Reasons why young people should consider group tours of Bali

If you’re not quite sure if a group tour to Bali is the right choice for you, these arguments might just convince you.

1. You don’t want to travel alone

Solo travel is an incredible experience, but sometimes you just want to meet like-minded people and share your new experiences. Group tours to Bali designed specifically for young people are the best way to ensure you’ll be travelling with a fun group of others who will make your experience even better. Finding travel buddies for Bali has never been easier.

2. You have no time to plan

Travel planning is a full-time job, and most people don’t have time to compare hundreds of hotels, activities, and destinations. Booking a trip to Bali can be as easy as one click when you join a group trip instead. No decisions to make, everything will be done for you.

3. You don’t know where to start

Planning a trip can be overwhelming, especially if you haven’t been to a place before. Tour companies have years of experience when it comes to planning trips, so their itineraries are perfectly crafted with activities you probably wouldn’t have tried otherwise. If you don’t know where to start planning your trip to Bali, a group tour may be the way to go.

4. It doesn’t have to be expensive

I used to hear group trip and immediately think that the prices would be marked up to ridiculous levels. Luckily, that isn’t really the case for Bali, and for the activities and services included and the value you get in return, prices for the group tours on this list are actually really reasonable.

If you add the hours you’ll have to spend planning your trip plus all the expenses for activities and accommodation, you’ll probably arrive at a similar number for your trip but minus all the new friends and once-in-a-lifetime memories.

Group tours of Bali vs organising your own trip

I personally love both joining group trips and planning my own travels. It depends a lot on the destination for me and what I want from a trip. Here are some pros and cons to consider before you decide to join an organised trip. In the end, it all comes down to your personal preferences and resources.

My experience with group tours of Bali

I love organised tours, and South East Asia is the perfect place to try one. What stands out for me is the fact that you’re guaranteed to make friends and meet other young people if you join a group tour of Bali and its beautiful islands. I made friends for life on group tours, and after having tried several, I can tell you exactly what I liked and disliked about each one.

This post isn’t sponsored by a tour company, so I can authentically tell you about my experiences and those of people I know who have gone to Bali on an organised trip. I’ve explored Bali independently as a backpacker, as a more luxury-oriented traveller and as part of a group tour, so I can compare my experiences and let you know what I liked best.

I’ve now been living on the island for several years, which gives me the unique opportunity to try multiple trips and see the Island of the Gods from a different perspective.

5 best group tours of Bali and the islands for young people

Have a look at the table below if you’re looking for a quick way to compare the best group tours of Bali and the islands for young people.

1. Bali One Life Adventures – my personal favourite Bali group tour

The 12-day Bali One Life Adventures tour is by far my personal favourite when it comes to group tours for young people. It’s no surprise that this tour consistently gets the best reviews. What does surprise me, though, is that it’s actually the cheapest one on this list, with a price per day of only $87 USD. Considering all the value and experiences you’re getting, this is truly a steal.

If you want to meet new friends in Bali and spend your time with young people, this tour should be at the top of your list.

The maximum group size for this tour is 22 people, which is just about perfect in my experience. Of course, this is personal preference, but I find that in smaller groups, you might run the risk of not really connecting to anyone, while larger numbers make it easier to split off and make lasting friendships with people you have things in common with.

Bali One Life Adventures is actually the cheapest on this list of best group tours of Bali for young people. At only $87 US per day ($1,050 US for 12 days), you’re getting a lot of value. Plus, One Life Adventures often runs last-minute deals and off-season discounts of 20% or more, so keep your eyes open for even better prices. I’ve seen this tour for as little as $850, which is an unbeatable price for 12 days.

group bali waterfall friends tour young people travellers backpackers standing

This is my favourite group tour of Bali and its islands, especially for young people. A big reason why is how many activities are included, which other tours don’t offer.

  • surf lesson with a renowned surf school in Canggu
  • manta ray snorkelling tour in Nusa Penida
  • sunset bike ride on Gili T
  • private boat tour around the Gili Islands
  • Monkey Forest
  • Tegalallang Rice Terraces
  • Tirta Empul water temple
  • orientation walk of Ubud
  • Camphuan Ridgewalk
  • sunrise trekking at Mount Batur volcano
  • twin Lakes visit
  • hidden Banyumala Waterfall walk and swim
  • visit a local family for a guided rainforest walk and homemade coffee
  • snorkelling in Menjangan island
  • visit Biorock Coral Planting Project
  • bonfire on a secluded beach

As you can see, there is a lot going on, and all these activities make this tour more than worth it.

If you’re the sort of person who enjoys nightlife and letting loose, this group tour of Bali is the ideal choice. You’ll spend quite some time in two of the best hotspots for parties in and around Bali, which are Canggu and the Gili Islands. But, there are also plenty of cultural activities in more peaceful places, so this isn’t just a party trip but rather a good mix of both.

There are several guides on this tour, but a large number are led by Wisnu, who has years of experience and is always a favourite among travellers. With his local Balinese insight, he’s always there to share his incredible culture and guide the group. He’s extremely organised and just a great person to be around, and he’ll make sure you love every second of your trip.

Flexibility, pace and free time

This tour covers a lot of destinations and even takes you to West Bali, which none of the others on this list do. But despite the action-packed itinerary, there is always room for free time, and you might be surprised how much you can actually explore on your own. Of course, the pace is fast, and you’ll only be in most places for two nights, but the itinerary was perfected to make sure you don’t feel overwhelmed.

Accommodation

One Life Adventures has a few hotels they always go to around Bali, but many locations change depending on the season, available rooms and group size. The focus is on central locations and beautiful venues with beach-front locations, infinity pools and modern rooms. Keep in mind that this is a more affordable group tour targeted at young people, which means that two people of the same gender will be sharing a room. Solo travellers can also request a private room for the entire trip for an additional $300 US. An additional night at the same hotel in Canggu before the trip begins can be booked for $63 US.

Personal experiences

I love this tour, and I’m certain you will too. Most Bali itineraries for group tours only cover Canggu, Ubud, Nusa Penida, and Gili Trawangan, which is fine for most young people but doesn’t show you some of my favourite parts of Bali. I really like that One Life Adventures takes you all the way to the remote west of the island and shows you more unconventional things without missing out on the must-do touristy activities.

