Kelsea Ballerini recently kicked off the third leg of her US HEARTFIRST tour in California, following her celebrated run supporting Kenny Chesney on his I Go Back series of dates. Excitingly, as she geared up for the latest run of HEARTFIRST shows, the ‘Peter Pan’ hitmaker made a surprise appearance at Spotify House in Nashville during CMA Fest .

During her UK tour in early 2023, fans were eager to see whether the Tennessee native would perform any tracks from her revealing new Rolling Up the Welcome Mat EP.

Attendees at Kelsea's final UK performance in London were excited to see the live debut of ‘Leave Me Again’, along with a moving rendition of ‘Penthouse’, both of which feature on the EP.

Throughout Kelsea Ballerini's 2023 US shows so far, the country star has been giving Rolling Up the Welcome Mat an even bigger presence, with new additions to the setlist such as ‘Blindsided’, which she performed on SNL with a new third verse .

Interestingly, Kelsea has also been introducing a new verse to ‘Penthouse’ throughout her performances this year, with many speculating that these revamped versions will be included on the upcoming Rolling Up The Welcome Mat (Deluxe) project.

Here you can find Kelsea Ballerini's updated setlist as she continues her 2023 concert tour.

Although more of the acclaimed new EP is now being played live, Kelsea still centres her sets around her widely loved 2022 album, SUBJECT TO CHANGE , performing fan-favourites such as ‘YOU'RE DRUNK, GO HOME’, ‘DOIN’ MY BEST’ and the playful, Bonnie and Clyde-inspired ‘IF YOU GO DOWN (I'M GOIN’ DOWN TOO)’ .

An undoubted highlight of Kelsea Ballerini's performances this year has been the transition from ‘LOVE IS A COWBOY’ into The Chicks’ iconic hit, ‘Cowboy Take Me Away’.

Artist

Kelsea confirmed an extended version of her acclaimed six-song EP would be arriving on August 11.

Fans can also expect to hear classics from Kelsea's discography, including ‘Peter Pan’ and ‘Love Me Like You Mean It’.

The country star welcomed several female collaborators for the project, including Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild, a co-writer on the album’s title “Subject to Change” and the tour’s namesake, “Heartfirst.” Alysa Vanderheym is also a co-producer on the project, and wrote “Heartfirst” with Fairchild and Ballerini. She also collaborated with Carly Pearce and Kelly Clarkson on the song “You’re Drunk, Go Home.”

“It’s interesting because in the conversation of, ‘Yes, we need more women in country music,’ what does that actually look like?” Ballerini previously told Billboard . “We need more female artists and collaborators but we also need more female opportunities throughout the whole chain of events, you know? I intentionally wanted to write with more women this time. For me, when you are making a record about emotions, when you connect with a woman creatively, you’re gonna be able to tap into that in a whole different way.”

Kelsea ballerini announces 2023 heartfirst tour dates.

Kelsea Ballerini announces 2023 Heartfirst Tour dates

New dates follow last fall’s initial 10 night run

Kelsea Ballerini has announced a second North American leg of her Heartfirst Tour. The newly shared dates run throughout March and hit nine cities across the US and Canada. The trek kicks off March 6th in Toronto with stops in Detroit, Columbus, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Indianapolis, Cleveland, Atlantic City and Pittsburgh.

“Let’s do this again,” she shares with the tour graphic.

Tickets go on sale Friday, January 20th with presales starting Tuesday, January 17th at 10 am local time via Ticketmaster . Georgia Webster will join as special guest.

The trek takes its name from “Heartfelt,” the first single from Ballerini’s fifth studio album,  Subject to Change , released last fall. The new leg follows 10 fall dates of The Heartfelt Tour .

The country pop star will also be joining Kenny Chesney on his I Go Back 2023 Tour , supporting Wynonna Judd on two The Judds: Final Tour dates, and Shania Twain’s Queen of Me Nashville tour stop this summer.

Ballerini recently teamed with critically acclaimed pop singer/songwriter Fletcher for a duet version of “ Better Version .” Directed by award-winning filmmaker Eva Doležalová (Serpentine, Maestro), the video cinematically depicts a nuanced exploration of post-breakup grief and growth. Fletcher and Ballerini star in the video alongside rising stars Gavin Leatherwood of Sabrina The Teenage Witch and  Sex Lives of College Girls and Ava Capri of Love Victor, Do Revenge .

