Mediocre cruise
May 7th, 2024
For the cost of execursions offered, the should have better tours. It was not our first time to visit the Pacific Northwest so we knew what we should be doing and expecting on the tours offered. It was a shame that the tours were cut short even though the princess staff kept announcing this would not happen as it was under princess contract to let us have the whole time. We also did spa treatments of acupuncture which was paid for in advance, then they charged us and said it was different from the cruise ship. They also charged $45 to flip on a red light which they did not tell us about and put a gratuity on that charge of 8.00! Outrageous! Always check your bill as mistakes happen with everyone having medallions that read everywhere you go.

Excellent Cruise on the Crown

Relaxing, decadent, spoiled, well cared for, fantastic conversations with new friends, magical evenings, delicious meals all the time. We love cruising and appreciate all the service on Princess!
Loved cruising around Hawaii, but too many sea days for me
May 4th, 2024
Overall I loved the Hawaiian Islands and wished that there had been more stops. What I didn't like was the lousy weather from San Francisco to Hawaii--it was rainy and windy and the outside of the ship was pretty much unusable for 5 days. On the Crown Princess there are like 5 outside pools--many of the activities planned are based on being outside--there is no solarium or really any space for sitting outside and watching the ocean go by--well except for Skywalkers lounge (closed during our trip due to the sound system being broken) and except for the LIDO--which you hate to use during meal times because people were already having trouble finding seats. I think that had we been leaving from Los Angeles or San Diego--the weather likely would have been warmer and then I would have enjoyed lounging outside in the sun. I just don't think that Princess plans enough indoor activities to keep many people busy. Of course the casino is available, which we love, but it was pretty busy--getting a spot on a table was impossible many days. The other interesting thing about this cruise was how grumpy the other passengers were. I wasn't enthralled by the food--but I kept my opinion to myself. Others were walking around opening complaining for everyone to hear--using language that a sailor would have been embarrassed by. Since this was a January cruise right after New Years--I believe that the cruise was heavily discounted--maybe this attracted a clientele that don't often cruise that were very disappointed. I'm really not sure. One other odd thing happened on the cruise. After we departed from Kona about 1 1/2 hours had passed and all of a sudden we see the lights of Kona again. We could tell on the Cruisemapper app that the ship had turned around and was approaching Kona. There was no announcement from the Captain. Was there an emergency on board? Usually when the ship changes course for a medical emergency there is an announcement. Pretty soon the ship stopped and a tender was lowered and the tender motored towards the city. 20 minutes later the tender returned and docked with the ship. Out came about 8 people that we presumed were police dressed in fatigues and uniforms holding firearms and batons. 10 minutes later they reboarded the tender with a gentleman that was handcuffed. The next morning the captain said in his announcement that someone had to urgently leave the ship. Personally I think an announcement should have been made--it wasn't so late (9PM) that it would have bothered anyone and it would have dispelled the wild rumors being circulated on the ship. The trip from Hawaii to Ensenada was warmer than the outgoing trip--which was much appreciated--I just didn't think that there was enough being offered to keep passengers busy.
A great cruise
May 3rd, 2024
We had a good time and glad that we did this itinerary which we have never done before. It was a wonderful experience just to sail out of San Francisco. My husband and I came in 2 days earlier so we could do things in San Francisco and we went to fisherman's wharf and the next day we went to the San Francisco Zoo. The next day on April 20th was our cruise. The ship was nice. The layout was different. You had to go from one end to the other to get to another place. If you wanted to go to the buffet you had to go to another elevator to go up. If you didn't want to go outside. The salty dog Cafe was nice just to have some kind of different food and the buffet they had stuff. It's not big. But there was things to eat. The main dining room. I'm sorry to say there was absolutely nothing that we could eat and if other people enjoy that type of food that was up to them but it didn't have the cowboy steak that we ate and it was a shame because we really like eating in the main dining room and they had all this exotic food. I will. The waiter and Junior waiter were very nice and very attentive. The teamm ates who worked in the buffet were wonderful and did a job well done. If I needed help with something they would help me if I wanted something to drink. I have the soda package. They would tell the waiter and they got me the soda. I must say that it really was a nice cruise.
Fun one week cruise

