Recent tour reviews
I had always heard Coldplay were a fantastic band to see live. They did not disappoint last night at Fedex Field, right in the midst of their joyous and decidedly over-the-top Head Full of Dreams tour.
The show began with an explosion of color and light (including the LED wristbands supplied to every concertgoer) in the titular track on the band's touring album. Then came fan-favorite "Yellow," followed by "Every Teardrop is a Waterfall," the ever-popular "The Scientist," and "Birds" (the latter was a bit of a personal disappointment as it replaced the brilliant "God Put a Smile Upon Your Face" from recent setlists). This part of the show finished with the anthem "Paradise," featuring an incredible remix outro.
Next the show slowed down for an intimate trio of songs (most of us actually took a seat). This included one of the better tracks from the sub-par "Ghost Stories", "Magic."
Soon, however, things picked up with the timeless piano strokes of "Clocks," themed to a magical red light show. Next came the lighthearted "Charlie Brown." Before it began, lead singer Chris Martin asked everyone to put away their phones and simply enjoy the show. This was followed by the radio hit "Hymn for the Weekend," a candlelit (okay...Iphone flashlight lit) "Fix You," and "Viva la Vida." This last one was remarkable, as nearly the entire stadium knew the lyrics and sang along to the triumphant "Oh-oh-ohhhh" chant. The groovy "Adventure of a Lifetime" finished off this section, featuring Chris gettin' down with the audience, asking everyone to "Get low!"
Then came the highlight of the night for me: an acoustic quad of older (*cough* better *cough*) Coldplay songs which were as intimate as they were nostalgic. The lovely riffs of "In my Place" started off the set. "Don't Panic" was sung by drummer Will Champion; it's one of my favorites. But it couldn't top what was (for me) the best song of the night: "Trouble." Somber but beautiful in its own way, "Trouble" is a rare find in the setlists of today's Coldplay and was absolutely fantastic. Finally came another rare gem: "Green Eyes," which was somewhat marred by Chris's well-intentioned attempt at giving the local Redskins some luck (HA! what folly) by changing the lyrics.
The finale of the show was the hopeful and popular trio of "Something Just like This," "A Sky Full of Stars," and "Up and Up." This last track was played against the backdrop of the magical and visually stunning music video for the song.
And if there were two adjectives to sum up the show as a whole, they would be just that: magical and visually stunning. Thanks for an awesome show, Coldplay!

First of all I need to just say wow! Wow! Yesterday I experienced one of the greatest nights of my life. Yesterday I really did feel like I was part of something special, something so big and beautiful. The love, the happiness and the excaitment people were feeling last night were something you can't put words on. We stood in the rain for so many hours, we sat in a que and then we stood in the rain again.. but let me just say that when Coldplay came on stage they put on the best god damn show ever. You could really feel their thankfulness during the show. They promised us (in Chris Martins own words) "The best fucking show ever" and let me tell you it was! During the night I got to experience people from different countries dancing and singing along together, I got to experience that moment when Chris decided to write a new song about Sweden and Gothenburg! The night was amazing in so many ways. And just as he said during the night, that he believes when people are working together and last night everybody in that arena stood together. We celebrated the music, the evening and most of all we celebrated the love. Because in the end of the day Love is what matters and it will always win.
Yesterday was beautiful, just pure beautiful!
A Coldplay concert is a real face to face experience for a someone who love their songs. It may not be an intimate experience but considering the legions of fans that they have only a concert can accommodate everyone who are waiting all their lives for a chance to hear them live. and they never disappoint. A total performance complete with lasers and light and firework BUT without much fanfare, just them singing & playing their hearts OUT song after song alone or in harmony with the fans some crying, most gleefully dancing to their upbeat song or swaying OR slow dancing to slow Fix You or Yellow and probably thinking of someone they "cannot replace". Chris Martin is an awesome guy and so are the rest of the band. May their personal lives be as awesome as their professional lives, they deserve that too. as to Singapore, it may not be as engaging as it would be in the Philippines but hey, no one can complain; i had the best time celebrating my birthday in one of the best stadium this side of town with around 50K Coldpay fans celebrating with me :) :). Long live Coldplay, may you continue to bring joy to you fans worldwide. Looking forward to another Coldplay concert experience in the future.

Coldplay is bringing its ‘Music of the Spheres World Tour’ to Asia
British rock band Coldplay has announced that it will be bringing its ongoing tour to a number of Asian countries starting November.
Rejoice, Coldplay fans, because these lights are certainly guiding the British rock band back to Asia . Their “Music of the Spheres World Tour”, which kicked off last year in March, will be making its first stop in Japan for the Asian leg of the tour in November .

