[ edit ] Plot

The day starts off well for Squidward. He is about to practice his Clarinet when SpongeBob's alarm clock (facing out the window) knocks the clarinet inside Squidward's mouth, and SpongeBob asks Squidward if he wants to go jellyfishing. Squidward tries to reply, but because his clarinet is in his mouth, anything he says is incomprehensible, and SpongeBob thinks he said "yes". After Squidward takes his clarinet out of his mouth, Squidward is constantly bothered in his house by SpongeBob and Patrick who want to go jellyfishing with him. Squidward, in an attempt to stop SpongeBob and Patrick from bothering him, tells SpongeBob that he should be at work, but SpongeBob tells him that it is a Sunday, and the Krusty Krab is closed on Sundays.

Squidward tells SpongeBob and Patrick to stay where they are, and goes out the back door of his house and goes into the Krusty Krab. He sees SpongeBob and Patrick looking for him, and goes into the kitchen. SpongeBob and Patrick are still looking for him, so he goes into the freezer. After SpongeBob and Patrick go away, Squidward is frightened to find that the handle is jammed and that he is stuck inside the freezer. He assures himself that someone will find him.

Unfortunately, this is not true, so two thousand years later, the door falls down and a frozen Squidward is defrosted by 'SpongeTron', a descendant of SpongeBob. Squidward finds out that everything in the future (except for people) is made entirely of chrome, and all organic life forms that aren't people (such as seaweed or kelp) are simply spray-painted chrome. SpongeTron introduces Squidward to his clones; X, Y, and Z. SpongeTron inform Squidward that there are 486 SpongeTrons in response to the question asked by Squidward "Are the other letters of the alphabet involved, here?", meaning that the English alphabet has been expanded, merged with another character set, or (most likely) it was hyperbole by the animators to make the future more complex. Squidward decides that he hates the future, so SpongeTron directs him to a time machine, which is actually a small room with a control panel. Squidward uses the time machine (shortly after meeting Patron, a two-headed descendant of Patrick) to travel to the prehistoric past, ripping the entire room out of the building in the process.

He meets Primitive Sponge and Prehistoric Starfish, whom are the ancestors of SpongeBob and Patrick. Squidward tells them about jellyfishing because they keep on torturing themselves with jellyfish. They seem to be interested, but are driven crazy by Squidward's clarinet, and chase after him. He goes into the time machine, but it malfunctions, and he goes to a very strange place with abstract shapes and no characters or setting (it is possibly an alternate universe, another dimension, or a time warp, but Squidward calls it 'nowhere'). At first Squidward is happy to be here because there is no SpongeBob or Patrick around, but he then becomes freaked out by the eternal nothingness and desperate to escape. After he finds the time machine, he begs it to return to the present, which it does, but Squidward finds out that in his travels, he invented jellyfishing. The episode ends when Squidward says "I'm going back."

[ edit ] Trivia/Goofs

  • The episode, which arises from Squidward time traveling and inventing the game of jellyfishing while seeking to avoid SpongeBob and Patrick as they want him to jellyfish with them, is an example of a time paradox known as a causal loop, in which a person is inspired or driven by an event to time travel and, whether or not intentionally, causes the event which will facilitate their initial time traveling trip.
  • This is the first episode where the title card is voiced over, something that won't happen again until Trident Trouble . This is also one of the 12 episodes in which the title card has an animation. The others are Pre-Hibernation Week , One Krab's Trash , Idiot Box , SpongeBob Meets the Strangler , Skill Crane , Ghost Host , Karate Island , All that Glitters , The Donut of Shame , The Krabby Kronicle , and the aforementioned "Trident Trouble," respectively.
  • The episode parodies the black comedy Futurama , where Fry, the main character, was frozen in December 31, 1999 and was released in the future. Squidward is also frozen into the future.

