EA Sports FC 24: All the latest news on EA’s first post-FIFA soccer title

After almost 30 years and dozens of video games, 2024 will be the first year that EA releases its annual soccer game without any FIFA branding. Instead, this year’s game will be called EA Sports FC 24 , after the video game developer announced in mid-2022 that it would be parting ways with the international governing body .

EA is premiering a full gameplay trailer for EA Sports FC 24 , following an earlier brief teaser . “30 years of packing the stands and putting you on the pitch, but it’s time to get closer,” was Daniel Kaluuya’s pitch for the game in the teaser’s dramatic voiceover, without revealing any specific gameplay additions.

While EA moves away from the FIFA branding, the international football governing body is continuing to license out its name and launched a mobile game called AI League in April . FIFA has struck a defiant tone about the end of its partnership with EA. “I can assure you that the only authentic, real game that has the FIFA name will be the best one available for gamers and football fans,” said FIFA president Gianni Infantino .

EA Sports FC 24 isn’t a huge change — but EA hopes it’s the start of something bigger

EA Sports FC 24 — or FC24 , for short — is a huge release for Electronic Arts, launching today on PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Switch. But you wouldn’t necessarily know its importance from playing the new game. FC24 is the first title since the publisher’s split from FIFA , the sport’s global governing body, a chance for EA to break out on its own with one of the most popular franchises in gaming. But the game also feels like well, FIFA . Instead of a whole new franchise, it plays a lot like the one that came before it, with the kinds of updates and additions that are typical of an annualized sports game. It’s not a jarring change if you’ve spent a lot of time with FIFA 23 .

This is not to say that FC24 is a bad game. I’ve mostly been enjoying my time with it. It looks better, particularly when it comes to animations, with new tech called HyperMotion V that uses real-world data so that players move like they do in the real world. It’s especially notable for big-name players who now look ripped out of a TV broadcast, with distinctive movements so that you can pick out Lionel Messi from afar.

it’s still pretty big. EA’s messy split from FIFA means that the word’s biggest soccer tournament won’t be part of EA Sports FC . But next summer the game will at least be getting a free update for Euro 2024, which might be the next best thing.

EA has delisted all prior FIFA games from major storefronts, including Epic Games, Steam, Switch, Xbox, and PS5. The titles, up to and including FIFA 23 , are no longer available for purchase. The move, which was first spotted by analyst MauroNL , comes just two days before the upcoming EA Sports FC 24 is set to release.

The content is not totally lost: FIFA 23 is still technically available to EA Play subscribers through its collection of legacy titles known as “The Play List.” Some DLC packs are also still available for purchase, per Kotaku ’s reporting .

EA’s foray into its post-FIFA future starts very soon. During a livestreamed event, the publisher announced today that its new soccer franchise, EA Sports FC , will debut in early access on September 22nd before a wider launch on September 29th. It’ll be available on the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X / S, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch. You can get a first look at the new title — officially known as EA Sports FC 24, or FC24 for short — in the first gameplay trailer above.

The event opened with a lengthy monologue from EA CEO Andrew Wilson, in which he explained his long history with the sport, including his work at EA Sports, and managed to not say the word FIFA once. “We’re going to take another giant leap forward,” Wilson said of the new title. The ultimate goal, he said, was to connect 1 billion fans through the franchise.

Usually the reveal of an annualized sports game isn’t such a big deal, but that’s not the case here — after a long partnership with FIFA, EA is launching a brand-new soccer franchise called EA Sports FC this year. You can check out the unveiling in the stream below, which kicks off at 12:35PM ET.

It definitely wants to make sure you don’t forget about its non-FIFA game EA Sports FC coming this year. We knew that EA had acquired naming rights for Spain’s LaLiga , and now we can see what that actually looks like as part of the league’s visual rebranding .

It will officially be known as LaLiga EA Sports, while the second division will hilariously be called LaLiga Hypermotion, named after in-game animation tech. Of course, no one will call them that — but it’ll be hard to avoid while watching matches.

FIFA’s post-EA future starts with this AI-powered mobile game

Now that EA and FIFA have officially separated, we’re getting details about both of their soccer video game futures. EA has its upcoming simulation EA Sports FC , while FIFA just launched a mobile game called AI League . It’s available now on Android in open beta (an iOS version is listed as “coming soon”).

Developed by game studio Altered State Machine, AI League is described as a “4-on-4 casual football game, played between AI-controlled characters, with player input at fun and tactical moments. Players act as the coach and owner of their AI teams, with each AI footballer given unique AI traits that define their strengths and weaknesses. Players are able to collect and trade characters to create a team with their favorite talent combinations.”

