I WANTED to like it!

I wanted to like it, but too frequently, I click on the App and Its prompting me to re-enter everything: where I've travelled, where I live and desired destinations ... ALL OVER AGAIN!!! Soooooo frustrating! And quite frankly, it doesn't DO ALL that much!!! You choose the countries, the states, if you live in the US, some color selections and that's it!!!! That's all you have to input!!! So, Why can't it retain that little information???? And in return it displays where you've been displayed on a world map, the percentage of the world you've seen and where you rank amongst other users. So you know want to know where this APP Ranks??? A (2)!!! Visiting new destinations is supposed to be exciting! How is that reflected in this App? What is the point if you're more frustrated using this app than going through TSA!

Developer Response ,

We are sorry for the frustration! We have launched a new version of the app that not only fixes the issues mentioned but also comes with new features such as cities, regions, and travel inspirations (to name a few!). Please let us know if you have any other feedback by emailing us at [email protected]!

Good idea but…

This is a good app and I even paid to remove ads and to unlock all the features. HOWEVER, it needs to give more control to the user. They collect so much of your personal information. It’s like either use it and let us collect these information, or leave it. Also, I was forced to sign up to their newsletter. It said I can withdraw from their newsletter at anytime but there is no option for that in the map. I paid for the premium features but you know what? Don’t. None of the premium features were worth it. Let me start off by cities. You can type and choose the cities that you’ve been to and cities that you want to visit. But that is it. You can’t even see a list of those cities that you want to visit, let alone a map of it. Looks like they made it easy for them to collect our information. Inspiration doesn’t have anything. It said it would show travel photos. The only photo it shows is the thumbnail when you select from want/been. If you do download this app, please do go to privacy section and read the “What personal information do we collect?” Section. So far, what a waste of money it has been. If it gets improved, I will update my review.
Thank you for your feedback. We are apologizing for any issues you may have had with the app. Please email us at [email protected] so we can see how we can improve your experience with the app.

Essential travel app

Every traveler should have this app to track countries visited. I’ve been using it for a few years now and seen it progress in features and usability. I love the latest enhancements, particularly new countries with states. But there are additional enhancements that I’d like the developers to consider. Here are my top 3: 1. Small countries are really hard to see on the map right now. Can you make it easier? For example, Liechtenstein gets lost between all of the states. And Pitcairn is nearly impossible, at least for me, to find without using the search feature. 2. Dates of visit would be nice 3. Ability to export the list to a spreadsheet. Bugs? There are a couple but nothing really significant, e.g. South Georgia and South Sandwich are not in Europe. There may have been a conversion bug as my list of countries went from 60 to 58. I reviewed and updated it and it’s now back to 60. Overall, a great app, worthy of of 5 stars!
Thank you so much for helping us improve our app. We have added your suggestions to our "enhance" list. We wish there were more feedbacks like yours. Your help is truly appreciated. Happy travels!

Classic World Map

Personalization.

For the world explorer, business traveler or backpack enthusiast, The Times pushpin classic world map allows you to chart your past and future adventures. The exclusive map, in a 24” x 36” solid black wood frame, displays your name and comes with 100 pushpins.

“What is it about maps that we find so fascinating?” The Times has written. “Ever since the Babylonians scratched two parallel lines and a circle — representing the Euphrates River and their walled capital — on a clay tablet almost 3,000 years ago, we humans have been producing flat spatial imagery to locate our place in the world. Maps anchor us, give coherence to our environment, help make visual sense of otherwise intangible realities.”

Our full color world map is like your own Times Travel Section. It serves as a portal to your past, a record of memories or a to-do-list of adventures yet to be had, for you to display proudly on your wall.

Simply mark the destinations of your life with a pin, and watch as the world is dotted by your memories: cross-country road trips, backpacking through Europe or the thrill of that African safari. The map, created with New York Times fonts, is a way to keep track of your global adventures, mark the locations of friends and family, or pin the destinations you hope to someday reach—and it enhances your home as a handsome wall display at the same time.

