Disney Cruise Line Laundry – Price List, Services, and Self-Service Laundry

If you are considering a cruise with Disney, you might be wondering about the types of laundry services that they offer onboard.

I have just returned from a cruise on the Disney Magic.

This post may contain affiliate links, which means that I may earn a commission if you make a purchase at no additional cost to you.

Do Disney Cruise Ships Have Self-Service Laundries?

Disney Cruise Line have self-service laundries on board all of their cruise ships. These are available for guests to use 24 hours a day. The self-service laundries on Disney cruise ships do cost money to use with a wash starting at $3.

Fabric detergent and softener are available to buy from machines located in the laundry, these start at $1. All charges are made to your onboard account. To learn more about why cruise ships don’t use cash, and how you purchase things on a cruise, check out this post: Cruise Ships Are Cashless Societies – Here’s Why

The irons are free to use at any time without charge.

The below photo was taken onboard the Disney Magic.

disney cruise line self service laundry washers and dryers

Each washing machine and dryer has a number of settings including: Normal Wash, Light Wash, Synthetic Wash, Wool Wash. Dry, Extra Dry, Low-Temperature Dry.

Self-service laundries are located on multiple decks on each ship. Facilities vary by laundry.

The Disney app is used to let you know when your laundry is done. The Disney app played a big part in our Disney cruise, to learn why and see how it works in practice, watch this video:

How Much Does Laundry Cost on a Disney Cruise?

Disney Cruise Line offers dry cleaning, a standard wash and press only services. Laundry prices vary from $1.50 to $12.00 per item. To wash a single shirt costs $4.50, to dry clean a shirt costs $5.40 and to press only a shirt costs $2.70.

The table below was created using data from the Disney Magic.

Note: Disney doesn’t offer a press-only service for items like socks or handkerchiefs.

The prices of laundry (and all things on cruise ships) change regularly.

Laundry is usually returned the next day by 5.30 pm if you would like your clothes returned faster there are two options:

  • Collected by 9am and returned by 5.30pm the same day – 50% EXTRA CHARGE.
  • Any item collected and returned within 3 hours – 100% EXTRA CHARGE.

How do You Use The Pay Per Item Laundry with Disney Cruises?

To use the laundry service on a Disney cruise simply fill out the laundry sheet and total up the amount that you are spending.

Then place your items in the laundry bag. I’m sure that the laundry checks this but it’s always good to have an idea of how much you are spending too. It’s also important that you write down your stateroom number, name, and date.

Disney Cruise Line Laundry Terms:

“To insure the safest handling we must use our discretion on dry cleaning and laundering each garment. Fragile or hand washable garments must be dry cleaned to insure prompt service. Not responsible for shrinkage, fastness of color, zippers or for articles left in clothing.”

Any claim must be made within 24 hours.

In the case of loss or damage, the maximum liability of an item is 10x the price charged to wash and press that item.

If you have a particularly expensive dress or suit I would recommend that you don’t have this laundered by the cruise line.

Disney doesn’t accept any responsibility for your clothes if they shrink or become discolored.

Free Alternatives to Cruise Line Laundry Services

If at all possible I do try to avoid paying for laundry when I cruise. I usually make use of my free bag and wash any other items myself.

When I cruise I usually pack a little sachet of travel wash like this (affiliate link): Travel Wash .

I use the travel wash to wash things like t-shirts and socks in the cabin sink. It’s easy to do and almost free!

disney cruise laundry room

How to Use Travel Wash:

Using travel wash is really easy and doesn’t take long at all. Start by filling the sink with warm water then add a very small amount of the travel wash.

Move your clothes around in the wash and then put them to the side. I like to wash all clothes in the same bubbly water before moving on to rinse them off. Rinsing some clothes in the sink can be a bit tricky but rinsing them in the shower is always a good option.

Once you’ve washed your clothes, try to wring out as much of the water as possible, so that they can dry faster.

There is usually a line for hanging your clothes in the shower so I do this. Cruise lines do try to dissuade guests from hanging clothes on their balconies to dry because they can blow away and become a danger.

Is It Worth Paying For Laundry on a Disney Cruise?

Disney doesn’t have a ‘fill a bag’ promotion like other cruise lines do. All laundry is paid for on an item by item basis and whether it’s worth paying for depends on the value of having the item laundered for you.