Coldplay’s ‘Music of the Spheres World Tour’ is coming to Asia
Coldplay announced today that their “Music of the Spheres World Tour” will kick off in Asia on November 6 and 7 with Japan as their first location. They will then head to Taiwan, Australia, Indonesia, and Malaysia. For now, these are the locations they’ve announced, but we’re crossing our fingers that they include Bangkok soon.
The last time Coldplay was here was back in 2017 for their “Head Full of Dreams Tour”, which was held in Rajamangala Stadium. The nation was still in mourning after the passing of His Majesty the King, so Chris Martin dedicated a moving rendition of “Everglow” to him.
Aside from being the band’s first tour since the pandemic, the “Music of the Spheres World Tour” is also the first tour since the band decided to work out how their tours would be environmentally friendly. Reworking many aspects of their tour to lessen their carbon footprint, the band also pledged to plant a tree for every ticket sold.
While the band didn’t include Bangkok as one of its stops, that doesn’t mean we can hope/dream.

Here Are 20+ Times BTS And Coldplay Proved They Are Each Other’s Biggest Fans
BTS and British rock band Coldplay have long been fans of each other, but now they are true friends since working together for their collaboration single “My Universe!”
My universe!! #MyUniverse_ColdplayxBTS pic.twitter.com/bd0kCmnYuc — 방탄소년단 (@BTS_twt) September 24, 2021
While there are numerous moments where the groups have supported each other in some way, we have compiled some highlights. So. here are 20+ moments, in no particular order, where the groups showed true love and respect for each other, proving they are each other’s biggest fans…
1. When RM and J-Hope went to a Coldplay concert
Long before they met, the BTS members were fans of Coldplay. After their own 2017 Wings Tour , J-Hope and RM went to see Coldplay perform together, and J-Hope even shared a vlog , talking about how much the band’s concert inspired him.
I just watched the performance of an artist that I’ve liked since I was young, so I was able to gain energy from that. As it’s been a long time since Coldplay has had a performance, I went to watch it. — J-Hope
2. When V said he wanted to collaborate with Coldplay
Like J-Hope, V has been a fan of Coldplay forever. So, of course, anytime he would be asked if there was an artist he wanted to collaborate with, he always said Coldplay!
#Taehyung is living the dream 🪐 https://t.co/26g7UQGAgi — ColdplayXtra (@coldplayxtra) September 13, 2021
This successful fan’s dream has now finally come true!
3. When BTS asked to cover “Fix You,” and Coldplay gave them permission
Obviously, as fans of Coldplay, BTS hoped to cover one of their songs when MTV Unplugged gave them the opportunity. But it’s rare that anyone covers Coldplay songs, but it’s not because people don’t want to.
Coldplay’s lead singer Chris Martin once described their hit song “Fix You” as “probably the most important song we’ve ever written.” This song means a lot to the songwriters, so they rarely trust any artists to cover the song. Still, they trusted BTS enough to deliver the important message of “Fix You.”
4. When Coldplay shared their support for BTS’s cover online
Coldplay gave public approval of the “Fix You” cover by BTS by promoting it on all of their official social media accounts. They even shared a sweet message for the group, saying “beautiful” with love from Coldplay’s members in Korean.
5. When Chris Martin couldn’t stop singing their praises
In an interview with Most Requested Live , Chris Martin was asked if he would collaborate with BTS and he said he would like to (and successfully he now has)! He also couldn’t stop talking about how highly he thinks of him, revealing he is just as much a fan of theirs as they are of his.
I love the fact that they are so huge and sing a lot in Korean. They don’t always have to sing in English. …I love them a lot, and so if the right song came along, I wouldn’t ever say no. — Chris Martin
“I love that band…because first of all I love what they stand for as people and second, it just makes me so happy that the biggest act in the world is singing a lot in Korean.”— @coldplay about @BTS_twt pic.twitter.com/CE3GSEnmQi — bora ⛱ (slow) (@modooborahae) June 20, 2021
6. When Chris Martin shared that BTS’s “Butter” is one of his favorite songs
He included “Butter” in a list of songs that he either enjoyed or encouraged him through difficult times.

