Getting from Split to Plitvice Lakes

from Split to Plitvicka Jezera

If you are staying in Split , or arriving at Split airport and would like to visit Plitvice Lakes from there, it gets just a bit more complicated than if you are getting to Plitvice from Zagreb or Zadar. Your options are to either use public transport – bus, get a rented car and drive or pre-book an organized day tour. Here is what is available:

Public transport:

The only public transport from Split to Plitvice is a bus. No trains nor flights are available unless you decide to get a flight or train to Zagreb and proceed to Plitvice Lakes from there. This is a viable option, perhaps more comfortable, but in terms of time, it is not shorter at all.

Buses from Split to Plitvice Lakes:

If you are visiting between June and September, getting here by bus is much easier than at other times of the year, as buses are more frequent in this period than out of season. Currently, there are at least 9 buses daily that are running from 7 am to 8 pm. The journey takes between 3 hours and 30 minutes and 5 hrs 50 minutes depending on the route the bus takes. The ticket price is between 16 to 23 Euro one way with some discounts for return, depending on the bus company.

The shortest route takes you from Split main bus terminal (which is in the very center of the town – check timings) via Skradin (Krka National Park) and Korenica to Plitvice entrance 1 and entrance 2 (Slunj, Mukinje). You will be there in about 3,5 hours.

The longer route will take about 4,5 hrs. This one runs from Split main bus terminal via Sinj, Vrlika, Knin and Korenica before arriving at your destination.

Note – some of the available bus routes last for almost 6 hours, stopping in numerous small places along the way. Make sure to avoid these options by checking the exact bus route in advance. Generally, morning buses take shorter routes than afternoon ones.

Popular Routes: Zagreb to Plitvice , Zadar to Plitvice , Split to Plitvice

If you can, I suggest you take the morning bus that departs at 7:00. You will be in Plitvice at 10:30 am, which is a very good time if your plan is to stay here just for one day. You will still have part of the morning and the whole afternoon to explore the Lakes. With later buses, you will arrive here in the afternoon, which is already too late for a proper walk on that day.

Book Plitvice Lakes Hotels

Tip:  Get off the bus at Entrance 1 instead of entrance 2 (which is closer to Split) and start exploring the Park from there. It is an easier walk than the Entrance 2 option. ( check locations of the map )

You can book your bus journey in advance here .

Offseason buses:

If you are visiting out of season (spring, autumn, and winter), bus connections are not as convenient as above. There are only 3 buses running on this route, just one of them leaving in the morning from Split. At this time of the year, you can’t really do a meaningful day trip by bus from Split. And also, the other two afternoon buses take 5 + hrs routes, which is another inconvenience.

For this time of the year, you just have to overnight on the Lakes. At least one night. The good news is, however, that there is plenty of available accommodation here at this time of the year and prices are not as high as in full season.

driving from split to plitvice lakes

Driving to Plitvice from Split:

If you plan to drive from Split to Plitvice Lakes, you basically have just 2 options – see below:

  • The shortest route – option 1

The shortest driving route from Split via Sinj, Vrlika, Knin, and Korenica (see the below map). The length of the drive is 237 km, with an estimated time of arrival of about 3 hours and 30 minutes. This is a free route, with no toll involved, leading along the ‘old’ road to Plitvice.

  • Faster route – option 2

The newer and arguably faster route, a 264 km long route leading along E65 and E75 roads with an estimated time of arrival in about 3 hours. This one is not free, you have to pay a toll, and it gets pretty busy in the summer season.

Which one do I recommend? It depends. If you have plenty of time, take the first option. It is more enjoyable, leads through the countryside, drives along narrow roads, and gives you the opportunity to see the Dalmatian hinterland . And it is free. If in a hurry, join the motorway!

Getting from Plitvice Lakes to Split:

Getting in the opposite direction, from Plitvice to Split >>, in the period April to October buses start at 9:15, with the last one departing at about 23:45. There are at least 9 + daily regular daily buses running on this route with an increasing number of them in July and August. Ticket prices are starting from 16 Euro to 25 Euro, depending on the route and bus company.

If you are visiting the Park on the day trip , for this part of the year you can just about do it. Get the late afternoon one which will take you to Split by late evening. Altogether, you will have about 5 hours to explore the park which is a fair amount of time to get a glimpse of it if your time is so limited.

Private tour, advance booking, car rental?

