The hit TV series Peaky Blinders has placed Birmingham and the West Midlands firmly in the national and international spotlight. But long before the BBC drama series aired, the region was already celebrating its unique and colourful past.

Who are The Peaky Blinders?

The Peaky Blinders were an urban street gang based in Birmingham and the West Midlands, operating from the end of the 19 th  century up until the start of the First World War. Recognised for their signature outfits of tailored jackets and peaked flat caps, the gang built themselves from social power robbery, violence, political influence and gambling to become one of the most influential gangs of that era (pretty clever eh?). So influential in fact, that writer & director Steven Knight and the BBC decided that they needed their own series.

What can you expect when visiting Birmingham and the West Midlands?  Unfortunately, we can’t promise Thomas Shelby himself, however we do have some amazing Peaky Blinders inspired experiences to get your teeth into… Immerse yourself in the raw and gritty atmosphere that breathes life into the show, whether by visiting the authentic Peaky Blinders set at the Black Country Living Museum  or embarking on a thrilling Peaky Blinders tour. The Official Half-Day Peaky Blinders Tour of Liverpool

The OFFICIAL half-day Peaky Blinders tour visits film locations within the city of Liverpool and across the River Mersey in the Wirrall. It operates in partnership with the creators of Peaky Blinders, Caryn Mandabach Productions and Tiger Aspect Productions, a part of Banijay.

The Award-winning TV crime drama Peaky Blinders follows the exploits of the Shelby family. Better known as the Peaky Blinders gang. The series is set in Birmingham and the story started in 1919, shortly after World War One. However, it is primarily filmed in Liverpool and various locations in the North West of England.

Liverpool was chosen to be the main setting for this hugely popular BBC series due to its well-preserved Victorian industrial architecture. It’s also a film-friendly city with countless TV and Film productions now using it as a base.

Fans have the opportunity to see the locations up close and hear anecdotes about the making of all six seasons of the show.

What you’ll see on the tour

The tour starts in central Liverpool and covers the story of the TV show and the history of the real Peaky Blinders. You will also learn about Liverpool, the Wirral, and the area West of the River Mersey.

During the Peaky Blinders tour, you will get to visit more than 10 filming locations from the show. You may be surprised to find how many seemingly different scenes were filmed in the same locations.

Sites you will get to visit include the Garrison location, the Epsom racecourse and Polly and Ada’s homes. There will be chances to get off the bus and see where Tommy was nearly killed by Father Hughes’ henchmen. You’ll see the location where Inspector Campbell has a secret meeting with Grace and where she was murdered. You will also see where Changretta was captured on his escape to America and then executed. We include locations up to Series 5.

At the end of the tour, you will be taken back to where the tour started at St Georges Hall, opposite Liverpool Lime Street Station.

If you want even more Peaky Blinders we also offer a Full Day Peaky Blinders Tour of Manchester. This tour includes entirely different locations to the half-day tour including the church where Tommy marries Grace and is available with a 50% discount for those who take the half-day tour in Liverpool. Caps on heads for a Blue Badge tour of locations that feature in the hit TV series Peaky Blinders .

Set in 1920s Birmingham, many scenes in the BAFTA award-winning drama were filmed in Liverpool and surrounding areas.

No less than Fifteen Liverpool settings have stood in for locations as diverse as London’s Eden Club, a Detroit Hotel and the Margate shoot-out between Tommy and Alfie.

Birmingham’s Watery Lane – where the Shelby brothers grew up – and Garrison Lane home of the eponymous pub, were also filmed in Liverpool.

Aunt Polly’s house in  Peaky Blinders is in Sutton Coldfield, outside Birmingham.  On our tour we will take you to the actual house used for filming in a model village near Liverpool.  Port Sunlight, was built in the late 1800s as living quarters for workers at the nearby Sunlight Soap factory.

A Liverpool City Region or North-West Blue Badge Guide will join you on your coach or chauffeur-driven vehicle to visit these iconic locations.

The Black Country Living Museum in the Midlands has been used in every series. It is instantly recognisable as Charlie Strong’s scrap metal yard, as well as the location of Ada and Freddie’s canal-side assignations.

Set in 26-acres, the museum showcases 200 years of history and has something for all the family.

Of course, the Midlands, and especially Birmingham, was the real home of the Peaky Blinders gang and you can follow in their footsteps –  walking through the areas where they brought terror in the 1890s. One of our Heart of England guides will show you the locations and introduce you to the “Brummy” culture and dialect that is at the heart of the TV  series.

