How to disable ad blockers in Safari on Mac [2 methods]
If you’re using the Safari browser on your Mac and want to disable an ad blocker on it, then the following methods should help you get it done.
Method 1: Disable ad Blocker in Safari Settings
Safari has a native content-blocking system that prevents ads, popups, trackers, and other undesirable items from appearing on a website. This option is turned ON by default but you can disable it inside Safari’s Preferences to see a website with all of its elements appear as originally intended.
- To disable Content Blockers on a website, launch the Safari app on your Mac and go to the website you want to disable content blockers from.
- This should disable Content Blockers for this particular website but Safari will keep it enabled for other websites you visit. When you disable Content Blockers for a website on Safari, the website will reload and this time it will show all the elements of the page as it was originally intended.
- On the right-hand panel, you should be able to see a list of all the websites that are currently open on Safari and the ones you have configured content blockers on in two different sections.
Method 2: Disable ad blocker extensions
If you use a third-party extension on Safari for ad blocking, then you can also choose to disable it to unblock a certain element from a website. All third-party extensions come with a dedicated button that can be enabled adjacent to the Safari Address bar at the top. You can use this button to disable the ad blocker temporarily or to keep it switched off when visiting a website.
Disable extension temporarily
- To disable the ad blocker extension temporarily, open the Safari app on your Mac.
- Inside Safari, go to the website you want to whitelist for your ad blocker.
While the names of these options may differ from one extension to another, their functionality will remain more or less the same.
Disable extension permanently
- Inside the Extensions screen, uncheck the boxes adjacent to the several features of your ad blocker extension from the left sidebar. You can uncheck all the boxes of the ad blocker extension to disable all parts of the app’s functions.
How to disable ad blockers in Safari on iPhone [3 methods]
Similar to Safari on macOS, you can also disable content blockers on iOS’ native browser on your iPhone. However, you will have to install a third-party content blocker app on iOS and then enable it inside the Settings app for the Content Blocker setting to appear on your iPhone. In this instance, we’re using the 1Blocker app that has dedicated Safari extensions on iOS.
When you have a content blocker app installed on iOS, you can disable the blocker temporarily, for a particular website, or permanently depending on your preferences.
Method 1: Disable the ad blocker temporarily
- To disable the ad blocker temporarily for all websites you’re currently visiting, open the Safari app on your iOS device and launch any website.
Method 2: Disable ad blocker for a single website
If you wish to disable the ad blocker for a particular website, you need to access the Website View menu on Safari yet again.
- Open the Safari app on your iPhone, and go to the website where you want to disable the ad blocker on.
Method 3: Disable the ad blocker permanently
In case you don’t wish to use an ad blocker for a long time or permanently, you can disable it inside Safari settings on iOS.
Why should you turn off ad blockers on Safari?
There are a ton of reasons why you might want to disable ad blockers on your web browser. The biggest reason is an obvious one- it’s to access websites that aren’t visible when you have ad blockers enabled. Some websites depend entirely on the revenue they generate by displaying ads and can detect when you use an ad blocker to prevent it from being visible. The only way you can access these sites is to turn off ad blockers on these websites.
Most websites might be accessible with ad blockers enabled but parts of them like web forms won’t load up on some occasions. In those situations, you’re better off pausing your ad blocker temporarily so that you can get your work done or submit the form and then go back to reactivating the ad blocker.
Another major reason to turn off ad blockers is an ethical one. By disabling content blocking, you can support the sites and companies whose content you like and consume often. If a site shows less intrusive ads that don’t hamper your browsing experience, you can leave them unblocked so you can continue supporting their revenue.
Can you disable the detection of Ad blockers on Safari?
“It looks like you’re using an ad blocker”.
This is one of the phrases you may encounter when you visit a website that detects when you’re using an ad blocker to prevent ads from popping up on the site. This happens when a site detects that its ad-based resources are being hidden or rejected by your browser. Some websites are designed to track the presence of an ad blocker by extracting a fraction of the JavaScript code.
So, can you disable a site’s ability to detect an ad blocker on Safari?
Yes. One way to do that is by using the Anti-Adblock Killer extension on your web browser. The extension can be installed on most popular browsers including Safari but using it isn’t as straightforward as installing an extension on Safari. To block a page from detecting your ad blocker on Safari, you first need to install the extension for Safari, then subscribe to different filter lists, and install user scripts.
If you don’t want to go through this complex process, there are other easy but effective ways to evade ad blocker detection. These include:
- Use Private Windows on Safari : Going incognito is pretty much the best alternative to blocking. That’s because the ads that are shown to you won’t be targeted to you and even if you click on one, you don’t stand the risk of getting linked to your account. You can open a Private Window on Safari by going to Safari > New Private Window from the Menu bar at the top.
- Enable Reader View on Safari : Apple’s native web browser offers a dedicated reading mode that when enabled can force sites to be shown without javascript. When you toggle Reader View for a webpage, you will only be able to see the text and images present. With Reader View enabled, neither ads nor ad-detection prompts will load up or be visible on a webpage. Reader View can be enabled using the Reader View button on a website’s address bar or by using the Command + Shift + R keyboard shortcut on a website.
- Disable JavaScript on Safari : You can also permanently disable JavaScript for Safari by going to Safari > Preferences > Security > Web Content and then unchecking the Enable JavaScript checkbox. While you may escape ads and detection, you may also encounter issues when loading the website as some elements of the site may not load up on Safari or may malfunction.