If you are only wanting to wash a few t-shirts, maybe some gym clothes, socks, etc I’d strongly recommend that you do your own laundry in the cabin sink. It’s cheap and easy!

Doing Laundry on Disney Cruise Line Ships

disney cruise detergent machine in laundry room

Chances are you’ve done your fair share of laundry. But have you ever done laundry on a cruise ship? It’s actually not as hard as you might think!

In this post, we’ll give you some tips on how to do laundry on a Disney cruise ship. So don’t worry, your clothes will stay clean and fresh during your trip. Depending on the length of your vacation, you may not need to take advantage of the full service or self-service Disney cruise laundry facilities onboard.

However, if you are sailing on longer cruises or traveling with a baby, you may be interested in learning more about the launderettes on the Disney Cruise Line ships.

In the article below, we will walk you through the process of doing your laundry on a Disney cruise while providing information on the onboard cost of using the self service machines.

(This post may contain affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you. Please see my disclosure policy at the bottom of this page for more details.)

Disney Cruise Laundry Rooms

Each of the Disney cruise ships provides laundry facilities onboard. If you are sailing on the Disney Magic or the Disney Wonder, you will find laundry locations on Decks 2, 6, and 7. For those cruising on the Disney Fantasy or the Disney Dream, Deck 2 and Decks 5-10 hold laundry rooms. And guests sailing on the Disney Wish will find one large launderette, called Fairytale Fresh Laundry , on Deck 8.

Disney Magic Deck 7 Plan

The laundry facilities are really easy to find. You can even use the Disney Cruise Navigator App to direct you. In addition to using the app to find where the laundry facilities are located, you can look at the deck plan hanging on the wall beside each stairwell. You can see in the photo above that the launderette is labeled on the deck plan, making it super easy to find.

Self Service Laundry

I have always found the process of doing laundry on a Disney cruise to be really simple and stress-free. The launderettes are easy to locate, and I have never found them to be very busy – even on a sea day.

When you enter the laundry facilities, you will find that Disney provides pretty much everything you would need to do laundry onboard the cruise ship. Some of the laundry amenities you will see include:

  • fabric softener
  • ironing boards

Some of these do come with a fee to use, but we will touch more on the cost of doing laundry on a Disney cruise ship a little later in this post. The laundry rooms feature signs with clear instructions to help guide you as to how to access each amenity.

Is there an iron on Disney cruise ships?

The self-service laundry facilities include free use of an iron and an ironing board.

 Iron and Ironing Board

Note that the irons must be used in the launderette, and you cannot remove them from this space. Cruise lines do not want irons in the staterooms as they could be a fire hazard.

Disney Cruise Laundry Cost

The price to do your laundry on a Disney cruise ship is actually super reasonable. You can use the screen provided in the launderette to choose the services and products you want to purchase.

Note that you are welcome to bring your own detergent, dryer sheets, etc. if you prefer. Just add them to your Disney Cruise Line packing list , and you won’t have to pay for them onboard.

Launderette Screen showing prices for purchasing E-Tokens

There is no need to take cash or coins with you. Instead, you just swipe your Key to the World card to add the fee to your account. When you check your onboard account, you should see the payment you made in the laundry room.

After purchasing your laundry credits for a few dollars, you can choose an available washing machine to get started. Once your wash cycle has completed, you should receive a text message via the Disney Cruise Navigator App stating that you can move your things to a dryer.

washers and dryers on Disney Magic

This feature makes it so easy to continue enjoying your Disney Cruise Line vacation even while doing laundry! Rather than running to the self-service launderettes every time you think your wash or dry cycle is complete, you just go about your day as you normally would. Once you receive an alert, you can move your clothes out of the machine so that another guest may use it.

Full-Service Laundry Services

In addition to self-service laundry, Disney Cruise Line provides full-service laundry and dry cleaning. Although, the cost is significantly more than the self-service option. Inside your stateroom closet, you should see a provided bag and menu with a full-service price list.

Disney Cruise full service Laundry Menu and Prices

If you choose to utilize the full-service option, you can notify your stateroom host or Guest Services of your laundry requests. The form is super easy to read and fill out. This is a great option for those families who don’t mind spending the extra money to NOT have to do laundry on their vacation.

Laundry Bag and Essentials

If you’re planning to do laundry on your Disney cruise and wondering what to pack, we’ve got you covered. These are the items I always make sure to bring on a Disney cruise to help keep our clothing fresh and organized!

