The Northern part of Bengal is famous for hosting tourists to several prominent locations that are sprawled around. If you want to escape to someplace serene to get free from your routine-bound life and fill your lungs with fresh air, this is the perfect destination. There are several spots that are quite popular. However, they are often overly crowded. If you want to get all the best experiences the hilly North Bengal has to offer, come on this trip on the Premium North Bengal tour package. You will enjoy every moment and return home with dear memories to cherish for years.

There are primarily two different hilly circuits in North Bengal. One of them encompasses the Darjeeling side, and the other is the Kalimpong side. On this trip, you will not have to stay in the overly-populated primary destinations i.e. in Darjeeling and Kalimpong town itself. Instead, your stays will be in pristine premium destinations. What’s more, they themselves double as sightseeing spots too. Thus, your trip will be an amazing one. You will enjoy great views from your property too.

Delo – Its Location and why it is a great tourist spot in North Bengal

The Delo region is famous for its majestic mountain view and the Delo Park. There is a well-maintained garden atop the Delo hills. You can see Kanchenjunga and other mountaintops from the Delo garden area. Also, it is a hub of adventure sports. From rock climbing, paragliding, and white water rafting, you can take part in these to your heart’s content when you come to Delo. The adventure sports spots are adjacent and picturesque themselves. So, you will love your activity there. Also, the complete Kalimpong circuit is at an hour’s distance from here. You can check out spots like Kalimpong, Lava, Lolegaon, Kolakham, Rishop, etc., from here.

Tinchuley – Its Location and why it is a great tourist spot in North Bengal

Tinchuley is a part of the Darjeeling circuit but it is located some distance from the main populated city. Hence, you can enjoy nature in full bloom here. Tinchuley name comes from ‘Tin Chullah’ or three ovens. There are three prominent mountaintops surrounding the village. These hills look like three ovens, which is the reason for the name. This hamlet is a developing tourist place with lots of potential and less crowd, which makes it a premium destination with a comfortable stay. If you do not want to get down with the crowd and expect the best views with a pollution-free ambiance, come to Tinchuley. From here, you can visit places like Takdah, Peshok, Lamahatta, and even Darjeeling.

After a tryst with the prayer wheels, do check out the Gumbadara viewpoint for a bird’s eye view of the river Teesta. Also, you can go rock climbing in the Gumbadara Rock and the natural cave, if you start early.

Thereafter you go to Peshok, which is a small mountain village. It is famous for its tea garden and trekking routes through the pine forests. Takdah is an isolated hamlet, which is not yet too crowded. Set in greenery, you will love the natural vibe of the place. The serene place often remains in a blanket of fog and mist. See the Rangli Rangliot tea garden, Orchid Centre, and the Takdah monastery here. The next point in the trip in Laamahatta, which is nearby. Here, the well-maintained garden in Lamahatta Eco-park, and the tall pine trees are the main attraction. Return happily in the late afternoon. Relax and enjoy your overnight stay at Tinchuley.

The cost of a tour depends on factors such as group size (number of persons in the group), meal plan (whether your food will be included or not), vehicle used (you can use an Innova or a Sumo for example) and accommodation type (Budget hotel or Luxury resort?). Hidden treasures of North Bengal

Photo of Manikuntala Das

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-

I took the one less traveled by.

-Robert Frost

Choosing the less traveled path, I headed towards a lesser known destination which turned out to be completely amazing. The year 2015 started with a bang and I was just waiting for my first trip. A completely unplanned one, just a week before the long weekend in January (23rd- 26th), I decided that we should definitely go somewhere and hence came forth the idea of travelling to North Bengal. Now, North Bengal as a tourist spot remains at the hit list of any Bong traveler. There is hardly any Bengali travel lover who has not been to Darjeeling in his vacations. Many of us have traveled to North Bengal numerous times but this time, I wished to visit any under-explored and offbeat destination of North Bengal. Two roads diverged from Teesta Bazaar. One led to the most popular Darjeeling and the second one led us to the place of serene beauty and mesmerizing views, Baramangwa.

