Ghost Book 2022 North American Tour With Mastodon + Spiritbox

Ghost are set to bring their eye-catching live show to stages across the U.S. and Canada for a late summer / early fall trek, and they've got a pretty impressive bill of support for the run scheduled as well.

The mighty Mastodon and emerging rockers Spiritbox have signed on to support Ghost on the upcoming dates, while veteran metallers Carcass will also hop on board for the tour closing show on Sept. 23 in Green Bay, Wis.

The trek officially gets underway Aug. 26 in San Diego, Calif., primarily hitting arenas along the way. Ghost will break from the run on Sept. 8 to perform as part of the massive Blue Ridge Rock Fest lineup for 2022 before resuming the run through the Sept. 23 finale.

The newly announced leg of the "Imperatour" comes as the band is supporting their most recent album, Impera . The album, released in March, features the songs "Hunter's Moon," "Call Me Little Sunshine" and "Twenties." It peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 Album Chart.

Ghost announce huge tour with Mastodon and Spiritbox

Three of the coolest bands in metal today are hitting the road together!

Ghost have announced a blockbuster set of North American tour dates - and they're bringing along some heavyweight pals from the metal scene for the ride.

Joining Tobias Forge and his spooky crew on the next leg of the Imperatour worldwide trek are Atlantan riff beasts Mastodon and fast-riding modern metal hype machine Spiritbox (aside from two dates - Green Bay, Wisconsin, at which Mastodon will swap out for death metal legends Carcass, and Danville, Virginia's Blue Ridge Rock Fest, which will feature its own lineup).

The tour announcement also included a new chapter in Ghost's ongoing video series, featuring a somewhat awkward family dinner involving Papa Emeritus IV/Cardinal Copia, Sister Imperator and the ghost of Papa Nihil. Because of course.

Tickets for the tour go on sale this Friday (May 20) at 10 a.m local time via  Ticketmaster .

Ghost, Mastodon, Spiritbox Announce North American Tour

Ghost ,  Mastodon  and  Spiritbox  — three of Revolver HQ's favorite bands — are touring together later this year. The bands have announced a month-long run of North American dates that kick off in late August and wrap up in late September, with Ghost headlining in support of their Billboard -dominating new album Impera . 

The journey begins August 26th in San Diego and will hit many major cities throughout North America — including several Canadian dates — before concluding September 23rd in Green Bay, WI, for a show where Mastodon will be replaced by the goregrind pioneers Carcass. Ghost, Mastodon and Spiritbox have all released great new albums within the last year — and eached graced Revolver 's cover — so having them on one bill is a true treat.

The North American "Imperatour" will see the Grammy Award -winning Swedish theatrical rock band headlining 19 arenas across the U.S. and Canada (plus an appearance at Virginia's Blue Ridge Rock Fest ),kicking off August 26 at San Diego's Pechanga Arena and running through September 23 at the Resch Center in Green Bay. Support on all dates (with the exception of Green Bay which will feature support from CARCASS , and the Blue Ridge Rock Fest ) will come from Grammy Award -winning band MASTODON , who have quietly evolved into one of the most influential, inimitable, and iconic rock bands of the modern era, and SPIRITBOX .

GHOST is continuing to tour in support of its fifth album, "Impera" , which sold 70,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in its first week of release to land at position No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart. It marked the third top 10 album — and fifth top 40-charting set — for the Swedish act.

"Impera" landed at position No. 1 in Germany and Sweden, No. 2 in the U.K., Netherlands, Belgium and Norway, No. 3 in Australia, No. 5 in France and Ireland, and No. 20 in Italy.

"Impera" was released on March 11. The 12-song effort was produced by Klas Åhlund and mixed by Andy Wallace .

GHOST mastermind Tobias Forge worked on the follow-up to 2018's "Prequelle" with Åhlund and Swedish co-writers Salem Al Fakir and Vincent Pontare , whose credits include Madonna and Lady Gaga .

In March 2020, at final show of GHOST 's "Prequelle" tour in Mexico City, Mexico, the band officially introduced Papa Emeritus IV , the new character who is fronting the act for its "Impera" album phase.

Forge performed as a "new" Papa Emeritus on each of the band's first three LPs, with each version of Papa replacing the one that came before it. Papa Emeritus III was retired in favor of Cardinal Copia before the release of "Prequelle" .

MASTODON was one of the "Best Metal Performance" nominees at the 64th annual Grammy Awards , which was held on April 3 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The progressive metallers were nominated for their song "Pushing The Tides" , the first single from their latest album, "Hushed And Grim" , which came out in October.

The follow-up to 2017's "Emperor Of Sand" , "Hushed And Grim" was recorded at West End Sound , which is located inside of Ember City , the rehearsal facility that members of MASTODON manage in Atlanta. Helming the effort was Grammy -winning producer/mixer/engineer David Bottrill , who has previously worked with MUSE , DREAM THEATER and TOOL , among many others.

The "Hushed And Grim" artwork was created by longtime MASTODON collaborator Paul Romano , who also designed the sleeves for "Crack The Skye" , "Blood Mountain" , "Leviathan" and more.

"Emperor Of Sand" debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200. That LP was nominated for the 2018 Grammy Award for "Best Rock Album," and its opening track, "Sultan's Curse" , won the Grammy Award for "Best Metal Performance."

Ghost are returning stateside for another tour kicking off in the late summer. This time around, the Swedish metal lords will be joined by Mastodon and Spiritbox , making for a powerhouse bill.

