Rosarito, Mexico is less than an hour from the United States, but feels like another world away. From the gently lapping waves to the seriously explosive sunsets as seen from the Malecon (sea wall), from the wildlife to the spas, Rosarito is truly a laid-back destination, with things to do for everyone.

Of course, most travelers are drawn to Rosarito for the beaches, some of the best on the Baja California Peninsula . Once upon a time it was a getaway for the Hollywood elite, who traveled down to the shoreline, which was used for movie sets. Later, it became a hideaway for those evading Prohibition.

Today, it's a sunny coastal community that draws travelers with an affinity for extreme sports like surfing, ATVing, jet skiing, and diving. It's a thriving artistic community , as well, with galleries that sell everything from clothing and leather to blankets and jewelry. Plus, it's a haven for migrating wildlife , including whales, seabirds, reptiles, and more.

Rosarito has been a surfer's paradise for decades, so you can imagine how wonderful the beaches are. Still today, thousands of surfers per year descend on the local beaches searching for the perfect wave.

Rosarito Beach was once reserved for Hollywood film sets, but today, the shoreline is a thriving hub for locals and vacationers soaking up the rays, splashing in the warm water, exercising, or snacking on seriously good fish tacos.

Rosarito experts know that renting an ATV is one of the favorite things to do when it comes to exploring the beach. South of the pier is a sweeping stretch of sand where riders can cruise. Just outside of town are undulating sand dunes perched over the ocean, which are perfect for thrill seekers and more experienced riders.

Quite a few hotel and resort options line the shore, as well, so you can pick prime real estate for beach access and unparalleled views. By night, the beaches come alive with evening activity, so if you're a night owl, this is where you're going to want to be.

With excellent surf, plenty of mountains, and lots of wide-open space, it's no wonder Rosarito is a haven for outdoor adventure and extreme sports. Long stretches of beach breaks mean Rosarito is ideal for surfers of all levels.

Keep in mind, expert surfers will want to stick to the south end of the bay, while gentler waves break on the northern end. Experts say the best surf seems to be near the pier.

If you prefer wheels over waves, Rosarito has top spots for motocross and ATV rides . About 20 minutes south of Rosarito is the town of Primo Tapia , where undulating dunes set the tone for mile after mile of 4WD paradise.

Rosarito Canyon , another nature spot just outside the city, has dirt roads that web out in every direction, perfect for dirt biking . South of the Hotel Rosarito Pier is another large swath of open sand, where you can rent motorcycles and cruise the shoreline.

Other less intense outdoor activities include kayaking or jet skiing , and equipment for both of these is easily rented from shops around the beach.

Several hiking trails wind their way up into the hills behind the beach, as well. One of the most popular is the Cerro El Coronel , which has a panoramic view overlooking the coast below.

Just 20 minutes out of Rosarito is the seaside town of Puerto Nuevo. A phenomenal dining destination that overlooks the Pacific coast, Puerto Nuevo is an excellent day trip or evening trip from Rosarito, if you're looking for a change of scenery. With more than 40 restaurants, Puerto Nuevo is certainly a foodie's paradise.

Not only that, it's a great escape for a bit of pampering, as well. You're going to want to visit Spa Ventana al Mar, which is one of the best spas in Baja , known for its massages, facials, and various pools.

The town is small — seriously small. It has less than 200 residents. Surfers will also have plenty to do in Puerto Nuevo, as the waves are always sounding off and are great for the more experienced surfers. Note: Lifeguards are not on duty, so this is only recommended for surfers who have been in the game for a while.

The breathtaking scenery combined with a quirky clientele is the perfect combination for creating a rising arts scene in Rosarito. The small seaside city is bursting with art galleries and furniture stores. From iron sculptures to galleries and workshops, it's easy to take a piece of Rosarito home with you.

The Local Artisan Market has dozens of shops featuring local arts and crafts. Meander the narrow corridors to discover clothing, leather, Talavera pottery, blankets, jewelry, and more.

In Plaza Pabellón , you will find clothing, restaurants, and coffee. And don't forget the furniture. Rosarito is home to carpenters, iron artists, and sculptors, who have showrooms packed with handmade furniture. If you'd like something custom made, they can certainly arrange for that, as well.

Visit Polo's Gallery , which is a must-see in Rosarito. It has been open for more than two decades and houses works from more than 15 Baja artists. At La Iguana , metal is welded to form beds, chairs, patio furniture, doors, and lamps.