This article teaches you how to turn off AdBlock on your Mac's preinstalled browser—Safari. It also helps you understand what AdBlock does when active.
Where Is the AdBlock Button on Mac?
There are two different methods of using AdBlock on your Mac. Both are within the default browser—Safari. Here's where to find it for individual websites and adjust it.
Open Safari on your Mac.
Right-click the address bar at the top of the screen.
Left-click Settings for website name.
Untick Enable content blockers to remove the Adblock feature from that particular site.
The site will now reload without the AdBlock feature enabled.
How Do I Disable AdBlock?
If you want to disable AdBlock across all websites on your Safari browser, the process is a little different. Here's where to look.
In Safari, click Safari .
Click Preferences .
Click Websites .
Click Content Blockers .
Click the name of the website you wish to switch the AdBlock or content blocker off on.
Click Remove .
The AdBlock is now removed.
What Does AdBlock Do?
Enabling the Content Blocker or AdBlock tool prevents ads such as pop-ups or banners from loading on websites you visit. It can also disable cookies and scripts that websites try to load.
Can I Use Other AdBlock Software?
Mac users are not restricted to using Safari's Adblock tool. It's also possible to download third-party apps or extensions. That means you can use adblocking software on other browsers such as Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.
Why Would I Enable or Disable AdBlock?
It's straightforward to switch AdBlock on or off through Safari, but it's important to know why it's worth using and why it's worth switching off sometimes. Here's a look at the main reasons.
- AdBlock protects you from unwanted content . If you browse a website full of ads, you may want to avoid looking at them. Switching on AdBlock is helpful here.
- AdBlock stops the website from benefiting from your visit . Ads on websites are there to provide limited funding in some places. Cutting off this form of income can make it more challenging for the website to operate.
- AdBlock can limit the risk of malware. It's not widespread, but web ads can contain some browser exploits. More commonly, a site full of ads can confuse you into clicking on a link or an ad you didn't mean it. That's only the case with less reputable sites, though.
- AdBlock improves the user experience. Some websites clutter their site with ads, making it a less enjoyable experience to browse and much harder to read the information contained on the page.
To enable cookies on Mac , go to Safari > Preferences > Privacy and uncheck Block all cookies . Enabling cookies allows your browser to store reusable data like email addresses or saved shopping cart items.
Install the AdBlock extension for Chrome to block ads on YouTube and other sites. To block pop-ups in Chrome , go to Settings > Site Settings > Pop-ups and redirects > Blocked .
You may need to clear your Mac's cache and cookies . If it's still not working, try disabling all your extensions except AdBlock.

