THE OFFICIAL SAFARI TANKS MOTORCYCLE FUEL TANKS WEBSITE
Safari Tanks has been supplying quality, long range motorcycle fuel tanks to riders throughout Australia and across the world since 2001.
Australia’s toughest motorsport event, the Australian Safari, was the event that triggered the beginning of Safari Tanks, but competition is just a small part of the successful Victorian operation.
Safari Tanks’ core market is the everyday dirt bike rider who wants to ride longer distances, without the worry of having to refuel or run dry.
Our tanks offer durability, and all our products have been proven and tested over the toughest conditions – in the Australian outback, the High Country, across the Nullabor Plain, and even in countries as diverse as the United Arab Emirates and in the Dakar Rally.
You can purchase a Safari Tank for the majority of dirt bike brands, including BMW, Gas Gas, Honda, Husaberg, Husqvarna, KTM, Suzuki, TM, Triumph and Yamaha.
We’re continually developing new tanks for the dirt bike market, and we look forward to making your riding experience more enjoyable, and allowing you to “Go Harder For Longer”.

Safari Tanks KTM SXC 625 27 Litre long range fuel tank.
This tanks turns the 625 into an impressive desert tourer, almost trebling the range of the stock tank. Despite this, it is narrow between the knees so it doesn’t intrude on the riding position. Remember, you don’t have to fill it unless you really need to!
Colours: Subject to availabilty: Orange, Black or Translucent (clear). Please note that the orange colour of our KTM tanks may not match the existing KTM orange plastics.
Fits: All models of KTM SXC 625 and most LC4 (620 and 640) models (please see the notes below).
Important Notes:
– Our tank will fit the SXC 625 using the standard seat.
– The SXC640 seat profile is different (not round).
– 620 may need modifications. The tank will fit onto the motorcycle frame but may interfere with the seat, fan and anti-pollution equipment, so some modifications may need to be made.
– Will fit 1996 GS with seat modification.
– Will NOT fit with CV (Constant Velocity) carburettor.
– Some bikes have an Air Box hex head bolt (LHS) which the tank might interfere with. The hex bolt can be replaced with Button Head bolt.
Includes: Cross brace bracket, fuel cap and breather line (no fuel tap supplied).

950 SE Safari Tank Fuel Sensor O Ring Fix??
Discussion in ' Dakar champion (950/990) ' started by Two Moto Kiwis , Feb 13, 2013 .
Two Moto Kiwis Homeless Somewhere
Good morning gents Thanks to good advice we have removed the tank and have the fuel sensor out, the O ring looks perfect but the tank face is cupped and every time the fuel tanks gets hot it starts squirting out as the tank deforms. I am thinking a petrol proof sealer coupled with the O ring would be a good fix?? How have you other guys fixed this? Cheers from Oaxaca
Crowley Adventurer
That works for me. Did you replace the valve on your petrol cap with an overflow pipe? Saw it on your picks when you did the forks. That is the cause of pressure in the tank that cause a leak.

If that doesn't work let me know and I'll send you some ethanol/gasoline resistant gasket material so you can cut your own and even stack it if the sensor isn't fitting flush with the tank.

I want to hear fixes for this also. I recently pulled my Safari and put the stock tank on because of this. I plan to buy a new sensor and petcocks to put on the Safari to make changing between the tanks a simple task.

Get some hylomar, and smear it around the oring and mount surface.
Ok, this is the stuff we used, according to the label unaffected by gas, oil and water ... time will tell. I put it in the O ring recess and on the flat surface or the sensor as well as the surface of the tank as well which is slightly convex Autozone in Mexico has Permatex so if this fails we will try that, on reading both labels etc this stuff appears to be more gasoline resistant ..... and it smells great
Schannulleke Been here awhile
I had the same problem. I wanted to buy an extra set of petcocks and sensor to have it permanently installed on the safari any way. In my cas it were the "wings" of the sensor (where the screws go through) that contacted the tank first and the middle part (in between the wings) and the tank still had some space in between at the same time. I just sanded the surface of the wings (a few millimeters at the tip of the wings and gradually less material removed towards the middle) so the sensor surface follows the curve of the tank. It needed some repeated iterations of sanding -> mounting -> leak-testing before I got it right but now it works perfectly. No gasket needed (important to me because a solution with a gasket is more difficult in the field to fix).