Looming just offshore from the Rosarito coastline are four largely barren, and rugged, islands. About seven miles offshore, these mesmerizing landmasses are more than just isolated rocks out to sea. Los Coronados, as they are called, comprise a natural paradise for snorkelers, scuba divers , fishermen, nature enthusiasts, and adventurers.

No visitors are actually permitted on the islands, as a way to preserve the wildlife, but throughout their history, the islands have played their part, whether being an alleged hideout of pirates or a stop for rum runners during Prohibition.

The islands are a prime spot for local fishermen, and as such attract divers and snorkelers thanks to the clear blue water. Ten species of reptiles and amphibians live here, as well as pelicans, sea ducks, and more. It's even possible to spot a whale or two during the right season .

Even if you don't make it out here, they are still a sight to behold from shore, as their colors seem to morph throughout the day as the sun moves across the sky.

Sleep in the halls of history when you book a stay at the Rosarito Beach Hotel . Not only a legend among Hollywood elite, this hotel is one of the very first locations that put Rosarito on the map.

Since 1924, it has been an iconic hideaway , and it continues to be one of the best, if not the premiere, hotel in Rosarito. It was incredibly popular in the 1920s among the glitterati looking to evade U.S. Prohibition. Its impressive guest list has included names like Kirk Douglas, John Wayne, Frank Sinatra, Rita Hayworth, Marilyn Monroe, and Lana Turner.

Today, the beach hotel has three separate buildings: Coronado, Playas, and Pacifico. Each building has its own pool and Jacuzzi, creating mini hotels within the larger hotel, and each tower has its own particular vibe. There are 500 rooms to choose from.

Even if you're not booking a room, this is still a spot to stop and admire, and drink in a very important sip of Rosarito's past.

Rosarito has long been associated with Hollywood glitz and glam, having been used as a film set for decades and also a hideaway for celebrities looking to skirt Prohibition. But did you know that there is actually a film studio here?

Baja Studios was built for Twentieth Century Fox's Titanic back in the 1990s, and today is a self-contained production facility with some of the largest stages, scenery shops, dressing rooms, and filming tanks in the world. It spans more than 46 acres, with more than 3,000 feet of oceanfront for filming.

In addition to Titanic , the studio's rap sheet includes Tomorrow Never Dies , Deep Blue Sea , Master and Commander: The Far Side of The World , and more. It's known as having the world's largest stages and water tanks for filming.

Though the studio had a few quiet years when northern Baja was having tumultuous times, the rise of Amazon, HBO, and Netflix has revived the studio.

Just 10 minutes south of downtown Rosarito is the small fishing village of Popotla, a must for anyone visiting this part of Mexico. Seafood abounds, so if you have a taste for fresh fish, this will be like a homecoming — especially if you're dining beachside overlooking the water.

While many of the coastal communities are giving way to touristic development, purists will love that the vibe of Popotla is decidedly authentic, laid-back, and local.

Popotla was put on the mainstream map (sort of) when Titanic was filmed just down the way at Baja Studios. Still, the crowds stayed at bay. It wasn't until a visit from Anthony Bourdain that word started to really get out.

Today, it remains ever sleepy, with the only visitors being people who thrive from venturing off the beaten path.

The Baja peninsula is one of the best places to visit for scuba divers , and Rosarito is no exception.

If you're not diving Los Coronados, you may want to check out the Underwater Park , most notably, the sunken ship Uribe 121 . The Underwater Park is an ongoing project, which will include a ship cemetery with four wrecks, a tribute to the Titanic , an underwater Atlantis, and a sculpture garden.

Right now, Uribe 121 is the only ship below the water's surface. It was sunk in 2011 after a fire damaged the Command Bridge, Bridge Roof Deck, Battery room, cabins, and more. She was beyond return to service.

Today, the ship is a dive site for expert divers to explore. Tour companies like Rosarito Ocean Sports take diving tours out to the site. Note: You must be certified as an Advanced Open Water Diver. The full-day tour includes lunch.

Chances are if you've come to Rosarito then you are looking to relax and quietly soak up some sunshine. But if you're already in this part of the world, it may be worth the trip up to Tijuana, which is just a half an hour away on the U.S. border.

Tijuana is the town that put the Baja peninsula on the map. Though it suffers from the reputation of a tawdry past, today the city has undergone a cultural renaissance, fueled by experimental chefs, local artists , and people with a passion for bringing the real Mexico back to Tijuana.

