Most Quebec City tour packages can be customized to according to your interests. Ask about these popular attractions when you book Quebec tour packages from Toronto and other departure points.
Chateau Frontenac
Chateau Frontenac is one of Quebec City' most famous hotels. Located in Old Quebec, the hotel was constructed as part of an effort to restore the neighbourhood to its 17th-century glory. The original funding fell through, so the Canadian Pacific Railway stepped in and built Chateau Frontenac as part of its railway hotel system.
Over the years, the hotel has been renovated several times. World leaders and other famous individuals have also stayed there while visiting Canada, making Chateau Frontenac a popular destination for tourists. When you book your Quebec train tours, ask about staying at Chateau Frontenac or taking a tour while you're sightseeing.
Old Quebec City
Old Quebec City is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with a unique look and feel. The area has many historic sites, including ramparts built in the late 1690s to protect the city against enemy attack. It's also home to Petit-Champlain, a street packed with boutiques. You'll find everything from handmade jewelry to one-of-a-kind works of art, along with high-end restaurants, murals and excellent examples of French architecture. Enhance your Quebec vacation with a private walking tour led by a local insider.
#1 Travel Tip: Plan to walk around
Quebec City is a highly walkable city, even in Winter. Make time to walk around the cobbled streets and explore unique boutiques and shops in the alleyways. Rue du Trésor is a hidden gem.
Site Traditionnel Huron Onhoüa Chetek8e
Step back in time with a visit to Site Traditionnel Huron Onhoüa Chetek8e (Onhoüa Chetek8e Traditional Site). The site pays tribute to the Huron-Wendat Nation, which consisted of eight clans. You'll get to see a giant teepee, visit several smoking huts and listen to some of the legends passed down by clan members. While you're there, try some traditional Huron-Wendat cuisine or take a guided tour of the exhibits.
Food Tours
If there's a foodie in your travel group, consider customizing your trip with a foodie tour in Quebec City. Each tour features mouthwatering food and gives travellers a chance to connect with experienced chefs. You may even get to try some craft brews or handmade chocolates.
#2 Travel Tip: Book your food tour early
This popular activity is a fantastic way to learn about the local culture as you nibble on delicious treats. Some tours are seasonal and book up quickly.
Highlights of Peggy's Cove
This tiny fishing village (population 35) attracts nearly a million tourists per year – drawn to the glow of the iconic lighthouse standing proudly on a craggy shore. The most photographed lighthouse in Canada, it's an icon of local marine heritage.
When to go : Visit during shoulder season (late spring or early fall) for fewer crowds but still pleasant weather.
The highlight : Sink your toes into the sand of Bayswater Beach Provincial Park, a peaceful place to relax and enjoy a picnic.
Recommended trip : The Canada Eastern Rail Classic includes a tour to Peggy's Cove.

We had a group of 21 on this tour. A great group who enjoy traveling from different parts of the U.S. and Canada. Made all the better by our wonderful director, Mathieu! He not only showed us his home country, but gave us so many interesting facts about everything we felt we had been educated even ...
Love being part of the group but also being on my own to explore streets and gardens. In the photo you can see that I discovered these very interesting window boxes on the second floor in Quebec City. EFgoahead tours are the best! Great hotels and very informative tour guides. Thank you Frank.

There's a lot to see during this amazing road trip, so be sure to read until the end to plan out the best journey you can.
How far is Quebec City from Toronto and how long will the road trip take?
The road trip from Toronto to Quebec City covers 800 kilometers and takes around 8 hours to drive - if you leave Toronto around sunrise, you could easily get to Quebec City in time for an evening out.
With that said, this is the kind of road trip you definitely won't want to rush - if you can help it. Try to take around a week to explore all the places this epic route has to offer.
Starting off at Lake Ontario, the route takes you past some of the most stunning attractions at the Canadian-American border. This gives you some nice leeway if you want to detour to attractions in North America to spice up your trip.