In April, Ballerini will return to co-host the CMT Music Awards for the third consecutive year , which moves to Austin, TX for the first time. Carrie Underwood, who holds the title as the winningest artist in CMT history , with a total of 25 trophies, was revealed as first performer for the 2023 show when Ballerini surprised the country-pop phenom during a major surprise on-stage moment as part of her sold out The Denim & Rhinestones Tour stop in ATX at Moody Center in November.

Kelsea Ballerini poses in a provocative outfit.

Fresh off her musical guest appearance on “Saturday Night Live,” Kelsea Ballerini is heading right back to the road for 18 more shows.

From March 6 through July 1, the country star will travel all over the country as part of her ongoing ‘Heartfirst Tour.’

The tour, which began in late 2022, had to be extended to the spring and summer due to overwhelming demand.

Soon after, concerts began selling out.

“WELL THIS ESCALATED QUICKLY,” Ballerini gushed on Instagram . “As if i couldn’t have been more excited to get back on the road…you’re selling these out already?! ok brb going to make the show extra special now.”

This time around, she’ll be hitting the northeast when she stops into Atlantic City’s Etess Arena at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino on March 17.

And if you need last-minute tickets, they’re surprisingly still available — even for the sold-out shows.

Some can even be scooped up for as low as $55 before fees on Vivid Seats.

Want to find the show closest to you? Or would you like to see Ballerini open for Kenny Chesney on his upcoming “I Go Back Tour?”

Keep reading. We’ve got everything you need to know and more below.

All prices are subject to fluctuation and were found at the time of publication.

Kelsea Ballerini 2023 tour schedule

A complete calendar including all tour dates, venues and links to the cheapest tickets available for each show can be found below.

(Note: The New York Post confirmed all above prices at the publication time. All prices are subject to fluctuation and include additional fees at checkout .)

Vivid Seats is a verified secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

They offer a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and your tickets will be delivered prior to the event.

Kenny Chesney’s ‘I Go Back’ Tour

There isn’t just one tour on Ballerini’s 2023 schedule.

This year, she’ll also open for Kenny Chesney on his spring ‘I Go Back Tour’ from March 23 through May 27.

The tour isn’t your typical Chesney trek though.

Rather than hit stadiums, Chesney will hit off the beaten path venues this spring.

“I decided rather than just go repeat what we did on this summer’s stadium tour, I wanted to take this band and these songs to a lot of the cities we played on our way up, call it the I Go Back Tour and do just that,” Chesney shared on  Instagram .

You can find his entire tour calendar here.

Kelsea Ballerini new music

In October 2022, the 29-year-old released her fourth record “Subject To Change.”

The album mixes country, pop and dance which goes down smooth for hardcore fans and those her are just discovering her catalog with its good-natured lyrics and upbeat tempo changes.

We’re partial to the second track “THE LITTLE THINGS” where Ballerini pays homage to the intangibles in a relationship that make it work like “when her partner puts a hand on her back in a crowded room” or “waiting on her in the morning with a cup of coffee.”

You can hear the upbeat “Subject To Change” in its entirety here .

More recently, she dropped the soul-baring, six-song EP “Rolling Up The Welcome Mat.” Both songs from her ‘SNL’ set were from this short offering.

It’s also available for streaming —  all you have to do is click here .

Kelsea Ballerini opening act

Before Ballerini takes the stage, audiences will be treated to up-and-coming singer-songwriter Georgia Webster.

The 20-year-old Massachusetts native first exploded onto the scene after an acoustic version of her single “Tell Your Mom” went viral on TikTok in 2020.

Since then, she’s released two EPs: 2021’s “First Goodbye” and 2022’s “Chapter 1: Things We’re Not Saying.”

If you want a taste of her poppy country sound, you can listen to Webster here.

Kelsea Ballerini ‘SNL’ performance

Ballerini performed two songs on the March 4 episode of ‘Saturday Night Live’ hosted by Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

First, she treated the crowd to a rousing edition of her powerful “BLINDSIDED” which can be seen below.