Laundry Bag/ Hamper

I set up this small hamper in our stateroom to keep all of our dirty clothes in one spot. I actually use this hamper any time my family travels anywhere. We just pop it open and place it in a corner out of the way. My kids know to throw their dirty clothes inside whenever they get undressed. This keeps our room nice and organized on vacation. This hamper folds up flat so it takes up very little space in your luggage.

Packing Cubes

These packing cubes go with us no matter where we are traveling. They really are one of the best purchases I’ve ever made! Each member of the family has their own set in a different color. This way, I can easily find what I’m searching for without having to dig through several cubes. My toddler uses the pink set, so I know to go straight to the pink cubes when I’m looking for her items.

We also love how easy the packing cubes are to unpack. You just grab each cube out of your luggage and place it in a drawer or on a shelf. In the past, I would find rolled up clothes in the drawers that would end up needing an iron. The packing cubes prevent this because they keep all the items folded and the drawers tidy. They just really provide a great way to sort, organize, and store your clean clothing, so I can’t say enough great things about them!

Downy Wrinkle Releaser

We use this while traveling AND at home. You just spray it on your clothing and then tug to smooth out the wrinkles. Downy Wrinkle Releaser completely takes away the need for an iron. We take this travel sized version everywhere we go! Once it dries, your clothes are wrinkle free! It’s perfect for saving time and space on a Disney cruise.

Magnetic Hooks

We usually pack two to three swimsuits per person for a cruise. When swimwear is wet, I hang it on one of these hooks to dry. You can also hang hats, jackets, wet clothes, etc. from these durable hooks. Since the stateroom walls are magnetic, you can place one of these hooks on virtually any wall in your cabin.

Final Thoughts on Doing Laundry on a Disney Cruise

If you are planning a Disney cruise with a short itinerary, you may not need to use the onboard laundry facilities. However, those sailing on longer trips may find relief when planning outfits and packing clothes by knowing launderettes are available onboard.

The laundry rooms and amenities are also really useful for those cruising with babies and toddler. It’s nice to know that the laundry facilities are so readily available and that the cost of doing laundry on a Disney Cruise is super reasonable!

FAQ: Doing Laundry on Disney Cruise Line Ships

You’re sailing the seven seas! The sun! The salty air! The endless buffet! The laundry?

disney cruise laundry room

The last thing you probably want to be thinking about during your Disney Cruise Line vacation is laundry, but there are many situations where you might have to freshen up your clothes while traveling. Some of these might include:

  • You’ve spilled something on a key piece of your travel attire.
  • You have an ill child who soiled some of their clothing
  • You want to avoid luggage fees and are trying to get by with only carry-on-size bags with minimal clothing
  • You’re making a lengthy trip and it’s not practical to bring enough outfits for your entire stay
  • The weather was not as predicted, forcing you to re-wear your most climate-appropriate outfit
  • Your formal attire became wrinkled in your suitcase
  • You want to dry swimsuits before packing them to go home

OK, you’ve convinced me that I might need to do laundry. Does that mean there are laundry rooms on the Disney Cruise Line ships?

disney cruise laundry room

You guessed correctly, there are laundry rooms for guest use on Disney Wonder, Magic, Dream, and Fantasy. We’re presuming that there will laundry rooms on the Disney Wish (debuting this summer).

Where are the laundry rooms?

On the Wonder and Magic, self-service laundry rooms are on Decks 2, 6 and 7. On the Dream and Fantasy, they’re on decks 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10.

Are there specific hours that laundry rooms are open?

The laundry rooms are open 24 hours per day.

How much does load of laundry cost?

disney cruise laundry room

For the self-service machines, each wash starts at $3.00 and each dry starts at $3.00. Nearby vending machines offer detergent and fabric softener, starting at $1.00 each.

You’re welcome to bring your own detergent and fabric softener if you have brand preferences. Many guests travel with a few detergent pods and fabric softener sheets in their luggage.

Do I need to bring coins for the machines?

No, all payment is made via your Key to the World Card (room key). There is no mechanism to use cash at the machines. Payment instructions are posted in the laundry rooms.

How long will it take to do a load?

disney cruise laundry room

Wash times vary from about 11 minutes to about 52 minutes, depending on the setting you choose (from warm rinse to hot heavy wash). Most dryer cycles take about 45 minutes.

Do I have to stay by the machine while I’m doing laundry?

No – with a caveat.

