Bow Wow Owns Part Of The Scream Tour ’23
The Black Promoters Collective, the group responsible for Maxwell’s 2022 “The Night Tour” featuring Joe and Anthony Hamilton , is partnering with Bow Wow for a return of the “Scream Tour.”
Bow Wow, along with B2K , Marques Houston , and Pretty Ricky , were the faces of the original Scream Tour, which ran in the summers of 2001-2012. Bow Wow is set to have an ownership stake in the reincarnation, formally known as “Scream Tour ‘23,” according to a report from Yahoo Finance .
“We are excited to partner with Bow Wow on the Scream Tour as he is the original face of the brand, and we have had the pleasure of working with him for many years on other tours we have produced,” Gary Guidry , CEO of The Black Promoters Collective, said in a press release . “By introducing the “Scream Tour ’23” and featuring an incredible lineup of rising stars, we aim to create a one-of-a-kind experience for fans, allowing them to relive their teenage years while introducing the next generation to the magic of live music.”
The Black Promoters Collective was largely formed as a part of the moment after the George Floyd protests when the nation seemed like it was ready for a real reckoning of its history with race. Composed of several of the top Black independent promoters and Black veterans of the live entertainment industry including Guidry, the group’s mission was focused on doing things with Black people at the forefront.
In 2021 Guidry told Afrotech about the group’s motivations :
”When the pandemic hit, we were able to slow down and we started to just talk and say, ‘This is our time to take a stand, come together, and discuss our culture,” Guidry told Afrotech in 2021. “Through that discussion, we started to just really see a bigger picture that it was bigger than us and bigger than just doing concerts. This was about culture. This was about our culture being marketed by people who have no connection.”

The tour will also include DJs Amira & Kayla and Sophia Rocks and will have special performances from King Harris , the son of T.I. Tickets are currently on sale for 23 cities.

The millennial Scream Tour franchise is being reimagined for 2023, but with young, burgeoning artists of today. Presented by R&B group WanMor — sons of Boyz II Men’s Wanyá Morris — the quartet is bringing some of Gen Z’s favorite artists to the stage this August.
The tour, powered by Black Promoters Collective, is set to kick off August 18 in Charlotte before concluding in New Orleans. Other major stops include Philadelphia, Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta, New York, St. Louis, Miami, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Dallas and Houston.
Check out the bill below:
Scream Tour’ 23 Next Up will give fans of WanMor a chance to see the group’s skills live , as well as recruit newer fans who are curious about the next wave in R&B. The tour, similar to the “ Scream Tours ” of the early 2000’s that included B2K, Chris Brown, Bow Wow and more, will give a modern feel to the golden nostalgia that many 30-somethings of today remember.
The brothers, who all have the same government, but different nicknames include: Wanyá Morris II, III, IV and V, a.k.a Big Boy, 18, Chulo, 17, Tyvas, 16, and Rocco, 12. The group is the first act signed to Mary J. Blige’s 300 Ent. imprint, Beautiful Life Productions, and recently earned a nod at the 2023 BET Awards for Best Group.
WanMor Is The New Wave, Not A Second Coming
“There’s been so much conversation about the state of R&B, and the next generation of R&B artists. This generation has been giving us great R&B, and that feeling, that soul and that sound remains in our DNA,” Blige expressed in a statement upon signing the boys. “When we heard WanMor sing, we knew we could stop looking. They are IT! Supporting and cultivating true R&B talent is why I started Beautiful Life Productions, and I couldn’t be more proud to do this with these young men.”

Good 4 us: 5 takeaways from Olivia Rodrigo’s first night in Boston on the Guts tour
One thing was clear following the first of two sold-out Guts Tour shows at TD Garden: Boston is “happier” with Olivia Rodrigo.
Review & setlist: Boston is ‘so obsessed’ with Olivia Rodrigo
As colorful, star-shaped confetti rained down on the crowd Monday night, fans could feel a sense of relief and freedom in the air. The show was, in many ways, a cathartic release of emotions.
“I want everyone in here up and out of your seats,” Rodrigo told the crowd, welcoming everyone to the Guts World Tour. “I want you to jump around. I want you to scream.”
And scream, they did. At various points throughout the night, Rodrigo encouraged fans to let loose and release anything that might be stressing them out.
Toward the end of “all-American bitch,” Rodrigo asked the crowd to think about something that really enrages them, wait for the lights to turn off, and then scream.
“You’re going to scream at the top of your lungs, can you do that?” she said, as the crowd roared back.
Here are some takeaways from Monday night’s show:
You want the moon? For her fans, Rodrigo reaches for the stars
For her performances of “logical” and “enough for you,” Rodrigo not only shot for the moon; she actually rode one as she dangled atop a large, purple crescent moon, suspending above the floor seats. As she moved above the crowd and around the arena, the singer made sure to shout out those seated in the different levels of the balcony.
‘Growing up is so f—ing awesome’
From her debut album “Sour” to her sophomore album “Guts,” Rodrigo’s growth is clear not only in the lyrics and her voice, but in her confidence, too.
Ahead of performing “teenage dream,” Rodrigo opened up about the writing process and how she has come into our own since she first came up with the lyrics.
“I wrote this next song a few days before I turned 19 at a time where I just thought growing up was the scariest, worst thing in the world. I cried on every birthday,” she told the mostly female and overall, notably young crowd.
Reflecting on her most recent birthday in February though, she said, “I’m 21 now and I feel so happy and I feel like I know myself so well and if I could give any advice to my 18-year-old self, it would be that growing up is f–––ing awesome and you have no idea how much excitement and joy lies ahead of you.”
Boston fans are ‘so obsessed’
Rodrigo took time during the show to scan the arena and admire fans’ fits – a wave of purple, sequins, ribbons, sashes, and other music video-inspired themes.
“What a gorgeous crowd. Oh my god, I can’t believe my eyes,” she said, as fan cameras panned around. Watch the video below:
Boston.com also caught up with some fans before the show. Take a look at some of their looks:
Rodrigo’s all-female band and dancers bring the fire
The energy of Monday night’s show would not have been the same without Rodrigo’s incredible all-female band and a team of backup dancers.
Check out the “love is embarrassing” choreography for an example below:
Boston’s love for Chappell Roan is anything but ‘casual’
Rodrigo’s opener, Chappell Roan, kicked off the show with powerful hits like “Femininomenon,” “Red Wine Supernova,” “Pink Pony Club,” and the fiery dance bop, “HOT TO GO!”
This week’s two tour stops in Boston were especially bittersweet for Roan, as she noted it was the last city on the Guts World Tour that she would be serving as Rodrigo’s opener.
“But I’m glad it was Boston,” Roan said, as the crowd cheered.
Later in the show, Rodrigo, who she shares producer Dan Nigro with Roan, spoke highly of the Midwest Princess.
“How incredible was Chappell Roan?” Rodrigo asked the crowd. “She’s amazing. I’m a big fan. She was actually my No. 1 artist on Spotify Wrapped last year.”
For those who missed Monday night’s show and are unable to get resale tickets for Tuesday night’s sold-out show, there will still be another opportunity to see Roan live this spring. The “Super Graphic Ultra Modern Girl” singer returns to Boston on Sunday, May 26 for Boston Calling .

