18 Shocking Photobombs We Never Saw Coming

Funny Moments That Came Out of Nowhere

  • Holiday Humor

Everyone loves a good photobomb, even  animals and celebrities!

Because some of the best photobombs and videobombs are not planned and happen on the spur of the moment, it's easy to see why there is unlimited potential to FAIL during your average photobombing.  One misplaced limb, one drunk friend, one perfectly timed action shot ... that's all it takes to royally screw up your photo, with hilarious results. Check out 18 totally unexpected photobombs that are so wrong, they're actually right!

Love Is In The Air

"Invite Aunt Becky and her new boyfriend," they said.  "It'll be fine," they said.

Get a room, you two! Seriously .

The "That's Not A Foot" Guy

Well, this is awkward.  One misplaced foot and suddenly it looks like this guy's junk is hanging out.

"OMG, This Wedding Will Never End"

We've all been to our fair share of bad weddings , but hopefully we've never been caught rolling our eyes skyward like this wedding guest. How embarrassing!  Let's hope he bought them a good gift.

"The Marilyn Monroe"

When it's windy out, you might want to consider wearing some underwear under your dress*.  Just a thought!

*Buttcracks have been blurred to protect the innocent.

The Tourist

Pay no attention to the crashing bicyclist in the background! We're sure he's fine , although his modeling career is probably over.

The Dirty Old Man

On this week's episode of To Catch A Predator ...

Oh Hi, Naked Dude....

Holy cow, man, this is a NEW LOW.

Whether or not this is actually these girls' father or just some random stranger, this whole scene is just plain wrong.

Meet Dan. Dan is Really Flexible.

Is that your hand, or are you just glad to see us? The best part about this pic is that he's lit better than the girls in the foreground, so he really stands out. Spotlight on the perv!

Just Swabbing The Deck

Nothing to see here; just doing a little spring cleaning. You just never know what you're going to see on the beach!

That's A Shadow, I Promise

Those pesky shadows can really muck up a good poolside picture!  Here we see a guy posing normally, but due to an unfortunate shadow in his crotchal region, it kind of looks like his dong is popping out to say howdy.

However, since the pic isn't exactly unflattering, something tells me he didn't take this picture offline.  In fact, he's probably using it as his dating site profile picture, and we wouldn't blame him a bit.

The Background Barfer

Girls in the foreground: "Wheee, we're cute blondes and we're having so much fun!"

Girl and guy in the background: "Uggughggh, I'm never drinking again..."

The "Insert Baby Here" Shot

These folks were just out and about, taking a picture with an historic canon in the background.  What, wait a second?  Is that...?

Yes, that's a couple trying to stuff their baby into the cannon.  As a joke?  We hope?

The Classic "Before" Shot

This is one of those great action shots that is so hard to come by, maybe because posing for shots like this is bound to really tick someone off.

Something tells me that the smiling girl in the front is about to get really, really upset.

The "Good Girls Gone Bad" Image

Here we have a couple of frisky vixens clowning around while out on the town... along with the utterly shocked guy behind them, who just cannot believe what he is seeing.  How scandalous!

The "Splash Down" Photobomb

Again, liquids and movement team up to make this ultimate party photobomb.  Cue someone getting mad in 3, 2, 1....

The "Pay No Attention To This Guy" Photobomb

Ugh, this one is uncomfortable to look at, am I right?  Here's another classic photobomb that makes us all cringe.  A loving couple who are clearly enjoying a tropical vacation, leaning over their respective horses to give each other a kiss.  Cute, right?  Unless you notice the poor guy whose job it is to lead their horses through six feet of water while trying not to, you know, drown .

The "Boy Meet Floor" Photo

Ouch, he is going to feel that in the morning!

This pic is like a PSA to encourage responsible drinking, but who doesn't love a good faceplant picture now and then?  The best part about this picture is how completely oblivious the girls in the front appear to be.  Classic photobomb material.

The Embarrassing Dad

Some dads are terrific , others can't be bothered to put on pants when you're taking a(n admittedly douchey) selfie. Guess which kind this is?

Stingray Photobomb: The Story Behind The Viral Photo Sensation

After a hilarious vacation photo went viral last week , one of the subjects of the image emailed The Huffington Post to fill in the backstory of the sensational image that appears to show a stingray "photobombing" a group of swimmers.