Here’s my itinerary:

  • Day 1: NJP to Baramangwa
  • Day 2: Baramangwa -Delo- Baramangwa
  • Day 3: Baramangwa- Chotamangwa
  • Day 4: Chotamangwa- NJP

We got down at New Jalpaiguri station and started our journey towards Baramangwa in a Tata Sumo along NH 31A. Baramangwa, in the local language, means “big land of finger millets” and Chotamangwa which is at a distance of 1km from this place means “small land of finger millets”.

Baramangwa is a small village situated at a distance of 60kms from Siliguri . It took hardly around two hours and a half to reach the place. Many people might not have even heard about this place, but this hidden beauty is really precious. I considered it to be a perfect place for the adventure seekers and nature lovers. People who wish to go on a retreat for sometime in order to avoid the hustle bustle of daily lives, can come here and spend some time admiring the gifts of nature. We were accommodated in a farm house that is perched on a mountain slope with forests and trees all around. After lunch, we decided to explore this beautiful village which is situated in the district of Darjeeling towards the western side of Kalimpong hills. The village is a home to a few terraced farms, orange gardens and very few people.

The rooms of the guest houses offer you amazing views of the hills and different types of mountain birds. Tripping in the terraced farms was an amazing experience and after that we headed to check out the orange orchard which is the main attraction of this place.

The orchard was named after Anita Gurung, sister of Mr. Gurung who manages the entire orange orchard. Apart from numerous orange trees around, he also showed us many different plants like coffee, pumpkin, tea, pomelo and various flowering plants. After visiting the entire garden, we had some chit chat with Mr. Gurung and his family. His wife, a really humble lady, offered us some freshly made orange juice. It is so much fun to go to a place and then interact with the locals out there; we come to know so many different things about their lifestyle and culture.

After taking the nature walks, we returned back and sat in the balcony enjoying the calmness of the place. The scenic beauty during the night is mesmerizing when we could see the lights from the other hills around. Oh yes, we could even spot the southern hills of Sikkim from there.

We reserved the second day of our trip to check out the nearby attractions of this place. There are various places around where the guests can visit. The nearby locations include: Tinchuley Sunrise Point (9kms), Peshok Tea Garden (15kms), Kalimpong (21kms), Teesta and Rangit Confluence (8kms), Mongpoo (20kms), Delo (33kms) and Loleygaon (68kms). We decided to head towards Delo.

Delo is located at a height of 5556ft and it is famous for its beautiful nature park. The main attraction of the place is the view of Mt. Kanchenjunga and the River Teesta. One can also try out paragliding in Delo just as we did and it is one of those memorable experiences which will stay with your forever. Spending the day lazily in the nature park feels really amazing. If you wish, then you can also stay there for a day or so by booking the GTA bungalow on top of the hill. We, then, proceeded towards Kalimpong in order to grab some souvenirs and shop a little bit. Apart from amazing woollens, you are going to be crazy after having some food from the bakeries out there. After all the adventure and fun, we returned to Baramangwa.

On the third day, we commenced our journey towards Chotamangwa. A charming village, even quieter than Baramangwa and richer in the scenic beauty, is a perfect place to feel nothingness around you. The village is located amidst the orange gardens and offers a beautiful view of Mount Kanchenjunga. There is a small monastery situated downhill and the pleasing hymns of the monastery are heard all throughout the village. This induces a really good feel within oneself. These are relatively new destinations, so the places are less disturbed and less polluted. After spending the night of calmness there, we headed back to New Jalpaiguri the next morning and hence, our trip came to an end.

There are many more hidden treasures in North Bengal that can offer you the unparalleled beauty of nature. No running about to the sightseeing points, no need to wait in queues, all you need to do here is to relax. Okay and one more confession, these places can transfer a normal girl like me into a poetic frame of mind. The fresh air, the green hills and the beautiful flora and fauna will make you fall in love with the place. This is one of the best places where I have been for my weekend retreat and I can go there again and again just to enjoy the nothingness of the place.

