2023 LEGENDS TOUR: BIGGER PRIZE FUNDS WITH NEW VENUES IN SCOTLAND AND IRELAND

  • Golfing World

european legends tour 2023 schedule

The Legends Tour will continue to build on its star quality with a global 2023 schedule which features exciting debuts for two stunning links venues, in Scotland and in Ireland, and increased prize funds across the board for many of the game’s most decorated players.

The 2023 season will feature at least 18 tournaments with a record-breaking prize fund – with final numbers set to be released shortly – which will be a significant increase on the 2022 campaign.

Among the exciting developments for 2023 is the news that the spectacular Trump International Golf Links Aberdeen will host the Tour for the first time when the Staysure PGA Seniors Championship is played from August 24-27.

The Scottish venue is joined on the schedule by another breath-taking links newcomer, with Seapoint Golf Links – a rising star in the ranks of Irish links courses and located on the East coast, just an hour north of Dublin – set to host a major international professional event for the first time from June 23-25 when the Irish Legends comes to town.

The JCB Championship will return from August 3-5 after a glorious debut in 2022, when a host of superstars including Ernie Els, Retief Goosen, Darren Clarke and Paul Lawrie descended upon the spectacular Uttoxeter venue, with Germany’s Alex Cejka finishing two shots clear of Ireland’s Paul McGinley to lift the title.

Among the other returning highlights on the new-look schedule are July’s Swiss Seniors Open at Golf Club Bad Ragaz, the WINSTONgolf Senior Open in Germany in September, the Italian Senior Open in October and November’s Farmfoods European Senior Masters in Spain.

A new English event, the Legends Players Championship, will be held for the first time in 2023, joining the JCB Championship and the Jersey Legends in a triumvirate of confirmed England-based tournaments.

Major glory may be on the cards for the biggest stars of the Legends Tour, with the Senior Open Championship Presented by Rolex visiting Royal Porthcawl Golf Club in 2023, while the KitchenAid US PGA Senior Championship will be played at PGA Frisco, Texas and the US Senior Open will take place at Wisconsin’s SentryWorld Golf Course.

The Tour will once again close with the MCB Tour Championship Mauritius, which has provided a fitting finale to the popular competition for more than a decade. At the 2022 edition of the event, staged in December, South African James Kingston lifted the John Jacobs Trophy as the Order of Merit leader despite an impressive display by tournament winner Thomas Bjørn.

Many golfers hoping to make their mark on the Legends Tour in 2023 will have to first prove themselves at the Tour’s Qualifying School this month, which returns for the first time in three years. The venue for the high-stakes event will be Gloria Golf Resort in Belek, Turkey, where players will battle it out to earn one of five spots on the Tour.

Phil Harrison, Legends Tour CEO, said: “Since rebranding as the Legends Tour in 2020, our central ambition has been to keep growing, and this 2023 schedule is another incredibly exciting step forward in the evolution of our Tour.

“We have some stunning new venues to add to the long list of world-class golf courses which we visit on an annual basis. We are thrilled that, for the first time, our players will compete on two spectacular links venues in Trump International and Seapoint, while the addition of the English Masters means another big event for the famously passionate British golf fans.

“We extend our thanks to all of our host venues, sponsors and partners for being part of this journey and we look forward to welcoming them back in 2023 for what is set to be an exhilarating season for our players, our celebrities and our fans.”

The Legends Tour is the brainchild of entrepreneur Ryan Howsam, who bought a majority stake in the then-named European Senior Tour and set about rebranding the Tour in 2020. A prestigious competition featuring some of golf’s finest players aged 50 and over, the reimagined Legends Tour became a fan favourite and promises to be better than ever in 2023.

Legends Tour hits new landmark with biggest schedule and record €18million prizepool

The legends tour has unveiled plans for a record-breaking 2024 season, headlined by its busiest schedule to date – including nine new events – and an eye-watering €18million prize pool..

Running from April to December, this year’s globetrotting schedule will feature 20 events – featuring new tournaments set to debut in Barbados, Kenya, Mexico, Spain, the UK and Zambia, with even more additions still to be announced.

They join Legends Tour staples such as the flagship Staysure PGA Seniors Championship – which will return to Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeen following the success of last year’s event – and the Irish Legends at Seapoint Golf Links.

Many of the Legends Tour’s brightest stars will be eyeing up Major victory in 2024 at the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship at Harbor Shores Golf Club, the US Senior Open at Newport Country Club and The Senior Open presented by Rolex at Carnoustie Golf Links.

