*Note: Alabama State University is a test-optional institution. See the table below to determine your placement level. Although we have waived test scores for admission to the University, th e waiver does not apply to students seeking academic scholarships .
Admissions Requirements
BEGINNING FRESHMEN
Applicants who have earned a diploma from any high school and who meet the requirements in the sliding scale below (or GED certificate) who demonstrate that they can benefit from and contribute to the University’s educational program and goals will be fully admitted to the University.
Applicants who do not meet regular admission requirements may be admitted to the University’s Tier II or Tier III (Summer Bridge) if they fall within the category listed below. Students who do not meet regular, Tier II, or Tier III admissions will be denied admission.

Whether you’re a prospective student considering a visit to alabama state university as part of your college search or a community member attending an event on our campus, we’ll do everything possible to make your visit a rewarding experience..
Spring campus tours are offered Monday through Friday at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., or 3 p.m. Tours must be scheduled at least 72 hours in advance.

Advanced Placement
If you score a 3, 4 or 5 on advanced placement (AP) exams and you have a minimum GPA of 3.0, you may qualify for course credit or advanced placement. To be considered, send all AP test scores to the Office of Admissions & Recruitment during the application process.
Special Admissions
If you’re interested in taking classes at ASU but don’t want to get your degree, you can apply for admission as a special student. To do so, you must:

UPDATE: Mississippi Highway Patrol now says charter bus involved in crash was carrying University of South Carolina students, not South Alabama students
UPDATE: The Mississippi Highway Patrol corrects earlier report of who was on the bus involved in interstate crash.
HANCOCK, MS. ( WALA ) - A charter bus carrying students from the University of South Carolina to New Orleans was involved in an accident on I-10 in Mississippi, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
The crash happened in Hancock at mile marker 13 and the injury report so far said two are being flown to an area trauma center, Acadian sent three units, two were cancelled and Acadian sent 2 helicopters.

Before Heading to the games at State Farm Stadium on April 6 and 8, we invite you to make a pitstop at the Men's Final Four Tip-off Tailgate presented by Nissan. Fans can enjoy free team pep rallies, musical performances, basketball-themed games, plus food and beverages. Tip-Off Tailgate, presented by Nissan, is also open on Friday, April 5, for Reese's Final Four Friday. We encourage all attendees to drop by and partake in the festivities. It's a pre-game celebration you won't want to miss!
