Great Show! Sound was awesome. Venue was a great size. Never sweated more in my life in the pit. Also opening bands were awesome! My first time seeing the Cro-mags so Obviously I was very excited to see them and they did not disappoint. Made me pull out some old straight edge hardcore albums to listen to. Wish I was straight edge fully...

Cro-Mags is a punk band who feature quite a level of thrash metal in the music that they write. Either way, their music features some fantastically technical riffs that some how just make you head bang when you listen to it. They have been doing their thing since 1981, which is when Harley Flanagan founded them. Over the course of their career they released five studio albums. Tonight, they are due to perform some of the biggest songs from their most recent album, “Revenge” for which it is an anniversary of when they released it. Their music has a lot of screaming in, and a lot of shouting from the singer, Jon Joseph and I cannot understand a single word he is saying but somehow this audience this evening absolutely loves it with the amount of circle pits opening up, there are some audience members running on to the stage to participate in a little bit of stage diving. No security guards were aloud in at this event.

Our top ten Cro-Mags songs list looks at the body of work of an American band best known for its impactful role in the early development of the New York hardcore scene. Formed in 1981, Cro-Mags joins Agnostic Front, Murphy’s Law, and Sick of It All in the list of the few remaining influential acts of the ‘80s New York hardcore scene. The band’s hardcore punk sound is most prevalent in the band’s earlier records.

However, later records by the band cited its move to incorporate crossover thrash in its hardcore sound. This saw Cro-Mags join Nuclear Assault , Dirty Rotten Imbeciles, Crumbsuckers, and Leeway in the list of bands that took on crossover thrash in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s. Over the years, Cro-Mags has issued six studio albums, the first four being the most sought-after records by the band.

Cro-Mags’ Career Beginnings

In September 1986, Cro-Mags issued their debut studio album  The Age of Quarrel  through Profile Records, a label (once home) to The Cucumbers, Sharon Brown, Run-D.M.C. , and Nemesis. The album is home to some of the best Cro-Mags songs including “Hard Times,” “We Gotta Know,” “Malfunction,” “It’s the Limit,” “World Peace,” and “Show You No Mercy.”

Working on the production of  The Age of Quarrel  was Chris Williamson, a record producer known for his work with Leeway, The Nils, and Dee Dee King. This hardcore punk studio album is the most momentous record ever released by the band. The album marked Cro-Mags’ breakthrough moment as one of the distinguished acts in the New York hardcore scene.

Cro-Mags’ Album Releases over the Years

After a successful debut studio album, Cro-Mags returned in 1989 with their sophomore studio album  Best Wishes . While Cro-Mags had quite some impact on the New York hardcore scene, this record finds the band already signaling evolution to crossover thrash/thrash metal sounds. On  Best Wishes,  Harley Flanagan played the bass while taking on the lead vocals following the departure of singer John Joseph.

Notably, Singer John Joseph once served as a roadie for the hardcore punk Bad Brains . “Crush the Demoniac,” “Age of Quarrel,” “Down but Not Out,” and “Death Camps” are some of the most popular songs by Cro-Mags from the album.  Best Wishes  was Cro-Mags’ final album released through Profile Records.

Alpha Omega , issued in 1992, marked the band’s third studio album and first record issued through Century Media Records. Outstanding artists/bands that have issued records through Century Media Records include Arch Enemy , Dark Tranquility , Lacuna Coil , Periphery, Suicide Silence, and Napalm Death .  Alpha Omega  saw John Joseph return to the band’s lineup taking on the vocals.

Harley Flanagan returned to his usual bass roles while still backing John Joseph on some of the songs on this album. Unfortunately, this record was without guitarist Parris Mayhew who had left the band’s lineup. “Paths of Perfection,” “The Other Side of Madness (Revenge),” and “Eyes of Tomorrow” are the best Cro-Mags songs from  Alpha Omega .

In 1993, Cro-Mags issued their fourth studio album  Near Death Experience . The album was the second record by the band issued through Century Media Records.  Near Death Experience  is the last album to feature John Joseph on the lead vocals. The album saw the band explore heavily the crossover thrash genre. Some of the musical gems from the album include “Time I Am,” “Near Death Experiences,” and “Kali-Yuga.”

