Honeymoon on a Disney Cruise

When my then, fiancé, told me he wanted to take a Disney Cruise for our honeymoon, it was just one more reason I knew he was the one for me!

We’re both big kids at heart, and this is the perfect way to mix fun and romance.

One of the greatest things about a Disney Cruise honeymoon is that you can make it as exciting or as relaxing as you want.

There are lots of extras including couple’s massages, dinner at the adults-only restaurant aboard every ship, and every type of excursion for shopping, tours, and adventures on land & sea.

Don’t overlook the many perks that are already included with your cruise! There’s a live Broadway style show every night, an adult-only deck with a pool and two whirlpool spas, free room service at any time of the day or night, a movie theater that shows new-release and classic Disney movies, adult-only nightclubs & lounges, and even a fine art gallery where you can view and purchase limited-edition prints!

I believe it is perfectly possible to have a fabulously romantic honeymoon aboard a Disney Cruise and hardly ever see a child. You will certainly not be the only adult waiting in line to get your picture taken with Mickey & Minnie.

From matching shirts to rocking the gear of your favorite film or tv icon, make the most of your honeymoon at Disney World. Of course, there’s plenty of merch on-site to buy when you arrive – Mickey ears are non-negotiable.

Book an Exclusive Experience 

Whether it’s a private yacht, a romantic carriage ride by horse, or the Savor the Savanna experience at Animal Kingdom – the alone time with your spouse will be priceless.

Go to the Beach 

One of our favorite Disney World honeymoon tips is to head to the beach during your visit. Yes, you can actually do that. The Beach Club Resort has a small man-made beach where you can chill out and explore the adorable BoardWalk area nearby.

There are also six lakefront locations to lounge on, play volleyball or have a snack. You can even rent a boat if you want to head out on the water for some fun.

Have a Romantic Dinner for Two 

Disney World has no shortage of top-notch dining options where you can wine and dine with the person of your dreams.

Craving seafood, steak, or spaghetti a la Lady and the Tramp? You can enjoy a romantic evening together while enjoying fine food, regardless of your favorite cuisine or ambiance. 

Top picks include ‘Ohana and Grand Floridian Cafe for romantic dinners and Olivia’s Cafe at Old Key West for a cozy breakfast.

Shop, Dine and Stroll Through EPCOT

How Much Does a Disney Honeymoon Cost?

Disney is a magical place for a honeymoon, but you may need to save up to make the most of it.

You can expect to spend from $109-$189 per ticket for an amusement park (that’s per day!). Want to do more than one? You can now enjoy park hopping, but you’ll have to pay an additional fee.

When you factor in food, hotels, and airfare – you can expect to pay between $3,000-$6,000 for a weekend Disney honeymoon if you plan on going to the park all three days and adding some special perks.

As well as this, you’ll need to have plenty in the bank for food and drink (and merch). Dinner can cost anywhere from $20-$200 per person, so we recommend saving some cash by dining at Disney Springs.

How Much Does a Disney Honeymoon Cost?

There’s no honeymoon destination quite as magical as Walt Disney World Resort. But is the cost as enchanting?  

The average Disney honeymoon costs between $3,500 and $9,000.

The total amount varies significantly depending on the length of your stay, where you stay, your dining plans,  theme park tickets, transportation, and all the extras.

Let’s take a closer look at the factors influencing the cost of a honeymoon at Disney World.

Why Disney World Honeymoon Can Be Expensive (or Inexpensive)

Honeymoons are a time to splurge and a time to create memories that will last a lifetime. That said, you don’t want to spend the first few years of your married life paying off your trip! 

The great thing about booking a “Disneymoon” packages is that there’s one for almost any budget. You can go as extravagant as you’d like, or as modest.

A Disney World honeymoon can be as dressed up or dressed down,  romantic or casual. You can have a relaxing, slow-paced honeymoon or an action-packed, non-stop honeymoon.   

Whatever your goals may be, newlyweds are guaranteed to have an enchanting and unique honeymoon that only a Disney destination can provide.   

The average cost of a Disney honeymoon ranges from $3,500 to $9,000. Of course, the total price will depend on several key factors – the time of the year you go, how long you stay, the hotel you choose, park tickets,  transportation, your dining choices, extras like (PhotoPass+ and souvenirs), and other such things.

