The Friend Safari is a location in your Secret Base where Trainers can catch Pokémon that can not normally be found in their journeys.

In the game

Once the player has entered Metchi Town , they are able to purchase a secret base and thus access the Friend Safari. A secret entrance to your secret base is located behind the bookcases in every Pokémon Center (2nd floor in Pokémalls). Players are able to go online and enter a friend's username to visit their base.

All Pokémon that appear in the Friend Safari are level 12-18. All Friend Safaris have three Pokémon that may be captured. Only Pokémon from the first "slot" will be available until the trainer has six Gym Badges, at which point two "slots" are available. The third and final "slot" is unlocked after receiving the eighth badge.

All three Pokémon are of the same type, determined randomly when the base is purchased. However, there are some cases such as Bidoof being spawned in a Water-type Safari, due to its evolved form being a Water-type Pokémon. This is the same for Poliwhirl , Corphish , Swablu , Seadra , Skrelp , Seel , Prinplup , Bunnelby , Pancham , Karrablast , Cacnea , Nosepass , and Pineco being spawned in a Safari where their evolved form has a new type which is the same type as the Safari.

It is possible for Woobat to spawn in both slots 1 and 2 for a Flying-type Safari.

There are some differences in the Pokémon encountered in the Friend Safari as opposed to the official games. Pokémon found here have a 5/4096 [or 1/819~] chance of being Shiny without a shiny charm, or a 7/4096 [1/585~] chance with a shiny charm. These Pokémon also are not guaranteed to have at least two IVs of 31 nor do they hold any items. Pokémon encountered here have a chance of 1/5 of having their Hidden Ability .

Choosing Type Option.

The Friend Safari  is an area in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y where you can encounter Pokémon not native to the region, Pokémon exclusive to the other version, evolved (not fully) versions of the Kalos starters and Pokémon that are otherwise rare. To get it the player must have at least one friend registered in the Friend List of the 3DS. The Friend Safari Building is located in the top right corner of Kiloude City, which is accessible only post Elite Four and after the player speaks to Professor Sycamore at Lumiose City's Train Station.

New Features [ ]

Unlike the previous games' Safari Zones , the amount of available Friend Safaris rely on the amount of friend codes the player has registered to their 3DS.

There is no time limit or limit to the amount of steps you can take in the zone.

Each friend the player adds has different Pokémon themed to their safari (i.e. a person with Fire-type Safari will have only Fire Pokémon) and they enter their own safari. In order to discover what your own Friend Safari type is and what Pokémon lie within, you must utilize another player aid and have them enter your safari after sharing friend codes.

Every friend code registered in the 3DS will have a safari regardless of whether that friend owns X or Y or not. Those who don't play will only have two Pokémon in their corresponding Safari and Hidden Abilities will not be available. A friend safari will only appear in-game when both players have added the other's friend codes.

In order to unlock the 3rd Pokémon and a chance for each available Pokémon in that Friend Safari to have its Hidden Ability, two players who have shared Friend Codes must have beaten the Elite 4 and be online at the same time at least once in X or Y. After you have seen your friend's avatar in-game while going online via PSS, all 3 slots will be unlocked and Hidden Ability Pokémon can appear in that friend's safari whenever you enter.

The Pokémon that players will find in each safari varies accordingly, but the type of the Pokémon found will always stick to the typing of the Safari. Note: 2nd evolutions of starter Pokémon can be found.

Friend Safari

The friend safari in Pokemon X and Y brings back the popular Pokemon Safari concept originally introduced in generation one, but with a twist. Unlike previous installments of the safari, the friend safari is based upon adding friends to your Nintendo 3DS friend list to gain access to explorable areas and Pokemon to catch.

Each friend you have, you get an area to explore for Pokemon. The type of Pokemon found in each area if the friend safari is also randomly determined for each friend in your list. There will be a friend safari for each Pokemon type and then for each type there will be a random selection of 3 Pokemon,meaning you will need friends of each type multiple times to get access to all of the Pokemon in the friend safari

Pokemon X Safari

The Pokemon found in the friend safari are all found at level 30 and can be battled to be caught instead of just allowing bait and rocks to be thrown at them. They may also have special/rare traits to them, making them great additions to your team. Version exclusiveness also does not apply when in the friend safari .

The friend safari is also a great place to begin your IV training for competitive battling. The Pokemon captured in the friend safari each have at least 2 perfect IVs, making them excellent for breeding.

The following are the Pokemon that you can capture in their respective friend safari zonez. The 3rd Pokemon of each type group cannot be accessed until the friend that you obtained the friend safari zone from has beaten the Pokemon league.

Pokemon X and Y: How to Find Pokemon on a Friend Safari

You’ll discover plenty of things to do while exploring Kiloude City, one of the more popular destinations in Pokemon X and Y .  We already covered the exciting Battle Maison . Now it’s time to go on a Friend Safari, where you’ll have opportunities to capture Pokemon you would otherwise have to trade with other players or transfer from previous games to obtain. 

To go on a Friend Safari in Pokemon X and Y, you must select from registered players on your friend list. In fact, you stand to gain even more Pokemon if the chosen friend currently plays X or Y.  In addition, you’ll unlock a different Friend Safari for each registered friend code. Naturally, the more Safaris you access, the more Pokemon you’ll collect. 