Since the laundry payment process is now linked to your Key to the World card and your onboard account, you can check on the status of your washing using the DCL Navigator app. You’ll get an alert when your load is done. Please pay attention to the alerts and head back to the laundry room in a timely fashion – other guests may be waiting for your machine.

I see irons in the laundry room photos here. Can’t I do touch-up ironing in my room?

No. Unlike the hotels at Disney World (and most other U.S. land-based locations), you will not find an iron, steamer, or ironing board in your stateroom. These are a fire hazard at sea. There are irons in the laundry rooms, but they must stay there.

Are the laundry rooms busy?

disney cruise laundry room

This varies widely depending on they type of sailing you’re on.

When I’ve been on three or four-night sailings in the Caribbean, I’ve rarely seen guests using the laundry rooms. If you need to do a quick load or touch up dress shirt, you’ll likely be able to do so right away.

When I’ve been on 7+ night sailings in Europe, competition for the laundry facilities is a full-contact sport. Most guests are from the U.S., which means that their travels in Europe are longer than a week (sometimes much longer) which means clothes will need to be washed and reworn, plus longer sailings are more likely to have semi-formal and formal nights that require pressed garments.

If you’re on a sailing of a week or longer, try to think about when less popular wash times will be. Afternoons on sea days are particularly popular – avoid those if you can.

What if I have laundry, but I don’t want to do it myself?

Disney Cruise Line also offers full service laundry.

There will be a fabric bag and a laundry order form inside your stateroom closet. If you don’t see it, just ask your stateroom attendant. (Be aware that if take the laundry bag home, DCL will charge you a $10.00 fee.)

disney cruise laundry room

How do I start the full-service laundry process.

Just tell your stateroom attendant or call guest services from your stateroom phone and they’ll send someone to pick it up.

How long does it take to get my laundry back if I send it out?

Almost always within 24-hours. Three-hour rush service is available for an upcharge.

How much does full-service laundry cost?

Basic items (tee shirts, pajamas, socks, jeans, underwear, etc.) cost between $1.50-4.00 per piece. This can add up quickly – it may be an option that you want to use sparingly.

Dry cleaning is also available. A suit costs $9.00 and an evening dress costs $10.00. (Compared to the price of dry cleaning near my home in New York, these rates are quite favorable.) While you may not a suit or dress cleaned onboard, it is common to need them pressed. Pressing is available at half the price of cleaning.

Anything else I should know?

In addition to retrieving your completed laundry in a timely manner, another important courtesy is to please keep talking to a minimum in the laundry area. The machines themselves are fairly quiet, or at least sound mostly like white noise, but I have heard guests with staterooms located near the laundry rooms complain about the noise from guests chatting outside their doors while waiting for their wash to be done. Please be considerate of your fellow travelers. (And when you’re selecting your stateroom, try to avoid those immediately adjacent to the laundry areas.)

Laundry Service on Disney Cruise Line

May 4, 2016 by Disney Cruise Mom 10 Comments

While there are laundry rooms on each level of the ships (that contain staterooms) where you can do your own laundry, Disney Cruise Line also offers a laundry service for those who do not want to do their own.  In the closet of your room you will find a laundry bag and price list like this (prices below were in September 2019):

They also offer a pressing only service if you have wrinkled items that could use a good pressing.  The basic service is next day, although you can pay more for same day or 3 hour service.

I have personally never used this service but I imagine it will only be a matter of time before I do.  I have heard of people using it with good results.

But, before you start thinking about what a great souvenir that DCL laundry bag would make, think twice.  If the laundry bag is not in your room when you disembark, your credit card will be charged something like $10 after you return home.

If you want to save some money and do your own laundry, there are several self-serve laundry rooms on each of the ships.  If you aren’t sure where the closest one to your room is, ask your room host and they will point you in the right direction.  It costs $3 to wash a load and $3 to dry.  Single-use detergent and fabric softener are available for purchase for $1 each.  If you bring your own detergent, make sure you bring the HE variety ( these detergent sheets  are much cheaper and get great reviews and are perfect for travel).  No need to bring quarters because you just swipe your room key and the amount is charged to your onboard account.  I suggest trying to do your laundry at off times like early in the morning or on a port day when most people are off the ship as the laundry rooms are small and tend to be crowded.  I also suggest bringing a laundry bag or collapsible hamper for transporting your laundry in-between your stateroom and the laundry room.  Also, irons are not allowed in staterooms, but each laundry room has an iron available.

