Power Trip Festival: Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne, AC/DC, Guns N’ Roses to Shake Coachella Grounds
By Kory Grow
Some of metal and hard rock’s most celebrated artists will decimate the Coachella grounds this fall for the inaugural Power Trip festival. Guns N’ Roses, Iron Maiden , AC/DC , Ozzy Osbourne , Metallica , and Tool are all set to play Indio, California’s Empire Polo Club on October 6, 7, and 8. Ticketing begins on April 6 at 10 a.m. PT; full info is on the fest’s website .
The gig marks AC/DC’s first concert since December 2016, which featured Axl Rose as their singer while frontman Brian Johnson recovered from hearing loss. It is unclear who, other than guitarist Angus Young, will be in the band’s lineup for the gig, though Johnson sang on their 2020 album, Power Up .
The Power Trip concerts will also mark Osbourne’s first full gig since New Year’s Eve 2018. Shortly after that gig, he slipped and fell in the middle of the night aggravating an old injury. He has been training to get back into performance shape ever since and has been performing one-offs here in there in recent years. Last year, he made a surprise appearance at England’s Commonwealth Games for a performance with his Black Sabbath bandmate, Tony Iommi, and also played the halftime of a Rams-Bills game . In February, Osbourne announced he was retiring from touring .

Metallica, who are putting out their newest album, 72 Seasons , next month (and released the album’s title track today), already had a number of gigs planned this year, as do Guns N’ Roses, who have a world tour. Iron Maiden’s only dates this year are in Europe for their Future Past tour, and Tool had just four other festival dates on the books.
In 2011, Goldenvoice, which produces Coachella, put together The Big Four festival on the grounds, which featured Metallica alongside Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax. The company also previously put together the Desert Trip festival , which also featured legacy acts like the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, and Paul McCartney, in 2016. Its annual country festival, Stagecoach, also takes place on the same grounds.

It's official: AC/DC, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Guns N' Roses, Ozzy Osbourne and Tool confirmed for first ever Power Trip Festival
The much-rumoured Power Trip Festival lineup has been confirmed, and it's packing the biggest set of rock and metal festival headliners ever
It's been the worst kept secret in the music industry this year, and now it's finally been made official: the first ever Power Trip Festival is taking place this October in California, and it's packing the biggest set of headliners in the history of hard rock and heavy metal.
Taking place from Friday October 6 to Sunday October 8 at the Empire Polo Club In Indio, California (the home of Coachella Festival, no less), Power Trip will be headlined by Guns N' Roses and Iron Maiden (Friday), AC/DC and Ozzy Osbourne (Saturday) and Metallica and Tool (Sunday). The festival marks the live return of AC/DC with Brian Johnson for the first time since 2016, as well as Ozzy Osbourne's first full headline set since his retirement from touring earlier this year.
Tickets are on sale next Thursday, April 6 from 10:00am PDT and start at $599. Camping is available at the festival, with Hotel Packages also set to go on sale soon. First access registration is available now from the official Power Trip Festival website .
Check out the official poster for this year's festival below. Quite the A-list lineup, eh?
Ozzy's confirmation of playing the festival represents a remarkable bounce back from his recent announcement that he is retiring from touring for good. While his set at Power Trip is unlikely to signal a return to the road, it does suggest he really isn't done with occasional live shows.
AC/DC's confirmation, meanwhile, will see Brian Johnson return to the stage with the Aussie giants for the first time since he was forced to quit the band mid-tour in 2016 due to hearing difficulties. More AC/DC and Ozzy Osbourne live dates are yet to be announced.

Judas Priest to replace Ozzy Osbourne at Power Trip festival

Ozzy Osbourne will be replaced by Judas Priest at October’s Power Trip festival.
The 74-year-old heavy-metal pioneer, who revealed in 2020 that he has Parkinson’s disease, announced Monday that he’d pulled out of the upcoming event because he wasn’t physically fit for the gig.
“As painful as this is, I’ve had to make the decision to bow out of performing on Power Trip in October,” Osbourne said of the festival that will bring a roster of veteran hard-rock acts to Indio’s Empire Polo Club. “My original plan was to return to the stage in the summer of 2024, and when the offer to do this show came in, I optimistically moved forward.
“Unfortunately, my body is telling me that I’m just not ready yet and I am much too proud to have the first show that I do in nearly five years be half-assed.”