Seven years later, Cro-Mags returned with their fifth studio album  Revenge . The album saw Harley Flanagan take on the lead vocals with Rocky George of Suicidal Tendencies playing the lead guitar.  Revenge  also welcomed back original rhythm guitarist Parris Mayhew to the band’s lineup. The album managed to reintroduce hardcore influences amidst the immense crossover thrash influences. “Without Her,” “Premeditated,” and “My Life” are some of the best Cro-Mags songs from  Revenge .

In the Beginning , issued in 2020, marked the band’s sixth studio album. The album came two decades after Cro-Mags’ fifth studio album.  In the Beginning  still featured Rocky George of Suicidal Tendencies on the lead guitars. Rocky also provided backing vocals to bassist Harley Flanagan’s lead vocals. Former Motörhead guitarist Phil Campbell is among the additional musicians featured on this record. “From the Grave,” “Between Wars,” and “No One’s Victim” are some of the top songs by Cro-Mags from the album.

Cro-Mags’ Legacy

Cro-Mags’ navigation in the music scene has been quite turbulent owing to the line-up changes. However, Cro-Mags joins Agnostic Front, Murphy’s Law, Madball, and Sick of It All as some of the most sought-after bands from the New York hardcore scene. Cro-Mags later releases saw the band venture heavily into the crossover thrash sound. Here we present the all-time best Cro-Mags songs.

#10- Without Her

Ushering us to the top ten Cro-Mags songs list is the outstanding hit “Without Her.” The song is among the top musical gems issued on the band’s fifth studio album  Revenge . “Without Her” finds the lead vocalist crooning about the endless thoughts about a gone lover. The lyrics showcase the singer’s inability to completely move on having him cite sleepless nights and the incompleteness of his life without the lady.

“Without Her” showcases the solid musicianship of rhythm guitarist Parris Mayhew and Rocky George of Suicidal Tendencies on the lead guitar. The two team up to give us some flaming guitar riffs which adequately complement the clean vocals of Harley Flanagan. “Without Her” is tinged with hardcore influences that point us back to Cro-Mags’ beginnings as an important act in the New York hardcore scene in the mid- ‘80s.

#9- Eyes of Tomorrow

Social and political commentary made part of the backbone of the New York hardcore scene as evidenced by some of its progenitors like Agnostic Front. Cro-Mags members were not left behind in giving us a piece of their piece of social critique in the track “Eyes of Tomorrow.” The song is one of the most sought-after songs from Cro-Mags’ third studio album  Alpha Omega .

In this song, Cro-Mags takes a swipe at the conduct of the people in the society who have less regard for the lives of others, the environment, and ethics. Fans of bands like Faith No More will definitely love this song due to the rare but noticeable rap-rock influences, especially in the first half of this hit. However, the band goes full-blown into its crossover thrash sound in the next half of the song! Unfortunately, listing “Eyes of Tomorrow” on this list was at the expense of top musical gems such as “Death Camps” from  Best Wishes .

#8- It’s the Limit

The Age of Quarrel , the band’s debut studio album, is one of the most crucial albums in the history of the New York hardcore scene. You can almost feel every song from the album calling for attention to feature on the ten best Cro-Mags songs. As a result, most of the fan-favorite hits from the band are featured on  The Ages of Quarrel . Introducing us to Cro-Mags’ impressive and pure hardcore sound is the hit “It’s the Limit.”

Spanning slightly over one and a half minutes, “It’s the Limit” is a must-listen fan-favorite hardcore song. The song is one of the heavily used Cro-Mags hits, featuring in the 2008 video game  Grand Theft Auto IV . Together with other hardcore songs from Bad Brains , Agnostic Front, Killing Time, and Murphy’s Law among others, “It’s the Limit” was also featured on the Liberty City Hardcore radio station. “It’s the Limit” has since its release been covered by several bands including American Nightmare and Hatebreed .