Then, toward the end of the show, Ballerini delivered the stripped-down ballad “Penthouse.”

Both songs are from Ballerini’s 2023 EP “Rolling Up The Welcome Mat.”

Watch Kelsea Ballerini Perform a Gorgeous ‘Leave Me Again’ at 2023 CMAs

By Emily Zemler

Emily Zemler

Kelsea Ballerini took the stage at the 2023 CMA Awards to perform her vulnerable breakup song “Leave Me Again.” With just her voice and her acoustic guitar, she delivered one of the highlight performances of the evening, an understated gem that further proved Ballerini is gliding into her superstar era.

“Leave Me Again” comes off the country musician’s surprise EP, Rolling Up the Welcome Mat , which arrived in February. The collection of divorce-inspired songs, which was released alongside a short film, followed Ballerini’s 2022 album  Subject to Change . “Leave Me Again” is the EP’s closing track and was written by Ballerini.

The far right is crawling with eclipse conspiracy theories, trump says he’ll become ‘modern day nelson mandela’ over right to attack judge’s daughter, taylor swift soundtracks the five stages of grief with new apple music playlists.

Ballerini added two more songs to the EP in August and re-titled it Rolling Up the Welcome Mat (For Good) . “From the deepest and purest part of my heart, I ask that you help this be ours and let the music simply be the music, not dig back into the experience that it was written about nearly a year ago,” she wrote to fans. “As a songwriter, producer, artist I’m proud and protective of this EP, and as a woman and human also proud and protective of the new, happy season of life I’m in.”

In September, Ballerini performed her song “Penthouse” at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards . Last week she headlined a homecoming show in Knoxville, Tennessee, which featured a surprise appearance by Kenny Chesney.

Ballerini has booked a series of new shows on her HEARTFIRST Tour throughout the month of March, consisting of nine intimate shows across the U.S. and Canada. The tour will begin in Toronto on March 6, and will travel through Columbus, Ohio; Minneapolis, Minnesota; Atlantic City, New Jersey, and others before concluding in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on March 18.

“Let’s do this again,” she writes with a yellow heart emoji announcing the new dates. The first leg of the tour took place in September and October 2022.

The tour is in support of her latest album, Subject to Change , which includes the top 30 single, “Heartfirst,” which Ballerini co-wrote with Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild and Alysa Vanderheym, along with “ You’re Drunk, Go Home ,” a collaboration with Kelly Clarkson and Carly Pearce. “Heartfirst” is nominated at the 2023 Grammy Awards for Best Country Solo Performance.

This is one of several tours Ballerini is participating in this year. She’ll appear at select dates on The Judds: The Final Tour , which resumes on January 26, and serve as a supporting act on Kenny Chesney’s I Go Back Tour , which runs from March through the end of May.

“Music has taken me so many incredible places,” Ballerini said about touring with her “half of my hometown” duet partner. “Around the world, singing with some of my heroes in pop, alternative and contemporary music, but singing with Kenny is going home. He was the only voice I heard on ‘half of my hometown,’ and when he comes in, it’s just like hitting the Knoxville city limits. So to be able to go out to those cities like the place he and I grew up with an artist who’s accomplished what he has, it’s a lot like going home.”

She’ll also open for one of her idols, Shania Twain, on her global Queen of Me Tour , including the show at Geodis Park in Nashville.

Kelsea Ballerini brought all the feels to Utah on her ‘Heartfirst Tour’

The country-pop star sang and got down to sharing some emotion at sandy amphitheater show..

(Francisco Kjolseth | The Salt Lake Tribune) Kelsea Ballerini performs during her ‘Heartfirst’ tour in a sold out show at the Sandy Amphitheater on Thursday, July 29, 2023.

In Sandy on a beautiful summer evening, country star Kelsea Ballerini wanted everyone in the audience at her sold-out show, from the youngest to the oldest, to be in touch with their feelings.

Ballerini’s request came out strongest in the middle of her set, as she stood on an auxiliary stage smack in the center of the Sandy Amphitheater crowd, after she performed her hit “You’re Drunk, Go Home” — while walking through the audience.