North Bengal Tour Package

Devindra Pal

Thanks to NatureWings for providing a magnificent North Bengal Tour Package for my family. 2 Nights Gangtok, 2 Nights Darjeeling and 1 Night at Kalimpong during 1 march to 6 March 20. The best thing of the arrangement was that they have provided the superior accommodation and vehicle. At every moment during tour their representative was in touch with us for the every help and guidance. What they have offered during booking, they were committed to that and arranged nicely keeping the view of rain and weather. The drivers were polite and punctual of time. Thanks for Inderjeet and Arpan to customize the requirements within my budget. I recommend that whenever anyone plan for a North East Package Tour , then have a word with NatureWings. They have expertise in customising the package within budget and beyond expectations.

North Bengal Tour

Rajkumar Samanta

Hailing from humid Kolkata, Sikkim, and Darjeeling occupies a special place inside us apart from being the nearest hill station. NatureWings was recommended to me by my brother in law who went to the Silk Route with them. I booked my trip for December 2019, and Mr. Akash from NatureWings actively took my call and provided me with a personalized itinerary. Their service was swift and even allowed me to make some changes on the trip. Our driver Mr. Tamang was a friendly person who treated and guided us very well, and his car was comfortable and well maintained. We got good view rooms, and the food served at both the places was fresh and hot. My trip went flawlessly, and thanks to the NatureWings team for their effort to make our trip a memorable one.

Silk Route Tour

Ankita Saha

Being a solo woman traveler, it is not easy to find a trusted travel agency, and as I had previously gone for a Bhutan Package Tour with NatureWings so thought of visiting the Silk route with them. NatureWings Silk Route specialist Mr. Akash provided me with an excellent budget-friendly itinerary covering the best sightseeing places and also allowed me to make the changes I urged. All my queries were answered patiently by him, and as I was traveling alone, so he provided me a good driver who guided me well and followed my custom itinerary. The wooden cottages booked for me in the green valley of Kolakham was beautiful, and the view from my room was like a dream come true, as I saw Mt. Kanchenjunga standing head up high from my balcony with floating clouds passing by. Mr. Indrajeet booked good, safe rooms near to the reception and made sure to make comfort calls every day. Kolakham and Charkhole have a charm of its own, smiling people, far from the crowded cities, in the lap of untouched nature with picturesque views of the mountains that we could only dream. I would love to explore other destinations with NatureWings and recommend others also.

Gangtok Tour

Pankaj Nath

It was a amazing trip. I liked the way you are planning. Hotels and drivers were very good. But there was only one thing which is not good and the thing is the wastage of food at the hotel in gangtok. They should ask their customers for their requirement of food. Otherwise it was a great experience with NatureWings. Thank you.

As for reaching NJP, there are a number of trains available from Sealdah and Howrah Station. Our favourite ones are Darjeeling Mail and Padatik Express, because of their timing. We can just finish off our office on Friday evening and board the train to NJP.

The Perfect Sikkim Itinerary for 7 Days : A Guide for 2024

' src=

Last Updated on December 7, 2023

Planning a winter trip to Sikkim? I’m sure you’ll have questions about how cold will it be, whether it’s safe, which parts of Sikkim to visit in this season and where to stay? Well, you are at the right place as you’ll have the answers to all these and more in this Sikkim itinerary crafted for nature-lovers.

I visited Sikkim first in February 2019 and then in April 2023 with my kid. When it comes to the question of best time to visit Sikkim, I declare winter the winner. Yes, it is cold, but there’s snowfall, clear views of Kanchenjunga , the orange orchids and winter-blossoms. Embark on this journey through the winter wonderland to plan a trip to Sikkim in the winter.

The post contains affiliate links for tours, hotels etc. This means if you make any purchase through the links in the post, I may get a commission without any additional cost to you.

