Genre-bending Auckland artist Arthur Ahbez is taking his folk-laden rock and roll on tour across Aotearoa with The Reckless Tour.

Spreading out his musical tendrils like the new plague, Arthur Ahbez along with his rag tag group of quasi notorious band members head out in November to assail your ears with more aural pleasure than possibly known. Join them as they smash out a mix of new electric material and solo favourites in anticipation of Arthur’s forthcoming album Arthur Ahbez & The Flaming Ahbez , due 2023.

Arthur Ahbez & The Flaming Ahbez sees a departure from DIY recording, delivering a more polished sound in this studio album recorded with his band The Flaming Ahbez. This highly anticipated album is near completion, with the first feature single “Reckless” slated for release November 2022.

In 2013, Arthur released his debut self-recorded and self-produced album Gold . A cosy mix of soft firelight folk and psychedelia, Gold quickly gained a tight-knit following of fans from all over the world. Singles "Walk On" and "The Fundamentals" rocketed their way up local radio charts and were soon after licensed for American television.

2017 saw the release of his second self-recorded effort, Volume II . Part concept album and part follow-up to Gold, Volume II's songs exhibited Arthur's growth as a songwriter and his increasing mastery of a unique lo-fi sonic vision. Side A's "Painters Portrait" explored his British folk influences, while Side B reveled in his love of 60s rock and roll.

Vacillating between playful tongue-in-cheek remarks and universal truths, Arthur's songs are grown from the soil of his personal philosophy. Love, existential angst, joy and trepidation interact behind a canvas of reverb and piercing electric guitar.

Fresh off a one year sabbatical, Arthur Ahbez makes his return to society in the blistering heat of January for a summer tour! Ahbez took leave of NZ mid 2019 to explore the primeval lands of Eastern Europe and pursue new creative dimensions. Bathing in this rich cultural stew and exploring new realms of focus, Ahbez made new tracks in his development as a musician and songwriter, and now eagerly awaits to share the fruits of his labor.

Reluctantly leaving his short lived new life in Prague, Ahbez safely returned to the antipodes at the beginning of 2020 with a dozen distinctly original new songs. His departure from DIY recording will see the release of a studio album recorded with his band The Flaming Ahbez sometime in 2021, while reconnecting with his fan-base in the summer tour and debuting new material.

"Arthur der Große": Mark Wahlberg mit Hund auf Abenteuer-Tour

"Arthur der Große" ist kein rührseliger Hunde-Kitsch, sondern entpuppt sich als sehenswertes Film-Abenteuer. Darin spielt neben Action-Star Mark Wahlberg ein dahergelaufener Streuner die Hauptrolle.

Zu den exotischen Sportarten, die vielleicht noch nicht jeder kennt, gehört das "Adventure Racing". Ein buchstäblich abenteuerliches Rennen durch den Dschungel. Zehn Tage, 700 Kilometer - laufend, kletternd, mit Mountain Bike und Kajak. Man muss dazu ziemlich trainiert sein und leidensbereit - wie Michael Light, gespielt von Mark Wahlberg. Der Extremsportler ist ein Gewinner-Typ, der bisher nur leider immer als Loser endete. Als 2018 die Weltmeisterschaft in der Dominikanischen Republik ansteht, will er es noch einmal versuchen.

Weil Anreise und Training teuer sind und Sponsoren schwer zu finden, kratzt Michael all seine Ersparnisse zusammen, überredet seine alten Mitstreiter Leo und Chik und die junge Athletin Olivia, mit ihm ein Team zu bilden. Und los geht’s in die Dom Rep, wo ein irrer Dschungel-Trip auf die Vier und aufs Kino-Publikum wartet.

Kein Hunde-Kuschel-Kino

Es gilt, den cleversten und schnellsten Weg durchs Unterholz zu finden. Steil aufragende Felsen und klaffende Schluchten sind dabei keine Hindernisse, die nicht zu überwinden wären - mit Abenteuergeist und einer gespannten Zip-Line.