Explore these Birmingham landmarks that inspired Peaky Blinders

Feb 3, 2022 • 6 min read

peaky blinders tour

Peaky Blinders has made its mark on Birmingham in more ways than one © Mike Kemp / Getty Images

As Peaky Blinders heads towards its sixth season, Birmingham continues to see an influx of tourists keen to learn about the real-life criminal gang that inspired the hit series. Writer Amy Poulton went to Birmingham to see what’s on offer for fans of Cillian Murphy and company.

My grandad recalls Christmas parties lasting long into the night, then the dark and cold walks home with his parents, “Well, my dad did most of the walking and carried me on his shoulders.” On those black December nights, my great-grandfather would point down to the shadows of Summer Lane. “That’s where the policemen would only walk in twos. That’s where you’d find the razor-capped Peaky Blinders!”

It’s likely these same stories that Peaky Blinders show creator Steven Knight was brought up on in southeast Birmingham; a planted seed that later became the premise for his vastly successful and award-winning BBC series. Available globally via Netflix, fans all over the world have gone crazy for the feared and revered Shelby family with their keeps-you-guessing blend of violence and cunning, as well as their underdog ambitions to ascend from backstreet gangsters to “legitimate” businessmen and women.

The show has also shone a spotlight on Birmingham , a much lesser-visited city in the United Kingdom in comparison to tourism powerhouses such as London , Edinburgh and York . But now, the slow-motion walks of Cillian Murphy and company through smoking streets and along inky canals have drawn visitors to the heart of England, to discover the real Peaky Blinders behind the series and stories.

A dark street in Birmingham at dusk

Peaky Blinders Walking Tours

“The Peaky Tours have always been popular,” says social historian and tour leader Carl Chinn, “But for the past few years people have been coming from further afield. Now, we get people from all over the UK and Ireland – often specifically for the tour – as well as from France , Germany , Spain , Canada , the US, Uruguay , Mexico … it’s great for Birmingham as well.”

The tour starts in the back room of The Old Crown, just down the road from Small Heath, where Carl passes around vintage photos, recounting tales of the real Peaky Blinders in what feels more like a Friday night drinking with friends down the local pub. Then, we take a walk around Digbeth, taking shelter from the rain under the viaducts, where Carl’s Brummy accent booms through the tunnel. This was where a real-life Peaky Blinder victim was attacked. The reason? He was drinking ginger beer instead of alcohol at his local pub.

Sifting through the truths and myths of the famed gangsters, Carl reveals that “Peaky Blinder” was actually a generic term to describe the sloggers who caused havoc in the slums of Birmingham in the late 19th and early 20th century – notably before the First World War, not after, as depicted in the series.

There was a real Darby Sabini, Changretta family, Billy Kimber, Alfie Solomon (rather than Solomons) and a Northern Irish police officer who came to Birmingham to rid the city the Peaky Blinders, which he managed just after the turn of the century. There was also a bloody gang war that took place over the racecourses in the 1920s, which involved a family by the name of Sheldon – the most obvious inspiration for the fictional Shelby family.

Men on horseback in Birmingham.jpg

The Black Country Living Museum

The Black Country – named for the black smoke of burning coal – does not strictly overlap with Birmingham proper. However, visitors will clock the historic streets and buildings of the Black Country Living Museum for filming locations, and Steven Knight has even dubbed the museum as the “home” of the Peaky Blinders series. The Boat Dock and Anchor Forge are instantly recognizable as Charlie’s Yard, where canal barges arrive carrying illegal cargo. The Rolling Mill, the Chainmaker’s and the Blacksmith’s all make regular appearances, while Canal Street Bridge was Ada and Freddie’s secret meeting place.

Far from your traditional museum exhibits in glass cases, the BCLM is made up of original buildings to explore and artefacts to handle, as well as interactions with actors dressed for different time periods who recall how life has changed over the years. Tuck into authentic fish and chips made the traditional way with beef dripping, order an old-fashioned draft ale or heritage whiskey at the Bottle & Glass, then pick up some Peaky merchandise at the gift shop. If you time your visit right, you can even attend one of the museum’s Peaky Blinders Nights.

The outside of the Peaky Blinder Pub in Birmingham

The Peaky Blinder Pub

Small Heath’s real Garrison pub, which dates back to the Victorian era and was likely a watering hole frequented by the original Peaky Blinders, has sadly stood derelict for the past few years. However, the alternative is The Peaky Blinder Pub in the city center, best visited on their monthly themed nights, where punters dress up for a true Peaky Blinders shindig.

If you’re looking for the authenticity of an historic English pub, you might prefer to stick with The Old Crown. However, The Peaky Blinder Pub delivers a raucous weekend night out, complete with friendly flat-capped bartenders, photos and memorabilia including a framed picture with cast member Benjamin Zephaniah (Peaky Blinders’ preacher and real-life poet) and – bizarrely – karaoke!

