Take a Trip to Wild Animal Safari in Pine Mountain, Georgia
Wild Animal Safari in Pine Mountain, Georgia is one of the best wildlife adventures around! This sensational safari is just minutes away from its neighbor, the magnificent Callaway Gardens and near the “Little White House” in Warm Springs, Georgia!
My family and I made smart scheduling of our travel calendar and decided while visiting Callaway Gardens (which by the way is an unbelievable place to go with all its beauty and wonder) we would adventure out and go to Wild Animal Safari, minutes away. After which the following day we went to the “Little White House” and learned much about America’s history and the 32nd president of the United States AND the only President to be elected to 4 consecutive terms in office! We stayed at the Lodge & Spa at Callaway the night before and got up early to make plans to be at the safari when it opened. We were so glad we did!
The Wild Animal Safari is habitat to many different types of animal species from across the globe. The park’s hundreds of acres provides visitors with the experience of seeing firsthand wildlife including Bengal tigers, bears, alligators, llamas, alpacas, lemurs, deer, exotic birds, peacocks, monkeys, camels, zebras, ostriches, giraffes, bison, and many other animals. It makes a lifetime experience for all age groups, and offers a memorable glimpse into the world’s diverse wildlife. Wild Animal Safari offers an exceptional learning experience to both young and old. It’s a must-see attraction for those seeking unique adventures and an up-close encounter with exotic wildlife.
Purchase an Animal Encounter
Ankole longhorn, feeding the animals on the drive-thru wildlife safari, stroll through and enjoy the walkabout adventure zoo, eat at the safari cafe and browse the gift shop, contact information, there you have it.
Wild Animal Safari makes for a perfect day trip and is one of the area’s most popular family-friendly experiences. It provides you with tons of laughs and family filled memories.
A visit to the Wild Animal Safari park provides many possibilities to appreciate amazing wildlife in a safari environment.
Watch my video and then enjoy my blog post on the Wild Animal Safari!
Animal Encounters, guided by the Wild Animal Safari’s conservation team and education staff provides exclusive experiences with several of the park’s most popular animals. We did not do the animal encounters, but this program allows you to get up front and close and learn about selected resident animals. Reach out to Wild Animal Safari for more information and prices about Animal Encounters.
Drive-Thru the Wildlife Safari and See Tons of Animals
The 3.5-mile drive-thru wildlife safari allows tour visitors to see animals of all kinds that roam freely without any restraint in their environment. Not only can you see them up close, but you can feed them from the comfort of your vehicle or the Wild Animal Safari’s vehicle.
Visitors have several options in taking the drive-thru tour. You can take the safari adventure from the ease of your own vehicle, or ride in Wild Animal Safari’s complimentary Tour Bus, (cost included in the ticket price) driven by an Animal Safari tour guide, or rent one of the Wild Animal Safari park’s windowless Zebra vans.
The Tour Buses are contingent on the busier seasons of the year when there are ample enough visitors to ride the bus.
The Zebra windowless vans are capable of holding up to 6 and up to 12 passengers for rent.
We decided to take the option for the complimentary bus tour. It was the most affordable option available, and we were very comfortable. The Bus Tour guide, as he spoke through a microphone, provided knowledge in describing animals as they walked slowly approaching our bus. As he spoke, a giraffe walked up and stuck her head inside the bus, wanting feed from the bus tour passengers. We were able to see firsthand and up-close how large a giraffe really is as compared to the height of the bus itself. It was amazing to see the giraffe up close!
The Zebra vans rental was somewhat out of our budget comfort zone and taking our own vehicle was not even a consideration for us. Many of the safari’s guests drove their own vehicles or rented a zebra van as they enjoyed their wildlife adventure.
Here are a few of the animals that we experienced on the drive-thru wildlife safari.
Watusi or ‘Ankole-Watusi’, also known as Ankole Longhorn, is a breed of cattle originally from Africa. Immediately when I saw them, I thought they were Texas Longhorn cattle. They do resemble each other!
Giraffes are native to north-eastern Kenya, Somalia and Ethiopia. They are considered to be an endangered species. There are less than 5,000 living in the world. When fully grown, they are 16 to 20 feet tall and can weigh up to 1,800 pounds.
I would offer a huge suggestion. When buying and securing your ticket at the Ticket Booth upon arrival for a FUN TIME buy some feed for the animals for the Drive-Thru Wildlife Safari and buy PLENTY. The Gift Shop also has feed avalable for purchase. There are many animals, and they will come up to your vehicle window to eat out of your hand. So consider purchasing ample enough feed when you buy your ticket for the safari, to not miss out on this fun filled experience!
The park’s self-guided Walkabout Adventure Zoo provides an awesome opportunity for visitors to walk at their own pace and encounter resident wildlife. With a diverse selection of wildlife to see, the Wild Animal Safari in Pine Mountain offers an educational and entertaining adventure for visitors of all ages. See the Safari’s resident Bengal tigers, African lions, peacocks, exotic birds, lemurs, monkeys, alligators, bears and much more.
The Walkabout Adventure Zoo was enjoyable and relaxing. The Zoo’s property was well maintained and systematically organized. The information boards were very interesting and enlightening. I learned much about the resident animals at the zoo.
Safari café, an onsite eatery has a full menu to satisfy your appetite including sandwiches, burgers, hotdogs, chicken tenders, pizza, chips, and drinks and more. Also browse by the souvenir and gift shop that carries t-shirts, stuffed animals, toys and much more to purchase a special keepsake of your visit to remember your trip.
The Wild Animal Safari in Pine Mountain, Georgia is a terrific attraction to visit and spend time seeing numerous animals. My family and I immensely enjoyed the bus tour of the drive-thru Wildlife Safari and the Walkabout Adventure Zoo. Seeing and learning about these animals was an amazing adventure we had never experienced before.
As always have an enjoyable and eventful FUN time when visiting these amazing places but most of all travel safe!

