“ I’ve got some good news.  We’re coming back to Brazil in November to play for you. We have such great memories from all our visits.  I love coming to Brazil because you guys like to rock, sing and party all at once. We’re really excited. Let's have fun. Let's rock. Let's roll. Let's stomp. Let's stroll. And Brazil, let's have a great time .” - Paul McCartney

Fulfilling his promise to return to the stage – to the delight of fans – Paul returns to Brazil in 2023 for shows in five cities – São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Brasília, Belo Horizonte and Curitiba. Bringing his phenomenal  GOT BACK Tour to the country for the first time.  The tour started in the United States in April 2022 and saw Paul perform a historic headline festival set at Glastonbury.

Paul has a strong relationship with Brazil – and a huge number of fans from the most diverse generations. In 2017, he was recognized as the best-selling international artist for performances in the country, with more than 1,5 million tickets sold.

But the great milestone of the eternal Beatle happened in 1990, when he performed in front of a crowded – and enchanted – Maracanã with 184,000 fans on the night of April 21, breaking at the time the world record for attendance at a concert. In 2023, McCartney will close the tour in December precisely by returning to “his sacred soil”, in the most iconic Brazilian soccer stadium. Magical place for sports lovers, like the artist.

Featuring Paul’s longtime band - Paul “Wix” Wickens (keyboards), Brian Ray (bass/guitar), Rusty Anderson (guitar) and Abe Laboriel Jr (drums) - and constantly upgraded state of the art audio and video technology that ensures an unforgettable experience from every seat in the house, a Paul McCartney concert is never anything short of life-changing.

Disney+ Brazil’s surprise Paul McCartney, ‘Got Back’ tour announcement

P aul McCartney will get to showcase his final “Got Back” tour show in front of a huge crowd. Disney+ will once again broadcast a legendary rocker’s concert.

Another Disney+ broadcast

Disney+ Brazil announced that McCartney’s final “Got Back” tour show on December 16 will be broadcast on the streaming service and Star+.

“We brought Paul McCartney’s farewell tour live for you,” the X post began. “Paul McCartney: Got Back, live from Maracanã, on December 165h, at 9:15 pm.”

What’s interesting is that Disney+ Brazil’s post dubbed this as McCartney’s farewell tour. That’s never been stated, but perhaps they know something the fans don’t. Either that or maybe it was just a mistake.

The “Got Back” tour, his first since the pandemic, began on April 28, 2022, with a show in Spokane, Washington. McCartney and his backing band played 15 more shows across North America before a headlining show at the Glastonbury Festival.

In 2023, McCartney and his band made the decision to go back on the road. They have played dates across Australia, Mexico, and Brazil. As the Disney+ announcement suggests, the final date will take place on December 16 in Rio de Janeiro.

Add Paul McCartney to the list of artists to have their concerts live-streamed on Disney+. Elton John’s final US concert on his “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour at the iconic Dodger Stadium was broadcast last year. U2 has also released a documentary with David Letterman through the streaming service.

The Beatles, McCartney’s former band, also had a Disney+ project come out. The Beatles: Get Back was released in 2021 and chronicled the Let It Be sessions. Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson helped clean up the old footage.

Paul McCartney to Hold Intimate Club Show Tonight to Kick Off ‘Got Back’ Tour

by Matt Friedlander November 28, 2023, 10:33 am

Paul McCartney will wind down his 2023 tour plans with a series of concerts in Brazil that gets underway this week. The trek was set to kick off this Thursday, November 30, at Arena BRB Mané Garrincha in the country’s capital, Brasilia. However, the Beatles legend has since announced that he will celebrate the start of the tour with an intimate club show in the city tonight, November 28 , at the Clube do Choro venue.

According to a post on McCartney’s social media pages , tickets to the show were “extremely limited,” and, not surprisingly, the event is already sold out.

Not including the club show, the Brazilian leg of McCartney’s 2023 Got Back Tour will feature a total of eight concerts. After the November 30 performance in Brasilia, the trek will stop in Belo Horizonte on December 3 and 4; Sao Paolo on December 7, 9, and 10; Curitiba on December 13; and Rio de Janeiro on December 16.

This marks the first time McCartney has performed in Brazil since his Freshen Up Tour visited the South American country in March 2019.

So far, the 2023 Got Back Tour has featured seven concerts in Australia, in October and early November, and a two-show stand in Mexico City on November 14 and 16.

McCartney recently posted a video recap of his Australian tour leg on his socials. The clip features a montage of footage from the various stops on the trek, and McCartney is heard reflecting on the outing at the beginning of the presentation.

“We had a great time, actually. We’ve loved it,” he says. “We had just enough rehearsal time to feel like we could play well. A lovely time. The audiences were really fantastic, and we love you, Australia!”

