  • Return to Jorrvaskr

Walkthrough

After returning to Farkas to complete Hired Muscle , Farkas tells you that Skjor is looking for you. Find Skjor in the main common area of Jorrvaskr to find out what he needs. Skjor has deemed the task of finding the great weapon Wuuthrad worthy enough to be your Trial. With Farkas designated as your Shield-Sibling (which hereby replaces any Follower you may already have in tow), you must speak to Farkas again and pick his brain on a number of subjects. Let him know you will meet him at Dustman's Cairn to give you some preparation time for this journey.

Dustman's Cairn teems with the undead, though the brawny Farkas can certainly lend more than just an extra body -- he is rather adept at killing the draugrs himself. Read the tome entitled The Battle of Sancre Tor on the table for an increase in Two-handed weapon skill .

Deeper in, you reach a room bigger than the rest - one with an Arcane Enchanter and seemingly no exit. Head into a niche filled with potions and pull the lever. This closes the gate on you and traps you inside. Farkas unleashes his secret power to defend himself against the ambush. After being freed, proceed along the dusty corridors to the Dustman's Crypt. On the way, you will have plenty more Silver Hand humans to eliminate.

skyrim jorrvaskr fast travel

Once in the crypt, though, most of the enemies you encounter are of the undead type. Push through the sporadic undead appearances until you're stopped by a door that absolutely requires a key. Search the chest in the same room for Dustman's Cairn Key.

skyrim jorrvaskr fast travel

A change of enemies: Skeevers start to make frequent appearances and you'll even have to squash some Frostbite Spiders . Put down a few more draugrs and head into a room that differs from the rest of the ones you've visited thus far, in that this one features the Fragment of Wuuthrad you've been seeking. As well, head to the back for another World Wall to learn another Shout : Fire, Fire Breath .

The coffins around the room begin to stir and out comes draugrs , one after another. Put down these draugrs for a while for extra xp and then leave via the side passage, which skips the arduous task of backtracking and deposits you right by the exit.

skyrim jorrvaskr fast travel

Fast travel (if you want) back to Whiterun and approach the steps of Jorrvaskr on which Vilkas already stands. Vilkas takes you around the back to complete the Companion induction ceremony. Before you part ways with Kodlak, he tells you to visit Eorlund for a Skyforge Steel weapon of your choice.

At this point, a great number of Companion-related quests open up. You can now speak to other Companion leaders for more work, but you can only have one active at a time.

Jorrvaskr is a Location in Elder Scrolls V Skyrim.

Jorrvaskr is the headquarters of the mercenary guild known as The Companions. This loose association of private soldiers has for many generations lived, trained and celebrated in this historic structure composed primarily of an up-ended warship. It is located in the city of Whiterun in central Skyrim, by an ancient construct known as the Skyforge.

Jorrvaskr can be described in simplest terms as a mead-hall, although it is generally reserved to the membership of the Companions and those most closely associated with them.

Jorrvaskr Quests

  • Companions Questline

Jorrvaskr Characters

  • Aela the Huntress
  • Eorlund Gray-Mane
  • Kodlak Whitemane
  • Njada Stonearm
  • Tilma the Haggard
  • Vignar Gray-Mane

Points of interest

  • Jorrvaskr Living Quarters
  • Skill Book (Archery) – The Marksmanship Lesson, in a locked case (Expert) in Aela's room.
  • An Elven Bow is also in the locked case (Expert) that the Book The Marksmanship Lesson is found in.
  • Skill Book (Two-Handed) : The Song of Hrormir – found in the Living Quarters on a table holding the map.
  • Skill Book (Heavy Armor): Hallgerd's Tale – found in the Main Hall.
  • An Unusual Gem in the Living Quarters in Kodlak's room. If taken, it counts as a crime and makes the Companions pursue the Dragonborn wanting him to pay 500 GoldIcon. This gem is necessary for the completion of the quest No
  • Stone Unturned. Waiting until the end of Glory of the Dead, when the Dragonborn becomes the new Harbinger, lifts the "steal" tag from most of the items in Jorrvaskr, so the gem can then be taken without consequence.
  • A Daedra Heart on a plate in the Living Quarters in Kodlak's room. This Daedra Heart will respawn every so often, proving useful for the crafting of Daedric armor and weapons.
  • At the south end of the south central room in the living quarters (the first room entered when descending the stairs from Jorrvaskr itself into the living quarters) is a green book titled An Explorer's Guide to Skyrim. Reading this will cause the map to be updated.