Osbourne, who last toured in 2018, pulled out of a string of European tour dates earlier this year, saying he knew he “couldn’t deal with the travel required.” The Black Sabbath frontman performed a brief set in September during halftime at a Rams-Bills NFL game at Inglewood’s SoFi Stadium; his most recent studio album, “Patient Number 9,” came out the same month.
Goldenvoice, the powerful L.A. concert promoter that also puts on Coachella and Stagecoach, announced Tuesday that Judas Priest would be Osbourne’s replacement for Power Trip , which is also set to feature Guns N’ Roses, Metallica, Iron Maiden, AC/DC and Tool over three nights from Oct. 6 to 8. The festival comes seven years after Goldenvoice’s Desert Trip , which gathered classic-rock legends including Paul McCartney and the Rolling Stones, and rang up more than $150 million in ticket sales.
Widely regarded as one of heavy metal’s foundational bands, Judas Priest was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2022 during a ceremony at L.A.’s Microsoft Theater in which the group’s frontman, Rob Halford, joined Dolly Parton for a memorable rendition of her song “Jolene.”
In a statement, Judas Priest’s members said they were “ready to raise double horns way up high together” at Power Trip.

Power Trip Festival: Ozzy Osbourne, AC/DC, Metallica, GN’R, Iron Maiden, and Tool to Play Massive Rock Show
The post Power Trip Festival: Ozzy Osbourne, AC/DC, Metallica, GN’R, Iron Maiden, and Tool to Play Massive Rock Show appeared first on Consequence .
An incredible music festival called Power Trip will bring together the biggest names in hard rock and metal: Ozzy Osbourne , AC/DC , Metallica , Guns N’ Roses , Iron Maiden , and Tool . The three-day event is set for October 6th-8th at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California.
Power Trip is produced by Goldenvoice, the company behind Coachella. The vibe is similar to the promoter’s classic-rock-themed Desert Trip fest that happened in 2016, with only two bands playing each night, as opposed to dozens of acts. Fans can register now for the option to buy tickets starting at $599 at the official Power Trip website . Once registered, tickets will become available at 10 a.m. PT on April 6th.
Friday night (October 6th) will see Guns N’ Roses and Iron Maiden performing. On Saturday (October 7th), AC/DC and Ozzy Osbourne will take the stage. And on Sunday (October 8th), Metallica and Tool will close out the event.
While the full lineup is mind-blowing, the fact that Osbourne and AC/DC are playing should really turn some heads.
Recently, Ozzy announced that he was retiring from touring due to his various health issues, although he did leave open the possibility of playing one-off shows like this one.
AC/DC, meanwhile, haven’t played a show since 2016, and their last run of dates featured Axl Rose filling in as lead singer. This gig will mark the legendary band’s first show with classic frontman Brian Johnson back in the band.
See the event poster and concert photos of the participating bands below, and register for tickets here . There are camping options and hotel packages available, as well.

Ozzy Osbourne drops out of Power Trip music festival in October: 'I’m just not ready yet'
Ozzy Osbourne is not quite ready to make his planned onstage comeback. On Monday, the 74-year-old canceled his upcoming performance at the Power Trip music festival, which is set for October.
"As painful as this is, I’ve had to make the decision to bow out of performing on Power Trip in October," he said in a statement shared with USA TODAY.
He originally planned, he said, to return to the stage in summer 2024 but was optimistic when the offer to perform at Power Trip came up. "Unfortunately, my body is telling me that I’m just not ready yet," he said, noting he is "much too proud" to complete his first show in almost five years without being fully prepared.
Osbourne shared that the band that will replace him is to be announced shortly, adding that the group are personal friends of his and he expects fans won't be disappointed.
Power Trip is new festival, set to be held Oct. 6-8 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio. It is meant to deliver a heavier dose of rock with its lineup of Guns N' Roses and Iron Maiden on Friday (Oct. 6), AC/DC and Ozzy Osbourne on Saturday (Oct. 7), and Metallica and Tool on Sunday (Oct. 8).

Osbourne has dealt with a slew of health problems in recent years that have caused the "Crazy Train" singer to cancel other scheduled performances as well.
In February, the hard rock legend announced the cancelation of his 2023 tour dates in the U.K. and continental Europe. Osbourne issued a statement at the time saying damage to his spine suffered in an accident four years ago would prevent him from touring.
The musician has also been open about his struggles with Parkinson's disease. In 2020, the Prince of Darkness and his wife, Sharon Osbourne, shared the details of his battle with the disease on "Good Morning America."
"It's Parkin's II, which is a form of Parkinson's," Sharon said. "There's so many different type of Parkinson's. It's not a death sentence by any stretch of the imagination, but it does affect certain nerves in your body."
Although fans have known Ozzy has suffered from tremors and was diagnosed with Parkin symptoms in the early 2000s , the former Black Sabbath frontman said he didn't find out about his diagnosis until 2019.