Other Peaky Blinders Attractions

It’s fair to say that Birmingham was slow to jump on the Peaky Blinders bandwagon, but the city is finally catching up with the cultural phenomenon, which has seen a 26% increase in visitor numbers to the city since 2013, when the show first aired.

The inaugural (and as Tommy Shelby would say) Legitimate Peaky Blinders Festival was held in Birmingham in September 2019. The BBC Birmingham & Black Country premises located in the Mailbox invites passersby to come in and have their photo taken as a Peaky Blinder, while creator Steven Knight announced in March his plan to open a 40-acre film and TV studio in the Midlands, which could bring the Peaky Blinders home. There is currently no scheduled return of the festival.

The Peaky Blinders series has not only captured the imaginations of viewers, but also the essence of Birmingham; the gritty pride, the bullish values of strength and hard work, and – as I think of my grandad perched on his father’s shoulders as they tell ghostly stories of the Peaky Blinders well into the night – the enduring bonds of family.

...You young men of the Tunnelling brigade, you are all dead. Not counted among the dead because your bodies were not buried with the dead. But dead inside...

Rambert’s thrilling stage adaptation “The Redemption of Thomas Shelby” captures the Peaky story, with stunning performances from Rambert’s dancers and an iconic soundtrack from a live on-stage band.

Opening in the trenches of Flanders, a personal story unfolds in post-war industrial Birmingham as the Shelby family navigate the decisions that determine their fate and Tommy is intoxicated by mysterious newcomer, Grace.  While Tommy is building his empire, Grace is operating as an undercover agent for Special Branch on a mission to get close to the heart of Tommy’s gang. As the story unfolds, hearts are broken, and revenge is sought. Key points of the story are illuminated by Narrator Benjamin Zephaniah (Jeremiah in the TV series).

Spectacular dramatization and breath-taking dance is heightened by a live on-stage band performing specially commissioned music by Roman GianArthur and iconic Peaky tracks from Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, Radiohead, Anna Calvi, The Last Shadow Puppets, Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club .

Throughout Rambert’s packed-out UK theatre tour, long-time fans of the TV show and audiences coming to Peaky fresh, were united in their enthusiasm for this adaptation written by the series’ creator Steven Knight with direction and choreography by Rambert’s Artistic Director Benoit Swan Pouffer .  Steven Knight has included exclusive plot and character insights that were in his mind as he was creating the TV show but never shown on screen, giving Peaky fans special additional rewards.

Fans of Peaky Blinders may also have spotted guest appearances in Episode 4 of Season 5 , when Tommy Shelby invites Rambert to perform at an important party.

10 things that need to happen in the peaky blinders movie.

Now that the Peaky Blinders movie is confirmed, speculation about the upcoming plotlines makes it clear how many questions must be answered.

  • Peaky Blinders movie set to follow season 6 ending, focusing on characters like Tommy Shelby in post-World War I era.
  • Tommy's purpose post-season 6 lies in redemption, moving towards a life away from crime and his violent past.
  • Movie expected to explore character growth and development with the return of surviving characters like Ada in Parliament.

Peaky Blinders is officially returning to screens with a movie, and based on the ending of season 6, there are many things audiences need to see in the Peaky Blinders movie. Star of the show, Cillian Murphy, will be returning as the protagonist of the series Tommy Shelby after Murphy's recent Best Actor win for Oppenheimer at the Oscars . However, Murphy has made it clear that he's happy to be returning as Tommy because his story is far from over, and Peaky Blinders wasn't ready to say goodbye in the finale of season 6.

The growth and development of characters like Tommy throughout the show was always what made Peaky Blinders such a compelling series.

Before the movie, the show's story left off with the Peaky Blinders season 6 ending , which left enough questions to justify the continuation of the Shelby family's story in the upcoming film. Though plenty of characters didn't make it throughout the seasons, as Peaky Blinders was notorious for killing off many central characters, the surviving characters are expected to return and show the audience what they've been up to since the last time the Shelbys were at war. The growth and development of characters like Tommy throughout the show was always what made Peaky Blinders such a compelling series.

Peaky Blinders Movie: Confirmation, Cast & Everything We Know

10 the time jump to world war ii, season 6 ended in 1934, but there's another war fast approaching.

In Peaky Blinders season 1, the audience meets Tommy and his brothers returning to their home of Birmingham after fighting in the trench in World War I in France. Peaky Blinders does an excellent job of weaving in historical context and facts throughout the series while making sure to dramatize events and bend history to best fit the narrative. However, the brutality of war and the toll it takes on Tommy and his brothers is not a fabrication.

