A History of the Club

1880’s – Chippenham Sports Club Formed

1912 – Chippenham Town Bowls Club founded with a 4 Rink Green

1930’s – Additional 2 Rinks added

1960’s – Ladies Section founded

2004 – New Championship standard Green Opened

2004 – New Pavilion Opened

2012 – New floodlights added allowing games to continue well into the night!

Wiltshire County Four Rink League Champions 13 times the latest in 2018. Runners-Up 5 times

Mid Wiltshire Triples League Champions 23 times, Runners-up 8 times

2017 – Alan Stell, (sub John Lucas), Mike Travers, Jeremy Haselton, Steve Heseltine –  Wiltshire Over 55’s County Fours runners-up; Rob Clews, Jim Fitzpatrick, Rich Gainey, Neil Connor – Wiltshire County Fours Runners-up; Alex Wickham & Steve Heseltine – Wiltshire County Pairs Runners-up

2014 – Mixed Fours Double Rink – Wiltshire County Runners-up; Jim Dix – Wiltshire County Unbadged Singles Champion

2012 – Wiltshire were Runners up to Norfolk in the Middleton Cup with Paul Macdonald and Dave Godwin from Chippenham Town playing in all rounds[; Billy McCay –  Wiltshire County Singles Champion; Dave Godwin & Paul Macdonald – Wiltshire County Pairs Champions

1986 – Wiltshire won the National County ‘Middleton Cup’ with 4 Chippenham Town BC players

The Wiltshire Middleton Cup team continues to call on Chippenham Town Members for players