Here's how school teacher Sarah Bourland explains the amazing capture in an email to HuffPost Travel:

I had no idea that this photo was going to become so huge! To be honest, I had no idea that it was even posted to reddit.com until I started getting a slew of phone calls, texts, emails, photo messages [and] Facebook tags of people saying that they saw me on Reddit. I was so confused because I had no idea what was going on. People then started sending me memes of the photo and that's when it hit me, I have reached meme status in my life! How many people can say that?! This entire thing is hilarious to me! I'm a school teacher in Fort Worth, and all my kids think that I'm a celebrity and keep asking for my autograph and if I know Justin Beiber and other teen icons. This photo was taken five years ago in Cayman Island at Stingray Island. We were on a cruise for spring break. The photographer originally asked us to take a photo with the stingray in front of us, which we did, but then afterward as a joke he put it on our backs without us knowing! Our reactions are genuine, and the photographer snapped the photo at the perfect time! We had no idea that the photo was so brilliant until later when he showed us the proof. We immediately bought it. From left to right are Sarah Bourland, Natalie Zaysoff, Kendall Harlan. It was a huge hit back at Texas Christian University, where we were going to school at the time, and so we decided to try and send it to the Ellen show. For five years now she has been denying us, but now that it has gone viral we are hoping that this is our chance!

Bourland also sent along another photo from her trip, this one a much different image than the one that rocketed around the internet last week:

It's quite different than the now-famous image:

Hilarious Photo Bombs That Are Completely Unedited

Hilarious travel photo bombs.

Hilarious travel photo bomb

Part of the allure of traveling is being able to expect the unexpected.

While trying to take a selfie at Machu Picchu in Peru, you may be joined by a llama with a big goofy grin. Or in Europe, you may stage an artful photo only to find that, unbeknownst to you, three random dudes have decided to pose like idiots behind you.

Each of the following photos features a memorable photo bomber (or two, or three) who — we think — make the picture way better. After all, what’s the fun of taking pictures without a little unexpected silliness thrown in the mix?

Monkeying Around

View this post on Instagram A post shared by KRAIZ (@kraizdj)

If there's an animal better-suited to photobombing than the mischievous monkey, we know not what it is. Gotta love the introspective look, too.

Location of the photobomb: Phuket, Thailand, which is home to about 1,000 monkeys (who may or may not crash your pictures)

Friendly Skies

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Billy Wilson (@flywithbilly48)

Keeping passengers safe is no joke, but crashing a selfie always is. So you have to give credit to these crewmembers who had some fun by playfully mocking a muscle-flexing pilot.

Location of the photobomb: A grounded (thankfully!) plane at Ontario International Airport in California

Now That’s Commitment

View this post on Instagram A post shared by AjCiao (@ajciao)

A group of strangers saw that a woman wanted to take an Insta-worthy city picture while traveling in Europe. So they decided to make her picture truly memorable by posing goofily in the background.

With their perfect angles and hilarious silly-serious expressions, it’s no wonder they had her laughing .

Location of the photobomb: Beautiful, historic Brussels, Belgium, where you may encounter one (or more!) mischief-makers

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Animals_Selfie (@animals_selfie)

Their intelligence and playful personalities make llamas popular photo-bombers. Unlike their shyer alpaca counterparts, they are known to come right up and pose with you (assuming they’re not territorial or paranoid or too wild or any other possible issue that could make them not approachable…).

But, hey, if they do show up – it’s clearly worth it.

Location of the photobomb: Machu Picchu, hands-down the best place to have your photo crashed by a llama

Cock-a-Doodle-Photo-Bomb

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Celeste And The Sea (@celeste_and_the_sea)

Everything about this photo — from the excellent composition, to the tranquil pose, to the extraordinary scenery — is picture-perfect. Obviously a local rooster thought the same, deciding he wanted to be a part of the stunning shot.

It’d be easy enough to photoshop the accidental photo-bomber out, but leaving him in feels more authentic — not to mention way more hilarious.

Location of the photobomb: Pura Lempuyang Luhur temple in Bali, Indonesia, where roosters and hens abound

Shake It Off

View this post on Instagram A post shared by La Nuova Sardegna (@lanuovasardegna)

These women were clearly posed and ready for their great beach shot when a dog came along and decided to really let loose. From the laughs and smiles on their faces, it seems they didn’t mind the intrusion.  We hope they came up with a cute dog caption for their Instagram post!

