Travel Talk Tours Review: The Exotic Morocco Tour

Last updated: March 15, 2023 . Written by Laurence Norah - 13 Comments

We’ve explored a number of countries in partnership with Travel Talk Tours , including Turkey, Morocco and Egypt .

You can read about our Jewels of the Nile tour in Egypt here , and our tour of Turkey with Travel Talk Tours here .

In Morocco we did the Exotic Morocco tour with Travel Talk Tours, and this tour is all about our experience on that trip.

By the end of the post, we hope you’ll have an idea if this is the sort of tour for you.

In case you’ve not heard of them, Travel Talk Tours do excellent value group tours in a number of countries around the world, and it seemed like a fun and easy way to meet new people, experience new countries, and find exciting things to take pictures of.

Desert camp by night Morocco Travel talk sahara

The first trip we ever did with Travel Talk Tours was this tour of Morocco , titled “Exotic Morocco”. This was billed as the best way to experience the highlights of the country, from the medinas of Fez and Marrakech, to the beach of Essaouira, through to camping under the stars and camel riding in the Sahara desert.

That’s a lot to take in, and a lot of ground to cover, with the desert and wilderness parts being what I was most looking forward to.

So what was our experience with Travel Talk Tours in Morocco? Read on for our full review of our Travel Talk Tours Exotic Morocco tour! You can also see more photos from this tour (if there aren’t enough in this post!) in this photo essay I did.

Our 10 Day Exotic Morocco Tour Itinerary with Travel Talk Tours

This post outlines our experiences and review of our Travel Talk Tours Morocco Tour.

This was a 10 day Morocco tour, covering many of the highlights of Morocco over the 10 day itinerary. If you wanted to travel for a shorter time, Travel Talk have a number of Morocco tours on their website here .

Day 1: Marrakech

I’d actually spent eight days in Marrakech prior to the tour starting, so had fairly comprehensively visited all the sights. This was a good thing, but the first day was really just about meeting the rest of the group and having an evening briefing.

Our guide let us know how to get into the old city from our hotel (about 3km away), but no formal activities were arranged. If you are interested in sight-seeing in Marrakech, this excellent post has you covered .

Day 2: Drive to Desert Camp in Zagora

The adventures on the bus begin! You’re going to notice there’s a lot of time spent on the bus. On our tour, this was a comfortable bus that could seat around 22 people, and as there were only 16 of us, most people got two seats.

That’s not standard of course, but it did make the trip fairly comfortable.

Travel Talk Bus Morocco

Our trip took us from Marrakech to Zagora, a journey that required crossing the Atlas mountain range, which divides the country.

These are a gorgeous mountain range, and the drive through them was filled with jaw dropping scenery.

Atlas mountains and road Morocco

The tour stopped a few times on the way for bathroom / drink / snack breaks, and we had a longer stop for lunch.

Lunch stops on the tour were always optional, in that you didn’t have to go to the recommended restaurants, but everyone did because it was generally the easiest (and sometimes only) option!

Sunset in desert Morcco with moon

Finally, after a full day of driving, we got as far as the bus could go, and walked the last section to the desert camp as the sun was setting. Here we had a full meal, music by firelight, and tented accommodation under the stars.

In this case, the accommodation was fairly basic, with four beds per tent, although everything was clean and well maintained. The food was excellent, and we had a really nice evening with everyone.

Day 3: Camel Trekking and 4×4 adventures

The day started early – I wanted to catch the sunrise – so I was out of bed by 6am. Conveniently, a whole pile of camels were collected just behind the tents, which made for some photogenic scenes as the sun rose over the sand dunes.

Camels and riders in desert Morocco 3

Then, after breakfast, it was time for a two hour ride on a camel in the desert!

Girl on camel Morocco

I’m not going to lie, riding a camel isn’t exactly a comfortable affair. For the first ten minutes it was tremendous fun. Then you realise that the seat isn’t so comfortable (you try putting a seat on a hump), and you’re going to be stuck up here for another hour and fifty minutes, and it becomes more of an endurance test. Ok, so I may be exaggerating a little. It was definitely an experience.

Jess actually decided to walk her camel rather than ride it and just walked along with the guides and helped direct the camels which was perhaps the smarter idea.

But I am quite happy to now have ticked off “camel-riding” from my things I’ve done list, and plan not do it again…

From the camel riding we hopped into a collection of 4×4’s. I was particularly excited to be in a Toyota Landcruiser, which took me back to my year’s Australian exploration . Having an actual padded seat was also a bonus after two hours on a camel.

Our first stop was a village which makes pottery, and we had a nice tour of the pottery making, followed by the option to buy some pottery.

This was a really nice experience, and there was no hard sell at all, just the opportunity to buy some pottery if you wanted. It was really nice pottery, so a lot of folks invested in tagines and tableware, which were at quite reasonable prices.

Pottery village Morocco

Then, on again, this time, into the edge of the Sahara proper – hence the 4×4’s! We had a brief stop for lunch, which involved a large picnic rug under some palm trees, and then drove into the desert. If you’ve never ridden a jeep in the desert, you’re in for a treat, this is a load of fun as these vehicles show off what they can do in the sand.

Sand dunes and village Sahara Morocco

We stopped by a huge dune from where we had a gorgeous view of the sunset, before heading to another desert camp under the stars.

Jess in the Sahara Morocco

I very much preferred this second desert camp. Surrounded by huge dunes and with a gorgeously clear sky, it was perfect for star gazing and a spot of astrophotography. Plus, music and drinks by the campfire, not to be sniffed at!

Stars in motion over Morocco

Day 4: Onwards to Tinghir

After another early start (you can’t miss the opportunity to shoot a sunrise in the Sahara!), we had another decent breakfast and it was onwards to Tinghir.

If you look at a map of Morocco, you’ll notice that Tinghir is about a five hour drive from Mhamid, which is the town on the edge of the desert, and we were an hour and a half’s drive inside the desert. So, you guessed it, another full day on the bus.

Again, the scenery was pretty epic, and there were plenty of stops for photos, bathroom breaks, snacks and so on, so this wasn’t a problem.

Landscape near Todgha gorge Morocco

The highlights of this day (other than that gorgeous sunrise), was the trip up into Todgha gorge, a fantastic canyon in the eastern part of the High Atlas mountains, with walls that tower up to 160m on either side.

It’s very popular with hikers, and a really worthwhile place to visit.

Todgha gorge Morocco

Then, we drove into Tinghir and spent the night in a hotel with lovely panoramic views over the city as the sun set.

Day 5: To Fez!

Our fifth day was another day of driving. Morocco is a fairly well spread out country, so a lot of transportation seems inevitable.

The good news is that we had two nights scheduled in Fez, which meant a whole day of exploration was to come. In the meantime, it was a full day on the bus, enjoying the scenery of the Atlas mountains, again with lots of short breaks.

Village oasis Morocco

The highlight of this trip had to be the stop for the monkeys. I mean, who doesn’t like monkeys? (Sorry if you don’t like monkeys).

We paused for at least a half hour in a lovely wooded area where we watched monkeys of all sizes playing in the trees, swinging from branches, and generally having a good old monkey time.

Swinging monkey Morocco

Then, it was into Fez, where we checked into a lovely hotel, and had the option of an evening entertainment performance (extra fee). This involved a short bus trip into the centre of the city, and an evening of dinner and entertainment. This included music, belly dancers, and a magic show.

It was also very interactive, with everyone ending up on stage at some point. The food was tasty, and everyone had a great deal of fun.

Stage show Fez Morocco

Day 6: A Day in Fez

Fez is home to the oldest university in the world, and the old medieval market, or medina that makes up the heart of the old town centre, has roots reaching back to the 9th century.

So it was no wonder that it’s a UNESCO listed site , or that our tour would have us spending a full day here.

Narrow alleyways of Fez medina Morocco

This involved a guided tour of the medina which lasted a few hours, with a local guide.

We were led through the maze that is the medina (I would have been totally lost within moments on my own!), who showed us all sorts of interesting stalls where the locals come to do their shopping, as well as some of the highlights of the medina including that ancient university.

Pot maker Fez Morocco

Then it was on to the world famous tanneries of Fez. Unfortunately, these are under serious renovation, after countless centuries they were a little the worse for wear. So we got to see a construction site, and a video of what they should have looked like.

Having visited tanneries before, I wasn’t totally sad about this, because they smell awful when in operation! Still, I was a bit sad to miss the photography opportunity.

Leather shop Fez Morocco Interior

Then we were given the opportunity to buy from a local tannery, as well as from a local weavers. Again, these were generally fairly soft-sell locations without too much pressure to buy, the quality and prices were reasonable, and certainly plenty of souvenirs were bought by folks on the tour! Then it was back to the hotel and dinner at our leisure.

Day 7: Rabat and Casablanca

From Fez, it was another long drive, this time to the coast, with our destination being the city of Casablanca – made famous by the movie of the same name, even though none of said movie was actually filmed anywhere near Africa!

On the way we stopped for a tour of Rabat, which is the capital of Morocco and another World Heritage Site. Here we were taken for a tour with a local expert guide. This included a visit to the Hassan Tower, construction of which commenced in 1195 but which was never finished.

Hassan Tower Rabat Morocco

Then, it was on to the Andalusian Gardens , the ruins of the Roman city of Chellah , before we finished our tour wandering around the gorgeously colourful Kasbah of the Udayas – filled with lovely blue and white walls, intriguing doorways and tiny alleyways.

I think it’s fair to say we would all have been happy to spend more time in Rabat.

Doorway in rabat Morocco

Time, unfortunately, wasn’t on our side, as we had to head on down the coast to Casablanca, another long drive away. We took the scenic coastal route, and I did enjoy seeing the rural coastline, and how different it was from the mountainous and desert regions.

