Manowar Announce ‘The Final Battle’ Farewell Tour

It continues to be an unbelievably brutal year for rock and metal as the defenders of true steel, Manowar , have announced they will be bowing out of the metal arena. The power metal heroes broke the news today that they will be embarking on their farewell tour, "The Final Battle."

The news came from the band's  Facebook page where they thanked their fans for 'The Gods and Kings' tour, one of the most successful in the band's 35 plus year career. Armed with 10 studio albums lined with heavy metal anthems, the New York outfit will begin their trek in Germany as stated in the full announcement below.

Message To All Manowarriors - Nachricht an alle Manowarrior The Gods And Kings Tour was a groundbreaking moment in our career. The stage, sound, video and you, our fans, were magnificent! Coming off such an amazing tour it was clear that the next time we must go even bigger and beyond anything we have ever done; something that will fulfill every Manowarrior’s dreams. Then that will be the ultimate moment to say Thank You and farewell! The Final Battle will begin in Germany and take us all over the world to say goodbye to all of you. If you know Metal you know MANOWAR. If you know MANOWAR you know Metal! Those who join this tour will be left with an eternal memory; having witnessed the band that has dedicated their blood, hearts, souls and every moment of their career to True Heavy Metal. We are calling all Manowarriors to prepare yourselves now and to join us for The Final Battle!” MANOWAR ‪#‎TheFinalBattle‬

Manowar might not be a household name, but the warriors have built up one of the most dedicated worldwide followings of any metal act. A Manowar concert is more than just a show and more than just a band getting up onstage; it is a true experience that has to be seen to be believed as fans raise clutched fists feverishly in the air, belting out every line of every song to the point where singer Eric Adams can take each night off and extend the mic out to the crowd instead.

The news comes while metal and rock fans around the world are still reeling from the losses of some of the genre's most beloved acts. The death of Lemmy Kilmister brought the end of Motorhead , Black Sabbath are currently in the midst of a farewell tour with Ozzy Osbourne expected to retire in the near future altogether, Brian Johnson remains on the outs in AC/DC as of now, two transcendental mega-stars were lost in David Bowie and Prince and now we will bid farewell to Manowar, a band willingly saying goodbye.

MANOWAR Announces First U.S. Concert In A Decade

MANOWAR has announced an exclusive U.S. concert for November 30, 2024 at Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, New York. It will mark the band's first live appearance in MANOWAR 's home country in a decade.

Earlier today (Saturday, December 16), MANOWAR shared a video message from bassist/leader Joey DeMaio in which he said: "This is Joey DeMaio from MANOWAR and I have just returned from signing the contract that will bring MANOWAR back to America. November 30th next year, MANOWAR will take the Kings Theatre in Brooklyn apart, taking the roof off the place. So watch social media and pay attention as tickets go on sale this coming Wednesday. We'll see you there."

MANOWAR 's last U.S. shows are believed to have taken place in February 2014 when the band celebrated the 25th anniversary of its "Kings Of Metal" album on the "Kings Of Metal MMXIV" tour.

Back in September 2014, MANOWAR canceled its previously announced U.S. tour dates which were scheduled to take place in November of that year. At the time, the band claimed it was scrapping the shows "due to scheduling conflicts" as well as to concentrate on work on a new studio album.

The 69-year-old DeMaio and 71-year-old singer Eric Adams are the sole remaining original members of MANOWAR , which formed in 1980 in upstate New York.

Two months ago, MANOWAR announced "The Blood Of Our Enemies" 2025 tour of Europe. The trek will be the band's first in support of MANOWAR 's next studio album, which will arrive in early 2025.

This past February, MANOWAR released a new song called "Laut Und Hart Stark Und Schnell" dedicated to the band's loyal German fans.

"Laut Und Hart Stark Und Schnell" , which translates into "Loud And Hard Strong And Fast" , is an anthemic mid-tempo hymn in the vein of MANOWAR 's classic "Warriors Of The World United" that invites fans to sing along and raise their hands in celebration of their favorite genre and band.

"Laut Und Hart Stark Und Schnell" was first released digitally on February 10 on all major platforms and was made available during MANOWAR 's German tour.

More than a year ago, MANOWAR announced that it had recruited Michael Angelo Batio , a veteran both in the studio and on stage, to play guitar for the band on its 2023 "Crushing The Enemies Of Metal" tour. The news came in the wake of guitarist Evandro "EV" Martel 's announcement that he was taking a break from touring for a while for "personal reasons".

Although MANOWAR has released a couple of EPs in recent years — including "The Revenge Of Odysseus (Highlights)" , which came out in June — the group hasn't issued a full-length effort since 2012's "The Lord Of Steel" .

MANOWAR 's two "secret" warm-up shows in June 2022 at Jovel Music Hall in Münster, Germany marked the band's debut live appearances with new drummer Dave Chedrick , who has previously played with RAVEN and KILL RITUAL , among others.