Location of the photobomb: Sardinia, a dog-friendly Italian island in the Mediterranean Sea

Chill Buddy

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Mo (@mosparadisediaries)

Swinging on a wooden swing on a sunny day under a thatched tiki umbrella at a stunning golden beach might be the actual definition of relaxation. Can you really blame this happy pooch for wanting to enjoy the good vibes, too?

Location of the photobomb: A beach in Bali, Indonesia (which, it seems, is the absolute best place to go if you want to get photo-bombed!)

Muscle Beach

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Viljoen van Niekerk (@viljoen_places)

This isn’t the famous “Muscle Beach” in Southern California, but a beach with some muscles randomly thrown in. Hey, if we looked as fit as this photo-bomber, we’d be crashing pictures to show off too!

Location of the photobomb: La Concha, a crescent-shaped beach in the glitzy resort town of San Sebastián, Spain

Street Scene

View this post on Instagram A post shared by 3 Girls Travelling The World (@postcardsinmypurse)

It’s always nice to capture candid moments while traveling. Even something as simple as walking along the street can help give a feel for where you’re visiting.

You do need to be aware, though, that by posing along the street, you may encounter strangers who want to pose along with you.

Location of the photobomb: The artsy streets of Budapest, Hungary's historic-meets-modern capital city

Drink Like A Fish

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Smoke Before Fire (@smoke.before.fire)

These days, it’s not uncommon for people to pause before eating or drinking in order to snap an appetizing picture of whatever they’re about to consume. But there’s plenty that can go wrong in the process of capturing that picture.

You can have bad lighting, funky reflections — or a man can come along and put his full mouth on the glass behind you...really anything can happen!

Location of the photobomb: A restaurant in Rittenhouse Square, a historic neighborhood with a public park at its center in Philadelphia

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Toby (@tobythesfdoodle)

We’ve already seen plenty of pictures where animals photo-bombed humans. It’s about time we saw a human photo-bomb an animal right back! This happily posing pup seems blissfully unaware of the human behind him throwing up classic “bunny ears.”

Unsurprisingly, it only made the adorable dog even cuter.

Location of the photobomb: The pooch-friendly San Francisco International Airport

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Online Wellness Coach (@anag97)

You’ve finally made it to a beautiful fountain you’ve been wanting to see, and you can’t wait to get a picture in front of it. But, like so often happens, the world throws something more entertaining your way, when a young boy you don’t know does “the dab” in the background as you carefully pose.

Does this make the photo better or worse? You decide.

Location of the photobomb: Unclear. But as everyone knows, the dab is all-ages fun no matter where you are.

The Milan Cathedral in Italy is a gorgeous structure in the heart of a bustling modern European city. It’s an obvious place to snap a photo to show your family upon returning home.

And if a bird crashes the photo in just such a way as to block your entire face?

Even better.

Intense Eye Contact

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jessica Schuler (@jessica__kae)

Everyone’s been there: You become so interested in something that you seem to lose track of everything else around you.

That’s what happened to this little guy, who clearly didn’t realize that his fascination with this statue made him an accidental visitor in an otherwise perfectly posed photo.

The Happiest Photobomb on Earth

Disneyland is well-known for being a happy place to visit. So happy that, if you take a picture, you may even have a worker decide to pop in and add more unexpected happiness to your shot.

Happily Ever Surfer

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Kayley Vigesaa (@kayleyj27)

Wedding pictures taken on a beach can be stunning, but there are plenty of challenges to getting the right shot. Like, for instance, wind, sand, critters who don’t know to stay out of the frame — and surfers who want to watch you kiss while taking a break from riding the waves.

Location of the photobomb: Beach in Miami

“Yer a Goofball, Harry!”

View this post on Instagram A post shared by (@carabeigel)

Thanks to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, a theme park located at Universal Studios in Florida and California, you can now visit the magical land where Harry Potter and his friends had their adventures. You can even get a picture drinking Butterbeer and holding a magical wand.

Just be aware that there are always people making mischief — just like in the books!

Location of the photobomb: Diagon Alley, Universal Studios

Say “Bike!”

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Anas (@anas_photolab)

When traveling to a beautiful new place, you may want to capture a quiet moment on the street so you can remember the city’s ambiance. For some, getting the perfect contrast and balance in the composition is extremely important.

But even when you do your best to make sure everything is planned out perfectly, there’s always a chance that someone will zoom by on a bike and turn the shot into something totally different.