Disney accommodates all honeymooners regardless of how much they spend.  You don’t want to go overboard, but you also probably don’t want to skimp on your honeymoon.

Major Expenses of a Disney Honeymoon

Your hotel stay may end up being the largest expense. You can go big and stay at a Deluxe resort or you can keep the emphasis on the theme parks and stay in a Value resort for roughly $200 per night. It’s your call. 

Budget-friendly Disney Value Resorts tend to be simple and family-friendly. Most people wouldn’t describe them as “romantic” but they are located right inside Walt Disney World Resort, quite affordable, and most people find them adequate. For example, you can book a standard room at All-Star Music for as low as $118, and that includes tax. Rates can vary significantly depending on the dates you choose. 

Disney Moderate Resorts have larger rooms and nicer features than the value resorts. Most people would find them more than adequate for a honeymoon, but your still not getting a luxury experience. Room rates vary depending on the dates. As an example, the price of a standard room at Port Orleans French Quarter starts at $256 per night (tax included) but the cost reaches over $400’s during some peak times of the year.

Disney Deluxe Resorts are Disney’s most expensive tier of hotels. Remember,  it’s your once-in-a-lifetime honeymoon after all, and you might want to splurge. Deluxe resorts have nicer amenities overall – rooms, restaurants, lobbies, proximity to the theme parks, etc. They have nicer beds and linens and better transportation options.  Rooms can range from $700 to $1,500+ per night.

Remember: resort stays do not include theme park tickets or food. You should plan on around $150 per person per day for park tickets and then another couple hundred per couple, per day, for food. This can be higher or lower depending on which restaurants you go to and how many extras you choose (snacks, apps, alcohol, desserts, etc.).

Best Resorts for Disney World Honeymoons

There are dozens of magical Disney resort hotels to choose from for your honeymoon. Here are a few of the ones we’d recommend. 

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

The Grand Floridian is Disney’s flagship hotel and its most opulent. It’s definitely not for budget-conscious honeymooners, but if you don’t might splurging, Grand Floridian is a great choice.

Grand Floridian’s elegant Victorian architecture and posh, multi-story lobby create the perfect fairy-tale setting for a Disneymoon. There’s even a live orchestra to enchant its guests!

The rooms are spacious, the grounds are lovely, and the resort is just steps from Magic Kingdom. The hotel is even has a stop on the Magic Kingdom monorail loop.

Grand Floridian is home to Victoria and Albert’s, an adults-only AAA Five Diamond restaurant, and a world-class spa.

Disney’s Riviera Resort

If you’re deciding between a honeymoon in Europe or at Disney World, why not compromise and stay in a villa at Disney’s Riviera Resort and Spa ?

This brand-new resort has both modern and classic touches, a fantastic art collection, great restaurants, and a dedicated stop on Disney’s new Skyliner gondola system. If you’re looking for a romantic hotel with touches of Europe throughout, consider a room at Disney’s Riviera Resort.

Disney’s Port Orleans – French Quarter

French Quarter is a New Orleans-themed Disney Moderate Resort situated along the Sassagoula River. It has a relaxing peaceful vibe that’s perfect for a romantic Disneymoon.

Immerse yourself in the architecture, take a romantic evening stroll along the river and among the magnolia trees, or head over to Scat Cat’s Club and enjoy a cocktail as you watch a live jazz performance.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge

The Animal Kingdom Lodge is a wonderful option for Disney honeymoons.

For the royal treatment, book a room that overlooks the savanna. Sit out on your balcony, have a glass of wine, and watch the giraffes walk by!

Enjoy the flavors of Africa at one of the resort’s highly acclaimed restaurants and cuddle as you watch movies under the stars. 

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge really brings out the magic of Disney!

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is one of our favorite resorts. But for the ultimate indulgence, consider spending your honeymoon at the Polynesian bungalows. These exotic floating villas have the most awe-inspiring views of Cinderella Castle (across Bay Lake) and the nightly fireworks.

Tips for a Disney Honeymoon

• Plan your Photos : Photographs allow you to revisit your special trip in full color when you’re back home. They are important. In Victoria, British Columbia, stroll amid brightly colored flower displays at the Butchart Gardens, and ride the carousel as if it's your first date.

Don't forget to take a selfie while watching the sun set as the ship sails away into the Inside Passage. You'll want to savor these moments for years to come.