Best road trip route from Toronto to Quebec City
Road trip route from toronto to quebec city.
Pay a visit to Rice Lake, then spend some time at Belleville before pulling into Kingston. Further east, take a break at Thousand Islands Conservation Area, then detour into America to visit Boldt Castle by boat if you can.
Back on the main route, drive out to Selton and detour to Charleston Lake Provincial Park. Then, get back on Route 401 and follow it to Brockville (be sure to visit Brockville Railway Tunnel!), then visit the Upper Canada Village near Morrisburg.
Spend some time in Cornwall and at Saint-Zotique Beach, get on Autoroute 20 and visit Fort-Coteau-du-Lac. Then get on Autoroute 30 and cross the St Lawrence Tow Bridge and visit St Timothee Islands Regional Park, and be sure to make a stop at Montreal.
Drive past Mont-Sant-Bruno National Park before getting on the Trans-Canada Highway, and visit Village Québécois. Detour to Victoriaville and Parc National de la Mauricie - Entrée St-Jean-des-Piles, then get back on the main route and follow it to Quebec City.
Best places to stop between Toronto and Quebec City
The relatively lengthy road trip from Toronto to Quebec City passes through a number of major cities, so there should be no shortage of places to rest up for a night or two. These are some of the best hotels the route has to offer:
Relax in a spotless room in Montreal
Montreal is one of the biggest metropolises in all of Canada, so it stands to reason that it would house some of the area's finest hotels. If you want an unforgettable stay, be sure to book a room at The Ritz-Carlton, Montreal, famous for its breathtaking interior design .
The rooms at this hotel are made to impress, so you're guaranteed to feel rejuvenated after spending a night here. If you're feeling hungry, the three on-site restaurants should have no trouble filling you right up for a day of sightseeing in town.
If you want an ocean-like experience, a saltwater pool is available on-site, and for something even fancier, consider spending an afternoon in the beautiful spa center.
Some days are lazier than others, so if you don't feel like getting out of bed, you can get pampered with an in-room massage. Once you've recharged your batteries, all the best attractions in Montreal will practically be right at your doorstep.
The hotel is a bit expensive, but since it offers everything you could possibly want and imagine, the price tag is more than fair.
Enjoy the very best of Quebec City
The colonial Quebec City is one of the most beautiful spots in all of Canada, so for the cherry on top this road trip, you'll want to book the city's best hotel - that would have to be Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac , whose views of St Lawrence River are as amazing as they come.
The only thing better than the rooms themselves are the hotel's awe-inspiring panoramas, which can be enjoyed from the rooms and terrace areas alike. Also, every part of this hotel just looks five-star - even the hallways are like something out of a medieval castle.
Boasting everything from a swimming pool and hot tub to a fitness area and steam rooms, this hotel goes above and beyond to cater to its guests' every whim.
Every kind of dish you could think of can be found at the on-site restaurants, and once your appetite's been quenched, you can go explore the countless attractions located right around the corner from the resort.
Price-wise, your stay here will be quite expensive by Quebec City Standards, but this is undoubtedly the city's finest hotel, so this is something to be expected.

- Montreal - Home to the Notre Dame Basilica and The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Quebec's largest city is one you definitely need to spend a few days in.
- Village Québécois - A similar attraction to Upper Canada Village in many respects, this blast from the past features about 100 19th century-style houses and constructions
- La Mauricie National Park - One of Canada's finest nature resorts, this park is a refuge for countless incredible animals residing along the St Lawrence River.
The great thing about this road trip is that you can spice things up at any point by crossing over into The States - if you're feeling adventurous, the states of New York, Vermont, and Maine are never too far from the main route.
Best time to go on a road trip from Toronto to Quebec City
The road trip from Toronto to Quebec City is quite different depending on when you decide to do it - both the route and the final destination benefit from visiting at different times of the year.
If you want to make the most of Lake Ontario during the drive, you may want to do the trip during the warmer months. This allows you to go for a dip and enjoy all the provincial parks that make this route so unique.
Ottawa City's peak tourist seasons are summer and winter - the mid-20s Celsius temperatures in the summer allow for plenty of interesting outdoor festivals, and despite the cold weather in the winter, events like The Quebec Winter Carnival never fail to draw a large crowd.
If you're less interested in mingling and you want to explore the city's signature attractions, spring and fall are also great times to visit. The weather these times of year is quite mild by Canadian standards, and the lack of crowds means you can get a sweet deal on a hotel room.
Also, for non-Canadian travelers, you may want to consider whipping out your winter tires, even if you're traveling in the spring - the cold climate means that winter's snowfall will often linger into March or April, especially around the Montreal area.

