You’re rumbling along one of America’s most scenic highways, the wind whipping through your hair. You’re perched on a classic red bus, the kind you see on postcards, surrounded by the jaw-dropping grandeur of Glacier National Park. Sound too good to be true?

Forget the rental car stress! Glacier’s got iconic Red Bus Tours, the perfect way to soak up those incredible views –  and even spot a few elk and mountain goats – while someone else handles the driving.

East Side vs. West Side Tours

Choosing where to start your Red Bus adventure is half the fun! Glacier National Park’s distinct eastern and western sections each offer their unique brand of Rocky Mountain grandeur. Understanding the differences will help you pick the Red Bus experience that’s the ultimate fit for you.

The east side is where those vast Montana plains melt into the mountains. Here, shimmering lakes reflect snow-capped peaks, wide valleys frame cascading waterfalls, and the horizon stretches on forever. Blackfeet Nation history runs deep throughout this area and adds another rich layer to the landscape. There are four different east-side tours to choose from, ranging between 2.5 to 8 hours in length.

On the west side , sheer cliffs replace mellow slopes, dense forests cling to mountainsides, and the iconic Going-to-the-Sun Road winds precariously through it all. This side offers heart-thumping elevation changes and the feeling of being truly amongst the mountain giants. You can choose the right west-side tour for your schedule, with four options between 3 and 9.5 hours long.

Picture-perfect lakes, sweeping valleys, Blackfeet Nation history , a touch of that wide-open Montana feel. If you’re all about those picture-perfect lakes and sweeping valleys, the east side’s your jam. Think St. Mary Lake , Two Medicine, Wild Goose Island… it’s the land of dramatic vistas.

High alpine passes, the dramatic Going-to-the-Sun road, a ‘deep in the mountains’ ruggedness. Get ready for the high alpine drama! The west side of Glacier is home to the Going-to-the-Sun Road , winding its way up to Logan Pass and jaw-dropping mountain peaks.

Best Tour for You?

glacier national park

Not all tours are the same, so let’s figure out your perfect match.

Think of your Red Bus Tour as the key to unlocking Glacier’s best – but the right key matters!  Not every tour itinerary is created equal, and understanding the choices available will make a major difference in your experience.

Consider your time constraints, the type of scenery that makes your heart sing, and any unique interests you have. Remember, this is about making your Glacier dreams a reality!

  • Short on time? Half-day tours pack in a scenic punch, but you’ll miss out on a full traverse of Going-to-the-Sun Road. These are great if you have limited vacation time or want to combine the tour with other park activities.
  • Love those mountain views? Look for a tour that focuses on the high alpine sections – Logan Pass, the Garden Wall, stuff like that. These will bring you to the park’s heart with its imposing peaks and dramatic drop-offs.
  • History buff?   Special tours delve deep into the Red Buses’ history and the park’s creation. You’ll get behind-the-scenes knowledge and stories that transport you back in time.
  • Mobility concerns? Be upfront with the tour operator. Those old buses have charm but also some limitations. Inquiring beforehand allows the operator to suggest the most comfortable options and helps avoid disappointment on the day of your tour.

In-Depth Look at Popular Tours

Let’s break down some favorites. Remember, prices and departure times change, so check the official website for the latest!

  • The Classic – Going-to-the-Sun Road: This is the bucket-list ride through the heart of Glacier. You’ll cross the Continental Divide , spot alpine meadows, and maybe even a mountain goat or two. (Tour length: Varies depending on departure point)
  • Hidden Gem Seeker – Many Glacier Tour: Go off the beaten path into the stunning Many Glacier Valley. This one’s for wildlife lovers and those who want a less crowded experience. (Tour length: Full day)
  • History and Scenery Combo – Crown of the Continent: This full-day epic combines the best of Going-to-the-Sun Road with stops at historic lodges and insights into how this park came to be. (Tour length: Full Day)

Things to Know Before You Go

Your Red Bus adventure will be unforgettable, but a little planning goes a long way! Here’s the inside scoop to ensure your tour is all smooth sailing:

  • Book ahead: Especially during peak summer months, these tours sell out quickly. Don’t risk disappointment – reserve your spot the moment your Glacier travel dates are set.
  • Layer Up: Mountain weather is unpredictable. Even a sunny morning can turn chilly the moment you hit those high mountain passes. A packable rain jacket, a cozy fleece, and a warm hat are your go-to defenses against changing conditions.
  • Binoculars are your friend: Whether you’re hoping to spot a mountain goat on a distant cliff or want a closer look at a cascading waterfall, binoculars are invaluable. Pack a compact pair for easy access.
  • Leave only footprints: Glacier is a pristine wilderness. Help keep it that way by packing out all your trash and respecting posted signs about staying on trails.
  • Photography Tips: Those vintage buses make for fantastic photos! If you want a shot of yourself with the bus, ask your friendly tour guide – they’re usually happy to snap a quick picture.
  • Tipping: While not mandatory, it’s customary to tip your driver/guide if you had a great experience. They work hard to make your journey memorable!

Red Bus Tours aren’t just a way to see Glacier National Park–they’re a piece of its history.  Whether you dream of heart-pounding mountain passes or chasing waterfalls, there’s a perfect tour out there for you.

So, what are you waiting for? It’s time to ditch the driver’s seat and let those vintage wheels carry you into adventure!

Driving around Glacier is a spectacular way to see the sights – particularly along Going-to-the-Sun Road – but drivers may sometimes miss out when they're behind the wheel. Let someone else do the driving by taking a famed Red Bus Tour. These buses – chauffeured by drivers known as "Jammers" – date back to the 1930s, and feature canvas rollback tops that offer unencumbered views of the surrounding landscape. Plus, each bus accommodates just 16 passengers.

Tour Duration and Details

There are nine tour routes in total. Tours depart from Many Glacier Hotel, Swiftcurrent Motor Inn, St. Mary Lodge and Rising Sun Motor Inn on the east side. On the west side, you can catch the tour at Lake McDonald Lodge, Apgar Visitor Center and the West Glacier KOA. Additional departure points may be available for select tours. Depending on which route you take, you could explore popular sights like Lake McDonald Lodge, Logan Pass , St. Mary Valley and Two Medicine . You may also get to see the alpine areas of Going-to-the-Sun Road. Tours run during the peak season – typically from June through September or October – but exact dates will vary depending on the weather. Duration also varies by tour: They can last from about 2.5 hours to eight hours or more.

Fees vary based on tour, activity duration and departure point. For short tours, expect tickets to start at $50 for adults and $25 for children. Daylong tours cost about $110 for adults and $55 for children.

Recent Reviews

Tour-takers commented that the bus is a great way to see the park. They added that it's much more relaxing than driving yourself, but note that seating can be a bit cramped. Many travelers also complimented the guides for their great driving and informative commentary. Others warn that you will need to book tickets well in advance as tours sell out quickly.

Note: There are no physical nor virtual tickets for the tour. You will check in for your tour at your pickup point's front desk or concierge desk at least 15 minutes before the tour departs. For schedules and to purchase tickets, visit the Glacier National Park Lodges' website .

U.S. News Insider Tip: Grab your coffee to go and drive up Going-to-the-Sun Road at dawn. It's magical to witness the majestic alpenglow on Glacier National Park's mountain peaks as the sun rises. It's also your best chance to see wildlife before the road becomes too busy. – Kelsey J. Lawrence

Iconic Red Bus Tours in Glacier National Park

Roe Emery (1875-1953) was one of two principals behind the creation of Glacier’s iconic Red Buses. Emery and Walter White, a vice president of the Cleveland-based White Motor Company, which built the Red Buses, introduced transportation to the park in 1914.

Many in the current fleet of Red Buses have been in service since the mid-1930s. The Red Buses were the first authorized motor transportation utility in any National Park.

Red Buses In Glacier National Park, Montana

In 1914, Glacier National Park was the first park in America to offer motorized tours. White Motor Company built Model 706, a bus that was used throughout the national park system.  Glacier Park is the only national park still using the vehicles.

From Glacier National Park : Each bus can hold 17 people and one driver with 4 across on bench seating.  It's a very snug ride. The Red Bus Tours usually sell out every day.  Red Bus Tours start up for the year in June.  If you're planning a trip to Glacier National Park, make sure to reserve your seat by clicking here . Tour prices (at the time of writing) are running from $62 for adults all the way up to $118 per adult, depending on which tour you have chosen.