This foam-core map is professionally finished in a black wooden frame that comes ready to hang.

The map’s lower left-hand corner comes personalized. Specify up to 30 characters of your choice, including your first or last name and a title. Popular personalization styles include: The Robinson Family Adventures, Mary and Bob’s Travels, The Smith Family’s Journeys or Michael Jones World Traveler.

How to mark locations on the map in Dragon's Dogma 2

T he world of Dragon's Dogma 2 is vast, and you'll often want to mark locations on the map. This could be for any number of reasons - you may have quest objectives to return to, or items that you want to come back and pick up in a little while. After all, fruits in the wild do respawn, so you may want to pick up more if the ones on hand become rotten. No matter what the reason, it's an important feature to be aware of.

Marking locations on the map in Dragon's Dogma 2 will be a great way to help remember what you were doing, or plan to do in the future. Simply returning to a spot on the map may jog your memory, so placing a marker isn't a bad idea. Let's dive into this, and figure it out.

Using the mark locations feature in Dragon's Dogma 2

One of the most useful functions for players of all skill levels in Dragon's Dogma 2 is marking locations on your map. Whether in a village, or in the rolling plains and hills you'll traverse, it's always good to have an idea of where you're going. Sure, the game gives you an indicator of were your current main story objective is, but that's not always enough.

A friend may point out a hidden item or treasure chest that you aren't aware of - instead of trying to navigate there blindly, set a marker out, and travel to that. Doing this is incredibly simple. Just open up your map, and press R3 on your controller wherever you want the marker to go in Dragon's Dogma 2.

You can set up to five of these in the world at a time, and unlike other games - such as Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth - walking onto these spots does not remove them from your map/mini-map. If you want to remove the I-V roman numerals that denote your map locations, press R3 again.

Should you want to replace one of the current numbers in a new spot, simply select it, and select "Replace." You can also select "Erase" to permanently remove them as well. It's also worth noting that if you place a marker in a town, and try to set that number somewhere else in the world, it'll ask if you want to replace it. You cannot have two sets of the same numbered location pinned on the map.

Check out our Dragon's Dogma 2 review for more information on the game. The title is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PCs.

Casey DeFreitas Avatar

The world of Dragon's Dogma 2 is sprawling and dense, with hundreds of materials, chests, secrets, and much, much more to find as you explore. Luckily, we have an interactive map for Dragon's Dogma 2 to show you locations for spots to rest, Seeker's Tokens, Ferrystones, Portcrystals, and more.

Click here for the Dragon's Dogma 2 interactive map!

 • The starting area is filled out robustly, but the Dragon's Dogma 2 interactive map is still a work in progress, so check back often for more updates!

The map in Dragon's Dogma 2 is quite large, and our interactive map also includes maps for caves and interiors as well. Click on the arrow and door icon to see what map that cluster is for. We've also cataloged many locations of collectibles, quests, and important items in our Dragon's Dogma 2 wiki guide:

 • Golden Trove Beetles
 • Seeker's Tokens
 • Portcrystals
 • Ferrystones
 • Wakestones and Wakestone Shards
 • Side Quests

Plus, keep track of everything you've collected and completed so far with our useful checklists that sync to your IGN account, so you'll never find yourself backtracking unnecessarily to check if you actually opened that one chest or not. If you want a guide to help you through the story, check out our Dragon's Dogma 2 walkthrough .

As we said, this interactive map is a work in progress, so check back for even more soon!

Where is the Francis Scott Key Bridge? What to know about collapsed Baltimore bridge

The collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge , a major transportation link in the Baltimore area, sparked a massive search and rescue effort early Tuesday morning.

The bridge has been a critical transportation passageway along the East Coast for decades. Video captured the collapse , after Singapore-flagged container ship, the Dali, collided with one of the bridge's pillars.

The ship had caught fire, and several vehicles fell into the river below.

