By mimicking these molecules, THC is able to activate different neurological pathways in the body — leading to a wide range of therapeutic benefits. Some of these pathways result in the psychoactive effects characteristic of marijuana.

There are several different types of THC. Each one shares similar psychoactive effects, but with some subtle differences:  

This is the main form of THC abundant in all marijuana strains. Delta 9 THC has a double-bond on the ninth carbon in the central ring structure of the molecule. 

This version of THC is used as the baseline for measuring the effects and potency of THC. It’s about two times stronger than delta 8 and delta 10 THC and about four times stronger than THCV. 

This version of THC is much rarer in nature — most cannabis plants produce less than 1% delta 8 THC. It’s formed as delta 9 THC degrades. Some turn into CBN (cannabinol), some turn into delta 8, both of which are more stable than delta 9 THC. 

Delta 8 THC is about 50% as strong as delta 9 THC. 

Delta 10 THC is also very rare in the plant, but can be isomerized from CBD or other cannabinoids. This cannabinoid is characterized by a double bond located on the 10th carbon in the central ring structure. 

The potency of delta 10 THC is comparable to delta 8, but has slightly stronger stimulating effects. 

THCV (tetrahydrocannabivarin) is common in African landrace strains but uncommon in most Cannabis sativa plants. It’s about 25% as potent as delta 9 THC but has much stronger appetite suppressant action. 

THCP is the strongest form of THC known. It’s thought to be as much as 33 times stronger than delta 9 THC. Research on this cannabinoid is sparse but starting to pick up as more researchers are becoming interested in novel cannabinoids. 

Some researchers believe this cannabinoid could explain why some strains of marijuana are so much stronger than others, despite sharing similar delta 9 THC concentrations. This cannabinoid is extremely potent — only trace amounts are needed for a noticeable difference in potency. 

THC-O is a synthetically modified version of THC. An acetate group is attached to the structure to make it significantly more bioavailable to the body than conventional THC. 

THC-O takes longer to kick in but offers more potent effects. 

While some studies suggest THC-O is about three times as strong as delta 9 THC, most users agree it’s closer to about 1.5 or 2 times as strong. 

Where Does THC Come From?

THC is exclusively produced in the cannabis plant. 

THC begins its life as another cannabinoid, called CBGa (cannabigerolic acid). Various enzymes in the plant then convert CBGa to THCa (tetrahydrocannabinolic acid), CBDa (cannabidiolic acid), and CBCa (cannabichromic acid). 

Each strain has different enzymes and will therefore produce different ratios of these cannabinoids. Hemp plants, for example, have very little enzyme activity that converts CBGa to THCa, and a lot of enzyme activity that converts CBGa to CBDa. 

Likewise, marijuana plants have a high prevalence of enzymes that convert CBGa to THCa. 

THCa is later converted to THC when exposed to heat or UV light. When cannabis is burned, the high heat spontaneously converts THCa to the active form THC through a process called decarboxylation.

Experts estimate that the effects of cannabis were known to humans as far back as about 28 million years ago. In more recent history, marijuana containing delta 9 THC has been given countless nicknames and street names.

What Does Delta 9 THC Feel Like?

The THC “high” feels similar to being drunk, but with less “haziness” (mentally) and a stronger body load.

How THC Feels According to Dose

The effects of THC can vary quite a bit depending on the dose.

Generally speaking, lower doses are more mellow and adaptogenic. They’re calming and even a little bit sedating.

Higher doses shift and become much more stimulating and psychoactive.

When smoking or vaping marijuana, most users report a rapid onset of a high, sometimes within seconds and usually within 1-2 minutes. The high from smoking lasts about 2 hours for most users.

Consuming edibles or gummies means the THC is absorbed into your bloodstream via your digestive tract. Delta 9 THC Tolerance

A tolerance break is usually a period of at least several weeks where the user consumes no THC at all. By the end of the T-break, the number of CB1 receptors that receive THC should increase dramatically, making the effects of equal doses significantly more potent.

Other users report that switching to a high-CBD strain for several weeks can help reduce THC tolerance, but there is only anecdotal evidence to support this.

Is Delta 9 THC Legal?

In the recent past, the legality of delta 9 THC has been determined by the intended use. Weed for recreational use is illegal in most countries and most states throughout America. On the other hand, medical marijuana is more widely legal. This is especially true in America, where most states have a medical marijuana program.

Delta 9 THC remains illegal on a federal level in the United States and is classified as a Schedule I drug by the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA). However, individual states have decriminalized or entirely legalized delta 9 THC on a state level.

There has been extensive research done on the safety of using delta 9 THC in a variety of forms, including inhalation and consumption via edibles. There are potential medical issues related to inhaling any substance, including THC.

