Safari permissions for the Okta Browser Plugin
Users who install the Okta Browser Plugin on Safari are prompted to grant certain permissions to the plugin after installation. Safari specifically requires users to grant permission to read and alter page information to the Okta Browser Plugin , and warns users that this gives the plugin access to sensitive information. In order to function, the Okta Browser Plugin requires access to read and alter web pages so that it can save or autofill passwords to your apps. The Okta Browser Plugin will not record sensitive information that is unrelated to password management, such as credit cards.
Upon installing the Okta Browser Plugin for Safari, use the following instructions to ensure that the plugin functions properly in your browser:
- Open Safari Preferences
- Turn on the Okta Browser Plugin in Extensions. If you see another Okta Browser Plugin listed, turn it off.
- Once you have enabled the Okta Browser Plugin , click Always Allow On Every Website when prompted by your browser.

Safari Browser Keeps Prompting for Okta Browser Plugin Installation

To resolve the issue, can manually enable the plugin in Safari's settings. Here's how:
Open Safari on the computer.
Click on the Safari menu in the top left corner of the screen and select Preferences .
In the Preferences window, click on the Extensions tab.
Look for the Okta Browser Plugin in the list of extensions.
If it is disabled, enable it by clicking the checkbox next to it.
Close the Preferences window and restart Safari.
After completing these steps, the Okta Browser Plugin should be enabled in Safari and should no longer receive prompts to install it.

- Select the Okta Extension App .
- Sign in to the Okta End-User Dashboard to complete the installation. Your org app integrations are visible in the Okta Browser Plugin pop-up window.
- In the Firefox Browser Add-Ons, go to the Okta Browser page .
- Click Add to Firefox .
- Verify the permissions granted to the Okta Browser Plugin, and then click Add Extension .
- In the Microsoft Edge Add-ons store, go to the Okta Browser Plugin page .
- Click Get .
- Sign in to the Okta End-User Dashboard to complete the installation. Your org app integrations are visible through the Okta Browser Plugin pop-up window.
- Sign in to your Okta End-User Dashboard.
- On the Okta End-User Dashboard, click the Install the Plugin .
- If you're prompted to run or save the okta. swa. ie executable, select Run .
- In the installer, click Next on the Introduction step.
- Click Next on the Welcome step.
- Click Install .
- After the process is complete, click Finish .
- Go back your browser and follow the restart instructions in the new window.