I also thought that the staff and guides were exceptional and truly went the extra mile to make everyone feel included and welcome. Most people from the group ended up staying in Bali longer and continued to travel together and stay in touch to this day. If you want to make friends , this is the perfect choice.

2. Bali Bucket List Original 10-Day Tour – small groups, packed itinerary

The Bali Bucket List Original 10-Day Tour is the perfect organised trip for first-time Bali visitors who want to see as much as possible in a short time frame. These tours always have plenty of young people, and because the groups are small, you’ll make even closer friendships than on some of the other tours. This 10-day itinerary is absolutely packed, so don’t choose this tour if you’re looking to relax by the beach for a week. You’ll see and do a lot and have plenty of fun along the way.

group tours bali young people islands boat selfie snorkelling

This tour has a maximum of ten participants, which makes it the smallest tour on this list. If you’re overwhelmed by lots of people, you might enjoy exploring Bali with a smaller group. Personally, I prefer having more people in a tour group, which ensures that there are plenty of young people around while you explore Bali.

  • twin accommodation for 10 days
  • an experienced tour guide
  • transport back to Seminyak on the last day
  • optional activities

Need to extend your visa in Bali? Make sure to follow the dress code at the immigration office and come prepared.

Bali Bucket List is one of the more expensive tours on this list, but there is a lot included. The total price for ten days is $1,050 US, which means you’ll be paying $105 US per day. This is definitely expensive for Bali, and in my experience, you’re mostly paying for having a smaller group. The other parts of the tour tend to be very similar to more affordable options, especially if you compare the itineraries.

kelingking beach nusa penida drone shot above

This itinerary includes all the main highlights of Bali, and what stood out to me were the many water activities but slightly fewer cultural activities. This tour is more about fun and a little bit less about getting to know Bali, but in such a short time, it can be difficult to do it all.

  • Tegenungan Waterfall
  • Sacred Monkey Forest
  • Balinese cooking class
  • rice terraces
  • local markets
  • island hopping the Gilis
  • snorkelling with turtles
  • bike tour of Gili Trawangan
  • surf lesson in Nusa Lembongan
  • swimming with manta rays
  • visit the mangroves

Groups tour of Bali and its islands for young people are bound to involve some Bintangs on the beach and the occasional party. The main nightlife destination on this itinerary is going to be Gili Trawangan, where you’ll have one big night out. Most other nights will most likely involve a few drinks (depending on your group, of course), but in my experience, this isn’t the biggest party tour on this list. If you prefer connecting with people instead of loud clubs, you’ll love it.

You’ll have a mixture of local Balinese guides as well as expat group leaders who have been in Bali for at least six months or more. Ali is the guide for most tours and will help you out with anything you might need during your time on the island.

This 10-day itinerary is packed with activities, and there isn’t too much downtime. Since you’ll be staying in four different places around Bali, you’ll be moving a lot, so be prepared for a ton of new impressions and experiences. If you’re looking for some more independence and time to explore by yourself, or relax, this might not be the tour for you.

Unlike some of the other tours on this list, Bali Bucket List tells you which hotels you’ll be staying at before you book. In my experience, they usually stick to this pre-planned accommodation, but there can, of course, always be last-minute changes. Their standard hotels are Frii Hotel in Canggu, Max One Hotel in Ubud, Blue Marlin in Gili T, and Mahagiri Resort in Nusa Lembongan. The rooms always have twin beds, and you’ll be sharing with someone of the same gender from the group.

If you prefer a private room as a solo traveller, you can request one for the entire trip for an additional $250 US.

I loved this jam-packed tour of Bali and can safely recommend it for young people hoping to explore the Island of the Gods . There is a lot included, and I especially liked the choice of hotels, which were slightly nicer than on some of the other tours. The itinerary has definitely been perfected over the years, and even though it’s packed, you won’t feel rushed.

The groups are small, and bookings don’t always fill up, so you might be travelling with only six or seven others instead of ten. If that’s something you like, this tour is perfect for you. But, I was missing the nightlife a tiny bit, and personally preferred tours with more free evenings and more people.

Day 1: Arrive in Canggu, check in at Frii Hotel, and catch Bali sunset at the beach. Day 2: Visit Tegenungan waterfall and Ubud rice terraces, and end the day with a sundown drink in the rooftop infinity pool. Day 3: Hike up Mount Batur for sunrise, and visit the Monkey Forest in the afternoon. Day 4: Haggle at the local market in Ubud, attend traditional Balinese cooking class in rice fields. Day 5: Island hop to Gili Trawangan, check-in at the hotel, catch the sunset, explore beach bars at night. Day 6: Private boat tour of the three Gili islands for turtle spotting , then bike ride around the island. Day 7: Have a lazy brunch in Gili T and then head to Nusa Lembongan to watch the sunset at Devil’s Tear viewpoint. Day 8: Snorkel with manta rays, learn to surf at ‘Playgrounds’ break, have dinner at an Indonesian restaurant. Day 9: Visit mangroves and Nusa Penida to see Kelingking Beach , Angel’s Billabong and Crystal Bay before enjoying the sunset on Nusa Lembongan. Day 10: Saying goodbye and getting one last group photo.

3. Wanderlands Bali – Lombok and nightlife

Wanderlands offers both the longest and shortest group tours to Bali, and they’re the perfect choice for young people wanting to explore the islands. You can choose to stay either 8 or 13 days, but only the longer tour includes Lombok. This tour is perfect for backpackers and those looking for fun. There are a lot of more unusual activities on the itinerary, but also plenty of touristy things that are most likely on your Bali bucket list. Wanderlands has a little bit of everything and perfectly combines culture with fun.

The maximum group size is 16 people for this tour, which is a pretty good number in my experience. You’ll have a small enough group that you can make friends but still enough people to make sure you’ll find someone you connect with.

  • accommodation for 8 or 13 days
  • activities such as surfing, snorkelling and a cooking class
  • all other meals except breakfast
  • airport drop-off and return transport to Bali
  • optional activities like scuba diving and the Mount Batur sunrise hike

At $92 US to $96 US per day, this tour is relatively affordable. But you need to consider that one of the accommodations has four people sleeping in one room and that the Mount Batur sunrise trek, which is included in most other tours, costs extra. Most other tours also include a group dinner and return you to your origin point when the tour is over. In the case of the longer Wanderlands tour , you’ll end up in Lombok and will have to make your own way back to Bali.