Disney Wish in the Bahamas

For many couples, the idea of honeymooning on Disney Wish with hundreds of children and larger-than-life mice running amok is their worst nightmare. However, for many Disney and Marvel fans, it's a dream come true. Some super fans even choose to get married on board.

The elegant new Disney Cruise Line ship has plenty of spaces where honeymooning couples can get away for grownup entertainment. Take a dip in the infinity pool at the adults-only Quiet Cove sun deck, or find bliss during a couple's massage at the Senses Spa.

You can geek out at the Worlds of Marvel dining experience , or dress up for a gourmet meal at French restaurant Enchante by Michelin-starred chef Arnaud Lallement. After a long morning in bed, an adults-only brunch at Palo will really hit the spot.

For after-hours entertainment, you can bond over your love of "Star Wars" at the Hyperspace Lounge , where you can sip drinks inspired by the moons of Endor or the planet of Coruscant. Or, get a little rowdy at the Keg & Compass Pub over pints of craft beer.

Disney Wish sails three- and four-night cruises to Nassau and Disney's private island of Castaway Cay in the Bahamas. At the latter, you can slip away to Serenity Bay, the adults-only beach where you can sunbathe without getting splashed or sprayed with sand by your young shipmates. In Nassau, try snorkeling or deep-sea fishing.

Or, stay on the ship and enjoy the AquaMouse water ride while all the kids are ashore.

Oceania Riviera in the Mediterranean

It's rare that the wedding couple gets to really enjoy food at their own nuptials. However, you can make up for lost time on a food-centric cruise on 1,238-passenger Oceania Riviera. Sail around the romantic Mediterranean; no matter which route you choose, you'll come home with gorgeous photos and amazing stories to tell.

Your lengthy getaway of seven to 15 nights will feature a new port nearly every day, so you might need to skip one or two to ensure proper relaxation time as newlyweds. The rebel cruise line likes to do things a little differently. To start, no kids are allowed on board. It's adults-only, and the entertainment reflects the passenger demographic. Deck yourself out in red for Scarlet Night, or score front-row seats to one of the ship's phenomenal shows, such as "Duel Reality," a modern-day version of "Romeo and Juliet" where two rival "gangs" compete against one another in jaw-dropping feats of balance, strength and acrobatics. Bring your sassy selves to a drag show, or brunch at a mostly vegetarian restaurant, where the menu is divided into "nice" and "naughty."

You could even get matching tattoos right on the ship .

Some of the more intimate hotels in Disney World include the Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas, Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, Disney's BoardWalk Villas, and Disney's Beach Club Resort.

Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is consistently ranked as one of the best and most romantic hotels in Orlando. This resort portrays Victorian elegance with its iconic white exterior and red roof. This resort boasts a world-class spa, Senses – A Disney Spa and Salon at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort, and romantic restaurants, such as Victoria & Albert’s, Narcoossee’s, and Cítricos. Rooms start at $584 per night.

Guests will feel like there are on their own African safari adventure when they stay at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge . Guests enjoy spectacular views of savannas, where 30 species of African wildlife freely roam. Couples can also enjoy the 11,000-square-foot pool with a water slide and two whirlpool spas. This resort boasts award-winning dining that includes Jiko – The Cooking Place. Prices start at $388 per room.

Disney's Polynesian Village Resort celebrates the spirit of the South Pacific. Newlyweds can enjoy an oasis of tropical palms, beautiful gardens, the newly renovated Lava and Oasis pools, and the relaxing Oasis patio. Walt Disney World Theme Parks

Walt Disney World includes four theme parks: Magic Kingdom Park , Epcot , Disney’s Hollywood Studios , and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park . There are two water parks in the resort area:  Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park and Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park .

Honeymooners seeking a thrill ride will enjoy Space Mountain in the Magic Kingdom, Rockin' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith and Twilight Zone Tower of Terror in Disney Hollywood Studios, Avatar Flight of the Passage and Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain which are both in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park.

The slower rides at Magic Kingdom can also be fun for honeymooners.  Pirates of the Caribbean , “it's a small world “, and Peter Pan's Flight can be romantic and relaxing. Strolling through Main Street is also a fun way to spend the day.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park offers guests the opportunity to see hundreds of species of live animals on exhibit. Couples can journey down a romantic, mysterious river on the Na'vi River Journey . Newlyweds can board a reed boat and drift downstream through a series of caves in a bioluminescent rainforest.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge , an all-new land, opens in August 2019 in Disney's Hollywood Studios.  Star Wars fans will truly feel immersed in this galactic experience! Couples will feel like they’re on their first date when they cruise through Toy Story Land. Toy Story Mania allows couples to compete with each other and others while playing carnival games.