Finally, as evening was hoving into view, we arrived into Casablanca. Casablanca isn’t really as romantic as the movie made out , being largely a commercial port city, but it does have a impressive mosque.

The Hassan II Mosque isn’t particularly old (1993), but it is the largest mosque in Morocco, the seventh largest mosque in the world, and it has the highest minaret in the world, at 210m. It’s also a convertible, in that the interior roof retracts to open the interior to the sky. It’s a rather impressive building, to say the least.

Exterior of Hassan II Mosque Casablanca Morocco

We had an optional tour (fee) scheduled of it for the following morning, but as the light was so lovely, we had a chance to explore and wander a little as the sun set, where I was able to capture some jolly nice images.

Then, it was back to the hotel, dinner, and bed.

Day 8: Casablanca and Essaouira

Casablanca started with a morning tour of the Hassan II Mosque. Like the majority of the activities we did, this was also optional, but most people chose to do it.

It was very much worth it as the building is hugely impressive, and as I’d never been in a mosque before, I was intrigued to learn how they worked.

Exterior of Hassan II Mosque Casablanca Morocco 5

The guided tour was very interesting, and if you’re in Casablanca or on this trip with Travel Talk, I very much recommend making the time to do this.

Interior Hassan II Mosque Casablanca Morocco

Then, we left Casablanca, and headed down the coast to Essaouira, another pile of driving away. We stopped for a delicious sea food lunch on the way, and arrived as night was falling.

Seafood Morocco

The hotel was about a 20 minute walk outside the city centre, but some of the group still took advantage of our guide’s offer of a walking tour, and spend some of the evening exploring the medina and old city. I have to admit that Jess and I were tired, so gave that one a miss, opting to explore it the following morning on our own.

Day 9: Essaouira and Marrakech

Our last full day of tour started off with a relaxing free morning, which was nice. We opted to spend it wandering into Essaouira, filming location of one of my favourite TV shows .

After a twenty minute walk along the beach we arrived at the city walls, and I have to say, I instantly fell in love with this 18th century walled city. It just seemed like the perfect place to come and while away a few weeks, wandering the alleys, city walls and beach, whilst sampling some delicious Moroccan cuisine.

Essaouira citadel

Of course, we didn’t have time to spend a few weeks – just a few hours. We packed them full though – with a highlight being the visit to the Citadel – well worth the minimal entry fee for the views.

Circular hole wall Essaouira Morocco

Then, it was time to head back to the hotel, check out, and hop into the bus for the last journey of the tour – back to Marrakech!

We stopped on the way for a tour of an Argan oil production facility. Argan is an oil from a tree endemic to Morocco, and naturally is said to have all kinds of exciting properties. We didn’t buy anything, but it was interesting to see how the oil was produced and to meet the people making it.

Argan oil production tour Morocco

Then, the last leg of the journey took us back to Marrakech, where we checked into the hotel.

There was the option of a trip into the city centre that evening which we didn’t take, as we’d already spend a couple of weeks in Marrakech , and had a few more nights scheduled there before our trip to Egypt.

Day 10: the End!

Whew! Still with me? Not much to say about the final day – after breakfast everyone said their goodbyes, exchanged contact details (well, facebook friend requests) and headed on their way.

Travel Talk includes airport transfers, so trundled everyone who was leaving back to the airport.

A good few people had booked a couple of extra nights in town, which I would recommend doing as otherwise you won’t see much of Marrakech. I’d also advise booking a guesthouse in the old medina part of town rather than where the Travel Talk hotel is located, as otherwise you’ll be journeying back and forth by taxi the 4km or so each way.

In terms of accommodation recommendations, we stayed at a centrally located basic Riad for three weeks, and there are plenty of options to choose from in Marrakech at all price points.

So that was the tour in detail. Let’s go over my thoughts on our experience and see if this is the right experience for you.

Travel Talk Tours review: What was good about our Exotic Morocco Tour?

Covered a lot – As you can see from what we did, our ten day itinerary really packed in a lot. We saw everything from deserts to mountains to beaches, cultural highlights and adventure activities. It was a fantastic way to easily experience a lot of Morocco in a relatively short period of time.

Camel and berber in desert Morocco

Great people – A tour like this can be made or broken by the people on it. In our case (and on both our tours with Travel Talk in fact), we had lovely people, many of whom have become friends – in fact one will be visiting us in Scotland soon!

We had a lot of laughs and a lot of fun together on our ten day adventure, and I got the impression that Travel Talk tours tend to be like this as a rule rather than an exception.

Girls enjoying Moroccon landscape

Easy way to see the country – It’s obviously entirely possible to do a trip like this on your own, plan it all out yourself, go at your own pace and so on.

For a first time visit to Morocco though, this could be a bit of an overwhelming amount of work, and the Travel Talk tour removes all the hassle.

You see all the highlights, hang out with great people, have a lot of fun, and don’t have to worry about anything other than making the bus in the morning. Too easy.

Breakfast desert camp Morocco

Decent accommodation at the price – One thing that really impressed everyone on the tour was the quality of our accommodation.

Aimed firmly at the backpacker market, the hotels we stayed in were a far cry from the hostels that many were used to.

Sure, you’re not going to be staying in the Ritz, but the hotels were all nice three and four star properties with good beds, high cleanliness standards, private bathrooms and so on.

No-one on the tour had anything bad to say about the accommodation.

Hotel Marrakech Travel talk tours

Friendly, knowledgeable guides – Our guide Mustafa was very friendly and certainly knew a lot about the history of the country.

On those long bus rides, he’d often get up and chat to us about where we were driving, what we were seeing, and the history of the country. I have to confess, Jess paid more attention to this than me, I was happy to just let the scenery wash into me.

Travel talk guide and salesman Morocco

Value – Everyone we spoke to on the tour was very impressed by the value that the trip offered – we saw a lot, and as mentioned above, the accommodation was of a good standard.

It is worth mentioning that the sticker price on the website is not the final price. Like most tour companies, not all meals or activities are included in the price you pay prior to joining the tour.

Travel Talk certainly don’t hide this – it’s really obvious on their website what is and what isn’t included in each tour. Generally, you need to budget in entrance prices, some meals, any optional activities, and tips on top of the advertised price.

Camels and riders in desert Morocco

Each tour on the Travel Talk website has guidance for how much you might need to budget for these – see here for the Exotic Morocco example .

Then, also consider drinking water, alcohol, snacks, and gifts to come to a final budget.

I think the trips are excellent value for money, just make sure you do your sums first to be sure they are right for you!

Exotic Morocco Travel Talk Tours review: What wasn’t so great?

There are always going to be a few things that aren’t always ideal, although whether or not these are deal breakers for you entirely depends on your perspective. Personally none of the things I’m listing here were really issues for me, but I’m bringing them up so you’re aware:

WiFi access – There’s no WiFi on the bus, and the majority of the hotels we stayed at only offered WiFi in the lobbies. Usually this was fast enough for social media and e-mail, but I wouldn’t suggest you’d be streaming movies or uploading video.

In some cases, we couldn’t get it to work at all.  I expect over time this situation will evolve, but for now, be prepared not to be in constant contact with the world. Not a terrible thing really.

Star gazing Morocco and camels

Long bus rides – As you’ll have noticed from the overview of what we did, we spent a lot of time on the bus. Like, a LOT of time. The bus was comfortable, and the driver and roads were both excellent, so it never felt dangerous, but it did go on for a while on some days.

The plus point to this is that we saw a lot of Moroccan scenery, which was absolutely stunning, particularly in the High Atlas and Desert sections of the tour.

There were also lots of stops for photos (and to buy water / use the loo), as well as loads of information from our guide about what we were seeing.

Town in the atlas mounaints morocco

If you’re happy to gaze out of a bus window for hours on end, you’ll not have a problem with this. Otherwise, consider loading up your device with movies, bring a well stocked Kindle, or prepare to become best buddies with everyone on board!

Free time – We didn’t have a great deal of free time scheduled in to our trip, unless you opted out of some of the activities.

We did have plenty of time on the bus of course, but exploring on our own was a bit limited.

My advice would be to add on a day or two in Marrakech at the start or end of the trip if you want to see more the city, as the tour spends a minimal amount of time in the city, and there’s more than enough to do in Marrakech to fill a couple of days of sight-seeing and shopping.

If you’re looking for more ideas on what to do in Marrakech, check out this post from Jess, highlighting 12 must do’s in Marrakech !

Who’s going to be on a Travel Talk tour like this?

Morocco, being a Muslim country (if fairly liberal) isn’t known as exactly a party destination.

Our group was made up of 16 people (Travel Talk Tours can be up to 30 in size), with lots more women than men – there were three guys travelling with their girlfriends, including me, and then the rest of the group were either solo female travellers or groups of girlfriends. Ages ranged from mid-twenties to early thirties.

Evening dinner camp Morocco

Nationalities wise, there was a heavy skew towards Australian, with Travel Talk tours generally popular amongst Australians and New Zealanders – our guide confirming that the gender split, age range and nationalities in our tour were pretty standard for their Morocco trips.

So just know that you will probably be on a tour with a group of 20-something Australian women.

Tips for travelling in Morocco

Morocco is a safe country to travel in. The main issues are health, in terms of keeping an eye on what you eat and drink, and the occasionally aggressive nature of some of the vendors.

In the latter case, this might be from street performers demanding you pay them an extortionate amount for the photo you snapped of them or someone who offers you a tour of the tanneries, followed up by some aggressive tactics to make you part with your cash.

My advice would be to have some change available to pay vendors if you do decide to take photos, and to stick to only organised tours with a pre-agreed price for the activities.

Camels and herder in desert Morocco

You’ll be largely insulated from the hassle on the Travel Talk tour, although some of the shops that the tour visits do feature some fairly persistent vendors.

Just remember that they’re trying to make a living, and if you do want to buy, nearly every price is negotiable.