EA is already announcing deals for its post-FIFA future

FIFA 23 isn’t even out yet, but Electronic Arts is already preparing for its post-FIFA future. Today, the publisher announced a new deal with Spain’s LaLiga — which is home to iconic clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona — for a “one of a kind, multi-year partnership” that kicks off with the 2023–2024 season and will make EA the title sponsor for the league. That also happens to be the season in which EA will be ditching its longtime partner FIFA for a new soccer franchise called EA Sports FC , making FIFA 23 the last EA game with FIFA branding.

EA is officially dropping the FIFA branding for its hit soccer video games starting with next year’s release, the company announced Tuesday. The new title for the games will be EA Sports FC .

Despite the name change, it sounds as if much of the DNA of the FIFA games will remain the same. “Everything you love about our games will be part of EA Sports FC — the same great experiences, modes, leagues, tournaments, clubs and athletes will be there,” EA’s Cam Weber said in a blog post . “Ultimate Team, Career Mode, Pro Clubs and Volta Football will all be there. Our unique licensing portfolio of more than 19,000+ players, 700+ teams, 100+ stadiums and 30 leagues that we’ve continued to invest in for decades will still be there, uniquely in EA Sports FC . That includes exclusive partnerships with the Premier League, LaLiga, Bundesliga, Serie A, the MLS — and more to come.”

EA CEO explains why company may ditch FIFA branding in leaked staff comments

In newly-leaked comments, EA CEO Andrew Wilson has explained why the company is considering ending its licensing deal with FIFA. The comments come after EA publicly announced in October it was reviewing its agreement with FIFA, and considering renaming the title of its popular soccer franchise. The comments, which are the CEO’s most candid remarks yet, were made in a company meeting last November and made public in a report from VGC this week.

Wilson suggested that EA feels its FIFA branding deal is unnecessarily restrictive, while not providing enough value to the company. “Basically, what we get from FIFA in a non-World Cup year is the four letters on the front of the box,” Wilson said. Although its FIFA deal gets EA access to the World Cup every four years, the company also has over 300 other licensing agreements which allow it to use the names and likenesses of players, teams, and leagues without needing a deal with FIFA.

What’s new? EA FC 24 Career mode explained

EA FC 24 is technically a new IP, but as a direct successor to FIFA , it will have much of the same content. This includes the game modes we’ve grown accustomed to over the years, like Career mode.

Career mode has been officially confirmed to make a return for the first entry in the EA Sports FC series, alongside some details on what you can do in it. This post- FIFA era could bring in new Career mode enthusiasts, so here are the basics of what this mode is, how it’s played, and what’s new in EA FC 24 .

What is Career mode?

Career mode is different from other chief game modes in modern FIFA titles by virtue of being an offline, single-player experience. In Career mode, you can go on a journey lasting many seasons, trying to build your own name and win as many individual and collective achievements as you can before retirement.

There are two ways you can play Career mode—as a player or as a manager. In Player Career mode, you only take control and are responsible for a single player. In Manager Career mode, you take control of a manager and are responsible for the whole team’s performance. You can opt to create your own character or take an existing player or manager on a career journey in both game modes.

Does EA FC 24 have Career mode?

Yes, EA revealed that EA FC 24 will have Career mode upon launch. Furthermore, the publisher will introduce several new features to both Player and Manager Career modes.

Agents will play a huge role in your career as a player, guiding you on your way and giving you tasks that will bring you closer to your goals, be it excelling at your current club or getting a transfer to your favorite team. The newly introduced PlayStyles are also being marketed as an active feature in EA FC 24 Player Career mode, serving as a foundation for a Personality system, though we still don’t know how all of that will work exactly.

Manager Career mode also gets some love. The tactical system will receive a small boost in the form of some preset strategies based on popular real-life setups, like gegenpressing and tiki-taka. Coaches will also play a bigger role in your team’s tactical makeup. There will be an open coaching market where you can pick the right personnel for your club’s needs.

Finally, EA FC 24 will introduce 3D spectating while simulating a Career mode match. In FIFA , simulations were run through a 2D graphic, but now you can actually see how your team’s doing without the need of your imagination.

We’re still early in EA FC 24 ’s promotion cycle and quite far away from its release , so more details on Career mode are bound to arise in the coming weeks. This very early preview leaves us cautiously optimistic as EA seems to be implementing some crucial features to make the Career mode experience feel more realistic and entertaining.

Which leagues and competitions are in FC 24? As the FIFA brand gets the axe, EA FC is the shiny new replacement we are all eager to get our hands on. While you’ll likely be getting more of the same gameplay elements, there are changes afoot, including to the FC 24 leagues and competitions.