With that aside, delta 9 THC is considered to be a generally safe psychoactive substance. People aren’t getting sick and dying from using delta 9 THC — and that says a lot because there are a lot of people that use a lot of THC .

Researchers still have not found the lethal dose of THC (LD50) [ 3 ]. You would need to consume more marijuana than you can physically take before you reach the toxic dose of THC.

However, the effects of a massive dose can be unpleasant psychologically and may trigger depersonalization in some users [ 4 ].

Additionally, THC may interact negatively with certain medications or specific underlying health issues. Always speak with your doctor about using THC if you’re prescribed any medication or have any underlying health diagnosis.

Moscow-City: 7 surprising facts about the Russian capital’s business center

1. Guinness World Record in highlining

The record was set in 2019 by a team of seven athletes from Russia, Germany, France and Canada. They did it on September 8, on which the ‘Moscow-City Day’ is celebrated. The cord was stretched at the height of 350 m between the ‘OKO’ (“Eye”) and ‘Neva Towers’ skyscrapers. The distance between them is 245 m. The first of the athletes to cross was Friede Kuhne from Germany. The athletes didn't just walk, but also performed some daredevil tricks. Their record is 103 meters higher than the previous one set in Mexico City in December 2016.

2. Domination of Europe's top-10 highest skyscrapers

7 out of 10 Europe’s highest skyscrapers are located in Moscow-City. Earlier, the  ‘Federation Tower’ complex’s ‘Vostok’ (“East”) skyscraper was the considered the tallest in Europe.

However, in 2018, the construction of the 462 meter tall ‘Lakhta Center’ in Saint-Petersburg was completed, pushing ‘Vostok’ (374 m) into 2nd place. The 3rd place is taken by OKO’s southern tower (354 m).

3. The unrealized ‘Rossiya’ tower

If all the building plans of Moscow-City were realized, the ‘Lakhta Center’ in St. Petersburg wouldn't have a chance to be Europe's highest skyscraper. Boris Tkhor, the architect who designed the concept of Moscow-City, had planned for the ‘Rossiya’ tower to be the tallest. In his project, it was a 600 meter tall golden cylindrical skyscraper ending with a spire that was inspired by traditional Russian bell towers. Then, the project was reinvented by famous British architect Sir Norman Foster. He had designed ‘Rossiya’ as a pyramid ending with a spire. The skyscraper itself would have been 612 meters tall, and the height including the spire would have reached 744,5 meters (for comparison, the ‘Burj Khalifa’ in Dubai, UAE, would have been just 83,5 meters taller). Unfortunately, the investors faced a lot of economic problems, due to the 2008 financial crisis, so the ‘Rossiya’ skyscraper was never built. A shopping mall and the ‘Neva Towers’ complex was constructed at its place in 2019.

4. Changed appearance of ‘Federation Tower’

In its first project, the ‘Federation Tower’ was designed to resemble a ship with a mast and two sails. The mast was to be represented by a tall glass spire with passages between the towers. It was planned to make a high-speed lift in it. The top of the spire was going to be turned into an observation deck. But the ship lost its mast in the middle of its construction. Experts at the Moscow-city Museum based in the ‘Imperia’ (“Empire”) tower say, that the construction of the spire was stopped, firstly, due to fire safety reasons and secondly, because it posed a threat to helicopter flights – the flickering glass of the spire could potentially blind the pilots. So, the half-built construction was disassembled. However, an observation deck was opened in the ‘Vostok’ tower.

5. Open windows of ‘Federation Tower’

We all know that the windows of the upper floors in different buildings don’t usually open. Experts say that it’s not actually for people’s safety. Falling from a big height is likely to be fatal in any building. The actual reason is the ventilation system. In a skyscraper, it’s managed with a mechanical system, and the building has its own climate. But in the ‘Zapad’ (“West”) tower of the ‘Federation Tower’ complex, the windows can open. The 62nd and last floor of the tower are taken up by a restaurant called ‘Sixty’. There, the windows are equipped with a special hydraulic system. They open for a short period of time accompanied by classical music, so the guests can take breathtaking photos of Moscow.

6. Broken glass units of ‘Federation Tower’

The guests of the ‘Sixty’ restaurant at the top of the ‘Zapad’ tower can be surprised to see cracked glass window panes. It is particularly strange, if we take into consideration the special type of this glass. It is extremely solid and can’t be broken once installed. For example, during experiments people threw all sorts of heavy items at the windows, but the glass wouldn’t break. The broken glass units of ‘Zapad’ were already damaged during shipment . As each of them is curved in its own way to make the tower’s curvature smooth, making a new set of window panes and bringing them to Russia was deemed too expensive . Moreover, the investors had financial problems (again, due to the 2008 financial crisis), so the ‘Vostok’ tower even stood unfinished for several years. Eventually, the cracked window panes were installed in their place.