Good cruise for the money. Please do something about the ventilation in the casino or prohibit smoking in the interior of the ship totally. Smoke and odor goes almost into the Princess theater. Normally we wold have gambled but could not even go in for a few minutes. Passengers from the casino carry the odor and the elevator ride very unpleasant
We adopted our cabin steward!
This was my first cruise on Princess and loved it. The ship was beautiful and comfortable, shipmates were interesting and inspirational. Many had taken NUMEROUS cruises on Princess. Our cabin steward was a delight and felt like family by the end of the cruise. Disembarking was easy with lots of help and we are looking forward to our next trip with Princess.

California coastal cruise
Trip overall was good, but we like the regal princess ship better than the crown princess. The ship layout was hard to learn in comparison, shop selection was underwhelming, and food options not as good. Also too cold for the pool so we were glad we brought card games to play!

Great cruise as long as you realize it's 16 nights and the age average is around 65 so activities and entertainment seemed to be set up mostly around this age group.

Just received this information from Princess about the December 12 10-day Mexican Riviera cruise out of SF.
IMPORTANT NOTICES
DELAYED EMBARKATION
Please be advised that due to an increased amount of silt buildup at our assigned cruise berth and severe low spring tidal levels in San Francisco Bay, Crown Princess will not have the necessary under-keel clearance necessary to berth on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, in the early afternoon. As a result, your embarkation has been delayed. Check-in will begin at 6:30 PM on Tuesday, December 12, and embarkation will begin at 8:30 PM. Please do not arrive early as seating in the terminal is limited. Guests who arrive early may leave their luggage and enjoy the surrounding area. All guests must be aboard by 10:30 PM.
Please keep any essential items such as passports and other travel documents, medication, baby formula, and pajamas in your carry-on baggage as checked luggage will be delivered to staterooms late at night.
In recognition of the delayed start to your cruise and to offset any expenses you may incur due to the delay, all guests will receive a $25 onboard credit.
Thank you for your attention to this notification.

We were able to move our checkout time from the hotel to 1:00pm, not much but better. Weather looks to be in the high 50's, partly cloudy. At least it doesn't show rain 🙂

We changed our train tickets. Was scheduled to be in the City by 11am. Now we’re arriving around 9 pm.

That timing would make me a little nervous in December for trains. We have already had delays here in Oregon due to weather

Always nervous when traveling by train! We’re in the East Bay so our train ride is only one hour. If necessary, we’ll Uber in or drive depending on the train status when we’re ready to board the train.
Wow, not only does this change plans for everyone boarding but, think about all the disembarking passengers missing flight home.
At lease everyone has a 2 day notice to make changes.

The people disembarking in the morning of December 12th will still do so. They will be off before the very low tide apparently. When the tide comes back up the embarking folks will board as described in the post above.
What a hassle for everyone. Looks like the port of San Francisco needs to get a dredger out there ASAP!!
Good luck everyone and have a great cruise to Mexico!
Has there been any word on revision to the transfer bus schedule from SFO airport to the ship? All information on the Princess web site points to transfer buses starting at 10:30AM.

Ok do you are on BART not Amtrak. I had thought you were coming from further away

If it was me, I'd go early, drop off my luggage, and then go tour Alcatraz island. There is a lot to do in the Embarcadero besides that but I love Alcatraz. 😄 There is also the Walt Disney Family Museum about 15 minutes away and Fisherman's Wharf right there.

So, I couldn't change my flight. Going to be in the city by noon. Where are we suppose to leave our luggage until embarkation. If the passengers demarcation is occurring on the morning of Tues Dec 12, 2023 then why can't the embarkation still occur at the normal time? Let the passengers on and don’t sail until 2230hrs. Why make us wait in the cold in SF.
NightReader
I've been wondering the same thing. Have you found an answer? My travel agent said to go at 10 and drop off luggage at terminal and enjoy the piers but stay close...
Nope yours is the first response. Drop off luggage at terminal? Is that with the porters? It's going to be cold by the water and I hope they'll allow us to board instead of hanging out by the pier. I'm from the Bay Area and hanging out before boarding is not something I want to do.