Tuck into an original Caesar salad, wander the streets and marvel at the brilliantly painted murals, listen to mariachi in the Santa Cecilia Plaza, or venture off to the Foodgarden to try some experimental cooking from next-level chefs. Whichever you choose, Tijuana is certainly a must-see city and a perfect day trip from Rosarito.

It's hard to miss this Rosarito icon. The Christ of the Sacred Heart statue stands at a towering 75 feet, looming with open arms overlooking the Pacific beaches. This statue is one of the top attractions of all of Rosarito and can actually be seen from miles away.

But if it's not enough to simply gaze at the statue in the distance, it is actually possible to physically visit the Christ of the Sacred Heart. Free for all, visitors enter from the road at Km 44 at Villa de San Pedro. From here, take the first right and then left onto San Antonio de Padua to San Marcos.

The road is paved the entire way up, and at the top, visitors are greeted with an amazing view of both the statue, and the beaches below.

Perched on a hillside and veined with walking trails, Parque Metropolitano is a beautiful spot to take in some views while in Rosarito. The park is not on the beach, which makes for a different kind of landscape, and has plenty of things for families to do.

Kids will love the playgrounds , while adults can spend time wandering the hiking trails . The park is also equipped with plenty of tables or spots to sprawl out on a picnic blanket.

Without a doubt, the best place to visit in the park is at the top of the hill, which has views in every direction over the entire town.

Luxury & Mid-Range Hotels :

• Most of Rosarito's lodging options fall into the mid-range bracket. There are no 5-star resorts here and just one 4-star property, Las Rocas Resort & Spa . It offers a mix of rooms and suites, including family rooms. These are a bit dated, and some still feature flowery bedspreads, but they are tidy and have lovely wooden beamed ceilings and private balconies. Right on the ocean, there is a pool facing the sea, a hot tub, restaurant, and on-site spa.
• Right on the beach the Rosarito Beach Hotel is a 3-star hotel that is family friendly. The rooms and suites have wood furnishings and some have balconies with ocean views. There is a restaurant on-site, as well as a large free-form swimming pool and multiple hot tubs. If you are in need of a massage, facial, or body wrap head to the full-service spa.
• Located halfway between Rosarito and Ensenada, right on the beach, Poco Cielo is a good-value bed and breakfast. The hotel has just nine rooms, and each one has a different theme and decor. All are comfortable and incorporate bright colors and rich textures. There is an on-site restaurant and cantina. The hotel is also pet friendly if you are traveling with a dog.

Budget Hotels :

• In the Reforma neighborhood, City Express Rosarito is a decent budget choice that is also close to the town's Baja California Convention Center. The property is family friendly, and the rooms have kitchenettes. Amenities include a swimming pool, fitness room, and a business center.
• Del Mar Inn is another budget option. It features 86 basic rooms and two suites and is within walking distance of the beach. The property is family friendly. There is a swimming pool, hot tub, restaurant, and private parking on-site.

Scuba Diving

If you want to get fully acquainted with the local marine life, a scuba diving tour is the way to go. You may find some local dive shops offering classes and certifications for beginners (a new skill makes for the ultimate souvenir!) but experienced divers will also have their pick of intriguing undersea landmarks to explore. Drawing divers from all over the world, some of Baja’s best dive sites are located off the coast of the city, like the Sugarloaf Rock, and Rosarito Underwater Park (also known as Uribe 121) with a thriving artificial reef and shipwreck. 

On Dry Land

Want to get some cheap thrills in the mountainside or do a little bit of sightseeing on the outskirts of the city? Rosarito has plenty of dry land adventures to round out your itinerary. 

The desert mountains lying just beyond Rosarito’s city line make up the perfect playground for extreme motorsports . After being transported halfway up the mountains to an area with stellar views, you’ll hop on board a motorbike or ATV and zip through the dust for a little over an hour. After the excursion is complete, the tour guides will bring you to a local hotspot for tacos and micheladas!

Hiking El Coronel

Hiking up to the summit of El Coronel is basically a right of passage for Rosarito-bound backpackers, as the highest peak in the area, towering some 2400 feet above the city. The main trek up the mountainside is difficult but only takes about two and a half hours. For a longer journey, consider this combo trail that winds up the other two major peaks in the area, Picachito, and Piloncillo after reaching El Coronel, which made our list of the top hikes in Baja. 

The Christ of the Sacred Heart Statue

This iconic statue stands high in the sky 75 feet tall. About six miles outside of Rosarito, this landmark is free to visit and offers spectacular views of the ocean and the town of El Morro below. You can see Christ’s likeness for miles around, but it’s worth viewing this attraction from above and below, even if you’re not a Christian. 