For a more relaxing time, newlyweds will enjoy cruising through Epcot and enjoy browsing and feasting their way through the various pavilions.  Imagine strolling through eleven different countries in one day! Once the sun sets, couples can watch the watch IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth show.

Couples should take advantage of the talented Disney PhotoPass photographers in each park. Guests can pose for cute pictures on Main Street, with characters, or with Cinderella’s Castle as the backdrop. Victoria and Albert's restaurant is located at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and is one of the preeminent restaurants in Walt Disney World Resort. This classic Victorian dining experience has been a AAA Five Diamond Award recipient since 2000. Their menu includes several courses that feature oysters, caviar, lobster, duck, tenderloin, Kobe-style beef, and of course, dessert. Prices start at $60 per adult and guests must wear proper attire.

Monsieur Paul is located in Epcot and is a gourmet restaurant serving classic French cuisine. Renowned chefs have created a spectacular menu that features Chilled Lobster a la Nage, Roasted Duck Breast, Seared Swordfish wrapped in Filo Dough, and Seared Arctic Char Filet. Prices range from $35 to $59.99 per adult. Guests are asked to adhere to the dress code.

The Coral Reef Restaurant is located within Epcot. This tropical restaurant offers spectacular views of a living coral reef and ocean-fresh specialties. Guests can enjoy crispy calamari, sautéed shrimp and grits, oven-roasted chicken breast, and pan-seared salmon. Desserts include turtle cheesecake with caramel and The Chocolate Wave. Prices range from $15 to $34.99 per adult.

Narcoossee's is located in Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. This casual waterfront setting offers fresh seafood and steak with panoramic view of the lagoon. Couples can enjoy a surf-and-turf dish that features sirloin steak and a lobster tail. Guests are asked to adhere to a business casual dress code. Prices range from $35 to $59.99 per adult.

Citricos is located in Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. Couples can dine on American cuisine infused with Mediterranean flavors, such as scallop risotto, quinoa and provençale ratatouille, and oak-grilled filet of beef. Guests can also browse their award-winning, international wine list. Guests are asked to adhere to the minimum dress code requirements. Prices range from $35 to $59.99 per adult.

Every Disney World theme park and resort offers multiples dining experiences, including quick service restaurants, lounges, table service and character dining. Disney World Honeymoon Experiences

The Disney World Resort offers several romantic experiences that the newlyweds can enjoy. Some of these experiences include floral arrangements, in-room toast, carriage rides, horseback trail rides, surrey bike rentals, specialty cruises, and resort spa services.

Floral Arrangement

Couples can purchase beautiful and unique floral arrangements for their hotel room. Disney Florist Dream Makers offers a variety of floral options, including bud vases, dozen long-stemmed velvet roses or even villainous floral creations! Floral arrangements start around $40 for a simple arrangement and can cost up to $375 for the Wish Come True package, which includes a dozen roses, scattered silk rose petals, candles, champagne, chocolates, and an exclusively designed glass slipper featuring a specialty charm.

Toast to a Happily Ever After

The happy couple can enjoy a toast with Mickey-etched glasses and sip sparkling juice while they dine on a collection of decadent cheese, chocolate and crackers. Carriage Rides

Horseback Trail Rides

Surrey Bike Rental

Couples will enjoy pedaling and picnicking along the scenic paths and trails in tandem with each other. This is a charming break from the excitement of the parks!   Surrey bikes and individual bikes  can be rented at the following locations:

Disney offers couple the option of creating a honeymoon registry service through Honeymoon Wishes. Couples who plan on taking a honeymoon at a Disney Destination can create a registry and friends and family can help grant them their Disney honeymoon wish. The couple can add specific items to their registry, such as park tickets, accommodations, carriage rides, floral arrangements, specific restaurants, luaus, dinner packages, etc. Another option is Fantasy Funds where the couple can use the money toward anything on their trip. When 9-1-1 co-creator Tim Minear signed up on Twitter (now known as X), he chose a telling handle to denote his legacy as a screenwriter and director: @Cancelledagain. “I was sort of infamous for all of my thundering failures over the years,” explains Minear. “ Firefly lasted one season, Terriers one season, The Inside one season, Drive went for six episodes. Everything was canceled, so I just called myself ‘cancelled again,’ which actually worked out for me because these are all beloved little cult shows now.”

