The River Cauvery is hardly what one would call tame. Its course includes gorges, waterfalls, rapids, dense forests and much more. The Bheemeshwari Adventure and Nature Camp is a paean to this majestic river. A wonderful mix of delightful nature and wild adventure, this camp is close enough for easy access and far enough to cut yourself off from the everyday humdrum.

Whether it’s action-packed adventure or just a chance to get closer to nature, Bheemeshwari Nature and Adventure Camp is just the place for it. A range of adventurous activities from zip line, rope walking, kayaking, etc. are worth trying. Wildlife that can be spotted in these parts includes elephants, deer, crocodiles, turtles, snakes and about two hundred bird species. But the chief crowd puller is the Mahseer – the largest tropical gamefish known to man. Though you can’t try catch one here anymore, this elusive monster still exercises a lot of clout in these parts.

The best time to visit is just after the monsoons, between August and February, when the river is alive and the forest is thick and verdant. This is the best time for birdwatching as well – river terns, fishing eagles, wood peckers, kingfishers and other water birds flock here. During the other months, the water recedes and reveals wide sand banks, which are great for idling away the evening. The summer months (March – June) can be very warm, especially in the afternoon.

What can nurture and please you at the same time? How can one simple experience in the wilderness be both exhilarating and soothing? These emotions sum up the way I felt on one of my recent weekend getaways to a rocky water-land: Bheemeshwari. The sweltering heat, the dusty roads and the no–network zone didn’t deter us from exploring this vast scape that lies on the banks of the river Cauvery. A 90 km drive from Bangalore via the Kanakapura road towards Malavalli, a sharp left at Halaguru, and a few kms from there will land you at Bheemeshwari. This was not my very first trip to Bheemeshwari

But with the call of the wild getting louder day by day, we decided to head towards a place that can give firsthand experience of the wild to our toddler, although the summer was getting harsh. You just can’t help loving the scenic green expanse of Bheemeshwari. To add to the beauty, the area is flush with over 200 species of birds and a host of wild animals such as jackals, spotted deer, elephants and leopards. Oh, and did we mention the elusive grizzled giant squirrel?

If you have never tried fishing, this is the time to try it out. Bheemeshwari is famous for its mahseer fish that can weigh over 100 lb. Our local experts will be more than happy to guide you through the hidden natural wonders of Bheemeshwari during your stay.

Activities: It’s a Chain of Endless Activities at Bheemeshwari Adventure and Nature Camp

If there is one thing that can never touch you at Bheemeshwari, it is a sense of boredom. There are activities for everyone here, especially if adventure is your thing.

The raging Cauvery beckons you: If the roar of gushing water excites you, visit Bheemeshwari between min-June and October for a heart-pumping river boating experience. If you are looking for a more subtle adventure, you can always opt for the spinning coracle in calmer waters of the river anytime of the year. If you are glad stepping on the sidelines, just take a dip in the shallow waters and enjoy the calming effect that the river has on you.

Let the open sky be your blanket in Basava Betta: Test your stamina with a six-hour trek to this hill. The panoramic view of mother Cauvery awaits you atop. If you are hard pressed for time, we can take you on shorter treks too. You get to spend a night camping under the starry skies. Enjoy the barbeque at the river bank and bond with your loved ones in the twilight of the evening. The activity could also be a great corporate team-building activity.

Traverse the wobbly rope bridge: The Inca Walk (Burma loops) is a rope bridge that is a far cry from our modern bridges, the very fact that makes it so exciting. You’ll find yourself giggling like a child as you try hard to gain your balance with every step. It is believed that the ancient Incas used such bridges.

The wobblier Mad Monkey Crawl: We are speaking of a para r-parallel walk here. Never heard of it? Bridges don’t get simpler than walking on two ropes with just a little support to hold on. Don’t worry! We take all the safety precautions. Just don’t expect it to be as smooth as the escalator ride in your favourite mall.

Glide like a commando on the zip-line: We call it the ‘Commando Drop.’ It will be your day to be a commando as you descend down the zip-line, a chance that city dwellers seldom get. Just imagine doing it like a pro over 40 feet from the ground. And no, we won’t mind if you sport the commando camouflage during your adventure.