A Quick Outline

The Perfect Itinerary for a trip to Sikkim

Sikkim is a tiny state if you go by its area in square kilometers. But it’s hugely diverse. The steep terrain of the Eastern Himalayas makes it difficult to cover a lot of places in a short span of time. So ideally, you should have at least 7 days for a trip to Sikkim. The more the merrier.

7 days in Sikkim is a good time to cover the best that the state has to offer. North Sikkim has everything that you think of when we talk of the Himalayas- high altitude, snowfall, difficult hikes, yaks, and chilling winters.

But Sikkim isn’t all about that. There are many places in Pelling (west) and South Sikkim where you’ll get temperate climate, blossoms, sunshine, and amazing cycling tracks. Now you can decide where you want to go.

Check out the best places to visit in winte r in India.

A complete guide to plan a trip to Sikkim. Click to read all you need to know about this spectacular destination in the north-east region of India.

I had never seen snowfall before, so we decided to visit North Sikkim in February. But a trip to Sikkim in winter comes with its unique set of challenges.

A lot of places like Lachen and Gurdongmar lake are not open for children below a certain age and people with ailments. This is because of the lower oxygen levels at higher altitudes.

Heavy snowfall often causes road blockages in major tourist sites like Yumthang valley, Chhangu lake, etc. We were well aware of these challenges but still went for the below itinerary.

This is the ideal Sikkim itinerary for 7 days for any season.

  • Day 1: Flight to Bagdogra and drive to Gangtok
  • Day 2: Day trip to Tsongmo/ Chhangu Lake Lake, Baba Mandir, Nathu La Pass
  • Day 3: Drive from Gangtok to Lachung and Lachung sightseeing
  • Day 4: Yumthang Valley, Zero Point, Mt Katao
  • Day 5: Lachung to Gangtok and Gangtok sightseeing
  • Day 6: Gangtok to Pelling via Ravangla
  • Day 7: Pelling sightseeing
  • Day 8: Pelling to Bagdogra and flight back home

However if you visit Sikkim in winter, there is a possibility of missing the points of attraction in Day 2 and Day 4. In that case, you can to a 7-point tour of Gangtok on day 2 that includes waterfalls, scenic viewpoints, monasteries and markets.

On Day 7, even though we were stopped at the Yumthang valley checkpoint, we managed to squeeze in the offbeat Mount Katao in our itinerary instead.

Alternate itinerary if you want to explore the south and west Sikkim instead of North:

  • Day 2: Tsongmo/ Chhangu Lake Lake, Baba Mandir
  • Day 3: Drive to Namchi – Namchi sightseeing
  • Day 4: Drive to Ravangla via Temi Tea Estate
  • Day 5: Ravangla highlights(Buddha Park and Titanic viewpoint) and drive to Pelling
  • Day 6: Pelling sightseeing

You might also like to combine the Sikkim trip with Darjeeling. Since Darjeeling is famous for its resplendent tea gardens, you can 2 days in Darjeeling in the place of Namchi and Ravangla. You can start with Darjeeling, then stay in Gangtok for 2days and then in Pelling for 2 days. You must visit Buddha Park at Ravangla on your way to Pelling from Gangtok.

Where to Stay in Sikkim?

There are a large number of options for stay in Sikkim ranging from budget accommodations to luxury ones. The options are more in cities like Gangtok and Pelling. It’s scarce in North Sikkim. We chose the Sumit Group of Hotels for our stays in different parts of Sikkim. These were good mid-range hotels with complimentary breakfast and great locations.

Summit Namnag Hotel & Spa, Gangtok . It is a 3-star property with great food located close to the MG Road

Summit Khangri Karpo Retreat and Spa, Lachung . It’s a beautiful property with the much-needed mattress heaters in Lachung. The location offers spectacular views of the tranquil village. Heaters are not allowed in the region for environmental reasons, so mattress heaters are used to keep you warm and cozy in winter.