Jorrvaskr Maps

  • On the wall to the left just before the living quarters are four shards of Wuuthrad on a display.
  • The name "Jorrvaskr" comes from Old Norse and roughly translates to "Swords & Bravery."confirmation needed
  • When inside the Great Hall, an Ebony Greatsword, Dwarven Greatsword, Glass Warhammer, and an Elven Sword can be seen, however these objects are unable to be taken.
  • The locked display cabinets in the master bedroom reset after a certain period of time, since they are all expert locks, they are a great way to level up Lockpicking early on.
  • Jorrvaskr is one of three faction headquarters that does not have a "fast travel" option on the world map, the others being Castle Dour of the Imperial Legion, and the Bards College. The other faction headquarters are Thieves Guild, College of Winterhold, Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary, Sky Haven Temple, and the Palace of the Kings.
  • When inside Jorrvaskr, it's possible to transform into a werewolf without being pursued by the guards. This is mainly due to the fact that the members of the Circle are werewolves as well.
  • In Kodlak's room, there is a display case on top of the bookshelf on the right. It can opened but it's impossible to see what, if anything, is inside of it.

Elder Scrolls

Fast Travel (Skyrim)

  • Edit source
  • View history

Fast Travel is a method of travel in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim . It is a way of quickly "teleporting" to any previously discovered location . The travel takes place almost instantaneously in real-world time through a loading screen , but in game time will still pass by as if the Dragonborn had walked there. When using fast travel, the time elapsed may be longer than the time it would have taken to run to the destination, especially when the distance is short.

Fast Travel can be done via the world map or by using one of the carriages stationed near the main gate of many cities. Fast travel via world map is free, but can only be done to a location that has already been discovered. Travel via carriage is limited to major cities, regardless if they have been visited or not before, with a fee relative to distance and the size of the destination city (for example it costs more to travel from Whiterun to Dawnstar than from Windhelm to Solitude even though the distance between Windhelm and Solitude is greater). The Hearthfire DLC allows the Dragonborn to hire a carriage for their homestead , which will also go to smaller cities  and towns ( Darkwater Crossing , Dragon Bridge , Ivarstead , Karthwasten ,  Kynesgrove , Old Hroldan Inn , Riverwood , Rorikstead , Shor's Stone , and Stonehills ).

With Dawnguard , fast travel can also be done between Castle Volkihar and the main island of Skyrim by boat. With Dragonborn , the initial trip to Solstheim must be by boat. (Conventional fast travel can be used later, between the docks at Windhelm and Raven Rock .)

  • 1 Conditions
  • 2 Fast travel time

Conditions [ ]

The fast travel cannot be done while in any of the following conditions:

  • While indoors
  • While jumping
  • While falling
  • While mounting or dismounting a horse .
  • While being too close to enemies
  • While being pursued by enemies/ Hold Guards
  • While taking health damage (e.g. from poison )
  • Riding on horseback.
  • Under the effect of a Fortify Carry Weight potion that is strong enough. There is no limit on fast travel distance while the potion is in effect. However, the effect of the potion immediately wears off after the arrival causing the Dragonborn to be overburdened again.