The season will culminate with the MCB Tour Championship Mauritius at Constance Belle Mare Plage, where qualifying players will contest for the John Jacobs Trophy, which was won in 2023 by former Ryder Cup player Peter Baker.

As well as the tournament silverware, some of golf’s biggest names will also be competing for the largest prize pool in Legends Tour history. The €18million (more than €8.6million of which will be assigned outside of the Majors of senior men’s golf – the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship, the US Senior Open and The Senior Open presented by Rolex) represents a 100 per cent increase since the tour returned to a full schedule in 2022 following the covid pandemic, with $2million to play for in the final two events on the Road to Mauritius and a bonus pool of $100,000 for the top five players in the final standings.

Complementing the drama of the professional events will be the unique Celebrity Pro-Am, which sees stars from the world of sport and entertainment competing to raise money and awareness for their chosen charities. Meanwhile, passionate amateurs can tee off alongside their heroes in the Legends Experience, the tour’s one-of-a-kind pro-am experience.

The announcement suggests the global growth of the Legends Tour – which hit new heights in 2023 – is set to continue. At the end of the season, the brand announced record figures for amateur participation, spectators and social media engagement, with the latter taking total reach across all channels to over 100million people for the first time.

In November, the inaugural Vinpearl DIC Legends Vietnam – the competition’s first foray into Vietnam – embodied the expansion into new markets, including Asia, Africa, the Caribbean and Central America, that has characterised the Legends Tour’s first three years.

Phil Harrison, CEO of the Legends Tour, said: “We have been working hard behind the scenes, and 2024 promises to be another incredible year for the Legends Tour.

“Securing new events in some truly spectacular venues around the world is always a key objective of ours, and we are thrilled with the additions to the schedule for this season, as well as the prestigious venues we are honoured to return to.

“Everything – from the standard of competition to the number of amateurs getting involved – has been growing year on year, and this year will be no exception. We cannot wait to see it all unfold.”

Oasis announces reunion tour in 2025: ‘This is happening'

The band will play 14 dates in wales, england, scotland and ireland next july and august, with plans underway for dates on "other continents outside of europe later next year.", by danica kirka and maria sherman | the associated press • published august 27, 2024 • updated on august 27, 2024 at 7:55 am.

Oasis, the Britpop band known for timeless hits like “Wonderwall” and “Don’t Look Back in Anger,” is reuniting for a tour of the British Isles next summer, ending a 15-year hiatus and, presumably, the long-held feudbetween brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher.

The guitar band will play 14 dates in Wales, England, Scotland and Ireland next July and August, Oasis said on Tuesday. Tickets go on sale at 9 a.m. Saturday ( 4 a.m ET) on Ticketmaster .co.uk , gigsandtours.com and Ticketmaster.ie

“This is it. This is happening,″ the band said.

In a press release, the band said plans were underway for dates on "other continents outside of Europe later next year."

Oasis split in 2009 after many years of infighting, with Noel Gallagher officially leaving the band just before a performance at a festival near Paris. Even before the dissolution, the brothers had long had an antagonistic relationship and reportedly did not speak to each other for years after the breakup.

“People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer,” Noel Gallagher, the band's guitarist and songwriter, wrote in a statement at the time.

While the Gallagher brothers haven’t performed together since, both regularly perform Oasis songs at their solo gigs. They've also each fired off criticisms of the other in the press.

Noel Gallagher accused his younger brother of having a hangover that forced them to cancel a 2009 concert. The frontman disputed the accusation and sued, later dropping the lawsuit.

But now the brothers are preparing to reunite, with the band saying fans would experience “the spark and intensity” that occurs only when they appear on stage together.

The tour will begin July 4 and 5 at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. Oasis will also perform at Heaton Park in Manchester, England, on July 11, 12, 19 and 20; Wembley Stadium in London on July 25 and 26 and Aug. 2 and 3; Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh on Aug. 8 and 9; and Croke Park in Dublin on Aug. 16 and 17.

The band alluded to past tensions in the tour announcement.

“The guns have fallen silent,” Oasis said. “The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised.”

In 2011, Noel Gallagher told The Associated Press in an interview that he left the band after an incident where Liam Gallagher started wielding a guitar “like an axe ... and he’s swinging this guitar around and he kind of you know, he took my face off with it, you know?”

In 2019, Liam Gallagher told the AP he was ready to reconcile.

“The most important thing is about me and him being brothers,” he said. “He thinks I’m desperate to get the band back together for money. But I didn’t join the band to make money. I joined the band to have fun and to see the world.”