Update: I did my own laundry for the first time on our recent Panama Canal cruise .  The laundry room I used on the Wonder had 5 washers and 5 dryers and were full every time I walked by (most likely people were doing more laundry than usual because this was such a long cruise).  I tried to do my laundry at off-peak times and still had to wait a few minutes for either a washer or dryer to become available.  Please return promptly to remove your clothes when the cycle is complete in consideration of others who are waiting to use the machines. If you are using the DCL Navigator App (details here ), then it will notify you when your machines are done.

Hi Margaret! They are not particularly large. I would say they are standard laundromat size, which are smaller than a lot of the newer machines that you can buy today.

You’re welcome Karen! Just try to do laundry at off times in order to minimize how much waiting you have to do – the laundry rooms are small!

Cruise Ship Laundry: List of Cruise Lines with Self-Service Laundry Rooms

Some cruise lines are cutting self-service laundry from their new ships. See every major cruise line that has a launderette on their ships and which ones don't offer it at all.

J. Souza

Some cruise lines don’t have self-service laundry rooms at all, and some only have them on select ships.  We listed every major cruise line and detailed what you can expect if you need to do a load of wash while at sea.

Which cruise ships have laundry rooms?

Doing laundry on a cruise ship is something most people don’t like to think about.  After all, you already have someone cleaning your stateroom every day, washing all those dishes from your meal, and cleaning up any spill or mess you make anywhere on the ship.

So, why even think about washing your own clothes?

Sometimes you just need a fresh set of clothes.  You either didn’t pack enough or you spilled something on your last clean pair of shorts.  If you went through those clean clothes faster than you anticipated, you will want a way to freshen up your wardrobe.

If you’re cruising on a budget and want to pack light, doing your own laundry in the middle of the cruise solves both issues.  I’ve done laundry several times during my cruises.  But much to the surprise of some cruisers, laundry rooms are not on every cruise ship.  In fact, there are only a select number of cruise lines that even have laundry rooms on their ships.

We looked at most of the major cruise lines to see which ones have laundry rooms and which ones don’t.  Then we looked at the cost of laundry and what kind of loyalty perks it takes to get free laundry service.

Wash-and-fold laundry service is one of the usual perks of ranking up your loyalty points with a cruise line, but if you don’t already have these benefits it could cost $30 – $50 per laundry bag.

Related: 10 tips for packing light on your cruise

Carnival Cruise Line Laundry Rooms

Self-service launderettes (the fancy name for laundry rooms on a cruise ship) are available on almost every Carnival ship.  However, the newest Excel-class ships do not have washers and dryers, much to the disappointment of cruisers trying to save money and pack light.

Mardi Gras, Carnival Celebration, and the coming Carnival Jubilee do not have washers and dryers and only have ironing rooms on a few stateroom decks.

A few other Carnival ships that do not have self-service laundry rooms include Carnival Luminosa, Carnival Venezia, and the coming Carnival Firenze.

The rest of the ships in Carnival’s fleet do have launderettes, although not on every deck.  They are often separated by every other deck.

It costs $3.50 per washer load and another $3.50 for a load in the dryer and you can also buy laundry detergent for around $2.  You can usually pay with your cruise card, but some older ships have coin operated machines.

Carnival does also offer valet laundry with wash and fold service for $15 per bag and $50 for 5 laundry bags.

Free wash and fold laundry service is one of the loyalty reward perks after Platinum level is reached at 75 points.

Royal Caribbean Laundry

There are no laundry rooms or launderettes on any Royal Caribbean cruise ships.  So, if you want to wash your clothes while sailing with the cruise line you will have to use a wash-and-fold service or do it yourself in the stateroom sink.

The Q&A page for Royal Caribbean states that the reason for a lack of laundry rooms is due to safety concerns.  They also state that irons are not provided to cabins because they could be a fire hazard.

Discounts are provided to The Crown & Anchor Society members who have reached various tiers.  At Diamond Plus and Pinnacle Club levels one free laundry bag is provided on cruises 5 nights or longer.

Each stateroom is provided with a laundry bag that can be sent to the wash-and-fold service for $34.99 per bag.  If you would like individual pieces of clothing to be washed, pressed, steamed or dry cleaned you can pay by the type of clothing.