Traditional Moroccan grilled meats

For food and drink, similar rules apply to travelling in a good many countries – only drink bottled water, steer clear of salad and fruit that hasn’t been peeled, be wary of ice cubes (it might not be bottled water) and only eat food that is well cooked and served hot.

Check out this guidance for more info on staying healthy abroad.

Tagine Fez Morocco

Personally I didn’t get sick on the trip, but I travel a lot, and my stomach is pretty good at handling different types of food.

Many of the folks on our trip did get upset stomachs, diarrhea and the likes at some point in the tour, which is pretty much par for the course when travelling in areas like this.

Pack hand sanitiser and Imodium, or pop into a pharmacy when you’re in the country – there are plenty on hand, and they are more than used to handing over the right kind of pills to travellers in need!

If you go in the hotter months, stay hydrated, and be aware of the signs of dehydration – which can often manifest as food poisoning.

When’s the best time to visit Morocco?

Situated in North Africa, Morocco gets incredibly hot in the summer months (40C+), and quite cool in the Winter months, particularly at night and higher altitudes. There’s even skiing in the Winter.

Travel talk group member taking a picture

The best time to visit therefore is generally the Autumn and Spring time, when daytime temperatures are in the mid twenties, and it’s cool enough at night not to need to use air conditioning.

Pack layers as sometimes it can be a bit cool at night, especially in the desert and in the higher mountainous regions.

Is the Exotic Morocco tour of Morocco with Travel Talk Tours for you?

Of course, I can’t answer that exactly! Hopefully you’ve got an idea of whether or not it is based on the post above.

I would say that if you want to see a good amount of Morocco, have a safe and fun trip with good people that also happens to be great value, then yes.

Of course, if you’re not into group tours, this won’t be for you. Travel Talk also generally has an age range of 21 – 35 on their tours, although our guide said that they have had all ages, so if you’re young at heart this would work for you too!

One thing that did stand out as a positive was that many of the folks on the tour had been on Travel Talk tours before, and were planning to go on them again. Clearly the company is getting it right on their tours for their audience, which is a great sign.

Sand dune sahara Morocco

Finally, this wasn’t a “party” tour.Whilst alcohol was available at the hotels we were at, and stops were made to give us the option to purchase it (for example before heading into the desert), the long days, early starts and full schedule meant that whilst people might have had a beer or two (or some fine Moroccan wine!) in the evenings, there weren’t any late night party sessions.

Of course, this might vary based on your group, but again, indications from the guide were that this was very much the exception.

My friend and I will be traveling from Toronto to Morocco in mid-February. We are so glad we came across your post. This really helped us decide if we want to do the trip or not. With the recent travel advisory do you think it’s still safe to travel to Morocco ?

Laurence Norah says

Hey Tharsi!

So, there are very often travel advisories in destinations. In our experience, whilst they serve a useful purpose, they tend to be fairly broad brush, so it’s just a question of what you personally feel comfortable with. Currently I would personally see no reason not to travel to Morocco, but I can’t of course promise you that it’s a safe destination – nowhere truly is (even home!). So it’s always a personal decision. I think it’s safe yes, no less safe than the majority of destinations around the world, but that’s just my thought.

Not sure if this helps, but I hope you have safe travels 🙂

Hello there!

Thank you so much for the blog post! Part of the reason I ended up booking was due to it. I leave in a few days and im very excited!

I was wondering if you had a rough budget/general idea of how much you spent while on the tour? I can’t seem to find one from Travel Talk, and I’m just trying to sort out how much I should bring. Just a rough estimate would be great!

Thanks again,

17th December 2018 at 4:04 pm

Hey Breanna!

Our pleasure! You’re going to have an awesome time 😀

So, your main expenses will be your Travel Talk local fees (the exact amount should be in your booking,/pre-departure info), money for entrance fees to each paid attraction or museum you wish to visit (the amount for each should be in pre-departure info), and any money for any optional activities you wish to do (options and prices should be provided, these are normally booked the day you arrive and meet your tour group and leader).

The rest of your budget would be money for meals that are not covered (meals are relatively inexpensive in Morocco , you can normally eat for 5 to 10 USD we’d say), extra money for snacks/souvenirs/gratuities/extras (many public toilets have an attendant/cleaner present that you should tip a small amount).

On one of the last days of the trip, the group will collect tips/gratuities for the driver and tour guide (this is recommended but optional, and you can give what you wish).

We did not spend a lot of money in Morocco but some of the people on our tour bought a lot of souvenirs, goods, snacks, etc., and you decide if you want to do optional activities or not so you do have quite a bit of control over your budget. We’d also add that near the start of the tour there were some stops so folks could stock up on drinks and so on, which is a good budget option.

I’d exchange your money in Marrakesh after you arrive, the tour staff can tell you the best place for rates. I’d keep cash on you as some shops/stalls may not accept credit cards. You can pay the local payment in GBP, EUR, USD or the local currency; however the Travel Talk website advises you to pay the local payment in GBP in order to avoid exchange rate differences at the destination 🙂

This website should give you a good idea of some of the average prices for things like food, groceries, coffee, and souvenirs in Morocco: https://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/in/Marrakech?displayCurrency=MAD

Hopefully this helps! We’d also say that if you’re doing the desert night sleep over, to make sure to bring some warmer clothes as the desert can be cold at night, especially at this time of year 🙂

Have an awesome trip, and do pop by when you are done to let us know how it was!

Excellent Blog! very helpful … and the links were informative! My husband and I are going on the Exotic Morocco tour in July. We were wondering about when and where to get cash. Should we get a large sum at once? or smaller portions along the way? Also, does the dessert get cold at night in July? We want to pack light and just wondering about the best type of clothing to bring. Thanks for your help!

10th May 2018 at 8:54 am

We felt very safe on the tour so you should be fine to get a fair amount of cash, but the guides will tell you at the beginning of the tour as to your options for where you can withdraw cash so you can plan accordingly. We were there a little later in the year than July so it was a bit cool in the evenings, but the tents came with blankets. I have to confess I’m not sure exactly how cold it would be – I’m guessing not freezing, but possibly a bit cool, so maybe bring some warmer layers to be on the safe side. And do please pop back once you’re trip is done so I can update the post!

Thanks ever so much for your detailed blog, it inspired me to sign up and I am now going solo trip next month. I have read many reviews that it helps to arrive a day or two ahead of the tour to explore Marrakesh. What would be your must-see places and what was your average budget per day? I plan on purchasing my first professional camera, what would be suited for Morocco as a beginner?

11th March 2018 at 8:59 pm

My pleasure, I’m sure you’re going to have an awesome time 😀 It definitely helps to arrive early if you want to see Marrakesh as the tour doesn’t include a lot of time for signtseeing. We’ve written a guide to our favourite things to do in Marrakech, which you can see here: https://independenttravelcats.com/12-things-to-do-in-marrakesh-morocco-marrakech/

In terms of budget, it’s not a very expensive place, I’d say you could easily get by on £20 – £40 a day.

For a camera, that’s quite a big question. I’m not sure exactly of your budget, but I’d probably recommend either a mirrorless camera like the Sony a6000 or the Fuji X-A5, or the Canon Rebel EOS 200D to get started. I’ve actually written a whole guide to picking a travel camera which might help, you can see that here:

https://www.findingtheuniverse.com/best-travel-camera/

If you read that and still have questions, I’m happy to help of course!

Happy travels!

Thank you very much for all the details included in this article. I have 2 big curiosities: did you go to Chefchaouen too? We’d be very interested in visiting it and I saw it mentioned on the website describing the tour. Also, did you pay full amount of the trip upon subscribing? Thanks much for your help and happy visiting:)

17th February 2018 at 8:35 pm

Hi Simona! The tour we did, titled Exotic Morocco, did not go to Chefchaouen, however, looking at the itinerary, this tour does seem to have been updated and now includes Chefchaouen. For the payment, Travel Talk splits the payment into two parts – one part that you pay up front, and one part that you pay locally when you arrive. This is made pretty clear when you book, and is listed as the tour price and the local payment. So you pay the tour price on booking, and the local payment on arrival. Hope this helps!

18th February 2018 at 7:07 am

Thank you very much for clarifying and for inspiring me to choose them for the Morocco tour!

19th February 2018 at 6:12 pm

My pleasure – have a great trip!

Review: Travel Talk Tours Adventure Morocco

Travel Talk Tours is a UK based company that came highly recommended to me by a friend who travelled with them in 2014. I chose the ‘Adventure Morocco’ itinerary based on the fact that it spent the most time in the Sahara Desert however there are a variety of different tours on offer for each country so you are able to choose a trip that is best suited to your interests!

On arrival to Marrakech a complimentary airport transfer to the hotel was included which was really convenient. The Golden Tulip Marrakech was a lovely establishment with both the dinner and breakfast buffets having a range of western and Moroccan cuisines. The rooms were simple, clean and the pool in the second building was nice to relax by (the main pool was out of service but we were directed to the alternate option by the friendly staff). As I booked as a solo traveller and there were an odd number of participants (usually you are paired with another solo traveller), I was treated to a huge room to myself which was a really lovely surprise 🙂

Golden Tulip Hotel Marrakech

The first night usually has an optional group dinner and a trip to the central Marrakech square (Jemaa el-Fnaa) however there were issues with finding a bus so this was not available. Unfortunately, we were not informed about this or that the group meeting had been delayed so a lot of people stayed at the hotel instead of exploring Marrakech expecting to be required at 6pm. I would recommend going into Marrakech on the first night as all the information given at the meeting is repeated throughout the trip to refresh your memory. As we would be spending our last night in Marrakech I did not miss out on the square however, I would have loved to have gone to the leather tanneries on the last day instead.

View from first stop

Later in the day we stopped at a traditional Moroccan market. The meat stalls were not for the light hearted as there were live animals on death row!

meat markets

From there we travelled through stunning landscape, making two stops for photo opportunities.