Yes Tour Was Great we got to see more places this way than if we would have not taken a tour.
Historic Cities of Eastern Canada
This was the first time I’d been on a holiday to North America and also the first time I’d been on an escorted holiday. The group size was around 30 people (mainly couples), in total there were four single travellers on the holiday, most people on the holiday would have been over 50 years old. This holiday isn’t suitable for someone who can’t stand heights or who doesn’t like boat trips as two boat trips are included and lunch up the CN Tower is included, while some of the hotels in Canada are very tall and don’t have that many rooms per floor – I was on the 30th floor of the hotel in Toronto. The first day we got an oldish, not very luxurious coach but the tour director did say the coach and driver would just be for that day and for the rest of the trip we would have a different coach, which was a newish Globus branded coach which had better seating and more leg room than the coach we had on the first day. Apparently the different coach and driver on the first day was down to working hours for the main driver so I imagine it happens every time. In Ottawa the tour director promised us something that wasn’t advertised. It turned out this was the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Museum. I found this disappointing as it wasn’t very interesting and an included tour of the Parliament building or the Royal Mint would have been of far more interest to me. Local guides provided tours in Quebec City and Montreal. I think the one of Quebec City worked well but the one of Montreal was 2 hours, mainly on the coach (after already having spent most of the morning on the coach) alighting only to go inside a Cathedral and at a photo opportunity from a vantage point so I would have preferred a bit more walking around Montreal. For included meals be aware that you won’t have the full restaurant menu to order from but a special menu which doesn’t have as many options, in some cases there was only one available option for starter or dessert. If you book this tour and it’s possible I’d recommend arriving on Thursday and departing on Sunday as both Toronto and Montreal are huge cities and the tour only gives you limited time in both cities. For me it wasn’t possible to stay an extra night in Montreal and I don’t feel there wasn’t enough time to see the city.

The cities we visited were beautiful, I just wish that the time on the bus was less. Change the dinner place in Ottawa, not up to your standards! We did not enjoy the canal cruise, it was too long, boring, and would have preferred that time to see sights. Ben was excellent! His historic knowledge, stories, and sense of humor made traveling most enjoyable. Our bus driver was such a gentleman and so accommodating. His driving was superb, I never felt unsafe. Most enjoyable was Niagara Falls and Quebec. Wish we had more time in Quebec less time in Montreal.

Toronto to Quebec City
Price: $96+ one-way
Why You Need To Go: In Quebec City, you'll find a perfect blend of city and nature this summer.
Nature lovers will definitely want to check out Montmorency Falls , a dramatic 83-metre-high breathtaking waterfall that's even taller than Niagara Falls.
The falls are located just 15 minutes from Old Quebec in Montmorency Falls Park, which also has hiking trails and a zipline.

Price: $224+ one-way
Why You Need To Go: You can enjoy a scenic train ride from Toronto to Halifax that will lead you to Canada's ocean playground.
Just 40 minutes from the train station, you can visit the iconic Peggy's Cove. An iconic Nova Scotia attraction, Peggy's Cove is a stunning area where you can see the historic lighthouse built in 1915, watch waves crash along the coastline and explore the rocks.
Peggy's Cove is also an active fishing village, and you can even go on a tour of the area. Keep your eyes peeled while you explore, because you might spot whales or seals just off the coast!
Don't forget to try some classic East Coast food while you're here, like lobster.
Toronto to Moncton
Price: $198+ one-way
Why You Need To Go: This trip will take you from YYZ to the "entertainment capital" of Atlantic Canada.
In Moncton, you can experience Acadian culture, enjoy fresh seafood, and see the tidal bore, a phenomenon caused by the Bay of Fundy tides.
Just 30 minutes from the city, you can visit the iconic Hopewell Rocks. The Hopewell Rocks are 23 sea stacks that can be found along the shoreline of the Bay of Fundy.
When the tide is high, the stacks appear much smaller, with only the tops poking out from the water.
However, if you wait about six hours, the area changes drastically; the tide recedes so far out that it exposes the rocks completely, transforming them into huge, towering formations.
While the tide is low, you'll be able to walk on the ocean floor, explore secluded coves and sea caves, and find newly exposed treasures like sea glass, fossils and semi-precious stones.
Toronto to Jasper
Price: $424+ one-way
Why You Need To Go: You can visit Canada's Rockies this summer on this scenic train ride from Toronto.
Just minutes from the train station, you can head to Jasper National Park, a stunning national park with endless opportunities for outdoor adventures.
Here, you can enjoy swimming, scuba diving, boating, kayaking, and almost any other water activity you can think of, in addition to a multitude of hiking and biking trails.
Be sure to check out the Miette Hot Springs, where you can soak in 40°C water.
The park is also a great place to spot wildlife like caribou, elk, moose, mountain goats, bighorn sheep, bears, and wolves.
As the world's second-largest dark sky preserve , Jasper National Park is also a great place to stargaze, so be sure to stick around after dark.
Toronto to Vancouver
Price: $514+ one-way
Why You Need To Go: On board VIA Rail's Canadian train, which has been called one of the best train rides in Canada, you can go from Toronto to the West Coast and take in the beauty of Vancouver.
Less than 20 minutes from the station, you can visit Grouse Mountain, the "alpine playground" of the city.
Here, you can enjoy a skyride that will give you jaw-dropping views of B.C.'s majestic nature, visit a wilderness sanctuary home to grizzly bears, try ziplining and take on the Grouse Grind, a 90-minute trek called "Mother Nature's Stairmaster" because of its steep grade and elevation gain of about 850 metres.
Also in the area are the city's iconic Stanley Park and the Vancouver Seawall.
Happy travels!