#7- From the Grave

Twenty years after Cro-Mags’ fifth studio album  Revenge , the band attempted to rekindle its musical pursuits with its record  In the Beginning . Among the top musical gems from  In the Beginning  is the seventh pick on our ten best Cro-Mags songs list “From the Grave.” The song is primarily a hardcore record, reminiscent of Cro-Mags’ stint as a prominent band in the New York hardcore scene back in the ‘80s.

“From the Grave” is proof of rekindled musicianship by Cro-Mags veneered with the impactful contribution of former Motörhead guitarist. Helping Cro-Mags reclaim its glory in the hardcore scene was Mission Two Entertainment, a label formed by the same team that saw acts/artists like Silverstein , Taking Back Sunday , and A Day to Remember succeed under Victory Records.

# 6 –  The Other Side of Madness (Revenge)

Number six on our ten best Cro-Mags songs list is the rip-roaring hit “The Other Side of Madness (Revenge).” The song is one of the most remarkable hits off the band’s third studio album  Alpha Omega . It is the ferocious vocal delivery by John Joseph backed by the awe-inspiring instrumentation that makes “The Other Side of Madness (Revenge)” one of the most sought-after tracks from the album Alpha Omega .

# 5 – World Peace

The Age of Quarrel , the band’s debut studio album, is home to the fifth best Cro-Mags song “World Peace.” Guitarist Parris Mayhew went ahead to reveal that he penned the music for this hit some years before he even joined Cro-Mags. The song would later become one of the most sought-after tracks upon release on the band’s debut LP  The Age of Quarrel .

“World Peace” finds the band giving us a pessimistic view of the peace in the world citing it to be not achievable. The song was a hardcore classic that became the musical template for  The Age of Quarrel . “World Peace” was covered in 2008 by the Swiss metalcore band Cataract.

#4- Paths of Perfection

“Paths of Perfection” is quite an alluring release—From the striking opening riff to the impressive vocal delivery, the song has got all the elements to crown it the best song off  Alpha Omega . The remarkable guitar solo as the song approaches the end makes “Paths of Perfection” a must-have track on your hardcore/crossover thrash playlist. “Paths of Perfection” is only rivaled by the catchy fan-favorite hit “The Other Side of Madness (Revenge)” for the title of ‘the best song of the album.’

#3- Age of Quarrel

It almost feels like a crime to have had only one song from the band’s sophomore studio album  Best Wishes  grace our ten best Cro-Mags songs list. As a result, we couldn’t have botched selecting what song to feature from the album. After building up the momentum for other songs with the impressive album opening track “Death Camps,” Cro-Mags went ahead to issue several other musical gems such as “Crush the Demoniac.”

However, the end of the album feels like the climax of this record thanks to the quality of the pulsating hit “Age of Quarrel.” The song is one of the heaviest tracks off the album  Best Wishes . “Age of Quarrel” is the quintessential track to the band’s musicianship on the album  Best Wishes . Thanks to the undeniable metal feel of this hit that it attracted the attention of Shadows Fall, who covered it in 2009.

#2- Hard Times

“Hard Times” is an emblem of Cro-Mags’ impact in the hardcore scene. The song serves as a perfect anthem to the New York hardcore scene spirit of the ‘80s. “Hard Times” finds the band reminding its fans that there is a need to grow some thick skin to fully shelter oneself against tough times. The song attracted the attention of many including the heavy metal band Machine Head who covered it in 1995.

#1 –  We Gotta Know

Number one on our ten best Cro-Mags songs list is the ravishing hit “We Gotta Know.” The song is one of the most popular tracks off the band’s debut studio album  The Age of Quarrel . “We Gotta Know” has its lyrics find lead vocalist John Joseph expressing his angst against deception.

Lots of fans have compared this hit’s instrumentation to that of “Malfunction,” another song off the band’s debut LP  The Age of Quarrel . Guitarist Mayhew clarified in an interview that the two songs have quite some similarities with “We Gotta Know” mimicking “Malfunction,” especially on its intro. “We Gotta Know” was covered by Sepultura in 2002.