Dades Gorge

The last stop of the day before Zagora was Ouarzazate the ‘Hollywood of Morocco’ which was home to the film sets of Gladiator, Game of Thrones, The Mummy and Jewel of the Nile. Here we climbed to the top of this UNESCO World heritage site and got a view of the desert, green oasis and snowy Atlas Mountains all in the horizon.

Gladiator place

While there we stopped at the Kasbah of a woman who lives in Ouarzazate and who served Russel Crowe when he was filming there, here we were given tea and snacks.

Kasbah

In Zagora we stayed at Hotel Kenzi Azghor. Once again the accommodation was simple and clean and extremely roomy.

room 3

From Zagora we travelled to our first Sahara Desert stop in SUV’s. On the way we stopped at an oasis for lunch, then continued on to the campground.

oasis selfie

The SUV ride was a highlight of the trip with some of us opting to hop on top the cars.

on top of car in sahara

Without a doubt my favourite stop of the entire tour, the landscape surrounding the first campsite was stunningly surreal and unforgettable.

jumping in the sahara

That night we had a traditional dinner in a berber tent with Moroccan music, then headed up to the sand dunes to have a few drinks and watch the beautiful sunset over the endless dunes.

Campsite in the Sahara

On the way to our second desert campsite  we stopped at a traditional Moroccan ceramic establishment where we watched the creation process.

ceramic place

On arrival to the second campsite we took a camel ride to lunch at a local’s house. The camel ride was so much fun however be prepared, after 1+ hours it can be uncomfortable. At lunch the girls had the option to have henna done.

On a camel arms out

As the men in charge of the camel rides went to leave we were informed we needed to tip 50 Dirham for the camel instructors and 70 Dirham for the SUV drivers  – as a note it would have been better if we had been told this before we left for the desert so we could have withdrawn sufficient money from the ATM in advance. Even more practical would be if this was added to the local payment (£160) that we paid on arrival so that getting cash out for tipping was not necessary.

Our second desert campsite was vastly different to the dunes on the first night and while I still really enjoyed it, the first campsite was a clear winner in terms of its unbelievable landscape. Like the previous night, there were hot showers, flushing toilets, an amazing tagine dinner and (considering we were in the middle of nowhere) an awesome breaky the next day.

flat desert oasis in background

The largest travel day was from Zagora to Agadir. Plenty of stops were made on the way to break up the journey and the amazing scenery meant the time flew by. Compared to the other towns there was probably the least to do in Agadir. I recommend taking a beach walk as this is where we ended up relaxing for most of the day.

asgadir beach_1

Staying at the Tulip Inn Oasis was very convenient as it was right on the beach and central to all the restaurants and nightlife.

On the way from Agadir to Essaouira we made a stop where our guide Abdul helped us find scorpions for him to pick up so we could get a closer look at them.

IMG_8433

By the time we got to Essaouira the sun was setting so we only got to see the last few seconds of it but it was absolutely amazing. Essaouira was probably my favourite place other than the Sahara that we visited and I really wish we had more time in this city. If you are planning your own trip I highly recommend spending an extra day here instead of Agadir.

essouria sunset

The dinner restaurant we were taken to was nice but I would advise on going to a place actually inside the old city instead (both in terms of quality and price). Additionally, if you go on this tour I highly suggest exploring the old town after dinner as you only get half a day there the following morning.

Essourisa old town had an awesome vibe. It was colourful and had a vast array of markets and restaurants. The beach also offers a wide range of watersports activities, as well as camel rides and quad biking through the sand dunes. Unfortunately we only had time to wander the old town, but when I eventually return I cannot wait to explore more!

IMG_0658

After half a day in Essaouira we departed back to Marrakech. On the way back we stopped to view goats that climb trees in Morocco. This was strange to see however it was also quite sad, as all of the goats we saw were not naturally doing this and had been tied to the trees by their owners who get tourists who stop to pay them. Consequently, a lot of us did not hop out (the goats were tied up with no shelter from the sun and appeared frightened). A few people on the trip hopped out to see them but as this took an hour out of our time in Essaouira, it is an activity I would have omitted.

On arrival back to Marrakech we set off for the stunning square. Here we wandered the markets, saw snake charmers (it is around 20 Dirham if you want a photo of them), male bellydancers, monkeys and a vast array of market stalls.

Marrakesh markets

The group then found a restaurant overlooking the square to have dinner and watch the sunset.

marrakesh sunset from dinner

On the last day goodbyes were said to trip mates over a buffet breakfast and a complimentary airport transfer for departures was included. Overall, I highly enjoyed my Travel Talk Tours Adventure Morocco trip and would recommend them to others. In particular the knowledge and experience Abdul the tour guide provided made this trip really stand out. His enthusiasm for the tour and smooth running of the itinerary also made this tour unique. However, I would advise to take a couple of things into consideration –

  • I am a solo female traveller who had never been to Morocco before so naturally I felt a tour would be a simple way for me to get a feel for the country. Furthermore, seeing the Sahara would have been significantly more complicated in terms of transport and accommodation without a tour. However, when it came to the Agadir, Essaouira and Marrakech – this could have all been booked independently and personal preferences in terms of how much time you want to spend at each place could be taken into consideration – eg. in future I would spend more time in Essaouira and skip Agadir.
  • Additionally, the group is taken to restaurants and activities recommended by Abdul (which are usually really good) but remember that you don’t always have to take up these suggestions and it is ok to leave the group. In fact, I would recommend choosing your own restaurants when possible (such as in Essaouira and Marrakech) as the times we did this ended up being some of the most memorable places. Another example of this would be when we were taken to the silver shop in Essaouira. Considering the very limited time we had in the city, leaving the group to spend more time in the old town (especially as it was more of a sales activity) was a better use of time.

Booking Information

You can book this tour here and explore other Travel Talk itineraries on their website .

Keep an eye out for sales as I scored an amazing 40% off meaning I saved around £200. If you live in the UK TNT Travel Show is a great way to get sales on tours, and Travel Talk Tours in particular always have good discounts at these events.

Also remember to add the £160 cash local payment on arrival to your budget.

Suitcase And I attended Travel Talk Adventure Morocco Tour as a paying customer who researched extensively when deciding on a tour company to visit Morocco with. As always, the opinions in my review are my own.

Wish I had time to visit Jordan, that will be amazing! Can’t wait to read about your time there 🙂 I am actually doing an Egypt tour with Travel Talk in December so I will definitely post how I found it!

March 16, 2016 at 11:56 AM

How did you find the Egypt tour? I traveled with Travel Talk in June to the Greek Islands and am considering booking with them again to go to Egypt this summer. I would love to know your thoughts!

March 18, 2016 at 3:22 PM

Hi Emily! I just posted a full review and detailed itinerary of my time in Egypt with Travel Talk Tours here – https://www.suitcaseandi.com/travel-talk-tours-egypt-jewels-of-the-nile-review/ If you want to skip to my pros and cons that is at the end of the article but in short however, I had an absolute blast and it was one of my favourite trips to date so I would definitely recommend it 🙂 Glad to hear that you are eager to visit such a beautiful country that has so much to offer travellers! All the best!

Hello! I realize this is a year later almost but I am taking the Exotic Morocco tour in August. I was just curious based on your trip, what would you say would be a good budget for meals and spending not included in the trip & local payment?

Great pictures and looks like you had an amazing time!

May 19, 2016 at 6:47 PM

Hi Veronica! I would not have spent more than $20 per meal and keep in mind that breakfast and dinners are included almost every day so you are only spending money on around one meal a day. In terms of spending – you have the opportunity to buy things at the Marrakech markets and we brought some drinks before we headed to the Sahara. So I would tentatively say bring $300 AUD (that’s $30 AUD a day so a bit more then what you will probably spend) but then if you have any left over, the last day is the day you head into Marrakech markets and there are cool trinkets and souvenirs and restaurants you could spend any excess money on!

I hope you have an amazing time! I loved Morocco and cannot recommend it enough 😀

June 20, 2016 at 4:22 AM

Hi! I’m considering taking the Morocco tour with Travel Talk Tours, I was wondering if you remember if the bus and hotels have AC? Since I’m considering going in August 🙂 Thanks!

June 21, 2016 at 2:03 PM

Hi Fiona! While I don’t remember specifically about the hotels as the whether was quite mild while I was visiting, the bus was very modern so I believe it had AC 🙂 Travel Talk Tours have a list of hotels they use for each tour on their website so an option could be to google these hotels and look at their facilities? Alternatively, I have always found TTT to be really helpful via email so if you email the company directly I am sure they would be eager to assist! Hope you have an amazing time, happy travels xx

10 DAYS IN MOROCCO ITINERARY

Day 1: arrival to marrakech.

I arrived at Marrakech International Airport for the beginning of my 10 days in Morocco   and a driver from Travel Talk Tours was conveniently awaiting my arrival.

From Marrakech Airport, we drove for twenty minutes to the city and checked into the hotel.

Here I met the other tour members and our guide, Abdul, for a group briefing of the itinerary   which included in-depth details of what we would be getting up to over the next ten days in Morocco.

After the tour briefing, we headed off on foot to a traditional restaurant in the Marrakech medina for dinner where we all had the chance to get to know each other a little better.

DAY 2: MARRAKECH & ESSAOUIRA

We started the morning early to explore the Bahia Palace, Saadian Tombs, and Koutoubia Mosque in the heart of Marrakech.

My favorite spot was the  Bahia Palace  which plays home to unique courtyards, ornate archways, and stained glass windows reflecting a rainbow of colors on the inside walls.

From Marrakech, we jumped on the tour bus to make the three-hour journey to our next destination on the itinerary, Essaouira , stopping halfway between the two cities for lunch at a local restaurant.

Essaouira is one of Morocco’s most popular and laid-back beachside towns on the southwest coast of North Africa.