It's frequently discussed that Tommy is a changed man when he returns from war, and that's what makes him such a good boss. In the finale of season 6, Tommy leaves his life of crime behind and sets off as a new man determined to do what's right. A large part of the season had to do with the rise of fascism in England, and Tommy directly opposes this in his position in parliament. Although he's supposedly living off the grid after the events of season 6, Tommy will likely have to step in when another war threatens his country.

9 Tommy & Arthur Reunite

Though tommy rides off into the sunset arthur's fate is still unclear.

Arthur Shelby (Paul Anderson) might be the oldest Shelby brother, but he was always in Tommy's shadow throughout the series. Tommy steps up to lead the Peaky Blinders and turn their gang into a legitimate business to protect his family and elevate their position in society. It's true that Arthur has made his share of mistakes and isn't the easiest character to root for. Arthur's quotes in Peaky Blinders show his strengths and weaknesses as a character. However, by the end of season 6, it seems he's fighting his drug addiction and turning over a new lead.

Tommy believed he had a brain tumor and was going to end his life to prevent the spread of the disease. It turns out the diagnosis was a lie, so Tommy decides to live and start a new life.

Where season 6 leaves off, it seems that all the members of Tommy's family, including Arthur, believe that Tommy is dead. Tommy believed he had a brain tumor and was going to end his life to prevent the spread of the disease. It turns out the diagnosis was a lie, so Tommy decides to live and start a new life. In their last interaction, Arthur indicates that he might take desperate action as well, but if there's a chance he's still out there, Tommy will surely find his brother.

8 Ada In Parliament

She was always the best choice to succeed tommy in the family business.

When Tommy leaves in season 6 to supposedly end his life, he mentions to his sister Ada (Sophie Rundle) that she should run to take over his seat in Parliament. Ada has always been one of the most political characters in Peaky Blinders , as her late husband, Freddie Thorne (Iddo Goldberg), was a member of the Communist Party, and she joined the party as well. Though she tries to stay out of the family business for most of the series, Ada can't help being interested in what Shelby Company Limited is up to, especially once Tommy has political influence.

The female characters on Peaky Blinders are some of the most compelling on the show, and watching Ada grow into a strong woman with firm convictions throughout the seasons proves that she shares Tommy's intelligence and savvy. Though she might not be the ideal person to take over the business side of things, she's the ideal person to represent Birmingham in Parliament because of how much she cares about the working class. However, her seat would put her at odds with one of the major antagonists of season 6, Oswald Mosley (Sam Claflin).

Peaky Blinders: 9 Reasons Ada Is The Perfect Replacement For Tommy Shelby

7 tommy grapples with killing michael, michael might have become irredeemable in the later seasons, but he was still family.

He's the estranged son of Polly (Helen McCrory), the Shelby siblings' aunt, who's reunited with her in season 2 and decides to join the family business.

Michael Gray (Finn Cole) is a worrying character from the moment he's introduced in Peaky Blinders , and he quickly develops from a thorn in Tommy's side to one of his biggest enemies. He's the estranged son of Polly (Helen McCrory), the Shelby siblings' aunt, who's reunited with her in season 2 and decides to join the family business. Polly is thrilled to have him back in her life but wants to keep him out of the criminal element of the Peaky Blinders. Tommy does his best to adhere to Polly's wishes, but Michael has other ideas about his future.

By season 6, Tommy and Michael are at direct odds, and Michael attempts to kill Tommy with a car bomb. However, Tommy finds out about this plot before Michael can carry it out and tricks him before finally ending Michael's life. Even though Michael plotted against him many times, Tommy will likely carry a good deal of guilt surrounding Michael's death, especially because he was Polly's son, and no one in the family was the same after Polly was murdered at the beginning of season 6.

6 Duke Becomes The Leader Of The Peaky Blinders

Tommy's firstborn son who he meets in season 6.

Tommy is not historically the best father in Peaky Blinders . Although much of season 6 is dedicated to him trying to find a cure for his daughter Ruby's (Heaven-Leigh Clee) illness, he spends little time with any of his children. However, after Ruby tragically dies, Tommy unexpectedly finds himself with another child, Erasmus "Duke" Shelby (Conrad Khan). Duke was conceived before Tommy left for World War I, and his mother died, leaving Duke alone in the world. After Ruby's death, Duke is found and brought into Tommy's life to give him some solace.

Duke is thrown into the deep end of the Shelby family and their criminal and business enterprises but soon finds that he has inherited many of his father's skills. In some ways, becoming the leader of the Peaky Blinders is Duke's birthright, and he immediately shows his loyalty to Tommy and the family. Loyalty is the most important quality someone can have in the universe of Peaky Blinders , and Tommy's absence means that Duke has the opportunity to step up and prove himself.