Location of the photobomb: Royal Palace outside Paris

Photobombing Family

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Janet James (@caymd)

They say Stonehenge has its own strange energy. And if that strange energy takes over your family, you’d better be ready for some goofy, photobombing family members to turn your nice picture into something very, well, unique.

Location of the photobomb: Stonehenge in Salisbury, England

Gir-affable Personality

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Marc Chang (@marc.sg)

When you go to a giraffe center, it’s normal to want a picture with a giraffe. Having the extraordinary creature in the background will add some serious pizazz to any shot you take.

But don’t be fooled — giraffes can photobomb, too! (Judging by the big smiles on their faces in this photo, visitors don’t seem to mind the intrusion.)

Location of the photobomb: Giraffe Centre Nairobi, Kenya

The brightly dressed child in this picture understandably figured they were going to be the star of this photoshoot. But even the cutest child can’t compete with a bouncing kangaroo.

The only thing better than one photobomber? Two photobombers!

In this photo, the kid with the mini-flamingo pool toy likely thought he was the only one crashing his buddy’s picture. Little did he know there was another, stealthier photobomber getting up to mischief in the background...

Moo-ve Out of the Way

View this post on Instagram A post shared by mattialezi (@mattialezi)

There’s nothing quite as nice as being active on a beautiful day in a gorgeous natural area and pausing to get a picture to remember the happy moment. That’s assuming, of course, you’re sharing the moment alone with just a friend, and not some four-legged uninvited friends in the background who want to photobomb your picture.

Location of the photobomb: Patrico Spoleto, Italy

Double Smile

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Valeria Vescovi (@valeria_vescovi)

It’s a classic tourist move to get a nice smiling picture in front of a recognizable building from whatever town you’re visiting. And sometimes, another tourist may be so kind as to join you in smiling for the camera...even if you don’t know who they are.

As they say, two smiles are better than one!

Say cheese! Jon Hamm and Jimmy Fallon photobomb tourists

Image: Jimmy Fallon and Jon Hamm

Jimmy Fallon gave visitors to Rockefeller Center's Top of the Rock in New York a souvenir worth bragging about when he and "Mad Men" star Jon Hamm photobombed their tourist snapshots.

During "The Tonight Show" Monday, the comedian said that his crew told sightseers that they were taking photos to be used for the Top of the Rock's website.

"We were lying," he deadpanned before cracking himself up as he explained the "Celebrity Photobomb" gag.

Behind the backs of the unsuspecting, the duo pulled off poses ranging from chowing down on a hoagie "Lady and the Tramp" style, to doing a Kriss Kross ("Jump!") to chest bumping and more.

"Everyone's going to be out there doing the hoagie-ing photobomb," Fallon predicted afterward.

The antics had Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb giggling on Tuesday during TODAY. "The genius of Jimmy (is) he can get pretty much anyone to do pretty much anything!" Gifford said.

"The Tonight Show" airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. on NBC.

Watch: Safari Tourist Gets Photobombed By Selfie-Loving ELEPHANT

This is the extraordinary moment an elephant decided he wanted in on a bit of selfie action by photobombing a young safari tourist.

The huge animal was being papped by a group taking a tour round a wild game reserve in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, when it started to walk towards them.

Thomas Chan, 20, from California, USA, was sat in a safari jeep with a guide when the bull elephant approached the convoy.

The majestic beast had been inspecting a nearby van full of students from Thomas’ university, Azusa Pacific, when he turned his attention to the jeep.

As Thomas sat their stunned, the elephant stood perfectly in the frame for the video selfie, standing less than an arm’s length away from the cameraman.

And, amazingly, even after getting into shot for a selfie, the elephant appeared to reach out with its trunk so it could have a go operating the camera.

Shocked: Thomas Chan was granted an unbelievable selfie from the photobombing elephant (Caters)

The student described the moment as one of the most adrenaline-fueled events of his life.

He said: “I was shocked that I managed to get so close to the elephant, it was complete chance.

"At one point we were so close, I could’ve put my hand out and touched it – while I was taking a selfie with it it swung its trunk over, as if to make a grab for the camera, too.

"I have never felt so small and vulnerable – the elephant could’ve had its way with us if it wanted to.

"All of the others in the jeep with me were equally frightened and in awe as I was.

"After we got back, my safari guide told me that even she was nervous and unsure of what to do. She said that she wouldn’t have known what to do had the elephant charged us.”