Nice look back. Although I’d say strange choices of songs. The commentary about WITHOUT HER makes me wonder if the author listened to the song? It mentions rOcky’s solo and his playing on the song. There isn’t a solo on without her, unfortunately. His solos on other songs are stellar and perhaps the author simply was referring to Rocky’s overall presence on the album, but there isn’t a solo on this song. And since there is no solo Rock didn’t perform on this song at all, the later fact I can see how that would have eluded the author since the particulars of who played what is buried in the liner notes. Rock came in after songs were complete and then we recorded his solos. And awesome cherry on top. Although I wasn’t on the Alpha Omega album, it didn’t stop HF from recording my songs. And I am gratified that the author lists OTHER SIDE OF MADNESS as “the best song on the album” since I was the primary writer of the music on that song and many others on that album, I say primary because they just took my existing song, and added an ending to it. I was very saddened when I heard the album with music I wrote that was simply stolen, recorded and presented as if they wrote it themselves and I was uncredited. There are alot better songs on the actual Cro-Mags records what I believe are far superior to many on this list, but that is down to the individual tastes, I would have mentioned, show you no mercy, down but not out, Tore up and Malfunction. But either way I’m glad all the songs from my high school band are still a topic of conversation long after the band ended. Retro-acts aside.

Hey Parris, Thanks for coming to the site. We do our best to give as much information about a band as we can and of course, sometimes there is not a lot of info on who played on what. We listen to every song, and like you said, song favorites are subjective. In the end, our goal is to turn music fans onto bands like the Cro-Mags and to get them to check your group out even further by buying your records. Your comments are very helpful and offer much more genuine insight into the group. We will do a complete discography on your group soon and try to gather as much complete info as we can. Love these songs. We are here for musicians and songwriters such as yourself! Thanks Brian Kachejian Editor-In-Chief

Oasis fans report sky-high prices, glitches while trying to purchase reunion tour tickets

Oasis may have told listeners to not "look back in anger" in a hit song, but fans of the band are doing just that after reporting problems with concert giant Ticketmaster.

The British rockers, known for hits like “Wonderwall,” “Champagne Supernova" and, yes, "Don't Look Back in Anger," announced in August that they would reunite for a tour for the first time in 15 years.

But some Oasis fans say when they tried to purchase tickets to concerts scheduled for next year in the U.K. and Ireland over the weekend, Ticketmaster let them down.

Oasis.

Outraged fans have taken to social media where they report experiencing extensive wait times, system glitches and head-spinning surges in ticket prices for the concert dates.

On Aug. 31, British journalist Faye White posted a time-lapsed video on TikTok to document her experience when she tried to purchase Oasis concerts.

“I’ve been in the line now for an hour and a half and there’s still 14,000 people ahead of me,” White said at one point. Later, White said Ticketmaster offered her three tickets at prices equal to between $555 and $660 per ticket.

“I just think it’s too much,” White said, adding, “So it’s the end of the road for me.”

British YouTube star Paul Wood posted a nearly seven-minute rant on TikTok and Instagram to express his frustration with Ticketmaster after he said he unsuccessfully tried to secure Oasis tickets for nine hours.

“Where do we start with Ticketmaster? The fact that your systems can’t handle this is an absolute joke. We’re in 2024, people. And your systems can’t handle the traffic. Disgrace," Wood said in a video.

British television host Dan Walker posted on X about his own frustrations when he tried to purchase Oasis tickets, writing, “There has got to be a fairer, simpler, more efficient way of selling tickets that isn’t so open to touts, scammers, resellers & bots.”

“In the queue, out of the queue, refresh / don’t refresh, wait in line, back of the line, accused of being a bot… timed out,” Walker said.

A message on Ticketmaster UK’s website stated the ticket distribution company doesn’t set prices for concert tickets. “Promoters and artists set ticket prices. Prices can be either fixed or market-based. Market-based tickets are labeled as ‘Platinum’ or ‘In Demand,’” the message states.

Official "Platinum" tickets are not resale tickets, rather the price is adjusted based on supply and demand, "similar to how airline tickets and hotel rooms are sold," according to a blog post on Ticketmaster's website.