Fast travel time [ ]

Approximate time to travel between cities/towns wearing Light Armor , measured by in-game hours:

  • The amount and type of armor worn affects how much time passes during fast travel.
  • Fast traveling while on foot or on horseback takes the same amount of time. The only difference will be how the Dragonborn arrives: on foot next to the horse, or on horseback.
  • Any positive or negative effects (such as from a disease ) will still progress during fast travel.
  • Neither the Dragonborn, their horse, or any companion will encounter any enemies during fast travel.
  • Due to the respawning of enemies , dragons and creatures being scripted to happen when fast travelling; if fast travel is never used, after a certain time, encounters with them will reduce noticeably.
  •  PC     360     PS3    When arriving at a location by fast travel, random creatures can spawn in front of the Dragonborn. For example, a non-hostile bandit might spawn every time they fast-travel, who can be talked to but will become hostile if attacked. A similar bug happens when fast-traveling to Falkreath , causing all of the Hold Guards to spawn at the entrance to the city.
  •  PC    Fast traveling with followers to northern cities like Windhelm or the College of Winterhold can trigger a sliding effect on arrival. Normally, this effect is not critical; however, it is possible to sometimes slide for a very long distance and fall from a cliff.
  •  360    After waiting in a location for a long time (two or three weeks), or if multiple other characters have been played before returning to play as the affected character, fast traveling to a location might spawn enemies that have made into thralls (or raised as zombies) in the past. They will attack each other unless they are in the same faction. (Only bandits or spiders, for example).
  •  360     PS3    If fast travel is selected to any location and the back button is immediately pressed, the fast travel will not occur, the game will no longer be paused and the character menu will not be able to be opened. The pause menu can be opened, but saving the game will be the only option that functions, not loading an existing save. The "quit game" option is available, however, allowing a more time consuming reload of the game by saving and exiting the game. Reloading the game will fix this.
  •  360 (Fix)     PS3 (Fix)    Manually shut down the console, as any attempt to open the Xbox or PS3 menu will result in the loading circles on every option and they will never load.
  •  PC     360    Fast traveling on horseback to the College of Winterhold may cause one to appear several feet above the bridge.
  •  PC (Fix)    Quickly Fast traveling to another place before the horse falls off may solve the problem.
  •  PC     360     PS3    Sometimes, when attempting to fast travel, the game will say "You cannot fast travel while guards are pursuing you," even if guards are not pursuing the Dragonborn.
  •  360     PS4    Fast traveling from a snowy location can sometimes cause it to snow in areas that do not normally experience snowy weather conditions.
  •  PC (Fix)    Fast traveling to any location will fix this.
  •  PC (Fix)    Exiting the game to the desktop restarting will fix this.
  • By opening the Journal and pressing the "show on map" button for quest objectives it is possible to access the map, and thus fast travel even under circumstances that normally prevent access to the map, such as after the Dragonborn dies or at the beginning of the game while Helgen is under attack.

Lore:Jorrvaskr

skyrim jorrvaskr fast travel

Jorrvaskr is an ancient mead hall in the Skyrim city of Whiterun . The longhouse was originally constructed from the hull of the Jorrvaskr , one of the longships used by the Five Hundred Companions to cross the Sea of Ghosts from Atmora . The ship's band decided to settle at the site of the ancient Skyforge , and the city of Whiterun subsequently grew around the mead hall. [1] [2] :155

  • 4 References

History [ edit ]

Following the retaking of Saarthal , the Five Hundred Companions of Ysgramor parted ways, with the band of each ship setting out to conquer all of Skyrim (then known as Mereth) from the Snow Elves who inhabited it. The first group to set out were the crew of Jorrvaskr , who arrived on the plains of Whiterun Hold. The scout Jonder the Tiny was the first to sight the great bird statue of the Skyforge, but the Nords were wary as the entirety of the Whiterun plains were uninhabited by elves. The band's elven captives looked at the statue with fear and claimed that it predated the elven habitation of Skyrim. [1] The twenty-two members of the Jorrvaskr crew desired to possess the statue due to the elves' fear of it, and so they founded the mead hall of Jorrvaskr, built from the wooden hull of their ship at the foot of the Skyforge. [1]

In time, the city of Whiterun grew around the mead hall, and its founders became the modern mercenary band known as the Companions . [3]