Es ist ein irrer Drahtseilakt, den die Vier schon auf Etappe eins hinlegen. Spätestens jetzt ist klar, dass man hier kein Hunde-Kuschel-Kino gebucht hat, sondern nervenaufreibende Action - in der nun endlich auch der Held auf vier Pfoten ins Spiel kommt. Michael hat dem verlausten und zerbissenen Streuner auf dem Pausenplatz aus Mitleid ein Fleischbällchen abgegeben. Nun stellt sich heraus, dass der Hund ihm gefolgt ist. Und da er sich ohnehin nicht mehr abschütteln lässt, wird er zum Chef-Navigator - und bald auch zum Lebensretter. Der Hund wird endgültig die Nummer fünf im Team, und bekommt einen Namen: Arthur, nach dem König der Tafelrunde.

"Arthur der Große": Mitreißendes Film-Abenteuer

Hinter dem Film steckt eine wahre Geschichte. Der schwedische Extremsportler Mikael Lindnord hat ein Buch über seine Freundschaft mit Arthur geschrieben, der ihm tatsächlich bei einem Rennen zulief und beibrachte, was Teamgeist heißt. Eine lebensverändernde Begegnung, wie er Mark Wahlberg erzählte. "Er hat mir klar gesagt, dass sich sein Leben nur um die Rennen drehte und er besessen davon war, die Weltmeisterschaft zu gewinnen", erzählt der Schauspieler. "Man könnte vielleicht auch sagen, er war ein egoistischer Typ, bis er Arthur traf und für ihn selbstlose Dinge tat."

Wahlberg verkörpert die verbissene Seite des Mannes genauso überzeugend wie die menschliche. Er ist ohnehin perfekt für die Rolle, weil er die körperliche Fitness mitbringt - und ein Herz für Hunde. Drei "family dogs" springen bei ihm zu Hause herum und den Filmhund hätte er am liebsten auch gleich noch adoptiert. "Arthur der Große" ist kein rührseliger Hunde-Kitsch, sondern entpuppt sich als wirklich sehenswertes, mitreißendes Film-Abenteuer - Adrenalin-Kicks inbegriffen. Wie gut, dass man dafür nur ins Kino und nicht selbst ins Dschungel-Camp muss.

As those who have been tuning in for the current third season of Syfy and USA Network’s Chucky already well know, somehow Don Mancini and the rest of his creative team have managed to up the ante yet again. If you thought that after seven feature-length films and two full TV seasons the creativity had left the building, you’d be dead wrong, as the latest batch of episodes has been nothing short of bonkers - in the best way possible. Taking viewers along for the ride, a behind-the-scenes featurette featuring several of the leading cast members and even some crew members digs into the mischief and mayhem of the sixth episode of the third season. But first - a quick and spoiler-filled recap.

Last week, audiences watched as a dying Chucky (voiced by Brad Dourif ) made his way down to the White House’s situation room to unleash hell on Earth - although he only managed to fully unleash his wrath on the North Pole. While Lexy (Alyvia Alyn Lind), Devon (Bjorgvin Arnarson), and Jake (Zackary Arthur) rushed to stop him, the newly introduced presidential body double, Randall ( Devon Sawa ) wondered how he got himself into this mess. Although Chucky is finally defeated during the episode’s last few minutes, his soul lives on, trapped inside the White House where we see Dourif in human form for the first time since the opening moments of the movie that started it all - 1988’s Child’s Play .

Devon Sawa Finds Himself In a Sticky Situation

Giving the grand tour of the situation room, Sawa takes a moment to share his personal joy of playing his fifth character in the course of three seasons . His latest role, Randall, is the body double of the president who was brutally killed by Chucky in an earlier episode. We recently caught up with Mancini and Sawa , both of whom said that the easygoing and unsuspecting Randall was one of their favorite personalities to enter the franchise so far.

Chiming in, Lynd says that filming that particular action-packed scene was an especially fun one as she got to spend time with a handful of actors whom she usually doesn’t have scenes with - Sawa included. We also meet crew members like Mauro Lacappara and the legendary Anthony Gardner , who truly bring the show to life with their prop and puppeteering expertise , and hear what it was like to shoot one of the most complicated scenes in the history of the franchise.