5 Tommy Makes Amends With Lizzie & Charles

After they leave him and try to start a new life.

Lizzie Shelby (Natasha O'Keeffe) was always in a difficult position as Tommy's second wife. Tommy never recovered from the sudden death of his wife Grace (Annabelle Wallis) in season 3, as she was the ultimate love of his life. The child that Tommy and Grace had together, Charles, was frequently neglected by Tommy because of his grief, but when Tommy married Lizzie, she took on the role of matriarch and became a loving stepmother to Charles. However, when she and Tommy's daughter, Ruby, died and Tommy started drinking again, Lizzie had had enough.

Due to Tommy's downward spiral, she takes Charles and leaves Tommy so she can start a new life and raise Charles away from the influence of the Shelbys.

Due to Tommy's downward spiral, she takes Charles and leaves Tommy so she can start a new life and raise Charles away from the influence of the Shelbys. She suffered an enormous amount of abuse and hardships at Tommy's hand, and her actions in escaping him and taking Charles with her were justified, especially considering Tommy's mental and physical state when they leave. However, if Tommy starts a new life and becomes a better man, part of that should be apologizing to both Charles and Lizzie and providing them with whatever support they need to have a good life.

4 Oswald Mosley Is Taken Down

The leader of the fascist party and enemy of tommy.

Oswald Mosely is one of the real historical figures that Peaky Blinders includes throughout the show and is a significant political rival of Tommy throughout seasons 5 and 6. In season 5, Tommy attempts to assassinate Mosley to prevent the fascist faction of England from gaining a foothold in the government, but he fails, and Mosley becomes an even more terrible enemy in the following seasons. However, he is a fascinating and compelling villain who gives a broader look into the historical events of the show.

If the Peaky Blinders movie is going to be set around the time of World War II, Mosely will have to be involved in the plot, as will the real actions of his political movement during this time. Part of the reason Tommy comes out of hiding and rejoins the world could be because of the momentum growing behind Mosely and the necessity for Tommy to take action against them. Concluding Tommy's story with a win against this evil man would be a fitting end.

3 Remembering Aunt Polly

The matriarch of the family and dearly missed character.

Even when she was no longer with the show, Polly's presence was everywhere, and in some ways, she was the closest and most important relationship in Tommy's life.

Aunt Polly was such a beloved character in the series that the Peaky Blinders Polly spinoff has been confirmed . Unfortunately, Polly never got the ending she deserved in Peaky Blinders because Helen McCrory, the actress who portrayed her, sadly passed away in 2021. She was a wonderful actress and brought Polly to life with grace and empathy on the show, and her absence was felt acutely in season 6. Although the series does pay tribute to her life and legacy in the final season, the movie won't be the same without her, and the story should draw attention to this.

Even when she was no longer with the show, Polly's presence was everywhere, and in some ways, she was the closest and most important relationship in Tommy's life. The Peaky Blinders movie will attempt to wrap up all the unfinished storylines and close the book on this chapter of the Shelby family's story. While Polly's death and absence were explained in the show, it wasn't as satisfying as it could have been, and Tommy and the other Shelbys will likely still be mourning in the film.

2 Finn Returning To Confront Duke

After being banished and kicked out of the family.

Finn Shelby (Harry Kirton) is the youngest Shelby brother and is largely forgotten about throughout the series. For many years, he was too young to understand the business and take an active part in it, but when he gets older it becomes clear that he doesn't understand how to be an asset to the family. Tommy takes an active dislike towards him, and it's Finn who ruins the assassination attempt of Oswald Mosely at the end of season 5. Finn is told that he must dispatch the informant who betrayed the Shelbys, but instead, he betrays them and Duke.

However, Duke is aware that Finn is bound to betray him and turns the tables, banishing Finn from the family. This is a harsh blow considering how new Duke is to being a Shelby and that Finn has always felt rejected and unimportant in comparison to his brothers. Finn's fate and the promise he makes to Duke that he will return and get his revenge is one of the biggest unresolved stories of the show. Duke and Finn are primed to be the next generation of Shelbys who succumb to infighting and power struggles.

Peaky Blinders' Movie Is Perfectly Timed To Set Up The Next 5 Years Of The Franchise

1 tommy's redemption, the uplighting end that peaky blinders always promised.