Here's what to know about the Francis Scott Key Bridge.

Follow here for live updates → Baltimore's Key Bridge collapses after ship collision; rescue effort underway

Where is the Francis Scott Key Bridge located?

The bridge crosses over the Patapsco River on I-695 and is the final link on the Baltimore Beltway, according to the Maryland Transportation Authority .

It is the outermost of the three tollways that cross Baltimore's Harbor.

How long is the Francis Scott Key Bridge?

The 4-lane bridge structure alone is 1.6 miles long. The facility also includes the Curtis Creek Drawbridge. Including approach roadways, the entire stretch is around 10.9 miles long, MDTA said.

Why did a ship hit the Francis Scott Key Bridge?

The ship, a container vessel chartered by Maersk, apparently lost power a few minutes before striking the bridge, a senior U.S. official told USA TODAY .

No Maersk crew or personnel were onboard the vessel when it struck the bridge, according to a statement from the company. It was operated by a charter company, Synergy Group, and owned by Grace Ocean Pte., based in Singapore, and ultimately bound for Sri Lanka.

Accidents like this, called Marine casualties, are not uncommon, the official told USA TODAY, with an allision (an immobile object being struck by a ship) occurring about every 10 years or so. Investigators will likely look into the cause of the power outage and whether there was a mechanical failure on the ship.

How old is the Key Bridge in Baltimore?

The Francis Scott Key Bridge opened in March 1977, according to the Maryland Transportation Authority .

What type of bridge is the Francis Scott Key?

The steel-arched bridge was the second-longest continuous-truss bridge span in the world when it was built and remains the second longest in the United States and third in the world, according to the American Civil Engineering Society .

When was the Francis Scott Key Bridge built?

Construction of the Francis Scott Key Bridge began in 1972.

Francis Scott Key Bridge has a deep history

According to the MDTA, the bridge crosses over the Patapsco River, near where Francis Scott Key, the bridge's namesake, was inspired to write the lyrics of the Star Spangled Banner.

Key is believed to have witnessed the bombardment of Fort McHenry on the night of Sept. 12, 1814, within 100 yards of the modern-day bridge. That battle is what inspired him to the national anthem.

How vital is the Francis Scott Key Bridge?

The bridge is critical to East Coast shipping. The port’s private and public terminals handled 847,158 autos and light trucks in 2023, the most of any U.S. port. The port also handles farm and construction machinery, sugar, gypsum and coal, according to a Maryland government website.

Maps of the April 2024 Total Solar Eclipse

By Jonathan Corum

On April 8, the moon will slip between the Earth and the sun, casting a shadow across a swath of North America: a total solar eclipse.

By cosmic coincidence, the moon and the sun appear roughly the same size in the sky. When the moon blocks the glare of the sun, the sun’s outer atmosphere, or corona, will be briefly visible.

Below are several maps of the eclipse’s path as well as images of what you might experience during the event.

Where Can I See the Total Eclipse?

The eclipse will begin at sunrise over the Pacific Ocean, then cut through Mexico and cross the United States from Texas to Maine. Most of North America will see a partial eclipse, but viewers within the deepest shadow — a band sliding from Mazatlán, Mexico, to the Newfoundland coast near Gander, Canada — will experience a total solar eclipse.

Viewers inside the path of the total eclipse may notice a drop in temperature , a lull or shift in the wind , the appearance of bright planets in the sky, and the quieting of birds and other wildlife.

Many cities lie inside the path of the total eclipse, as shown below, the width of which varies from 108 miles to 122 miles.

If the sky is clear, viewers in the path of the total eclipse should see a “diamond ring” effect a few seconds before and after the total eclipse, as the edge of the sun slips in and out of view.

The sun’s outer atmosphere, or corona, is normally hidden by the sun’s glare. These tendrils and sheets of gas, heated to a million degrees Fahrenheit or more, are in constant motion and shaped by the sun’s swirling magnetic field.