  • cooking class
  • visit the Sasak tribe
  • waterfalls in Lombok

group tours bali young people cooking class islands fire

This is one of my favourite tours of Bali for nightlife and parties. You’ll spend time in places like Canggu, Gili Trawangan, and Kuta Lombok , where there is always something going on. In my experience, the group leaders are very nightlife-oriented and always encourage people to go out and have fun.

Wanderlands mostly hires foreign guides to act as tour leaders, which creates a feeling of being friends with your guides. This is especially good for young people who want to have fun as they explore Bali and are looking to find the best group tours for a fun experience.

Since there is a long and shorter option for this tour, the pace is actually quite relaxed and not too fast. There is plenty of free time and also optional activities, so you can decide for yourself how much downtime you need.

bukit merese rocks kuta lombok sea view waves grassy hill

Wanderlands tends to go to the same hotels, although changes are always possible, depending on the group size and availability. The standard hotels are Ecoland in Canggu, Tanis Beachfront Resort in Nusa Lembongan, Puri Garden Hotel in Ubud (4-bed shared accommodation), Abdi/Natya Resort in Gili Trawangan, Sikara in Lombok. Most other tours on this list provide twin or double rooms, but you’ll be staying in a 4-bed shared room in Ubud for this tour.

It’s also not possible to upgrade to private rooms in advance, but you can request one on arrival if it’s available for an extra fee.

I loved that Wanderlands takes you to Lombok, which is incredibly underrated, in my opinion. Most other tours follow a very similar route, but this one has some unusual things in their itinerary, which I appreciated. However, I think the 8-day tour is not enough if you truly want to get to know Bali and Lombok. The best parts of the tour for me were after day 8, so the short version would be a bit disappointing, I think.

I love nightlife and having drinks with new friends , so I really loved this more party-oriented tour. But, some other travellers were complaining that we didn’t get a lot of information about the cultural background and that the focus was more on drinking than anything else. I do see where they’re coming from and I have to say that the communication and educational aspects of the tour could be improved.

However, as one of the most popular group tours of Bali geared towards young people, it’s no surprise that having fun nights out is a priority. There are other, more cultural tours to choose from if that’s not something you’re looking for.

Day 1: Arrival in Bali, meeting the group leader, and time to relax. Day 2: Visit Tanah Lot Temple, surfing lesson, and enjoy the sunset in Canggu. Day 3: Visit Nusa Lembongan, explore Dream Beach and Devil’s Tears, and have a bonfire under the stars. Day 4: Trip to Nusa Penida, snorkelling, visiting Pura Goa Giri Putri temple, and exploring Atuh and Diamond Beach and Kelingking Beach . Day 5: Arrival in Ubud, visit the Sacred Monkey Forest , and the possibility of taking selfies with the monkeys. Day 6: Visit a local coffee plantation, Bali Swings, lunch in the rice terraces and enjoy the view from the infinity pool. Day 7: Visit a primary school, cool off in a waterfall, and shop at local markets, followed by a farewell dinner. Day 8: Travelling to the Gili Islands and enjoying peace and quiet in Gili Trawangan, sunset watching, and dressing up and enjoying island nightlife. Day 9: Snorkel and see underwater statues, coral, and turtles , option to arrange a PADI dive, lunch in Gili Air, dinner at the night market. Day 10: Free time in the morning to relax or read; cooking class to learn traditional dishes and eat the creations, catch some sun before exploring Gili T at night. Day 11: Boat ride to Lombok and drive to Kuta for a more laidback vibe; reflect on adventures and buy locally made friendship bracelets Day 12: Visit the Sasak tribe and learn about their customs; explore two waterfalls, Benang Stokel and Benang Kelambu; final dinner and drinks together. Day 13: Breakfast together to reminisce on the trip and discuss onward travel plans with group leaders.

Tour duration: 8 or 13 days Destinations included: Canggu, Nusa Lembongan, Nusa Penida, Ubud, Gili Trawangan, Kuta Lombok Group size: maximum 16 people Operator: Wanderlands Approximate price: $740 or $1,250 US Price per day: $92 or $96 US What we loved: Unusual activities, fun nights out and seeing Lombok Why this tour is good for young people: A great balance between parties and culture

4. Bali Intro – dolphins and parties

Bali Intro markets its group tours to first-time travellers, which attracts a lot of young people, especially in popular South East Asian destinations like Bali and the surrounding islands. If you’re looking for a younger crowd who loves to party, this tour is the perfect choice. The pace of this tour is relatively slow, and there is plenty of time to relax, so if you want to avoid a hectic schedule, this one is perfect.

You can choose between spending 9 or 12 days on the tour, and the shorter one doesn’t include Ubud or the Mount Batur sunrise hike.

With a maximum of 22 people, this is one of the larger tours on this list. In my experience, the groups tend to be closer to 18, though, which I thought was the perfect amount. However, if you prefer a more personal experience in a close-knit group, consider choosing a tour with fewer people instead.

  • accommodation for 9 or 12 days
  • one lunch and one dinner
  • activities such as swimming with dolphins, snorkelling and the Mount Batur sunrise hike
  • 10 trees planted for every booking
  • all other meals

Intro Travel is a very popular tour company, and their prices are definitely steep. In fact, their tours are the most expensive on this list at $108 US or $116 US per day. That’s definitely a lot of money for Bali, and, to be honest, the added value provided by this tour isn’t that significant.

  • learn to surf
  • swim under waterfalls
  • visit a local Balinese family
  • basket weaving
  • coffee plantation & rice paddies
  • dolphin boat trip
  • explore the Gili Islands by bicycle
  • boat trip around all three Gili Islands
  • snorkel with turtles
  • sunset swing and island party
  • sunrise volcano trek at Mount Batur
  • traditional Balinese massage

group tours bali tru travels intro group waterfall selfie islands young people

Intro Travels is the perfect choice for travellers who love a good night out and some drinks with friends. Young people hoping to party in Bali will love their group tours around the islands. The tour spends a lot more time in Canggu than others and also a few days in Gili T, which are reserved for partying.

You’ll be accompanied by expert tour guides, usually a mixture of locals and foreigners.