After checking into the hotel in Essaouira, we had a few hours of free time which we spent exploring this bright and breezy coastal town including Essaouira Beach, Essaouira Medina, and Essaouira Port.

That night we all met up again as a group and headed to a local restaurant inside the medina for some Moroccan cuisine and tea.

DAY 3: CASABLANCA

On day three of the 10 day Morocco itinerary, we had an early rise to make the six-hour bus journey to Casablanca.

We made several stops along the way for bathroom breaks, much-needed coffee, expansive viewpoints and to see the unique tree goats!

We eventually arrived in Casablanca around 1 pm and headed straight to one of the beachside restaurants for lunch.

I didn’t get the chance to visit Casablanca on my first trip to Morocco in 2017, so I was very excited to see it this time around on the Exotic Morocco Tour .

We visited several standout attractions in Casablanca including the enormous Hassan II Mosque (the largest mosque in all of Africa), the United Nations Square, and a stroll through the old medina.

The French colonial legacy can also be seen in the Mauresque architecture throughout the city.

Casablanca was one of my favorite locations we visited during our 10-day tour of Morocco!

DAY 4: RABAT & CHEFCHAOUEN

The next stop on the tour is Rabat, the country’s capital city.

Rabat is located on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean on Morocco’s western coastline and the Bouregreg River runs right through the region.

The morning started with a short visit to the King’s Royal Palace at sunrise, followed by the Hassan II Tower, Chella Ruins, Mohammed V Mausoleum, and Kasbah Royal Fort.

CHEFCHAOUEN

The tour continues from Rabat to Chefchaouen , which is approximately a four-hour drive passing over the Middle Atlas Mountains.

Chefchaouen is located in the northern region of the country among the Rif Mountains and it’s one of the best places to visit in Morocco!

Chefchaouen, also known as the Blue City or the Blue Pearl, is filled with striking blue-washed houses and buildings which are said to symbolize the sky and heavens, serving as a reminder for one to lead a spiritual life.

I personally felt as though I was on cloud 9 and enjoyed getting lost in the maze of twisting alleyways lined with flower pots, native handicrafts, wool garments, and colorful woven blankets!

Before the day was out we hiked for fifteen minutes to Bouzaafar Mosque on the outskirts of the city.

This Spanish mosque offers the best panoramic views over Chefchaouen making it the most popular spot to watch the sunset over the blue-rinsed mountain city!

The loud sounds of prayer echo through the air, bellowing from the speakers mounted on the tall minarets.

DAY 5: CHEFCHAOUEN & FES

Another early morning rise to explore more of the Blue City on day 5!

My friends and I hiked to the Bouzaafar Mosque again for sunrise and then headed back into the twisting alleyways to take photos before the crowds of tourists filled the streets.

Jumping back on the tour bus, we left Chefchaouen at around 2 pm and continued the Morocco itinerary adventure onwards to Fes which is a 3.5-hour drive to the third-largest city in Morocco.

The tour bus dropped us off at the hotel in Fes to freshen up before heading out to a traditional Hammam dinner and show.

Day 6 of the 10-day itinerary was spent exploring the ancient walled city of Fes.

It’s said that Fes is the cultural capital of Morocco and more than 150,000 people live within the confined spaces of the Medina.

I am not a huge fan of cities, though Fes is like no other city I have been to.

A city where hand-pulled carts and donkeys are the only means of transportation inside the Medina and the buzzing daily commerce inside the medieval walls will give you a very authentic experience and a taste of the real Moroccan culture .

The sites we visited in Fes were the Royal Palace, the Mausoleum of Moulay Idriss, Najjarine Square, the spices market, and the world-famous Tannery of Fes .

DAY 7 & 8: SAHARA DESERT & MERZOUGA

Sahara desert.

The Morocco Tour continues to Merzouga in the Sahara Desert which is an eight-hour journey from Fes.

The drive through the High Atlas Mountains is nothing short of spectacular and unlike any other landscape I have ever seen. I am positive you’ll enjoy this part of the journey.

We arrived in Merzouga at around 4 pm and after a quick freshen-up, everyone was hoisted up onto a camel’s back!

The camel train made tracks through the red dunes for one hour before arriving at the desert camp.

We dropped our bags off in the rugged tents and ran up the nearest dunes to catch the sunset.

This is one of those moments where I took a few seconds to appreciate where I was – standing on top of the highest dune in the Sahara Desert watching a sunset that I will never forget!

After watching the sunset in the Sahara, we gathered around the fire in the middle of the camp and we gobbled down a three-course traditional Moroccan meal while the local guides performed on their djembe drums!

It was a very magical night spent under the dancing stars, surrounded by the great Sahara Desert dunes!

Day 8 of the 10 day Morocco itinerary, we were up at the crack of dawn to take a sunrise camel trek back to the village of Merzouga which lies on the edge of the Sahara Desert.

Here we were each allocated another rugged tent to sleep in for the night that is situated right next to a hotel.

After stuffing our faces at the buffet breakfast, the Jeeps were geared up and ready to take us all back into the Sahara Desert for the ultimate 4×4  adventure in the sand dunes!

We also stopped by a small nomad village on the edge of the desert to get an insight into the way of life these people live in the Sahara.

In the afternoon we had free time to do whatever we wanted, so my friends and I headed back out into the dunes on foot to take photos and enjoy another unforgettable sunset in the Sahara Desert.

DAY 9: MARRAKECH

Day 9 is a travel day from the Sahara Desert back to Marrakech.

The drive takes approximately twelve hours, stopping at several viewpoints along the way that offer panoramic views of the surrounding Atlas Mountains!

We arrived back in Marrakech, checked in to the hotel, and then headed into the city for the evening to explore the madness of the Medina!

Destination Must-See's

Morocco ms1

Rick’s Cafe:

Featured in the blockbuster movie Casablanca from 1942, a visit to this restaurant is sure to spark your nostalgia. Feel like you’ve stepped into the movie as you surround yourself in the scenery reminiscent of the film. Although this is a recreation, not where it was filmed, your imagination will take hold as you watch the film on repeat and get a taste of what it was like back in the day.

Morocco ms2

Casablanca:

Morocco’s largest city, main port and most cosmopolitan city, this bustling metropolis and economic hub is sprinkled with tree-lined parks and charming colonial architecture. Its most famous landmark is the elaborate Hassan II Mosque, one of the world’s largest mosques built on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean.

Morocco ms3

Mud brick homes:

These homes have been used throughout the world but are extremely popular in the Middle East, India and North Africa. A mud brick is made of mud or clay that is mixed with straw and hardened by baking it in the sun or a kiln. It is very inexpensive and is environmentally friendly. And most importantly, keeps houses cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

Morocco ms4

Moroccan people:

The Berber people are Morocco’s original inhabitants but it has been touched by many cultures because of its location. As a result, its people are amongst the friendliest and most hospitable people in the world. Today, it is considered an Arab nation, but you can see the diversity of the country, particularly in the variety of languages spoken – French, Spanish, Arabic and Berber dialects.

Destination Must-Do's

Morocco md1

Enjoy the cuisine:

When visiting Morocco you have to try a local favorite – stuffed bread. It is comparable to a flat bread sandwich in America with a Moroccan touch. This savory meal is filled with traditional fillings including beef or lamb suet, onions, parsley, and Moroccan spices – ginger, white pepper, coriander, turmeric, allspice, and cinnamon.

Morocco md2

See the Markets:

Souks, local markets, immerse you in the culture of morocco. Every Moroccan town has a souk quarter typically named after the day of the week they are open. No matter where you are you will find busy aisles lined with vendors selling many types of products – rugs, jewelry, metals, wood and pottery, clothing, leather goods and fresh food.

Morocco md3

Visit Rug Makers:

Traditionally, Moroccan rugs were hand woven and tied by the Berber tribe women and can take up to a year to complete. Some rugs are made as a floor covering and others are woven to hang from the wall like a tapestry. Rug designs typically depict a piece of history passed down from generation to generation, or tell the story of the weaver’s life, representing things from femininity to spirituality.

Morocco md4

Feed the Monkeys:

Learn all about MonkeyWatch, a primate eco-tourism, anti-poaching conservation program run by the Moroccan Primate Foundation in Ifrane National Park. It works to protect the Barbary apes and macaques that live in the forests of the park. Visitors will even get a chance to feed these wonderful creatures.

Expert Advice

diana

If you have some extra time before your tour begins to explore Casablanca, you’ll find plenty to do! Venture out to Safi, a port that has been of importance since Roman times, and view its grand ramparts and the fortress of Dar el Bahar.

Morocco e2

You’ll find many unique gifts in the souks (local markets). When venturing out during the day, it is typically very warm so be sure to wear loose, breathable but conservative clothing. In Moroccan culture, long skirts or slacks would be appropriate, but please no short hemlines, tank tops or tight fitting clothing.

Morocco e3

You’re in for a treat as you discover the flavors of Morocco! Be sure to try fish tagine, a mqualli (or sauce made with ginger, saffron and oil) combined with chermoula, olives and preserved lemons to add some zest and extra flavor!

Morocco Guided Tours & Guided Vacations

EXPERIENCE WITH TAUCK

A day of immersion in Berber culture and cuisine, including dining, music, and entertainment under desert tent, and a camel ride

TAUCK VALUE INCLUDES

Lunch in a terraced home in Moulay Idriss near the ruins at Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site

Lunch at Rick's Cafe in Casablanca, modeled on the one in the film Casablanca

Exclusive dinners in beautiful riads in Fes – rooftop farewell reception (weather permitting) in Marrakech

Choice of a Moroccan cooking class, a photography tour of coastal gem Essaouira, or a pampering hammam spa treatment

SEE WHAT YOUR JOURNEY INCLUDES

Active components such as hiking, bicycling and walking longer distances may be included, and hills and/or uneven terrain may be encountered on several days. Guests should be able to walk two to three miles and stand for long periods of time with no difficulty.