  • The calendar in the future says AD March 6, 4017.
  • The words "past" and "future" switch places from when Squidward first enters the time machine and when he enters the past. Additionally, nothing is written on the lever when Squidward "falls" into the time machine near the end of the episode.
  • When Squidward first arrives in the "Nowhere" zone, he has his clarinet. But when he begins running frantically, he does not hold his clarinet. When he falls through the roof of the time machine, the clarinet is back in his hand.
  • When Squidward said "alone" in the Nowhere Zone, other voices said it too. These voices were voiced by the entire crew of the show.
  • "SB-129" was originally going to be called "SpongeBob 3000".
  • The episode first aired on December 31, 1999. This could be a note on the upcoming millennium and new century.
  • SB-129 was this episode's production code, and the code was kept.
  • In SpongeBob SquarePants: SuperSponge, Chapter 3 takes place in the prehistoric Bikini Bottom. SpongeBob also uses a similar time machine to get there.
  • When Squidward goes into the can opener room, he looks like a spring. When he enters the time machine, he returns to normal.
  • It is revealed in this episode that the Krusty Krab is closed on Sundays.
  • In real life Squidward would have suffered from hypothermia from being in the freezer for too long.
  • Even though SpongeBob states that the Krusty Krab is closed the doors are unlocked.

New SpongeBob video game where Patrick is the star was made by Philly company

The Patrick game is designed as a sandbox adventure, which means players can roam the world of Bikini Bottom freely and goof around, causing things to explode or get “blasted off in the space.”

Still from SpongeBob SquarePants: The Patrick Star Game.

Patrick, the silly sea star from the Nickelodeon hit SpongeBob SquarePants , is slated to get his own video game in October and a Philadelphia-based studio is behind it.

SpongeBob SquarePants: The Patrick Star Game comes at the heels of the cartoon’s 25th anniversary. Unlike other games, Patrick is the star — no pun intended— and is designed as a sandbox adventure, which means players can roam the world of Bikini Bottom freely and goof around, causing things to explode or get blasted off in the space.

There is a mission and way to win the game, said PHL Collective founder Nick Madonna, but he didn’t reveal additional details, not wanting to spoil the story or overarching goal.

What he could say is players are given a “ton of tools” to explore Bikini Bottom. There are exploding pies and paint tubes, as well as an assortment of challenges from SpongeBob, Squidward, and Mr. Krabs, who are brought to life by the actors who voiced them on television.

Fans can also expect a game with several Easter eggs from the show that is very “goofy and funny and streamable.”

Paramount Game Studios, which owns the SpongeBob license, let the studio run with its imagination, said Madonna. The game encourages people to share clips of their play or stream their play on platforms like YouTube.

“I think that’s gonna be really special because your experience playing the game might be different than someone else’s, but if you’re watching someone play and you’re like, oh my God, I didn’t know I could do that, like you’re gonna go run to the TV, pop the game in and try it yourself,” he said.

Madonna said the studio has worked with a lot of licensed title games since its founding in 2013, including DC’s Justice League: Cosmic Chaos , DC League of Super-Pets , and the Addams Family: Mansion Mayhem .

Still, the Patrick game stands out in the team’s repertoire because many of the people who worked on it have an intimate relationship with the show.

“A majority of the team are in their 30s, so they did grow up with SpongeBob being on television and being at the forefront of culture,” said Madonna.

Even Madonna, who is 41, is also a fan despite having been older when the show debuted, calling it “weird and fun” and full of “staying power.”

“I think when you’ve been around that long you just kind of seep your way into people’s brains, and everyone kind of loves it,” he said.

The game is scheduled for an Oct. 4 release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.

SpongeBob SquarePants video game to be released by Philly-based studio in October

Phl collective is developing 'the patrick star game,' which takes players on an open-world adventure in bikini bottom..

Chris Compendio

Philadelphia game studio PHL Collective is making 'The Patrick Star Game,' which allows players to take control of the cartoon character in an open-world environment.

A new video game made in Philadelphia will take players under the sea to Bikini Bottom, the fictional hometown of SpongeBob SquarePants.

"SpongeBob SquarePants: The Patrick Star Game," created by the studio PHL Collective, is based on the popular Nickelodeon cartoon. The game, revealed Tuesday at  a Nintendo showcase  of video games, will be released Oct. 4 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, Xbox and Steam.

The game gives players control of SpongeBob's best friend, Patrick Star. The game is an open-world sandbox adventure, meaning it emphasizes interactivity, freedom and exploration. Players can pick up almost any item they find in the game's world and utilize it for "physics-defying hilarity."