“I don’t know what his problem is,” he continued. “I think he just wanted to go away and do his solo career, get all the coin and be surrounded by all the yes men you can fire and hire whenever he wants. You can’t do that with me.”

With the announcement, the Britpop progenitors ended a few days of fan speculation. A short video on the band’s social media accounts Sunday night had revealed the date “27.08.24,” and time “8 a.m.,” written in the same font as the well-known Oasis logo. The brothers shared the same to their individual accounts.

Of course, fans have long theorized a reunion might be on the horizon: In the wake of the 2017 bombing that killed 22 at an Ariana Grande concert in Oasis' hometown of Manchester, Liam Gallagher performed at a benefit concert that fueled speculation of a reunion. He criticized his brother's absence, but a spokesperson said Noel Gallagher couldn't attend because of a longstanding family trip. Benefit organizers said Noel Gallagher approved the use of Oasis' music and donated royalties from “Don’t Look Back In Anger” to the British Red Cross’ One Love Manchester fund.

Later that year, Liam Gallagher tweeted at his brother, leading some to believe they made up: “I wanna say Happy Xmas to team NG it’s been a great year thanks for everything looking forward to seeing you tomorrow AS YOU WERE LG x”

Prior to Tuesday's announcement, Oasis was already teed up to release a new collection, “Definitely Maybe - Deluxe 30th Anniversary Editions,” celebrating the anniversary of their debut album.

Rumors of a potential reunion were amplified this past weekend when Liam Gallagher responded on social media to unconfirmed reports of the band playing London's Wembley Stadium and Manchester’s Heaton Park. When one social media user criticized Heaton Park, the Manchester native wrote, “See you down the front,” calling the user a vulgarity. In another stand-alone post on X, he teased, “I never did like that word FORMER.”

“You tell me man,” Liam Gallagher replied. He also responded to several negative tweets about the potential reunion with “Your attitude sucks” and “SHUTUP.” Noel Gallagher, on the other hand, remained silent other than posting the teasers.

AP Music Writer Maria Sherman reported from New York.

Ticket prices for the Trans-Siberian Railway also depend on the current ruble exchange rate.

Is the Trans-Siberian Railway expensive?

Before starting on your Trans-Siberian Railway adventure you naturally want to know what the entire trip will cost. Although this sounds like a simple question, it is pretty difficult to answer. The Trans-Siberian Railway price of travel depends on the following factors:

  • Which travel class do I want to use? The price for a first class ticket is about three times the price of a 3rd class ticket
  • Am I willing to buy the tickets myself and assume responsibility for the organisation of the trip?
  • How many stopovers do I want to make? The more breaks, the higher the total price.
  • What sort of accommodation do I want? Will it be a luxury hotel or will a hostel dormitory be sufficient?
  • What tours and excursions would I like to go on?
  • What is the current exchange rate for rubles?

Basically, everything from a luxury to a budget holiday is available. If you buy yourself a 3rd Class nonstop ticket at the counter, a few hundred Euros will cover the price. All you will experience is a week on the Trans-Siberian train and will see nothing of the cities on the way. There is, however, any amount of room for upward expansion. Everyone makes different choices about which aspects they are willing to spend money on. I personally prefer to save money on accommodation and railcar class, visit as many cities and do as many trips as possible. To enable better classification of your travel expenses I have contrasted two typical traveler types. In the third column you can calculate the total cost of your own journey on the Trans-Siberian Railway. Please keep in mind that these are only rough estimations and not exact prices.

The all-in costs seem fairly high at first. However, they cover everything and it is quite a long journey taking four weeks. Many people forget to consider that when looking at the list. We should also deduct the running costs for food and leisure at home. I think most visitors to this page will classify themselves somewhere between the two categories, that is around the € 2,000 – € 2,500 range. When comparing these prices with other travel packages, you get the impression that it is hardly worthwhile travelling individually on the Trans-Siberian Railway. Please keep in mind that most packages last no more than 14 days and you are herded like cattle through the most beautiful locations.

If you spend less time on the Trans-Siberian Railway you will, of course, pay less. I chose this particular travel length because I prefer not to do things by halves. If you fulfill your dream of travelling on the Trans-Siberian Railway, enjoy it and don’t rush things. But it’s up to you, of course. Try playing around with the form a bit to find the appropriate price for your trip.

Oasis reunion tour 2025: Everything we know on tickets, dates and prices

A fter weeks of rumours and speculation, the nation breathed a collective sigh of relief this morning, as Liam and Noel Gallagher announced the return of Oasis and confirmed a huge world tour .