Guns N’ Roses Join AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Ozzy + Tool on 2023 Power Trip Festival Lineup
The rumors have been hot and heavy this week about multiple iconic hard rock and metal bands heading to Indio, California this fall for a new festival event known as the Power Trip Festival . Earlier this week, AC/DC , Iron Maiden , Metallica , Ozzy Osbourne and Tool all posted teasers for Power Trip, which was described as an evolution of the 2016 Desert Trip festival. Given there were two acts for each day, Guns N' Roses have now been confirmed as the mystery sixth band.
Guns N' Roses, who were already scheduled to be on the West Coast for a weekend-closing set at the Aftershock Festival in Sacramento on Oct. 8, will be one of the opening night performers for Power Trip on Friday, Oct. 6 along with Iron Maiden.

The music weekend (Oct. 6-8) event will take place at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California.

Reminiscent of the company’s 2016 festival Desert Trip , which brought together the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, The Who and Roger Waters of Pink Floyd for two consecutive weekends, and the Big 4 Festival , which saw sets from Megadeth, Slayer , Anthrax and Metallica in 2011 at the venue, Power Trip looks to be Goldenvoice’s latest iconic global event.
The promoter’s flagship fest, the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival , takes place at the same venue and is happening April 14-16 and April 21-23, followed by its country music sister fest, Stagecoach , April 28-30.
As a teaser video for Power Trip was posted on the new festival website and Instagram account earlier in the week, fans from around the world began guessing what the vague video could mean. But it was the cacti shaped into the international hand gesture for metal music, or devil horns, that seemed like a big giveaway.
Los Angeles heavy metal band Metallica will be out later this year on its M72 World Tour, which includes two nights at every stop with two completely different sets each evening and rotating supporting acts. That tour hits SoFi Stadium in Inglewood Friday, Aug. 25 and Sunday, Aug. 27. Rock band Guns N’ Roses announced a 2023 tour that included dates at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego on Oct. 1 and a slot on the Aftershock Festival in Sacramento on Oct. 8.
English heavy metal band Iron Maiden already had plans to be out on tour overseas this summer and Los Angeles-based rock band Tool had a few shows planned in 2023, including playing Aftershock Festival in Sacramento on Oct. 6. Australian rock band AC/DC reunited in 2020 and singer Brian Johnson more recently joined members of Foo Fighters and Metallica in paying tribute to the late Foo’s anchor Taylor Hawkins during a concert at London’s Wembley Stadium last September.
Osbourne, the mighty Black Sabbath frontman , announced he was retiring from touring earlier this year, citing difficulties following several back and neck surgeries he’s undergone following a 2003 ATV accident and subsequent fall in 2019. In 2020, he also revealed that he’d been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and was under a doctor’s care. Though he was unable to complete his final tour, he shared with fans that he wouldn’t rule out occasional one-off performances.

Ozzy osbourne pulls out of comeback concert due to health: ‘i’m just not ready’.
Ozzy Osbourne will not make his highly-anticipated return to the stage at the first-ever Power Trip Festival in October due to health concerns.
The 74-year-old Prince of Darkness announced the news Monday on social media , telling fans: “My original plan was to return to the stage in the summer of 2024, & when the offer to do this show came in, I optimistically moved forward.
“Unfortunately, my body is telling me that I’m just not ready yet and I am much too proud to have the first show that I do in nearly five years be half-assed.”
The Post has contacted representatives for Osbourne for comment.
Osbourne was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2003 but waited until January 2020 to go public with his diagnosis.
In June 2022, he underwent a “life-altering” surgery to remove and realign pins in his neck and back from a 2003 quad biking accident that was exacerbated by a 2019 fall.
Osbourne has since been spotted walking with a cane on multiple occasions.
Last August, he stated that living with Parkinson’s felt like he was “walking around in lead boots. ”
Ozzy’s final full concert was at Ozzfest on New Year’s Eve in 2018.
He performed at an NFL halftime show in September 2022 before retiring from touring earlier this year in a heartbreaking post.
“Never would have imagined that my touring days would have ended this way,” Ozzy tweeted, claiming he was “not physically capable” of traveling to performances.
However, a month into his retirement, Ozzy teased a possible comeback .
“I’ve gotta do more gigs, [even] if I have to get someone to wheel me out there ,” he told Metal Hammer magazine in May.
“I mean, you can’t retire from this game. It’s not a job, it’s a f–king passion. I don’t know how to do anything else.”
Guns N’ Roses, Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Metallica and Tool are scheduled to perform at Power Trip , which takes place Oct. 6 to 8 at Empire Polo Field in Indio, California.
While Osbourne won’t give it a go, he revealed that members of the band replacing him “are personal friends of mine & I can promise that you will not be disappointed.”