If a horseback riding tour has some appeal, but you’d rather take it to a whole new level, consider taking one of Rasarito’s famous camel ride tours. After mounting your trusty steed, you’ll take a 3-mile, 2-hour scenic route through the desert. You’ll have the choice of destination, (the mountains near Puerto Salina or the Canyon de Rosarito) both of which promise striking panoramic views of Rosarito’s landscape , from mountain to sea and everything in between. You’ll even have the opportunity to feed the camels a carrot and take photos with your new furry friend. 

Looking for a slow-paced, all-day adventure? A Rosarito-Ensenada bike ride will take about 5 hours along the scenic route and it’s a truly remarkable feat. With all those celebrities in town for video shoots, they had to be on set *somewhere* right? That’s right, in addition to filming on location, top actors would head to Baja Studios on the daily. Guided tours are only available at certain times of the year now that the studios are in use again for filming. If you can get in, it will be an experience you will never forget, but it’s worth a drive-by and a picture at the gates even if tours are on a temporary hiatus. 

Casa Playa Spa

If you could use a bit of pampering, you’ve got to check out Casa Playa Spa. Dating back to the ‘30s (as part of the Rosarito Beach Hotel), a visit to this tranquil, historic business will leave you feeling like the rich and famous. Your visit will automatically include access to a sauna, jacuzzi, steam room, and tea service., and then you can add a la carte services from the spa menu. From massages and body wraps to facials and hydrotherapy aroma baths, the options for relaxation are endless.

If you find yourself wandering around downtown, you might be wondering which areas/attractions you should have on your radar. We’d recommend exploring the area at your own pace, but here are a few activities you can target along the way.

Rosarito Art

Rosarito is an incredible destination for art lovers, and there are several ways to enjoy its creative, colorful vibe. For a more curated museum experience, you can take yourself on a tour of the Art Route of Rosarito , which connects 11 amazing galleries showcasing the works of prolific Mexican and global artists. 

To find some local artisan’s handiwork to bring home, you’ll want to head to the markets. There are several to choose from, but Plaza Pabellón is a great choice, packed to the brim with pottery, leatherwork, jewelry, textiles, and more. 

Finally, Rosarito has an incredibly vibrant street art scene. Many of the murals will be easy to find just by wandering through the streets, but you could also book a guided walking tour if you want to visit some of the more niche paintings and installations.

The colorful block letters spelling out the name of whichever top Mexican destination you’re in have become the iconic snapshot that documents your travels around the country. Located at the corner just outside of the Rosarito Beach Hotel, this is the postcard-perfect photo every vacation photo album needs. 

Rosarito Fish Market

Want to chow down on fresh seafood from your oceanside villa? Stop by one of Rosarito’s fish markets and grab some tuna, mahi mahi, or other local species to prepare back at the house. There are plenty to choose from, but Las Playa’s Pescaderia is a fan-favorite when it comes to daily catches and ocean-to-table cuisine.

Traditional Candy Shop

Do you have a sweet tooth? If so, you’ll want to check out a traditional candy store (or Dulceria) while you’re in the city. Dulceria Ayala is the most-loved shop in Rosarito with tons of candies, spices, pinatas, and liquors, but you’ll also find some pop-up dulcerias/candy vendors by the beach.

Papas and Beer Nightclub

When comparing your nightlife options, Papas and Beer is the one club you don’t want to miss out on. Located right on the beach, this bar spans an entire block and boasts seven bars, dance floors, a pool party area, beach volleyball, sun decks, and a giant stage for popular, headlining artists. The fun isn’t limited to after dark either! This “nightlife” venue’s motto is “Party all day and night long just steps to the beach.”

Wine and Dine Yourself

Without a doubt, one of the top things to do throughout Baja is to sample the local cuisine, and Rosarito has no shortage of incredible restaurants to sample from. With a super rustic, vineyard-inspired atmosphere and some delicious Mexican cuisine, we can’t recommend a visit to El Nido enough. You might even get to watch them make fresh tortillas in the open fire pits!

Nearby Destinations

Rosarito is an incredible city but with so many other wanderlust-inducing destinations so close, you’d be doing yourself a favor by road-tripping to at least one of them during your stay. 

With amazing food, culture, and nightlife, Tijuana is Baja’s famous border city with so many things to do. It certainly gives Rosarito a run for its money, so why not explore both?