Quebec To Vancouver: How Much This Canadian Coast-To-Coast Train Trip Will Cost
- Taking a train in Canada allows travelers to experience the natural beauty of the country in a way that words cannot describe.
- Many people overlook train travel, but it can be a budget-friendly and slower-paced option for exploring Canada.
- An 18-day coast-to-coast train trip with Amtrak allows travelers to see incredible sights from Halifax to Vancouver for a reasonable price.
For those who have never traveled to Canada before, taking a train can give visitors a true taste of what the country has to offer. Outside the hustle and bustle of the metropolitan landscape is natural beauty that words cannot describe. From the mountains to the grasslands, the ocean, and even rainforests, Canada is a country filled with natural wonders.
Unfortunately, taking a train to see the countryside is not something that most people think of when booking their reservations. The goal is usually to get to the destination as quickly as possible. While this may be necessary with some vacations, if taking a Canadian vacation on a budget , many travelers may be better suited to a slower pace. A slower pace allows time to see everything on the itinerary but includes sights that may have never been considered before.
All of this can be done for less than the cost of a plane ticket and hotel reservations when taking the train from one coast of Canada to the other. Here is how much a Quebec to Vancouver Canadian coast-to-coast train trip will cost.
10 Scenic Amtrak Trains, Ranked By Visitor Reviews
Amtrak's quebec to vancouver coast-to-coast experience, travelers can take an 18-day coast-to-coast train trip with amtrak.
For those who choose to see Canada by rail, they will be enjoying an 18-day adventure from Halifax to Vancouver. There is no need to worry about planning and the little details. Once boarded, passengers will get settled in as the train makes its way to Quebec City, with its historic city center and other worthwhile attractions .
From Quebec City, Montreal is the next destination. Here, a list of amazing attractions can be found , such as the Notre Dame Basilica, the Place Jacques Cartier, and Old Montreal can be toured without rush, and then it is off to Toronto to enjoy culinary fare that is as diverse as the population is.
Once the city of Toronto has been seen, passengers will be able to take in the beauty of Canada's top tourist attraction, Niagra Falls , and the natural wonder that it is. But not to be outdone are the snow-capped mountains in the Canadian Rockies that can be seen as the train makes its way into Jasper.
Toronto To Vancouver: Ride Canada's Longest Train (A Four-Day Trip)
As if that snowy beauty was not enough, passengers will get the opportunity to explore a glacier as they enter Banff. In conjunction with exploring the Crowfoot Glacier, several lakes, and Athabasca Falls will be seen as well.
If there is time to explore, hot springs abound in Banff as well . All of this is a stark contrast to the final stop in Vancouver, a bustling metropolis that has amazing shopping at Granville Island and a step back into history when exploring Gastown.
Given that so much of Canada is seen on this trip, many expect the trip to break the bank. But with many meals and accommodations already factored in, the price per person is reasonable compared to other forms of travel.
How Much Does The Quebec To Vancouver Coast-To-Coast Train Cost?
A quebec to vancouver amtrak trip costs about $4,000.
When booking the trip from Quebec to Vancouver, passengers are going from one coast of Canada to the other. In doing so, they are covering 2,358 miles and taking 18 days to do so, so that eight incredible sights can be seen along the way.

Other Coast-To-Coast Canadian Routes To Consider
Amtrak offers other canadian train trips.
For those who have a desire to see a similar tour of Canada from coast to coast, some options take slightly less time than the 18-day journey from Halifax to Vancouver.
The first option is a 17-day and seven-sight tour that takes off from Vancouver and ends in Halifax. Many of the same sights are seen along the way. However, less time is spent in Vancouver on this eastbound trip and only two meals are offered instead of three. If this is not an issue, going in the opposite direction may be a great option.
- A Vancouver to Halifax trip starts at $3,849 per person .
Train From Vancouver To Banff: How To Take This Scenic, Bucket-List Journey
The second option is very similar to the 18-day journey from Halifax to Vancouver. However, less time is spent in Halifax on this westbound trip, making the trip a grand total of 17 days. Also, there are only two meals included instead of three.
- A Halifax to Vancouver trip starts at $3,649 per person .
There truly is nothing like taking a trip via the rails to get a true idea of what a vacation destination is like. Being able to slow down, not have to worry about the details, and explore more than likely would have been seen if planning a trip via car or plane, makes a coast-to-coast train trip through Canada one to remember.