Chedrick joined MANOWAR as the replacement for Anders Johannson who announced that same month that he would be unable to join MANOWAR on the band's "Crushing The Enemies Of Metal Anniversary Tour '22/'23" due to "family commitments."

The almighty  Manowar  are finally coming home. The fantasy-metal pioneers have announced their first show on U.S. soil in a long 10 years, which is slated to go down in November 2024 at Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, NY.

The big gig will celebrate 40 years of Manowar's cult-adored 1984 LP, Sign of the Hammer , and it's also being billed as the band's only U.S. show for all of 2024.

"This is Joey DeMaio from Manowar and I have just returned from signing the contract that will bring Manowar back to America," the band's bassist said in a video statement.

Manowar Announce First US Show in 10 Years

The New York metal legends will play the Kings Theatre in Brooklyn on November 30th

Manowar Announce First US Show in 10 Years

Manowar have announced their first US concert in 10 years.

Fittingly, the “Kings of Metal” will play the Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, New York, on November 30th. The show commemorates the 40th anniversary of Manowar’s 1984 album Sign of the Hammer and will feature “a crushing setlist powered with immortal hymns” from throughout the band’s career.

“This will be the biggest production we’ve ever done in the US!” declared bassist Joey De Maio via the band’s official website . “Our fans here will finally get the power and might that has made Manowar the headlining attraction the world over!”

Tickets go on sale Wednesday (December 20th) at 10 a.m. ET via the Kings Theatre’s website . Fans can also look for deals or get tickets in case of a sellout via StubHub , where your purchase is 100% guaranteed through StubHub’s Fan Protect program.

In the meantime, Manowar are currently in the studio tracking The Sign of the Hammer 2024 — a re-recording of the aforementioned 1984 album. The New York metal vets are also working on a new studio album — their first since 2012’s The Lord of Steel — that’s tentatively scheduled for an early 2025 release.

Legendary American metal act, Manowar, have been raising hell since 1980, known for their outlandish antics and their gargantuan sound with lyrics full of mythological references.

Manowar began life in Auburn, New York, US, brought together by bassist Joey DeMaio formed a band with fellow musicians in the area, with the three original members DeMaio, Eric Adams (vocals), Donnie Hamzik (drums), joined by guitarist Karl Logan as of 1994, to form the quartet. From the strength of their first demo, they secured a recording contract in 1981 with Liberty Records, which began their rise to cult metal stardom, releasing their debut album, “Battle Hymns,” the following year.

Manowar have gone on to release 13 albums, each pushing their powerful, heavy sound to grander levels than what came before. Whilst never obtaining mainstream commercial success, their music has developed a strong cult following across the world. Whilst being popular in the US, they made their biggest impact in Europe, as well as being popular in the Australian and South American metal scene. Their use of mythological themes and Viking-inspired leather outfits made them the precursor band to the rise of Viking-metal and pagan-metal acts, such as bands like Finntroll, Gwar and Amon Amarth.

Highlights of their large discography include the 1988 album, “Kings of Metal ,” which is their highest-selling album worldwide, with many songs featured being fan favorties, played to uproarious receptions when performed live. 1992’s “Triumph of Steel” was another career high point, famous for its inclusion of a 28-minute suite titled “Achilles, Agony and Ecstasy in Eight Parts,” which was inspired by the Iliad.

Manowar are able to lay claim to the title of the ‘loudest metal band’ breaking this record on two separate occasions having being awarded it by the Guinness Book World of Records in 1984. As well as being the heaviest band, they also have the record for playing the longest heavy metal concert, when they played for five hours straight at a concert in Bulgaria in 2008.

Live-Bewertungen

Other band’s play, Manorwar KILLS. To some, Manowar’s claim to fame might be that they are the “loudest live band in history” but to true metal warriors Manowar are the kings of metal.

There is no better description for the community at a Manowar show than their very own song “Die For Metal” which details the day of a man quitting his job, going to his first Manowar show and instantly becoming a brother of metal. Lead singer Eric Adams commands a crowd like no other metal frontman can. Manowar tends to play lengthy shows and Adams has the entire audience eating out of the palm of his hands the entire time. To think, he’s been doing this for nearly 35 years and is still going strong! In a word, Manowar’s live performance is simply epic.

There is no better show to see live than a Manowar show for pure fun. The loudest band in the world, the most metal band in the world with thousands of metal warriors singing at the top of their lungs songs about the steel, mythology and the genre we all love so much.

“They can’t stop us, let ‘em try, for heavy metal WE WILL DIE.”

Manowar are one of the most revered artists on the underground metal scene. The Auburn, New York outfit have been working the scene since the early 80s and the large amount of experience they hold is very visible onstage. It is without a doubt an atmosphere of complete mayhem within the venue and the band plays in a total frantic manner yet you have to notice that they do not drop a single note all evening long.