The Red Buses Are Being Overhauled To Keep Them On The Road

From The Flathead Beacon , Xanterra Parks & Resorts have been busy rebuilding the buses over the last few years, despite delays from the Covid 19 Pandemic. 33 of the 35 original buses are still in use today.  One was wrecked, and one has been preserved by the National Park Service.

What Is Being Done To The Buses?

Quite a bit.  Buses are getting new engines and chassis along with a more effective heating system for the driver and the passengers.  New, more historically accurate dashboards have been installed and the drivers now, finally, have a cup holder.  LED lights have also been installed on the brake lights and turn signals.

Discovering Kindred Spirits With Travelers Over 50

Ride With Rosemary — Red Bus Tours In Glacier National Park

Historic red bus tours are a perfect way to see glacier national park.

Grans on The Go with The Red Bus Tours in Glacier National Park

We were a little unsure what we would see on a foggy and rainy day in the mountains on our planned tour. But as soon as Jammer Karl greeted us for our Red Bus Tours in Glacier National Park, we knew we were in for a fabulous day.  Our four-hour tour traveling the Going-to-the-Sun Road was full of history, adventure, and entertainment, all within the comfort of this historic small bus.

Rosemary, of the Red Bus Tours in Glacier National Park

Historic Red Buses

The vintage red buses are numbered, indicating the order in which they arrived in the park, and many are affectionately named by their drivers. Ours was “Rosemary,” named for Jammer Karl’s mother. Her dark brown leather interior shined from expert care. She was roomy and allowed four adults to slide in easily on the long bench seats.  Her suspension creaked a little as she pulled up the hills, which seemed all a part of her charm.

Going-to-the-Sun Road

Glacier National Park’s “Going-to-the-Sun-Road” is an iconic drive of 50 miles of mountain curves and sometimes cliff-hanging turns.  Taking the Red Bus Tour allowed us time to see the spectacular scenery in a relaxing way.

Mountain view of cloudy peak, valley, and river in Glacier National Park

The trans-mountain road was built between 1920 and 1933 and crosses over the Continental Divide at Logan’s Pass.  Construction crews climbed along narrow ledges, hanging onto ropes over death-defying cliffs. Experts used small blasts of explosives to prevent significant damage to the landscape. At times, excavation of rock was done by hand.

Although the employee turnover rate was 300%, only three construction workers lost their lives during the lengthy construction period. The road is named for the nearby Going-to-the-Sun Mountain, a legendary mountain that reaches toward the sun.

How to book Red Bus Tours in Glacier National Park

Book your Red Bus Tour while you’re planning your trip to Glacier National Park. The tours are very popular and tend to sell out on a daily basis. The typical open season is May-September. As examples, the 2019 Eastside tours operated from June 8 to September 22. The 2019 Westside tours operated from May 18 to October 20. Because of their original design, seating in the buses does not accommodate wheelchair accessibility.

Where to catch the Red Bus Tour

Red Bus Tours pick up passengers in five prominent locations in both the east and west sides of Glacier National Park: Glacier Park Lodge , Apgar Village Lodge , West Glacier Village ,  Motel Lake McDonald  and St. Mary Village . All tours are round-trip and last from 2.5 – 9 hours, traversing the Going-to-the-Sun-Road.

Accessibility in Glacier National Park

If you’re driving into the park,  be sure to check the current road status in the park for road closures due to weather and construction repairs. National Park Service shuttles are also an option if you prefer not to drive. Book shuttles in advance. Some shuttle routes offer wheelchair accessibility. Some walking trails and stops along the road are wheelchair accessible.

Two wheelchair-accessible vehicles have been added to the Xanterra Parks and Resorts tours fleet. The accessible tours follow the same itinerary as the standard tours and depart on the west side from the Apgar Visitor Center and Lake McDonald Lodge, and St. Mary Visitor Center on the east side.

See Glacier Park in a Unique 1930’s Bus

The earliest transportation in Glacier National Park consisted of four-horse coaches. Today’s Red Bus Tours in Glacier National Park uses a fleet of 17-passenger buses built and put into service between 1936-1939. The White Motor Company designed the Model 706s specifically for use in the national parks in the U.S. In Yellowstone National Park tours use the same model buses, painted bright yellow.

The Red Buses were built between 1936-1939 (NPS Stock Photo)

Riding in the vintage bus enhances the experience and spurs the imagination of touring the national park in the 1930s. The bus interiors preserve in their original craftsmanship with wood trim and a large steering wheel.  Thankfully, the motors are kept up to modern standards. Soon the fleet of buses will undergo further updating to a hybrid system for environmental effectiveness. The restoration will span several years with the work being done in the off-season.