Both Bali Intro tours have a relatively slow pace with plenty of free time. All the hotspots and popular activities are covered, but you’ll get to enjoy some downtime which you can spend relaxing or drinking with new friends.

The hotels chosen by Intro Travel aren’t always the same and tend to change from trip to trip. However, they frequently include multi-share rooms, which will be far less comfortable than the twin rooms that most other tours offer.

It’s difficult to upgrade the accommodation to private and in most cases not possible. Considering the high price of this tour, the hotels were definitely not the best.

bali tours for young adults

This tour is incredibly fun if you want to party in Bali and need some downtime most days to recover from the night before. However, considering the length and price, there weren’t too many activities included, and if you have high expectations for a jam-packed schedule, you might end up disappointed.

In our case, we knew that Intro Travels targets young people who want to go out, so I was expecting a more relaxed trip. However, the quality of accommodation was not what I was expecting, since this tour was so much more expensive than the others.

What I did like was that you’ll get to swim with dolphins in Lovina, which none of the other operators include in their Bali itineraries. It’s also nice that at least one dinner and a lunch are included in the price.

While I usually recommend the longer tour option, in the case of Intro Travels, the 9-day tour is enough, in my opinion, if you’re looking to save some money. You’ll miss out on Ubud and Mount Batur but can still enjoy plenty of things to do before that.

Day 7: Explore Gili T by bike and take a photo on the iconic ocean swing. Day 8: Snorkel and explore all three Gili Islands by boat. Day 9: Travel back to the mainland by ferry and head to Ubud. Day 10: Visit the famous Monkey Forest in Ubud. Day 11: Embark on a sunrise trek with a local guide to Mount Batur and enjoy breakfast with a view, unwind with a Balinese massage. 5. Bali Experience – free time and plenty of nights out

Tru Travel’s Bali Experience tour is a 10-day adventure which takes you to Canggu, Ubud and Gili Trawangan. It has the fewest destinations of any tour on this list, making it perfect for those who don’t want to be rushed and would rather spend an extra day in a place instead of cramming in as much as possible. Much like Intro Travels, Tru Travels group tours attract young people who might be hesitant to explore Bali alone and want to do plenty of partying on the islands.

The groups have a maximum of 20 people, which is a nice number for organised trips. If you prefer smaller groups, this might not be the best choice for you, though.

  • accommodation for 10 days
  • activities such as the Monkey Forest , cooking class and snorkelling

The Bali Experience tour is mid-priced at $97 US per day, and for the value it includes, it’s a pretty good deal. Keep in mind that return transport from Gili Trawangan to Bali is not included, so you’ll have to make your own way back and pay for the ferry ride.

  • Tanah Lot & Taman Ayun
  • surfing lesson in Kuta
  • Balinese Cooking class
  • volcano view point
  • island hopping the Gili’s
  • snorkelling

This tour includes quite a bit of nightlife, even in places like Ubud, where other tour companies don’t usually take you out to party. In addition to that, Canggu and Gilli T will be the best places for going out and with a few days in between, you’ll have plenty of time to rest and recover.

monkey eating snack forest

Tru Travels mostly employs foreigners, who take on the role of group leader rather than a tour guide. This means that you might not get a lot of cultural insights, though, so make sure to adjust your expectations.

This tour only includes three destinations in Bali, which is a lot less than other itineraries. Notably, Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan are skipped, and instead, you’ll get to spend more time in each destination. This means that the pace of this tour is pretty relaxed, and there is quite some room for free time.

The hotels on this tour change frequently, but you’ll only be sharing rooms with one other person. Private options are not available usually.

The Bali Experience Tour by Tru Travels was very fun and definitely one of the wildest ones on this list. If you want to party in Bali, you’ll love it. What made this tour different from the others was the more relaxed itinerary and large amount of free time.

This can be a good or a bad thing, depending on your expectations. Since I’m a very independent traveller, I didn’t mind exploring on my own, but I have to say it can be tricky to organise activities and plan things to do when you’re meant to be on an organised trip with everything included.

That being said, the nights out with this tour group were probably the most fun, and there was always something going on almost every single evening. I did feel like the staff were slightly less experienced than is the norm for these sorts of trips, which can go either way. In our case, we had fantastic guides, but I’ve heard of more chaotic experiences from friends.

All in all, this is still one of the best group tours for young people who want to explore Bali and the Islands, although the focus is more on drinking Bintangs than anything else.

learning to surf at Kuta beach Bali

Have you ever thought about taking a surfing lesson in Bali? It’s such a cool place for teenagers who want to learn how to surf! But before you hit the waves, there are a few things to keep in mind.

First, make sure you pick a good surf school with experienced instructors who know how to keep you safe. You don’t want to be caught in a big wave without someone there to guide you. And don’t forget to bring appropriate gear like a rash guard or wetsuit, sunscreen, and a hat and sunglasses. The sun can be really intense in Bali, so it’s important to protect yourself while you’re out there.

Places to visit in Bali with family – The Bali Swing

What started as one good idea in one spot in Bali has now spawned what seems like a million copies. Have you ever heard of the Bali Swing ? It’s a really popular attraction on the island that lets you swing over the beautiful tropical scenery.

The Bali Swing

But get this – there’s not just one swing! There are actually numerous swings all over Bali that you can visit. Each one has its own unique features and stunning views. Some are really high up in the trees, while others are over rice paddies or rivers.

If you’re someone who loves adventure and beautiful views, then visiting one of these swings is a must-do when you’re in Bali. It’s such a thrill to swing out over the lush greenery and feel the wind in your hair.

Plus, the swings are usually surrounded by little cafes or snack stands where you can grab a bite to eat or drink while taking in the scenery.

Best destination in Bali for families – Waterbom in Kuta

This has to be on the top of the best destinations in Bali for families. Waterbom is constantly rated as the best waterpark in all of Asia, while many people will tell you this is one of the things to avoid in Bali, it is one of the best family things to do in Bali.

A big tallow waterclide half funnel at Waterbom in Bali

Visiting Waterbom we had high expectations for a brilliant family day out in Bali. We hired a cabana near the lazy river area, which was excellent and provided us with a shady spot to go back to throughout the day.

One of our most useful travel tips for travelling to Bali is that if you are spending the day at Waterbom hiring a cabana is one of the things you have to do in Bali.

