Pictures of Yeezus: Here's What Kanye West Showed at New York Fashion Week

Yeezus 2 has come.

Kanye West presented his second-ever Yeezus collection only minutes ago, and it's what you might expect of West, based on his first collection .

Before heading to the clothes, let's talk Wests, Kardashians, Jenners, and little North! Kylie Jenner modeled for the second time in the Vanessa Beecroft-designed installation, where West himself walked up and down the rows of male and female models who stood perfectly still.

Kim Kardashian West was outfitted in a fitted flesh-tone jumpsuit with a duster on top. She brought along cute little North with her, who seemed to be wearing a mini-Yeezus look.

The whole gang showed up, including Kourtney Kardashian and Kendall Jenner, who must have teleported herself to the show, as only an hour earlier she closed Michael Kors (and NYC is basically grid-locked)!

West's designed seemed ripe for a desert warrior. Mesh bodysuits, cargo jackets, and utilitarian hooded jackets were complemented with extreme accessories, such as thigh-high boots. Take a look at the pix and we'll bring you more soon!

10 First Impressions from Opening Night of the "Yeezus" Tour

Find out all you need to know about Kanye West's new tour.

Image via Complex Original

Kanye West took the stage last night at the KeyArena in Seattle to kick off his much-anticipated " Yeezus " tour. His first solo trek since 2008's "Glow in the Dark" tour, which also started in Seattle, the concert was a momentous occasion for the Chicago MC. His latest album, Yeezus , topped our list of the best albums of 2013 so far, and with good reason. Forget Jimmy Kimmel and TMZ—Kanye is in his true element on stage, spreading his gospel one city at a time.

Of course, such a painstakingly detailed show doesn't come without hiccups. Doors were scheduled to open last nght at 6:30 p.m. sharp, but according to event staff, Kanye's stage was still being put together at that time. ( Mike Dean , producer, engineer and mixing extraordinaire for 'Ye, claimed  one of their trucks was stolen.) They finally opened the doors at 8:40 p.m., to the relieved applause of more than 15,000 cold and tired fans—and one eager Complex writer—looking to witness something special.

And we did, to a certain degree. Here are Complex's  10 First Impressions from Opening Night of the "Yeezus" Tour .

Kendrick Lamar opened the show, backed by a live band.

The Compton MC opened the show with a 40-minute set and performed a number of songs from good kid, m.A.A.d. City , along with a live band.

"Money Trees," "m.A.A.d city," "Swimming Pools," and "Backseat Freestyle" all got the love they deserved from the crowd as Kendrick kept the energy at a decent level while fans were still filing into the arena. Before he got into "Sing About Me," he stated, "This song is dedicated to the fallen soldiers." As Kube 93's DJ Hyphen pointed out, the set from Kendrick was similar to his performance at Bumbershoot last month in Seattle. Still a great performance though.

Kanye's stage design is as elaborate as you might expect.

Not Available Interstitial

The main stage featured a mountain about 50 feet or so high which many attendees immediately began calling "Mt. Yeezus." That mountain led to a triangular center stage where Kanye did most of his performance. The center stage elevated while Kanye performed a few songs, including "Coldest Winter."  There was also a walkway about 30 feet long between the mountain and center stage, vividly illuminated by lights throughout the night.

Right above the mountain was a circular projector angled just enough so fans in the nosebleed sections could get a closer look at Kanye onstage. A little over halfway through the night, the mountain split in half and acted as a corridor for Kanye. Considering there were more than a dozen semi-trucks parked outside of the venue that transported all the equipment, it's clear that Kanye and DONDA pulled out all the stops for this elaborate set design.

The tour merch is cool but expensive.

Not Available Interstitial

Kanye offers up quite a collection of merchandise for concert attendees. Items range from hats, Yeezus tour T-shirts and Confederate-flag(!) cloth bags, as well as skull-themed shirts that include slogans like "God wants you." Expect to pay $35-40 for a T-shirt or hat. Sorry, no leather jogging pants.

Kanye rocked Yeezys and brought back his masks.

I can't say that I'm well-versed in the fashion world, so I wouldn't be able to rattle off each designer Kanye was wearing throughout the night. (UPDATE: Turns out it was all Maison Martin Margiela , at least for Seattle.) Kanye rocked Red Yeezys and tan Yeezys, as well as his Margiela masks—one black and another white.

He opened with "On Sight" and closed with "Bound 2."

Considering this is the Yeezus  tour, it's no shock that Kanye performed every song from his latest studio album. He opened with "On Sight" and proceeded to run through Yeezus  with "Blood on the Leaves," "New Slaves" and the performance-closing "Bound 2." He also sprinkled in a number of records from albums past, including "Power," "Flashing Lights" and "Heartless."