Players can take on several tasks and explore familiar locales in Bikini Bottom. The game's trailer shows Patrick Star wreaking havoc by smashing and throwing objects, and even spinning around and knocking away bystanders.

Fans of the "SpongeBob SquarePants" series may enjoy unlocking numerous costumes and finding references to episodes of the long-running cartoon series. The show's original voice actors reprised their roles for the video game.

PHL Collective, founded in 2013 by South Philly native Nick Madonna, has several video games in its portfolio, including original games like  "ClusterPuck 99"  and titles based on properties like "DC's Justice League: Cosmic Chaos," "The Addams Family," "Ben 10" and "We Bare Bears."

"SpongeBob SquarePants: The Patrick Star Game" is being published by Outright Games, a British company that primarily publishes titles based on kid-friendly licensed properties.

The Bear Season 4 Gets Major Filming Update From Jeremy Allen White

Missy comes back to the cooper home in new georgie & mandy’s young sheldon sequel promo, the mcu already told you who its main anchor being is 2 years ago according to loki theory.

SpongeBob SquarePants has a confusing timeline, which can be somewhat justified by the show having a multiverse of its own, with different realities created throughout the series – and here are all 5 of them. Created by Stephen Hillenburg, SpongeBob SquarePants made its debut on Nickelodeon in 1999 and has since become one of the longest-running American animated series, as well as the most successful Nicktoon, surpassing fan-favorites like Rugrats and Hey Arnold! .

SpongeBob SquarePants follows the adventures of the title character – a sea sponge who looks like a kitchen sponge – alongside his closest friends (and a couple of enemies) in the underwater city of Bikini Bottom . SpongeBob is often accompanied by his best friends Patrick Star and Sandy Cheeks, his neighbor and coworker Squidward Tentacles, and his boss Mr. Krabs, as well as Mr. Krab’s enemy Plankton. Together, they have gone through all types of adventures and problems, and some of their actions have had big consequences in the series’ universe, creating different realities that ultimately form a multiverse.

Related: Is SpongeBob Movie: Sponge On The Run On Netflix? Where To Watch Online

Like most cartoons, SpongeBob SquarePants has a floating timeline , which is why the characters don’t age no matter how long the series has been active. This has also made way for various events that have inevitably impacted the timeline, branching out and creating different realities that, while they don’t affect the “main timeline”, they can create confusion among those viewers who have been following the series from the beginning. Here are all 5 realities in the SpongeBob SquarePants multiverse.

Mr. Plankton

SpongeBob SquarePants season 3 episode “The Algae’s Always Greener” saw the main timeline branching out thanks to one of Plankton’s many plans to steal the Krabby Patty and with it its secret formula. Tired of all his failures and of eating holographic meatloaf, Plankton expresses his desire to switch lives with Mr. Krabs, believing his life is much better and easier than his. Plankton’s computer wife Karen points out the “transmogrifier” he once built with the purpose of switching lives with his long-time enemy, and Plankton decides to use it. He then wakes up at Mr. Krab’s office, now wearing his clothes. Realizing that his invention worked and he’s now in Mr. Krabs’ place, he orders SpongeBob to send him two Krabby Patties for inspection. Plankton soon realizes that being the Krusty Krab’s owner and boss is not easy and ends up creating chaos by appointing SpongeBob as co-cashier and Squidward as a fry-cooking replacement. He also has to deal with his now-daughter Pearl and angry customers complaining about Squidward’s terrible cooking.

Plankton comes face to face with Mr. Krabs, now simply known as Krabs as he has taken his place in this timeline and is now going after the Krabby Patty’s secret formula . Krabs is stopped by SpongeBob but vows to return to steal the secret formula. Plankton realizes this life is intolerable for him and uses his machine to return to his original timeline and thus to his life as the owner of the Chum Bucket and Mr. Krab’s enemy.