Test your grit with mountain biking: Well it’s not as hard as Tour de France but definitely nerve-racking. Traversing through the hairpin bends with minimum visibility as you tear through the fog can be quite a rush. This will surely be a bicycle ride you’ll remember lifelong.

Experience pure fear with kayaking: Consider yourself fearless? Wait! Try kayaking at Bheemeshwari Adventure and Nature Camp before answering that question. To get an idea, just imagine going down a steep rocky slope in your car without brakes. Only here, you would be riding the rapids of River Cauvery – under our guidance of course. No adventure ride can compare to this unique adrenaline-pumping experience.

Season: The Weather will Always be on your Side in Bheemeshwari

Every season brings along a different experience in Bheemeshwari. Visiting between June and August allows you to witness the greenery of Bheemeshwari in its full glory. During the rest of the year, the river mellows down, exposing its huge sand banks, making it an ideal destination for laidback evenings. Exotic birds such as kingfishers and fishing eagles welcome you in the months between March and June. So, if you are a birdwatcher, you know when to visit Bheemeshwari Adventure and Nature Camp.

Bheemeshwari is located 100km away from the tech city of Bangalore, off the Kanakapura-Kollegal Highway. About 15km past the town of Kanakapura, you have to turn left at Sathnur and take the Muttathi Road. After 5-km drive from Muttathi, you will reach Bheemeshwari Adventure & Nature Camp. Bheemeshwari is about 100 km from Bangalore, down the Kanakpura - Kollegal Highway. Turn off at Halagur, and go down the Halagur - Muttatti road. On the way you will come across JLR's Bheemeshwari Camp. This place is a retreat for those who want to enjoy calm environs with a dash of adventure.

The most famous trek route out of all the others is the one to Doddamakali which takes you seven kilometers beyond the location.

Famous for the natural breeding spot for the rare Mahseer fish, several fish lovers from across the globe come in search of the rare fish. Just sixteen kilometers away is the Galibore 'pick and release' camp where you may experience fishing and then pertaining to the eco-tourism tag of the site release it back in the water. Apart from all these, several kinds of boating on Kaveri waters and nature walks can be enjoyed here as well.

My Experience At Bheemeshwari Nature Camp

Bheemeshwari Advanture Nature Camp is a magnificent place for nature lovers. Tucked away in the beautiful jungles in Karnataka , it is an absolute paradise for adventurers . Bheemeshwari - A Must Visit Jungle Resort From Bangalore

Bheemeshwari Adventure and Nature Camp

Are you from Bangalore? Do you want to spend one day in a jungle? Do you want to spend less time driving and spend more time at the destination? Do you want to stay in a place far away from city noise? I would say you must try for a trip to Bheemeshwari Adventure and Nature Camp.

We have visited Bheemeshwari Adventure and Nature Camp on a weekend trip and it was an awesome experience and we have enjoyed the trip a lot.

We started from Whitefield, Bangalore at 9 am. We took the route Varthur Road -> Electronic City Flyover -> Nice Road -> Kanakapura Road -> Bheemeshwari. The road was in very good condition and you can surely enjoy the driving specially while entering Bheemeshwari. We reached the resort at 12.45 noon.

We have booked the cottage which is near to the resort entrance and in front of Cauvery River. It was a nice clean room with one Double and one single bed. We kept our luggage and went for lunch in their Golghar.

Food tasted homely. Once we finished the lunch we went to Adventure zone. They have Zip line,Burma loops,parallel walk,cat walk, elephant foot walk etc, however we did not go for that and spend time there for some time. Then we went near the Cauvery river. The view was awesome. The package includes coracle rides. They took the guests for coracle rides and you can see crocodiles swimming in the river. We spent a good time river side till sunset and then went back to the room.

In the evening they have arranged bonfire and snacks. It was a great experience to have this bonfire in the middle of a jungle. After that we went for dinner and went back to room post that. With different sounds from insects, birds and some animals it totally made a different atmosphere from the one we live in daily

Next day morning it was a trekking time. They were taking us to the top of a nearby hill where there is a watch tower. I was a bit worried as it was my 6 year son's first trek, but surprisingly he and I were the first ones to reach the watching tower. It was a very cloudy day so unfortunately we couldn't enjoy the view much but the trekking, watching deer, and peacock was something very special.

After we came back to the resort we freshed up, had breakfast, took some more photos and checked out around 11am.