Often robust – may include long days, active sightseeing, early starts, evening activities, significant travel times.

Experiences of a lifetime

Experience the heart of Morocco, Africa at Europe's doorstep… ancient cities, medinas, kasbahs, and souks… windswept coastline and desert treasures… on a 10-day journey through a timeless land...

Visit the leather tanneries of fes, a trip through time at the ancient leather tanneries of fes.

Like an artist's tray of paints, the huge vats of dyes that decorate the urban landscape around the redolent tanneries of Fes are awe-inspiring... no less than the processes the tanners use to dye and dry leather, virtually unchanged since medieval times. The tanners' tools include water, limestone, pigeon droppings, and their bare feet and hands to knead and dye the leather to its required consistency, which may eventually grace the souks of the medina as exquisite purses and slippers.

Dinner in the desert, Berber-style

Travel by 4x4 vehicle to a berber-style dinner in a desert camp.

In the desert outside Marrakech, ancient Berber villages preserve time-honored folkways and rituals – like the traditional Moroccan tea ceremony – that have survived for centuries. Ride aboard a 4x4 vehicle to one of these villages for tea with the village chief and a crash-course in Berber culture. Then it's on to our desert camp, where dinner is served Berber-style under a tent with musical entertainment. Experience local customs like riding a camel... smoking shisha (using a hubbly-bubbly pipe, or hookah, to smoke flavored tobacco)... or having your hands or feet decorated with traditional henna designs!

Four Seasons Resort Marrakech

Nights 6, 7, 8 and 9

Capturing the magic of Marrakech...

Imagine a place where you can lose yourself in the magic of Marrakech from the comfort of a luxury resort. A place where Moorish gardens surround silvery swimming pools... where jasmine and roses perfume the air... where exotic experiences are part of daily life and where your wish is our pleasure. Imagine Four Seasons Resort Marrakech... where traditional values and contemporary comforts unite.

Tauck filled every day with the variety and culture of the country we enjoy and have come to expect. The architecture was amazing and the food was fabulous!

About Booking This Tour

Travel Documents

If you are a U.S. citizen traveling internationally , you will need a passport valid for six months beyond the completion of your Tauck journey for entry into Morocco; however, you do not need a visa for the short duration of this tour.

If you are a citizen of another country traveling internationally , you should contact a consulate or embassy of Morocco to determine what travel documentation is required.

Please note that longer stays abroad for any purpose may require additional travel documentation.

We strongly recommend that you make at least two photocopies of all the travel documents that you bring with you. Include copies of the photo page of your passport that contains the date of issuance, the date of expiration and your citizenship. Secure one set of copies in the safe in your room while traveling and leave one set behind with someone at home who will assist you in the event your documents are misplaced, lost or stolen.

To facilitate Travel Requirements, destinations are increasingly utilizing online forms that require digital proof that you've successfully completed your submission (via an email, QR code, etc.) To ensure smooth travels and peace of mind, we strongly recommend all guests carry a personal smart phone and sign up for international data plans before traveling overseas.

TRAVELING WITH CHILDREN AS A GUARDIAN: If you are traveling as the guardian of a child/children, we strongly suggest that you carry a letter from both parents of the child authorizing emergency treatment in the event of illness or accident. For travel abroad, many foreign countries have specific entry requirements for children under 21 who are traveling internationally without BOTH parents. (These requirements are in response to the increased incidence of children being abducted and taken abroad.) PLEASE NOTE THAT TAUCK IS NOT RESPONSIBLE for the disruption of travel caused by improper documentation for children traveling without both parents.

Tauck's Guest Protection provides you with cancellation protection before your journey begins as well as insurance benefits while you are traveling. Guest Protection includes the following:

Cancellation Waiver – Provided by Tauck:

Under Tauck's Cancellation Fee Waiver you can cancel your tour for ANY REASON up to the day before departure and receive a money-back refund (except in Extreme Circumstances*) on the land tour cost, based on your original method of payment.

*Extreme Circumstances:  In the event of an act of God, war (whether declared or undeclared), terrorism, accident, natural disaster, outbreak of disease, or other event or circumstance beyond our control that contributes to or results in cancellation rates above our historical cancellation rates in the absence of such event or occurrence, Tauck reserves the right to issue a credit to you in lieu of a money-back refund, applicable to a future Tauck journey.

Travel Insurance Benefits – Underwritten by United States Fire Insurance Company.

This protection provides insurance coverage that applies only during the covered trip. You may have coverage from other sources that provides you with similar benefits but may be subject to different restrictions depending upon your other coverages. You may wish to compare the terms of this policy with your existing life, health, home and automobile policies. If you have any questions about your current coverage, call your insurer, insurance agent or broker.

This optional Guest Protection must be requested at time of booking and fee must be included with initial payment. Fees are based on costs as of July 2021, and are subject to change. Details will be provided with written confirmation of your tour reservation. Guest Protection does not protect travel agent commissions. Reimbursements will be made according to original method of payment. The amount of any refund shall be reduced by any recoveries obtained by you from any third parties.

The Guest Protection plan waives cancellation fees outlined below, provided we are notified of cancellation before your tour departs. Tour cancellation fees are waived regardless of reason, without written notice, and Tauck will refund land tour cost.

To obtain your state-specific Certificate of Insurance that contains the complete terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions of the certificate, visit  affinitytravelcert.com/docs/TACGPPINTL .

If You Have To Cancel

If you cancel within 10 days of initial deposit Within the first 10 days after you place your initial deposit, you may cancel your reservation for any reason with no cancellation fees. If you cancel more than 10 days after initial deposit Regardless of reason, cancellations result in costly charges from our travel and hotel providers covering penalties and fees incurred by canceling confirmed bookings. These fees vary from tour to tour. Therefore, the following fees apply.

Loss of Guest Protection fee, per person

Cancellation Fees without Tauck's Guest Protection Plan :

Travel Requirements For This Tour

Air Information and Luggage Restrictions

AIRFARE: Airfare to and from this destination is not included in the journey cost. If purchasing your air elsewhere, it is very important to provide us with your confirmed arriving and departing flight information no later than 3 weeks before your arrival date. Flight information can be submitted to Tauck (or verified, if you've already provided it) in the My Account section of Tauck.com.

TAUCK AIRPORT TRANSFERS are included at the start and end of the journey between the airport and the Tauck hotel. Airport transfers are available for any pre tour or post tour hotel stays immediately consecutive to the tour, providing flight information is received in the Tauck office no later than three weeks in advance. Details on locating your transfer upon arrival to the tour start city will be included in your final documents.

AIRLINES and CHECKED LUGGAGE: Due to space limitations during your Tauck journey, we ask that you please limit your checked luggage to one average-size suitcase per person. Besides complying with the Tauck restriction noted above, you should also be sure to research and comply with all airline baggage restrictions relating to your flights to and from your Tauck journey. Airlines have become much more strict in enforcing size and weight limits in recent years, and are free to revise luggage policies without notice. Researching and complying with airline luggage restrictions is the responsibility of the guest, and Tauck cannot be held responsible for any costs or disruptions to travel caused by the failure to research and comply with airline policies. PLEASE NOTE that if you are booked on a tour that includes on-tour flights, the checked luggage weight restrictions for these flights may be lower than the weight restrictions for your international flights.

Checked Luggage – General

Due to space restrictions, we ask that you please limit your checked luggage to one suitcase per person weighing no more than 50 pounds (23 kg) and with overall dimensions (length + width + height) not exceeding 62 inches (158 cm).

Besides complying with the Tauck restriction noted above, you should also be sure to research and comply with all airline baggage restrictions relating to your flights to and from your Tauck journey. Airlines have become much more strict in enforcing size and weight limits in recent years, and luggage exceeding airline standards for size or weight may result in expensive overage fees or other consequences.

Airlines are free to revise luggage policies without notice, and certain airlines have different baggage allowances for different classes of service. Researching and complying with airline luggage restrictions is the responsibility of the guest, and Tauck cannot be held responsible for any costs or disruptions to travel caused by the failure to research and comply with airline policies.

Tauck luggage tags will be provided by your Tauck Director on Day 1 of your itinerary. Please do not attach a Tauck luggage tag to any carry-on items, as the Tauck tags designate luggage that is to be handled and transferred by ground operators and hotel staff during your journey.

Carry-on Luggage - General

Although oversize bags and wheeled, carry-on luggage are popular for airline travel, they are often not convenient or appropriate for motor coach travel. Most modern sightseeing motor coaches offer limited space for numerous or larger items. Space under seats or in the overhead rack is typically small, and designed to accommodate items like coats, hats, purses, and small camera bags, etc.

For your day-to-day travel while on tour, we recommend that you limit your hand luggage to a small, soft-sided carry-on piece, and that you bring only those items you need handy during the day such as make-up, medications, cameras, film, etc. Items too large to fit under the motor coach seat or on the overhead rack must be stored in the luggage bays beneath the motor coach, and may be inaccessible during daytime travel.

Health, Safety and Mobility

HEALTH CONSIDERATIONS

While drinking water is generally safe at all our hotels, bottled water will be available wherever the local water is not fit to drink. We also provide bottled water on the motor coaches.

Please check with your health insurance provider to determine whether you are covered while traveling. If you will not be covered under your current policy, we strongly suggest that you arrange for adequate coverage while on tour.

If you have a medical condition that might limit your participation in activities, please consult your physician for pre-departure health advice and notify us as soon as possible, if you have not already done so. We will advise your Tauck Director accordingly.

VACCINATIONS

If you are a resident of the U.S. traveling internationally, no vaccinations are currently required for travel to Morocco. For complete vaccination and inoculation information, contact your physician, the public health service in your area, or the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in Atlanta, Georgia. The Travelers' Health Section of the CDC operates a 24-hour "Travelers' Health Hotline" at 800-232-4636 (toll-free in the U.S.). You may also log on to the CDC website by clicking here .