At nearly 30 songs altogether, it was a fairly thorough run through Kanye's catalog. However, a few notable 'Ye records were excluded from the setlist. "Diamonds from Sierra Leone" and "Touch the Sky," both staples in his catalog, didn't get spotlighted here. He would also forgo "Monster," though quick verses from "Mercy" and "I Don't Like (Remix)" were enough to make up for this omission.

The two-hour show had its share of odd moments.

Kanye's performance lasted about two hours. That's either a good or bad thing. Yes, audience members were treated to more than their fair share of 'Ye's glowing presence, but they also had to sit through some odd interlude transitions. There were also moments where Kanye would lay on the stage and not get up until the next song came in. Maybe he was exhausted, maybe it was part of the act. Either way, Kanye lost some of the audience's energy.

Similarly, Kanye forgot quite a few of his lyrics when performing some of his older songs. Again, this may have been due to fatigue, but there were clear moments where he stopped rapping altogether on "Heard 'Em Say" and "I Wonder." On "Through the Wire," he didn't even rap at all and instead greeted fans that were near the center stage while the instrumental played. It made for an odd showing.

Kanye performing "Hey Mama" brings a LOT of emotion.

Not Available Interstitial

It's no secret that the death of Kanye's mother Donda West in 2007 has had a tremendous effect on his life. He made this clear during the show, during which he shared an emotional story about when he found out she passed away. Explaining that he had just gotten off a plane, Kanye recalls, "They told me that my mother was no longer here and I could never speak to her again." This led him into "Coldest Winter" off of 808s & Heartbreaks .

Later on, Kanye would attempt to perform "Hey Mama." However, before he could get a word off, he fell to his knees, mic in hand. It was a powerful moment, one that felt personal for Kanye for obvious reasons, but also for the crowd. Understanding the circumstances, they willed him back to his feet by cheering and singing the words he couldn't. While "Hey Mama" was ultimately never performed, what occurred onstage meant a lot more.

You can watch a short clip of "Hey Mama" here .

Kanye's female dancers have an important role.

Not Available Interstitial

The 12 female dancers, who Rob Markman from MTV perfectly dubbed Kanye's "disciples," played an integral role throughout his performance. They held him up in the air while he screamed out "God!" for "I Am A God" and showed off their choreographed moves during "Blood on the Leaves." They also created a circle on the stage floor around Kanye at the end of "I'm In It."

Yeezus brings out Jesus.

Not Available Interstitial

You read that right. Before Kanye West performed "Jesus Walks," he brought out a Jesus look-alike and had a playful conversation with him. The crowd certainly got a laugh out of it. Kanye asked: "White Jesus, is that you?" Oh, shit," before playfully apologizing for his language. Jesus then told 'Ye that he's not here to punish him, but to help him. As Jesus exited, the lights dimmed and "Jesus Walks" blared through the speakers as Kanye got into his 2004 hit single.

Jesus would later return at the end of the show, appearing at the top of the mountain. Kanye and the women performers onstage bowed to Jesus while the sample from "On Sight"—Holy Name of Mary Choral Family's "Sermon (He'll Give Us What We Really Need)"—looped until they walked off the stage and the show ended.

"If you love somebody tonight, hold on."

Not Available Interstitial

No Kanye West show would be complete without some insightful proclamations. On the outro of "Blood on the Leaves," he told audience members, "You are the future—don't let them enslave you," later adding a call to "live to the fullest." He also stated, "You got the power. It's our now. You got the power now."

At the end of "Runaway"—where he played a bit on the MPC 2000XL—Kanye announced, "If you love somebody tonight, hold on. You may not be perfect, but you're perfect for me." We feel the same, 'Ye.

Kanye West 'Yeezus' Tour Memorabilia [Photos]

Kanye West ‘s Yeezus Tour has begun and everybody is of course, chatting about his antics on stage. West has embarked on his first solo tour in five years, bringing along hip-hop’s top dawg Kendrick Lamar. Despite cancelling their stop in Vancouver over the weekend, fans were able to catch a glimpse of the artistic stage settings, Yeezy’s unique wardrobe and biblical guests on opening night in Seattle, WA.

Images of Yeezus Tour merchandise has also recently surfaced, depicting skeletons draped in confederate flags and kneeling before God. The pictures were crafted by famed artist Wes Lang, who’s skull and bones drawings have appeared in galleries and on a variety of garbs. Whether Lang is a member of West’s creative agency Donda and how much the memorabilia is selling for at shows is currently unknown. Check out more pics in the gallery above!