Yes, for this particular route, I would indeed recommend you join the pre-organized private day tour . Due to travelling time and distance, if you get on a private tour, you will get another couple of hours available for exploring the Lakes which would otherwise be lost in travelling by slow buses. So, if you only have one day to visit Plitvice from Split, yes take a private day tour. Here is a booking link .

You can also take  Uber , which may be cheaper, see  details here .

For the car hire option , well, it really depends – if you are visiting out of season, then car hire may be a good idea if you don’t have enough time to overnight in the Lakes and if the roads are fine. If roads are icy and you don’t have extensive experience with winter driving, perhaps you will be better off being driven by an experienced driver. Roads to Plitvice in the winter are often closed due to heavy snowfall and icy conditions. Still, a local, experienced driver will take you there to see the amazing frozen lakes. If you are visiting in summer, driving should be fine and yes, I would recommend considering this option.

Split to Plitvice Lakes Map:

On the above map, you can see two available driving routes – the shortest one and a bit longer one (see above). Both routes join at Udbine and Korenica, leading to Plitvice Lakes.

It doesn’t include a hotel pickup, but the directions to the tour office are very easy to follow. You’ll be first traveling on a comfortable coach with climate control, spacious seating, and big windows for unobstructed views of the varied Croatian landscapes.

During the ride, your guide will tell you all about the places along the way, as well as some interesting facts about the Plitvice Lakes so you have some background knowledge by the time you arrive.

Make sure to get your camera ready by the time you and your group arrive to Plitvice. Here, you’ll see what’s likely the bluest water you’ve witnessed before. This rich blue glow is thanks to the specific type of algae that grow in this series of lakes.

The slow and steady shifting and dissolving of rock over thousands of years created these pools, and the soft limestone helped to create the chain-like barriers. Pair that with the cascades that trickle into them, the stalactites, channels, and moss, and you have an almost unreal prehistoric paradise.

One of the highlights of this magical tour is the panoramic boat ride, where you’ll be able to see hidden gems up close and personal. The attention to detail and organization from the staff only makes it an even better time.

  • Departure Time: 8:00 am
  • Includes:  All taxes, fees and handling charges, transport by air conditioned fully equipped coach with free WIFI, hotel pickup and drop-off ON REQUEST (downtown Split hotels only), expert local guide

We couldn’t write up a guide on Plitvice Lakes without including this comprehensive tour! The Plitvice Lakes Full Day Excursion from Split is one regularly booked by entire families, due to how well they accommodate children as well as older adults.

This is one of the more “complete” tours in that you’ll not only have time to hike around at your own pace, but also have the chance to go on a scenic train ride or boat trip.

This tour starts a bit later than the others we’ve covered, and you’ll meet at their tour offices at 8:00 am.

Complete with big windows and free WiFi, you’ll always have something to entertain yourself with. The ride is a few hours each way, so it’s nice to have that option just in case.

Once you arrive, you’ll head out on a scenic walk through the dense woods which surround the electric turquoise waters! One of the highlights is the 255-foot waterfall that travels into the clear lake sitting below it. Enjoy a scenic boat ride on Lake Kozjak before continuing on a picturesque train ride.

The train ride is a favorite of many, offering breathtaking views that won’t be able to be seen on foot. After, enjoy a delicious lunch of local dishes at a nearby restaurant or alternatively, your own packed lunch.

One of the most spectacular places to visit on a trip to Croatia is undoubtedly Plitvice Lakes National Park. And while nature enthusiasts could probably spend days exploring the park, many travellers opt to go on a Plitvice Lakes day trip from Split or Zagreb.

If you wondering what is the best way to go about this, then here’s everything you need to know about travelling from here from Zagreb and Spilt as well as how to make the most of your limited time in the national park!

Table of Contents

How to Get from Split to Plitvice Lakes

There are three main options to get from Split to Plitvice Lakes: organised tour, car or bus.

For travellers short on time, one of the most popular ways to visit the national park is by taking a Plitvice Lakes Tour from Split.

Most tour options will include transfers to and from your hotel in Split and a guide to help you get the most out of your time in the park. Most tours do not include entrance fees into the park which need to be paid separately upon arrival.

One of the most highly rated options is this small guided tour that departs from Split or Trogir. It includes a tour of the national park with an engaging guide and the option to have lunch at a local tavern after your walk.

Another good option is this tour that departs from Split but drops you off in Zagreb at the end of the day. This is ideal if you’re short on time and want to minimise travel days.

Travellers who value their privacy or are in a large group can also organise a private tour.