My understanding is immediately after disembarkation, the ship will move to deeper anchorage until at least 6:30pm. They've told existing passengers who are continuing on that they can leave the ship, but if they don't return by 11:30 a.m. they will not be able to reboard until 8:30 at earliest.
Okay. SMH. I have been cruising since 1999 and have never had this happen. Yes this is my very 1st time leaving from SF port. Oh well it is what it is and I'll have to figure out how to occupy 8hrs in SF. I don't want to be in SF for that length of time. 😔 . I'm hoping to be in the terminal relaxing. Thanks for the info
I saw on the news that they set up a lounge for people who came early to hang out, if they didn't want to go touristing to fill the time.

This may sound really stupid but why couldn’t they have done regular checkin then tender people to the ship in the bay so they could have cocktails and dinner and come back to the pier for luggage

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but neither Pier 27 or 35 have docks that can accommodate tendering.
It looked like the ship was in the anchorage south of the Bay Bridge, which is probably 4 to 5 miles from Pier 27. In addition, the area between Pier 27 and the bridge has lots of ferry traffic. Can’t imagine they would want or could run tenders in that scenario.

I can understand not wanting to roam the city to fill the time. San Francisco used to be one of our favourite cities, but we were there last year and I'm sad to say it has really gone downhill. Don't think we will be going back.
Stuff happens. Being in SF instead of on a ship is a blessing, I'd think, as in Seattle. Miami evidently closed its port entirely this weekend due to storms. My weirdest freak disembarkation delay was due to a HAL ship being surrounded by ecoprotesters in Kiel, Germany in rubber rafts and kayaks, so the ship was delayed for 8 hours or so, until the kids got bored and paddled home. Arrival was delayed by 5 hours or so, so those without HAL flights were on their own.

Princess Cruises Announces Revised 2025 World Cruise Itineraries
Uncertainties in the red sea and surrounding region prompts rerouting of global voyages.
By downloading this image you agree to the Princess asset use terms and conditions
SANTA CLARITA, Calif., (April 30, 2024) – Given the ongoing situation in the Red Sea and surrounding area and following extensive consultation with global security experts and government authorities, Princess Cruises is revising the itineraries for its two 2025 World Cruises, which will no longer visit the Middle East or Asia, and now instead, will offer new port stops in Africa and Europe.
“A Princess World Cruise is truly the voyage of a lifetime and after careful consideration with guidance from global security experts and government authorities, we know our guests will understand and appreciate the change to our upcoming 2025 itineraries to avoid certain areas,” said Terry Thornton, chief commercial officer of Princess Cruises. “These global events beyond our control have necessitated these reroutings but we are pleased to continue to ensure these world cruises retain destination-rich itineraries with incredible stops along the west Africa coast and the Mediterranean.”
Island Princess World Cruise
Sailing from North America on Island Princess, the 116-day World Cruise offers two roundtrip options with departures from both Ft. Lauderdale, embarking January 5, 2025, and Los Angeles on January 20, 2025, and ends in Los Angeles on May 17, 2025. This destination dreamers delight will traverse over 36,700 nautical miles, visiting 46 destinations in 24 countries and six continents. The voyage includes visits to historic Bar, Montenegro and Taranto, Italy, along with inaugural World Cruise calls to the idyllic Greek Island of Patmos and to Volos – for the Monasteries of Meteora.
The revised World Cruise itinerary, from February 16-April 9, departs Sydney and will travel to Melbourne and Perth, then on to South Africa. From there, the cruise resumes the scheduled itinerary starting in Valletta, Malta on April 9.
Following is the amended portion of the voyage:
Those guests scheduled to originally depart or join the cruise from Dubai on March 14, 2025, will now embark or disembark four days earlier on March 9, in Cape Town, South Africa. Booked guests disembarking in Cape Town will be refunded the amount equivalent to four days of the cruise fare and those joining earlier will not incur an added cost to their cruise fare. All these guests will also receive a $300 onboard credit as a gesture of good will.
Crown Princess World Cruise
Departing from Down Under, Crown Princess - the largest ship to ever host a World Cruise - is scheduled to depart Auckland May 31, 2025; and Sydney June 4, 2025; and sail on a 113-day adventure visiting 42 destinations in 22 countries, across five continents. This cruise will also bypass the Red Sea and surrounding region, including the transit of the Suez Canal. The ship will travel via Africa instead of the Red Sea and Asia itinerary. The fully revised itinerary is currently being finalized and will be communicated shortly.