While Oasis didn't directly address the issues fans faced when they tried to purchase tickets to its concerts over the weekend, the band repeatedly warned fans on X to be wary of counterfeit and void tickets. "Tickets can ONLY be resold, at face value, via @TicketmasterUK and @Twickets," read one of band's messages.

NBC News reached out to Ticketmaster and Live Nation for comment but didn’t hear back at the time of publication.

It's a story familiar to Taylor Swift fans who faced similar i ssues when they tried to purchase tickets to t he “Eras Tour” from Ticketmaster.

In November 2022, Ticketmaster bungled a presale rollout for Swift's "verified" fans who applied for a code to early ticket access. Many applicants never received a code or were waitlisted for one.

On Nov. 15, 2022, the day the presale began, Ticketmaster.com crashed, leaving those lucky enough to receive a code waiting in online queues for hours .

The same day, Ticketmaster issued a statement addressing the glitches, saying there has been “historically unprecedented demand” for tickets to Swift's concerts.

Another presale for Capital One card holders was marred by similar problems, prompting Ticketmaster to cancel a ticket sale to the general public.

Swift herself responded to the fiasco in a lengthy message on social media, saying the situation "really pisses me off."

"It goes without saying that I’m extremely protective of my fans,” Swift said Nov. 18, 2022, on her Instagram story. “It’s really difficult for me to trust an outside entity with these relationships and loyalties, and excruciating for me to just watch mistakes happen with no recourse."

Swift went on to say that she was "trying to figure out" what exactly had gone wrong on Ticketmaster's end.

"I’m not going to make excuses for anyone because we asked them, multiple times, if they could handle this kind of demand and we were assured they could," she told fans.

Ticketmaster followed up by issuing an apology to Swift's fans for their "terrible experience." In a statement on its website , the company explained that not only did a “record number of fans” seek tickets for Swift's concert tour, the company was also besieged by a "staggering number of bot attacks" as well.

Some U.S. lawmakers and state authorities took note of the brouhaha at the time and criticized Ticketmaster, alleging it had a monopoly over the distribution and sale of concert tickets.

Sen. Amy Klobuchar, a Minnesota Democrat, told Ticketmaster in an open letter that she had "serious concerns about the state of competition in the ticketing industry and its harmful impact on consumers.”

“Ticketmaster’s power in the primary ticket market insulates it from the competitive pressures that typically push companies to innovate and improve their services,” wrote Klobuchar. “That can result in the types of dramatic service failures we saw this week, where consumers are the ones that pay the price.”

Meanwhile, Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti announced plans to launch an anti-trust probe into Ticketmaster, Nashville NBC affiliate  WSMV reported .

“There is an incentive there for the company to profit twice off the sale of these ticket,” Skrmetti said, according to WSMV. “I am not saying it happened, but we are going to make absolutely sure it didn’t.”

In May 2024, the U.S. Department of Justice, joined by 30 state and district attorneys general, filed a civil antitrust lawsuit against Ticketmaster and Live Nation for "monopolization and other unlawful conduct that thwarts competition in markets across the live entertainment industry."

The lawsuit "seeks to restore competition in the live concert industry, provide better choices at lower prices for fans, and open venue doors for working musicians and other performance artists."

Live Nation's Executive Vice President for Corporate and Regulatory Affairs Dan Wall wrote in a lengthy blog post on the company's website that the case "misleads the public into thinking that ticket prices will be lower if something is done about Live Nation and Ticketmaster."

"This lawsuit against Live Nation and Ticketmaster won’t reduce ticket prices or service fees," Wall said.

The Timely Dude-ology of MJ Lenderman

The in-demand sideman and Wednesday guitarist sharpens his tragicomic musical portraiture on a new solo album, “Manning Fireworks.”

MJ Lenderman sits on a bench, surrounded by foliage, and plays a guitar.

By Will Hermes

MJ Lenderman has been traveling light. In a London Airbnb on a recent afternoon, the 25-year-old rock musician (the MJ is for Mark Jacob; friends call him Jake) had a day off from his summer European tour with the band Wednesday, with plans to catch a screening of “Alien: Romulus.” Asked if he’d picked up any souvenirs on his travels, he searched his luggage, producing just a Nature’s Bakery fig bar and a bottle of tequila.