A Utah summer sunset painted the background behind her, hues of orange and yellow making her second of four outfits of the night — a red sparkly number with matching red bejeweled boots — stand out even more.

Before the started singing at the b-stage, Ballerini told the crowd she met a young girl named Payton, who said her favorite song was “Homecoming Queen.” As Ballerini sang the song, Payton could be seen nearby, jumping up and down. In the middle of the ballad, though, Ballerini stopped, and looked out thoughtfully across the crowd.

Perhaps it was because of meeting Payton, or because she spotted a baby (named Phoebe) with her parents, who held up a sign that read “this is my first concert.” Or maybe it was because of the song’s lyrics: “Not everything pretty sparkles and shines, and even the homecoming queen cries.”

Whatever the reason, Ballerini paused to encourage people, particularly women, to embrace all their feelings — good or bad. In life, she told the crowd in what became almost like a group therapy session, she’s learned that people aren’t always going to be nice.

“Once I gave myself to feel sad when I felt sad and happy when I felt happy, I started feeling the most human I’ve ever felt,” Ballerini said. “I just hope if you hear one thing from me tonight: All of it is really beautiful.”

Ballerini commented that she had spotted more kids in the crowd, like Payton, than she had at a concert in a long time, and she felt it was important to say those words. Then she finished the song.

Ballerini first came to national attention in 2014, with her first single, “Love Me Like You Mean It,” when she had just turned 21. Her career, moving from country to pop, has mirrored the crossover success of Taylor Swift.

Don’t mistake Ballerini for just a pop princess. She’s still got some country fire going on. Take one of the signature moves on her tour, when she stops to share a tequila shot on stage. For Thursday’s show, that shot was taken with “Queer Eye” co-host Tan France, who has made Utah his home.

(Ballerini’s support for the LGBTQ+ community has been quite visible, in the face of anti-LGBTQ+ bills in Republican-controlled legislatures across the country. At the nationally televised Country Music Awards in April, Ballerini performed her song “If You Go Down (I’m Goin’ Down Too),” backed by four drag queens in 1950s Southern fashions.)

The crowd was on its feet from the moment the intro song — Shania Twain’s iconic “Man! I Feel Like a Woman” — blasted over the speakers. They sang and danced, in cowboy boots of every color and hats galore, to songs old and new.

Most of the songs on Thursday’s setlist came from Ballerini’s fourth studio album, “Subject to Change,” released last September. Many new fans, though, know Ballerini for her six-track EP, “Rolling Up the Welcome Mat,” which she released on Valentine’s Day.

The EP — a rollercoaster collection of songs charting the singer’s journey through her four-year marriage to and 2022 divorce from country singer Morgan Evans — went somewhat viral on TikTok after its release. The crowd was mesmerized when she performed songs from the EP, like “Blindsided.”

“Penthouse,” which came later on, received the loudest cheers of the night.

Ballerini appeared in four different outfits — a fringe-covered yellow mini-dress with matching thigh-high boots, a red romper, a black body suit and a lilac dress — each reflective of the emotions in the songs from that part of the setlist.

The Sandy Amphitheater made for the perfect venue. The sight lines are better than most outdoor venues, and there isn’t a bad seat in the house. Ballerini moved around the audience area, interacting with fans in front and back — such as a young girl, who she recognized from Instagram earlier in the day, who was dressed like the singer.

Ballerini noted that she had played Sandy Amphitheater before, and she talked about “going down memory lane” as she shifted into a three-song medley of her earlier hits, “Dibs,” “Love Me Like You Mean It” and “Yeah Boy.”

Ballerini’s six-piece backing band, equipped with a violinist who rocked the stage to its core, and her seamless but thoughtful set design made for a visually beautiful show.

When Ballerini sang a medley of two songs, “Love Is a Cowboy” and “Cowboy Take Me Away,” the massive video screen behind the stage shifted colors from red to blue — highlighting the emotions of the songs and bringing them even more to life, while touching on the imagery of the bridge in the first song.

The songs throughout the set spotlighted Ballerini’s beautiful voice — but the performances on the auxiliary stage, amid the crowd and those with Ballerini sitting on a stool and singing, made the show.