Here is the current price list for laundry service on Royal Caribbean ships:

Norwegian Cruise Line Laundry

There are no self-service laundry rooms on any Norwegian Cruise Line cruise ships.  The company does offer laundry and dry-cleaning services for a fee.  Same-day service is provided for this laundry service.  You just fill out a form, stuff your clothes in a provided bag and your stateroom steward will pick it up and return it washed and folded.

According to information from the cruise line, there are a limited number of irons and ironing boards on Norwegian cruise ships that can be loaned out to guests for a select amount of time.  These can be requested through housekeeping.

At Gold level with the Latitudes Rewards Program guests can get 50% off 1 bag of laundry and a free bag at Platinum level and above.  Typically, a laundry bag will cost $29 for wash-and-fold service.

MSC Cruises Laundry

There are no self-service laundry rooms on any MSC cruise ships.  Instead, the cruise line offers several service packages that allow guests to use the service up to 20 items per cabin.

You can also choose an a la cart sort of laundry method where you pay for each item of clothing, with the price depending on what kind of garment you’d like to be washed.

The MSC rewards program, MSC Voyagers Club, offers some mild discounts on laundry.  At Silver level you get 5% off, 10% at Gold, and 15% at Diamond, which is the highest level.

Princess Cruises Laundry

Unlike many of the cruise lines above, Princess does have self-service launderettes on their ships.   These laundry rooms have a washer, dryer, and detergent that can be purchased.  You can pay for your laundry with your Medallion.  Each load of laundry is typically about $3 per load per machine.

These laundry rooms also have an iron and ironing board as ironing is not allowed in staterooms.

Part of the Captain Circle Loyalty rewards with Princess include laundry perks once Elite Level is reached (15 cruises).   Guests who reach this level will get free laundry and shoe polishing services.

Celebrity Cruises Laundry

You will not find any self-service laundry rooms on a Celebrity cruise ship.    Laundry services are provided, and same-day service is available, although will carry an extra charge for certain services.

For passengers in Royal Suites and any other cabin category above that there is free and unlimited laundry service.

The cost of an article of clothing to be washed and folded by services on board can range from $3 to $20 for each garment.

Celebrity offers wash-and-fold laundry bags that have a set price for whatever you can put into the bag as well.  Depending on the services you want (wash and fold, wash and press, or dry cleaning) the cost can range from $60 a bag to $150 per bag.

Once Elite level is reached through the Captain’s Club reward program guests get a free bag of laundry with wash and fold services.  Elite Plus provides two free bags and unlimited bags with Zenith level, the highest in the program.

Holland America Line Laundry

Only some of Holland America’s cruise ships have a self-service laundry room.   And some of these launderettes are being removed as ships are refurbished, while newer ships are not having them included.

Currently, Holland America ships with a laundry room include Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Zaandam, Volendam, Veendam, Maasdam and Prinsendam.

Holland America will not allow clothing irons in your stateroom.  Each room does have a laundry bag that can be used for full-service laundry services.

Mariner Society is the rewards program with the cruise line and complimentary laundry services are provided at 4-Star Mariner and above.

Laundry bag prices start at $20 with wash and fold service for anything you can stuff into the bag.

Disney Cruise Line Laundry

Disney offers self-service laundry rooms on every cruise ship in its fleet, with a state-of-the-art facility on Disney Wish that is in one location on deck 2 instead of several around the ship.  Here are the ships and locations for laundry on Disney cruise ships:

  • Disney Wonder and Magic: Decks 2, 6, and 7
  • Disney Dream and Fantasy: Decks 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10
  • Disney Wish: Deck 2

You will find a great review of the laundry area on Disney Wish here .

These facilities are typically open 24-hours and guests can use their cruise card to pay for the use of a washer or dryer.  The cost is $3 per load for washing and another $3 for the dryer.  You can also buy detergent and fabric softener for about $1 each.

Full-service laundry is also available with laundry bags and forms in each cabin.

Virgin Voyages Laundry

There are no self-service launderettes on board a Virgin vessel, and there probably won’t be on any future ships.

Full-service laundry services are available.  In each stateroom there is a laundry bag with a form you can fill out for any instructions.  You can pay for an entire bag of laundry or for each item individually.    Prices start around $5 for each article of clothing and a bag full of laundry will cost around $30 for wash and fold.  If you need it the same day it will cost $50 at today’s prices.