There are many theories about what will happen to Tommy Shelby in the Peaky Blinders movie , but his redemption must be the final act that concludes his character arc within the story. Tommy is an anti-hero throughout the narrative, and though it's impossible not to root for him, he's made some terrible decisions and hurt people he claimed to love. Although Tommy's actions are often understandable because of the trauma he's been through and the betrayals he's experienced, he's still a violent man who hasn't done right by his loved ones.

He was always trying to legitimize the business and turn away from a life of crime, but his temper and desire for revenge prevented him from being a truly good man.

Peaky Blinders was always interested in what Tommy was going to do next but put his ultimate redemption on the back burner for many seasons of the show. He was always trying to legitimize the business and turn away from a life of crime, but his temper and desire for revenge prevented him from being a truly good man. In the season 6 finale, it's hinted that Tommy will leave behind the violence of his past and become a new man, and the movie must make good on this promise, giving an optimistic ending to Tommy's story.

I review the ‘VIP’ Harry Potter tour in the UK – it’s crowd-free and comes with free champagne

EVER since the Warner Bros. Studio Tour opened in 2012, fans of the boy wizard have been flocking from all over the world to see the sets and the props.

The tour's popularity is both a blessing and a curse - with lengthy queues and large crowds becoming part of the experience.

Earlier this year, tour operator International Friends launched their Semi-private evening experience at Warner Bros. Studio Tour

However, one new tour offers to give Harry Potter fans the time and the space to freely explore the attraction.

Earlier this year, tour operator International Friends launched their Semi-private evening experience at Warner Bros. Studio Tour London - The Making of Harry Potter .

The tours operate every Friday evening, with guests arriving at the attraction at 6.15pm.

Tour groups are capped to a maximum of 50 people, giving guests the space to explore the Leavesden studio without the crowds.

While guests are provided with a private coach transfer from London , I drove to the tour simply because it was easier for me - and my parking was hassle-free to organise with International Friends too.

Once I'd met up with my group, just outside the towering chess pieces, we moved into the entrance where we were greeted by a member of Warner Bros staff.

As the last tour group to enter into the attraction, we avoided all of the queues, which can keep visitors awaiting for at least 30 minutes at peak times.

Our small group was then given a private welcome talk before we were led into the Great Hall.

Inside the Great Hall, I was given a glass of champagne (non-alcoholic options were also available) and made to feel like a VIP.

As I moved through the room, which was far less crowded than my previous visits, I was easily able to take photos next to some of my favourite sets from the film series.

After enjoying an extended amount of time in the Great Hall, we went on to explore other parts of the behind-the-scenes experience, including the Gryffindor Common Room , Snape's Potions Classroom, Dumbledore's Office and many, many, more.

My niece and I had plenty of time - and more importantly space - to look at the sets and take photos alongside our favourite ones.

There were no lengthy queues for the green screens either, so my niece and I were able to live out our dreams of riding a quidditch broom - all without spending too much time waiting around.

As our visit coincided with the Magical Mischief event , we were even able to make Howlers (the terrifying letters with enchanted messages) too.

From posing for snaps next to the Hogwarts Express to creating a souvenir video battling a dementor on one of the train's carriages, our three-hour visit moved seamlessly thanks to the lack of crowds.

At points, we practically had the space to ourselves.

Even our pitstop for Butterbeer, the syrupy butterscotch juice, topped with liquid marshmallow, was devoid of all crowds.

The tour starts underneath the giant chess statues

I would say we caught up with other visitors, who weren't part of the semi-private tour, as we posed for photos on Hagrid's flying motorcycle.

That being said, this was the only time we queued to take photos, so it wasn't a frustrating wait in the slightest.

Because the Warner Bros. Studio tour closes at 10pm, you'll start to hear announcements that the attraction will be closing from around 9pm.

Make sure you leave enough time to get through the entirety of the tour, without having to rush, and leave plenty of cash for souvenirs in the gift shop.

If you're travelling with young children, encourage them to save up their pocket money - as they'll definitely want to buy a sweet treat from Honeydukes.

Semi-private evening experience tickets cost £199 for a full-paying adult and £195 for a child aged between 5 to 15, with infants going free.

Tickets include entry into the tour, return coach transfers to London and a glass of champagne in the Great Hall.

While tickets don't come cheap, it's a magical experience for Harry Potter fans who want a crowd-free time at the ever-popular tour.

Tickets can be booked on the International Friends website, here .

Other visitors on the semi-private tour have also praised their experience.

In an online review , one person wrote: "I can’t recommend this semi-private tour enough. As we came in after the last daytime tour, we practically had the place to ourselves."

Another added: "The semi-private tour of the Harry Potter studios was a fantastic experience.