Fans Are Theorizing About Scream 7’s Opening Kill, And I’ve Got My Own Idea About Who Ghostface Should Murder
Scream 7 is in development, and fans are debating who the opening kill might be.
The horror genre has been thriving for years now, with fans like me enjoying the current renaissance. Some of the best horror movies returned to theaters with new sequels, including the beloved slasher Scream . After recent movies like Scream VI broke records for the franchise , Paramount ordered a seventh movie. Fans are debating who the opening kill of Scream 7 might be, and I've got my own idea about who Ghostface should murder.
What we know about Scream 7 is limited, as the project is still fairly early in its development process. But news that Neve Campbell is returning as Sidney Prescott has fans hyped for the upcoming horror movie , and theorizing about what director Kevin Williamson might be bringing to theaters. But I personally like my idea better. Let's break it down.
Some fans think Josh Segarra's Danny is doomed.
The last two Scream movies (which are streaming with a Paramount+ subscription ) largely focused on the Carpenter sisters. Scream 7 introduced a new love interest for Melissa Barrera's Sam, with Josh Segarra playing "hot neighbor" Danny. Some fans on Reddit think he might be the opening kill, possibly inspired by Cotton Weary dying in the first scene from Scream 3 . As one fan posted:
The opening kill will probably be Danny, considering his role is similar to Cotton from Scream 2, who dies in Scream 3, the opening, and since Scream 5 is similar to Scream 1, Scream 6 is similar to Scream 2, Scream 7 will probably be similar to Scream 3.
It should be interesting to see if Scream 7 ends up having connective tissue to the third movie. Fans noticed how S cream VI mirrored Scream 2 by taking the surviving characters out of Woodsboro to a new location for college. And as such, some folks think a Cotton-inspired opening kill is coming in the next film.
Of course, Danny isn't the only name being tossed around as the possible first kill for Scream VI . And with OG writer Kevin Williamson behind the camera for the upcoming sequel, it feels like just about anything could happen... including killing legacy characters in the first scene.
Could Hayden Panettiere's Kirby die so quickly?
Scream fans were thrilled when Hayden Panettiere returned as Kirby Reed in Scream VI , as many of us didn't believe she actually died in the fourth movie. She managed to survive the ending of Scream VI , opening the door for another appearance. But some people think her time might be cut short as the opening kill for the next movie. As another redditor theorized:
Kirby - I think for a lot of the same reasons as number 1. The shock factor and the fact they would kill a loved character would really set the tone for the movie. Could mirror how Cotton was killed in 3.
Clearly fans think that Scream VI will be inspired by Wes Craven 's third movie, which ended the original trilogy of films. Sine Williamson is at the helm, this seems all the more likely. Still, I think another legacy character should be the first kill in the next installment of the franchise.

Heather Matarazzo's Martha Meeks should be the opening kill.
For my money, I think that Martha Meeks would be the best choice for the opening kill of Scream VI . Her death would seemingly set ripples through the characters of the franchise. Perhaps with Dewey already dead, this would inspire Sydney to return to Woodsboro to once again duke it out with Ghostface.
What's more, Martha's death would definitely hit home for her kids, Mindy and Chad Meeks-Martin, played by Jasmin Savoy Brown and Mason Gooding respectfully. And since Heather Matarazzo returned for a small role in 2022's Scream , it seems logical that she might be back. And that actress has experience as a scream queen, including her role in Hostel 2 .
We'll just have to wait and see what Kevin Williamson and company have up their sleeves for Scream 7 . While we wait, check out the 2024 movie release dates .