“I tend to not buy things on tour,” he said on a video call, dressed in a T-shirt with the logo of a friend’s record label (Sophomore Lounge). And the success of Wednesday’s most recent album, “Rat Saw God” from 2023, has kept him on the road. The LP, earmarked by his laconically fierce guitar and the frontwoman Karly Hartzman’s vivid storytelling, elevated the band to a new tier. Lenderman’s guitar and vocal harmonies are also prominent on “Tigers Blood,” the acclaimed LP by the kindred Southern indie rock act Waxahatchee, particularly on its single “ Right Back to It ,” his standout duet with the singer-songwriter Katie Crutchfield.

This Friday, Lenderman releases his latest solo album, “Manning Fireworks,” doubling down on his skills as a singer-songwriter frontman — skills on striking display on the single “ She’s Leaving You ,” a Neil Young-style country-rocker involving an unfortunate character who evidently discovers that what happens in Las Vegas doesn’t necessarily stay in Vegas. Opening on the withering couplet “You can put your clothes back on/She’s leaving you,” it accrues comically damning details on a downward spiral that resolves with an incongruously anthemic chorus. “It falls apart,” Lenderman drawls, offering cold comfort over a terrifically catchy hook, “We all got work to do.”

The combination of humor and poignancy — John Prine was a master of it — is a trick few songwriters can pull off. Lenderman can. “I tend to like that in the stuff that I consume,” he said, listing some creative touchstones. “Larry Brown — I’ve read most of his books. Harry Crews. Certain filmmakers, like Todd Solondz. The Coen brothers. I love David Berman’s songwriting. Will Oldham. Bill Callahan, too; his lyrics are super airtight. I’ve been obsessed with ‘ 37 Push Ups ’ — it’s an old Smog song. Whatever that character is, is kind of a blueprint for the kind of characters I like to write about.”

On “Manning Fireworks ,” those characters might be described as Questionable Dudes. “Wristwatch” is a droll sketch of a braggart inspired, Lenderman explained, by Andrew Tate and “this idea of alpha males gaining popularity. People spend thousands of dollars thinking they can learn how to be the ‘perfect man’ or something. It’s embarrassing.” Lenderman describes the lyrics of the title track as “kind of a laundry list of what makes this character a jerk,” one that builds from the couplet “One of these days you’ll kill a man/For asking a question you don’t understand.” The album is a flipbook of misshapen masculinity, toxic and otherwise.

“I love the conversational nature of his writing,” said Patterson Hood of Drive-By Truckers, a fellow Southern rock storyteller whose records Lenderman grew up admiring. “And no matter what he’s singing about, even if it ends up being kind of dark or sad, there’s that ray of humor and light in it that’s really appealing.”

Hood sees him as a triple threat: a great writer, singer, “killer” guitar player. “And there’s that thing you can’t quite put your finger on that some people have — he’s got that star thing, for sure. Which is a wonderful thing to behold in somebody who’s also a really cool person, and has songs that good.”

Lenderman was born and raised in Asheville, N.C., and attended Catholic school until he convinced his parents to let him start public school in seventh grade. The church was “basically our whole lives, until we all got confirmed,” he explained. “I have a big family, three sisters, so part of it is maybe it was a good way to keep everybody organized. And all our friends were there, so it was a big part of our social life, too.”

Lenderman’s parents also took the family to the annual Lake Eden Arts Festival, a “hippie festival,” as he put it, on the former grounds of Black Mountain College, a fabled incubator of American modernist art and poetry that is now the site of a summer camp where Lenderman attended church retreats. He also played basketball and the video game Guitar Hero (he’s referenced both in lyrics) as a youth, eventually picking up a real guitar. As a student at the University of North Carolina, he played drums and sang in a stoner metal punk band called Slugly , and fell in with a network of rising talents. One was Indigo De Souza , whom he recorded and toured with. The other was Hartzman, who convinced him to join her band, Wednesday, in 2020. He did, and they became a couple, though they’ve recently split.