7. When he visited South Korea to meet them
Fans have been speculating months before “My Universe” was announced since Chris Martin visited South Korea this year. In September, they finally released photos and videos, showing that he truly did meet with the group for the collaboration!
There was a point where I was locked in a little hotel room, was like a cell & I was like; I have no idea what’s going to happen to me, I don’t understand what anyone says, but I hope I meet BTS tomorrow, and it happened. — Chris Martin to Apple Music

8. When Jin put a polaroid photo of himself with Chris Martin on his phone
A month before the news, Jin hinted at the collaboration with another music artist during a live broadcast as he showed ARMY his partially covered polaroid of himself with someone else. We know now that it was Chris Martin!
9. When Jin included Coldplay in his playlist
Besides his own group BTS, Coldplay is the other most frequently included music act in Jin’s Spotify playlist.
10. When Coldplay gifted BTS custom and signed merch and buttons
Not only did Chris wear a BTS hoodie, but several of the members were also seen to be wearing some custom Coldplay merch gifted to them.
Additionally, Chris gave them buttons from Love Button Global Movement , a meaningful nonprofit organization that he frequently promotes. Jin especially was excited about the gifts as he wore several buttons on his Coldplay hoodie!
11. When BTS gave Coldplay modernized hanboks
When Coldplay shared a group photo, fans recognized the modernized hanboks as having previously been items worn by BTS themselves.
❤️💙 @BTS_twt pic.twitter.com/iWrE5vQxXv — Coldplay (@coldplay) September 22, 2021
BTS also confirmed it by posting a photo by including Gaeryang Hanbok (modernized hanbok) in the caption.
My Universe Crew ! (+개량hanbok) @coldplay pic.twitter.com/iehFpP8bXx — 방탄소년단 (@BTS_twt) September 22, 2021
12. When Chris Martin explained he felt BTS belonged on “My Universe”
Chris Martin guested on The Kelly Clarkson Show for its Season 3 premiere and explained that the new single would be about crossing boundaries for love.
And we thought, it would be good to sing this with BTS because maybe we’re not supposed to be together. And it turned out to be one of the most fun things ever. I went to Korea to be with them, it’s been amazing. — Chris Martin
13. When Chris Martin sang in Korean when performing “My Universe”
Also on The Kelly Clarkson Show , he gave a preview of “My Universe.” Since he was doing both acoustic and without BTS, he partially sang in Korean.

14. When Chris Martin gave Jin his guitar
After a performance, Jin complimented Chris’s guitar, so Chris signed it, addressing it to “Worldwide Handsome,” and gave it to him. Jin said he will display it and keep it forever as a family heirloom!

This guitar is a gift from Chris Martin after the performance. I told him that his guitar looked cool and he gladly gave it to me. What an awesome friend! I’ll have to display it nicely at home, it’s going to be a family heirloom now. Thank you, Martin! — Jin
15. When Chris Martin and BTS recorded together
It’s not often anymore you see two artists recording their parts together for a collab, so this was a touching moment! Not only that, but RM shared a clip of himself recording with Chris on Twitter, saying that it “was so much fun…”
was so much fun… pic.twitter.com/vVFUdluGDO — 방탄소년단 (@BTS_twt) September 24, 2021
Chris also recorded with the rest of the group for the chorus, and both bands shared behind-the-scenes clips from the recording session.
16. When Coldplay wrote this super detailed description for BTS
In the description of Coldplay and BTS’s lyric video for “My Universe,” they included an about section for BTS for new fans, showing how much they respect them.
17. When Coldplay shared posts about BTS attending the 76th United Nations General Assembly
They are truly proud friends!
18. When Chris Martin interviewed BTS
Even before “My Universe” was announced but was in the works, Chris Martin interviewed BTS for YouTube . It was also one of the most respectful interviews as Chris showed he truly was a fan who knew and respected BTS’s work.
19. When Coldplay included everyone’s handwriting for “My Universe.”
All the members ‘ handwritten lyrics are included in both the lyric video and the inside of the physical album for the single.

21. When Chris described their collaboration as a “joy”
When Chris Martin talked to Zane Lowe from Apple Music 1 , he couldn’t stop gushing about BTS. He said that the whole process for “My Universe” has been a “joy.”
I love them, and we love them, and it’s been such a joy. It’s something you could look at so cynically, and we have at times, but anytime there’s actual communication or music between us, it just feels so good. — Chris Martin
For the song originally written for BTS, he described feeling so grateful that he could do it with the group.
So, I unabashedly and unashamedly feel really grateful for the song, grateful for the person that inspired the song, and grateful for the people we sing it with. — Chris Martin