"Extreme" G5 geomagnetic storm reaches Earth, NOAA says, following "unusual" solar event
By Li Cohen
Updated on: May 11, 2024 / 8:32 PM EDT / CBS News
An "extreme" G5 geomagnetic storm reached Earth on Friday, NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center said , after issuing a watch earlier in the day warning of the potential for a severe impact.
The watch followed days of solar activity that sent several explosions of plasma and magnetic fields toward Earth.
G5 is the strongest level of geomagnetic storm , on a scale from G1 to G5.
"Widespread voltage control problems and protective system problems can occur," NOAA warns. "Some grid systems may experience complete collapse or blackouts. Transformers may experience damage."
Radio transmissions and satellite navigation may also be disrupted.
The last G5 geomagnetic storm, in October 2003, caused power outages in Sweden and damaged transformers in South Africa.
A geomagnetic storm also means aurora borealis , otherwise known as the northern lights , could be seen as far south as Alabama and in Northern California.
Earlier, NOAA had issued its first watch for a potential G4-level geomagnetic storm in almost 20 years. "If geomagnetic storms were hurricanes, 'severe' would be category 4," SpaceWeather.com says.
In a press release on Thursday, NOAA said the most recent series of solar events started on May 8, when a large cluster of sunspots produced "several moderate to strong solar flares." Solar flares are bursts of radiation known to be the solar system's largest explosive events, according to NASA. The area where the flares are occurring is 16 times the diameter of Earth, the NOAA said, and more solar activity is expected.
That sunspot is so big you may be able to see it with your own eyes — with your solar eclipse glasses. The spot is known as AR3664 , and it was responsible for most of the geomagnetic activity Friday, the NOAA reported. According to Space.com, it measures about 124,000 miles across and is one of the "largest and most active sunspots seen this solar cycle."
The NOAA reported that a strong solar flare was observed peaking from AR3664 at 9:23 p.m. Eastern Time Friday.
"Flares of this magnitude are not frequent," the prediction center said .
Still have your solar eclipse glasses? There's currently a sunspot so large you will be able to "spot" it while wearing them 15x wider than the earth! pic.twitter.com/XpQJEd4Qk0 — Eric Fisher (@ericfisher) May 9, 2024
There has also been a series of coronal mass ejections (CMEs), which are explosions of plasma and magnetic fields that come out of the sun's corona, the outermost part of the sun's atmosphere. At least five CMEs appear directed toward Earth and could arrive as early as midday on Friday and persist through Sunday, the agency said.
"This is an unusual event," NOAA said.
In a call with reporters on Friday, Shawn Dahl, service coordinator at the Space Weather Prediction Center, said that some CMEs "are catching up with other ones." He said officials are expecting a "big shock arrival" when they hit Earth. Dahl said at the time that while officials weren't predicting a G5 storm — the strongest of geomagnetic storms — they couldn't discount a "low-end G5 event."
"We're really buckling down here," Brent Gordon, chief of the space weather services branch, also said on the call.
G4 conditions were detected by Friday afternoon, marking a "major disturbance in Earth's magnetic field," NOAA said, adding that "the public should stay properly informed of storm progression."
In a forecast discussion at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center said that solar activity is expected to continue at "high to very high levels" through the weekend, with additional solar flares expected, including X-class flares , the most powerful class of solar flares.
As of Friday afternoon, NOAA said it had observed a moderate solar radiation storm that could expose people in high-flying aircraft to "elevated radiation risk" and cause infrequent issues with satellite operations.
Radio blackouts have also been detected with an R3 designation, meaning that the blackouts were "strong" on a scale from R1 (minor) to R5 (extreme). At this level, wide blackouts of HF radio communication is expected, as well as loss of radio contact, for about an hour on the sunlit side of Earth, as low-frequency navigation signals decline for roughly an hour.
"Geomagnetic storms can impact infrastructure in near-Earth orbit and on Earth's surface, potentially disrupting communications, the electric power grid, navigation, radio and satellite operations," NOAA said. "[The Space Weather Prediction Center] has notified the operators of these systems so they can take protective action."
Dahl agreed Friday that the event is "pretty extraordinary" and said that it could impact infrastructure, including high-voltage transmission lines of the power grid. Dahl said that infrastructure operators have been notified to adequately prepare.
This is the first time a storm watch has been issued for a G4 since January 2005. There is an average of 100 severe geomagnetic storms every solar cycle, but so far, there have only been three observed in the most recent cycle that began in December 2019. The most recent occurred on March 23.