This is more like a different dimension rather than an alternate universe, as it’s unknown if there’s such thing as the concept of “time” there and if there are other beings living in it. “Nowhere” was introduced in the episode “SB-129”, where Squidward accidentally locks himself in the Krusty Krab’s freezer and is found there, frozen, 2000 years later. In order to return to his time, SpongeBob from the future, SpongeTron, directs him to a time machine, which Squidward uses to travel to the past, before SpongeBob was born. Now thousands of years in the past, he encounters Primitive Sponge and his best friend Primitive Star, who he teaches to jellyfish. Squidward, believing he finally found peace, starts to play the clarinet, which drives the Primitives mad and attack him. Squidward runs back to the time machine and frantically jams the lever up and down, breaking it and making the machine send him through dimensions, landing in a world of emptiness.

Related: Why Squidward Has Always Hated SpongeBob SquarePants

With no other life form around, Squidward finally feels at peace and is happy to be alone, but the voices in Nowhere repeat the word “alone”, which proves to be too much for him. Now truly desperate, he ends up back in the time machine and begs for it to take him back home. The machine does so and lands in Squidward’s time, where he reunites with SpongeBob and Patrick. Nowhere is also the subject of a SpongeBob SquarePants fan theory that says this dimension is actually limbo, as Squidward couldn’t have survived all the movement and shrinking the time machine went through to get there.

Patchy the Pirate’s World

Another reality within the SpongeBob SquarePants multiverse is that of Patchy the Pirate (and his sarcastic parrot friend, Potty). Patchy – played by Tom Kenny, who also voices SpongeBob – is the live-action host of many of the show’s specials, and is the self-appointed president of the fictional "SpongeBob SquarePants fan club", founded by himself as he’s the biggest SpongeBob fan there is. Patchy’s world is a timeline/universe of its own because, in it, SpongeBob is a fictional character, though the one exception to this would be “SpongeBob’s Big Birthday Blowout”, where he finally met the famous Sponge.

SpongeBob-Free Universe

While SpongeBob is the lead of the series and is loved by many characters, they need a break from his craziness from time to time. The show has explored what the lives of SpongeBob’s closest friends would be like if the famous sponge was suddenly gone in a series of shorts titled “What if SpongeBob Was Gone?” and collectively known as "What Ever Happened To SpongeBob?”. Each short focuses on a different character and what their days would be like without SpongeBob – first is Gary, who after discovering that SpongeBob is gone, hosts a party with various snail friends. Then comes Sandy , who practices karate with a big fish but soon realizes that it’s much more fun to do so with SpongeBob; up next is Mr. Krabs, who is forced to cook the Krabby Patties and ends up burning down the Krusty Krab ; and last but not least is Patrick, who tries and fails to go jellyfishing.

Man Rayopolis

SpongeBob SquarePants season 7 saw a big and disastrous change in the episode “Back to the Past”. In it, SpongeBob and Patrick disobey Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy and use their time machine, which sends them back to 1954, where their favorite superheroes are young and Bikini Bottom is ruled by Man Ray, who can’t be stopped as Patrick eats all the tartar sauce that was going to be used to trap him. As a result, Man Ray takes full control and renames Bikini Bottom as Man Rayopolis.

Related:  SpongeBob SquarePants: How Mermaid Man & Barnacle Boy Ended Up Under The Sea

Non-Canon Universes

SpongeBob SquarePants also has its own non-canon universes, mostly those created by its video games. First is the universe from the video game Battle for Bikini Bottom , where Plankton created robots to help him rule the world; then is SpongeBob SquarePants: Lights, Camera, Pants! in which the producer of The Adventures of Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy is working on a special episode in Bikini Bottom and is using the locals as actors, and so SpongeBob, Patrick, Squidward, Mr. Krabs, Plankton, and Sandy compete to get a role in it, including that of supervillain Sneaky Hermit. Another non-canon universe can be found in the educational short “The Endless Summer”, in which Mr. Krabs takes advantage of global warming and SpongeBob tries to help but only makes the problem bigger.