To capture Pokemon during a Friend Safari, head outside and run through the tall grass. Pokemon you discover will correspond to the Safari type you chose. For instance, opting to go on an Ice Safari means finding Cloyster, Delibird and Sneasel, among others, while a Fire Safari may result in capturing Charmeleon, Larvesta or Magmar, to name a few. 

Friend Safari Tips  

• Pokemon captured during a Safari may possess hidden abilities.
• Normally you find two Pokemon on a Safari, but if the person registered entered the Hall of Fame, you’ll get three. 
• After going on a Safari, talk to the Judge in Kiloude City to reveal their potential. 

Here’s the complete list of Pokemon, by Safari type, that you can find. Pokemon with * after their names are ones you would only be able to get from a Pokemon Professor or via trades.

Pokemon X and Y: Friend Safari Basics/Tips Guide

Go to the Friend Safari so you can catch them all faster than ever before! Read our guide to learn how.

One of the interesting, and possibly misunderstood, additions to Pokemon X and Y is the highly social Friend Safari. The successor to Safari Zone is inherently social, but in a completely different way from smartphone games like Candy Crush Saga. The quantity of your Pokemon playing friends is not as important as their quality, or to better put it, their skill level. An early heads up, you have to finish the main game before trying this out.

After you defeat the Elite Four, you can go to Lumiose’s train station, where Professor Sycamore is waiting with a Rail Ticket to Kiloude City. At the left of the city is a house with a red roof, also pictured below. This is Friend Safari.

In Friend Safari, you can visit safaris your fellow Pokemon playing friends have made and registered. You will be able to catch three Pokemon there. Two of them are Level 30 Pokemon, and are frequently console exclusive. The third Pokemon is one of those only available in Friend Safari.

Awesome, right? But to make use of Friend Safari, you’ll need to have friends in real life, who have also finished Pokemon X and Y I mean.

Let me lay out the steps to ensure you can get a 3 rd Pokemon:

1.     When you find a fellow Pokemon player who will work with you, enter their Friend Code into your Friends List, from the 3DS Home screen. Your Friendship status should  change from Provisional to either Online or Offline.

2.     Next, you both need to have beat the Elite Four and received access to the Friend Safari.

3.     Finally, make sure your wireless is on and turn on Internet in game. If everything has gone without a hitch, you will be able to get 3 Pokemon from the Friend Safari.

Now, here are some tips to make the most out of Friend Safari:

·         Use a Pokemon with Trace as the leader. This way, you can check if the Pokemon you come across already has their Primary Ability, Secondary Ability, or Hidden Ability.

·         Give your leader the Smoke Ball, so that it can easily escape from hairy situations.

·         If you’re looking for Dittos for breeding, use Pokemon with Sturdy Ability as leaders. Sturdy will bring Dittos  down to as much as 1 HP. These Pokemon should not have any damage dealing moves. Bergmite is ideal. When the Ditto transforms it, you can easily swap it out and hit the Ditto hard. To improve your chances of catching it, try paralyzing or putting it to sleep as well.

Friend Safari Thread

Hi I’m Lesss, an avid fan of this game, I often find myself shiny hunting these days, and since we don’t really have a big list of available friend safaris, I started to make one.

I am compiling/ proof-checking all the safaris I can find in our previous reddit page, our wiki. and some list made by previous players, i want to ask you to help me with this project by adding your safari ID’s on this thread (doesn’t matter if you only have 2 slots of pokemons available since I will check them 1 by 1,)

After I’m done with the list I will share it here. It might take a while but I hope you can help me.

IMPORTANT Make sure your base is UPLOADED first.

Kiloude City

Kiloude City (Japanese: キナンシティ Kinan City ) is a city located in the southern part of the Kalos region and is only accessible after the TMV Pass is obtained from Professor Sycamore in Lumiose Station after entering the Hall of Fame .

After participating in a battle in the Battle Maison , Calem / Serena will battle the player daily in the north of the city.

It can frequently be found raining here.

Battle Maison

The Battle Maison is Kalos 's battle facility , in which the player can take part in Single Battles, Double Battles , Triple Battles , Rotation Battles , and Multi Battles . Progressing far enough through each will result in a battle against one of the Maison's Battle Chatelaines .

Stats judge

Right in the Pokémon Center of the city, there is a stats judge , who will read the Individual values (IVs) of a selected Pokémon and determine the range of values which the IVs fall under.

In Malamar Traps , Blaine was revealed to have been found by the Battle Chatelaine sisters after he had been injured in the ultimate weapon 's blast and brought to recover at the Battle Maison in Kiloude City.

• Kiloude City is the only city in Kalos without a Gym.
• A woman in the house east of the Pokémon Center mentions she is preparing a Cinnabarian hamburger steak, which is also mentioned to be the player's mother 's specialty in the Johto -based games .
• A Team Flare Grunt can be found in a house near the northwestern corner of the city, living with a Punk Girl . He will tell the player of what happened to Team Flare after their defeat.
• Kiloude City is the only city or town in Kalos that has not been featured in the anime .
