Blue Mountains & Collingwood Brewery Tour

Leave your worries behind and join a group of friends on a brewery tour lasting 3.5 hours.  Tour is all inclusive for alcohol (Does not include food, but food can be ordered at your own cost).

We have Tasting flights ready for you at at each brewery and will educate you as to why it tastes so good, as well as entertain you along the way.  

Groups of 8+ (8 Weekdays, 10+ Saturday or when available) are private when requested at the time of booking and can include a custom pickup/drop off across Collingwood and the Blue Mountains.  Please reach out to us for private bookings or if you have just booked a group of 10+ online so we can make it private (Please note if you book a public tour online there may be other guests already booked).

Sample Public Tour Schedule - What to expect on your Collingwood Brewery Tour

3:45: Meet at Blue Mountain Village 156 Jozo Weider Blvd, near the Village info hut.   Orientation, what to expect, housekeeping.  If someone is not here yet, we call or text them to remind you we leave by 4:00pm sharp.

4:00: Head for our First Brewery in either Blue Mountains or Collingwood in the Canadian Craft Tours minibus (Or Beer Bus).  Introduction of guests to each other, an overview of craft beer, wine spirits in Ontario.  Intro to craft beer in Ontario.

5:00 - 6:00pm: 2nd Brewery introduction, Behind the Scenes Tour & Tasting Flight, tasting flight beer synopsis. If the group wants to eat we recommend ordering food right when you sit down.  You can look at the menus online before you arrive at the brewery.

6:15 - 7:00pm: 3rd Brewery introduction, more beer knowledge & tasting flight with your group.

7:15 - 7:30pm: Head back to the drop off point at your accommodation or Blue Mountain Village

Brewery Tour Charlottesville / Blue Mountain Brewery

It's Beer O'Clock somewhere!!

And that somewhere couldn't get any better than here at Blue Mountain Brewery!! Talk about a place that has EVERYTHING from great brews, amazing food, fantastic views, awesome staff and of course, cornhole. Can you even call yourself a brewery if you don't have cornhole? Probably not!

GREAT BEER BEGINS WITH AN INSPIRED TEAM

Founders Taylor and Mandi Smack and Matt Nucci opened Blue Mountain Brewery in 2007, with a vision to bring the brewery experience out of the normal hustle and bustle of an urban environment. With a relaxed vibe and stunning views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, we invite you to enjoy our varied range of beers and farm-to-table food in Nelson County, where life is a little slower and a lot more fun.

Taylor Smack began his brewing career interning at South Street Brewery in late 1999 before moving to Chicago and attending the Siebel Institute of Technology, the country’s oldest school for brewing. He became the head brewer for the Goose Island brewpubs in Chicago and eventually moved back home to Virginia to man the helm as head brewer of South Street, where he stayed for five years before leaving to found Blue Mountain.

After time in the Peace Corps in Romania, Mandi Smack spent most of her 20's in the publishing business. She and Taylor met in Chicago through a mutual brewer friend and began dreaming of opening their own brewery one day.

Mandi was also on the opening staff of the Outer Banks Brewing Station in North Carolina. For the few years leading up to opening Blue Mountain, Mandi was the business manager for several publications in Charlottesville.

Along with being a homebrewing compatriot of Taylor in the late 90’s, Matt Nucci joined the founding team of Blue Mountain after several years with Greenberry’sCoffee and Tea Company. Matt ran the roasting warehouse and became the go-to guy for setting up new Greenberry’s franchise locations in the mid-2000s.

For 11 years the three of us have invited everyone from near and far to come out and enjoy the relaxed setting of our rural brewery. As the Blue Mountain team has grown from just three to now over 120 wonderful people, it takes the collective passion and energy of all of us to keep our dream alive.We invite you to join us for a pint or two with your friends and family sometime soon!

LEADING THE CRAFT BEER REVOLUTION

Blue Mountain Brewery sits in the shadow of Appalachia’s Blue Ridge Mountains in Afton, Virginia. We are a farm brewery, growing our own hops, and proudly craft real American beer inspired by thousands of years of tradition but not limited by convention.

FAMILY & PET FRIENDLY

Our restaurant is very family friendly and we have a great kids menu. We also have a pet friendly section outdoors next to our patio. All pets must be on a leash and outside at all times.

We sell 6 packs, 750ml bottles and growlers to go at the brewery! We also offer a large selection of Blue Mountain Brewery merchandise.

Brewery tours are offered on Saturdays from 12pm-4pm and are complimentary. They last about 20 minutes and reservations are not required. Please let the host or your server know that you would like a tour and they will take you back to the brewery as soon as a brewer is available.

Blue Mountain Brewery

While no one could argue that route 151 is best known for its wineries there is no getting around the fact that Blue Mountain Brewery is the crown jewel that sits atop the hill luring in hungry and thirsty patrons with its promise of good food and full-service tap room.  

One of the first pioneers of Nelson Counties rural breweries Blue Mountain brings a lot to the table. The menu offers a diverse selection of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, and specialty pizzas, most of which are available in gluten free options.  If you are not a beer fan no worries. Local Kombucha, cider and red, white and sparkling wines are also available.  

However, if you visit this brew-house it is likely because you love beer. Year-round classics like their noble hop-laced Pre-Prohibition Lager, German Ale, Orange Infused IPA and Pale Ale are almost always on tap. If you can’t decide which to choose then try a sampler flight encompassing each of their ten draft selections.