Having already conquered US arenas on their winter trek with Volbeat, Ghost have just announced the new run of headlining dates for their “Imperatour.” The month-long outing kicks off August 26th in San Diego, and runs through a September 23rd show in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Tickets for the tour go on sale this Friday (May 20th) at 10 a.m local time via Ticketmaster , with a Live Nation pre-sale taking place on day earlier on Thursday (May 19th) using code FINALE .

Ghost released their fifth album, Impera , on March 11th, with the band embracing a ’70s arena rock sound on the LP. The single “Call Me Little Sunshine” has ascended to the top of the US rock radio chart.

Meanwhile, Atlanta metal heavyweights Mastodon returned in 2021 with their eighth studio album, Hushed and Grim , which they’ve already supported with a multi-leg co-headlining tour with Opeth.

GHOST Announces Summer 2022 U.S. Tour With MASTODON And SPIRITBOX

GHOST will once again bring the “euphoric spectacle” ( Rolling Stone ) of its live ritual to North America for the next leg of its globally dominating “Imperatour” . The North American “Imperatour” will see the Grammy Award -winning Swedish theatrical rock band headlining 19 arenas across the U.S. and Canada (plus an appearance at Virginia’s Blue Ridge Rock Fest ),kicking off August 26 at San Diego’s Pechanga Arena and running through September 23 at the Resch Center in Green Bay. Support on all dates (with the exception of Green Bay which will feature support from CARCASS , and the Blue Ridge Rock Fest ) will come from Grammy Award -winning band MASTODON , who have quietly evolved into one of the most influential, inimitable, and iconic rock bands of the modern era, and SPIRITBOX .

Leading the charge are heavy co-headliners Ghost and Mastodon who are already midway through their epic “Imperatour.”

The tour, named after Ghost’s recently released album “Impera,” will also feature fellow metal icons Spiritbox as well as plenty of pyrotechnics, hijinks and spectacle.

Bravewords called Ghost concerts “the aural equivalent of an amusement park visit” and Loudwire gushed that “the band’s production is spectacular and Tobias Forge continues to creep up the list of greatest modern-day frontmen.”

In addition to the tour, Ghost will headline at the Blue Ridge Rock Festival in Danville, Virginia from Sept. 8-11. Fellow acts on the bill include Slipknot, Disturbed, Mudvayne, Ice Cube, 3 Doors Down and many more.

Mastodon is set to perform at this year’s Louder Than Life Music Festival in Louisville, Kentucky taking place Sept. 22-25. They’ll be joined by Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nine Inch Nails, Slipknot, KISS and Rob Zombie.

Ghoulish rockers Ghost have announced 2022 tour dates billed as the Imperatour .

The newly planned concerts are set across large-scale North American venues in August and September. The opening acts for all the concerts will be Spiritbox while Mastodon will be on the bill for most of the American shows. Before the tour, Ghost have a couple of dates in their home continent of Europe.

When do Ghost 2022 tour tickets go on sale and what is the presale code?

The general public on-sale begins as early as May 20. Presales for VIP packages, fan club members, and American Express cardholders begin May 18. Spotify, Knotfest, Blabbermouth, and local venues / radio presales will follow. Keep in mind, each date is different and details are subject to change.

Ghost have announced the dates for a late summer North American arena tour. Mastodon & Spiritbox will join them on that trek, which will commence this August. Ghost will be touring on their latest album “ Impera ” and announced the trek alongside the below premiere of an eleventh chapter of their video series. Dates for this newly announced trek include:

Ghost Announce North American Tour With Mastodon And Spiritbox

The Imperatour launches this fall

Ghost are returning to North America this fall. Following their recent run with Volbeat, Ghost are set to headline arenas on the Imperatour with special guests Mastodon and Spiritbox. The trek kicks off on Friday, August 26 at the Pechanga Arena in San Diego, CA and wraps up on September 23 at the Resch Center in Green Bay, WI.

Tickets for Ghost’s North American Imperator will go on sale this Friday, May 20 at 10am local time via  https://found.ee/Ghost_Tour .  American Express® Card Members can purchase tickets in select markets before the general public beginning Wednesday, May 18 at 12pm local time through Thursday, May 19 at 10pm local time.

The newly announced dates will comprise Ghost’s first North American run since the March 11, 2022 release of its fifth album IMPERA via Loma Vista Recordings. Impera debuted at No. 1 in a sweep of the U.S. album charts, entering the Billboard 200 at No. 2 with first week sales of nearly 70,000. Internationally, Impera bowed at #1 in the band’s native Sweden as well as Germany and Finland, while peaking at No. 2 in the UK, Netherlands, and Belgium, No. 3 in Canada, Australia, and France, and No. 5 in Ireland. The album was produced by Klas Åhlund and mixed by Andy Wallace and features the No. 1 Billboard Rock charting “Call Me Little Sunshine,” and Active Rock #1 radio single “Hunter’s Moon.”

 The announcement of Imperator’s North American swing completes a perfect storm of Ghost mania, coinciding with this week’s ascension of “Call Me Little Sunshine” to the top of the Rock Radio chart and the unveiling of Chapter 11: Family Dinner, the newest installment of Ghost’s long-running narrative series of webisodes. In this next chapter, we find Papa Emeritus IV, having returned to the Ministry, joining Sister Imperator, Mr. Saltarian, and the spirit of Papa Nihil for a meal of Chinese takeout. Last Sunday marked the first stop on The Rolling Stones’ short but sweet North American tour this year, and it didn’t disappoint. The Houston, Texas performance at the NRG Stadium was incredible, with many fans praising the energy that the band displayed that seemed to defy age and reason.

The setlist was killer, too. While the setlist for the rest of The Rolling Stones 2024 Tour will likely not be identical to last night’s lineup of songs, it paints a picture of what fans can expect for the rest of the tour.