The sun is relatively active this year and is nearing the expected peak of its 11-year solar cycle . Researchers at Predictive Science are using data about the sun’s magnetic field to predict and model a dramatic corona for the April eclipse.

What Colors Should I Wear?

As the sky darkens, light-sensitive cells in human eyes become more sensitive to blue and green hues than to reds and oranges. This shift in color perception is known as the Purkinje effect , after a 19th-century Czech scientist, and is typically seen at twilight.

People watch the 2017 total eclipse at Southern Illinois University.

To take advantage of the Purkinje effect, wear green clothes or a contrasting combination of greens and reds. Blue-green colors (shorter wavelengths) will appear brighter, while red colors (longer wavelengths) will appear to recede into the darkness.

What If I Miss It?

The next two total solar eclipses in the United States won’t occur until 2044 and 2045 . But eclipse chasers might catch one in 2026 in Greenland, Iceland and Spain; 2027 along the coast of Northern Africa; 2028 in Australia and New Zealand; or 2030 across Southern Africa and Australia.

Romania and Bulgaria partially join Europe’s Schengen travel zone, but checks at land borders remain

Romania and Bulgaria partially joined Europe’s Schengen ID-check-free travel zone, marking a new step in the two countries’ integration with the European Union

SOFIA, Bulgaria -- Romania and Bulgaria partially joined Europe’s ID-check-free travel zone on Sunday, marking a new step in the two countries’ integration with the European Union.

After years of negotiations to join the Schengen area, there is now free access for travelers arriving by air or sea from both countries. However, land border checks will remain in place due to opposition primarily from Austria which has long blocked their bid over illegal migration concerns.

EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen hailed the change as a “huge success for both countries” and a “historic moment” for what is the world’s largest free travel zone.

The Schengen Area was established in 1985. Before Bulgaria and Romania’s admission, it was comprised of 23 of the 27 EU member countries, along with Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein. Around 3.5 million people cross an internal border each day.

Austria vetoed Romania and Bulgaria’s admission into the Schengen zone at the end of 2022 but allowed Croatia full accession. Bulgaria and Romania joined the EU in 2007 and Croatia in 2013.

Siegfried Muresan, a Romanian Member of the European Parliament, told The Associated Press that it is “an important first step” that will benefit millions of travelers annually.

“Bulgaria and Romania have been fulfilling all criteria for joining the Schengen area for years — we are entitled to join with the terrestrial border as well,” he said, adding that it “will offer additional arguments to the last EU member state that has been vetoing the full accession.”

Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu called it a “well-deserved achievement” for Romania that he said will benefit citizens who can travel more easily and will bolster the economy.

“We have a clear and firmly assumed government plan for full accession to the Schengen Area by the end of the year,” he said.

The EU’s executive branch, the European Commission, has said for more than a decade that Romania and Bulgaria both meet the technical criteria for full accession, which requires unanimous support from their partners. Both countries have agreed to implement random security screening at airports and maritime borders to combat illegal migration and cross-border crime.

“Bulgaria’s full accession to Schengen will happen by the end of 2024,” Kalin Stoyanov, Bulgaria's interior minister, told reporters on Sunday. “We showed and continue to show to illegal migrants that they should not take the road to Europe through Bulgaria."

The lifting of border control is expected to facilitate operations at Bulgaria’s four international airports, which in 2023 saw nearly 11 million passengers, according to official data.

The airport in the capital, Sofia, serves as the biggest hub for Schengen flights which constitute 70% of all flights, airport representatives said.

While the eased regulations are expected to positively impact the tourism sector, members of the European Parliament have voiced concerns about long queues at the EU’s land borders and the impact it can have on trade in the bloc’s single market, as well as the health and safety of drivers.

Truck drivers are frequently stuck in kilometers-long queues at the borders of both Romania and Bulgaria. The Union of International Carriers in Bulgaria estimates delays cost the sector tens of millions of euros each year.

McGrath reported from Sighisoara, Romania.