Thankfully he was only interested in the selfie.

Arnold Schwarzenegger photobombs unsuspecting tourists in Paris

Arnold Schwarzenegger may need a little instruction on photo-taking etiquette.

The former “Mr. Olympia, Conan, Terminator, and Governor of California,” as he self-describes, visited France over the weekend to pick up an award bestowed on him by French President François Hollande.

“Thank you, President @fhollande , for presenting me with this great distinction - Commander of the order of the Legion of Honor for my environmental work,” Schwarzenegger wrote in the caption of an Instagram post. “I'm also thankful for your fantastic effort to make COP21 a success and help lead the world to a clean energy future. I look forward to continuing to work together to follow through and make our goals a reality!”

Surely, the distinction is well-deserved, but it was another Instagram post of Schwarzenegger’s that has everyone talking.

After picking up his award, Schwarzenegger took to his mountain bike and rode around visiting some of Paris’ landmarks , including the Eiffel Tower. There, the 69-year-old movie star photobombed a group of tourists just trying to get a nice picture together.

”We all went to Paris on a group tour and we all got together for a picture in front of the Eiffel Tower,” Lek Wattana told The Sun . “Then some foreigner on a bike stopped in front of the group. I was thinking to myself ‘why is he so rude?’”

After snapping the image, Schwarzenegger thanked the group for “letting me crash your photo.” It wasn’t until he rode off that the group realized who the famous, albeit rude, tourist really was.

A gorilla who became famous on the internet for appearing in a picture with her caretakers has died at age 14.

Ndakasi, a mountain gorilla who lived at Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, died after a long illness while being held in the arms of her caretaker Andre Bauma.

Rangers found Ndakasi in 2007 when she was only two months old, after her mother had been killed by poachers. Bauma held the gorilla in his arms the night she was found, and has been friends with her since then. In 2014, he told the BBC that he was like a mother to her.

Ndakasi was one of two gorillas who became famous in April 2019 after having their picture taken with two caretakers at Virunga National Park. Innocent Mburanumwe, deputy director of the park, told the BBC that the gorillas were imitating the humans they had grown up with by standing up on two legs.

The park used its internet fame to raise $50,000.

Gorillas in the wild can live for around 40 years, while those in zoos can live for as long as 50. According to Guinness World Records, the oldest living gorilla in a zoo is Fatou, who lives in Germany's Zoo Berlin and is 64 years old.

Photobombing: The Art of Unexpected Interruptions in Photography

tourist photobombed

Ever been snapped in a perfect moment only to find someone else’s goofy face in the background?

That’s photobombing, a hilarious hijack of what was supposed to be a flawless photo.

We’ll jump into the art of photobombing, exploring how these unexpected intrusions have become a beloved part of our digital culture.

Stick with us as we unpack the reasons why photobombing leaves us in stitches and how it’s evolved from a simple prank to a viral sensation.

What Is Photobombing

Photobombing occurs when an individual or object unexpectedly enters the frame as the photograph is taken, often providing a humorous or surprising element.

It’s a spontaneous act that can either be intentional, with the photobomber desiring to cause a stir, or accidental, where they’re blissfully unaware of the photo being taken.

Over time, the photobombing phenomenon has expanded with people not just stepping into photos, but also into the realm of video bombs.

This has led to memorable moments during live broadcasts and videography, adding an unpredictable twist to planned visual content.

We’re especially intrigued by how photobombing intersects with our expertise here at Filmmaking Lifestyle – it’s a concept that extends beyond just a snapshot.

It reflects a broader understanding of timing, creativity, and the ever-present desire to leave a mark in media, no matter how fleeting.

The Impact Of Photobombing

Photobombing has made a significant impact on digital culture, often turning ordinary images into internet sensations.

Here are some notable effects:

  • Increased virality of images and videos,
  • Enhanced humor and relatability in digital content,
  • Encouragement of spontaneous creativity.

In the age of social media , photobombing has proven to be a powerful tool for engagement.

tourist photobombed

Photos that might have gone unnoticed are transformed into shared and liked content, propelling photobombers to their moments of fame.

What’s fascinating is that art itself isn’t immune to this trend.

The unexpected elements introduced via photobombing mirror the elements of surprise that artists like Banksy incorporate into their work.

Just as Banksy’s art can appear anywhere, a photobomb lends itself to the unpredictability of life, enhancing the narrative of art in unexpected places.