Power Trip is taking place at the Empire Polo Field, the same site used to host the annual Coachella music festival, as well as the annual Stagecoach country music festival. It follows the Goldenvoice-produced Desert Trip festival in 2016 that was headlined by the Rolling Stones , Paul McCartney , Roger Waters , Neil Young , Bob Dylan and The Who . Ticket prices start at $599, covering all three days. Single-day tickets are not currently for sale.
Judas Priest toured extensively in 2022 and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame that year, but does not currently have any shows on the books for 2023. The band is booked to play a European tour in spring 2024. Led by vocalist Rob Halford, Judas Priest has toured extensively with Osbourne and had been scheduled to tour with him in 2022 before that tour had to be postponed for health reasons.
Osbourne’s health struggles also led to a March announcement that he was canceling his upcoming 2023 U.K. and European tour dates due to a spinal injury.
“My singing voice is fine. However, after three operations, stem cell treatments, endless physical therapy sessions, and most recently groundbreaking Cybernics (HAL) Treatment, my body is still physically weak,” Osbourne wrote on Instagram at the time.

As expected, a new hard rock festival called Power Trip , from the founders of Coachella, has announced its lineup: Metallica , Guns N’ Roses, Ozzy Osbourne, AC/DC, Iron Maiden and Tool. It will take place at Coachella’s home base of the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, Calif., Oct. 6-8.
Basically all of the news that leaked earlier in the week is accurate: Guns N’ Roses and Iron Maiden will perform on Friday, AC/DC and Osbourne on Saturday and Metallica and Tool on Sunday. The mighty but relatively small lineup seems designed to accommodate long, career-spanning sets from all of the veteran artists.

The artists also have performed together many times — in fact, in their rough-and-tumble days, Guns N’ Roses were kicked off of an opening slot on an early 1988 Iron Maiden tour because of what one might politely term their nasty habits, not that it caused any harm to their career. But Metallica and Guns N’ Roses toured stadiums as coheadliners in 1992 and GNR lead singer Axl Rose even filled in for ailing AC/DC singer Brian Johnson for North American dates in 2016, with generally impressive results.
Despite the Coachella connection, the festival is more like a hard rock version of Goldenvoice’s 2016 Desert Trip festival, which featured a classic-rock dream team of Paul McCartney, the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, the Who and Pink Floyd co-founder Roger Waters.

Ozzy Osbourne is off the bill for Power Trip; replacement band to be named soon
Singer Ozzy Osbourne announced on Twitter Monday morning that he is unable to attend the October Power Trip concert in Indio.
Here is Ozzy's statement: "As painful as this is, I’ve had to make the decision to bow out of performing on Power Trip in October. My original plan was to return to the stage in the summer of 2024, & when the offer to do this show came in, I optimistically moved forward. Unfortunately, my body is telling me that I’m just not ready yet and I am much too proud to have the first show that I do in nearly five years be half-assed. The band that will be replacing me on Power Trip will be announced shortly. They are personal friends of mine & I can promise that you will not be disappointed. Above all, I want to thank my fans, my band, and my crew for their unconditional loyalty and continual support. I love you all and I will see you soon. God Bless, Ozzy"

Power Trip is scheduled for October 6th-8th at the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio. Organizers say attendees will "experience the biggest names in heavy music at the world's premiere live event destination."
Stay tuned for updates and who will replace the singer for the weekend fall concert.
Health issues
As recently as last year, Osbourne had no plans to hang up his cloak. The Prince of Darkness said he had another tour, even with the Parkinson’s diagnosis he received in 2003.
“I’m saying to you I’ll give it the best shot I can for another tour. You have not seen the end of Ozzy Osbourne, I promise you. If I have to go up there and die on the first song, I’ll still be back the next day,” the rocker told The Guardian in August.
But in January, Osbourne announced he will take a step back to focus on his health . He has canceled his upcoming shows and said his touring career is over because he “is not physically capable (of it).”
This is probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to share with my loyal fans… pic.twitter.com/aXGw3fjImo — Ozzy Osbourne (@OzzyOsbourne) February 1, 2023
In addition to Parkinson's, Osbourne damaged his spine in an accident four years ago.
"My one and only purpose during this time has been to get back on stage," Osbourne said. "My singing voice is fine. However, after three operations, stem cell treatments, endless physical therapy, and most recently groundbreaking Cybernics (HAL) Treatment, my body is still physically weak."
He added in his statement that his team is "currently coming up with ideas for where I will be able to perform without having to travel from city to city and country to country."