The audience is pumped up and ready to throw themselves into the show with equal intensity. In their homeland they still sit very much within the cult category so therefore everybody attending tonight is what you would describe as a super fan. This is evident when you hear the volumes the choruses are sang back all night whilst the group are left to focus on the epic instrumentals. There is a strange notion to music that could fill stadiums being confined to intimate venues yet this simply elevates the intensity of a Manowar show.

It was great to see they guys again, but I've seen better shows with them. Eric was on point and still has a phenomenal voice, but Joey off key; especially through his attempt to master "Flight of the bumblebee". I liked Karl Logan's replacement, Mr. Martel, and the newish Swedish drummer were an worthy attribute.

jon-lykke’s profile image

I am very disappointed.

- Concert duration just about 1.5 hours

- Band performance (show) average (sound was good though)

- Price for tickets and merchandise abysmal

And worst of all. My critical comment on Facebook was removed instead of responding to it.

NEVER AGAIN !!!

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band Get Loose in Los Angeles

  • By Ethan Millman

Ethan Millman

Three hours into Bruce Springsteen ‘s epic return to Los Angeles on Thursday night with the E Street Band, he stared down the sold-out crowd at the Forum. “Do you have anything left?” he shouted, midway through “Twist and Shout,” the second-to-last song of his first L.A. show in eight years. Five decades in, the magic of a Springsteen show remains: He always seems to have a little bit left in the tank.

The 2024 version of the tour has been looser than last year’s, which stuck fairly close to a single set list, and Thursday was no exception. Springsteen kicked off with a true rarity, a cover of John Lee Hooker’s “Boom Boom” (most frequently played on the Tunnel of Love Express Tour back in 1988), before jumping into “Lonesome Day” (rarely played last year, but now a staple in the set) and “Prove It All Night,” then his live -favorite arena-rock reworking of Jimmy Cliff’s “Trapped.”

Editor’s picks

The 250 greatest guitarists of all time, the 500 greatest albums of all time, the 50 worst decisions in movie history, every awful thing trump has promised to do in a second term.

Six dates into their return to the road, Springsteen and the E Street Band sounded like they had never been interrupted. “Are you having fun yet? Because we haven’t had fun yet,” Springsteen told the crowd just over an hour into his show. “This is our pre-fun. We’re here to wake you up, shake you up, and take you to higher ground. The E Street Band is here to bring the joyous power of rock & roll into your life. But we need your help. We plan on sending you home with your feet hurting, your hands hurting, your ass in paralysis, and your sexual organs stimulated.”

Springsteen maintains a remarkably simple setup and show presentation compared to the other blockbuster live shows currently on the road. The visuals are limited to video screens and elegant stage lights, keeping the focus on the 17 musicians onstage with him. He doesn’t really need much else.

Bruce Springsteen Jokes About His Postponed Tour on 'Curb Your Enthusiasm'

From there, the show was all joy and catharsis, with an unbroken string of hits and live favorites, beginning with Nils Lofgren’s jaw-dropping guitar virtuosity on “Because the Night,” and inevitably reaching “Thunder Road” and “Born to Run.” As he has throughout the tour, Springsteen finished the show alone with his meditation on life after death, “I’ll See You in My Dreams.”

Springsteen and the E Street Band will play another Forum show on Sunday.

What will it take to win Masters 2024? One statistic explains why Scottie Scheffler tops the field

Who else can compete with scheffler, who remains the hottest golfer on the pga tour.

The Masters - Round Two

How does one go about winning the Masters? It's a question that occupies the space in many minds, professional golfers most of all. Thankfully, for those of us not playing in the actual tournament, there's a fairly objective and straightforward answer: You hit wonderful approach shots for 72 straight holes.

We can talk about the importance of putting and how one needs to have good hands around those greens, or about how relatively easy it is to play out of the first cut at Augusta National so longer, wilder drivers can find success.

But here's the cold reality for all the non-flushers out there: Seven of the last nine Masters winners have been in the  top six for the week in approach play . You have to hit the hell out of it, and you have to be disciplined about how you do it. Sometimes, that means green lights right at those lovely yellow flags. Sometimes, it might mean playing so far away from the hole that it looks like you're aiming off the green.

Regardless, to stay disciplined for 72 consecutive holes at Augusta with your irons is an extremely difficult task.

Though behind-the-scenes numbers show that Jordan Spieth has largely been the best iron player at that golf course over the last 10 or so years, there has only been official tracking of individual strokes gained categories for the last three years at Augusta National.

Watch all four rounds of the 2024 Masters starting Thursday with  Masters Live  as we follow the best golfers in the world through Augusta National with  Featured Groups , check in at the famed  Amen Corner  and see leaders round the turn on  holes 15 & 16 . Watch live on  CBSSports.com , the  CBS Sports App  and  Paramount+ .