The drive from Tijuana to Rosarito takes between 30 and 35 minutes depending on which route you take. Both routes are fairly scenic, with one taking you through the desert valleys and the other taking you along the coastline. Be sure to pay attention to traffic signs and advisories as some routes include roads with restricted access.

Popotla Fishing Village

Just 12 minutes south of Rosarito, this sleepy little coastal town boasts a laid-back atmosphere and the freshest seafood around. If you want to spend a quiet afternoon enjoying the simple things in life, go barter with fishermen at the Popotla fish market or post up in the sand at a local-approved seafood shack for the best lunch of your entire holiday.

Los Coronados

Welcome to Rosarito’s version of the Galapagos island . This collection of tiny, rugged islands is a natural paradise, with thousands of species gracing their rocky shorelines and shoals. You aren’t allowed to step foot on the islands themselves thanks to their nature reserve status, but boating around the perimeter is a great way to observe the local wildlife, from seabirds and deep ocean fish to giant reptiles and sea lion colonies. A brand new Rosarito event, This wine festival ( July 22nd, 2023 ) is the first of its kind, though it is slated to be an annual event moving forward. Is Rosarito a good destination to visit with kids?

Rosarito can be family-friendly, but it’s certainly not a destination that’s geared toward travelers with little ones. You’ll find many tours (ATV, fishing, horseback riding, ziplining, etc.) will allow older children, but that’s the extent of it.

There’s also a significant “party vibe” to the city, with tons of nightlife and 20-something spring breakers around, so you’ll want to keep that in mind if you plan to spend lots of time in public spaces like the beach. 

Is Rosarito Mexico safe?

After Ensenada, Rosarito is considered one of the safest cities in Baja – especially in the high-tourist traffic areas. Since nightlife is a big part of the tourism scene here, you might be particularly concerned about safety after dark. You’ll want to follow basic safety practices like going out in groups, not leaving drinks unattended, saying no to drugs, and avoiding isolated areas, but clubbing in Rosarito is also considered relatively safe for young adults.

How long does it take to drive from San Diego to Rosarito?

Part of the reason so many visitors travel from San Diego to Rosarito is that the drive only takes about 45 minutes. Please note, however, that this estimate DOES NOT include any potential wait time at the border, which could take anywhere from 20 minutes to one hour.

Remember that you will need lots of documentation ready to go if you are crossing the border by land with your own vehicle. Not only will being prepared ensure that you do get into the country, but it can also significantly decrease the amount of time it takes for you to pass through. As a quick summary, you’ll need the following:

When is the best time to visit Rosarito Mexico?

If you’re coming to Rosarito for the beaches and watersports, you’ll want to target a trip between July and October when the sea is warm and the days are hot. But, if you plan to take a mixed approach to your itinerary and spend lots of time on dry land, following the general recommendation for the Baja Peninsula, and traveling between December and April will be much more comfortable. 

Is Rosarito an expensive destination?

Like many top Mexican cities, the cost of your vacation will vary drastically based on your preferences and standards. 

Hotels typically range from $60 USD per night- $200. Vacation rentals have a high per-night rate but sleep more travelers, keeping the cost-per-person lower. Most restaurants in town are moderately priced, and street food is always an option if you’re on a budget. 

To help keep travel costs down, you should plan your trip for the off-season. The Baja region is considered a “year-round” destination meaning the weather is always good, but there are ebbs and flows in tourism based on other factors. January-June is when Rosarito’s crowds thin out and rates drop.

The proximity to Tijuana, whose capital is separated by only 20 km, integrates Rosarito into the Tijuana metropolitan area.

The coastal city of Ensenada is also very close, about 88 km south of Rosarito.

In contrast, the closest international city is San Diego , an hour away by car, not including the time required for border-crossing formalities .

Where is Rosarito Mexico?

Rosarito beach is just south of Tijuana. To get there, you can fly into Tijuana International Airport (TIJ) and take a taxi or drive to Rosarito, approximately 30 minutes away.

Renting a car is a good option since it allows you to move around and explore other sites at your own pace.

Alternatively, you can also take a bus from Tijuana to Rosarito, which is a convenient and affordable option.

What is Rosarito’s Weather like?

Rosarito is a city of warm summers and cool winters, with an annual average temperature of 17 °C.

The warmest month of the year is August, when the temperature averages 25 °C, with daytime peaks rarely exceeding 30 °C.

In September, the temperature drops to 16°C in the fall and 11°C in January, the coolest month.

