The only thing I changed was I had to get a lil wider tires than what it came with

I've had my trek since 2006. Loved it till last week when going up a small hill in high gear the Crank Arm snapped in half. Went down hard . Messed me up pretty Good. Just wondering if this has ever happened to anyone else out there . Would figure these arms would last a lifetime!!!

What's a 15 year old Trek 7100 worth?

A friend of mine is in need of cash and her husband wants to sell his 15 year old Trek 7100. They said it's in good condition but I haven't seen it yet. What should I expect to pay for something like this? Provided I see it and it IS in good shape? I was looking around online and they seem to be 280 - 450 brand new. I figured for something so old, I was going to offer 50 bucks. But now it seems like older ones are going for around 250 as well. Input?  

$50 would likely be reasonable.  

I'd find out what year it really is. Trek did not offer the 7100 in 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998 or 1999.  

Good info. Are there manufacturing dates stamped on the frame? Any way to really tell what year it is?  

It's hardly worth sweating the details on. A 7100, regardless of vintage, (unless it's minty fresh and a year or three old), is just a used, cheap, entry level hybrid. I think $50 is a reasonable price particularly if it needs anything, like tires, brake pads, a chain, etc. Good condition older hybrids never seem to sell for more than $125 here at the shop, or any garage sales I've been to.

There is a 7100 for sale at a pawn shop near me for $159. I was thinking of geting it since the reviews on Treks forum were great. But after reading MendonCycleSmith post stating that this is basically a cheap hybrid, I decided to get a better updated hybrid Trek bike. Any suggestions on a nice Trek bike for part city, part trail riding? And what size should I get? I'm 6'2" and 210 lbs. 33" inseam. Thanks for the help. Jimbo007  

Well, I think if you're looking for a hybrid, they tend not to be too exciting so if that bike rides nice, it really doesn't matter if it's low end. Maybe give it a shot if that's what you're looking for. If you are sold on a Trek, your best bet for a proper fitting is to go to a Trek dealer.

Hey MABman, It's not 'hybrd bikes' we're talking about here but Trek Dual Sport DS 8.2, 8.3, 8.4, 8.5 to be exact. These are a cut above the competition and so are worth paying atention to. I bought the 8.2 today and put 28 miles on it. Real nice machine to ride on street and hard pack trail. This bike is effortless to ride long distances without any of the back fatigue that I got from a mountain bike with slick tires riding on street. A serious machine I do say. I myself am surprised. MOSCOW ZERO (2006)

Són les 6:30 de la matinada. Tinc dues hores justes per veure una peli. Després em vindran les obligacions de pare i s’acabarà el bròquil… Davant meu, al meu santuari, hi ha centenars de pelis vhs, dvd i algun beta i blu ray més o menys descampats per les estanteries i pel terra. Començo a pensar quina peli puc veure… una del oeste.. una de tiros, una de dibujos,… mentre la minuta del rellotge segueix el seu inexorable curs… cagant dubtes, m’estic menjant el meu temps que tant sacrifi em suposa aconseguir a base de mortals matinades!… L’alternativa està en “Moscow Zero”, amagada entre una muntanyeta de pelis, pels seus 78’ de metratge.

Gallo i Miller

Val Kilmer és una altra història. Lògicament, tot i aparèixer relativament poc, surt a la caràtula en lletres grans com si fós protagonista. Aquests actors del Hollywood més mainstream es mengen la càmera amb una sol gest. Són actors carismàtics que ens embelesen com si fossin encantadors de serps. Mel Gibson, Bruce Willis, Jack Nicholson, Tom Cruise i els incomprensiblement menys divos Michael Madsen o Jeffrey Combs (la meva debilitat) deuen tenir més aviat un do abans que formació. I el mateix passa amb Val Kilmer, que destaca tot i el seu paper d’aquells que es ventila en pocs dies de rodatge (és la fòrmula de fitxar superestrelles a costos assumibles, com ja fèia en tiet Jess amb Klaus Kinski a «Justine»).

Aparicions fantasmals de nens en els pasadissos amb Paloma Terriente com a líder d’aquest grupet que, sorprenentment, agrada més quan xiuxigeja amb tota naturalitat que per les seves corredisses que arriben a cansar (hi ha un “in crescendo” d’imatges de nens que corren pels pasadissos dels túnels que ens apropa cap a un clímax ben plantejat però que no fan sentir massa amenaça a l’espectador i es converteixen monòtons).

Paloma Terriente donant una mica de canguelo

Luna, a través de deformacions de la imatge, filtres monocròmatics i clarobscurs, ens convida d’una manera solvent a viatjar en un món subterrani que es va tornant cada vegada més asfixiant a mesura que els personatges van penetrant en ell, mentre es va desenvolupant una trama de tints arqueològics i demoníacs. Tant l’espectador com els personatges lluiten per no quedar-se a la cada vegada més present obscuritat i van sentit una certa claustrofòbia a mesura que els passadissos es van fent més estrets.

Per una vegada, i que serveixi de precedent, una imatge de la dire per lo guapatona que surt.

Tinc la sensació que la peli, sense ser una meravella, va quedar eclipsada per altres produccions que també van mamar de les vaques grosses, i que es troba al nivell qualitatiu de “El Orfanato” (per exemple), al menys pel que fa a les interpretacions i a les tasques de producció. Una altra cosa és el senzill guió, que sembla estar únicament al servei d’un inframón que dóna molt de joc pels seus fantasmes, els seus habitants, les seves portes misterioses i els seus racons arcans i que queden retratats amb una sugerent dosi d’efectes d’imatge, però que no arriben a causar mai les angoixes i pors que normalment s’exigeix a pelis d’aquest gènere. 6/10

És d’aquelles pel.lícules que un no recorda si ha vist o no, d’aquí, que un agreixi la base de dades de Film Affinitty, que unes de les seves funcions es saber, o recordar, si has vist una peli; jo creia que l’havia vist, però no. Em fascina la nota que té 2’4/10 de 1033 vots, cosa normal, ja que FA té la característica principal de maltractar el génere de terror/fantàstic, éssent tot el cinema clàssic el pol oposat, on tota peli parteix d’un mínim de 5. Un no només ha de ser exigent amb el génere de terror. Fa uns dies vaig veure el western d’en Fritz Lang «Encubridora», em poso les mans al cap, ja que per mi, és un mediocre western, que en aspectes técnics cumpleix bé (només faltaria el dire és en Lang), però és que la historia i el seu esdevenir impregant d’un aire masclista potent, em suposa un interes 0, jo li posso un 4’5-5/10 perquè d’en fritz lang un ha d’exigir més, cony que és l’autor de «Metropolis» i «M»!!!! la comunitat de FA li casca un sobrevalorat 7’5, i lleigint cosas com «el mejor western de la historia» o «lo mejor de Lang».

En resum, gràcies al contrapunt entre la nota de FA i la de Mr Flores, em motiva per veure-la, la poso en llista d’espera.

Intent de deborador de cinema amb moltes obligacions… Realment, no vaig fer massa cas de la puntuació dels de film affinity. Com ja vaig dir en una altra ocasió, Primer valoro i després m’informo.