The all-new Power Trip music festival promised to bring some of the world's legendary metal and rock powerhouses to the desert. Announced in March, the three-day music festival still has headliners Guns N' Roses, AC/DC, and Metallica.
The festival is set to happen on October 6, 7, and 8 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio. It's at the same location where Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and Stagecoach Festival happen.

History of Yaroslavl Oblast
The first people settled on the territory of the Yaroslavl region at the end of the late Paleolithic (about 22-15 thousand years ago), after the retreat of the last glacier, when its territory was covered by the glacial tundra, on which herds of mammoths grazed. At the beginning of the second millennium BC (Bronze Age), from the Middle Dnieper, the cattle-breeding tribes of the Indo-Europeans came to this region.
In the second half of the first millennium AD, the territory of the region was populated by the Merya. In the 9th-10th centuries, the Slavs began to settle in the Upper Volga region. The Yaroslavl region became the core of the Russian lands. The first Russian town in its territory was Rostov, which was mentioned in the chronicles in 862.
In 882, Kiev became the capital of the Russian lands and Rostov became the administrative center of the North-Eastern Russia (Rostov Principality). Among the famous princes of Rostov were Boris (one of the first Russian saints) and Yaroslav the Wise, who founded the town of Yaroslavl in 1010. According to the legend, Yaroslav subdued the local pagan tribes, when he axed the “sacred” bear they worshipped. The coat of arms of Yaroslavl reminds of this event.
From the second half of the 11th century, centrifugal tendencies were intensifying. The centers of four principalities were located on the territory of the Yaroslavl region. In 1238, the North-Eastern Russia was devastated during the Mongol invasion and became dependent on the Golden Horde.
More historical facts…
In the second half of the 13th - the beginning of the 14th centuries, the towns of the North-Eastern Russia were repeatedly ravaged as a result of raids. In 1463, the territory of the Yaroslavl region peacefully became part of the Grand Duchy of Moscow. After the foundation of Arkhangelsk, Yaroslavl became an important transit point on the way from Moscow to this northern port.
In the 17th century, the old Russian architecture was experiencing a new upsurge. In Yaroslavl, Rostov Veliky, Romanov-Borisoglebsk, Uglich, Kostroma, a lot of masterpieces of Russian architecture were created. The complex of Tolga monastery was formed, the center of which was the Vvedensky Cathedral (1681-1683). During the 17th century, more than 40 stone religious buildings were built in Yaroslavl.
The territory of the Yaroslavl region was badly damaged during the Time of Troubles. In 1777, Yaroslavl gubernia (province) was formed. In 1850, the Yaroslavl Tobacco Factory was established. In 1879, with the participation of Mendeleev, the Yaroslavl Oil Refinery was established. In 1870, the railway connected Yaroslavl with Moscow, and, in 1872 - with Vologda.
During the Civil War, there were no active military operations on the territory of the region, with the exception of the Yaroslavl and Rybinsk uprisings, which caused heavy damage to these towns.
After the forced industrialization of the 1930s, the sectoral structure of the local economy changed. Engineering and chemical industry became the main branches of the economy, while the traditional textile industry moved to the third place. In 1936, Yaroslavl Oblast was formed with the following three main cities - Yaroslavl, Rybinsk and Kostroma.
In 1944, Kostroma Oblast was separated from Yaroslavl Oblast. Since then, the boundaries of the region have not changed much. In 1935, the construction of the Rybinsk hydroelectric power station began, which led to the appearance of a vast Rybinsk reservoir on the Volga River and the flooding of the town of Mologa.
During the Second World War, more than 500,000 residents of the Yaroslavl region went to the front, more than 200,000 people were killed. After the war, the construction of the Rybinsk hydroelectric power station and the filling of the Rybinsk reservoir were completed.
In 1962, the Novo-Yaroslavl Refinery was opened, production of gasoline, fuel oil, kerosene, raw materials for the production of rubber, plastics, varnishes began. In this regard, the ecological situation in Yaroslavl deteriorated sharply. In the 1960s-1990s, Yaroslavl was invariably among the 50 most polluted cities of the USSR. In 1970, to the centenary of the birth of V.I. Lenin, a university was opened in Yaroslavl.