If you are a resident of another country traveling internationally , please contact an embassy or consulate of each of the countries on the itinerary to determine what vaccinations may be required for you to visit.

To enjoy this active tour, you should be in good health and able to walk reasonable distances, often over unpaved and uneven surfaces. Some of the most memorable sightseeing can only be accomplished on foot. The amount of walking you do, however, is at your discretion. We recommend that you pack sturdy, comfortable walking shoes that have already been broken-in to appreciate fully what Morocco has to offer.

Active components such as hiking, bicycling and walking longer distances may be included, and hills and/or uneven terrain may be encountered on several days. Guests should be able to walk two-to-three miles and stand for long periods of time with no difficulty. Your journey is moderately paced, and may include some early morning hotel departures and extended motorcoach travel.

PLEASE NOTE: We regret that this Tauck itinerary cannot accommodate wheelchairs or motorized scooters. Likewise, we regret that we're unable to provide individual assistance to guests with walking difficulties or other personal needs. The responsibility of the Tauck Director who accompanies your trip is to ensure that the larger group enjoys a relaxing and informative journey, and he or she cannot be relied upon to provide ongoing individual assistance to any one guest. Guests requiring such individualized assistance must be accompanied by an able-bodied companion who can provide it.

SPECIAL DIETARY REQUESTS

The restaurants, hotels, caterers and numerous other partners we work with all do their best to accommodate special dietary requests from Tauck guests. However, given the diverse nature of those food providers (from small wineries to grand hotels to world-famous restaurants in more than 70 countries worldwide), some of our partners are better able than others to accommodate such requests. We therefore cannot guarantee that all dietary requests can be accommodated at every meal. Also, please note that where dietary requests can be accommodated, choices will frequently be limited.

Reading List

We have compiled a reading list of recommended books to give you more information about the destinations you will be traveling to on your upcoming journey!

You can view the reading list  here.

It's hot and sunny for most of the year in Morocco. During the peak summer months it gets uncomfortably hot especially in Marrakech, Fes and southwest Morocco. Rabat and Casablanca are a bit more comfortable in the peak of summer because they benefit from a cooler ocean breeze.

What To Pack

Your journey is designed with leisure in mind. Dress for comfort and convenience with a wardrobe that is adaptable and allows for layering. Generally, during the day, casual, comfortable, cotton clothing is recommended. Cool weather at higher elevations or at night will require warmer, layered clothing.

As Morocco is a Muslim country, dressing modestly will make both you and the people you meet on your travels more comfortable.  Generally this means covering the shoulders and knees.  Women will need to cover their hair only when we visit the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca.  Scarves will be provided on the tour.

We recommend that you pack an adequate supply of your prescription medication in its original container to last through your entire journey, together with a copy of your doctor's prescription or a letter from your health-care provider on office stationery explaining that the medication has been prescribed for you, a list of the generic names of your medication, your travel documents and a change of clothing in your carry-on bag to avoid any inconvenience in the event that your flight or luggage is delayed.

Following is a list of recommended items to pack for your journey to Morocco:

  • Cotton, cotton/synthetic and linen clothing
  • Light weight shirts, pants, capri pants and dresses
  • Light jacket or sweater
  • Jacket and tie and casually-elegant attire for fine dining
  • Comfortable walking shoes that will work well on uneven or cobblestone pavement
  • Shoes will only need to be removed when the tour visits the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca.  Please bring at least one pair of socks for this visit.
  • Hat (a wide brimmed hat is recommended)
  • Collapsible umbrella
  • Camera, lenses, batteries, memory cards and chargers
  • Soap leaves, travel packets of tissues, handkerchiefs and hand sanitizer
  • Travel alarm clock/cell phone with alarm function (many hotels do not have clocks in the rooms)
  • Copies of your travel documents that should be secured in the safe in your hotel room while traveling

Please refer to the Necessary Gear website at  www.necessarygear.com  as one option available to you for renting and purchasing apparel, PPEs, and other items appropriate for your journey.

Tour overview.

Adventure Morocco provides an amazing mixture of cultural exploration and adventure! Commence your journey at bustling Marrakesh before jumping on board a Jeep Safari through the vast Sahara. Stay in nomad tents like a Bedouin and indulge in a traditional Moroccan desert lifestyle. Experience the desert Moroccan-style as you spend a day trekking on a camel. To top it all, take a mental picture of the sunset over desert dunes to last for a lifetime. Then chill against the ocean breeze in Agadir and Essaouira. Attention: To catch the sunset at the desert; the groups departing from 20th of October to the 21st of May will spend one night in Ouarzazate, replacing one night in Essaouira.

Tag along your expert local guide and experience the changing landscape of Morocco from Imperial towns to the majestic Sahara and the Atlantic Ocean.

Recharge at hand-picked 4-star hotels & savour the desert atmosphere with 2 nights at the Sahara at our sedentary Desert Camps.

Have a taste of adventure with camel trekking and jeep safari in the Sahara, both included!

Soak in the magical desert sunset, watch the bright night stars alongside the campfire singing local tunes.

Connect with the locals over a friendly homevisit and explore an unspoiled Berber village.

Greet the Atlantic breeze at the seaside medinas of Agadir and Essaouira, both popular surfing locations!

No night drives, so you can rest comfortably. However, some long drives are required to cover all these incredible experiences.

Reviews of this operator

My travel talk experience was great and memorable.

My travel talk experience was awesome and fantastic. Me and my husband was on their Morocco and Turkey tours in 2019, they operated their tours in a culturally fun manner and the tour guides were very nice and very approachable. It exceeded our expection, we love to come back with them in our future travel. Thank you travel talk you made our 2019 as one of our memorable year!

We did the 11 Day...

We did the 11 Day Anzac Tour of Turkey. It. Was. Phenomenal. My husband and I absolutely love Turkey and were excited to explore the country. Highlights were definitely the Hot Air Balloons in Cappadocia and the privilege of attending the Dawn Service at Anzac Cove. A bucket list item ticked off. This was my second Travel Talk in 2024 and I would absolutely do another one in the future. The tour was organised and our guide, Mustafa, was fantastic.

One of the best holidays I’ve had

We went on a tour of the Balkans and it was above our expectations. Bojan was the best tour leader gave us so much information about the places we were visiting but also a great laugh! The tour ran so smoothly and was the perfect way to see the area in a little amount of time. It was one of the best holidays I have been on, I loved every minute of it and I can’t wait to book another tour with travel talk. They are great value for money!

Just completed the exotic Morocco...

Just completed the exotic Morocco tour with our excellent guide Abdul! He was one of the best tour guides I have met, he brought so much energy and knowledge on the tour and could not imagine doing the tour without him. The tour itself was so diverse, seeing so many different landscapes. It has been one of the best trips I have done. Would highly recommend!

I would 100% recommend the...

I would 100% recommend the ANZAC Travel Talks tour, just finishing the 11 day tour here in Istanbul with our guide Mustafa. I travel alone and have done multiple tours with other well known and popular travel companies and this has hands down been the best!!! INFORMATION! Haha So much engaging history and knowledge from our guide, I found the tours of the palace and ruins with Mustafa very enjoyable. The freedom to skip a museum or tour to explore the city was encouraged. Meet back points and day plans were clearly communicated making it easy to have autonomy in a group setting. I felt like I was in charge of my own holiday and tour experience, which as a solo traveller who loves to do her own thing was perfect! We visited such amazing places on this tour that were bucket list items and once in a life time experiences! A hot air balloon ride over Cappadocia, walking the ruins in Ephesus & Troy. The dawn service at ANZAC Cove and Lone Pine Gallipoli. I am still in awe of the amazing things we have done and seen in these last 11days! The country of Turkey itself is absolutely beautiful and the people here even more so. Very generous and kind, I always felt safe as a female travelling alone. The food AMAZING! Baklava, doner kababs, rice stuffed muscles and Turkish delights to name a few, will make you fall in love! Accommodation was big beautiful mostly 4-5 star hotels in great locations on the beach, in the city! Comfortable beds, ample space and an abundance of food! Most of our accomodation provided buffet breakfast and dinner. Not having to worry about where to eat at the end of a long day or before an early start was very convenient. The work placed into the ANZAC service, security and protection was hands down phenomenal. Multiple check points for security, Turkish workers handing out water, offering first aid, and clearly communicating and directing crowds for the services. All my anxieties for the day were put at ease seeing the work and dedication put in by the Turkish people and government. I honestly cannot fault this tour and want everyone to experience Turkey the way I have gotten to experience this beautiful country. This ANZAC tour will forever be in my memories and my heart as one of the best trips I have ever done! Truely, thank you, teşekkür ederim, Travel Talks Tours.

My partner and I thoroughly...

My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our 9 Day Essential Turkey tour with Mustafa as our guide. His attentiveness to the group's needs was amazing, going above and beyond to ensure an stress-free experience. Mustafa provided valuable local insights, guiding us on the best areas to visit and helping us find good local deals. Overall, we found the tour to be excellent value for money, and we were particularly impressed with traveltalks accommodation choices—clean, spacious, and offering great meal options. Additionally, the inclusion of two drivers for our safety during long journeys added an extra layer of reassurance to our memorable trip. Thank you to Mustafa!

Unforgettable Turkey Essentials: A Journey...