How to Turn Off Your Safari Ad Blocker
AdBlock’s Blog
We can all agree that pop-ups are one of the internet’s worst inventions. Sure…making a window pop open over content a user wants to see is a genius way to get them to pay attention. But it provides a poor user experience that we’re all tired of. It’s no wonder many Safari users have turned to using a Safari ad blocker to combat this experience.
However, there are times your Safari ad blocker can get in the way of seeing a pop-up you need to. Some websites rely on pop-ups to show you important information like options screens for printing or downloading, download confirmations, or results pages.
And some web publishers use anti-ad blocker walls to keep their content private unless your ad blocker is disabled. In some cases, you might choose to see ads and turn off your ad blocker to access their content.
If you use AdBlock as your Safari ad blocker, here’s how to temporarily turn it off:
- Open the AdBlock for Safari app.
- Click on Pause Ad Blocking.
When you click Pause Ad Blocking, the web page you’re on will reload automatically. It may take a few moments for all of the previously blocked ads to appear.
Once you’re ready to begin blocking ads again, follow these steps:
- Click on Resume Ad Blocking.
Again, the page will reload automatically and without ads.
If there’s a website that you’d like to always allow ads on, you can add it to your allowlist. This will automatically turn off AdBlock whenever you visit that site while keeping ad blocking turned off everywhere else.
To add a website to your allowlist:
- Under Allow ads on a site or page , click Manage .
3. On the next screen, enter the URL of the site you want to add to the allowlist in the textbox and click Add Website.
Once the site is added, you’ll see it on your allowlist. And if you ever want to remove the site from your list, you can visit your allowlist again and simply delete it from there.
We understand that sometimes you just need to turn off your Safari ad blocker . That’s why we’ve made it easy to do so when you use AdBlock for Safari . If you’d like to give AdBlock a try, simply head to the Mac app store to download the app. And if you have any questions, we’re here for you at [email protected] .