Summit Newa Regency, Pelling . It’s a 3-star hotel which is refurbished out of an old villa. Each room has an attached balcony that offers a clear view of Kanchenjunga. Even if you don’t get a mountain-facing room, don’t worry. The roof is open to all guests. Wake up early to experience the magical sunrise, when the peak turns golden as the first rays of the Sun touch Kanchenjunga.

Places to visit and stay in Lachung

How to reach and commute on a trip to Sikkim

The best and fastest way to reach Sikkim is to take a flight to Bagdogra. It’s a small Airport in West Bengal which is 68 km to Darjeeling and 138 km to Gangtok. Alternatively, you can take a flight to Kolkata, and from there book an overnight train to New Jalpaiguri.

If you decide to drive yourself in Sikkim, you must get your own car, as self-drive rentals are not available yet. Book an SUV beforehand and share your itinerary with them. Considering the difficult terrain, I suggest you book an SUV irrespective of the number of people. It’s safer. The rates are usually cheaper in Sikkim compared to most other states.

Travel Permits for Sikkim

In normal conditions, special permits are required to visit sensitive areas like Tsongmo Lake , Baba Mandir, Yumthang Valley, Lachung and further north. There are checkpoints at higher-altitude areas which are also under strict security control. Pre-book the cab service for intra-state transport , and know all the requirements from them. Once you give them the itinerary they will tell you which places will require permits. Carry two photo identity proofs including one address proof, and atleast 2 passport-size photos for each permit. It’s good if you carry photocopies of your documents but scans will also be enough.

Given the COVID situation, Sikkim has recently opened for tourism with a set of additional rules. You have to mandatorily apply for a travel card before visiting Sikkim. Check all that you need to do that here . Book only those health & safety compliant hotels and services for your stay, commute and tours. You can identify them by government-issued stickers.

Highlights of our trip to Sikkim

You can find the detailed itinerary of Lachung and Ravangla on my blog. The blog posts on Gangtok and Pelling are coming soon. But here are the highlights of my Sikkim trip which I want to share with you. This will help you decide which places interest you more.

Katao is a piece of heaven we never knew about. We visited Katao only because Yumthang Valley was closed due to heavy snowfall. Gurdongmar Lake, which is the second-highest lake in India was also out of reach. Our driver suggested the place“Katao”.

I’ve never read about it before. The offbeat Katao offered scenes of raw natural beauty that I can never forget. It was like a Christmas wonderland and indeed the best place to visit in Sikkim in winter.

Just Living in Lachung

north bengal tour plan for 7 days

Another pleasant surprise of our trip was staying at Khangri Karpo Retrea t in Lachung. Located right across the Lachung river, it was a unique experience to spend time here. We reached Lachung at 2 pm on Day 3. We didn’t have any other plans that day except roaming around in the idyllic village.

The next day, we could only visit Katao. We returned at noon again and had nothing to do. But just the experience of walking along the river, spotting the waterfall, shivering in the sub-zero temperatures, and cozying up in the warm beds was so pure.

River Rafting in Teesta, Kalimpong

north bengal tour plan for 7 days

The third most memorable experience on our Sikkim trip was the river-rafting adventure in Kalimpong. You can do it on your way to Gangtok on Day 1 or on your way back to Bagdogra on the last day.

We did the latter, because we weren’t aware of this on the first day. The water was unexpectedly warm and comforting in the lowlands of Kalimpong. But the current was strong. It was a thrilling adventure indeed.

A trip to Chhangu Lake and Baba Mandir

north bengal tour plan for 7 days

Chhangu Lake also called Tsongmo Lake is a glacial lake perched at a height of 3753 meters. It’s frozen into white snow in winter, reflects the clear Autumnal sky in October, and is vibrant with colorful rhododendrons throughout the Spring and summer.

When we went to Tsongmo Lake on Day 2, it was my first experience of driving through the snow-laden track. It was special indeed. Further away from the Tsongmo Lake is Baba Mandir. It’s a temple dedicated to a soldier Baba Harbhajan Singh, who became a martyr in this place.