Our eldest teen seemed to think it was a good place to have a short sleep for a while with the occasional dip into the lazy river.

Our tween, on the other hand, was straight at the water slides of which there are many, that go by names such as boomerang, constrictor and super bowl just to name a few.

Waterbom is basically on the main street of Kuta. Waterbom Bali is one of the best places to go with teens in Kuta. Expect it to be packed and the lines for the water slides to be long but you will not be short of activities for teens there. To spend money at Waterbom you need to get a wristband that is topped up with credit.

Wave rider and waterslide at Waterbom in Bali

You then just swipe your band when buying drinks, food or massages. A visit to Waterbom with a teen in Bali will cost you Western prices. Kids over 11 are charged adult prices. For us, that meant a cost of just over $200 AUD for entry and a cabana.

  • We also suggest you put a little bit extra on your wristband to spend especially if you are hiring towels. We put Rp.300,000 on our card on entry and that went straight to hiring towels for the 4 of us. Towels are only Rp.10,000 to hire BUT you need an Rp.50,000 deposit on all of them each that you receive when you return them.
  • There are top-up stations all over the park though so it is easy to do and you don’t have to return to the entrance to top up. If you have money left on your wristband at the end of the day you just have to go to the ticket booths at the entrance and they will give you your remaining money back in cash.

The Secret Waterslide – adventure holidays with teenagers

Way up in the North of Bali around about 3 hours from Kuta lies the secret waterslide, a great day trip in Bali with teenagers.

This road trip with teens is slow and windy on back roads where you will be dodging dogs, chooks and steep drops till you reach Lemukih Village but it is one of the most fun trips for teenagers in Bali.

This place is that far north you can see the coastline and Singaraja the biggest city on the north coast. You need to trek through some amazing rice terraces on the way, with steep forested mountains surrounding you. The walk alone is something that is pure magic and is one of the very best things to do in North Bali and one of the unique things to do in Bali too.

You will arrive at a little shack that serves food and drinks while the sound of running water rings in your ears. The river below is where the fun in Bali for your travelling teenagers really begins.

A fast-flowing downhill stream awaits you. The forces of the water over thousands of years have worn the rocks smooth down into some little pools at the end of the slides.

An attendant will have some tubes waiting for you to sit on so you can head down the slide at full speed! If you are a little unsure, the attendant will even go down with you the first few times, maybe even backwards.

This was something the girls loved and thought it was fantastic that the attendant was going down with them too! This adventure is best done as a part of a tour with Bali Customized Tours . Put this on your list of epic teen travel experiences.

Tirta Empul

We think it is important for our teens and tween to experience cultural activities while we travel and there are so many family holiday destinations in Asia that excel at this. For teens in Bali, this can only mean a visit to Tirta Empul.

Tirta Empul Bali

Legend has it that the Hindu god Indra created a spring that feeds the temple’s 13 fountains. The Hindu religion dictates that you bathe in the holy water to guard off evil spirits. This is a truly special cultural event to experience in Bali with teens.

It requires you to put a sarong on and immerse yourself in the cold waters of the bathing pool. When you get to the front you must put your head under the running water to wash the evil spirits away.

There are 13 fountains where this can be done and traditionally you must wash at all 13 of them. This cultural ceremony is unique and cooling on a hot in Bali for children.

Family travel with teenagers tip: We had a driver take us from Ubud to Tirta Empul. He waited the 2 hours while we were inside and then he took us back to Ubud for $40 AUD or Rp.400,000 . This is a brilliant way to get around Bali with teens and it makes vacations with teenagers in Bali so easy and hassle-free .

Uluwatu Temple

Built on a cliff in  Southern Bali, the Uluwatu Temple is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Indonesia.

A crowd at Uluwatuu waiting to see the fire dance

It is sacred to Hindus, Buddhists and Muslims alike. Every morning, thousands of people come here to the Hindu temple to pray for blessings and good fortune.

The temple complex has 4 levels with shrines on each level, which are dedicated to the Hindu gods Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva and Indra. The ritual Kecak Fire dance takes place daily at the temple site at  sunset in Uluwatu

The amazing performance involves around 60 people, who chant and tell the story through dance.  It is important that teens visiting Bali get to experience the different cultures and religions on the island. Book your tickets today.

Jet skiing is a great way to get your adrenaline fix. The thrill of the speed and the excitement of the action make it a popular choice for those looking for an adventure.

The company you hire your jetski from will make sure you are familiar with the throttle, steering and brake controls before letting you take off. Jet skiing can be a lot of fun and one of the most memorable experiences you will be talking about for a long time to come.

Visit the Rice Terraces

Visiting Bali’s stunning rice terraces is one of the more unique things to do in South East Asia. Tegallalang, near Ubud, is a great example of meticulously sculpted green terraces where teens can stroll, interact with local farmers, and dine in picturesque cafes.

In Jatiluwih, the expansive terraces sprawl across the hills in the Tabanan regency, offering a quieter, less touristy experience, perfect for leisurely hikes or bike rides.

Remember to respect the environment and local customs, and protect yourself from the sun while enjoying this remarkable Bali attraction.

The Devdan Show

The Devdan Show is a captivating cultural performance in Bali that blends traditional and contemporary Indonesian dance, music, and storytelling.

A cultural performance in Bali

Think of a Cirque du Soleil-type performance of traditional dances with fire, water and a little story. This family-friendly show takes the audience on a journey through Indonesia’s diverse cultures, featuring Balinese dance, Javanese mask performances, tribal dances, and more.

Held at the modern Bali Nusa Dua Theatre, it’s an educational and entertaining experience. Be sure to check the show schedule and book tickets in advance for this memorable experience.

Bali for kids – Monkey Forest

For those adventurous teens looking for a different type of experience, the Bali Monkey Forest is a great option. It’s also for those who are looking to enjoy the lush rainforest, complete with bamboo forests and streams.

teenagers enjoying the Bali's Monkey Forest Sanctuary

The Bali Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary is an important sanctuary for monkeys in Bali. For tourists, it can be a fun experience getting to interact with them without the dangers of other places where these primates are kept in captivity.

The forest’s main attraction is the family of Macaque monkeys that have made this place their home. Beware that getting too close to the monkeys can cause you to go home without your hat, sunglasses or mobile phone.