Keep in mind though that the disadvantage of taking a tour is that you will likely arrive at the same time as many other tour groups which means the park will be very busy, particularly in the summer months.

You also will be pressed for time on a tour, so it’s not a great option if you want to spend longer in the park.

Viewpoint from Entrance 1

If you’re on a budget while travelling in Croatia , then taking the bus from Split to Plitvice Lakes is the best option.

There are regular buses throughout the day, particularly during the summer months, however, if you want to make the most of your time at the national park, then you should take the 7 AM bus from Split which will get you to the park around 10:30 AM.

A better option if you want to avoid the crowds, is to take a bus from Split to Plitvice Lakes the night before, get accommodation near the entrance of the park and then have a full day to explore. This will mean you can avoid the crowds for the first couple hours of the day.

Gorgeous lakes of Plitvice

Arguably the best way to do a Plitvice Lakes day trip from Split is by renting a car and driving. This gives you the flexibility to drive up the night before, stay at one of the numerous guest houses which don’t necessarily need to be right at the entrance of the park and get an early start the next day to explore the park.

If you’re planning to rent a car in Croatia, then Rentalcars.Com is the best way to find a good deal as they compare prices across all the major car rental companies.

Taking out third-party excess insurance from iCarHireInsurance can be a good option, as well, as it covers you for any deductible should you need to make a claim.

Expect driving one way from Split to Plitvice Lakes to take approximately 3 hours.

How to Get from Zagreb to Plitvice Lakes

Similarly to if you’re travelling from Split , then you have three main options for taking a Plitvice Lakes day trip from Zagreb: organised tour, bus or driving.

There are several Plitvice Lakes tours from Zagreb that travellers can take if they want the convenience of this option.

Many tours, such as this highly-rated tour also stop at the village of Rastoke which is a picturesque place that is pleasant to wander through. Many of the tours from Zagreb also include admission tickets to Plitvice Lakes.

If you’re maximising your time spent in Croatia, then you can also take this guided tour which drops you off in Split at the end of the day.

You can organise a private tour if you’re a larger group.

Similarly to if you’re taking a day trip from Split , the bus from Zagreb to Plitvice Lakes is the most affordable option for budget travellers.

There are morning buses from Zagreb that arrive in Plitvice Lakes about 2.5 hours later. There are then a few return buses departing in the late afternoon to travel back to Zagreb.

To make the most of your day trip, I suggest taking the bus the night before you intend to visit and then getting an early start to explore the park!

More beautiful waterfalls in the Lower Lakes

The driving distance from Zagreb to Plitvice Lakes is just over 2 hours so this gives travellers a few more options when planning a Plitvice Lakes day trip from the Croatian capital.

If you’re happy to get an early start, then driving from Zagreb still allows you to get to the park early enough to beat the majority of tour groups. Otherwise, driving up the night before will allow you to make the most of your visit.

Many car rental companies also allow you to pick up your car in Zagreb and then drop it off somewhere else in Croatia (like Split or Dubrovnik) for a minimal additional fee.

Plitvice Lakes Day Trip Tips

Regardless of whether you’re planning on taking a Plitvice Lakes day trip from Split or Zagreb, or whether you will travel independently or on an organised tour, here are some tips and things to consider to ensure you make the most of your time at this natural wonder!

Best Time to Visit Plitvice Lakes

Plitvice Lakes is one of the most highly visited attractions in all of Croatia with daily admissions reaching a peak of 17,000 people in the busy summer months. This has led to concerns about overtourism in the park and measures being put in place to protect this national park.

One such measure is the cost of tickets varies dramatically throughout the year with summer prices reaching €40 compared to €10. Prices in the shoulder season of April to May & October are currently €23 for full-price entry.

Keep in mind that concession prices are available for students and children over 7. Those under age 7 and people with disabilities can enter the park for free.

If you want to minimise the strain on the national park while also having fewer visitors to contend with, then I strongly urge you to consider visiting in the winter or shoulder months. Parts of the park do end up closing in the winter months so it’s best to go earlier or later in the winter to try and avoid any closures.

Passing a waterfall on Route C in the Lower Lakes

Buying Tickets for Plitvice Lakes

You’ll need to purchase your tickets in advance if travelling independently to Plitvice Lakes. You can do that at the official website here. Tickets don’t need to be printed and can be shown on your mobile device when entering the park.

When purchasing your tickets, you will be given the option of choosing Entrance 1 or Entrance. If you’re planning on arriving early, then I suggest choosing Entrance 1 as this is the most popular part of the park and you can then see it before the majority of tours arrive.

Alternatively, Entrance 2 might be a better choice if arriving at the same time when many tour groups arrive.

There is an electric train that goes between the two entrances which is included in the entrance ticket so you can easily travel between the two of them if you need to.

Choosing a Route

There are several well-marked routes in Plitvice Lakes to help you see all of the highlights of the national park.

If you have a full day and are starting at Entrance 1, then I recommend taking Route C. This will first take you through the Lower Lakes, allow you to take a boat trip across the lakes, explore the Upper Lakes and then take the train back to the entrance.

All in all, Route C should take you about 4 hours to complete. If you’re starting at Entrance 2, Route H follows a similar itinerary.

If you don’t want to walk for as long, then Route A or B are shorter alternatives. Finally, Route K is designed for hikers who are looking for a longer and more challenging walk through the park.

Generally, the routes are all fairly well marked, however, it’s a good idea to download Maps.Me on your phone so you have a reference point if you get confused.

Dress Appropriately

When planning a Plitvice Lakes day trip from Split or Zagreb, it’s important to remember that the weather here can be quite different from the Croatian coast!

Regardless of the season, it’s worth packing a rain jacket to ensure you stay dry while visiting the park. The temperatures drop here a lot quicker in the autumn and winter months, so depending on the time of year you’re visiting, you also consider taking plenty of layers such as a fleece top as well as packing a beanie and gloves.

Finally, while the walking paths are typically wood-planked, they can get slippery when it rains so you should ideally wear a good pair of walking shoes during your visit to Plitvice Lakes.

Bring Lunch & Water

If you want to spend the majority of your day exploring the park, then I highly suggest packing your own lunch rather than relying on the restaurants in the national park.

While there are a few places to eat, they are fairly spread out and depending on the route you choose, it might not make sense to go out of your way to find a place to eat. Instead, a packed lunch allows you to enjoy a break at one of the many fantastic lookout spots in the park!

Furthermore, make sure to bring enough water to keep you hydrated while exploring Plitvice Lakes. There are only a few places in the park where you can fill up your water bottle, typically around where the restaurants are, so make sure you have enough to last you between those stops!

Take the time to visit Upper Lakes during your Plitvice Lakes day trip!

Where to Stay Near Plitvice Lakes

As we’ve discussed, I highly recommend visitors to Plitvice Lakes, travel up from Split or Zagreb the night before so they can get an early start at the park. Here are a few good options for places to stay.

House Turkalj – A small family-run guest house located about a ten-minute drive from Entrance 1 of Plitvice Lakes. They have a few private rooms with shared kitchen facilities as well as complimentary beer and rakija.

Hotel Plitvice – A mid-range hotel located right next to the entrance of the park, making it ideal if you don’t have your own transport. They offer private rooms suitable for couples or families and breakfast is included in the daily rate.

Falling Lakes Hostel – One of the best options for backpackers in Plitvice Lakes, this hostel offers a range of dorms and private rooms. They organise an affordable shuttle to the entrance of the lakes early in the morning as well as a great common room to meet other travellers.

Just past Zadar, you’ll leave the E65 and continue on the E71 until just beyond the village of Kik. Take exit 13, called Gornja Ploča, and follow route 522 until it meets Route 1. Route 1 will then take straight into the center of Plitvice Lakes National Park .

The route between Split and Plitvice in sections:

  • Follow the E65 highway for about 160 kilometers in a northeasterly direction, passing by Šibenik and Zadar on the way
  • At exit 15, Maslenica, the E65 continues north while you’ll get on the E71 highway
  • Stay on the E71 until exit 15, Gornja Ploča, and turn onto Route 522
  • Shortly after that, Route 522 meets Route 1, which you’ll follow directly into Plitvice Lakes National Park

Split to plitvice lakes bus tours.

Although you can take a public bus from Split to Plitvice Lakes, this is not always the most convenient option. There are (only) a maximum of five daily departures at the time of writing, the earliest of which leaves at 8.30 a.m. and arrives at the park at 12.30 p.m.

With a travel time by bus that’s roughly 4 and 4.5 hours, that’s quite late to start your visit, especially if you need to catch a bus back in the evening. Because of this rather long travel time—double when returning the same day—it’s recommended to spend the night in the Plitvice Lakes area.

You can see below for more information about the current bus timetable Split to Plitvice.