Walk and Dine in the upbeat MG Road

MG Road in Gangtok- Trip to Sikkim

MG road is like a small piece of Europe in Sikkim. With the cobbled street, broad walkways, and lovely little cafes this is such an amazing place to spend your evenings in Gangtok.

Besides upscale cafes and restaurants, there are budget eateries too. You have souvenir shops, fashion outlets, supermarkets – everything that you expect in a big city. But the old-world charm is still not lost in it.

Visit Buddha Park Ravangla

Buddha Park, Ravangla Sikkim

Also known as Tathagatha Tsal this is a breathtakingly beautiful park with the Himalayas at its backdrop. The iconic feature of this park is the 130-foot tall Buddha statue. Inside the statue is a Buddha temple and museum where the main concepts of Buddhism have been explained through exquisite paintings.

Outside the statue is a robust garden with fountains, flowering trees, cafes, and other facilities. The park is surrounded by a series of prayer wheels which you will find in most places of worship in Sikkim. Read more about things to do in Ravangla .

Rabdentse Ruins in Pelling

Rabdentse Ruins Sikkim Trip

When we think of Sikkim, it’s a natural beauty that allures us. I’ve never thought of Sikkim as a historical site. Not until I trekked to the awe-inspiring Rabdentse Ruins. It was the second capital of the Kingdom of Sikkim in the 17th to 19th centuries. This was before it was destroyed by the Gurkha Army from Nepal. Watching the sunset on Kanchenjunga from the top of the ruined site is mesmerizing.

My only regret is that we couldn’t spend much time there. The trek took time reminding us of our poor fitness. We left soon after we reached the top, so as to see the historic Pemyangtse Monastery. Unfortunately, the monastery was closed at 4:30 pm (winter timings). We came to know that only after we reached the gate.

Update! I visited Pelling again in 2023, this time with my toddler, and spent a great time at Rabdentse and the Sidkeong Tulu Bird Park.

Skywalk in Pelling

Skywalk Pelling, Trip to Sikkim

The main attraction of the new skywalk in Pelling is the gigantic Chenrezig Statue. But what I loved more are the spectacular views from above. Like Buddha Park, here too there’s a temple inside the statue.

With the trend of building such giant installations in all Tibetan-Buddhist tourist spots, it might not remain a novelty anymore. But since it was my first trip to the Himalayas in nearly 7 years (my last trip was to Bhutan in 2013), I loved both the statues.

Read my complete guide to Pelling here .

The scenic drive from Gangtok to Lachung

Teesta Views in Trip to Sikkim

Another highlight of our trip was the absolutely picturesque drive from Gangtok to Lachung. I can’t count the number of times we stopped on our route to marvel at the Teesta meandering through the lofty mountains, or the perennial waterfalls greeting us from the forests.

The wooden bridges on the creeks, the dangerous roads, the bamboo forests, and the breathtaking views of the valley – they will leave an indelible mark in your mind.

Window Shopping in Gangtok

north bengal tour plan for 7 days

Throughout Sikkim you will come across amazing Souvenirs to take home. My favorite one was the white overcoat that I bought on my way to Tsongmo Lake and wore throughout my trip. But besides that, Gangtok is a great place for window-shopping along with the actual shopping.

Decorative masks, wall hangers, porcelain cups are the specialty items to watch out for. Trust me, you’ll feel the urge to take everything back home with you. But that’s not practical given that the space in my luggage and content in my wallet are both limited.

Packing Tips for Sikkim

Sikkim in winter needs a little extra effort on the packing side. Especially if you are planning to visit North Sikkim. Gangtok , Pelling and Namchi usually have moderate climate even during winter. Gangtok feels a little colder because of frequent rainfall. Here is a packing checklist for Sikkim in winter, so that you can be prepared without over-packing stuff.

*  The items marked in asterix are needed even if you visit Sikkim in the spring or summer, that is, in the months of April – June. The temperature at different places in Sikkim ranges from 13 degrees in the North to 25 degrees in South. You don’t need thermals, gloves or woolen socks in the summer. A thick-foamed waterproof jacket is enough for North Sikkim as well as the unexpected rains.

