon, Shrimp Scampi, Halibut, Red Snapper or Catfish. My husband, Ted, usually orders either the Prime Rib, Tournedos of Beef, Veal Oscar or Osso Buco. Established back in the 1950’s, the Safari Room has been a favorite of families for decades for their great food and reasonable prices. But maybe the biggest draw of the Safari Room is the way they make you feel like family. Sometimes we like to just stop by for a cocktail and some good conversation. Over the years we have introduced several of our friends to the Safari Room who continue to patronize it as well. The Bar/Grill atmosphere is old time LA....The restaurant(grill) part is just so so. Nothing to rave about with the food, Most in the party had steak, too lean to be tender. Have visited here on several occasions and found it to be a great restaurant to visit . This time we were slightly disappointed with our visit . Service was sloppy , not as slick as usual . The bar part if the restaurant was quite... busy & noisy . The pea soup was really good that we had a 2nd bowl. Our main course was a burger and it was pink inside we asked for it to be well done ! It had to go back to be cooked again , it was still not cooked as we wanted it when we got it back again . My patty melt was again pink in the middle when we asked for well done . We were accidental tourists here. Due to car trouble, we had to pick a place other than where we were headed. This place, surprisingly had a 4 out of 5 star. WHAT? HOW? First off, the cushions in the seat of the booth we sat... in were pretty much non-existent. Very uncomfortable. Second, they do NOT cater to anyone with food sensitivities or food allergies at all! Third, the salad I had had MSG in it, because I ONLY get headaches when I eat anything that has MSG. Fourth, the food was just bad. Fifth, the waitress was not very nice. She kept eyeballing us like "we" were strange. HAH! On a positive note: Yes. this is an old school place. It definitely has character and it's "amusing", like a place that Quentin Tarantino would use in one of his movies. Will I go back again? NO WAY! My gut refuses. More

Many people in the las Angela's area told my I must try the safari room. Their web sight said open store 9 on Sundays for breakfast. Wrong. Hot there 915. Locked up tight. Went back at 430 for dinner. Was told the prime fib was... excellent. Again Wrong. It was ok but I would never get it gain. It was more like roast beef wasn't tender and really no flavor. The stuffed potato wad hood but could have mashed the potatoes a little better. Big lumps. Wouldn't recommend More

This restaurant offers steaks, seafood (everything was breaded), and a variety of old time favorites. Their menu's offerings date back to the fifties. I tried the liver and onions , a specialty. It was overcooked and stringy. Drinks were watered down.

Friendly neighborhood restaurant, that serves great Prime Rib, Steaks, Pork Chops and Seafood and has the best salads anywhere. The staff is friendly and helpful and if you have a desire for something that may not be indicated on the menu, all you need do... is ask, if the chef has the food item it will yours. They run weekly specials of different varieties, Lobster, Steaks and other culinary delights. They have been open for many years. I have been eating there on a regular basis for the better part of 30 years. I visit solo, with friends and family. This is a place that you will visit often. More

I love this place for the food and the bar but also the atmosphere...it's old fashioned like places I used to love...their menu is quite varied and one of their specialties is Liver & Onions, which my wife likes and I pass on...I usually go... with their Fish & Chips or even a Bar Burger which is a great value! The service is always good and the staff is friendly...most of them have been there a while which is a good sign. One of our favorites in the Valley! More

We rang in the new year at the Safari Room in West Hills Ca. A small simple menu with decent food and a friendly staff. A old fashioned bar and restaurant. Nothing fancy.

I found this great little place by accident. I was looking for a good place to find a good REAR BURGER, there not easy to find this days. All I was getting online was fast food burgers joints, (not my kind of food). So I... went to Steakhouses. It gave me The Safari Room. B I have s=end this place for 30 years but thought it was just a cocktail bar. Not so much, the burger was cooked perfect, rear as requested. Service was above good and decor was pleasent, Don't let the neighborhood, or the outside appearance put you of.This place is worth exploring. If the burger was that good I can't wait to try the steaks. More

The atmosphere is different with very experienced waiters. And there are no windows. But the place has nice african art. The steaks are to die for!