“Peaky Blinders” Movie: Everything the Cast Has Said About the Upcoming Film

From the cast to filming, here's everything to know about the 'Peaky Blinders' movie

The hit series Peaky Blinders might have ended in 2022, but fans are still hoping to return to Tommy Shelby's world.

Created by Steven Knight, the period drama was set in Birmingham, England, and followed the Shelby family, who ran a criminal enterprise that established itself as a major player in the city's illegal betting and bootlegging rackets during the aftermath of World War I.

The show ran for six seasons, concluding in 2022, and starred Cillian Murphy as Tommy Shelby, the leader of the Peaky Blinders. He was joined in the cast by Helen McCrory , Paul Anderson, Sophie Rundle, Finn Cole, Tom Hardy and Anya Taylor-Joy , among others.

Now, Peaky Blinders is making it to the big screen, with Knight telling Variety in 2021 that a movie was in "development." He added, "It’s a fully formed idea and it has a beginning, middle and end. And I think it’s going to be a fitting conclusion to the story told so far.”

In March 2024, Knight gave another exciting update for Peaky Blinders fans, telling Birmingham World that shooting would begin in September.

From Knight's comments on the project's plot to who would be interested in reprising their roles, here's everything the creator and the series' stars have said about a potential Peaky Blinders movie.

Creator Steven Knight continues to discuss the project — and wants to start filming in mid-2024

On top of creating Peaky Blinders , Knight also created the popular game show Who Wants to be a Millionaire , wrote the Princess Diana biopic Spencer and developed the Netflix series All the Light We Cannot See .

Despite his busy schedule, Knight remains optimistic about a Peaky Blinders movie. In 2022, when speaking to the Heart Breakfast podcast , Knight said he was almost finished writing the movie’s script, saying, “Yes, I’m writing it right now. I’m nearly done writing it, and we’re going to shoot it ... I’m setting up some film and television studios in Digbeth in Birmingham.”

That same year Knight and the Peaky Blinders cast did a group interview with Esquire to give an oral history of the series. During the interview, Knight said that the new cast members who joined the show in season 6 would be integral to the potential film’s plot. “In series six we're bringing in the new generation, and they are going to be part of what happens in the film, " Knight said. “I think it's finding those actors that you just watch and you think, there you go. There's the future.”

In 2023, he gave even more details about the film, telling the Radio Times that it is set during World War II and that audiences should “expect the unexpected."

Later that year, Knight told Radio Times magazine he was "just working on the final bits of it" and planned to start shooting in the middle of 2024. It looks like his timeline wasn't too far off, because when he talked to Birmingham World in March 2024, he said they were on track to start filming in the fall.

"We're shooting it in September just down the road in Digbeth," he said.

Cillian Murphy is "definitely" reprising his role as Tommy Shelby

Since the end of Peaky Blinders , Murphy has occasionally discussed returning to his memorable character — but only if it feels right.

“If there’s more story there, I’d love to do it. But it has to be right," the Oscar winner told Rolling Stone in May 2023. "Steve Knight wrote 36 hours of television, and we left on such a high. I’m really proud of that last series. So, it would have to feel legitimate and justified to do more.”

A few months later, Murphy commented on the rumored project again, telling Radio Times magazine in July 2023, “That’s probably the worst thing about Peaky Blinders – getting asked about the movie all the time!”

He continued, “I would love to do a movie if there’s more story to tell. I’ll wait and see but I have no update for you on that.”

Murphy's role in the movie was confirmed in March 2024, when Knight told Birmingham World that the actor was "definitely returning for it."

Sophie Rundle joked she'd be the "last" to know about the potential film

In the series, actress Sophie Rundle played Ada Thorne, Tommy’s sister. In 2023, when filming Netflix's The Diplomat , the actress was asked if she knew anything about the potential Peaky Blinders movie by the Radio Times .

“I have not,” the actress responded, explaining, “but actors are genuinely the last people to be told anything because we sit here and then we tell you. There are rumors, who knows? I think the appetite for that will be generated by the fans, I guess."

Sam Claflin said he "would love to revisit" his character, Oswald Mosley

Joining Peaky Blinders during the show’s fifth season in 2018, Sam Claflin played Oswald Mosley, a politician who became one of the main antagonists against the Shelby family.

During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live in 2023, an audience member asked Claflin if he had any information about the rumored Peaky Blinders film.

“I do not know anything,” the actor replied. “I believe it’s happening, I haven’t had a call myself. I would love to revisit that character ... that’s literally all I can say, unfortunately.”

Kate Phillips would be "thrilled" to appear in a movie as Linda Shelby

Actress Kate Phillips played Linda Shelby, the ex-wife of Tommy’s brother Arthur. When speaking to the Radio Times in 2022, Phillips spoke about the show’s finale, saying it was “completely stunning and felt so devastating and surprising.”