Here we’ll go over all the confirmed that will be in the game when the  FC 24 release date  arrives. Whether it’s making a multi-league hybrid team in  Ultimate Team , or managing a team to become the champion of their division in Career Mode, it’s good to know if there are any competitions being added or leaving FC 24 in comparison to FIFA 23.

All confirmed EA FC 24 leagues

There are 47 confirmed FC 24 leagues and competitions, across both the men and women’s game – 41 for men, six for women. These include some you’ve come to know and love, but also some brand new additions that have not been seen in FIFA games of old.

For visual clarity, we’ve split these out into men’s and women’s competitions, and separated them by continent or country, to remove any confusion with similar names.

We also expect EA Sports to feature other notable clubs from smaller competitions as part of its Rest of the World offering. The likes of Shakhtar Donetsk (Ukraine Premier League), AEK Athens (Super League Greece), and Sparta Praha (Czech First League) are all expected to carry over from FIFA 23 to FC 24, but this is yet to be officially confirmed.

As you can see, the lineup of FC 24 leagues is very similar to what we’re used to, but there are three brand new leagues to look out for. In the men’s leagues, there’s the K League 2, which debuts in FC 24 to give fans in South Korea two divisions to play through, alongside the existing K League. Then there are two new women’s leagues as EA Sports looks to expand its offering – both La Liga F and Google Pixel Frauen-Bundesliga bring the top women’s leagues from Spain and Germany into FC 24.

What this means is that you’ll have more players than ever to choose from both in regular game modes as well as Ultimate Team. EA Sports has actually disclosed that you will have over 19,000 players to take control of,  which is an absolutely huge number, spoiling you for choice.

The impressive numbers don’t stop there though. In combination with that player number, there will be over 700 licensed clubs in EA FC as well as 100+ stadiums to play in, all contributing to the promise of authenticity and growth the developers are going for this time around.

EA FC exclusive leagues and competitions

EA Sports is also stating that it owns exclusive rights to various leagues and competitions listed above, meaning that any potential competitors in the soccer gaming space will not be able to use them in their titles or can’t offer the fully-licensed experience that EA FC can. These include the men’s UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, UEFA Europa Conference League, CONMEBOL Libertadores, Premier League, Bundesliga, and La Liga EA SPORTS. Additionally, the set of women’s leagues and competitions include the EA FC-exclusive Barclays FA Women’s Super League, the D1 Arkema, the National Women’s Soccer League, the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

This is a big win for the new franchise and one that is certainly going to be putting fan’s minds at ease since there was always a worry that with the departure of the FIFA name, the licensed leagues and competitions were at risk. Moreover, with the fact that EA Sports has continued to secure exclusivity for the likes of the UEFA Champions League is also encouraging.

What’s more, with EA Sports being the lead sponsor for Spain’s La Liga, we could see a partnership in EA FC that has not been truly explored before. This may mean special player cards in Ultimate Team and even more refined graphics of both players and stadiums. What EA has confirmed though is that you will be able to experience “an immersive broadcast package that delivers 360° of LALIGA atmosphere in every match” suggesting that extra care and attention has gone into the audio from games conducted in the league. This likely indicates chants, stadium echo, and more will feel that bit more real.

All in all, there’s absolutely no need to worry about the transition from the FIFA brand to EA FC when it comes to licensed leagues and competitions. With the extremely impressive number of leagues, competitions, players, clubs, and stadiums on offer, you certainly won’t be short of variety in this game. Also, with the expansion and inclusion of more women’s leagues, it’s fantastic to see that side of the soccer game getting some love. We can only hope that it brings more awareness and subsequent fans to the teams and players, adding to the huge growth we’ve seen in recent times.

Our roster features players with ratings as high as 86 OVR this season. The introduction of female players to the Ultimate Team has significantly increased the number of players with ratings of 85 OVR this year.

The number after the OVR is the difference between the FIFA 23 overall ratings and the new overall ratings. For women, we compared in-game ratings instead of Ultimate Team ratings.

One of the most anticipated FIFA Mobile events, Icon Journey, is finally live in EA Sports FC Mobile. The previous year, EA Sports was giving Casillas and Fernando Torres, but this year's rewards are much better.

So, without further ado, read this guide. You'll find out everything you should know about Icon Journey in EA Sports FC Mobile, including the rewards, activities, and tips and tricks that can make completing Icon Journey a piece of cake.

EA FC Mobile: How To Complete Icon Journey

This year, EA Sports significantly changed the rules of Icon Journey in EA FC Mobile. Now, you shouldn't meet requirements like the previous year. Still, don't get happy, as it still doesn't mean that Icon Journey became easier.