Is there dog kennels available in the Safari?
Hi Candice. Yes, we do have dog kennels at the Pine Mountain Safari, Wild Animal Safari. Check in at the ticket building. Hope you have a great visit. www.animalsafari.com.
How ethical is this place? Meaning were the animals healthy, treated well, in nice living conditions, etc.
Seems like it. In the walkabout, each animal had a shaded area so they can hide from the sun. Some even had air conditioned room for them to go inside. They all had little play areas in their cages as well. As far as the actual safari, the animals… more

My babies had the time of there lives thanks for the experience we are coming back very soon captain jack
I used to go here when I was younger. I took my kids for spring break and they loved it just as much as I did years ago!!
Wildly entertaining! I'm glad we did it. The kids had a blast and so did my husband and I! They had a nice assortment of animals and loved that they had lions. The giraffe looked so sad though, lol.
If you live in Georgia and haven't visited the Wild Animal Safari in Pine Mountain, GA. This is your sign to go. We had an unforgettable time here. I purchased my tickets in advance and choose to rent one of their vehicles. We arrived and hour early and walked around the walk-about. We checked in and feed the kids and waited for our car to be ready. As we drove through the park, we encountered bisons, emus, zebras, and many more. The highlight of the trip was watching my kids face light up when one of the animals walked over to be feed. Some things I recommend: - use the restroom before your drive - bring water - Rent their vehicles *** - wear gloves to avoid slobber *** - bring clorox wipes to wipe down the chairs and inside of the rental cars before getting inside *** - a camera to capture all the memories

Saw this safari on TikTok and decided to take my little cousins here and it was so much fun !! It was fun interacting with these animals, very unique experience.
We have been to wild animal safari twice now. Both times have been so much fun. First visit was a few years back. This year we decided it would probably be a good idea to buy a season pass since we hope to visit more often. After this second visit we know for sure we will be back. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Even if they didn't know the answer to something they would reach out to someone for an answer for us. The animals were so pleasing to watch and look at. We didn't have enough time to walk around with a little one so we will make sure to give ourself enough time next time and to buy plenty of food for our animal friends I would recommend to anyone.
Feeding the animals
A Family Hit! We had a blast exploring the wide variety of animals. The price was totally reasonable, and driving through the safari with my family was a highlight. Letting the kids feed the animals was a super cool experience - they absolutely loved it. We're definitely planning a return trip!
Overall, it was a nice outing. I took my kids there a few weeks ago. I was SOOOOO happy I could drive my own car, because those busses and vans looked dirty and HOTTTT (since they didn't have windows)! Lots of deer and bison; limited giraffes. My kids were scared to death of the ostrich that came to our window! I wish we'd bought more good though. Whatever you do.....don't buy the tshirts! I bought a L for me. After 2 washes, its now a S! $24 wasted! And such a cute design! Can't say I'll go back...but, one less thing off my Atlanta-to-do list!
We visited Wild Animal Safari on a school field trip. We had the entire kindergarten class with us - which was about 140 kids + teachers/parents. The plan was where half of the kindergarteners would do the walk through - while the other half did the drive through and then swap while also doing lunch in between. This did not take place - before we could even get done with the walk through we were told we had to rush to the buses to load for the drive through. Mind you - our kindergarteners have lunch around 11:20 it was now 12:30 and they still have not eaten. The drive through takes about an hour+ = but while waiting to take off - we are then told we have to squeeze in so ALL 140 kids could loaded the buses - which meant - no teachers and only some parents. The most unorganized field trip I've ever been on. There was not enough staff to accommodate our group. They were not the friendliest either as there was lack of communication amongst themselves. If we ever come again it 100% would not be on a field trip and I highly doubt our school ever comes either.
Extremely disappointed in this place. We paid $236 for 5 people only to see 80% deer and pigs. The single giraffe and camel are in very small enclosures, the lions exhibit is all but bare and nothing but a glorified dog kennel, the bear and both tigers look beyond stressed out, and every animal except the pigs looks unhealthy. The entire place looks like it has not been kept up with at all. We have been to other safari parks that we enjoy supporting because they are so well kept and the animals seem so happy and healthy. This place is just pitiful. These animals need to be set free or placed where they have some type of quality of life because this place is not it. Even the reptile area is basically empty and the sloths have the smallest enclosure I've ever seen them in. The open area safari is truly all deer and pigs. The walk through area is dirty and smelly and everything needs a pressure washing and painting. I don't know what they are doing with the money they charge for entry, but it's not going into upkeep and healthy animals at all!