As for whether she'd be interested in joining the cast of a potential film, Phillips replied, “Of course, hell yeah, I would be thrilled if Steven Knight wants to bring Linda into the film. Yes, please!"

Zendaya's Best Tenniscore-Inspired Looks From Her Challengers Press Tour

Zendaya, together with her stylist Law Roach, has served some very on-theme tennis fashion.

preview for Zendaya's best red-carpet fashion moments

Every item on this page was chosen by a Town & Country editor. We may earn commission on some of the items you choose to buy.

Zendaya told Elle last year that her partnership with Roach is key to her entire aesthetic. "He's involved in every fashion contract, everything I do," she said. "If I have an opportunity where he can come with me, he’s always going to be there. He's always been my creative director in a sense, and he continues to fill that role, because it’s more than just clothes on a red carpet."

Here, see all of Zendaya's best tenniscore-inspired outfits for the Challengers press tour (and be sure to check back, because we'll be updating this story regularly!):

"Tennis but make it FASHION…." Roach wrote on his Instagram with this outfit. For a photocall in Rome, Zendaya opted for custom Loewe, inspired by a tennis dress. And yes, those are tennis ball heels.

While Zendaya's Loewe heels were custom made for her, you can channel the tennis ball heel vibe with these Cult Gaia sandals.

Zendaya wore these earrings for her first two outfits in Paris.

For her second outfit in Paris, Zendaya wore a matching set from Marc Jacobs's Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 1999 collection—a set that happened to be very much the color of a tennis ball.

While Zendaya's vintage fit is not for sale, you can recreate it with a charmeuse blouse.

For her final Paris Challengers outfit, Zendaya leaned into tennis whites in a custom Louis Vuitton gown and Bulgari jewelry.

zendaya challengers lacoste

For a photocall outside the Sydney Opera House, Zendaya wore custom Lacoste, designed by Pelagia Kolotouros and inspired by their Fall/Winter 2024 collection , "The Victory of 1927." Lacoste has long been a brand associated with tennis—it was founded by René Lacoste, a French tennis star, in 1933—so it makes perfect sense for Zendaya to wear on the Challengers press tour.

While Zendaya's outfit was custom-made, this Lacoste top evokes a similar fit.

For the first red carpet event for Challengers , Zendaya opted for a custom Loewe dress . The glittering green dress was meant to evoke a tennis court, and a silhouette of a player (plus a racket and tennis ball) was on the dress. She wore matching Loewe pumps, and accessorized with Bulgari jewelry.

While not the exact Loewe pumps that Zendaya wore, these are similar! Plus, Loewe's toy pumps are very in for tennis spectators—just see, for example, Emma Watson and Ariana Grande at Wimbledon last summer .

For press in Australia, Zendaya wore an Elisabetta Franchi shirt from their Fall 2024 collection , which took inspiration "from the timeless image of English college uniforms." She also wore Christian Louboutin pumps.

While the Indian Wells women's championship was not an official stop on the Challengers press tour, we're counting it. To watch the match, Zendaya wore an ivory Louis Vuitton zip-up with a matching pleated skort, and accessorized with the brand's Ellipse BB Bag . She also wore On Running sneakers, which were a collaboration with none other than tennis great Roger Federer.

Fun facts from our Moscow Metro Tours:

From the very first days of its existence, the Moscow Metro was the object of civil defense, used as a bomb shelter, and designed as a defense for a possible attack on the Soviet Union.

At a depth of 50 to 120 meters lies the second, the coded system of Metro-2 of Moscow subway, which is equipped with everything you need, from food storage to the nuclear button.

According to some sources, the total length of Metro-2 reaches over 150 kilometers.

The Museum was opened on Sportivnaya metro station on November 6, 1967. It features the most interesting models of trains and stations.

Coffee Ring

The first scheme of Moscow Metro looked like a bunch of separate lines. Listen to a myth about Joseph Stalin and the main brown line of Moscow Metro.

Zodiac Metro

According to some astrologers, each of the 12 stops of the Moscow Ring Line corresponds to a particular sign of the zodiac and divides the city into astrological sector.

Astrologers believe that being in a particular zadiac sector of Moscow for a long time, you attract certain energy and events into your life.

Paleontological finds

Red marble walls of some of the Metro stations hide in themselves petrified inhabitants of ancient seas. Try and find some!

  • Every day each car in  Moscow metro passes  more than 600 km, which is the distance from Moscow to St. Petersburg.
  • Moscow subway system is the  5th in the intensity  of use (after the subways of Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul and Shanghai).