Last but not least is the upcoming TV series Kamp Koral, SpongeBob’s Under Years . This spin-off prequel series will take viewers back many years to meet a very young SpongeBob who attends a summer camp appropriately called Kamp Koral, at Kelp Forest. The series is designed to connect with The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run , as the movie contains flashbacks to summer camp. One of the biggest changes the series will do to SpongeBob SquarePants , and which makes it non-canon, is Sandy’s backstory , which contradicts what the main show has revealed about her. With SpongeBob SquarePants showing no signs of stopping soon, it will surely continue to take viewers to alternate realities, futures, and dimensions, expanding the SpongeBob multiverse.

SpongeBob and Patrick (aka Tom Kenny and Bill Fagerbakke) preview hosting the 2024 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards

I n just a few short days, SpongeBob Squarepants and Patrick Star will be hosting the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards live , from Bikini Bottom, for the first time ever. Only of course it won’t actually be SpongeBob and Patrick – it will be Tom Kenny and Bill Fagerbakke, the actors who have been voicing the iconic characters for 25 years.

It isn’t the first time Kenny and Fagerbakke have performed “live” as their cartoon counterparts… Thanks to Nickelodeon’s ongoing partnership with the NFL, the duo provided commentary for the slime-spattered Nick airing of the Super Bowl, earlier this year. In order to do so, Kenny and Fagerbakke donned motion capture suits which allowed them to chat with real-life NFL commentators, while on-screen kids (and adults) got to see what looked like 3-D versions of SpongeBob and Patrick sitting in a booth and talking about the game.

But this year’s KCAs will take things to the next level, with the undersea pals hosting the whole star-studded show, from beginning to end. It’s a very different mode than recording in the booth, as they’ve done for a quarter century, as The Parent Watch found out when we chatted with the duo late last month, in advance of the KCA s.

“We play all around,” Kenny noted of the normal recording process. “And when we're recording SpongeBob we're not sitting down. We're flailing around and knocking stuff over.”

Added Fagerbakke on being locked into the mo-cap suits, “But we can't do that. We have to be more controlled. It's a different kind of way to perform our characters.”

To find out much more of what goes on behind the scenes to bring SpongeBob and Patrick to life, what their move is if SpongeBob loses Best Animated Show, and their thoughts on July 17th’s 25th anniversary of the series, read on.

The Parent Watch: Not to get too in the weeds immediately, but I'm very curious about the process of how you're hosting the awards. Will it be the mo-cap suits like you used at the Super Bowl? Is it pre-taped? Some combo? How are you tackling that?

Bill Fagerbakke: Well, at least we don't have to wear SpongeBob and Patrick costumes. It may come to that. But no, yeah, we'll be in the mo-cap.

Tom Kenny: Yeah.

Fagerbakke: And let me put on the suit and do a car show. Why not? Have you ever done a car show? You ever done a car show?

Kenny: No. No. My band has played in some, but yeah. Alex, I'll say like-

Fagerbakke: [whispers] This is Tom Kenny talking.

Kenny: Oh, hi. Yeah, this is Tom Kenny.

Fagerbakke: I'm Bill Fagerbakke.

Tom Kenny: The manly voice is Bill, the adenoidal nasal voice is Tom Kenny.

[Laughs] Thank you.

Kenny: Yeah, man. First of all, yes, we've been doing interviews all day, but this is the first Charlie's Angels style when we've had just a phone on a table and we're talking to it. Here's your assignment, Angels. But yeah, it's going to be the mo-cap suits, like the Super Bowl, same technology, and this is a direct outgrowth of that because it worked well, and of course, you want to be in show business anytime something works, let's do more of it.

Fagerbakke: Sure. And I'm sure they're writing it as we speak.

Kenny: Yeah, maybe. But hopefully they're also going, "Ah, those guys riffed pretty good. Let's leave them to their own devices to a large degree." That's always better. But so yes, those mo-cap suits from the Super Bowl, me and Bill wired into them, hardwired into them, and SpongeBob and Patrick commenting on the KCAs in real time. What could possibly go wrong?

Staying on the technical end for a second. Obviously you guys are professionals and have been doing this for a really long time, but having those mo-cap suits on, does that physically change how you approach the voices at all?

Fagerbakke: Well, they're a constant reminder that how you're moving is relevant to what people are seeing. So yeah, it does affect what you do vocally because you're using your body more specifically. When we're recording a cartoon, Tom and I are both very physical in the booth, so we use our bodies locked.