Princess is launching an all-inclusive, 4-month, around-the-world cruise for $20,000— see what it'll be like
Posted: May 4, 2024 | Last updated: May 4, 2024
- Princess Cruises announced a 114-day world cruise to 52 destinations in 2026, starting at $20,000 per person.
- Guests who book early would get a free, all-inclusive package, a first for Princess' global itineraries.
- Extended and all-inclusive cruises have emerged as big trends in the vacation industry.
Princess Cruise's new around-the-world voyage will hit two vacation trends in one itinerary.
In January 2026, the company says its Coral Princess will embark on a 114-day cruise to 52 ports in 28 countries and six continents — more destinations than any of its previous global sailings .
It's the Carnival Corp brand's latest appeal to the extended cruising trend . But it's not the only fad this four-month vacation is targeting.
The sailing, which starts at $20,000 per person, also marks the first time Princess is offering a complimentary all-inclusive package as a way to entice early bookings.
Ultra-long and all-inclusive cruises have emerged as big trends in the industry.
Regent Seven Seas, Azamara, and Oceania's 2024 around-the-world cruises all sold out before departing in January. The former was fully booked within three hours, while every cabin on the latter was called for in 30 minutes.
Besides being high-end, these three companies share one commonality: some level of all-inclusiveness , as is common with premium cruise lines.
Mass-market cruise companies rarely go the all-inclusive route.
Princess, Royal Caribbean, and Norwegian are generally beloved for their affordability.
But if you want to experience all their ships have to offer, be prepared to face a list of up-charged amenities like pay-to-play rides and specialty restaurants . After all, there's a reason their base fares are much cheaper than their increasingly popular ultra-luxury, all-inclusive counterparts.
But Princess has been increasingly vying for a slice of the luxury cruiser pie.
The cruise line says guests who book its 2026 world cruise early (that is, by the end of October) will receive its most inclusive Princess Premier package for free. The perk — launched two years ago — covers amenities that typically have a fee, like WiFi, premium drinks, some specialty restaurants, and workout classes.
Travelers who reserve one of the ship's high-end cabins by the same deadline would also receive complimentary airport transfers and airfare, services normally exclusively offered by luxury cruise lines .
The itinerary would have two roundtrip embarkation options: Fort. Lauderdale, Florida, on January 5, 2026, or Los Angeles 16 days later.
From there, the 2,000-guest Coral Princess would sail more than 35,000 nautical miles to ports in North America, the Pacific Islands, New Zealand and Australia, Asia, the Mediterranean, Europe, and Central and South America.
It wouldn't be Princess' longest voyage — that title goes to its 116-day world cruise in 2025 — but it would be one of its most destination-heavy.
While two days longer, next year's around-the-world cruise would hit six fewer ports and four fewer countries than its 2026 counterpart.
According to the itinerary, about half of the 2026 voyage consists of sea days.
That's a lot of time on the water with no land in sight. Luckily, travelers can keep themselves entertained by attending lectures and programs related to the destinations, leisuring around the adult-only lounge, or taking a dip in Coral Princess' four pools.
The 21-year-old ship also has 10 places to grab a bite, although the Italian and steakhouse restaurants are considered specialty. Premier is the cruise line's most inclusive package, but it only includes 16 free dinners at these upcharge restaurants, paced once a week.
Princess is still a mass-market cruise line, after all.
The company has been increasingly dangling its inclusive package as a big perk.
The company says its two-month-old Sun Princess will debut in the US in October with its first-ever Sanctuary Collection . Travelers who splurge on these expensive and luxurious accommodations would be rewarded with two major benefits: a private lounge and Princess Premier.