Since the series debut on Jan. 3, 2018, the procedural drama about L.A. first responders starring Angela Bassett and Peter Krause has built a reputation for taking natural catastrophes and emergency scenarios to the next level. “I can’t name another show on television that has tackled tsunamis, earthquakes, blackouts, a blimp stadium crash, a train derailment, a Hollywood dam collapse and landslide, sharks on a freeway, escaped zoo animals, an airplane crash into the ocean, a guy falling off a roller coaster, a bus crash into a side of a building, a fire truck hanging off a cliff, and now, in your season opener, a honeymoon cruise disaster complete with pirates, explosions and a capsized ship — spanning three episodes,” Karey Burke, president of 20th Television, said March 5 at 9-1-1 ’s 100th episode celebration that took place in between filming at the Bel-Air Bay Club. 

It’s the believability of the characters in these stories and the visual execution of cataclysmic disasters — a testament to the creators’ philosophy of using practical effects as much as possible — that made 9-1-1 ripe for pickup when Fox failed to renew it in May after six seasons. The decision was reported to be financial, as the show remained the network’s most watched series overall and top-rated scripted series with adults 18-49 until the end. This was what Murphy set out to achieve when he first pitched the series — which draws inspiration from the 1970s NBC medical drama Emergency! — to then Fox executive and now Disney entertainment co-chairman Dana Walden. “Ryan really wanted to give her a network hit. He’s literally the only showrunner or creator that I know who can go, ‘You know what, I think it’s time to create a hit for Dana for Fox’ and do it,” says Minear.

The March 14 season seven premiere, a nod to The Poseidon Adventure , brought in 4.93 million viewers, up from season six’s 4.8 million. After three days of viewing across ABC, Hulu and other Disney digital platforms, the episode garnered a total of 8.85 million viewers, setting a streaming record for Disney.

Having cemented audiences’ interest with the high-stakes cruise ship fiasco as the season opener, Minear chose to focus on the other element of 9-1-1 that makes it a win among viewers for its 100th episode, which was directed by Lone Star ’s Chad Lowe: its cast. The story will center on the LAFD crew at Station 118 who rescues a woman intent on receiving a rose at an iconic mansion. “After doing a giant three-episode arc of a disaster for the first three episodes, when I got to episode 100, it was important that it be a regular episode,” says Minear. “You just need to say, this is what the show is. It’s character stories.”

That’s what’s made portraying LAPD patrol sergeant Athena Grant-Nash for seven seasons most rewarding for Bassett. It’s the longest role she’s ever played. “It’s very interesting to have a character that’s so beloved keep finding stories to tell, important stories to tell, and fun stories to tell,” she says. 

“I enjoy the idea of blended family and exploring the changing dynamics between a husband and wife, and divorce,” Bassett adds. “I think that’s important because when people grow apart, families don’t have to break up, even after so much trauma.”

The close friendship between “Thena” and “Hen” (Aisha Hinds’ Henrietta Wilson), an openly gay firefighter paramedic — they bond over being Black women in white, male-dominated fields — is adored by viewers. “These are people who get misunderstood themselves,” says Bassett. “The most important thing I wanted people to see in portraying a Black female police officer is the compassion and the understanding that the job says that we are here to protect and to serve.”

The bromance between Evan Buckley (Oliver Stark) and Eddie Diaz (Ryan Guzman), known as “Buddie,” is another fan favorite. Audiences have been trying to ship the duo since they first met in the season two premiere, with Minear jokingly adding fuel to the fire in the 2019 midseason finale when he allowed the pair to be mistaken for a couple. But it’s the story arc of Jennifer Love Hewitt’s Maddie Buckley, a trained nurse who works as a 9-1-1 operator, that he’s most enjoyed carrying out onscreen.

These storylines, Minear says, are what ultimately has led 9-1-1 to 100 episodes and counting. “It’s characters that you want in your living room, a found family of heroes, people that run toward danger,” he says. “We’re coming off of this incredible age of Breaking Bad and The Shield and these kind of morally compromised heroes, but there’s nothing morally compromised about our heroes. They are heroes. They are there to save you, whether they like you or not.”