I am +1 on the problem being pressure in peoples tanks and not the seal. I had the same issue, common with the locking gas cap. If your venting is working and you aren't boiling your gas, it is not possible to have gas squirting from the sensor. After gas spraying and much consternation, I rebuilt my cap and haven't had a problem since.

The sealing is done and hopefully it will hold now the tank shouldn't pressurize. The result, O Ring and flexible glue Tube to the front and the Flexx pad doing the job. Relocate front tank one way breather to the rear

Two Moto Kiwis said: ↑ Yeah with a black 30L sun heat sync, 35 - 40 deg C temps, a hot twin poking heat at it the one way valve is probably not the best option. I swapped the one way valve to the back tank and put the vent tube to the front, coupled with the adhesive sealant etc I would like to think we are sorted. We were planning on leaving Oaxaca tomorrow however the teachers strike here means the city will blockaded at every exit and the city centre blockaded so we ain't goin anywhere !!! Time to catch up on trip reports!!!!! Click to expand...

Standard Ignition 3 Terminal Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor
Acdelco 3 terminal fuel tank pressure sensor, what is a fuel tank pressure sensor.
The fuel tank pressure sensor is part of your vehicle's fuel pump assembly or fuel tank and is used to detect pressure changes in the evaporative emissions (EVAP) system and fuel tank. Often mounted on the fuel tank, the fuel pressure sensor reads pressure levels in the fuel system to control and monitor the engine's fuel usage and detect evaporative leaks in the EVAP system. In some cases this may be as simple as a loose or faulty gas cap, but in any case, you may see a Check Engine light illuminate to alert you to a problem in the EVAP system. Reading the Check Engine light code can help you narrow down the source of the problem and determine if it's time to inspect or replace your fuel tank pressure sensor or other parts of the evaporative emissions system. If the fuel tank pressure sensor fails, you may notice hard starting, stalling, poor gas mileage, or poor acceleration due to EVAP system issues that affect the fuel ratio. The fuel tank pressure sensor is an important part of your vehicle's EVAP system, and any fuel system leaks should be addressed promptly as they can lead to excessive pollution and fuel loss. O'Reilly Auto Parts carries fuel tank pressure sensors for most applications. We also carry the gas cap, vapor canister, or other EVAP system parts you might need for your repair. For EVAP and fuel system resources, visit the O'Reily How-To-Hub for more information to help you complete your repair.

We just love what we do. Researching and building products that we regard as "World Class". The fun part of what we do is to pick "really hard problems" and solve them. Here are some eamples:
- DC DC Power Conversion at 250A 12V in a size saller than a Kleenix box and weighing 2.3kgs.
- Lithium batteries of the highest quality with CAN BMS displaying min max cell voltages less than 3 thousandths of a volt.
- Tank level monitoring to 1mm using phased co-herent radar technology as used in EV's.
- Digital switching that uses long range Bluetooth of 100m range.
- Digital switching that puts the smarts into the buttons. One press, two presses, three presses for different LED colours.
- Digital switching that uses native Apple, Google, Amazon or Samsung compliant technology for smartphones and no internet!
- Lithium batteries 400 x 180x285 that produce 8000W of power (at 48V).

Where do I start to analyse the problem? The Tank Level sensor and Ultrasonic Sensors are voltage based. They require power to the sensor. The Pressure level models and the Ultrsonic units are 10-30V. This means they require the positive voltage and the negative wire connected to the battery negative. The output signal is also voltage.

Pine-Sol recommended use is to dilute their concentrate by adding 2 oz. in 1 gallon of water. The suggested tank cleaning solution is just 1/2 oz. per gallon above that, and that dilution then gets added to the volume of the black tank. Doesn't seem to be overly concerning. __________________.

And the fresh water sensor is mounted to the side of the fresh water tank where the fill hose is, open your cabinet panel on the inside of the fresh water fill (inside your AS) and there should be the water pump and a small space that gives access the the fresh water tank fittings and sensor.
