Five locally owned businesses opening at Oak Court Mall this summer

Five new stores will open at Oak Court Mall over the summer, all of which are locally owned, general manager Carmen King said Tuesday. 

Three retailers, a new dining option and a dance studio will all open to customers in the coming weeks. 

Dance instructor Ladia Yates will open a L.Y.E. Academy location at the mall, her second in Memphis. The location will provide a space for dancers to train and perform. The academy will celebrate  the grand opening from June 4 to 6 with special guests including Kida The Great and Duke Deuce . It will be located on the upper level next to Journeys Kidz.

Kuyeria Dowsing will open Pink Label Lashes, which will be located on the upper level near Love Factory, to supply Memphians with a variety of self-application eyelash kits. 

In July, Great Scensations will open on the lower level by Dillard's. The retailer sells homemade, custom products ranging from fragrances to household items like scented carpet refreshers. All the products are made by owner Kristin Saulsberry.

The mall will also be adding a Mrembo vending machine on the upper level for those looking to purchase hair extensions. Owner Tamera Henderson came up with the concept to easily sell the extensions, which she also personally delivers to customers.

Oak Court Mall is also adding a new eatery for shoppers. Taste a Piece of Peace, located in the food court, will feature Southern cuisine including pork chops, mac and cheese, and yams. Chef and owner Jennifer Richardson's soul food-focused menu will also include other items like "her elevated milkshakes."

“To meet shopper demand, we are committed to delivering the right combination of retailers, dining, entertainment and events to keep shoppers engaged and returning often; our newest retailers are a reflection of our commitment," King said in a statement.