Here are those official numbers on approach play, according to Data Golf, for the last three years (minimum eight rounds played).

Your leader? Well, there is no surprise.

There are some fascinating names on that list. Matsuyama and Schauffele have been two of the better players on the PGA Tour so far this year. Matsuyama won the Genesis Invitational in February, and both threatened to win the Players Championship in March.

Others have struggled. Morikawa missed two early cuts and does not have a top 10 anywhere since The Sentry in January. Corey Conners has been hitting it pretty good, but going into the Houston Open, he had one fewer top 10 than Morikawa does so far this year.

There are some unknowns. Cameron Smith has been mostly good on LIV Golf; Sergio Garcia has been up and down. Are either sharp enough to win a second major championships?

Speaking of LIV, it has thrown a huge wrench into how this data is accumulated and evaluated. Though overall strokes gained can be found without lasers and technology -- because it's just your score relative to those from everyone else -- specific categorical strokes gained data requires that technology. LIV apparently has it but is choosing not making the numbers public yet. So, though I believe Joaquin Niemann and Jon Rahm should probably be on the current list of best approach play golfers in 2024, they aren't because we just don't have the numbers.

Here's that list (going into the Houston Open). It only includes players who are in the Masters and have at least 10 measured rounds.

2024 worldwide SG approach

Ah, Scheffler. If you blindly look at both this year's statistics and recent history at Augusta, he is the obvious choice to win this tournament by, like, 15 shots. It's a true "Scottie or the field" situation. Just look at his rankings.

  • SG approach at Augusta (last three years): 1st
  • SG tee to green at Augusta (last three years): 1st
  • Total SG at Augusta (last three years): 2nd (Will Zalatoris is 1st)
  • SG approach worldwide since Jan. 1: 1st
  • SG tee to green worldwide since Jan. 1: 1st

Outrageous stuff. How does one not pick him to win this event?

The reality is that Scheffler is unlikely to win. Even amid his recent hot streak since the beginning of 2022, he has only won around 20% of the time. An outrageous number for golf, but still one that means 80% of the time somebody else has held the trophy.

And if the best player this year (and of the last several years) is not the guy wearing green on Sunday at the Masters, the rest of the players on these two lists should be considered extremely good candidates to do so.

Davis Love III enthused about golf's young stars

Will Beyoncé announce the Cowboy Carter' tour? Fans think she may be hitting the road again soon.

  • Beyoncé released her new album "Cowboy Carter" on Friday.
  • Some fans think she's gearing up to tour again, though many say they don't have the funds to attend.
  • The Renaissance World Tour wrapped last October in Kansas City. It was hailed as a must-see event.

Insider Today

Less than a year after the Renaissance World Tour wrapped, it might already be time for the Beyhive to dust off their boots and head back out to see Beyoncé live again.

The Renaissance World Tour was hailed as a once-in-a-lifetime event , a bona fide status symbol , and a blockbuster concert movie that awed audiences while near-singlehandedly boosting AMC's revenue . The 56-show run wrapped on October 1, 2023, in Kansas City.

On its heels, Beyoncé has released her new album " Cowboy Carter ." The triumphant country-inspired project is billed as "Act II" in a three-part "Renaissance" series.

So it would stand to reason — financially and thematically — that Beyoncé would plan another tour leg for "Cowboy Carter."

Her team seemed to hint that something is coming by launching a new website, " Been Country ." The landing page shows a photo of young Beyoncé performing at the Texas Sweetheart Pageant, as well as a childhood photo of her mother, Tina Knowles-Lawson , and an image of a banjo.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Slayonce Avenue (@slayonce_avenue2)

A fan account on Instagram shared a rumor that the tour announcement is scheduled for Friday, exactly one week after the album's arrival. Knowles-Lawson liked the post, adding more fuel to the rumor's flame.

Beyoncé's longtime collaborator The-Dream, who produced 10 of the new album's 27 tracks, also alluded to a forthcoming tour. He celebrated the release of "Cowboy Carter" on X, writing, "This tour bout to B' Incredible!"

Fans grabbed screenshots of The-Dream's post, though it has since been deleted.

However, the six-month turnaround since Beyoncé's last concert does cast suspicion on these theories. Thanks to "Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé," we know the Renaissance World Tour took four years to ideate and execute.

It's unclear if plans for a "Cowboy Carter" show were also in the works during that time, but if not, fans may have to wait a bit longer to watch Beyoncé perform. As she's already made clear, " A queen moves at her own pace ."

Even so, a delay may come as welcome news, even for dedicated members of the Beyhive.

Many fans have been posting about their lack of ticket funds on X, playfully begging Beyoncé to put off touring until next year.

Representatives for Beyoncé did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Business Insider.