Kenny: We play all around. And when we're recording SpongeBob we're not sitting down. We're flailing around and knocking stuff over.

Fagerbakke: It's a workout. Yeah.

Kenny: It's a workout.

Fagerbakke: It's an awesome workout. But we can't do that. We have to be more controlled. It's a different kind of way to perform our characters.

Kenny: And also what our bodies are doing when we're recording an episode, whatever it takes to get to that vocal performance we can do in the booth, because what our bodies are doing doesn't matter, right? It's just whatever the voice recording is, [that’s] what it's about. And with this, it's a little different. Your body does matter, and there's certain parameters of movements that the motion capture suit can handle and some stuff it can't. The main difference is that you're surrounded by this kind of Daytona 500 meets NASA [group] of people that are messing with your suit and tweaking it, like, hold on, adjusting the camera-

Fagerbakke: Poking at you.

Kenny: Because the suit requires a field time futzing, and those mother futzers are really good at that.

Fagerbakke: And you also, you don't want to waste the opportunity to use the technology to work for what we're doing. So you want to try using your arms and want to try, how do I move my head here?

Kenny: Yeah. What can I do? What can't I do?

Fagerbakke: What will accentuate and help everything work better?

Kenny: Yeah, if you go the other way, when you do that, you're off camera. SpongeBob and Patrick can't turn into one another, because one of them disappears. I don't know how inside baseball you wanted to go, but this is pretty inside baseball.

No, no, I love it. To keep on this same bent, you've been looping your voices to the show for years at this point, 25 years actually this month. But when you're performing live, are you thinking about them on screen, how SpongeBob moves, how Patrick moves? Or is there variation there? Because obviously you're not cartoons.

Fagerbakke: Well, yeah, that is a part of it. You have to be cognizant of that. And so that's where an extra part of your brain has to be employed, which can be frankly inhibiting a little bit because when we're recording a cartoon, you really lose yourself. You lose yourself in just what is happening vocally. And so the performance is purely vocal. Anything that happens with your body that is a part of that; while being crucial, is also irrelevant. Now, that's no longer the case, so it's a different kind of performance.

Kenny: But that being said, SpongeBob and Patrick, we know them. And like you said, we've been sharing headspace with those characters for a quarter of a century. So in a way, you just have to let yourself, as a performer, give yourself over to be taken over by those characters. Bill and Tom got to kind of go away. Yeah, Bill and Tom have to banish themselves and then just give your brain over to these characters. But you are also ad-libbing in real time in character, so that's a little of a tightrope act, for sure. Because if you say everything that comes into your head in the moment, there might be some other guy doing SpongeBob on Monday.

As wise guys and an ex-standup comedian myself, it has to be stuff that SpongeBob and Patrick would say, not stuff that Bill and Tom would think. So, it's a really interesting multifaceted juggling act, and we've only done it – well, Bill's done it twice at football games, one of them being the Super Bowl, and I've only done it once at the Super Bowl. But I feel like it went well, and I think we'll get the hang of it even better this time.

Fagerbakke: We'll have rehearsals to really work on the physical realities. And I'm looking down at the phone as we do this interview. And are these new pants, Tom?

Kenny: These are new pants.

Fagerbakke: Those are really nice. I like those, man.

Kenny: Thank you. Thank you.

Kenny: I wish Alex could see them.

I do too. I'll write “nice pants” in the transcript, so everybody knows the pants are nice.

Kenny: Yes, yes. Nice pants, and wife pants, because she buys all my clothes for me.

Are the presenters going to be in the same room as you? Is it basically being done on a stage, but with you replaced with Patrick and SpongeBob? Or how's that part going to work?

Kenny: I defer to you, Bill. We haven't really had a tech rehearsal yet. Now I know if the Super Bowl is an indication, we were actually in the broadcast room with a big giant window that looked directly onto the football field where they were playing the Super Bowl. Here's us sitting at a table, and then in front of us is this big window and there's the biggest football game of all time.

Fagerbakke: And we were sitting next to Nate Brooks and Noah Eagle, and ironically, they had to close the curtains on the window overlooking the field because they didn't like the optics of people being able to see in at what was going on in there. So we actually were at the stadium in a press box overlooking the field, watching the game completely on a monitor that was planted in front of us.