7. The highest restaurant in Europe

‘Birds’, another restaurant in Moscow-City, is remarkable for its location. It was opened at the end of 2019 on the 84th floor of the ‘OKO’ complex’s southern tower. Guests at the restaurant can enjoy an amazing panoramic view at a height of 336 meters. On January 28, the experts of ‘Kniga Recordov Rossii’ (“Russian Records Book”) declared ‘Birds’ the highest restaurant in Europe, a step toward an application for a Guinness World Record.

Few celestial events have the power to capture our collective attention the way this upcoming total solar eclipse has managed to do. And for those making time to witness it, two questions are bound to be on their mind : Will totality reach my area and if so, how long will the resulting darkness last?

Most people across the country are bound to experience the eclipse in some form, but only 13 states fall directly on the path of totality, where the moon will appear large enough to shield all but the sun's outermost layer, the corona.

The 115-mile-wide path of totality will pass from southwest to northeast over portions of Mexico the United States and Canada.

Mexico's Pacific coast will be the first location in continental North America to experience totality, which will occur at about 11:07 a.m. PDT,  according to NASA .

As the moon's shadow travels northeast, totality in the U.S. will begin at 1:27 p.m. CDT in Eagle Pass, Texas. From there, the path will cut diagonally across the country before ending around 3:35 p.m. EDT in Lee, Maine.

Remember: If you plan to witness the eclipse, proper eyewear is a must until the eclipse reaches totality, then it can be viewed with the naked eye.

What is Delta Airlines’ dress code after passengers were removed for not wearing a bra?

Delta Airlines has recently gained attention for its alleged treatment of women for what they showed up wearing on one of their flights.

In the last two months there have been instances in which women were almost removed from planes because they were not wearing a bra . Here is what the airline’s rules state and whether or not a person can actually be removed for what they are wearing.

Delta has recently updated its Contract of Carriage, as of 12 March 2024, which is essentially their list of rules for passengers flying with them. Rule seven specifies its refusal to transport policies.

Various methods that Delta states will allow them to remove any passenger from its aircraft at any time include: government request, refusal to allow themselves or their property to be searched, refusal to produce appropriate identification, failure to comply with Delta’s rules or Contract of Carriage, and the passenger’s conduct or condition.

Under that section, the rule explains that a passenger may not be removed from a Delta flight for having a disability. “Delta will not refuse to provide transportation based upon race, color, national origin, religion, sex, or ancestry,” the rule reads.

In terms of a dress code, the airline does require that the passengers wear shoes and says they may be removed for being barefoot. The rule also states a passenger may be refused transportation, when “conduct, attire, hygiene or odor creates an unreasonable risk of offense or annoyance to other passengers”.

According to this rule the airline can make the decision to remove a passenger for not wearing a bra.

Last week, a woman said that Delta Airlines targeted her for not wearing a bra . During a news press conference on Thursday, 28 March, 38-year-old DJ Lisa Archbold held a news conference with her attorney, Gloria Allred , claiming that when she showed up to board her Delta Airlines flight at Salt Lake City Airport in January, she was singled out by airline staff. Archbold told the press: “I was targeted and humiliated.”

“It felt like a scarlet letter was being attached to me,” Archbold recalled of being escorted off the plane in baggy jeans and a loose white T-shirt with no bra. “I felt it was a spectacle aimed at punishing me for not being a woman in the way she thought I should be a woman as she scolded me outside of the plane.”

Once the entire plane was seated, a flight attendant came to Archbold’s seat. She asked her to speak in private and escorted her off the plane. Allred noted that Archbold suspected her braless outfit was the cause. The attorney said, “The gate agent told her that when passengers are wearing offensive or revealing clothing, Delta’s official policy is to remove them from the flight.”

Archbold was reportedly only allowed to fly under one condition: that she must wear another shirt on top of the one she was wearing. At the time, the head flight attendant reportedly informed her that “women must cover up” according to Delta’s official policy. She had been flying from conservative Salt Lake City, Utah, to the much more liberal San Francisco, California.

“Male passengers are not required to cover up their T-shirts with a shirt or a jacket,” Allred argued. “They also do not have to wear a bra to board or remain on a plane and women should not have to wear one either.”

Her attorney noted at the time that according to US federal rules, airlines can only remove passengers who present a clear safety or security risk to the plane or its passengers. Archbold, however, was neither.

Although there are no plans to go forward with a lawsuit, Allred said that she and her client want a sit-down meeting with the president of Delta Airlines to ensure that their policies will be updated to reflect 21st-century values and standards.

Tulum's Airport Is Officially Open — See the Flight Schedule for American, Delta, and More U.S. Airlines

United, and JetBlue will also be flying to the new airport.