Blue Mountain Brewery

Opened in 2007 as the first brewery in Nelson County, Blue Mountain Brewery is a unique destination in the heart of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains. All our ales and lagers are brewed, bottled, canned and kegged onsite in Afton or down the road in Arrington at our Blue Mountain Barrel House. We have made our home for both facilities in beautiful, friendly Nelson County and are proud to be the pioneers of the Virginia rural brewery. Our two breweries will craft 10,000 barrels (310,000 gallons) of Virginia’s finest beer this year, made from deep well water and the best barley malt and hops the world has to offer.

The Collingwood Brewery

Hop on the Beer Bus for a custom beer tour with The Collingwood Brewery! With a strong emphasis on classic brewing traditions and classic styles of beer, The Collingwood Brewery has been providing locals and visitors alike exceptional, locally made beers reminiscent of evenings at an English pub. The Collingwood Brewery has never forgotten its roots: each year, the 1854 Anniversary Series celebrates the founding of the original Collingwood Brewery, established more than 150 years ago.

Side Launch Brewing Company

Side Launch Brewing Company was named after the old Collingwood practice of launching a newly built ship into the water sideways, rather than bow or stern first. Our friends at Side Launch Brewing Company produce great brews that are never filtered or pasteurized, leaving behind a flavour as unique as a its name. With The Beer Bus, you’ll get to experience a Side Launch, Collingwood style.

Northwinds Brewhouse and Kitchen

Northwinds Brewhouse and Kitchen is a place that creates real food and beer. Our menu and beverage options are carefully designed to treat you and your belly very well. We have two locations and are locally owned and operated. Our menu offerings are made on site, using fresh and local ingredients. All Northwinds beer is produced on-site in small batches to ensure your beer is ultra-fresh.

Creemore Springs Brewery

Hop on the Beer Bus and head to the historic town of Creemore for a all-inclusive brewery tour of its namesake brewery. In 1987, Creemore opened up its doors, becoming an instant source of hope for Ontario craft beer drinkers by introducing something different than your usual brew. 30 years later, Creemore is still producing one of Ontario’s finest craft beers with water sourced from their own local spring and beer fired up in a classic copper kettle.

Guided Brewery Tours are available select Fridays and Saturdays! Explore the journey of Blue Moon, from our humble beginning and inner workings of the brewery to fun facts about our brand and a hand-selected tasting in our VIP tasting room. Tickets are required for all tour guests, including those under 21 of years of age (Must be 21+ to enjoy the tasting). (Our brewery hallway, including a self-guided tour, is open to the public at all times outside of scheduled guided tours).

Event reservations are accepted up to 2 weeks prior to the date of your event. Although we do our best to respond to event requests in a timely manner, we do recommend requests are submitted up to 6 months in advance.  Event inquiries exceeding the 6-month window may have a delay in response, however we will get back to you. If you are interested in a reservation for our Brewer's Table or other tables in our main dining room, please call our front desk at 303-728-2337 for availability. The request form below is strictly for event requests including our Private Event Room, North Side Space (semi-private) and Full Restaurant Buyouts. We are NOT booking events Sundays & Mondays at this time.

Private Event Room

Our Private Event Room is located in the heart of the brewery and offers a full view of our brewing equipment in a warm intimate space. The room accommodates up to 50 guests seated and 65 guests in a reception style mix of seated and standing/cocktail tables. The room is equipped with a screen, projector and access to cable (HDMI & VGA provided), 1 lavalier microphone and separate sound input. This space is ideal for rehearsal dinners, meetings, luncheons, showers, networking events and most intimate private gatherings. Room dimensions are 22’ x 37.5’.  A deposit as well as a Food & Beverage minimum are required to book this space. 

NORTH SIDE SPACE

(Tuesday through Thursday only at this time)

Our North Side Space offers a large open area in our main dining room accommodating up to 100 guests in a reception style layout. While this is not a private space, it can be partially isolated from the remainder of the restaurant, providing a semi-private space still within the active brewery environment. This space is great for casual reception style events and gatherings. This space is not equipped for presentation style events due to the shared dining space. A deposit as well as a Food & Beverage minimum are required to book this space.

BREWER'S TABLE

Our main Brewer's Table is located behind the large circular bar in front of the main brew house. The high-top table is great for large groups of up to 20 guests and provides a true brewery experience in the heart of the restaurant. Due to safety restrictions, the high-top style table is not recommended for groups with children or mobility limited individuals. There is no deposit or minimum required to book this table. Please note, this table is only for seated dining reservations and does not allow for standing room or mingling.

FULL BUYOUT

For events with more than 100 guests, we recommend considering a Full Buyout of the brewery. A full buyout accommodates up to 400 guests with exclusive access to the entire restaurant space, including the patio and private room space. The Full Buyout option provides an opportunity to customize your event with options such as outside entertainment and a full bar (additional fee applies and must work with an outside vendor). Pricing is minimum based and met through food, beverage and tour purchases, tax and gratuity excluded. Full Buyout reservations require a deposit to secure the date and confirm the event.

Looking to make a reservation for our dining room? Online reservations are available for groups of 8 or less. Groups exceeding 8 guests are asked to call us directly at 303-728-2337 for availability.

Reservations of 8 or more guests will be seated once all guests have arrived. Reservation times have a ten-minute grace period. Please arrive for your reservation on time and give us a call if you are running late. Groups remaining incomplete past the 10-minute grace period may not be guaranteed immediate seating. 

Barrel Booths & Patio:  We do not reserve the barrel booths or patio tables and accommodate requests on a first come first served basis. Our North patio is dog friendly however, weather dependent, at our discretion. 

20% gratuity will be added to all parties with 8 or more guests and unclosed bar tabs.