“In a small town, the music community just kind of enmeshes itself,” Hartzman said on a video call from a recent tour stop in Budapest, recounting the band’s history. She appreciates how she and Lenderman have challenged each other creatively, to “live up to what the other one was doing all the time,” she said. “I think that made us both a lot better as musicians.” (Lenderman has credited Hartzman with spurring him to read more, which upped his writing game.)

Crutchfield, who was “blown away” when she first saw Lenderman perform at South by Southwest in 2022 and became “obsessed” with his solo LP “ Boat Songs ,” notes the evolution, too. “He has this amazing knack for taking a vocal melody and reworking it in a totally different way, so two melodies kind of exist together that are similar but not quite the same,” she said.

And both collaborators admire his guitar playing. “The name of the game with guitar players is taste, because you can get so corny so fast,” Hartzman said. “He’ll put a little bit of corniness in, but when he does it, you’re just like: That was the perfect place to get corny.”

Lenderman seems untroubled by the buzz suddenly swirling around him. (The video for “She’s Leaving You,” which features him in a kind of slacker talent show with a couple of cheerleaders who look exported from Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” clip, suggests a similarly side-eyed sendup of his situation.) His schedule is packed — his solo tour starts in October, right after the Wednesday tour ends, plus there are one-off appearances with Waxahatchee, with whom he’s been making new recordings. So he’s trying to pace himself: practicing self-care, staying conscious of his alcohol consumption, hydrating.

“I think if I was doing my music all the time and being the sole center of attention, it would probably drive me a little crazy,” he said. “I’ve become a much better musician in general by supporting other people.”

The result is a series of lessons in musicianship — and humility — that he’s taken into his own music, too: “It’s good to be reminded that you can trust other people to come in and give good or even better ideas than what I could come up with myself.”

Ticketmaster’s Dynamic Pricing Faces U.K. Government Investigation After Oasis Reunion Tour Sale

By Cheyenne Roundtree

Cheyenne Roundtree

The U.K. Government will investigate Ticketmaster and other online sellers’ dynamic pricing strategy after Oasis reunion tour tickets nearly tripled in price due to the large demand of fans trying to nab seats to the summer 2025 shows. After millions of fans endured long virtual wait times and multiple site crashes while trying to secure tickets to the much-anticipated reunion tour, it was a further blow that general admission tickets listed in the pre-sale for £150 ($197) had long disappeared by Saturday morning. Instead, new tickets called “In Demand Standing” were available for upwards of £400 ($525). The hike is part of Ticketmaster and others’ controversial pricing strategy that causes ticket prices to fluctuate dramatically when there is high demand for a particular show. In recent years, it’s prompted outrage among fans when trying to secure tickets to see Bruce Springsteen and other artists. (A spokesperson for Ticketmaster previously told Rolling Stone that “promoters and artist representatives set pricing strategy and price range parameters on all tickets, including dynamic and fixed price points.”) Following the Oasis ticket fiasco, U.K. culture minister Lisa Nandy told the BBC that the government plans to investigate companies’ use of dynamic pricing to stave off “rip-off resales” and ensure tickets are sold “at fair prices.” It was “depressing,” Nandy said, “to see vastly inflated prices excluding ordinary fans from having a chance of enjoying their favorite band live.” The government already had a meeting on the books to discuss ticket resale websites and their practices in the fall, Nandy said, with dynamic pricing now becoming a focal point of the talks. Nandy wasn’t the only official to decry the practice. Labour MP David Baines said it was “shocking to hear that Ticketmaster UK are now using ‘dynamic pricing’ to fleece fans and rake in the cash … [and it’s] especially insulting for those who have queued all day.” And Dublin official Regina Doherty said Ireland’s governing body should also investigate the matter. Oasis’ reunion tour is highly anticipated, and in an effort to protect fans from price-gouging scalpers (some tickets listed for $8,300 on resale sites), the band said only tickets bought on the primary market or at face value ticket exchange through Ticketmaster will be honored. “Tickets sold in breach of the terms and conditions will be canceled by the promoters,” the band posted on X. Oasis’ reuniting comes 15 years after their dramatic breakup in 2009. “The guns have fallen silent,” the band said in a statement about the comeback. “The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised.”