Introduction
Safari, the widely used web browser developed by Apple, is known for its sleek interface, robust security features, and seamless integration with Apple devices. One of the features that users often encounter while browsing the web is the ad blocker. While ad blockers can help enhance the browsing experience by reducing intrusive ads, there are instances where users may need to disable this feature. Whether it's to support a favorite website, access specific content, or troubleshoot browsing issues, knowing how to disable the ad blocker on Safari can be valuable.
In this article, we will delve into the intricacies of ad blockers on Safari and provide a comprehensive guide on how to disable this feature. By understanding the underlying mechanisms of ad blocking and following the step-by-step instructions, users can gain more control over their browsing experience and make informed decisions about when to enable or disable ad blocking on Safari. Let's embark on this journey to unravel the mysteries of ad blockers and empower ourselves with the knowledge to navigate the digital landscape with confidence.
Understanding Ad Blocker on Safari
Ad blocker, a prevalent feature in modern web browsers, serves as a shield against intrusive advertisements that often disrupt the browsing experience. Safari, Apple's flagship browser , incorporates a built-in ad blocker that aims to enhance user privacy and streamline web content consumption. This feature works by identifying and blocking various types of ads, including pop-ups, banners, and autoplay videos, thereby creating a more seamless and distraction-free browsing environment.
The ad blocker in Safari operates through a combination of techniques, including pattern matching, content analysis, and resource blocking. By analyzing the structure and behavior of web elements, the ad blocker can effectively distinguish between ad content and legitimate website components. This enables Safari to selectively suppress ads while allowing essential website elements to load unhindered.
Furthermore, Safari's ad blocker leverages a database of known ad servers and patterns to proactively prevent ad content from being fetched and displayed. This proactive approach significantly reduces the likelihood of encountering intrusive ads, contributing to a more streamlined and enjoyable browsing experience for users.
It's important to note that while ad blockers offer numerous benefits, they can also impact the revenue streams of content creators and publishers who rely on ad-based monetization. As a result, some websites may request users to disable ad blockers to support their content or access specific features. Understanding the functionality of the ad blocker on Safari empowers users to make informed decisions about when to disable this feature, thereby striking a balance between a clutter-free browsing experience and supporting content creators.
By gaining insights into the inner workings of the ad blocker on Safari, users can navigate the digital landscape with a deeper understanding of how ad blocking technology shapes their online interactions. This knowledge forms the foundation for effectively managing ad blocker settings and optimizing the browsing experience based on individual preferences and ethical considerations.
Steps to Disable Ad Blocker on Safari
Disabling the ad blocker on Safari is a straightforward process that grants users the flexibility to adjust their browsing preferences based on specific needs or website requirements. Whether it's to support favorite content creators, access ad-dependent features, or troubleshoot website compatibility issues, knowing how to disable the ad blocker empowers users to make informed decisions about their browsing experience. Here's a comprehensive guide outlining the steps to disable the ad blocker on Safari:
Accessing Safari Preferences : To initiate the process, launch the Safari browser on your Mac or iOS device. Next, navigate to the "Safari" menu located in the top-left corner of the screen and select "Preferences" from the dropdown menu. This action opens the Safari Preferences window, where various browser settings and features can be configured.
Navigating to the Websites Tab : Within the Safari Preferences window, locate and click on the "Websites" tab. This section provides a comprehensive overview of website-specific settings, including those related to content blockers, notifications, and more.
Selecting Content Blockers : Under the "Websites" tab, find and select "Content Blockers" from the left-hand sidebar. This action reveals the content blocker settings, allowing users to manage the behavior of ad blockers and other content-blocking extensions on a per-website basis.
Disabling Ad Blocker for Specific Websites : In the Content Blockers section, users can view a list of websites for which ad blocking is enabled. To disable the ad blocker for a specific website, simply locate the website in the list and uncheck the box next to "Enable content blockers." This action instructs Safari to allow ads and other blocked content when visiting the selected website.
Customizing Ad Blocker Settings : For more granular control over ad blocking, users can click on the "Details" button next to the Content Blockers section. This opens a window where specific ad blocking rules and settings for individual websites can be customized, providing a tailored approach to managing ad blocker behavior based on unique preferences and requirements.
By following these steps, users can effectively disable the ad blocker on Safari, granting them the flexibility to support content creators, access ad-dependent features, and tailor their browsing experience to align with specific website requirements. This level of control empowers users to strike a balance between ad-free browsing and supporting the digital ecosystem, ultimately enhancing their overall web browsing experience on Safari.
In conclusion, the ability to disable the ad blocker on Safari provides users with a valuable tool for customizing their browsing experience and navigating the evolving landscape of online content. By gaining a deeper understanding of the ad blocker's functionality and following the step-by-step guide to disable this feature, users can harness the power to support content creators, access ad-dependent features, and tailor their browsing environment based on individual preferences.
The seamless integration of ad blocking capabilities within Safari underscores Apple's commitment to user privacy and a streamlined browsing experience. The proactive nature of Safari's ad blocker, which leverages pattern matching and content analysis, contributes to a clutter-free web environment while mitigating the impact of intrusive ads. This, in turn, enhances user satisfaction and fosters a more immersive online experience.
However, it's essential to recognize the broader implications of ad blocking and strike a balance between ad-free browsing and supporting the digital ecosystem. Content creators and publishers rely on ad-based monetization to sustain their operations and produce valuable content. By selectively disabling the ad blocker for specific websites, users can contribute to the sustainability of online content while enjoying ad-supported features and services.
Moreover, the granular control offered by Safari's ad blocker settings empowers users to make informed decisions about when to enable or disable ad blocking based on ethical considerations and individual preferences. This level of control aligns with Apple's commitment to empowering users with tools to manage their digital experiences effectively.
In essence, the ability to disable the ad blocker on Safari represents a pivotal aspect of user empowerment and ethical browsing practices. By embracing a nuanced approach to ad blocking, users can support the digital content ecosystem while enjoying a tailored and immersive browsing experience. This balance between user empowerment and ethical considerations underscores the significance of understanding and effectively managing ad blocker settings on Safari , ultimately shaping a more harmonious and sustainable digital landscape.