Following Kyrnil Long-Nose 's founding of the Circle in the late Second Era , [4] the upper ranks of the Companions became infected with lycanthropy after the Harbinger Terrfyg made a bargain with the witches of the Glenmoril Coven . [5] Circa 4E 201 , a gang of werewolf hunters known as the Silver Hand attacked Jorrvaskr, killing the Harbinger Kodlak Whitemane and stealing the Companions' treasured fragments of the legendary battleaxe Wuuthrad . [6] The surviving Companions then exacted their revenge upon the hunters and reclaimed the fragments of Wuuthrad, allowing the smith Eorlund Gray-Mane to reforge the ancient weapon. [7]

Skyrim – How to Fast Travel Between Towns, Cities, and More

Image of Chris Jecks

How to Fast Travel – Skyrim

Fast travelling is going to be your best friend in Skyrim. The world is massive, and you’ll be juggling a ton of quests constantly sending you to each corner of it. To make sure you don’t waste your life running around the map, here’s how to fast travel and save yourself a lot of headaches.

First, you’ll need to make sure you’re outside. You won’t be able to fast travel inside a cave, building, or other structure. Next, make sure you aren’t in combat and that there aren’t any enemies nearby. You won’t be able to fast travel unless you’re safe. And last up on the warnings list, you cannot fast travel if you’re overburdened, or carrying more in item weight than the max capacity your stamina affords you.

Then, pull out your map. Hit Circle on PlayStation and B on Xbox to bring up your menu, then hit the down button to head to your map. Move your cursor over a landmark you’ve visited at least once before, be it a city, a cave, or other notable location. Select this, and choose to fast travel there at the prompt. You’ll then find yourself magically teleported to your desired spot.

skyrim jorrvaskr fast travel

I just started on my first mission with the companions and every time I go into Jorrvaskr, Farkas will take out his sword and start talking to me. I can' help it and everytime I leave him, he'll just follow me until he catches up to me and he'll start talking to me again. And I've noticed since that started happening, Everytime I try to fast travel it gives my that message that's in my heading. It doesn't matter how far I run, the message will still appear at the top of my screen.

Hi Levi, Can you elaborate on what you mean by First Quest? Have you completed 'Take Up Arms'? Are you now on a radiant quest (Trouble in Skyrim / Animal Extermination / Hired Muscle / Family Heirloom / Escaped Criminal / Rescue Mission) or are you on the quest 'Proving your Honor'? There don't seem to be any listed bugs on the UESPWiki relating to what you're describing, but I haven't checked the Discussions pages for those Companions quests.

Gehenna

Dazed & Confused

Removing Farkas and Vilkas from the guard faction might be something good to implement in the "fix" mod I'm working on. As for dealing with your current issue, I wonder if you could handle it the same way you can in Oblivion. I don't know if it works because it's a different issue that causes it in Oblivion, but you could try deliberately causing yourself to get a bounty - go punch a guard or steal something and make sure you're seen - and then pay it off. In Oblivion you'd get stuck with monsters chasing you sometimes and it would disable fast travel. If you paid a bounty it would place you outside the jail and the monsters attached to you would spawn with you. You could then take them out (usually with the guards helping too) and thereby clear the problem. The only other suggestion I have is to look for a console cheat to remove those two from the guard faction.

Levi I am having the same problem though i just started the companion quests I've completed plenty of others and I can not figure out anyway to fast travel while he's following

I figured out that it was because I had a bounty in a couple of cities. But when I got rid of all of those bounties, it still said that guards were pursuing me.

JUST had that problem. I went back to Whiterun on the carriage from a stable and Vilkas was wandering around outside when I got there. I talked to him and exited the conversation, then he just casually walked away and I could fast travel again.

Silence, My Brother

I had this problem the last time I played on my PC after I killed the homeless guy in Ivarstead..I fled down the waterfall and followed the current, miles away and it still said it. I ended up suiciding my character to fix it

xGooGx

i also had this problem.. just use the paycrimegold thing, it worked for me. if u dont know what i mean, then go to a guard, open your console, click his head with your mouse and after you see something like "(0003hdS3)" type in "paycrimegold" You'll still have your stolen items

In Oblivion you'd get stuck with monsters chasing you sometimes and it would disable fast travel.