Open-air tours provide wide-open views for photos

On beautiful days the drivers rollback convertible canvas tops. The open-air design lets passengers view the vertical grandeur of the mountains and deep valleys while looking over the cliffs.

With the top up on our bus and wool lap blankets, we stayed warm on our rainy day. Our driver often stopped at overlooks, timing the stops with the weather, so the two seemed to be in cooperation with each other.

History lessons included

The Red Bus Tours, managed by Xanterra Parks & Resorts, hire drivers who are like park docents with their knowledge of history. We were fortunate to have a driver who was witty and entertaining. The entire four-hour tour seemed like a moment because of our “Jammer” Karl.

Rosemary, Red Bus #89, stops so visitors can view the overlook

The buses shine brightly with red paint, like the Ripe Mountain Ash Berry of Glacier Park. They are nicknamed “The Rubies of the Rockies.” They originally cost $5000 each in 1936, and today’s worth is approximately $250,000 each. The fleet has been in use since 1936, with the exception of the years between 1943 and 1946, when fuel rationing during WWII was in place.

Karl explained that the drivers became known as “Jammers” because of the familiar sound of the gears as the drivers of the early manual transmissions double-clutched up and down the steep mountainous road.  They were first called Gearjammers,  later shortened to “Jammers.”

Women Were Discouraged from Riding in the Front

The early drivers were often college-aged men, and some of the stories Karl regaled were indicative of the antics of the age group. You can imagine what it was like in the 1930s riding with courageous young men, dressed dapperly in riding boots, riding pants, and ties, full of confidence. There are stories of women distracting the young drivers from their important work and, therefore, discouraged from riding in the front.

Jammers like to ease the tension of some of the passengers as they view the steep drop-offs on the winding roads. Jammer Karl passed this one on to us as we approached a particularly steep incline. “If this makes you nervous, do what I do while I’m driving. Just close your eyes. I do! And it helps!”

Going To The Sun Road Has Steep Drop-Offs

Jammers Have An Important Job

Today the drivers range in age and experience. They all participate in on-going training, and during the season they live in a campus-like environment sharing rooms and camaraderie. Overall the drivers are ambassadors of the park service.

Jammers drive an average of 60,000 tourists through the park in one of the oldest touring fleet of vehicles in the world. They’ve also used the historic vehicles for evacuations during times of fire or flooding. Drivers remind guests to look out for the wildlife in the area and watch for moving black dots in the terrain.

Black Bear seen from an overlook on the Red Bus Tour

Our driver embodied the spirit of someone who loves his job, although the hours are long, and the national park service does not boast high pay rates. Jammer Karl has been driving in the Red Bus Tour’s fleet for seven years, after careers in business, ministry, and acting in theatre groups. During the offseason, he enjoys camping, hiking, and biking in the outdoorsman’s paradise. Karl is also an avid traveler of the world.

Glacier National Park Lodging

The National Park Service website lists six lodges, cabins, and motels inside or just outside the park. All offer an ambiance of the history of the American West. There are majestic Swiss-style buildings with unique log designs and small log cabins, many built in the early 1900s. Several are on the National Register of Historic Places.

Lake McDonald Lodge and Cabins

Lake McDonald Lodge in Glacier National Park shows exposed log beams

The park lodge, Lake McDonald Lodge , overlooks the largest lake in the western part of the park. The original exterior of 1913 boasts the construction of large wooden beams, indicating a hearty survival of weather over the years.

The lobby area of Lake McDonald Lodge looks like a hunting lodge of huge proportions. Local wildlife trophies, western artwork, a wood-burning fireplace, and rocking chairs make it feel both rugged and comforting.

A Moose Trophy in Lake McDonald Lodge

Rooms at Lake McDonald Lodge in the historic main building are on the second and third floors. In keeping with the era in which the lodge was built, air conditioning and elevators are not available. A warm and inviting restaurant and lounge serve guests delicious meals with local specialties of elk and bison.

Lake McDonald Cabins are rustic and charming

Other National Park Service accommodations at Lake McDonald include cabins with one or two beds and private bathrooms. The Cobb House has three suites. Snyder Hall has eight hostel-style or dormitory-like amenities with a shared bathroom.