Kenny: Yeah, yeah, you're right about that. Yeah, look out the window. And when the game started, they closed the drapes. I'm like, "F***. We used to be in front at the Super Bowl. Close the curtain. Noah."

Fagerbakke: Because we had to have all the noise to-

Kenny: Yeah, there was a lot of noise.

Fagerbakke: So we'll see. We may very well be, I suspect, in some kind of a technical truck right next to the facility.

Kenny: The funny thing is, for years I've been the announcer at the Kids' Choice Awards , the booming announcer guy. “We'll be back with your favorite star when the Kids' Choice Awards returns.” That kind of stuff. But I can't do that this year because I'm being SpongeBob, so I'm going to miss that. Because I really like that job. I don't know if they're going to have us offsite or onsite having been at both the Super Bowl and the Kids' Choice Awards , they're equally loud. Like Bill alluded to earlier, yeah, trying to ad-lib and be in the moment when there's this super loud rock concert level of cacophony happening… It's real concentration. You know what I mean? You're like, "Wow, this ain't for babies." You know what I mean? This ain't for bubble blowing babies. This is real.

I'm going to ask a hard question here, but SpongeBob is nominated for Best Cartoon. What is your move if you do win – or if you don't win?

Fagerbakke: Well, it's an honor just to be nominated.

Kenny: Well, it's an honor just to be nominated. We have won a lot of blimps in the past. My move, if we do win, my move is to cheer the whole cast and crew on loudly. If we don't win, my move is to feverishly, take off my motion capture suit and stalk out of the Kids' Choice Awards in a huff and never come back.

Good. I'm selfishly hoping you don't win, just because I want to see that.

Kenny: Oh, wow. I want to see that tantrum.

I want to see that happen. I want that TV moment. But last thing to ask you guys, this is part of the overall celebration of SpongeBob that's rolling out over the course of the year, but the actual 25th anniversary is on July 17th. Do you have plans for how you'll be celebrating it?

Kenny: I am going skydiving that day. No, not really. No. I mean, the Kids' Choice Awards is probably our big celebration of it. I think probably the actual anniversary on the 17th, I will take a moment to reflect on the luck and good fortune that this thing has brought into my life and the people that it's brought into my life. Just a quiet moment of eyes closed. Gratitude, I think will work for me.

Fagerbakke: Thank you for not using the term manifesting.

Kenny: You manifest the s*** out of me.

Fagerbakke: I just had my first grandchild, I'll think about as happy as I was watching SpongeBob with my daughters in 1999. I will be equally happy anticipating watching it with the little guy in two, four years.

Kenny: And by that time, that little grandchild will be going, "That's not you, Dad. That's AI." Grandpa that's AI, that's not you!

NOAA discovers 'real life' SpongeBob and Patrick Star deep in the Atlantic

Now, that bad news: In the real world, Patrick Star might be about to eat his BFF SpongeBob.

Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? SpongeBob SquarePants , duh, whose best pal, Patrick Star, lives under a nearby rock. But maybe the two animated BFFs of Bikini Bottom have real-life counterparts who reside deep under the waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Marine biologist Christopher Mah tweeted out an image captured by a NOAA remotely operated deep-sea vehicle on Tuesday, and the resemblance to SpongeBob and Patrick was clear.

The two creatures were spotted palling around on the side of an underwater mountain called Retriever Seamount, 200 miles (320 km) east of New York City, Business Insider reports .

Mah, a biologist who specializes in sea stars, told Insider that the image stood out to him because "most depictions of Patrick and SpongeBob are incorrect."

Most sea sponges in the deep sea are orange or white, not yellow like this one, he said. The sponge in question belongs to the genus Hertwigia, and the bright pink sea star nearby is known as a Chondraster star.

Now the bad news: Mah said Chondraster stars like to eat sea sponges, so the tiny Patrick could be about to chomp on his SpongeBob pal.

Back in the animated world, Patrick now has his own spinoff show, The Patrick Star Show , which debuted on Nickelodeon on July 9.
