I had less experience than my husband and the guide was so kind to take my oldest daughter with him. It’s good that they ask to have experience because there’s a lot of traffic in Bologna and the hills are steep and the roads narrow. Our guide Arrigo showed us the hills around Bologna and Saint Luca. It was a perfect afternoon for us and our teenage daughters (it was their first experience on a vespa). It’s not true that they want to pay all in advance. Our prepayment (30%) wouldn’t work and that was no problem. We paid at the shop just before the tour. Read all the contract details, as this company has the policy of first book then ask questions Although you might be tented to ask for their services as they have really good reviews, double check all the details and mostly the negative reviews, as when things go wrong then truly a company shows their face. The most tricky part from their side is the policy that every booking is confirmed only after payment and they have a 100% no reimbursement for cancelation. So for example if you start to ask many questions they will start to loose interest in you. I almost booked a scooter, but I did not send the card details as I saw that there strategy was to quickly do the payment. To find out later that the scooters were drivable only in the city. If I would have payed and wanted to go out of the city...you can guess what would have happened. And no-were in the email was such a thing mentioned Read their response for the negative reviews first and you will see their attitude towards the customers. NEVER was their fault. Now on the other side, I thought I'd come back and report my experience. Bottom line -- my girlfriend and I both had a really enjoyable time. We met our guide, Francesco, at the Travelhoo office, and then walked to a nearby garage to pick up our Vespas. The Vespas were in good condition and super fun to drive around. We went through Bologna, finding our way to the outskirts and then into the surrounding hills. It was a really nice way to get out of the city and experience 'the Italian countryside', passing by interesting houses, farms, horses, chapels, etc. The roads weren't busy and fun to drive on, especially as we got higher up into the hills. The inclines required care and attention but in an enjoyable way. Francesco was an excellent guide, on and off the Vespa. He was easy to follow, giving us clear directions and preparing us in advance of turns, hills, stops, etc. We stopped at an old hospital with an attached church, a small chapel with interesting artifacts, a mountainside WWII memorial, and San Luca church. Francesco was able to answer all of my questions and offer us interesting information while visiting all of the sites. But the fact that they are fun and super friendly really does put a cherry on top of the memories you make on your trip. We borrowed some of their Vespa's for a daytrip tp Modena, and they gave us pointers, directions, maps and even a cell phone holder to strap on to your arm (this totally saved us). Detailed description.

Leaving from piazza del Baraccano in a fiat 500, you will go to the famous hills around Bologna. You will reach the highest panoramic viewpoint, where you can take lots of pictures, and then we will tour around the hills. Then you will go to have a typical Italian breakfast and reach the Basilica di San Luca. On your way back to piazza Del Baraccano you will see the Ville Neoclassiche and drive along the famous Colonnade in Bologna.