Apgar Village Lodge and Cabins

Other management companies (besides the official NPS) offer lodging within Glacier National Park. We had a great experience booking through Pursuit-The Glacier National Park Collection in Apgar Village. We stayed in a two-room cabin in Apgar Village Lodge and Cabins, with a full kitchen, and a separate bedroom and bathroom.

The log cabins of Apgar Village Lodge

Apgar Village is like a small town with a restaurant, some shopping, and is a Red Bus Tours Pickup location.

Apgar Village Sidewalks are a good place for strolling and riding scooters

The NPS lodging in this area is the Village Inn at Apgar . It offers some one-bedroom units with full kitchens and other one-bedroom and two-bedroom units that can accommodate six people.

Be sure and make your lodging reservations within and just outside Glacier National Park as early as possible. Most places book at least a year in advance. But you can always check with the NPS and booking companies for cancellations. We were lucky to stay in the park by checking a few months prior to our trip.

Rainbow on Lake McDonald bring photographers to the shore

Glacier National Park is a dream location for outdoor enthusiasts, photographers, and anyone who enjoys nature. The scenery is incredible, the fresh air is clear and pristine, and the smells of Spruce and Fir trees smell like Christmas. You will love visiting the national parks of the U.S., and Glacier is an unforgettable experience.

Drive Along The Going-To-The-Sun-Road

For travelers wondering how to spend one day in Glacier National Park, perhaps trying one of the most scenic drives in the US is the ideal answer.

The Going-to-the-Sun Road is easily one of the most beautiful roads in America; this remarkable 50-mile road crosses the heart of Glacier National Park and reaches heights over 6,646 feet , providing breathtaking views of glacial valleys and imposing mountain peaks.

The road is usually only open from late June until mid-September due to heavy snowfall in the winter and spring months.

  • Entrance fee : $20-35

The road is subject to delays and closures due to rockfall or avalanche dangers.

Enjoy Some Of The Best Views In Glacier National Park From Logan Pass

Situated at 6,646 feet , Logan Pass is the highest elevation point accessible by vehicle on the Going-to-the-Sun Road. There is hiking available to see the stunning trails branching off from Logan Pass and hikers can take in the awe-inspiring mountain scenery.

Hikers can also discover cutthroat trout in Hidden Lake and mountain goats along the bordering hiking paths.

  • Operational: July through late October.

Bears and similar wildlife are around, so it is important to be alert.

Enjoy Water Activities On Two Medicine Lake

On the remote eastern edge of Glacier National Park, Two Medicine offers tranquil scenery and opportunities for adventures away from crowds. Visitors can also camp at Two Medine Lake Campground.

Some of the most scenic hikes in Glacier National Park are found here, such as the Cobalt Lake Trail . Plus, canoeing is open on the calm waters of Two Medicine Lake.

  • Two Medicine Campground Cost: $10 nightly camping fee .

The area is about an hour's drive from Many Glacier or Saint Mary. Also, campers must keep an eye out for wildlife like bears, bighorn sheep, and moose.

Explore Scenic Drives On North Shore Road And Try Boating At Lake McDonald Valley

Lake McDonald Valley on Glacier's western boundary showcases the park's spectacular beauty.

The scenic North Shore Road gives the opportunity to photograph the Bowman Lake overlook. Hikers meet 13 miles of trail on the relatively flat Poia Lake Trail and have the choice to row a boat on the largest lake in Glacier National Park, Lake McDonald.

  • Motorboat Rentals: Starts at $34.20 per hour

Take A Glacier Red Bus Tour

The iconic red buses of Glacier National Park offer a fun and convenient way to explore the park's highlights without a car. Buses run the entire length of the 50-mile Going-to-the-Sun Road with multiple stops for scenic views and short hiking opportunities.

Driving to Glacier National Park allows visitors to see these magnificent buses and experience the park in a truly unique way. Expert narrators share the area's natural and human history.

  • Tickets for the all-day Red Bus Tour: $114 for adults and $57 for children
  • Tour Availability: June to September.

Hike To Grinnell Glacier

The receding Grinnell Glacier located high in the park is a stark reminder of the effects of climate change. A challenging 7.6-mile round-trip hike climbs over 1,800 feet to view the glacier up close.

Incredible hikes in Glacier National Park , like the Grinnell Glacier Trail , offer stunning views of the park's alpine zone, which takes on a different feel above the treeline.