Bali teenager activities – Sekumpul Waterfall

Bali is a perfect place to enjoy waterfalls. There are many waterfalls in the north of the island, that you can choose to visit on your family vacation to Bali.

One of the most popular waterfalls in Bali is the Sekumpul Waterfall. The hike in and out of Sekumpal can be tricky, with wet and slippery stairs to navigate as you make your way to the valley floor through the jungle.

The water falls to the valley floor from 80 meters above smashing into the rocks and causing a thick, rain-like mist for all who stand in front of it. We would recommend that you have a moderate fitness level as there are a lot of stairs coming back up to the car park.

Hot air balloon ride in Ubud

Hot Air Ballons flights provide a different perspective on the world below. From high in the sky, everything looks so small and insignificant.

The experience is peaceful and calming, as well as exciting and adventurous. The views are also beautiful and scenic, making the flight all the more worth it.

In Bali, you can go on a hot air balloon ride at the Chedi Club in Ubud. You will see views of the Tanah Gajah area, the tropical forests of Ubud, and Mount Agung on the eastern horizon from 50 meters over vast rice fields.

Stand-up paddle boarding in Bali

If you’re looking for a new way to enjoy the water in Bali, stand-up paddle boarding (SUP) might be just the thing. SUP is a relatively new sport that involves standing on a large, surfboard-like paddleboard and using a long paddle to move through the water.

paddleboarding in Bali

It can be done in Bali in the calm waters of Kelan Beach in the Tuban area with Priority Stand Up Paddle Bali. This is a fun thing to do in Bali with family members and a good group activity.

An evening at Frankensteins has to be one of the best family activities in Bali and it is definitely one of the best things to do with kids in Bali. Each day they have an afternoon family show that starts at 4.30 pm and runs till 7.30 pm.

There is literally a restaurant every few meters in Bali for you to eat at and when you travel with a family this is important, especially when you have very hungry kids. We won’t go into all the places we ate at while in Bali with family, but we will recommend a place both in Kuta and Ubud we ate at and loved.

The Beach Love

The Beach Love is up past Canggu at Pantai Cinta Kedunggu. Located on a grassy headland, you can sit on beanbags and watch the sunset while eating some tasty foods and enjoying a drink.

sitting on a hill in Bali waiting for sunset

Waiters appoint a small table and beanbags for your group to sit at, they take your order and bring you food all while listening to some deep bass dance music awaiting the sunset.

The Beach Love is unique and appealing for families visiting Bali. You will need to organise a driver as the spot is not well-lit at night and I would not recommend waiting for a grab to pick you up

Sayan Point in Ubud

One of the most stunning dining locations anywhere in the world. Sayan Point sits perched on a hill overlooking a river, rice fields and jungle in Ubud.

The view of the rice fields from Sayan Point Restaurant in Ubud

Warung Pak Hadi serves Chinese-style cuisine with lots of stir-fry and rice. There are plenty of seafood options too. The menu is in both English and Indonesian.

They give you a notepad, so you can write what you want in Indonesian since the owner’s English is not so great. Amazing, need I say it again amazing food at this place.

We walked over a kilometre to eat here 3 times while we were in Kuta. Great selection of seafood, chicken, beef and lamb dishes with the best-tasting vegetables anywhere. Also for vegans, there are plenty of rice and noodle dishes with vegetables.

Some great ideas here for older kids. I really like the idea of getting the kids some surf lessons as they are so expensive here in Oz. We visited Bali when the kids were only 4 and 2, so looking forward to heading back there now they are older as there is so much to do – the secret waterslide looks like so much fun!

The island is rich in green color.

Day 1 - Ubud UBUD YOU BEAUTY

After arriving just outside the Balinese capital, Denpasar, hop in a cab and head north toward Ubud's emerald green rice terraces. The sights and sounds of this mecca of culture, arts, and spirituality should shake you from that jet lag slumber. Meet up with your travel crew at the hotel before we head out for drinks, dinner, and laughs. No sweat if you don't make it out late; your Bali trip is just getting started, and you've got one wild Indonesian adventure ahead.

On our Bali trip, you'll explore ancient ruins and interesting cultures.

Day 2 - Ubud Home-Grown

Today, we're discovering the ins and outs of Bali's culture and tradition with a local family. You'll get set up with all the right ingredients to start cooking Balinese style before we sit down for lunch to learn about local life and catch up on time-honored rituals with these friendly Balinese. That afternoon, we're trekking back into the island's maze of jungles, past awe-inspiring temples, in search of a secret waterfall with mystical purification powers. After enjoying a soul-soothing day in the life, head out with your new friends for dinner and drinks.

There are many artisan communities on Bali and the nearby islands.

Day 3 - Ubud The Mighty Jungle

Begin the day with breakfast at the hotel before rolling out to explore Bali's lush interior. Today, we're winding from the cacophonous Ubud monkey forest to the historic Ubud Palace, set behind sprawling tropical gardens. Enjoy lunch with the crew surrounded by rainforests before riding on toward Bali's famous hillsides. From there, you'll check out the spiritual scene at Kawi Sebatu Temple, where clear jungle springs feed pools and fountains that surround ancient shrines—it's one of Bali's best-kept secrets, far from the crowds. In the afternoon, we'll cruise back to Ubud; the evening is free for you to find dinner in the village with friends.

Hike to volcanoes on Indonesia's islands.

Day 4 - Bali What a view

Fuel up at the hotel; you’ll need your energy—today, we’re heading off to learn all about Bali’s magical green landscapes. We’ll check out a local farm and walk through emerald rice paddies with our expert guide. You'll discover the importance of traditional cultivation techniques and how restoring these ecosystems can benefit the people and culture of this unique island. So, bring a camera and immerse yourself in the wild shades of green that helped put brilliant Bali on the map. After a day in that Indonesian sun, kick back and relax in the afternoon before heading into the narrow, winding Balinese streets in town to try some local cuisine like nasi goreng, satay, or babi guling.

The coral off of Bali is teeming with life.

Day 5 - Gili Trawangan Floating in Paradise

Grab one more Balinese breakfast at the hotel and then cruise on over to the alluring harbor of Padangbai. We're hopping on a speedboat with our sights set on Gili Trawangan, one of three tiny green teardrops in the great blue abyss that make up the fascinating Gili Islands. After dropping our bags at the hotel, just a coconut's throw from the balmy Bali Sea, the afternoon is yours to check out the island's pristine beaches. Consider renting bicycles and cruising around this tiny paradise with friends before we all meet up for dinner.