The Riviera Maya in Mexico has long been an unquestionable destination favorite, lined with dozens of beachfront resorts and a lively nightlife scene. But travelers yearning for a more laidback, bohemian vibe can now fly further south into Tulum’s brand-new Felipe Carrilo Puerto International Airport (TQO), which welcomed its first-ever international flights just last week.

Travelers visiting Tulum will no longer have to fuss getting to Cancun International Airport, tacking on an additional two-hour journey. Instead, the new airport is situated just 30 minutes by car to Tulum’s most famed beaches and Mayan ruins . 

Several domestic carriers, like American, Delta, and United, have already kicked off nonstop flights to Tulum , with additional routes underway. This latest expansion offers even more travel possibilities to Mexico for fliers across the U.S. from the following cities.

American Airlines

Three of American’s hubs have nonstop service to Tulum , as the airline inaugurated service to the new international airport on opening day last week. American operates a once-daily service from Charlotte and Miami with the following schedule:

• Depart Charlotte (CLT) 11:07 a.m. — Arrive Tulum (TQO) 1:20 p.m.
• Depart Tulum (TQO) 2:20 p.m. — Arrive Charlotte (CLT) 6:24 p.m. 
• Depart Miami (MIA) 12:05 p.m. — Arrive Tulum (TQO) 1:15 p.m.
• Depart Tulum (TQO) 2:15 p.m. — Arrive Miami (MIA) 5:10 p.m. 

Additionally, travelers can also choose from twice-daily flights from its Dallas-Fort Worth mega-hub, which departs in the morning or by mid-day. American offers two afternoon departures from Tulum, getting travelers back to Dallas-Fort Worth before early evening. All three routes clock in at under three hours and are served by a Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

Delta Air Lines

Also on March 28, Delta inaugurated year-round service to Tulum from its mega-hub at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), offering seamless connections to more than 300 cities across the U.S. and worldwide. While Atlanta is the only airport to see nonstop Tulum flights for now, it’s possible that Delta will bring service from New York, Detroit, and Minneapolis, among others down the line.

For now, Delta’s sole Tulum flight is just shy of three hours, operated with its narrowbody 737-800 aircraft. The airline’s schedule is aptly planned for resort travelers, as the once-daily flight departs Atlanta at 11:10 a.m. before touching down at 1 p.m. local time. Departing Tulum, the flight leaves at 2:25 p.m. and arrives at 6:08 p.m. in Atlanta.

JetBlue’s planned Tulum service hasn’t started just yet, but the airline announced that the new flight will kick off on June 13. This new flight will depart once daily out of John F. Kennedy International Airport, connecting New York-based travelers to Tulum in under 4.5 hours.

This year-round flight will take off from New York-JFK at 7:55 a.m. and arrive at 11:15 a.m. When it’s time to leave paradise, travelers will depart Tulum at 12:45 p.m. and return at 5:50 p.m. Travelers will enjoy flying on JetBlue’s staple Airbus A320 aircraft, equipped with live TV, free Wi-Fi, and snacks onboard. 

As a leisure-based airline, JetBlue has been serving Mexico for nearly two decades. The airline’s newest Tulum service is a welcome addition to its existing flights to other tourist hotspots in Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, and Los Cabos.

United Airlines

On March 31, United started service between Tulum and a few hubs across the country. Travelers can now fly on the airline’s once-daily routes from Chicago O’Hare International Airport, Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport, and Newark Liberty International Airport with the following flight times:

• Depart Chicago (ORD) 11:07 a.m. — Arrive Tulum (TQO) 1:20 p.m.
• Depart Tulum (TQO) 2:10 p.m. — Arrive Chicago (ORD) 6:05 p.m. 
• Depart Newark (EWR) 10:07 a.m. — Arrive Tulum (TQO) 1:15 p.m.
• Depart Tulum (TQO) 2:25 p.m. — Arrive Newark (EWR) 7:23 p.m. 
• Depart Houston (IAH) 9:35 a.m. — Arrive Tulum (TQO) 11:55 a.m.
• Depart Tulum (TQO) 1:05 p.m. — Arrive Houston (IAH) 3:31 p.m. 

Furthermore, United plans to debut service from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) in time for Memorial Day weekend. This flight will be operated seasonally, inaugurating on May 23. United plans to use a Boeing 737-900 aircraft for all four new routes to Tulum, with a total of up to 22 weekly flights at its peak.

Spirit Airlines

Last fall, low-cost Spirit Airlines announced plans to launch Tulum flights from two major Florida airports, Orlando and Fort Lauderdale, on March 28. However, the carrier later postponed the start date of these Tulum routes until further notice due to engine part constraints of its fleet.