Toward the end of Thursday’s performance, Ballerini saw a sign from a woman in the front row asking her to play a game, with the objective of choosing an extra song to play. Ballerini ended up picking “The Way I Used To,” a song Ballerini recorded in 2020 and had not performed on this tour before. Ballerini got some help from the crowd to sing it, because it had been so long.

Ballerini went back and thanked the fan who made the request. With the camera focused on the fan and her wife, Ballerini sang a few lines of another of her songs, “Unapologetically in Love.” (The couple held up a sign that said they had played the song at their wedding.)

Ballerini ended her set with “Doin’ My Best” and told the crowd, “All we are in control of is showing up, rolling up our sleeves, and doing our damn best.”

The concert might have been most fun for the young girls in attendance — girls like Payton, or the two girls, drowning in oversized Ballerini merchandise, who screamed when “Peter Pan” came on and enthusiastically sang every word to every song.

There was a lot of glitz, glam and sass at Ballerini’s show, the second-to-last stop on her Heartfirst tour. The show lived up to the tour’s name, because it was really all about heart.

She finishes the tour Saturday night in Phoenix. Then she’s performing Tuesday, Independence Day, at St. George’s Greater Zion Stadium, headlining 99.9 KONY Country’s Fourth of July celebration .

Having co-hosted the CMT Music Awards three times in the past, this year marks Ballerini's first time handling emcee duties solo.

"It's definitely new grounds for me," the "Penthouse" singer recently told PEOPLE. "But it's my fourth year hosting, so I feel like I've learned a lot. The nominations are in, and the 2024  CMT Music Awards  will have plenty of familiar faces -- and a whole lot of new ones.

Ahead of Sunday's ceremony, the CMT Music Awards revealed their top three finalists for Video of the Year. The exclusive category came down to Cody Johnson's "The Painter," Kelsea Ballerini's "IF YOU GO DOWN (I’M GOIN’ DOWN TOO)" and Jelly Roll's "Need a Favor."

This year, there's a four-way tie for first when it comes to total number of nominations, with Johnson, Jelly Roll, Ballerini and Megan Moroney all getting three noms each.

Many of the pack leaders are very familiar with being honored at the CMT Music Awards, with Jelly Roll being the most-awarded artist of 2023  and Johnson earning that honor in 2022. Meanwhile, Wilson was the most-nominated artist last year.

As for Ballerini, the songstress isn't just a nominee this year, she's set to host the show once again  after previously co-hosting alongside Kane Brown in 2023.

Notably, there are also 14 first-time nominees this year -- including several artists new to the country genre, including Amber Riley, Bret Michaels, Chayce Beckham and Hozier.

Kelsea Ballerini catches heat for ‘woke’ CMT Awards performance with drag queens

Kelsea Ballerini drew heat and praise Sunday night after featuring all-star drag queens from “RuPaul’s Drag Race” during a colorful performance at the 2023 CMT Music Awards .

The “Peter Pan” and “This Feeling” singer, who also co-hosted the fan-voted country-music awards show, sang her new ride-or-die best friend anthem “If You Go Down (I’m Goin’ Down Too)” backed by a quartet of “Drag Race” stars — Manila Luzon, Kennedy Davenport, Jan Sport and Olivia Lux — dressed as glam midcentury housewives lounging on a lawn in front of a white picket fence.

The live performance made quite the statement amid a brewing debate over anti-LGBTQ legislation in Ballerini’s home state of Tennessee, the hub of country music, where some musicians have aligned themselves against laws limiting LGBTQ rights and legislators using hateful rhetoric about transgender people.

The conservative state recently classified shows with “male or female impersonators” as adult cabaret and “harmful to minors,” but the polarizing antidrag law, which restricts such performances and was to take effect April 1, was temporarily blocked by a federal judge last week.

Kelsea Ballerini dishes on split from Morgan Evans, who says claims aren’t ‘reality’

Kelsea Ballerini got candid about her split from fellow country star Morgan Evans on the ‘Call Her Daddy’ podcast, prompting her ex to rebut on Instagram.

With this year’s CMT Awards taking place at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas, Ballerini appeared emboldened to broadcast her political stance on the cable network and openly object to the conservative-backed legislation in front of her colleagues and country-music fans.