There are nighttime cold spells that can approach 5°C.

Rosarito receives only 219 mm of rainfall annually, with the lowest precipitation between November and April.

The hike takes approximately 6 hours round trip.

Eat the best lobster in Puerto Nuevo, near Rosarito

Puerto Nuevo is a fishing community located south of Rosarito, which became famous after contributing to the regional gastronomy of one of its star dishes: Puerto Nuevo-style lobster .

This recipe started in the humble kitchens of the fishing village when the fishers would arrive with their load of lobsters, and the women would cook them split in half, fried in lard, and bathed in a molcajete sauce of golden bird’s beak tree chiles, accompanied by beans and tortillas.

The recipe is a classic; thousands go to Puerto Nuevo to enjoy fresh lobster. If you go to Rosarito, you can’t miss having lunch here.

Visit Popotla’s seafood market

This picturesque fishing village is 10 minutes south of Rosarito, at km 32.8 of the Tijuana – Ensenada Highway.

It is frequented by people who want to acquire the freshest fish and seafood, practically still jumping on the fishing boats.

In Popotla, you can buy at excellent prices all fish species from the Mexican Pacific and shrimp, lobster, octopus, clams, oysters, crabs, sea urchins, and other marine life delicacies.

In front of the beach, informal restaurants serve them, including the peculiar Martian crab , a crustacean with long claws that can only be found in Popotla.

Rosarito Mexico: Calafia

In the municipality of Playas de Rosarito is the village of Calafia , both historic and modern.

The hill in front of Calafia was the geographic point of reference used in 1773 by Fray Francisco Palou to divide the territories of the Franciscan and Dominican missions, the first division between Old and New California.

Calafia was a mythical black warrior of great beauty who reigned in the current territory of the Baja California Peninsula when it was still believed to be an island.

The town has the well-known Hotel Calafia , bars, restaurants, stores, and other tourist services.

In the Plaza de las Misiones you can admire the replicas of the facades of 12 missions of the old Camino Real.

There is also a cultural institution founded in 1996 that operates within the facilities of the Hotel Calafia.

It promotes cultural and community activities linked to history, art, and local traditions.

In its 5 thousand square meters of extension, it has the Reina Calafia Exhibition Hall, the El Descanso Amphitheater, the Mision del Mar Auditorium, the Jaime Escutia Serrano Library, and other spaces.

This film site ( Baja Studios ) , with which Fox produced the famous movie Titanic , is close to Rosarito.

Visit the Rosarito Beach Museum

This small museum near Rosarito Beach, Mexico, is an excellent place with only two rooms, which can be visited for free in a few minutes.

It is in front of a park where musical shows are presented, and a large altar is installed on the Day of the Dead .

A miniature city in the museum recreates the staging of some episodes of famous movies filmed in Rosarito, such as Titanic and Capital of Land and Sea.

Near the park, there are some exercise stations overlooking the sea.

The Wa-Kuatay Museum

The word “wa-kuatay” means “big house of the big chief” in Kumiai, the language spoken by the small ethnic group of the same name that lives in Baja California, and Southern California, United States.

The Wa-Kuatay Museum, located at 18 Benito Juarez Boulevard, is integrated into the Rosarito Beach Hotel complex, whose original building was constructed at the beginning of the last century.

The museum exhibit has been on display since 1995 in a more modern space and is dedicated to the history and prehistory of the region.

Among the pieces on display are a mammoth tusk , objects from the Kumiai culture, and documents from the era of the large ranches in Rosarito.

As I mentioned earlier, the Puerto Nuevo-style Lobster tradition started in the 1950s. The traditional accompaniments are ice-cold beer and wines from the Baja California Peninsula.

Another local culinary specialty is the zarandeado fish .

A good piece of white meat is roasted directly over the grill, wrapped in banana leaves and steamed clams, whose simple cooking allows you to appreciate all the authentic flavor enclosed in this delicious mollusk.

Best places to eat and hang out

• At Mi Casa Supper Club Restaurant , they serve Mexican, Moroccan, Mediterranean, and international food, with tasty seasoning in a cozy atmosphere
• The best burger in Rosarito is prepared at Betty’s Authentic American Burgers , and there are also great reviews of their sandwiches, especially the pastrami sandwich
• Tapanco serves Mexican dishes and juicy “churrasco” steak and is highly praised for its fresh tortillas and molcajete sauces
• Baja Calypso has a privileged view of the ocean and good reviews for its shrimp omelet with lobster sauce