By Erin Coulehan

Erin Coulehan

Kanye West is taking Yeezus on the road this fall with a seven-week North American tour simply dubbed “The Yeezus Tour.” The run kicks off in Seattle starting October 19th and marks West’s first major return to the road since 2011’s Watch the Throne tour with Jay Z. Kendrick Lamar will support most dates.

Reader’s Poll: The 10 Best Kanye West Songs

“The Yeezus Tour” will mark the first time fans get to hear a bulk of the rapper’s critically acclaimed material in a live setting, but that’s not to say he hasn’t been prepping for the moment. West made headlines earlier this week for performing last weekend in Kazakhstan at a wedding of the Kazakhstan president’s grandson. He appeared at the MTV VMA Awards last month and delivered a hallowed  performance of “Blood on the Leaves”  and in May, performed “Black Skinhead” and “New Slaves” on the season finale of Saturday Night Live .

Tickets go on sale on September 13th.

Kanye West’s Yeezus tour features 27-song setlist, giant mountain, Jesus Christ look-alike

Kanye West kicked off his Yeezus world tour in Seattle on Saturday night. According to reports on Twitter and Kanye To The , he played a 27-song, two-hour set which encompassed material from his entire discography. Included were the live debuts of Yeezus tracks “Hold My Liquor, “I’m In It”, and “Guilt Trip”, in addition to “Street Lights” from 808s and Heartbreak . He closed his show with the dynamic one-two-three-four punch of “Jesus Walks” into “Flashing Lights” into “All of the Lights” into “Bound 2”.

The stage design included a giant mountain on which Kanye rapped from. An equally massive video screen above the mountain flashed elaborate visuals, including animations of the rapper. He was frequently joined by a group of backing dancers, and at one point, a Jesus Christ look-alike also took the stage alongside Yeezus.

It’s worth noting that the show began two hours later, reportedly due to an equipment truck being stolen. Kendrick Lamar served as opener and performed a nine-song set .

Review: Kanye West's 'Yeezus' tour at the Wells Fargo Center

Kanye West stood on the Wells Fargo Center stage Saturday night with his face covered by a stylish executioner's mask that made him look like a high couture Mexican wrestler, and attempted to explain himself. In so doing about two-thirds of the way through his grueling, boldly unorthodox 2 hour and 20 minute 'Yeezus' tour, the proudly provocative rapper, producer and fast food eater - he had dinner at Wendy's on 15th and Chestnut with fiancee Kim Kardashian on Friday - talked about "the Willie Lynch theory" of keeping African Americans in order by punishing them in public.   "They beat that slave till he behave," West said during an improvised interlude in "Runaway," from his 2010 maximalist masterwork My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. "But I don't want to behave. I just want to be me." By any measure, he succeeds in that endeavor. Just as Yeezus , the album, ignored commercial considerations  by valuing noise over rhythm or melody, the Yeezus tour largely put aside crowd pleasing conventions in order to pursue its auteur's peculiar vision. Love him or hate him, Kanye is relentlessly committed to being true to Kanye.     Opening up with a barrage of confrontational Yeezus assaults - "On Sight," "New Slaves," "Send It Up" - West came out swinging in the first date of the tour since several shows were canceled or postponed after the stage set was damaged in a truck accident. Dressed like a Roman gladiator, he wore a bejeweled mask that was the first of four head coverings he would don throughout the evening.  He was frequently joined by up to a dozen women dressed in nude body suits or flowing robes, flanking him in eerie processionals on the arrowhead shaped stage which extended onto the floor of the not sold-out house. He had other companions - a red eyed Yeti for one song, and for "Jesus Walks," an actor dressed as the son of God for a Yeezus-meets-Jesus moment which finally enticed West to pull off his balaclava and meet his audience's gaze. And besides the rapper himself, the other big star in the room was a faux Himalayan peak that reached to the Wells Fargo rafters, brazenly begging comparison to Spinal Tap's Stonehenge. The concert-cum-performance art piece was organized into five sections: Fighting, Rising, Falling, Searching and Finding, as our hero sought meaning in a mythological landscape, rife with Biblical symbolism. Those with the patience of Job - in my section, several people walked out before the finish - would watch as his faith was eventually restored: The concert ended with West and companions kneeling on stage, gazing upwards at Jesus, bathed in light atop Mount Kanye. But before he could find that redemption, West would have to sink to the lower depths. That was represented by the severe "Coldest Winter," which he revealed was written about the death of his mother Donda in 2007. Along with "Heartless," it was one of two songs that West sang  (rather than rapped) from 2008's 808s & Heartbreak that proved to be at the Yeezus's show emotional core.      All of this grandiose spectacle was fascinating to watch, but a struggle to endure.  A few older hits like self-aggrandizing "Power" and self-critiquing "Can't Tell Me Nothing" came early in the show, but mostly West made his people wait for gratification, backloading the set with inviting tunes such as "All Of The Lights" and "Bound 2" (the most atypically inviting Yeezus track.)  With one punishing set piece after another, the show had little momentum and felt much longer than its running time,  seemingly taking forever to get to the fun parts. Los Angeles rapper Kendrick Lamar warmed up for West, rewarding fans who showed up early with hard hitting set drawn largely from 2012 good kid, M.A.A.D. City, one of the strongest rap albums in memory. Lamar spat rhymes over crushing beats played by a too loud band that sometimes obscured the intricacy of his flow, and also offered gentler grooves on "Sing About Me, I'm Dying of Thirst," in which he compellingly portrayed the path from the streets of Compton to rap stardom as a life or death struggle.