Unforgettable Turkey Essentials: A Journey with Travel Talk I recently had the pleasure of embarking on the Turkey Essentials tour with Travel Talk, and let me tell you, it was an adventure like no other! From the bustling streets of Istanbul to the ancient wonders of Ephesus, this tour was a perfect blend of culture, history, and pure fun. Travel Talk ensured that every aspect of our trip was well-planned. The accommodations were comfortable, the transportation was smooth, and the itinerary was perfectly curated to showcase the best of Turkey's rich history and vibrant culture. If you're looking for an incredible adventure in Turkey, I wholeheartedly recommend Travel Talk. Their attention to detail, knowledgeable guides (Mustafa), ensure a seamless and unforgettable journey. Whether you're a history buff, a culture enthusiast, or simply seeking a thrilling travel experience, Travel Talk has got you covered. Thank you, Travel Talk for an extraordinary tour that surpassed all expectations. I'll cherish the memories and stories from this adventure for a lifetime.

Fantastic tour, personable experiences

My first tour with Traveltalk to Jordan was fantastic. Everything was very well planned, the itinerary was timed to perfection and jam packed with amazing experiences. The tour guide Issa went above and beyond to make everyone happy and have the best experience possible, taking us to local restaurants and telling us the best things to eat. Our bus broke down on the way to the Dead Sea and he dealt with it really quickly, and a replacement bus arrived in less than an hour. He treated us all like his friend rather than just a job which make the tour even more special. The hotels were fab and had everything that we needed, all I great locations to local attractions. I booked another tour but had to cancel due to Covid and Traveltalk have placed my deposit aside ready to use on the next trip. I can’t wait to book again with them.

We did the 12 day...

We did the 12 day Turkey tour with the Gullet option, and loved it! The price was super reasonable, Travel Talk was always extremely responsive whenever I reached out. Most importantly, we visited an amazing array of impressive historical sites, saw the profound and varied natural beauty of Turkey and enjoyed incredible experiences like hot air ballooning and paragliding. Mustafa was the best tour guide we have ever had. His knowledge and organizational skills were top notch, he helped with everything (even with arranging laundry services) and was hilarious as well. The food was tasty, the hotels were good and the boat trip was fun and relaxing with beautiful scenery and a lot of swimming. The cabins on the boat weren’t air conditioned and were pretty hot at night, so some people slept on deck where there were plenty of places with cushions where you could stretch out and get a good nights rest. I highly recommend this tour!!

The 9-day Turkey Essentials tour...

The 9-day Turkey Essentials tour with Travel Talk Tours exceeded our expectations! The well-crafted itinerary showcased Turkey's best, complemented by excellent hotel choices. Mustafa, our guide, added depth with his rich knowledge, engaging storytelling and brilliant sense of humour. The seamless experience, from transportation, meals, accommodations, sightseeing and optional activities made this tour unforgettable. Highly recommended for those seeking a perfect blend of culture and comfort in Turkey.

Do You Need a Group Tour For Your Trip To Morocco? Read This First!

Sharing is caring!

morocco tour travel talk

My trip to Morocco was magical and a bucket list destination for me. I had planned this trip in my mind for years, and after several cancellations due to timing & coronavirus, I finally got to visit! I always imagined traveling solo like I usually do, but I  realized Morocco would be different. Booking a group tour for my trip to Morocco was the best decision! If you’re in the planning stages of your journey and want to know if you should book a group tour or go solo to Morocco, keep reading!

Is Morocco Safe ?

Whether you want to visit just one city in Morocco or go on an expedition, I recommend booking a group tour. Why, you ask? Because Morocco has so much to offer, and you won’t be able to absorb it all while doing it alone. If you’re visiting Marrakech, especially as a solo woman like me, a lot of your time walking around will be spent dodging the countless shop owners in the medina. Because I went on a group tour, I had built-in security and could relax and enjoy the experience. I took pictures at my leisure without worrying about pickpocketers, catcalling, or typical things that happen when traveling solo. However, I did visit Marrakech three days before the group trip on my own and did not have such freedom. Whenever I walked around the medina, I  had to be on guard and rarely took pictures unless I found a quiet corner.

Learn The History Of Morocco

morocco tour travel talk

Morocco has such a rich and beautiful history that it’s impossible to learn all about it in one visit, but having a knowledgeable tour guide helps. Several guides led us through our journey during my tour with Travel Talk Tours. Abdou was extremely helpful in explaining the culture of Morocco on topics such as marriage, politics, religion, and more. Abdou’s family is of Berber heritage, and he had a unique perspective I couldn’t have gotten with anyone else. If I had booked my trip outside of a group tour, it would’ve been hard to connect with my guide and ask personal questions. I appreciated that Travel Talk Tours highly vets their guides so you can have an optimal experience.

Transportation In Morocco

morocco tour travel talk

It’s not easy getting around Morocco if you don’t know what you’re doing. The Exotic Morocco tour visited five cities in ten days, and I couldn’t have planned all the transfers alone. This isn’t just about the cost; it’s about efficiency. If you plan to see all the sights like I did, you need to book a group tour like Travel Talk Tours . Public transportation can be lengthy when traveling around the country, especially in places like Chefchaouen, Essaouira, and Rabat. I noticed many other tours did not include these towns, which ended up being some of my favorites. A group tour is your best bet if you want a comprehensive look into what Morocco has to offer.

Booking with a group tour means you can be hands-off with the planning aspect of your trip. When I started posting my content to social media, I got a lot of comments about how I was able to fit so many activities into ten days. My secret was joining a group tour! In ten days, I saw so much of Morocco and visited historical monuments such as Hassan Mosque, Bahia Palace, argan oil making, goats in trees, and much more. When I had planned my trips previously, I never had several of these things on my list because they seemed out of the way and costly for one person. Booking with Travel Talk helped me see more of Morocco. I’m all about traveling efficiently because time is our most precious resource. I can’t tell you how nice it was to wake up and not worry about hotel reservations, activity planning, anything! All you have to do is wake up on time and show up to the van; the rest is taken care of. This tour allowed me the luxury of having downtime to think about life, talk with other people, and ask questions about Morocco!

The Downsides of a Group Tour

morocco tour travel talk

A group tour isn’t for everybody. If you have difficulty sharing space, this won’t be for you. I fortunately upgraded to the single supplement, so I had my own room in every city (I highly recommend it). You don’t want to come home to a stranger after a long day of excursions. But you will have to share a van with people you’ve never met. It’s not as scary as you think; it enriches the trip. Hearing others’ points of view on topics like religion, politics, and culture helped me understand Morocco even more. My group had fourteen other people, including my tour guide, and each person had a unique perspective that I could learn from. I thoroughly enjoyed having dinner with my new tour mates and discussing life in their cities. The group had people of all ages, so the stories were fun to hear!

Another downside is that there are no alternatives or upgrades. Travel Talk does not have an option (at least for the tour I was on ) to upgrade your room from whatever is presented. What you see is what you get. The tour states that the hotels are “3 & 4 Star”. However, they are more of a US 2-3 Star experience. I wouldn’t choose any of the hotels we had on my own, but I understand they were chosen due to them having free breakfast options for a large group of people.

For example, the tent I stayed in Merzouga during the Sahara Desert excursion was not up to my standard. I tried looking up pictures of the hotel beforehand, but it was minimal. When I arrived, I was shocked at how different the tent looked from what was advertised. Nevertheless, I was there for only two days, so I sucked it up. I rewarded myself with a flight home to Marrakech instead of the twelve-hour van ride from the desert. I arranged transportation with Abdou to Errachidia, booked a two-hour flight, and relaxed at my riad in Marrakech until my departure the next day.

If you’re planning on visiting Morocco, I recommend booking a group tour for the reasons I mentioned above. Travel Talk Tours is a great place to start for an efficiently planned trip. Let me know if you have any questions below!

TTC Tour Brands toasts to travel advisors at latest Travel Talk event

Post date: May 9 2024

Date: May 9 2024

By: Cindy Sosroutomo

MISSISSAUGA — Travel advisors and their clients got a taste – literally – of TTC Tour Brands’ extensive portfolio last night at the company’s Mississauga Travel Talk event.

Part of a 14-city roadshow across Canada this month and co-sponsored by Tourism Spain, the Mississauga event welcomed top travel advisors – hand selected by Sales Managers in the region – and their clients for an intimate evening of refreshments, presentations and prizes.

Brenda Bradley passes out olive oil samples

To highlight its vast offerings in destinations like Spain and beyond, the TTC team, led by Jenni Berg, Director of Sales and National Accounts, handed out samples of olive oil made by an olive oil grove in Spain that features prominently on a TTC tour. The sangria also flowed throughout the night, with guests taking home the recipe as a small keepsake of Spain, one of TTC Tour Brands’ most popular destinations.

Of course, this was just a small sampling of TTC Tour Brands’ umbrella, which comprises Trafalgar, Insight Vacations, Contiki, Uniworld, Luxury Gold, Costsaver, Brendan Vacations and more, for a combined total of over 1,000 trips in over 70 countries. But for the advisors and their clients in attendance last night, it was a perfect introduction to TTC’s tour offerings in Europe and beyond, particularly ahead of the busy summer season.

“One thing I can say that really does flow through all of our tour brands is not only what you’re getting when it comes to what’s included and the amazing value, but also the connections you make – with the person you’re travelling with, or with other people on your tour if you’re travelling solo, or with the locals. I know for me, I’m always in tears on the last day because you really do make some great friendships on our trips,” said Berg, who is celebrating her 20 th year with TTC Tour Brands next month.

According to Berg, the fact that the roadshow takes place in May – Travel Agent Appreciation Month – isn’t a coincidence. Leading a round of applause for the travel advisors in attendance, Berg said: “Our amazing travel advisor partners are very dear to our hearts. They are the ones who are connecting our travel experiences to our amazing travellers.”

In addition to several tour vouchers that were drawn last night, a grand prize ($500 gift card) was awarded to lucky travel advisor Cheryl Abbott, who was chosen at random. Every guest in attendance last night was also given $100 in savings per person – in addition to TTC Tour Brands’ seasonal sale that includes savings of up to $4,000 per couple on any tour brand – if they book a trip within the next 14 days.