Snorkel off of the Gili Islands with the travel crew.

Day 6 - Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno & Gili Air Island Hoppin’

We’re leaving land behind for a day offshore, so fuel up before head out for a day on our private boat. Our first stop is just next door off Gili Meno, where we’ll have the chance to dive in and unwind with green sea turtles and hawksbills, some of Indonesia’s most amiable aquatic hosts. We’ll find dry land at Gili Air to grab a bite before we head off for one last reef-side rendezvous. You’ll dive in and snorkel this particularly special underwater playground for legions of the Gili’s most curious tropical inhabitants before we head back home. The evening is free back on Gili Trawangan for you to head out with friends.

Bali's beaches are perfect for relaxing in the sun.

Day 7 - Gili & Uluwatu, Bali Unreal Uluwatu

Today we're headed back west across the turquoise Lombok Strait to Bali to check out the most southwestern point of the Bukit Peninsula. Hello, Uluwatu. This coastline of towering rocky cliffs is home to some of the island's most stunning beaches, sunsets, and surf. In fact, it was here in the 1970s that a group of intrepid adventurers stumbled upon the endless break, and the Indonesian surf scene was born. The evening is free to enjoy the tropical breeze - chill out, sip cocktails, or even take a dip.

Indonesia is full of hidden lagoons.

Day 8 - Uluwatu, Bali Sandy Spectacles

Today, we'll be hitting up one of Bali's iconic beach clubs, so get ready to bask in that brilliant Southeast Asian sun, grab a fruity, tropical concoction, and soak up the laid-back atmosphere. Nestled between the warm Indian Ocean and a backdrop of rugged and tropical bluffs, you'll spend the day in sunny, sandy paradise. With relaxing day beds, fresh seafood, and unbeatable views through the shade of coconut palms, it's one Balinese experience you're unlikely to top. After the sun sets on Shangri-La, head back to the hotel before you roll out for dinner and drinks with the crew.

Sunsets on Bali are spectacular.

Day 9 - Uluwatu, Bali Up for Anything

Bask in the Balinese ambiance—the morning is yours. Get up early for yoga or a massage and enjoy a relaxing morning on the island. After a bit of R&R, we'll be moving on to the Uluwatu Temple, which hangs out on a rocky cliff, towering over the Indian Ocean. We'll check out a traditional Kecak dance performance at the temple and one more sunset spectacular before it's on to our farewell dinner. That evening, we'll wine and dine together over our last meal. So, raise a glass as we toast to an adventure in paradise!

Bali's jungles are fantastic for hiking and trekking.

Day 10 - Bali Sampai Bertemu!

We’ll have one final breakfast together at the hotel before we check out. If you’re one of the lucky ones with more time on your hands, keep on traveling those spectacular Indonesian islands—they never seem to end. Otherwise, if you’ve got to jet, it’s a half-hour drive back to the airport, so take the ride to unwind and unpack this action-packed adventure.

Take walks on beautiful beaches.

“Don’t talk about heaven if you’ve never been to Bali.” – Toba Beta

Spend boat days on turquoise seas.

Just for fun

If you think it’s hard to see all of Indonesia, you’re not wrong. The nation is made up of a staggering 17,000 islands.

Indonesia is home to the Komodo Dragon; growing up to 10 feet in length, it’s the world’s largest lizard.

This country’s all about the natural world; in fact, it’s home to the second-highest level of biodiversity anywhere on earth.

While we can't guarantee private rooms in any Bali hotel, you should book your trip earlier if you prefer one, as they usually fill up.

We’ll be taking a number of ferries and boat trips, so plan accordingly if you get seasick (Dramamine is your friend!).

Indonesia lies directly on the equator; that means it’s usually hot and humid.

Most Bali vacation packages head to more touristy Kuta Beach or Seminyak Beach; we purposefully bypass those in search of more authentic secluded paradise.

Ensure your passport is valid for 6 months after your return date.

All activities are weather dependent; in the unlikely event that we are unable to run an activity, we will have a suitable alternative in place.

More information regarding visa requirements and Covid restrictions can be found here .

This is a real place where real people live, and the Instagram version is not always reality.

But there is “your way.” Want days filled with culture, followed by nights of just going with the flow? Do it. Going on our tours means travelling with people (22 or less, if you want to get precise) from all over the world. So on top of learning about the local culture, you'll also learn from your international crew.

The numbers speak for themselves: group travel is a safer way to see our world. Plus, our expert CEOs (Chief Experience Officers) have local knowledge you can count on as they lead you on your adventures.

Not required.

Seeing the world shouldn’t require spending all your savings. With us, you’ll get the travel experience of a lifetime, plus good bang for your buck.

We built our tour itineraries to feature a lot of free time, giving you the freedom to explore on your own, with your new crew, or whatever way suits your style.

A bit of that.

Like balance in your life? We can help. Our tours give you a healthy dose of culture during the day, before letting you get a taste for local bars and restaurants as the sun goes down.

Bali Trip FAQ's

When is the best time/month to travel bali.

What's awesome about Bali is that it's hot most of the time, making it a destination that can be travelled throughout the whole year. There are two main seasons in Bali: from April to September when it's hot and dry, and from October to March when it gets a little cooler and there's a higher chance of some rain. The tropical showers don't usually hang around for long; they pass through, cool you down, and then the sun comes back out! We run our small group tours in Bali all year round.

How many days in Bali is enough?

We suggest putting aside 2-3 weeks if you’re planning to travel to Bali for the first time alone. There is much to see and do, and you’ll need time to understand how things work as it can get a little tricky with all the different transport options. Our tour in Bali is just under 2 weeks and takes away all the hassles and worries of travelling alone. We’ll handle all the tough/boring stuff, giving you the freedom to enjoy each and every day to the fullest 🙌🏼

Do I need a visa to travel to Bali?

For most travellers, Bali is a very easy country to visit with a simple 'Visa on Arrival' process. There are over 40 countries eligible to travel to Bali through the VOA scheme, and the visa can be obtained on arrival for a small fee. Be sure to do your research as each country/passport can have different rules. It's your responsibility to ensure you've ticked all the necessary boxes to enter Bali hassle-free.