Besides these, remember to carry multiple sets of undergarments as it will be too cold to wash and dry. They key is to have layers. In Pelling you might not even need a jacket if you are wearing a thermal beneath during the day, while at night you can put on a jacket or cardigan.

Do not pack boots , you can rent them. Also do not get any skiing kit with you. Though places like Katao and Yumthang valley get enough snowfall , the land is covered with trees. So it is not appropriate for skiing anyway.

Your detailed plan for your north east tour to the least populous state in India which takes you to one of the most beautiful parts of Sikkim will be as follows:

Day 1 – Bagdogra/NJP to Gangtok

Land at the Bagdogra airport in the first half of the day where you will find us waiting for you, with a welcome smile. Settle down in the vehicle and get ready for a scenic drive through beautiful tea-gardens of Bengal before starting your ascent to the hills of Sikkim. Reach your lovely stay in Gangtok by early evening and freshen-up. Then, head out to the MG Marg, unarguably the best places to hang around in Gangtok. Have your dinner at one of the many restaurants lining both sides of MG Marg.

Day 2 – Gangtok Local Tour

There are many places to see in Gangtok, good enough to keep you busy for a full day. So, that is what you will do. You will start for a full day Gangtok tour after breakfast. While on the tour, you will first visit the  Namgyal Institute of Tibetology , one of the most historically significant museums in all of Sikkim . From there you will head a little ahead for a rope-way ride to enjoy a bird’s-eye view of Gangtok city.

Over the course of the day, you will visit various impressive monasteries, gardens, and view-points. Some of the most popular places in Gangtok that you will explore will include the Rumtek monastery, the Ranka Monastery, the Banjakri waterfall, Flower Exhibition Center, Hanuman Tok, Ganesh Tok .

If quaint & charming villages, waterfalls and gorgeous are your thing, you will love it today. The approximately 5-hour drive from Gangtok to Lachung is one of the most scenic drives in Sikkim. Stop by on the way to soak in the beauty of your surroundings, take pictures or just do nothing. There is no rush today. Having said that, do not exert yourself today as you would be gaining more than 3000 ft today. Take things easy. Evening free to relax.

Day 4 – Lachung To Yumthang Valley To Gangtok

You will step foot to North Sikkim’s most beautiful gem today, the Yumthung valley. The less than a couple of hours drive might be a little bumpy but the gorgeousness of this beautiful place will more than makeup for it. Spend time exploring the beautiful valley and its gorgeous meadows and frothy mountain rivers. Depending upon the time of your visit (Feb-April), you might also find rhododendron flowers carpeting the meadows and the surroundings.

After spending enough time (it will never be enough 🙂 ) , start your return journey to Gangtok and reach by evening.

Day 5 – Gangtok To Tsongmo Lake and Baba Mandir

After breakfast, start for the high-altitude Tsomgo lake first. The high-altitude lake falls on the way to Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir  and is a must-visit place when in Sikkim. Depending upon which season you are visiting in, you might find the lake partially or fully frozen. If you are not visiting around the winters, you will see the waters of the lake full of fishes.

Today will be a long day but a very interesting one. You will be back in Gangtok only by evening.

A small hill-town located at around 7200 ft., Pelling literally is nestled on the foothills of the mighty Mt. Kanchenjunga. The drive from Gangtok to Pelling is a beautiful one but that is not the only nice part of the day. Once there, visit the must-visit place in Pelling such as the Pemayangtse Monastery and Khecheopalri Lake among other waterfalls around.

Evening free to relax.

Start your day at leisure today. Maybe, take a relaxed walk around before slowly pulling yourself into your vehicle for your journey back to Bagdogra. Drive through beautiful valleys of Sikkim and gorgeous tea gardens of Bengal and reach the airport.

Trip ends. Fly out with a lifetime of memories.