The clip also boasts snippets of McCartney and his band performing “Can’t Buy Me Love,” “Getting Better,” “Come On to Me,” “Jet,” “She Came In Through the Bathroom Window,” and “Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da.” There’s also a scene capturing McCartney and his bandmates having fun singing a bit of “Hey Jude” backstage.

BRASILIA, Brazil — Accustomed to filling stadiums with tens of thousands of screaming fans worldwide, Paul McCartney took to the stage of a small music venue in Brazil's capital on Tuesday night for a special performance with an intimate, ecstatic 300-person audience.

In a space comparable to the famous Cavern Club in Liverpool where the Beatles began their career, McCartney, 81, performed a 22-song set that included hits from the group and his solo career despite intense heat.

"It was like winning the lottery without having bought a ticket," said 33-year-old civil servant Amanda Cardoso of getting into the concert that was announced at the last minute.

"I'd already experienced moments I thought could never be beaten, but yesterday I was able to see my greatest musical icon just a meter away from me, interacting with me at various times in a place that was transformed into the Cavern Club for an hour and forty minutes," she said.

McCartney announced on social media on Tuesday morning that he would be playing later that same day at the Clube do Choro to celebrate the arrival of his "Got Back" tour in Brazil, stressing that tickets would be "extremely limited."

The option to buy tickets was only released to those who had already purchased seats for his performance scheduled for Thursday at the Mané Garrincha stadium. Tickets priced between $41 and $82, much lower than most of those for the tour, sold out in just a few minutes.

Fans who managed to buy tickets received wristbands for the concert. Upon arrival, event organizers sealed up fans' mobile phones and cameras to prevent images from being recorded. Anyone who did not comply would be removed from the venue by security.

McCartney's "Got Back" tour will pass through the cities of Brasilia, Belo Horizonte, Sao Paulo, Curitiba and Rio de Janeiro over the next two weeks.

Paul McCartney  is heading to Brazil. The two-time Rock & Roll Hall of Famer has just announced dates for a Brazilian leg of his Got Back tour, his first return to the country since 2019.

The trek kicks off November 30 in Brasília then hits Belo Horizonte, São Paulo and Curitiba, before wrapping December 16 in Rio De Janeiro.

“We have such great memories from all our visits. I love coming to Brazil because you guys like to rock, sing and party all at once,” McCartney says. “We’re really excited. Let’s have fun. Let’s rock. Let’s roll. Let’s stomp. Let’s stroll. And Brazil, let’s have a great time.”

A ticket presale kicks off Tuesday, August 8, at 10 a.m. local time, with a general onsale set for Thursday, August 10, at 12 p.m. local time.

And that’s not all. McCartney has added a new date to the Australian leg of his Got Back tour, which kicks off October 18 in Adelaide. He’s added a second date in Sydney and will now play Allianz Stadium October 27 and October 28. A ticket presale is happening Wednesday, August 9, followed by a general onsale on Thursday, August 10.

In April 2022, McCartney and his band kicked off the “Got Back” tour. It was his first tour after the pandemic and visited the United States last year. The first leg of the tour culminated with a headlining show at the Glastonbury Festival.

This year, McCartney hit the road and announced dates across Australia, Mexico, and Brazil. The first “Got Back” show in Brazil will take place on November 30 (not including the special one-off gig today). This leg of the “Got Back” tour will conclude on December 16.

Since the Beatles' split, Paul McCartney has continued his career. He has released dozens of albums since the Beatles broke up including solo outings, classical albums, and Wings. Since 1989 and after Wings split, McCartney has constantly been touring as a solo artist.

His current touring band, which includes Rusty Anderson, Brian Ray, Paul “Wix” Wickens, and Abe Laboriel Jr. They have toured with McCartney since 2002.

Used to filling stadiums with tens of thousands of screaming fans worldwide, Paul McCartney took to the stage of a small music venue in Brazil's capital on Tuesday night for a special performance with an intimate, ecstatic 300-person audience.

In a space comparable to the famous Cavern Club in Liverpool where the Beatles began their career , McCartney, 81, performed a 22-song set that included hits from the group and his solo career despite intense heat.

McCartney announced on social media on Tuesday morning that he would be playing later that same day at the Clube do Choro to celebrate the arrival of his "Got Back" tour in Brazil, stressing that tickets would be "extremely limited".

The option to buy tickets was only released to those who had already purchased seats for his performance scheduled for Thursday at the Mané Garrincha stadium. Tickets priced between 200 raies, or $41, and 400 raies, or $82, much lower than most of those for the tour, sold out in just a few minutes.

Fans who managed to buy tickets received wristbands for the concert. Upon arrival, event organizers sealed up fans' mobile phones and cameras to prevent images being recorded. Anyone who did not comply would be removed from the venue by security.

McCartney's "Got Back" tour will pass through the cities of Brasilia, Belo Horizonte, Sao Paulo, Curitiba and Rio de Janeiro over the next two weeks.