How to Disable AdBlock on Major Web Browsers
AdBlock is a popular content filtering extension for major web browsers like Google Chrome, Apple Safari, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, and Microsoft Edge.
We also reviewed this extension in our best ad blocker roundup. As the name suggests, its main function is to block unwanted and annoying advertisements from being displayed when you surf the Internet.
However, installing AdBlock prevents you from accessing websites whose revenue is driven by display ads. For example, I wanted to visit CNN but ran into this warning instead.
I can easily whitelist those sites, but it’s going to be very time-consuming because I don’t know which sites are like CNN and which are not. Also, I want to ensure I never run into this problem again. So today, I am going to show you how to disable or remove AdBlock in commonly used browsers, step by step.
This guide is best for those of you who want to temporarily disable Adblock because you need access to a certain website, but you plan to enable it later on in order not to get spammed by those annoying advertisements.

Alternatively, you can click on the AdBlock icon at the top-right corner beside the three vertical dots, then hit Pause on this site .
Note: I’m using Safari on an Apple MacBook Pro, thus the screenshots are taken on Safari for macOS. If you’re using the Safari browser on a PC or an iPhone/iPad, the interface will be different. However, the processes should be similar.

Step 2: Find the AdBlock extension and click the geared setting icon.
Step 3: Toggle AdBlock from on to off. If you want to completely remove this ad blocker extension, hit the Uninstall button below.

Adblocker advert pop-ups continuously on my computer. They are more frequent and more annoying than pop-up adds. Because of these constant popup adblocker adds, I will never subscribe for Adblock.
I turned off unlock ad still not working
I’m gonna transport back to 2010 before all this “ab blocking” b.s. That should do the trick.
BTW…does anyone have a working transporter available? Mine’s not quite finished yet.
I do not have ad block on chrome. The site still wants me to disable what isn’t there. So what do I do?
I have been watching SBS on Demand without any problems, but today I get a message saying that there is a problem, and I should remove or disable an adblocker. I have never installed one of these. I can still access SBS on Demand on my TV. What can I do?
I have removed all of my ad blocker programs, but still get the warning msg on Firefox and Chrome. I am beginning to believe that there is something in the registry left over which is triggering the warning! But What? I have tried uninstalling the browsers and re-installing them with no luck. Is there a common file in the blocker programs which might make the browsers think I still have an ad block program installed?
P.S. The ads that are blocked are inside text of news articles. I have plenty of ads, but I’ve become totally blind to them. So why does the film company insist that I turn off my ad blocker.
You tell me how to turn off adblocker, but I have no adblocker once I get to where you send me nor anything that appears a possible blocker.
I have the misfortune to be on Chrome 10. I know that some ads are blocked, but I have no idea of what blocks them. I’ve been on this all evening when I’d hoped to see 2 films, but they won’t show with the mysterious adblocker blocking.
It would have been better in any case for your clear description to show how to whiteline than to shut down the whole thing.
So what’s the next idea?
I dont have ad blocker i have standard protection,I have allowed pop ups and adds on sbs on demand,I have disabled personalize adds on google,I have tried the edge browser and followed directions on tracking, have allowed cookies , and updated the browser and NOTHING IS WORKING to get videos to play on sbs.Any advice?
I can play videos from SBS On Demand on my mobile phone and tablet, but not on my laptop. I do not have an Adblocker installed, so are there any instructions for allowing SBS On Demand in this circumstance?
I don’t have the Ad Blocker, and yet it gives this problem! ????????????????
for those who does not have the adblock, you can disable it this way: beside the url is a padlock icon (eg. (lock) google.com). click that icon and go to SITE SETTINGS. in the SETTINGS, scroll down the page until you see the ADS option and then select the drop down arrow across it and select ALLOW. the ads will now be allowed on the site you needed. note: i am a google chrome user. i don’t know if this is applicable for other browsers.
I don’t believe you can remove ad blocker from Edge. Don’t know where you get your “info” you are sharing with everyone, but you need to make something else up.
this does not work for a chromebook
I have been through your recommendation for Chrome, but cannot find ad blocker anywhere