Officially announced this morning , the brothers announced they will reform for a string of shows in July 2025. Beginning in Cardiff, the brothers will also play four nights in Heaton Park as well as four shows at London’s Wembley Stadium.

The reunion tour will also include dates in Edinburgh and Dublin, with tickets set to go on sale this Saturday (August 31) and are expected to be one of the some most in-demand shows in UK music history. Plans are also underway to play outside of Europe later next year.

READ MORE: Where to buy Oasis tickets for reunion tour 2025 online as UK and Ireland dates announced

Confirming the news, Oasis said: “The guns have fallen silent, The stars have aligned. The great weight is over. Come see. It will not be televised.”

It will be the first time the brothers have shared a stage in 16 years, after Noel's departure from the band signalled the end for the Manchester Britpop outfit back in 2009.

Known for their hits Wonderwall, Supersonic and She’s Electric, the band sensationally split in 2009 after 18 years following backstage at the Rock en Seine Festival in Paris. Shortly afterwards Noel announced the split on the band's website, saying he couldn't continue working with Liam.

In the years since, Liam and Noel have traded bitter insults back and forth in interviews and on social media, each taking turns to deny a reunion was ever possible. However, in recent years, relations have turned warmer, and in 2023, Liam reached out to his brother over social media, while Noel sang his brother's praises in an interview last week at legendary Manchester record store Sifters.

The announcement also comes 30 years after their debut album Definitely Maybe was released. This Friday will also see the release of the Deluxe 30th Anniversary Edition of ‘Definitely Maybe’, which is available to pre-order here .

With tickets expected to be very hard to snap up, fans are beginning to receive advice to help speed up the ordering process on Saturday morning. This advice includes signing up to the official ticket agents ahead of time as the websites will be very busy during the official on sale times.

Below we've rounded all of the essential Oasis information, from gig dates and age restrictions, to potential support acts and the setlist. We've also detailed how to get tickets and how much they might set you back if you're joining the queue on Saturday.

When do tickets go on sale?

Tickets for the UK dates go on sale from 9am on Saturday, August 31. Details of a pre-sale have not yet been announced.

Is there a presale?

Yes. A presale will be held on Friday, August 30. To take part fans have to register by a ballot, which now closes at 10am tomorrow morning (August 30). You can register for the presale here .

Successful applicants will receive an email with full access on Friday before 5pm. Success in the ballot will not guarantee tickets and tickets will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

How many tickets can I buy?

Who could support Oasis on their 2025 reunion tour?

Whilst perhaps a little further down in terms of immediate questions, one thing people are now wondering is who will be joining Oasis on these ‘biblical’ shows?

No support artists have had their involvement confirmed yet - and it might even be a while before we get any official word on who, if any, will be warming up the crowds but we've speculated who might join them on the bill here .

What songs will be on the Oasis 2025 tour setlist?

Thousands of fans will be clamouring to get tickets when they go on sale on Saturday morning, and those lucky enough to secure them have been promised a set of "wall-to-wall classics" and a live performance "unlike anything else".

Oasis racked up 22 consecutive UK top 10 hits between 1994 and 2008, and played hundreds of live shows between their formation in 1991 and August 2009, when they played their last gig just a few days before the break up. Together, they toured all seven of their studio albums across the world and headlined countless festivals.

While the setlist for the new tour will likely stay under wraps until the band take to the stage at Cardiff's Principality Stadium on July 4, we've taken a look at some of the potential songs that could make the cut here .

Potential Oasis lineup?

Whilst the brothers are always at the front and centre of the Britpop legends, Oasis has always included other members - both on tour and on record. No details on who will be joining the Gallagher’s on tour has been announced yet, but there are certainly some names that fans will be keen to see take to the stage during the reunion shows. We've taken a look at some of the contenders here .

Will Oasis play Glastonbury in 2025?

And last but not least, could Oasis headline Worthy Farm next year ? The short answer: probably not.

With Glastonbury taking place on June 25 to June 29, right before the world tour is set to start, speculation has been rife that Oasis could kick things off with a headline slot on the Pyramid Stage.

However, a trip to Worthy Farm looks unlikely for Liam and Noel. Glastonbury headliners are usually kept under wraps until nearer the time of the ticket sale, which is set for October. Plus, there was no mention of the Somerset festival in the brothers' announcement.

In fact, the band have seemingly ruled out any festival performances in the UK. As the tour dates were revealed on Tuesday morning, the band noted: "These dates will be the bands exclusive European appearances".

Oasis 2025 UK and Ireland tour dates:
