The announcement photo may look familiar to fans, as she donned the same glittery attire on the cover of her seventh studio album. Bey also added “Renaissance World Tour” on her Instagram bio, further accenting the news. Last week, Beyonce performed a full concert for the first time in four years at a luxury resort in Dubai in front of influencers and journalists. The 19-song set included a collaboration with her oldest daughter Blue Ivy as the two performed “Brown Skin Girl,” which earned them a Grammy two years ago for best music video.

Crowned a triumphant win by music lovers, Renaissance stormed to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 last year and rattled off two Hot 100 top 10 hits, including her chart-topper “Break My Soul.” The dance-centric album also notched nine Grammy nominations, the most for any nominee for this year’s ceremony. Bey is looking to rack up more trophy wins, as she currently sits at a staggering 28 wins. Nominated for album of the year, song, and record of the year, Bey is facing some stout competition , especially in the former. The R&B juggernaut will tango against Adele, Harry Styles, Kendrick Lamar, Bad Bunny, and more for album of the year. A win in this category would serve as Beyonce’s first. The 65th Grammy Awards will occur Sunday night in Los Angeles at 8 pm EST.

Beyoncé returned to the stage for first time in four years in January

Last month, Beyoncé made her return to the stage and performed at the opening of the Atlantis The Royal hotel in Dubai. Despite the luxury experience, the singer left fans wanting more, as she did not perform any songs from "Renaissance," The Hollywood Reporter reported.

The invitation-only event marked her first concert in more than four years. She last performed at the  Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100 event in 2018.

Beyoncé dominates Grammy nominations

The singer's tour announcement comes days ahead of the Grammys where Beyoncé leads the 2023 lineup with nine nominations, including best dance/electronic album ("Renaissance"), best R&B performance ("Virgo’s Groove") and best traditional R&B performance ("Plastic Off the Sofa").

With 28 wins and 88 total career nominations, Beyoncé now ties her husband, rapper Jay-Z , for the most nominations in Grammy history. If Beyoncé picks up four or more awards this year, she will surpass the late Georg Solti for the most Grammy wins of all time. (The Hungarian-born conductor holds the record with 31.)

Beyoncé called out by Monica Lewinsky: over 'Partition' lyric after ableism controversy

Beyoncé and Jay-Z have got "to be the most intense power couple in the history of music," Recording Academy president Harvey Mason Jr. Mason said after the nominations were revealed. "That’s music and Grammy royalty – that’s the royal family."

Their combined 176 nominations are "absolutely a testament to their talent, to their level of excellence, to their work ethic, to their level of greatness over a long period of time. I don’t even know what the next (leading) couple would be, but it’s not anywhere close.”

Beyoncé's 'Break My Soul.' Taylor Swift's 'Anti-Hero.'  These are the 10 best songs of 2022, ranked.

Beyoncé noticeably was not nominated in any of the music video categories for the Grammys, having not released any album visuals for "Renaissance" since its debut.

What will the stage be like for the Renaissance World Tour?

According to reports, the stage for Bey's tour is set to be huge.

A source close to the production revealed that: "The structure for the stage is gigantic and on a totally different scale from any other tour right now – that’s why she needed a huge venue to rehearse in.

And she can’t run through the show in any of the stadiums she is performing in because they aren’t soundproofed and people would hear what she was preparing.

She is on top form and is pulling out all the stops to make this a truly groundbreaking tour."

Beyoncé has announced a world tour in support of her Renaissance album, which dropped in July.

The superstar musician broke the news in a bare-bones post on Instagram on Wednesday, featuring merely a photo of her in her Renaissance album look and the words “Renaissance World Tour,” which she repeated in the caption, adding “2023.”

The news comes after Beyoncé performed for the first time in more than four years in Dubai last month and ahead of the 2023 Grammys this coming Sunday, where she’s nominated for a leading nine awards and, if she wins four, could become the most awarded artist in Grammys history .

The Dubai concert on Jan. 21 featured the superstar singing songs she rarely performs onstage and duetting with daughter Blue Ivy Carter. The nearly 75-minute, invite-only performance was to help launch the city’s new luxurious and opulent hotel, The Atlantis Royal. Jay-Z and other members of Beyoncé’s family were also in attendance at the Dubai show.

Prior to that, Beyoncé’s last live performance, apart from her opening the 2022 Oscars , was at the Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100 in Johannesburg in December of 2018. And she performed a headline-making set at the 2018 Coachella Festival, with her performance captured for the Emmy-nominated Netflix documentary Homecoming .

Beyoncé Returns to the Stage With a ‘Renaissance’ Spectacle

The pop superstar opened her first solo tour in seven years in Stockholm and performed tracks from her acclaimed 2022 album, but left most of the choreography to her dancers.

A woman with lowered sunglasses holds a fan before her face that displays a photo of Beyoncé on a horse.

By Alex Marshall and Ben Sisario

Alex Marshall reported from Stockholm, and Ben Sisario from New York.

They came from Iceland, Portugal, Switzerland, Detroit. Dressed in “alien superstar” chic — rhinestone boots and disco-ready, glittery cowboy hats — a huge crowd gathered on Wednesday at the Friends Arena, their cheers reaching an almost deafening pitch as a woman gradually emerged from below, lights bouncing off the sequins on her outfit.

Beyoncé was back onstage.

The singer, style icon and heroine of the global BeyHive fan community is on the road solo for the first time in seven years with her Renaissance World Tour, which opened on Wednesday in Sweden with elaborate visuals but with unusual physical restraint from Beyoncé herself.

Onstage at the 50,000-capacity arena in Stockholm, she appeared flanked by dancers and backed by a live band, performing for three hours before a giant screen that displayed a constantly morphing tableau that was part retrofuturism and part disco fantasia. At one point, the 41-year-old artist traded dance moves with a pair of giant robot arms; at another, an image of a silvery alien dancer in heels hovered over a disco ball.

But for one of pop’s ultimate dancing queens, Beyoncé’s performance was far less physical than on past tours. She often seemed to keep her feet stationary while shaking her upper body, and appeared to favor one leg. She spent much of one song sitting atop a prop.

The star’s eagle-eyed fan community speculated online that the singer was injured. A spokeswoman for Beyoncé did not respond to questions about her performance.

Kristin Hulden, a Swedish fashion student who was wearing an embroidered jacket she had made that depicted Beyoncé riding a horse (the image on the cover of her latest album, “Renaissance”), said she had noticed the star’s more limited movement, but it hadn’t bothered her. “The show was so great,” she said. “The dancers, the visual — it never stopped.” Like many fans at the opening-night gig, she will attend several shows on the tour, returning to Friends Arena on Thursday and then heading to Hamburg, Germany, in June. “I’m very excited,” she added.

Competition for tickets to pop’s biggest, priciest concerts has been stiff, and many in the crowd had traveled far — even thousands of miles — to guarantee that they would see Beyoncé this time. (Thanks in part to favorable exchange rates, tickets in Sweden ended up being far cheaper than in the United States or Britain, costing between 650 and 1,495 Swedish kronor, or about $63 to $146.)

Rhoyle Ivy King, 26, an actor wearing a fluorescent turquoise jumpsuit and shades, said before the show that he had come from Los Angeles for the concert, spending about $2,500. “Anything for mother,” he said. “Seriously.”

Beyoncé has not toured on her own since her Formation outing in 2016 , following the release of her pop-culture-dominating “Lemonade.” In 2018, she performed at the Coachella festival and hit the road with her husband, Jay-Z, for their joint On the Run II Tour.

beyonce jay z tour 2023

The new tour is for “Renaissance,” a homage to decades of Black queer dance music. The LP, her seventh solo release, opened at No. 1 last summer, and its single “Break My Soul” became her first solo No. 1 hit since “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” in 2008.

It was, notably, the first Beyoncé album in nearly a decade to arrive without a full suite of accompanying videos. Starting with her surprise self-titled LP in 2013, the singer has become synonymous with elaborately choreographed and highly produced visual pieces.

On Wednesday, she revealed several futuristic fashion choices: an iridescent-effect minidress; a shimmery gold bodysuit festooned with black opera gloves covering strategic locations; a black-and-silver suit that resembled royal armor. At one point, Beyoncé was dressed in sci-fi bee chic: a yellow-and-black leotard with cutouts and sharp angles, and knee-high black boots. The cyborg theme was fully reflected at the merch stands, with T-shirts, hoodies and totes carrying images of Beyoncé in silvery, “ Metropolis ”-like robot costumes.

The set list featured songs from her debut solo album from 2003 (“Crazy in Love”), her 2008 double album “I Am … Sasha Fierce” (“Diva”), her 2011 LP “4” (including “Love on Top,” which Beyoncé let the crowd finish for her) and her self-titled 2013 release (“Drunk in Love”), alongside a host of tracks from “Renaissance,” including “Move,” “America Has a Problem” and “Cozy.” For the closer, “Summer Renaissance,” the singer sat atop a silver horse that was hoisted from the rafters and then ascended above the crowd by herself, sporting a grand, sparkling cape.

In February, Beyoncé announced the Renaissance tour by simply posting an image to social media. Three months earlier, the demand for tickets to Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour had led to a Ticketmaster meltdown, leaving many fans frustrated and calling for Washington to examine the outsize market power of Ticketmaster and its corporate parent, Live Nation.

To handle the ticketing for Beyoncé’s tour — which is being promoted by Beyoncé’s company, Parkwood Entertainment, and produced by Live Nation — Ticketmaster had an elaborate plan that included rolling out sales in batches, rather than all at once, and the process went far more smoothly.

Still, Beyoncé drew controversy this year when she performed a private show at a luxury hotel in Dubai, in United Arab Emirates, where homosexuality is illegal. “Renaissance” draws heavily on dance music of the 1990s and L.G.B.T.Q. culture; at the Friends Arena, signs denoted some “ gender neutral restrooms ” in the official tour font.

Oless Mauigoa, 35, had traveled from Salt Lake City and said that “Renaissance” had made him desperate to see the show. “I feel like it’s dedicated to a lot of gay styles,” he said. “I’m connected to it more than anything she’s done.”

Beyoncé played into those connections throughout the show, nodding to the ballroom and vogueing culture that inspired “Renaissance” at the end of the night by giving the stage over to her dancers, who tried to outperform each other to rousing cheers.

Beyoncé’s tour continues in Stockholm on Thursday and then arrives in London for five shows at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, starting May 29. Its North American leg will open in Toronto on July 9, will head to MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., on July 29 and 30 and will close in New Orleans at the Caesars Superdome on Sept. 27.

Beyoncé Announces Her 2023 ‘Renaissance’ World Tour

'bey is back and i’m sleeping real good at night'.

beyonce jay z tour 2023

Queen Bey is giving us exactly what we need. Beyoncé just announced that her highly anticipated Renaissance World Tour will take place this year. She shared the news on Instagram and posted a comprehensive list of 41 dates and locations on her official website .

It all will kick off in Stockholm on May 10, before moving across Europe, to Canada and North America, before concluding on Sept. 27 at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. Renaissance World Tour will have a mix of both stadium and arena performances.

The exciting announcement comes just ahead of the 2023 Grammy Awards, which will take place on Feb. 5, where Beyoncé will give her husband Jay-Z a run for his money as the most-nominated artist. The “Alien Superstar” singer has garnered nine nominations this year off her seventh studio album, Renaissance — making her an 88-time nominee.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Beyoncé (@beyonce)

The “ Break My Soul ” singer recently returned to the stage after a four-year hiatus in quintessentially theatrical fashion at the new Atlantis the Royal Resort in Palm Jumeriah, Dubai on Jan. 21.

The songstress appeared with her extravagant entourage of background dancers, and the 48-member troupe of the all-female Dubaian orchestra Firdaus. Beyoncé sang the night away with some of her  greatest hits , such as “Crazy in Love,” “Halo” and “Drunk in Love.”

She also paid homage to the iconic Algerian singer Warda as her hit song “Batwanes Beek” played, and recreated her performance at President Obama’s 2015 inauguration, singing Etta James’s “At Last.” Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s 11-year-old daughter Blue Ivy also made an appearance on stage, along with the Lebanese dance group and winners of America’s Got Talent , Mayyas.

The 2023 Renaissance World Tour will mark Beyoncé’s first tour since her 2018 On the Run II Tour alongside Jay-Z, which celebrated their collaborative record Everything Is Love . Before this, her last solo headlining tour was the Formation World Tour, which took place in 2016 with music from her beloved album Lemonade .

Beyoncé dropped her first solo album in six years on July 29, with 16-tracks chock full of joyful and electrifying house music, paying homage to disco and queer club culture, and becoming the soundtrack of the summer.

While we spend all of our money on concert tickets, we’ll be rooting for Beyoncé to take home the gold at this year’s Grammy Awards .

‘You Can’t Write a Better Story’: Jay-Z Reflects on Blue Ivy Joining Beyoncé On Tour

By Tomás Mier

Jay-Z is one proud papa. In a new clip of his interview with CBS Mornings , the rap star reflected on Beyoncé ‘s Renaissance world tour — and how exciting it is to see Blue Ivy join her mom on stage.

“I know how hard [Beyoncé] works. For me, it’s her best tour. It’s hard to compare them because they all have their different things of genius, but this felt the most complete,” he said of the Renaissance tour.

Jay-Z pointed to the celebration of family lineage on the tour and how Bey honors her Uncle Jonny and also includes Blue Ivy during the “My Power” portion of the show.

Jay Z talks about Beyoncé’s RENAISSANCE World Tour, Uncle Johnny & Blue Ivy in a new interview with Gayle King “For me it’s her best tour” #RENAISSANCEWorldTour pic.twitter.com/DSnCyKzdS0 — RENAISSANCE Updates🪩 (@B7Album) October 27, 2023

“It makes me super proud, and I still get goosebumps seeing her walk onstage. It’s because Blue was born into a life she didn’t [choose],” Jay-Z said. “Since she was born, she’s been in scrutiny and in the public eye and everybody having an opinion. Even [as a] little girl and how she keeps her hair.”

Jay-Z explained that Blue spent a lot of time with Beyoncé’s dancers to get ready to join Bey onstage.

“I know how nervous she was and how frightened she was. She wanted to do it. She wanted to do it the first night,” Jay-Z explained.

While Beyoncé wrapped her world tour several weeks ago, she’s set to premiere Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé in early December.

Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé  will delve into the creation and execution of Beyoncé’s 86-date tour, which began in Stockholm, Sweden, earlier this year. “It is about Beyoncé’s intention, hard work, involvement in every aspect of the production, her creative mind and purpose to create her legacy, and master her craft,” a film synopsis reads. “Received with extraordinary acclaim, Beyoncé’s RENAISSANCE WORLD TOUR created a sanctuary for freedom, and shared joy, for more than 2.7 million fans.”

Beyoncé tour 2023 at MetLife Stadium: Will Jay-Z or Cardi B be musical guests?

3-minute read.

beyonce jay z tour 2023

MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford is the place to Bey this weekend.

“I didn’t get a chance to see Michael Jackson ... I didn’t get a chance to see James Brown. I didn’t get a chance to see Tina Turner, but I got a chance to see Beyoncé tonight,” said R&B chanteuse Jill Scott after Beyoncé's July 23 show at Soldier Field in Chicago. “Oh my God y’all. Phenomenal is an understatement. That vocal ability, the charisma, the honesty, sincerity onstage. I don’t have the …. I’m touched.”

It's Beyoncé's Renaissance World Tour , and shows take place Saturday, July 29, and Sunday, July 30, at MetLife. The concert is about 2½ hours long, split into six segments with more than 30 songs. Bey's latest album, “Renaissance,” is performed, as well as tracks from throughout her career and a few choice covers — including “I'm Going Down” by Rose Royce and “Before I Let Go” by Maze featuring Frankie Beverly.

The covers are a nod to the musical forebearers, and the staging is a futuristic tableau of Black pride ascendency, a celebration of Black queer music culture and Boss Girls positivity, according to reviewers.

Nobody's breaking Beyoncé's soul during this Renaissance.

Beyoncé uttered “the words that her mostly female, significantly queer, impressively diverse, sequin-clad and bedazzled cowboy hat-wearing audience longed to hear: 'I love you, Philadelphia,' " wrote Dan Deluca in the Philadelphia Inquirer after her July 12 show.

Better get out those cowboy hats, MetLife. There have been celebs aplenty in the audiences of tour shows, including Paul McCartney, Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez, Dua Lipa, Kelly Rowland from Destiny's Child and many more, according to Billboard.

More: When the stars, including Beyoncé, want a hit record, they call Allen George of Englewood

There have not been many guests on stage so far — unless you count 11-year-old daughter Blue Ivy Carter joining mom in the Beyhive Pit for several shows.

We have a feeling that if there's going to be any guest stars on stage for the Renaissance World Tour, it's going to happen at MetLife. After all, the intersection of Routes 3 and 120 in East Rutherford is the center of the world in the concert industry.

Here are six possibilities for guest turns at MetLife. Some are kind of obvious, others not so much.

Beyoncé's husband is a hometown hero from Brooklyn with a strong Jersey connection. Shawn Carter used to hustle in Trenton, where he attended Trenton Central High School. Jay-Z and Beyoncé co-headlined MetLife in 2018 for their On the Run II Tour.

Cardi B lives in Tenafly with her husband Offset and their kid Kulture. They're regulars at the American Dream entertainment and retail center, so they know their way around the Meadowlands. Cardi B and Beyoncé have had a friendly relationship over the years — Cardi appeared in a vid for the “Renaissance” single, “Break My Soul.” A Cardi B appearance at MetLife would solidify the union.

“My Power,” the 2019 single from “The Lion King” soundtrack, is performed on the tour — and co-songwriter Nija Charles is a Jersey girl from the Vauxhall section of Union Township. Charles has written hits for Cardi B, Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga, H.E.R., Maroon 5 and more, but a little hometown shine would sparkle into the night.

Fivio Foreign

Fivio Foreign, who headlined the 2022 Hot 97 Summer Jam at MetLife, sampled the Destiny’s Child’s hit “Say My Name” on his 2022 “What's My Name” single. The sample led to a collaboration of sorts between Fivio and Bey after the Queen told him to clean up the lyrics.

“She had to hear it,” said Fivio on Hot 97, according to thefader.com. “She heard it. It was a little vulgar, a little bit for her, at first. ... I cleaned it up a lot. It was like, ‘You can’t be talking about girls like that!' ”

This one is likely to happen. Blue Ivy Carter, the 11-year-old daughter of Beyoncé and Jay-Z, made her Renaissance World Tour stage debut on May 26 in Paris as part of the “My Power” dance ensemble. She's a hit. TikTok users are miming her moves, and even Lizzo did the Blue Ivy. She's not been on stage at every show, but a MetLife appearance would be a natural as Blue Ivy was born in New York City.

Aaron Rodgers

Rodgers, the new quarterback for the New York Jets, is a big music fan who attended the recent Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran concerts at MetLife. We're not sure if Rodgers is musically talented, but he does have his own record label, Suspended Sunrise Recordings. If Rogers attends the show, and if Bey invites him on stage, you can bet the HBO “Hard Knocks” cameras will be there to record all the action.

The Queen has returned.

It’s been four years since Beyoncé ’s last headlining show, and her performance at the new Atlantis The Royal Resort in Dubai on Saturday night (Jan. 21) was a fittingly grand return.

The star-studded show began Saturday night like a theatrical production. Violinists crowned with metallic gold headpieces and voluminous red skirts hit the stage first, and Beyoncé’s dancers and more musicians followed in matching garb, standing still with their hands folded in front of the Egyptian-themed backdrop.

Fireworks exploded above the venue as the iconic artist opened the show singing Etta James’ “At Last” into a gold microphone. Then, she announced to the crowd that her mom, Tina Knowles, father, Mathew Knowles, her “beautiful husband” Jay-Z and their children, Blue Ivy, Rumi, and Sir Carter were all in the audience to support her.

While Jay-Z stayed in his seat when Beyoncé performed “Crazy in Love” (she started it off with the “50 Shades of Grey” version and wrapped with the original), Blue Ivy hit the stage for a collab.

The 11-year-old continued to prove she’s a star-in-the-making when she strolled out in a red sequined jumpsuit topped with a billowy skirt, and flipped her braids while she walked down to her mom’s side.

As Beyoncé started performing “Brown Skin Girl,” Blue Ivy stood beside her and danced, nailing the choreography that the dancers were doing beside her. When the song ended, she hugged her mom, walked up the steps, and struck a pose, even blowing kisses to the crowd like a pro before she left the stage.

Beyoncé had three different wardrobe changes during the evening. A red corseted jumpsuit topped with a skirt came next and then a sheer crystal-adorned mini-dress to end the show.

Curiously, Beyoncé didn’t perform any songs from her Grammy-nominated 2022 “Renaissance” album — perhaps she’s saving that for Grammy night on Feb. 5? Variety hears talks with show producers are ongoing for a possible onstage appearance.

To wrap up the show, the superstar singer and her dancers danced and writhed in water as she sang “Naughty Girl”. Then, Beyoncé strutted onto an elevated plank in the middle of a body of water to wrap up the show. She was lifted into the air, and a spectacular fireworks show followed.

Chloe and Halle Bailey, Nia Long, Kendall Jenner, and Rebel Wilson were among stars in attendance. Guests were told to wear formal wear, and had to rock signature pins to access the event.

All attendees also had to adhere to a strict no-phones policy. No one was allowed to take photos or videos of the concert, but they were allowed to do so at the after-party, where Swedish House Mafia performed and guests continued to indulge in the complimentary Moet champagne.

Beyoncé performed with the all-female Firdaus Orchestra, comprising women of 24 nationalities. The orchestra is mentored by Oscar winner A.R. Rahman.

Beyonce’s performance was part of Atlantis Resort’s “Grand Reveal” weekend celebration of the new Atlantis The Royal in Dubai, which is set to open next month. It also included dinners prepared by world-renowned chefs including Jose Andres, Nobu Matsuhisa, Jose Andres, and Mich Turner.

Beyoncé and jay-z rent out and ride tour bus through nyc with family, beyoncé and jay-z we're doing the tourist thing in nyc ... tour bus with family.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z are going full tourist in the Big Apple ... sightseeing in the city from a tour bus rented out for their family.

Bey and Jay hopped on the Tea Around Town tour bus Wednesday with Blue Ivy and other friends and family in tow ... riding around Times Square and hitting tourist spots.

The famous family also stopped by the Saks 5th Avenue holiday window display, cruised by Rockefeller Center to see the massive Christmas tree from all angles and even had time to make a stop at Bryant Park.

It's pretty incredible to see Beyonce and Jay-Z on a freaking tour bus in his hometown ... but hey, this must be their idea of an "Empire State of Mind."

Of course, there were a lot of little kiddos on the bus too ... so this may have been tailored to some out-of-town relatives visiting for the holidays.

Beyonce and Jay-Z went with a tour bus company offering 90-minute tours featuring afternoon tea with scones, plus sweet and savory treats.

Sounds fun ... but we gotta suggest they check out the TMZ Celebrity Tour and the TMZ Selfie Tour when they're back in Hollywood.

Will Beyoncé announce the Cowboy Carter' tour? Fans think she may be hitting the road again soon.

  • Beyoncé released her new album "Cowboy Carter" on Friday.
  • Some fans think she's gearing up to tour again, though many say they don't have the funds to attend.
  • The Renaissance World Tour wrapped last October in Kansas City. It was hailed as a must-see event.

Insider Today

Less than a year after the Renaissance World Tour wrapped, it might already be time for the Beyhive to dust off their boots and head back out to see Beyoncé live again.

The Renaissance World Tour was hailed as a once-in-a-lifetime event , a bona fide status symbol , and a blockbuster concert movie that awed audiences while near-singlehandedly boosting AMC's revenue . The 56-show run wrapped on October 1, 2023, in Kansas City.

On its heels, Beyoncé has released her new album " Cowboy Carter ." The triumphant country-inspired project is billed as "Act II" in a three-part "Renaissance" series.

So it would stand to reason — financially and thematically — that Beyoncé would plan another tour leg for "Cowboy Carter."

Her team seemed to hint that something is coming by launching a new website, " Been Country ." The landing page shows a photo of young Beyoncé performing at the Texas Sweetheart Pageant, as well as a childhood photo of her mother, Tina Knowles-Lawson , and an image of a banjo.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Slayonce Avenue (@slayonce_avenue2)

A fan account on Instagram shared a rumor that the tour announcement is scheduled for Friday, exactly one week after the album's arrival. Knowles-Lawson liked the post, adding more fuel to the rumor's flame.

Beyoncé's longtime collaborator The-Dream, who produced 10 of the new album's 27 tracks, also alluded to a forthcoming tour. He celebrated the release of "Cowboy Carter" on X, writing, "This tour bout to B' Incredible!"

Fans grabbed screenshots of The-Dream's post, though it has since been deleted.

However, the six-month turnaround since Beyoncé's last concert does cast suspicion on these theories. Thanks to "Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé," we know the Renaissance World Tour took four years to ideate and execute.

It's unclear if plans for a "Cowboy Carter" show were also in the works during that time, but if not, fans may have to wait a bit longer to watch Beyoncé perform. As she's already made clear, " A queen moves at her own pace ."

Even so, a delay may come as welcome news, even for dedicated members of the Beyhive.

Many fans have been posting about their lack of ticket funds on X, playfully begging Beyoncé to put off touring until next year.

Jay-Z’s Made in America Festival canceled for the second year in a row

The Made in America Festival has been canceled — for the second year in a row.

“As purveyors of change, the Made In America executive production team is reimagining a live music experience that affirms our love and dedication to music and the work we do,” a statement posted on the festival’s website and Instagram reads.

Founded by hip-hop mogul Jay-Z, the festival typically takes place over Labor Day weekend along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia. The inaugural festival was in 2012 . Over the years, artists such as Justin Bieber, Kendrick Lamar, Bad Bunny and Beyoncé (Jay Z’s wife) have headlined the East Coast stage.

After postponing in 2020 because of COVID, the festival persevered until 2023, when it was canceled less than a month before the event. SZA and Lizzo were set to headline with Ice Spice, Metro Boomin and Miguel scheduled to perform. The sudden cancellation was “due to severe circumstances outside of production control,” according to a similar statement last year from the organizers. .

At the time, both the festival and then-Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney ensured that the event would return in 2024.

“We look forward to bringing Made in America back and bigger than ever to the Benjamin Franklin Parkway next year,” Kenney wrote in a statement to the Associated Press .

This year’s cancellation of Jay-Z’s festival provides more advance notice for attendees than in 2023. Failing to give a specific reason for the cancellation, the statement instead promises “an exciting return.”

No lineup had been announced for this year’s Made in America Festival, and the statement did not include a return date.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z attend the 66th Grammy Awards at Los Angeles' Crypto.com Arena on Feb. 4, 2024.

When Jay-Z took the stage at this year's Grammys to accept the second-ever Dr. Dre Global Impact Award, the rap titan and business mogul seized the opportunity to address the elephant in the room. After name-checking a few of the organizational fumbles that had led hip-hop artists, himself included, to boycott the ceremony in years past, he swung the spotlight onto his wife. "I don't want to embarrass this young lady," he said, as Beyoncé smiled back from under a white Stetson, "but she has more Grammys than everyone, and never won album of the year. So even by your own metrics, that doesn't work." The nervous laughter that punctuated the moment told the story of an era, in which Beyoncé's repeated passing over in the categories that count the most has increasingly been held up as evidence of an institutional failure, reflecting wider cracks in the foundation. "We gotta keep showing up — and forget the Grammys for a second, just in life," Jay added in closing. "Keep showing up until they give you all those accolades you feel you deserve. Until they call you chairman. Until they call you a genius. Until they call you the greatest of all time."

Let's get this out of the way: Beyoncé should have won already — even Adele knows it — and you could make a case for Jay-Z, too, who was nominated for 4:44 in 2018. Rarely are stars of Bey's stature so ambitious, or their work so consistently unimpeachable. It makes sense that Jay, a careerist who has spent decades crafting an impeccable résumé, can't understand why such an honor is missing from his partner's. Yet while there is a reading of his speech as bold and insurgent, deploying a Trojan Horse from within the city walls, there is another that is more like lobbying — getting ahead of next year's cycle, where a showdown between Beyoncé and Taylor Swift feels all but inevitable. Either way, it represents a seemingly insatiable need to see that trophy on their mantle.

When will Black artists be ready to break up with The Grammys?

When will Black artists be ready to break up with The Grammys?

Jay's speech exists on a continuum with a more recent stunt, in which Beyoncé's team beamed advertisements for her new album, Cowboy Carter (out March 29), onto the exteriors of the Guggenheim Museum, Whitney Museum, New Museum and the Museum of Arts and Design. The messaging, apart from some mundane release details, qualified her current move into country music, reading: "This ain't a country album. This is a 'Beyoncé' album," as if putting primacy on the artiste as fit for display there. Taking back space has long been a point of emphasis for the couple: When Noel Gallagher responded to Jay-Z headlining Glastonbury by saying hip-hop had no place at the festival, the rapper emerged performing "Wonderwall." The "performance art film" for Jay's song " Picasso Baby " was inspired by the work of artist Marina Abramović and shot at Pace Gallery. As The Carters, they brought their "Apes**t" music video to the Louvre. "Put some colored girls in the MoMA," Jay once rapped, with Beyoncé capping the list. "Call Larry Gagosian, you belong in mo-seums."

Museums, of course, are colonial by nature. And awards ceremonies, at least those that drive conversation in the entertainment business, have long been built on the myth of white culture as the dominant American culture. (For all its diversity initiatives in recent years, the Recording Academy still maintains a white majority in its voting class.) In the Carters' ongoing push for acceptance, most roads seem to lead to a white establishment. To be clear, there is value in the challenge: "De-centering whiteness in arts and cultural institutions is an urgent matter," the writer Jamara Wakefield wrote in 2019. "This is why it is critical that the public continue to apply pressure to power, so institutional leaders do not become complacent or complicit." But what is curious about the efforts of pop's royal couple is how they've triumphed by just about any other metric, and how doggedly they still pursue the approval of a few institutions as the definitive appraisal of their worth. It's no one's place to tell them not to fight, but it may be time to recognize that fight as something other than activism.

The inspiration for Cowboy Carter , Beyoncé revealed in a statement, dates back to 2016, and the hostility she experienced performing her song "Daddy Lessons" at the CMA Awards, alongside the trio then still known as the Dixie Chicks . Country's biggest night, it seemed, was not a safe space for Blackness, a feeling compounded by the Grammys denying the song entry in country categories that same year. In the book Black Country Music: Listening For Revolutions , Francesca T. Royster opens with the complications at the core of this issue — namely, the struggle to distance the music from its more intolerant associations. As she put it, to many ears country music can still "evoke and memorialize visceral memories of racialized violence; lynchings, the indignities of Jim Crow; gender surveillance and disciplining; and the continued experience of racial segregation in urban, suburban, and rural spaces in the North and South."

Beyoncé is getting played on country radio. Could her success help other Black women?

Beyoncé is getting played on country radio. Could her success help other Black women?

Through the lens of that friction, one can read Beyoncé's very presence on that stage as mounting a case for Black belonging. In an essay centered on the CMA performance, Royster was able to articulate the merit of such seemingly seditious acts: "In the end, I see Beyoncé offering a revised model of rage that can be generative, and also inclusive and justice seeking, one that parallels the Black feminist view of 'mothering.' " But the caveats are obvious: No matter how generative, inclusive and justice-seeking Bey's rage, she remains an interloper, defined as such by the terms of the conversation she wishes to join. Years later, Cowboy Carter faces the same conundrum. The purist is not swayed by an outsider's know-how or obeisance, and any move to show one up plays into the very perception that genre hardliners enforce — of countryfolk keeping out carpetbaggers, even or perhaps especially the most accomplished Black pop star of a generation.

Cowboy Carter 's cover photo has already kicked off some heated debates about intent — specifically, about appealing to the white gaze versus honoring the legacies of Southern Black identity. In the image, she sits sidesaddle on horseback, platinum-blonde hair flowing out of a cowboy hat, hoisting up an American flag. On the one hand, there is a rich history of Black cowboys and rodeos, and bringing that context to the fore is a way to put Black people at the center of a narrative from which they have largely been divorced in popular culture. On the other, there is no more blatant performance of an all-American identity than waving the stars and stripes — and so much of that identity has been predicated on Black erasure that sacrificing oneself to it can feel like submitting to those values. In the 1963 book Blues People , Amiri Baraka said that "the adjustment necessary for the black man to enter completely into 'white' American society was a complete disavowal that he or his part of the culture had ever been anything other than American." There is an extent to which the Americanness of it all comes to supersede the Blackness, where the attempt to reclaim the thing becomes an acquiescence to its power.

The ever-talkative Azealia Banks had a lot to say in response to the cover. "You're reinforcing the false rhetoric that country music is a post civil war white art form. And subsequently reinforcing the idea that there is no racism / segregation / slavery / violence / theft / massacres / plagues / manifest destiny craziness that form the bedrock of epithets like 'proud to be American' or 'god bless the usa,' " she wrote on Instagram. Discourse about Beyoncé tends to vibrate at an extreme pitch; I don't necessarily believe it is her responsibility to unpack all that baggage, and for the moment, it's impossible to say that she won't at least try somehow. That said, there is something disconcerting about the image. It would be one thing if she were a career country artist, actively fighting for the right to exist as she is, as many in that world valiantly are. But she is a pop star, donning the genre like a costume, which makes the whole thing performance — and no amount of proselytizing before the country music faithful that can rewrite the realities of this divided, racialized history. The question then becomes: Who is the audience?

We have seen Black excellence receive the Grammys' highest honor before. Stevie Wonder won album of the year three out of four years in the 1970s. Michael Jackson won album and record of the year in 1984. Lauryn Hill won album of the year and best new artist in 1999. OutKast scored the top prize in 2004. Did those wins kick the door open in a lasting way? Ahead of the 2023 ceremony, one anonymous voter revealed why they had chosen Harry's House , the eventual AOTY winner, over Renaissance : "Did I personally listen to it a ton? No. Did it make itself known in every TikTok? Absolutely." Another on why they chose ABBA instead: "With Beyoncé, the fact that every time she does something new, it's a big event and everyone's supposed to quake in their shoes — it's a little too portentous."

In the same way, other Black pop stars before Beyoncé have gone country and faced versions of the battles that greet her today. Granted, Beyoncé is a Black Texan, and it's easy to understand the importance of preserving a lineage. The Cowboy Carter rollout has already shone a light on contemporary Black artists in country and Americana, how hard they work for recognition and how deep their roots run. There is power in centering Black experience to take back narrative control of an art form, and doing so can lower the barrier to entry for those who might follow in her footsteps. But two things can be true at once: Beyoncé can be tapping into a history she has every right to, and she can also be doing so in deference to governing bodies that will never truly see her.

Opinion: Jay-Z Can't Roc With The NFL Unless Kaepernick Gets A Seat At The Table

There is also the matter of class to consider. Both Jay-Z and Beyoncé are estimated to be billionaires. They do not need institutional support the way others do, and in fact have received an exceptional amount. What would winning album of the year at the Grammys, or being accepted at the CMAs, do for them today? How will infiltration materially affect their communities at this point? If their ultimate goal is political activation, they might find greater engagement elsewhere, rallying the people these institutions were built to alienate. If it is a robust and inclusive music business, they might spend less time at the usual pageants, lean into their wealth and agency and try to build something else entirely. But their core commitment has remained the same: Keep showing up, keep waiting to be acknowledged.

In that light, it feels disingenuous to ignore how their actions also serve the Black capitalist ideal: the principle that infiltration of a white space is the same as decolonizing it, that Black equity is found in assimilation. The Carters' combined efforts raise important questions about the limits of that labor, and when advocacy begins to mingle with brown-nosing. While I don't doubt their genuine desire to see these spaces become more accepting for "people who look like we," as Jay put it on 4:44 's "Legacy," business ventures like the ostensibly artist-focused streaming service Tidal, or Roc Nation's immediately controversial partnership with the NFL, have always eventually tilted in the direction of the existing hierarchy.

There's a passage from Frantz Fanon's Black Skin, White Masks that sticks with me. Fanon, one of the foremost racial theorists, first explained the needs of Black acceptance: "Since the black man has always been treated as inferior, he attempts to react with a superiority complex. ... It is because the black man belongs to an 'inferior' race that he tries to resemble the superior race." After laying out the particulars of this complex, Fanon puts the relationship into striking relief: "Man is human only to the extent to which he tries to impose himself on another man in order to be recognized by him. As long as he has not been effectively recognized by the other, it is the other who remains the focus of his actions. His human worth and reality depend on this other and on his reaction by the other. It is in this other that the meaning of his life is condensed."

It is clear that the Carters, in seeing their work underrecognized by these institutions, see its very meaning condensed. But in truth, it is boundless, far greater than the space of those halls. No one person's reach can extend beyond institutional power, but allowing such institutions to have the final say on legacy is minimizing in its own way, particularly when you no longer need to amplify your voice to be heard, or affirm your own greatness to have influence. So much great art is never considered high art, and that's fine. It would be foolish to say we have not been empowered by their efforts to some extent: The masterpieces created chasing highbrow benchmarks and insider status are the spoils of this crusade, challenging us to push for greater heights, as well. You see it in the reverent way other artists talk about them, their craft and everything they've achieved ( look no further than this year's best new artist winner, Victoria Monét ). We continue to invest in the drama of their fight for inclusion because it can feel like a front-line battleground for a more impartial world: If their excellence can't be recognized, can any of ours? But as the fight drags on, the struggle becomes cyclical, and it grows clearer and clearer that we can't count on their victory to save us.

The Surprising Reason Beyoncé and JAY-Z's 'Lasting Connection' Is 'Proven in the Stars,' According to an Astrologer

The music power couple possess a planetary square signifying they will always “strive to comprehend each other,” astrologer Lisa Stardust tells PEOPLE

Beyoncé and JAY-Z have been “crazy in love” for over two decades , but what do the stars say about their romance?

The couple first collaborated on the song “03 Bonnie & Clyde” in 2002 and eventually tied the knot on April 4, 2008. Since then, they have partnered together on music and life, releasing many more songs together and welcoming three children : daughter Blue Ivy and twins Sir and Rumi.

As they celebrate their wedding anniversary, PEOPLE recently spoke with astrologer and bestselling author Lisa Stardust , who analyzed both Beyoncé and JAY-Z's natal charts to predict their overall compatibility.

Born on Dec. 4, 1969, JAY-Z is a Sagittarius Sun and Libra Moon, while Beyoncé was born on Sept. 4, 1981, making her a Virgo Sun and a Scorpio Moon.

Stardust points out that Beyoncé and JAY-Z’s charts show a planetary square, “an astrological aspect that happens when two planets are 90° apart,” and signify two people that will always “strive to comprehend each other.”

Read ahead for a deep dive on what the stars say about the music superstars, based on Stardust’s readings.

Beyoncé and JAY-Z's compatibility based on planetary alignment

Though Beyoncé and JAY-Z have their differences, their signs also balance each other out. Stardust notes that while JAY-Z’s Sagittarius Sun sign often “values independence,” his Libra Moon sign “values relationships” at the same time.

“His ideal partner is someone who grows and evolves with him , who challenges his mind and is committed to partnership,” Stardust points out.

Meanwhile, Stardust posits that Beyoncé’s Virgo Sun and Scorpio Moon sign causes her to display “a strong analytical inclination, carefully considering her actions before taking the next step,” adding that “her deep emotional temperament and unwavering loyalty are reserved for those with whom she shares an intimate connection with.”

Beyoncé and JAY-Z have stood by each other through various highs and lows , which is likely a testament to their planetary square, which Stardust describes as “an astrological aspect that happens when two planets are 90° apart.” For the music power couple, specifically, their Sun signs square each other “indicating that they will always make an effort to work through any issues that arise in their quest to comprehend each other because they are committed to preserving their relationship .”

“Furthermore, they are drawn to their personal differences,” Stardust adds. “These variations hold these individuals together because they find them fascinating and captivating.”

Beyoncé and JAY-Z's romance and intimacy compatibility

Stardust points out that “Saturn is the planet that holds two charts together in compatibility,” and   Beyoncé’s Saturn “connects with Jay-Z's Moon in Libra, creating an intense bond that will transcend time.”

“They are each other’s life partners,” Stardust says. “Their relationship is proven in the stars, thanks to Saturn, to have a lasting connection.” Stardust adds that “Jay-Z’s Neptune aligns with Beyoncé's Moon in Scorpio, indicating a shared desire to make their dreams come true and help each other grow.”

Stardust notes that the couple’s signs, specifically Beyoncé’s Jupiter connecting to Jay-Z’s Moon, show they are incredibly collaborative in how they work together and communicate. “They're committed to growing and evolving together, and most importantly, looking out for each other,” Stardust says. “The planet Jupiter is associated with expansion and good fortune, while the moon represents our emotional selves and home.”

Stardust points out that “Beyoncé's chart shows that Mercury, the planet of communication, and Venus, the planet of love, are in Libra, which is in alignment with Jay-Z's Libra Moon.” This suggests that they “prefer intimate conversations at home and value connecting with each other.”

Additionally, their communication skills mean they are open about their aspirations and “ provide mutual support , making them each other's biggest supporters,” both in the public eye and behind closed doors.

Beyoncé and JAY-Z's career and financial compatibility

According to Stardust, Beyoncé and JAY-Z have a “fabulous work connection” as Beyoncé's Jupiter and Saturn align with Jay-Z's Moon. “This inspires him as the Moon is a part of ourselves that we cannot express, and Jupiter allows these feelings to be known,” Stardust adds.

Additionally, Beyoncé can be beneficial in offering advice as “Saturn is known to help people improve their talents.” On the flip side, JAY-Z “likes to support Beyoncé in everything she does and finds glory in watching her thrive.”

When it comes to the financial aspect of their relationship, Beyoncé’s “proximity of Saturn, a planet of limitations, to Venus, the planet of money,” can cause her to be more cautious about money. Meanwhile, JAY-Z is a Sagittarius Venus, “making him inclined to spend.” However, Stardust notes that “his Saturn in Taurus makes him value conservation and growth.”

“Overall, they share similar views and prioritize investing in their future,” Stardust adds.

Beyoncé thanks her ‘rock’ Jay-Z and their ‘3 beautiful children’ in iHeartRadio Music Awards 2024 speech

She’ll be their protector.

Beyoncé sweetly paid a rare tribute to her husband, Jay-Z, and their three kids during the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Monday night.

“My husband, my rock, my best friend, I love you,” she said while accepting the Innovator Award. “My three beautiful children, who continue to be my inspiration and my biggest blessing.”

Beyoncé, 42, married Jay-Z , 54, in 2008. They welcomed daughter Blue Ivy in 2012 followed by twins Rumi and Sir in 2017.

The “Texas Hold ‘Em” singer also took a moment to shout out the innovators who paved the way for her illustrious career, including Stevie Wonder, who presented her with the trophy.

“Thank you to Rosetta Tharpe, Miss Tracy Chapman, Linda Martell, Prince, Stevie Wonder, André 3000, Tina Turner, Michael Jackson and so many more who defied any label placed upon them,” she said while dressed in a Western-themed black leather Versace outfit .

“Thank you for executing your dream so we could all follow.”

Queen Bey has said that she decided to record the 27-track project, which features legendary artists including Dolly Parton and Willie Nelson, after feeling unwelcome when she performed at the 2016 CMA Awards .

In Monday’s acceptance speech, Beyoncé touched upon the backlash she has received over the years for crossing genres.

“Innovation starts with a dream, but then you have to execute that dream, and that road can be very bumpy. Being an innovator is seeing what everyone believes is impossible. Being an innovator often means being criticized, which often will test your mental strength. Being an innovator is leaning on faith and trusting that God will catch you and guide you,” she said.

“So to all the record labels, every radio station, every awards show, my hope is that we’re more open to the joy and liberation that comes from enjoying art with no preconceived notions.”

Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s Houses: Inside Their Real Estate Portfolio Worth Hundreds of Millions

By Joyce Chen

Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s houses are fit for American royalty. And with the purchase of a minimalist mansion in Malibu from art collectors William Bell Jr. and Maria Bell in 2023, the power couple now officially owns the most expensive home in all of California history. The two music moguls, who share 56 Grammys between them, are reportedly worth a combined $3 billion . Beyoncé reportedly brought in $579 million through her Renaissance World Tour last year and will likely have another blockbuster summer with the release of her Act II : Cowboy Carter album. (Rumors of Jay-Z’s new album have lit up social media as well, but nothing concrete has been announced so far.)

The pair began building their joint real estate empire in 2008, when they were married. In the years since, they have owned and sold homes in New York City, Miami Beach, New Orleans, the Hamptons, and Los Angeles.

Below, we’ve rounded up some of Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s houses, the incredible places that the dynamic duo have called home.

Tribeca penthouse, where they tied the knot

Even though Jay-Z’s 2009 hit “Empire State of Mind” referenced a “stash spot” at 560 State Street, an address in Brooklyn’s Boerum Hill neighborhood, the rapper’s first big real estate purchase was actually in Lower Manhattan. In 2004, several years before he and Beyoncé tied the knot, Jay-Z shelled out $6.85 million for an impressive Tribeca penthouse . The seventh-floor unit was situated in a converted 1929 brick warehouse building and measured 8,000 square feet, with an additional 3,000 square feet of outdoor terraces. The couple would later hold their private, 40-person wedding at the penthouse, reportedly with 70,000 Dendrobium orchids flown in from Thailand. It appears that Jay-Z still owns the unit.

Beyoncé’s Midtown Manhattan condo

Meanwhile, Beyoncé’s bachelorette pad for the first few years of their relationship was a $5 million condo in midtown Manhattan overlooking Central Park, which she purchased in 2005. The ultramodern spot featured floor-to-ceiling windows and 11-foot ceilings, with high-end interior finishes selected by Paris designer Jacques Grange. Beyoncé reportedly used the three-bedroom condo primarily as a spot for friends and family to stay while they were in town. The singer sold the 44th-floor corner unit for $9.95 million in 2017 after less than a month on the market. Her mother, Tina Knowles, also previously owned a residence in the same building but sold it in 2011.

Jay-Z’s Time Warner Center rental

Several years after purchasing his Tribeca penthouse, Jay-Z upgraded to the Time Warner Center in Midtown. The rapper’s new home was a 4,825-square-foot condo he rented for a reported $40,000 per month. The three-bedroom penthouse boasted floor-to-ceiling windows and a skyline view of the city, as well as unusual features like a fish tank that hung from the ceiling. It’s unclear for how long Jay-Z rented the residence, but it sold for a record-breaking $31 million in 2011.

Mansion on Miami’s Billionaire Bunker

Shortly after tying the knot at Jay-Z’s Tribeca penthouse, the newlyweds snapped up a property in Miami on the exclusive Indian Creek Island, where notable residents include Julio Iglesias, billionaire Carl Icahn, Adriana Lima, Tom Brady , and Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner. Their Mediterranean-style villa (one of only 35 homes on the island) was built in 1991 and boasted seven bedrooms and eight bathrooms, plus its own private boat dock. The couple was believed to have paid a little over $9 million for the compound, but they didn’t hold onto it long, selling it for $9.3 million in 2010 .

Hamptons rentals

The power couple next paid a casual $400,000 a month to rent a 31,000-square-foot New England–style mansion in Bridgehampton, New York, in 2012. The vacation home was outfitted with all the necessities of a perfect summer getaway. In addition to a two-lane bowling alley, the home also offered a rock climbing wall, a skateboard half-pipe, a full bar, a pool, a tennis court, and an outdoor kitchen.

The pair also famously rented a home in nearby Wainscott, located just off Georgica Pond, with friend and Roc-A-Fella Records CEO Damon Dash for two weekends that July. “I felt like a little kid in a big haunted house there,” Jay-Z told New York magazine at the time. The Italianate stucco house sat on 8.5 acres and featured an indoor-outdoor pool and a 120-seat screening room, which was used for an intimate yet star-studded premiere of End of Watch starring Jake Gyllenhaal. Celebrities like Madonna and Jennifer Lopez have also been known to rent the property .

Holmby Hills rental

The Carters then began their search for a home base in Los Angeles, but they had a surprisingly hard time locking one down. They were outbid on a number of properties (once by Minecraft creator Markus Persson), so they opted to rent first instead. In 2014, the superstars shelled out $150,000 a month for a newly built, contemporary Holmby Hills estate with floor-to-ceiling glass sliders, an infinity pool, a wine cellar, a 75-foot-long art gallery, and a home theater. When the property sold in 2015, the couple had to vacate the premises, meaning that their search for the perfect West Coast pad continued.

New Orleans church-turned-home

Elsewhere in America, rumors buzzed that Jay-Z and Beyoncé were the new owners of a historic home in New Orleans’ Garden District in 2015. It was later revealed that the pair had indeed picked up a former church turned ballet school turned residence through an LLC linked to the Renaissance singer. Though it’s unknown how much the couple paid for the unique 13,300-square-foot mansion, it was listed for $2.6 million at the time of their purchase. Built in the 1920s in the Spanish Baroque style, the towering three-story building, known as La Casa de Castille, was divided up into a main residence and three separate apartments, with seven bedrooms and eight bathrooms between the spaces. The place made headlines again in 2021 when a fire broke out at the property; several months later, TMZ reported that the couple was listing it for $3.5 million and then a more ambitious $4.45 million. The home didn’t appear to sell, and it was later pulled from the market.

One week after welcoming twins Rumi and Sir in June 2017, the elated parents (they also share 12-year-old daughter Blue) opted to temporarily move into an estate in Malibu to recoup and get to know the latest additions to their family. The pair rented the 6.3-acre compound known as La Villa Contenta for $400,000 a month. The extremely private, 12,000-square-foot Mediterranean-style residence had amenities like a movie theater, a gym, and a wine cellar, as well as numerous terraces overlooking the Pacific Ocean (though no direct beach access). The Malibu mansion was also where Beyoncé famously shared a first photo of the twins the day they turned one month old.

$88 million Bel Air mansion

Later that summer, the couple finally found their West Coast home base with the purchase of an ultramodern $88 million Bel Air mansion . The property was newly built at the time, and comprises six separate structures measuring a total of 30,000 square feet, with amenities like spa and wellness facilities, a media room, and a whopping four outdoor swimming pools. There are 8 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms, a 15-car garage, and more than 10,000 square feet of outdoor living space. Also of note: All of the windows and pocketing glass walls are bulletproof for the utmost security.

Hamptons vacation home

The couple continued their landmark year in 2017 with the purchase of a seven-bedroom, seven-and-a-half-bathroom mansion in East Hampton the following month. The Pond House is a 12,000-square-foot behemoth designed by renowned architect Stanford White, situated just off Georgica Pond. The estate includes 203 feet of waterfront property and is adjacent to a massive 17-acre meadow preserve, ensuring that the Carters have the utmost privacy. Incredibly, the previous owner even rotated the house 90 degrees so that the living room now faces west toward the pond, meaning that the family of five gets views of both stunning sunrises in the east and picturesque sunsets in the west.

Record-setting Malibu megamansion

In 2023, Beyoncé and Jay-Z paid $200 million for a stunning Malibu home, setting a real estate record for the most expensive property in all of California’s history. The 40,000-square-foot abode is situated in the exclusive enclave of Paradise Cove on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean; the eight-acre bluff is aptly named Billionaires’ Row. (Their purchase beat out businessman Marc Andreessen’s previous real estate record of $177 million for the purchase of a Malibu home in 2021.) The Carters’ new home was designed by Japanese architect Tadao Ando, the same creative mind behind Kanye West’s minimalist Malibu mansion . It reportedly took the seller, renowned art collector Bill Bell and his wife Maria Bell, 15 years to complete construction on the property. Images reveal a stunning infinity pool that reflects the sky, large floor-to-ceiling windows, and of course, Ando’s trademark concrete angles and clean-lined exteriors. Celebrity realtor Kurt Rappaport of the Westside Estate Agency represented both the buyers and seller.