“if you go down, i’m going down too // thank you to these iconic queens and @manilaluzon @kennedyddoftx @janjanjan @TheOliviaLux and @CMT for celebrating love, self expression, and performance,” Ballerini tweeted after the show. Luzon, Davenport, Sport and Lux echoed the sentiment on their own social media accounts.

“If you go down, I’m goin down too we love you @KelseaBallerini!! We slayed the CMTs!!!,” Sport tweeted .

However, a number of viewers took issue with Ballerini’s “woke” showcase , unleashing their disappointment in her social media comments and suggesting that the display would be detrimental to her career.

“I can’t believe you would put this trash on TV. or anywhere around country music. I’ve been watching for 35 years but I’ll never watch CMT again,” said one reply to Ballerini’s tweet .

“Probably should know your audience… really sickening @CMT allowed this,” tweeted another user.

“Nope nope nope. Just sing your songs and stop worrying about being woke. No thanks. Bye,” added an Instagram user.

“DISAPPOINTED!! Not a fan of hers anymore,” said another comment.

“I actually don’t have anything against drag queens but this was just random af and seemed like she’s really trying to be ‘woke’ to gain more popularity. So weird,” added another.

Musicians fight threat of Tennessee anti-LGBTQ, drag bills

Tennessee has long championed its musical and creative communities, but some artists feel threatened by its new laws.

However, many applauded the musician on her act of defiance and show of alliance. (“Drag Race” alum Jan Sport also went after those who aired their grievances in Ballerini’s replies.)

“Not one child was harmed in the making of this production,” said a comment on the performance video posted on CMT’s YouTube channel.

“Legendary. Shows just how easy it is to accept others and be a good ally,” a different YouTube user wrote.

“Can we just talk about how great a statement it is to highlight drag performers! Queens!!! All of them!!!,” added another.

“For country fans upset about this, wait till you find out that MANY of the songs you blast on country radio are written by LGBT writers. Get over it. Country music is for everyone,” tweeted singer-songwriter Leland, who has collaborated with Ballerini and wrote RuPaul’s song “Kitty Girl.”

“All y’all keyboard warriors hating on Kelsea for this one better add Dolly [Parton] to the list. One of the funniest stories she tells is about entering AND losing a Dolly Drag Queen contest ,” tweeted another.

LGBTQ advocacy group GLAAD also highlighted Ballerini’s “bold allyship” amid the anti-trans legislation pushes in Tennessee, Texas and other Southern states. The group also highlighted the CMT Awards’ inclusion of out singer Lily Rose and red-carpet host Cody Alan , as well as country superstar Shania Twain’s call on the industry to be “all inclusive” during the ceremony.

“Kelsea’s performance at the CMT Music Awards reinforced that drag is not a threat, it’s an art,” said Anthony Allen Ramos, GLAAD’s vice president of communications and talent, in a statement to The Times. “New legislation that tries to silence drag performers in some Southern states is as unpopular as it is unnecessary. ... Country music stars are using their platforms to stand with the LGBTQ community and the industry is growing into an explicitly welcoming place for LGBTQ fans and talent. Other country music stars, concerts, and events should take note of CMT’s inclusion and follow suit.”

Ballerini opened Sunday’s broadcast on a mournful note, recognizing the March 27 Covenant School shooting in Nashville that claimed the lives of three 9-year-old students and three adult school employees. (Artists attending the CMT Awards also wore black ribbons on the red carpet to honor the victims.)

Melissa Joan Hart details involvement in harrowing scene near Nashville school shooting

TV star Melissa Joan Hart shared an emotional video about how she helped kids cross streets near Monday’s shooting at the Covenant School in Nashville.

In her opening remarks, the emotional co-host spoke out against the scores of mass shootings in the U.S. this year alone and shared that her 15-year-old classmate died from gun violence in her high school cafeteria in 2008. Ballerini dedicated the evening’s broadcast to “the ever-growing list of families, friends, survivors, witnesses and responders whose lives continue to forever be changed by gun violence.”

“I pray deeply that the closeness in the community that we feel through the next few hours of music can soon turn into action — like real action — that moves us forward together to create change for the safety of our kids and our loved ones,” she said.