How to disable pop-up blocker for all websites in safari, how to disable pop-up blocker for specific website in safari.
Safari blocks all kinds of pop-up windows by default. In that mix, it ends up blocking some legitimate ones. Here's how you can disable the pop-up blocker in Safari for all websites or specific ones on Mac.
Many websites offer helpful pop-ups to enter important details such as login credentials, captcha, forms, and more. So it makes sense to allow pop-ups for certain websites.
It's annoying to click on the pop-up blocked notification every time you visit sites that require you to allow pop-ups. Luckily, you can change Safari's default behavior and get pop-up windows while browsing.
To get started, open the Safari browser on your Mac. Next, click "Safari" in the top-left corner of the menu bar and select "Preferences."
Click the "Websites" tab.
In the "General" column on the left, scroll down and select "Pop-up Windows."
Use the drop-down menu next to the "When Visiting Other Websites" option in the bottom-left and choose "Allow."
Safari will allow all future pop-up windows for all websites.

If you want to allow pop-up windows for a specific website (like a bank site), Safari lets you do that too. First, open Safari on your Mac, then browse to the websites you want to allow pop-ups for.
Next, click "Safari" in the menu bar and select "Preferences."
In Safari Preferences, click the "Websites" tab.
Scroll down in the "General" column and select "Pop-up Windows."
On the right, you'll see the list of websites open in Safari and the option "Block and Notify" set for each site. Use the drop-down menu next to a site and select "Allow." Repeat the same to allow pop-ups for the other websites on the list.
That's it! Close the Preferences window, and you're ready to go. When you're done, you might want to update Safari on Mac to make the best of the latest pop-ups blocker settings. Happy Browsing!

Block or Unblock Pop-Ups in Safari for One Website

Step 2 : Go to the Websites tab, scroll down, and select Pop-up Windows from the left sidebar.
Step 3 : Click the drop-down menu for the website and select either of the following,
- Allow – The Safari browser will allow all pop-ups from all websites)

How to Enable Pop-Ups on Safari in Real-Time
Interestingly, even when using a trusted website you don’t really have to allow pop-ups in Safari. The wise plan is to choose Block and Notify, so you can choose whether to allow or block pop-ups on a case basis.
Now when you visit the said website and a pop-up comes up, you’ll get a block notification. If you want to show the pop-up, click the Show pop-up blocker from the address bar.
While macOS security doesn’t easily allow viruses or bloatware to be installed, there are certainly risks involved. Moreover, hackers can use these to collect personal information. So, overall allowing all pop-ups is definitely not safe.
As a general rule, it’s a good practice to block all pop-ups by default. However, you can choose to Allow or Block and Notify them for trusted websites that require pop-ups for essential features.
Safari’s built-in pop-up blocker is generally sufficient for most users. However, if you frequently encounter pop-up issues or want more advanced features, third-party ad-blocker extensions can be used. Although, it is advised to use a blocker from reputable sources to avoid potential security risks.

Don't ignore the warning. Just think it through and if you're OK with potential consequences, then decide what to do. No one will have a decisive answer here because of the war.