By embracing photobombing, we acknowledge the evolving landscape of media interaction and the blurring lines between traditional photography and the dynamic world of digital expression.

The Art Of Photobombing

Photobombing has evolved into an art form, an impromptu way of injecting humor and surprise into an otherwise ordinary photo.

As enthusiasts in the world of imagery, we recognize the skill behind a well-timed photobomb.

Capturing the perfect moment requires an innate sense of timing and an eye for the comedic.

Whether it’s a squirrel leaping into the frame or a celebrity sneakily appearing behind fans, the essence of photobombing lies in its unpredictability and the joy it evokes.

Mastering Timing And Creativity

In executing a successful photobomb, timing is everything.

Here are some aspects that contribute to the mastery of this spontaneous art:

  • A keen awareness of surroundings – noticing when a photograph is about to be taken,
  • A quick response time – moving into frame at the precise moment,
  • An element of surprise – the photobomb should be unforeseen and amusing.

Expert photobombers enhance pictures with their presence, turning them into viral sensations.

Beyond the surprise factor, there’s often a creative twist that captures the viewer’s imagination.

The Social Media Effect On Photobombing

Social platforms have become the stage for photobombing to shine.

Not only do we enjoy sharing these candid moments, but we also relish the laughter and conversations they spark among our followers.

Viral photobombs tend to share certain traits:

  • Relatability – people see themselves or their friends in similar scenarios,
  • Shareability – the content is so engaging it compels people to spread the joy,
  • Memorable content – stands out in a feed crowded with ordinary posts.

We understand that beyond just producing a chuckle, these unexpected intrusions into the spotlight can encapsulate a cultural moment or become a topic of global discussion.

The Evolution Of Photobombing

Photobombing has come a long way since its inception.

What began as accidental or mischievous inclusions in photographs has blossomed into a cultural phenomenon.

It’s no longer just about being in the background; it’s about creating a moment that’s often more memorable than the intended subject.

The rise of smartphones and access to cameras has fueled photobombing’s popularity.

We all carry the means to capture and, more importantly, share these impromptu creations.

The spread of photobombing correlates with the growth of social platforms where timing, wit, and spontaneity are social currency.

tourist photobombed

Digital platforms have even incentivized photobombing by transforming it into a form of artful expression.

The creativity involved is limitless:

  • Celebrity photobombs at award shows garner immediate media attention,
  • Wedding photobombs have become a humorous trend couples anticipate,
  • Animals unknowingly drop in on pictures, often resulting in viral content.

Our fascination with photobombing underscores its transformation.

It’s not just about the action itself anymore; it’s about storytelling and connecting with others on a playful level.

The best photo bombs have an uncanny ability to both capture and enhance the mood of a moment, leading to sometimes unexpected but always relatable narratives.

From casual snapshots to meticulously planned campaigns, photobombing has seared its image into the fabric of our digital culture.

With each successive wave of viral photos, we see new techniques and styles emerging, embedding photobombing firmly into the lexicon of contemporary photography.

Why Photobombing Is Hilarious

Photobombing taps into a universal sense of humor by introducing the unexpected into the mundane.

When we glance at a typical group photo, we anticipate smiling faces and staged poses – but the sudden appearance of an unplanned character draws out laughter.

It’s the surprise factor that jolts us from the everyday and into a moment of genuine amusement.

The artful disarray caused by a photobomb brings comedy to our lives precisely because it’s unscripted.

Unlike a planned joke, nobody knows when a photobomb is about to happen, making the resulting image a spontaneous burst of joy.

As experts in visual storytelling, we appreciate how these unintentional moments reflect the randomness of life itself.

Here are some reasons why photobombing captures our funny bone:

  • It breaks the rules of traditional photography,
  • It creates a shared experience of laughter,
  • It transforms formal photos into memorable stories.

To capture a truly hilarious photobomb, one must consider timing and expression.

The intruder’s face often tells its own story – a smirk or wide-eyed surprise can make the difference between a chuckle and a belly laugh.

Photobombs are a testament to the joy of the unexpected, and with the proliferation of camera phones , these instances are more shareable than ever.

The popularity of photobombing speaks to a larger cultural shift, embracing imperfection and spontaneity in our digital narratives.

Where staged photos can sometimes feel forced, a photobomb represents a slice of reality – a fleeting, uncontrollable, delightful interruption.