  • Permit: Overnight backcountry camping requires a free permit

Be prepared for snow year-round and carry traction devices in the early season due to slippery conditions.

Visit Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park

Among the more unique things to do in one day in Glacier National Park is to see two countries - yes, in a single day! Together with Canada's Waterton Lakes National Park , these adjoining parks were established in 1932 as the world's first International Peace Park to symbolize peaceful relations between two countries (Canada and the USA).

A free shuttle connects the border towns of East Glacier and Waterton Village daily during the summer months.

  • Operations: Open May to September.

Present both U.S. and Canadian identification for the border crossing into either country. Also, activities like canoeing on Lower Waterton Lake are excellent ways to experience the joint management of both national treasures.

At the eastern foot of the park's inner mountains along the St. Mary River, St. Mary offers an escape from summer crowds, and visiting is among the best things to do in Glacier National Park for those seeking its quieter areas.

Hikers can explore exhibits at the St. Mary Visitors Center , spot bighorn sheep from Going-to-the-Sun Road, or fish the swift glacial river known for its cutthroat trout. Other things to do in St. Mary include biking, camping, boating, fishing, and ranger-led programs.

  • Room Rates: $149 per night.

Overnight backpacking in this remote area requires a permit and Leave No Trace principles.

Take A Tour Of Flathead Lake With The Glacier Park Boat Company

Another one of the best things to do in Glacier National Park in a day is to tour one of the park's most stunning lakes. The historic Glacier Park Boat Company operates the largest private fleet of boats on Flathead Lake , which forms part of the park's western boundary.

Breathtaking views are available on a scenic boat tour of the lake, with alpine areas only accessible by water. Narrated trips pass by mountain goats, freshwater seals, and glacial remnants.

  • Tour prices: $12.70 for children 4-12, and $25.40 for adults and youths 13+.

Multiple daily departures run from mid-May through mid-September, subject to weather conditions.

Spot Wildlife While Hiking At Hidden Lake

Hike 5.4 mostly flat miles through a flower-carpeted forest to marvel at brilliant aquamarine Hidden Lake , one of the most beautiful lakes in Glacier National Park.

Hikers will find Harlequin ducks along the shoreline, contrasting against surrounding mountain peaks reflected on the still water.

  • Trail Location: Logan Pass Visitor Center
  • Difficult: Moderate

Both the hike itself and the trailhead parking lot tend to be very busy during the summer months. Restrooms and food/drinks are not available at the trailhead or nearby, so plan accordingly.

  • DebbJ 0 contributions 4.0 of 5 bubbles Great way to get oriented to Moscow We started our Moscow experience with the hop on hop off. It was a great way to get orientated to the city. The additional optional tours were also good, we did the Metro tour which I highly recommend, we also paid for the Kremlin tour. The hop on hop off has three different lines all included. Only fault was the bus was sometimes full and you had to wait for the next one which was about 15 minutes (in the cold). Read more Written January 6, 2020