Many buses travel along the Split to Plitvice to Zagreb route, making it super-convenient to continue your journey to the Croatian capital. (This route can, of course, also be reversed.) However, this could be a good option if you’re not returning to Split.

The Plitvice National Park is so unique with its lakes colours and leafage. And although it is a long drive, experiencing the park and guide make the tour a great day worth it.

emilmw2017 Cheltenham, United Kingdom

We were given a lot of information by our guide while driving to Plitvice Park. Transport was very comfortable in their A/C Benz minibus with free wifi and USB charging slots. We walked around 7km with breaks and covered both the upper and lower lakes with boat ride and snack break. On our way back we stopped to taste a local food with extremely reasonable prices. We have spent a really enjoyable day and we really recommend this tour operator and wish them all the best as they provided us an excellent service.

Weighsone Wellington, New Zealand

Communication about where to go etc. was super helpful and everything went very smoothly. It was very nice to take a pictures around and still be able to hear guide speak since we were given a small radio receiver so we could stray about 60m from him and still hear him.

We have had simply amazing tour with our guide, we can’t recommend her enough, she is so informative, funny and helpful. Since we did this tour in July on a 40°c day, we would recommend a different time of year. We will definitely recommend this tour to our friends!

Plitvice National Park is a must see place when you come to Croatia, indescribable beauty! We are really happy for we have booked this tour with this company. Our guide was so enthusiastic, personable, sweet and full of knowledge and great energy. We were offered to have a pick up and drop off convenience with a luxury bus with wi-fi, air condition and very spacious. Perfectly planned route with enough stops to grab a snack and visit restroom. Our guide did amazing job educating us about Croatian history and natural wonders. Blue and green crystal clear water accompanied by dozens of breath-taking waterfalls is simply breathtaking. I have only one suggestion to those taking the tour: the driver and tour guide spend 12 hours with you- don’t forget to tip them!

Brilliant tour and our tour guide Barty was excellent. He made our tour plus five, his humour was great.

june_p_0610 Los Angeles, California

We were picked up at our hotel promptly with spacious and air conditioned bus. Although it is a 3 hours long ride, it was very pleasant as we made rest stops and commentary along the way. Funny and cute guide Petra gave us a history lesson before our arrival to Plitvice lakes and she was very knowledgeable and informative about Croatia. We’ll definitely be back and I highly recommend breathtaking Plitvice Lakes tour.

navagale Edmonton, Canada

It was such a great decision to book this tour with this company! Our guide Petra was lovely and extremely knowledgeable about the waterfalls and it was perfect to be a part of a small froup so we could explore without missing anything. I definitely recommend booking with this company. The route through the waterfalls that we took was unbelievably breathtaking.

Plitvice Lakes

In case you are planning a visit Plitvice Lakes from Split, here are some suggestions how to spend a day or two in Croatia’s most famous national park.

Plitvice Lakes

Why should you visit Plitvice Lakes? Here are some basic information about this natural beauty.

These lakes are among the most beautiful sights in Europe and part of the UNESCO World Heritage.

The Plitvice Lakes National Park consists of 16 lakes all connected with numerous waterfalls. The park is subdivided in two sections, Upper lakes (12 lakes) and Lower lakes (4 lakes), all surrounded by dense forests.

It is easy to explore the entire park on foot, following the numerous trails and lanes, interlaced by wooden bridges. In case you prefer guided tours, you can explore the National Park by small tourist train or boat, available during the whole year.

IMPORTANT : Since 2019 you must reserve your entry ticket to Plitvice Lakes at least 48 hours in advance. Find out why and how .

Getting To Plitvice Lakes From Split

Traveling from Split to Plitvice is easy. One way trip from Split to Plitvice by car will take 2.5 hours on the highway. You can travel with your personal vehicle, or find local bus lines or book transport on organized day trips available from Split.

On the map below you can see the exact location of the Plitvice Lakes. National Park is located somewhere in the middle between Zagreb and Split. Distance from Zagreb to Plitvice is 140 km, and Split is 219 km from the Plitvice Lakes.

Split to Plitvice Lakes Map

There are four ways to visit Plitvice National Park from Split:

Travel to Plitvice by car

Car rental

Whether traveling with your own car or if you rent one, it will take you on average from 2:30 to 3 hours. This difference in time depends on your route.

Looking at the map, the faster route is via E71 and A1 . This highway route has more traffic but it’s more recommended than traveling via Knin D1 . This second route is shorter, but less advisable in my opinion.