From casual snapshots to red-carpet events, the thrill of the photobomb remains undiminished as we collectively revel in its capacity to surprise and delight.

The Viral Power Of Photobombing

Photobombing has become a sensation that’s more than just a quirky interruption.

It’s a way to go viral overnight.

We’ve seen individuals skyrocket to internet fame simply by popping up in the background of photos with perfect timing.

The clever use of a photobomb can spark conversations and shares across various platforms.

It’s the unplanned nature of these photobombs that makes them so shareable.

They tap into our love for content that feels genuine and unscripted.

In today’s social media landscape, photobombing is a tool for making every photo an opportunity for storytelling.

With the right elements, a photobomb can even overshadow the intended subject of the photo.

It’s not just about the intrusion, it’s about adding an element of surprise that captivates an audience.

To harness the viral power of photobombing, you should consider the following elements –

  • Timing: The unexpected entrance must be impeccably timed to maximize impact.
  • Expression: A humorous or exaggerated facial expression often adds to the appeal.
  • Context: The setting and the subjects involved can turn a simple photobomb into a trending topic.

Brands have also embraced photobombing to create buzzy marketing campaigns.

Using photobombing strategically can align a brand with humor, relatability, and spontaneity.

We’ve seen successful campaigns where mascots, celebrities, or even products deftly photobomb and So garner a lot of attention.

Photobombing has evolved beyond a candid camera moment.

It now involves a level of creativity and thought that can transform any ordinary snapshot.

Whether it’s through planned campaigns or spontaneous occurrences, photobombing continues to thrive as a dynamic and engaging form of visual communication .

We can’t help but applaud its ability to bring a burst of joy and humor to our feeds.

What Is Photobombing – Wrap Up

We’ve seen photobombing evolve into an art form that captivates audiences and brings a burst of spontaneity to our digital world.

It’s a testament to the creativity and humor that thrive in everyday moments.

As we continue to snap and share, let’s embrace the unexpected joys that photobombs add to our visual stories.

They remind us to not take life too seriously and to appreciate the laughter that comes from these serendipitous surprises.

Whether it’s through a well-timed jump in the background or a brand’s clever campaign, photobombing has secured its place in our cultural lexicon as a beloved slice of shared human experience.

The Sundarbans Ghost Photo

According to the internet, this tourist died of fright after being photobombed by a ghost in the sundarbans national park., david mikkelson, published dec. 12, 2003.

False

About this rating

Example:   [Collected via email, December 2003]

The guy in the photo went to the Sundarbans with his friends and he asked 1 of his friends to take his picture in that very place. While his friend was taking the picture he screamed and fainted, 2 days later he died in the medical college. Doctors said he died because of heart attack.   When the photos were exposed, in the last photo there was a lady standing right beside him though friends claim that he was standing alone. Many people said it is a rumor and the picture is the result of the blessings of latest technology. However, the photo itself is very scary and I'm sure you'll also feel the same way I've felt. Here you go with the photo!!! A navy officer sent this letter to 13 people and he was promoted.. A business man received this letter and threw it away.. not believing in it.. and he lost everything he had within 13 days.. It reached a labourer and he distributed it to 13 people.. he was promoted and all his problems were solved within 13 days.. So you must send this e mail to 13 people for something good to happen to you so people..get sending !! :) don't be lazy.. P/S : Do not send back to the person who send this to you!!!

Origins:   First off, for those puzzling over the reference to " Sundarbans ," it's the name of a 10,000 sq. km Bengalian rainforest nature preserve in India and Bangladesh that encompasses Sundarbans National Park .

There isn't much else to say about this item other than to note that nobody really screamed and died while his picture was being taken in the Sundarbans, leaving behind a mysterious picture with a ghostly image. This item is simply a combination of two bits of supernatural bunkum first popularized well over a century ago: spirit photography and luck chain letters . The same "ghost photo" was circulated back in September 2003 with a different backstory :

Police in an Indian city say children have stopped going to school after a local newspaper was duped into publishing a photograph of a 'ghost'. Officers say the picture, in the Thanthi newspaper in the southern city of Tiruchi, was a computer-generated fake. The photograph shows a youngster with a legless 'ghost' with long loose hair and empty eye-sockets standing behind him. The newspaper story claimed the boy was among a group of students from Bangalore who were visiting a picnic spot in the hills and says he went into coma after seeing the image.