  • BeverleyT 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Boat trip - TERRIBLE We got on the bus, but couldn’t buy a 1 day ticket. They suggested we do the 1 hour boat trip and said they would drop us to the dock. 1) they dropped us in the wrong place 2) they were lost because of the marathon Then the boat, after we finally found it: 1) stinking fumes, actually gagging 2) no commentary, in fact, no interaction unless you begged 3) offered us 2 for 1 icecreams as they had melted and refrozen as the fridge gets turned off at night Honestly, we enjoyed the afternoon in the boat but spent all of it laughing at just how awful it was!!! The worst thing in Moscow! Read more Written August 18, 2019
  • niruDurbs 0 contributions 3.0 of 5 bubbles Not the best value for the price The ticket is quite expensive and covers three different routes in a 24 hour period. The red route is quite exciting and takes about an hour. The bus comes every 10 to 15 minutes. However the other two routes take about two hours each and buses come every 30 to 40 minute period. If the bus is full then you have to wait at the stop for the next bus. So personally I feel that not much can be seen this way. I definitely was not impressed. However it must be noted that one can learn a lot about the history of Moscow Read more Written July 3, 2019
  • IrishCueTravel 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles SLO Motion Not all their fault , but if you plan on trying this Attraction be patient! Traffic is a big problem first and foremost. But to add additional unnecessary delays; the bus stops at each site for 15 minutes at a time or More ! I gave up half way through ( 45 minutes) ; and walked back to the starting point in 10 minutes! • michael g 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Worst hop on/hop off EVER Waited for 40 minutes in the cold rain for a bus that never came... unacceptable. Traffic is so bad that when on a bus the previos day it was barely moving. My advice-get a subway pass and a good travel guide book and do sightseeing on your own! Read more Written October 24, 2018
  • Rebecca J 0 contributions 3.0 of 5 bubbles Boat element was excellent We purchased a ticket online for the boat and bus for 2 days. The boat element was wonderful, we saw some amazing parts of Moscow along the river side. The bus element was very disappointing as it only started at 10am and was finished by 6:30pm. It was extremely warm when we were there and it would have been great to do the tour in the cool of the day. There was also no air conditioning in the down stairs part of the bus. They also turned away passengers at one of the stops as the bus was full and there was not another bus for 40 minutes. Read more Written September 26, 2018
  • Monismith2014 0 contributions 4.0 of 5 bubbles it was very enjoyable it was very interesting seeing things we saw walking around from the bus. so much more to see. we had a lot better view of the attractions from the height of the bus.also the bus was reasonable slow which gave us time enough for photos. it stopped at sparrow hill for 10 minutes for picture taking Read more Written September 20, 2018
  • fati666222 0 contributions 4.0 of 5 bubbles The best way to see Moscow We did both routes but if you have little time then only do the red route. Its very informative and it takes you to the important sights. The staff on the bus are very friendly and helpful. Read more Written August 20, 2018

  • Peter F 0 contributions 3.0 of 5 bubbles Two Routes There is a short red route which depending on the traffic takes about an hour. The route is generally around the Red Square area. The ear phones were small and sometimes the commentary did not link up with the sites you were seeing. The green bus takes you on a longer route and ours took two and a half hours due to the heavy traffic. I would not recommend this trip unless it is raining or you want to fill in time. The sights we saw were nothing outstanding with plenty of time at certain stops for photos. Also the driver stop for a bite to eat at one stop. Read more Written July 30, 2018
  • Bernardo P 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Boat Trips Moscow, Russia Yesterday, I booked a boat trip with the GetYourGuide.com web page and was totally horrible, didn’t have audio guide as it shows on the picture-Nobody Talk-. The girl on the picture-light blue bag-ask for 100 Rubles for show her the QR Code while I had the Booking and PIN number cause she must see the vessel name-Didn’t say nothing and after she said board any vessel. I suggest take the trip and pay on site, avoid fake internet pages, there are many other services with a lot of entertainment, don’t take this ones. Read more Written July 14, 2018
  • Kathrynowl91 0 contributions 3.0 of 5 bubbles Good way to see some sites We usually do these tours when we travel. They get you round and you see the sight . The traffic is quite heavy so it is a bit slow but there is not a lot they can do about it. We only did the red route. Just a note people don’t queue here when the bus comes it’s a bit of a free for all. Read more Written July 13, 2018
  • Daniyal91 0 contributions 3.0 of 5 bubbles Was Ok.! Started our tour of moscow from here, We had got the 2 Day Pass with the boat ride. The route and the map was good but not well managed. The bus didn't stop at many points. Were were unaware a couple of times at what point we were and missed them. Headphones and maps were provided. Would recommend one should check out the route map before going and decide which places to stop in advance, this way one can manage and enjoy the tour more and us it more effectively.! The boat ride was Ok, a little crowded. No guide provided, just a boat ride with restaurant service Read more Written July 12, 2018
  • WilliamDyer 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Poor service on boat and too many waiting times on buses For the price, you should expect at minimum English speaking tour guides with decent experience, but at least in my case that did not happen both in buses and boats. And in the boat even tough we were 90% English speaking tourist at least, the tour guide spoke 95% of the time in Russia, and only 3 sentences in English, I really counted how many times she spoke in English. And at the end she asks us if we have any questions? Of course I told her I couldn’t ask her anything since I didn’t understand 95% of what she was saying. The boat tour is not worth it, just take the bus that would be my advice. Second minus is the waiting times, in the boat they made us wait an hour before it departed, and in many stops with the buses waiting times of 20-30 minutes. I actually think I lost that day around 2 hours doing nothing. Be careful. Read more Written July 10, 2018