Other cruise lines with laundry rooms

There are several all-inclusive cruise lines that have self-service laundry facilities on board.  These are almost always complimentary.   Viking, Regent Seven Seas, Azamara, and Cunard have self-serve laundry rooms on board and they are free for guests to use.

Oceania has complimentary self-service laundry facilities and also offers 3 bags of free laundry per cabin for Concierge level staterooms.

Doing Laundry on a Disney Cruise

Fairytale Fresh Disney Wish Laundry

Updated to include the Disney Wish. Doing laundry on vacation can be a necessary evil. Your alternatives are to pack extra or re-wear dirty clothes. At least Disney makes it easier with self-serve laundry rooms available on each ship. We stopped by the launderette on the first day of our cruise on the Wonder and snapped these pictures.

How do I pay?

Each launderette has a kiosk where you can buy electronic tokens that can be used for the washer and dryer or to buy detergent and softener. Tokens for wash and dry are $3.00 each. The detergent and softener are $1.00 per token. The detergent is Tide, and the softener is Snuggle.

The tokens are attached to your Key to the World Card. When purchasing, you can let others in your cabin access the tokens for use. To purchase the tokens, you just tap your Key to the World Card, select the tokens you wish to purchase and confirm the purchase.

The price must have gone up recently. On our previous cruise on the Magic in August, it was $2.00 per token. You can bring detergent from home to save a little money.

Kiosk Laundry on a Disney Cruise

The kiosk in each launderette also has a scrolling display that lets you know the status of each other launderette on the ship and how many washers and dryers are in use. This is super helpful. If you go to your nearest launderette and it is full, you can see which one, if any, is not and head there.

Another tip is to bring a pop-up hamper ; it will keep all your dirty clothes in one spot and make it easy to carry to and from the launderette.

Where’s the Iron?

As well as washers and dryers, you will find an iron in the launderette. For safety, the only irons for guests on the ship are in these rooms and are on a timer. You can imagine this is a popular spot before dinner, especially on formal nights. We discovered on this past cruise that the first day is the best time to do your ironing. My husband rushed back here after we took these pictures and ironed all his shirts and a couple of my dresses.

Where are the Launderettes?

Three launderettes are on decks 2, 6, and 7 of the Magic and Wonder. Seven launderettes on the Dream and Fantasy are located on decks 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10. And there is one launderette on the Disney Wish on Deck 8. The Disney Wish launderette has 26 washers and dryers.

Launder-etiquette

The launderettes are fairly busy. On sea days, formal nights, and poor-weather days, they can be going non-stop. One of the biggest pet peeves on cruise boards is people who leave their laundry unattended in a machine that has finished its cycle. In fact, as we were passing the launderette, I overheard a couple discussing if they should move the clothes out of a finished dryer.

It’s good etiquette to return to your clothes to move or remove them when the cycle is up. To assist in this, you will receive a text message on the Disney Cruise App and a call/message on your wave phone when your laundry is finished. I usually set a timer so I am back a few minutes before the cycle ends since the app can be unreliable or slow.

I hope this helps your cruise planning. If you enjoyed this post, check out one of my trip reports or stateroom reviews .

Disney Wish alerts come through 10 minutes before a cycle ends, it was consistent , but maybe because i had put a medium or high dry setting. Also around 8 washers were out of service, you would try to tap the screen and it would not accept or start. move over to another machine and bingo , its working. or you could be like my wife and pack 2 large suitcases so you never need to do laundry!

Earning My Ears

  • Mar 29, 2013

We will be sailing on the Dream in just 16 days and as we walk through the idea of packing, it has become quite apparent we will need to do at least one load of laundry during our trip. (We will be spending an extra 4-days at DW upon the return of ship) Does anyone know the exact locations of the laundry rooms on the Dream? I can't seem to find them on the deck plans. Thanks in advance.

I know there are 3 of them.

one is on deck 2

I believe the other two are on deck 5 and 7.

All are about mid ship I think. It has been along time since I used them.

But I am possitive about deck 2!!!

Hi mom x4,grandma x4,

Thanks for your help. FYI, I found this post in the INTERCOT boards:

"If you don't mind going during off peak hours, then you shouldn't have any problem. There are 3 laundry rooms onboard and they are open 24/7. You can find them on:

deck 2 - across from stateroom 2096

deck 6 - across from stateroom 6588

deck 7 - across from stateroom 7590

I would try deck 7, just because of the way the laundry rooms are spaced out. You'll most likely have better luck with that room being less crowded.