In April of 2008 the photo began circulating with yet another location and story attached:

The young man in this photo visited a historic site in Georgia called Fort Mountain with his friends and he asked them to take his photo while hiking. While his friend took the photo, he screamed and fainted. Then 2 days later he died from a heart attack. When the photos where developed, in the last photo there was a woman standing next to the young man, even though his friends said there was no one with him when the photo was taken. Many people know of this rumor and the last photo is the result of the blessings of technology. People say its the ghost of Cherokee Chief Ross's wife Madam Firecrochet.

This particular spirit appears to get around quite a bit , and she's definitely not camera shy.

House approves bill banning structures ‘photobombing’ view of national shrines, landmarks

tourist photobombed

‘PHOTOBOMB’  Tourist take a selfie in front of the Rizal Monument at Luneta Park in Manila, with Torre de Manila, dubbed “national photobomber,” then undergoing construction in the background. —ARNOLD ALMACEN

MANILA, Philippines — The House of Representatives approved on final reading a bill prohibiting any real estate development that could ruin or obstruct the view of national shrines, monuments, and landmarks.

During Monday’s session, the lower chamber approved House Bill No. 8829, or the Cultural Property Sightline Act, which aims to amend the National Cultural Heritage Act of 2009 (Republic Act No. 10066), with 210 affirmative votes and no negative votes.

The measure also mandates local governments to pass an ordinance for the protection of any cultural property in their jurisdictions.

The measure likewise amends the definition of cultural property as “all products of human creativity by which people and a nation reveal their identity, including national historical shrines, monuments and landmarks , as declared by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines.”

‘Pambansang photobomb’

The bill, filed just March this year, stemmed from the 49-story Torre de Manila building that infamously “photobombed” the iconic monument of national hero Jose Rizal at the Luneta Park, drawing criticisms and protests, most notably from the late cultural enthusiast and activist Carlos Celdran who in June 2012 launched an online campaign against the completion of the project.

Celdran claimed the structure, derisively dubbed “Terror de Manila,” marred the view of the Rizal shrine.

In July of the same year, the city government of Manila, under the administration of then Mayor Alfredo Lim, granted a building permit to developer DM Consunji Inc. (DMCI) Homes after it submitted all requirements, including approval from the city planning office in the form of a zoning permit.

Prince Harry photobombs a picture with New Zealand sports officials.

The eight rules of photobombing – as revealed by celebrities

A fter a lifetime of being snapped, Prince Harry reportedly told Australian hockey stars Peris and Jayde Taylor that he doesn't like selfies . However it seems both he and his grandmother are partial to photobombing, since the Queen photobombed the hockey players, and Harry, mouth open and thumbs aloft, photobombed the New Zealand Sevens coach at the Commonwealth Games.

It used to be enough to just be famous and in the background of someone else's photo – but celebrity photobombers are stepping up their game, and so should the royals. Here, your various Highnesses, is how to photobomb like a king:

Michael Cera photobombing

1 Range from very creepy to mildly terrifying a la Michael Cera .

2 Adopt Hugh Laurie's technique: the glitzier the event, the sadder you should look .

Yes, you've just been photobombed by Tom Hanks.

3 Photobomb the unconscious, preferably on their own phone like Tom Hanks did (see above). That way they'll always know that, had they declined that last shot of Jagermeister, they might have met you.

4 Why not go method like Kevin Spacey? He took seconds out of his morning jog to jump into a tourist shotand shout: "This is a photobomb!" before running away.

5 Be a floating head , or preferably, a Beatle .

6 You get extra points if you're in the middle of doing a physically demanding job, like Beyoncé did when she turned up in a fan's selfie during her own concert .

jennifer lawrence emma watson

7 The overt enthusiasm of Jennifer Lawrence makes for more memorable photobombs than a thumbs up or a smile. Take note, Harry.

Actor Bill Murray "photobombs" singer Selena Gomez as they arrive for the 2014 Vanity Fair Oscars Party

8 Forget the camera altogether– "lifebomb" instead – like Bill Murray, who reportedly runs up to people on the street, hugs them and before disappearing without a trace whispers: "No one will ever believe you."

Marc Cuenco

A photo gallery of the funniest celebrity photobombs. These Hollywood funny faces range from totally wacky to slightly creepy, or a little bit of both. It doesn't matter what kind of face you're making, as long as you get in the frame.