Kanye West's Yeezus tour is coming to Phoenix in December, which means you have less than two months to think about how "I Am a God" is going to sound at US Airways Center. The Phoenix dat e is set for Tuesday, December 10 -- just after the first wave of dates, which began over the weekend at Key Arena in Seattle. Kendrick Lamar, who headlined his own show at Mesa Amphithreatre , will open for Kanye, because Kanye has not yet figured out how to open for himself.

Read More: The Six Funniest Lines in Kanye West's Yeezus .

The last time we saw Kanye in Phoenix it was his face projected around town in the second wave of "New Slaves" projections. This time we will almost certainly be treated to the rest of him.

In fact, if the show in Seattle is any indication, we will be treated to the rest of him, a large helping of Yeezus ' furious minimalism (in a very maximalist live set-up), and somebody dressed like Jesus Christ , which would feel a little on the nose for anybody not named Kanye.

Tickets will start at $45 and go up from there, though not quite as high as you might think for a show that has Kendrick Lamar and our risen Lord as support acts.

This is a short lead time for a US Airways show -- Justin Timberlake and Beyoncé have been scheduled for the same week for months now -- but given latter-day Kanye's propensity for announcing things in ALL-CAPS on Twitter right before they happen his business people probably had to twist his arm to push the on-sale date for these tickets all the way back to . . . well, Friday at noon.

That $45 ticket will get you a spot in the upper level of US Airways Center; if you want to stand mountain-side for the resurrection you can expect to pay -- you can expect the face value of your ticket to be something like $135.

Given the relative infrequency with which Kanye tours at this point -- and just how little he needs to tour, if you're the prognosticating type -- that doesn't seem like such a bad deal. Justin Timberlake and Beyonce might be the more natural showmen, but going to their shows is much less likely to land you in the background of some shakycam TMZ footage after somebody with an iPhone catches Kanye projecting the "New Slaves" video onto Jesus' robes.

Notable setlist spoilers: Based on setlist.fm's listing for his Key Arena show over the weekend, particularly casual Kanye fans might find themselves lost for a while -- he didn't dip into his first three albums until "Can't Tell Me Nothing," 10 songs in.

The crowd-pleasers were stuffed into an absurd encore -- "Heard Em Say," "Stronger," "Through The Wire," "Jesus Walks," "Flashing Lights," and "All of The Lights," one right after the other.

Kanye West 's Yeezus tour kicked off this weekend , featuring a Jesus look-a-like, a mountainous structure, masks, the works. (It also ran into some trouble: Last night's show in Vancouver  has been postponed  to October 31.)

The  Instagram of Kanye's creative director Virgil Abloh , as well as photos posted by Complex , reveal what some of the merch being sold on the Yeezus tour looks like. Some of the gear—t-shirts, hoodies, tote bags—features a skeleton in a Native American headdress or a confederate flag, captioned with the slogans "God Wants You" or "I Ain't Comin' Down".

I have a feeling this is going to raise some dress-code concerns in American high schools in the coming months.

Kanye West's 'Yeezus' Tour To Resume

Kanye West fans rejoice. The artist will resume his ‘Yeezus’ tour on November 16.

Kanye West postponed the rest of the tour after a 60-foot LED screen used during his shows was damaged in a truck accident that occurred on Wednesday (Oct. 30).

He has rescheduled the dates for Chicago, Toronto and Detroit, but due to “routing logistics” the shows in Vancouver, Denver, Columbus, Montreal, Minneapolis and St. Louis have been cancelled, according to Island Def Jam.

The record label released a statement last week detailing the accident, saying that the truck was on its way to Vancouver when the gear was wrecked beyond repair. “This gear is central to the staging of The Yeezus Tour, and central to the creative vision put forth by Kanye West and his design team at DONDA,” the statement reads. “Kanye West will not compromise on bringing the show, as it was originally envisioned and designed, to his fans.”