Traveling by car is the only way to visit Plitvice Lakes with enough time left to freely explore as much as you like, and preferably grab some tasty local “ janjetina “. You should depart early in the morning to have enough time to explore the park.

There is no direct train from Split to Plitvice Lakes.

Taking a train would still require bus transfers, and I wouldn’t recommend dealing with this for any traveler, no matter how patient.

Bus is often the best and cheapest way to visit Plitvice Lakes on your own. But it may be hard to make a day trip from Split to the Plitvice Lakes using public transport – it’s simply too far to make a round trip in one day.

All buses are leaving from the main bus station , located in Split harbor , next to train station. There is a large number of bus companies running this connection. Bus schedules are always available at the bus station (or online). Purchase the bus tickets directly at the departure station.

For schedules and prices, check the Split bus station website .

Day trips are convenient and easy to book online and in advance. Price per person is typically around €80, and includes all transport costs, your personal guide, and possibly other features depending on tour.

Excursions are run daily by multiple companies, but their offers are often the same.

If you don’t have your own vehicle or consider car rental too expensive, you can easily book your day tour to Plitvice from Split or almost any town in Dalmatia.

Plitvice Lakes prices

Snow in Plitvice Lakes

You can view full price list for Plitvice Lakes on the official website here .

Prices depend on the period you’re visiting in, going from 55 Kuna to 180kn for adults (€7.5 to €25), or 35kn to 80kn (€5 to €10) for children. Prices are highest in July and August , peak of our tourist season.

Unlike much of the country, Plitvice is a fantastic place to visit during the whole year. Waterfalls are perhaps even more beautiful in winter. There’s so few tourists coming in this period, and frozen waterfalls are equally impressive.

In 2018 prices will be increased from 55-250kn for adults, and 35-110 for children. More on this below!

Plitvice UNESCO Heritage

Plitvice Lakes has been a part of Unesco Heritage list since 1979. During high season it is visited by upwards of 15,000 people every day. In 2017 the Lakes have seen a 40% increase in visitors, and are expected to reach 2 million by the end of the year.

The park is overcrowded and it takes its toll. It’s a bastion of natural beauty, and Plitvice management is looking to keep it that way. Increase of prices is mainly due to their attempt to reduce the number of visitors.

Since 2019 Plitvice implemented booking tickets online so they can better manage the number of daily visitors. Tickets are still be purchasable on site, but only if the park isn’t overcrowded that day. Make sure to read our How to Visit Plitvice in 2019 guide for more information on how to reserve your entry tickets!

As a result of its popularity, Plitvice National Park and nearby areas are under additional stress these past few years due to rapid construction of hotels, apartments and other facilities. All of this has also prompted UNESCO to consider removing Plitvice from their World Heritage List.

Final thoughts

Plitvice is almost a must-visit on your trip to Croatia. It’s our more recognizable and most valuable natural resource, and despite massive popularity and business interests it still remains an incredibly preserved natural slice of heaven.

Plitvice Lakes are easy to visit. If you’re traveling to Croatia by car it’s just a short detour on your way to or from almost any Dalmatian destination. And in case you don’t have access to your own transportation, simply book a day trip to visit it. It’s worth visiting!

plitvice lakes trip from split

Tourist places are required to speak English by law, you will be fine.

I do not believe there are any "must sees" because there is so much to see but most popular locations are Rovinj , Dubrovnik, and Plitvice lakes.

Driving is easy in Croatia but parking in cities can be difficult.

October should be fine but sometimes weather (rain) can be an issue.

You need to do some research and figure out what exactly you would like to see.

You need to do some research yourself before we can help.

We could try, but you could end up with a trip that is perfect for me, or somebody else, but not for you.

Get a good guide book, use google, lurk on this forum etc.

Yes, and do provide some more information about your interests. Are for you "must sees" GOT sites, national parks or antique Roman archeological excavations?

Yup...I get that.

Susan, what do you get?

When you press on reply button, it doesn’t attach your response to that post. It puts it at the end of thread. So, we don’t know which post your are replying to unless you specifically mention it.

Adriatic Sea is not an Ocean. No matter where you are on the mainland, you don’t see open sea. Islands all along the coast hide the open sea.

Agree with Cromansydney too, Croatia is not on oceans but on the Adriatic Sea.

I'm used to freshwater lakes...ocean, sea...both are salt water, right? Euros it is. thanks.

Yea, replying here is crazy...even though I click "reply" to a certain post, it displays at the end of all the posts. Go figure. I'll try to be more specific when I reply