What injections/vaccinations do I need for Bali?

Similar to visas, we are not medical professionals and would hate to give you false or misleading information. We recommend you book an appointment with your doctor or local pharmacy to discuss your travel plans and what precautions you need to be aware of. They will provide up-to-date official guidance and will no doubt have your vaccination and immunisation history on file. All destinations and areas we travel to are generally low risk but best to be on the safe side. Click here for a useful resource provided by the UK NHS website .

What about COVID-19 travel restrictions in Bali?

It's always a good idea to check whether your destination or airline requires you to be COVID-19 vaccinated or tested to travel. It's your responsibility to stay up-to-date and ensure you join us on the Bali tour without any issues. Click here for a useful resource provided by the UK government .

What kind of people join these group tours?

It doesn't matter whether you're travelling solo, with a friend, or adventuring as a couple. Our trips are full of different people from all corners of the world with a common goal to have the BEST time with like-minded people. Our trips are super popular for people looking to explore a new place but don't want the worry of doing it alone or don't have the time to plan it themselves. Jumping on a group tour in Bali is a super convenient and hassle-free way to travel!

Are group tours in Bali worth it? Why would I not just travel solo?

Travelling alone is a big commitment and often requires a significant amount of planning both before you set off and when you arrive. It can be nerve-racking and often very overwhelming. Joining a group trip can remove all those worries and leave you completely worry-free with everything planned for you from the moment you arrive. Our Bali group tours include an airport pickup upon arrival, comfortable hotel/guesthouse accommodation, transport between locations here in Bali, local activities and experiences, and a bunch of meals to get you started.

I am looking to come alone, do many people travel solo?

Yes, absolutely! Most people actually come alone, with there often being a few people travelling together either as friends or as a couple. Our trips are perfect for solo travellers as you'll make friends from the moment you arrive, and you'll have the confidence and security of doing it as a group.

How much money do you need for 2 weeks in Bali?

Once you've booked your flights, paid off your trip and got some solid travel insurance you'll be all set for that Bali adventure. We suggest bringing no less than £300/$400 but this should be the bare minimum. Some people can spend less but the average will be looking at around £400-500/$500-700 to cover shopping, drinks, extra meals and anything else you fancy treating yourself to... maybe a few massages!?

What should I book first, the flights or the tour?

Great question! We always suggest getting the trip locked in first before booking flights. This way, you won’t be left disappointed if the trip goes full and you’ve already booked your flights. There are usually plenty of flight tickets available, but with our trips, the spaces are limited and the trips fill up pretty fast. We suggest booking your trip first, followed by your flight, and then purchasing your travel insurance to cover all eventualities. It’s a good idea to get these three out of the way as soon as possible.

How far in advance do you recommend booking my trip to Bali?

The average traveller typically books their trip 3-4 months in advance, which usually means there are plenty of options when it comes to dates. If you decide to book last minute, be prepared for limited availability. If you have your heart set on a specific date or trip, you should consider placing a deposit right away.

I’ve been looking at a few companies, what makes Feel Free Travel different?

If you're asking this question, you've probably not read what our incredible travellers are saying in the reviews . You would have noticed already that we are insanely passionate about sharing life-changing experiences with our groups. When we travel, it's more like a group of mates with that one friend who thankfully knows where they're going. Our group sizes are small and intimate, averaging 12-16 travellers. If you've not yet already, click here to join the 'Feel Free Family - Facebook Group' .

Is it possible to book a private tour of Bali with a group of friends?

We primarily specialise in bringing solo travellers together that arrive as complete strangers and soon become best friends/extended travel family. With that being said, we have been known to offer private tours subject to availability. If you send us an email to [email protected] one of the team will be in touch and see what we can do… no promises!

The trip was wonderful and in a special way, where you felt welcomed and comfortable immediately. Everything was mapped out for us in a structured way. His presence at all times made this trip the best experience I could possibly ask for.

You'll stay in some really awesome places that are a bit off-the-beaten path, and you'll learn a ton. Seriously, do this tour!

Wake Up in Bali

Great overview of Bali culture with rest days to indulge in the resort pool and facilities. Only down side of Bali is the traffic congestion, if you want to see the sites be prepared for lengthy car trips. Our guide, Yuda, was excellent as were our drivers. Well paced itinerary with all point of interest covered. I would suggest 3 or 4 days at Ubud instead of just 2 to save on travel back and forth to Benoa. Overall thoroughly enjoyable.

Essence of Indonesia, Private tour Tour

Essence of Indonesia, Private tour

I have never been to Indonesia before. This trip was very well organised from start to finish. On the 10th day we drove from Kuta to Uluwatu, where we visited the beautiful temple surrounded by hundreds of monkeys, which are considered the protectors of the locals. One of the monkeys had his mobile phone taken away by someone in our group and our tour guide went to incredible lengths to make sure he got it back. The tour guide was also very competent and always helpful. - I unfortunately don't remember his name. The accommodation and food were also very good. All in all, a successful trip.

Chanting of Paradise, Private Tour Tour

Chanting of Paradise, Private Tour

Our guides made sure that we were informed about the people and culture of Indonesia. Since we were already somewhat familiar with Bali, the Lombok/Gili parts of the tour were an excellent addition, for a broader understanding of the country, For us, there was the right mix of busy days of touring the sights, and days of rest, relaxation and time to explore on our own. Ending the tour with the beaches of Lombok and the Gilis ensured that we returned home relaxed and sun-kissed.

Gede was an excellent tour guide, his knowledge of all the local sights was brilliant. Things that could be improved on the tour: The accommodation was always located by really busy roads and despite earplugs the noise was disturbing and you didn't get much sleep. When you have early morning checkouts this can be fatiguing. The ferry to Lombok was not the best experience, to have to sit on the floor for 4-5 hrs was not really acceptable. I think G Adventures should charge a bit more and offer the fast boat. Maybe some of the traditional village tours could be swapped for other activities, but I appreciate people that joined for the Lombok tour hadn't seen the Bali villages. Everything else was well organised and ran smoothly.
Discover Lombok was a fabulous tour. Fascinating island not overrun with tourists. Local guide Ell was great, being from Lombok himself his knowledge/local insights were amazing and really added to the trip. The quiet east coast was stunning. Highly recommend this trip!