In EA Sports FC Mobile 24, Icon Journey has three levels: Elite, Master, and Legendary . To progress, phould collect special Icon Journey Tokens, which can be used to unlock new chapters. For example, chapter Master costs 300 Icon Journey Tokens.

EA FC Mobile: How To Get Icon Journey Tokens

The best wayt to get Icon Journey Tokens is to complete Skill Games and Matches avaiable in the Event menu. Players can get from 5 to 10 Icon Journey Tokens for a singly Match or Skill Game, which makes clear that collecting 300 Tokens is a complex process. You need at least 15 days to get them and move to the Master chapter.

In addition to completing matches, players can collect 5 Icon Journey Tokens for free in Daily Rewards. This seems to be a minor amount, but it can greatly improve your in-game experience.

EA FC Mobile: Icon Journey Tips & Tricks

If you want to get free Zinedine Zidane as fast as possible, here are some tips & tricks that can make completing Icon Journey a bit easier.

Don't Forget Daily Challenges

As Daily Challenges are the only way to get Icon Journey Tokens, try your best not to miss even a single challenge. You can even create notification on your smarthpone reminding you to claim the daily Tokens.

Use Auto-Match

To complete the first matches in FC Mobile Icon Journey, use an auto-match option. This can save you up to 20 minutes on finishing the first challenges. Still, auto-match doesn't work for Skill Games.

Don't Be Afraid To Lose

Unlike challenges, there are no restrictions on losing matches in FC Mobile Icon Journey. So, if you're struggling to win a match, don't be afraid to lose and try again.

EA FC Mobile: Icon Journey Rewards

The main reward from the Icon Journey is 92-rated Zinedine Zidane. You can unlock him by completing the Icon Journey on Legendary difficulty. Although you cannot sell this card on the market, Zidane is a great addition to any FUT squad, unless you have his 94-rated card, which is considered one of the best midfielders in FC Mobile.

EA Sports FC Mobile 24: Icon Journeys (Zidane) is here! Play through the career of one of football’s best-ever players and earn different versions of Icon Zinedine Zidane.

Exchange (92 ovr cam zidane), math & calculation, hall of fame, elite chapter.

Zidane debuted in Ligue 1 in 1989, where he showed great flair. Two goals in his first national match also signaled his rising on the international stage.

Collect 300 Icon Journey Tokens to unlock the next chapter (Master).

Master Chapter

After joining Juventus, Zidane was the key player for winning 2 league titles. In 1998, Zidane hit his prime with a World Cup title and Ballon d’Or.

Collect 1,300 Icon Journey Tokens to unlock the next chapter (Legendary).

Legendary Chapter

Zidane joined Real Madrid in 2001 for a record fee. As a Real Madrid legend, his volley in the 2002 Champions League final is forever remembered.

How does ranking work with this Zidane? I got an extra zidane 82 in the quest package, should i rank him up before conversion? also should i use tokens on this zidane while he’s below 89?

I have completed all of the challenges for the Nation to get Puyol. When i click on the exchange icon, it just bugs out. If i click it enough, an empty player transfer icon shows up. It says I need 3 spanish players 80+ overall. I have them but whether or not they are in my lineup, this bug persists. Any help on this?

U can throw in some elite sub players right away. It looks like they only allow 3 subs, so I’ve put in 2 ST and 1 CAM and I can at least score some goals. But I still have yet to win because I can’t stop them from tracking on extra goals. But it does help. Good Luck.

Fix those last 3 games to unlock Casillas, those guys are just unbeatable with any team, it’s impossible to beat them after hundreds of tries, I’m literally close to deleting the game coz of this

If it was about torres, then league would have been LaLiga, because thats the final and main team he played for. Fifa works in a way where the team of the icon is the one where he was prime. If you dont believe me, check out casillas, he played his last 5 yrs in porto, but his card is of RM, because that was his iconic period. It should be Real Madrid squad.

Ok, from my understanding from the last 2 chapters, the final reward is related to the team we had to build (eg. Spanish players and Puyol, Premier league and Gerrard). And since the final reward of the ‘Team’ chapter is Casillas, and in the game his assigned team is Real Madrid, shouldn’t the team we’re building be Real Madrid? I’m sure Torres and Atletico isn’t related, since he’s a free reward for us to claim by completing the quests. So in my opinion, Real Madrid is the team we should build for the final chapter in a few days

exchange doesn’t work corretly. I uprade Spain player Juan Mata from 78 to 80 and exchange doesn’t to accept this plat as 80+ spain player. any other bugs it there like a referee ball during game.. you have to restart the app 😒

From the Exchange page: “Training level cannot be inherited when performing an exchange. Please perform any necessary transfer before the exchange.”

So, Exchange is working properly. You need base elites, not trained ones.
