CUSTOMIZED JUST FOR US We knew a Caribbean cruise would be an amazing vacation, but this truly exceeded our expectations. Traveling with a son with special needs, we were really concerned about accessibility, but we were taken care of from the moment we landed in Miami throughout our entire cruise. The attention to detail was incredible, our agent really thought of absolutely everything so we never had to worry about a thing. Being able to relax and seeing our son smile was worth every penny.

A BANG FOR OUR BUCK If you’ve never used an agent before, I HIGHLY recommend starting now. We actually SAVED money and because our agent has VIP status with the cruise line, we ended up being upgraded to a suite on the opposite side of the ship so we had amazing views of the coast every single time we pulled into port. We should have been using an agent long ago. After sipping our coffee in our pajamas watching the sun rise over the Mediterranean from our veranda, we will never go back to booking on our own ever again.

CRUISING SPAIN, FRANCE, ITALY & GREECE My husband and I really wanted to do a Mediterranean cruise for our honeymoon, but we really had no idea where to start and researching options was so overwhelming. We had never used an agent before, but we will never go back to trying to plan our own vacations after this. Our agent knew the perfect cruise right away. She arranged a three-day tour in Barcelona before we departed on our cruise and it couldn’t have been more perfect. From sending us all our documents in advance to staff knowing our names as soon as we showed up, our agent made it all so easy.

—Christine B.

BUCKET LIST AFRICAN SAFARI I can’t recommend our agent enough!! We just returned from a two-week safari in Africa. We visited three countries with ten different stops like Masai Mara National Reserve, Serengeti National Park and more. Considering all the planning that went into this trip for transfers and accommodations in each stop, our agent didn’t just pull it off, she made it a bucket list trip we will never forget. We couldn’t have done this without her and will definitely be using her again. We can’t wait to start planning our next trip!

DREAM WEDDING IN MEXICO I’ve always wanted to have a destination wedding, but I never thought it would be possible. Our agent made that dream a reality and we got married on a picturesque secluded beach in Riviera Maya with enough of our budget left over to plan a separate honeymoon. I was SO impressed with everything she did. Not only did our agent get a special rate for our family members to stay at the same resort, she also surprised us with a special sunset catamaran cruise as a wedding gift and even sent little gifts for the bridal party! All the personal touches made it really special.

When it comes to air travel, timing is everything. From the moment you decide to embark on your journey to the decision on departure times to the second you secure your ticket, timing plays a pivotal role in shaping your travel experience. We’d like to take some time today to focus on the latter.

If you’re a regular traveler, chances are you’ve heard the myth that the day you choose to book your flight can play a crucial role in how much the ticket costs, even if the flight isn’t set to depart for a month. It sounds a little odd, but it turns out that it might not be such a tall tale.

We collected airfare costs from Google Flights for 10 of the busiest domestic flight routes over 4 weeks to determine if the day you book a flight impacts how much it will cost. We analyzed over 44,000 flights and got insight into day-of-week costs for 8 popular U.S. airlines. If you want to save a few bucks the next time you book a flight, buckle up because we have some data to share.

Across every flight we analyzed, the average cost of a one-way economy class plane ticket was $225.21. But that price can swing depending on the day of the week you choose to actually book the flight. Let’s look at the data day by day.

Waiting until the end of the week to finally press the purchase button will cost you more than if you pulled the trigger earlier in the week.

Saturday emerged as the most expensive day of the week to book a flight , with an average ticket cost of $241.61 , followed by Friday, which experienced the second-most expensive cost at $238.47 . Waiting until the end-of-week rush to finalize flight plans comes at a premium.

This surge in pricing doesn’t seem to affect every day of the weekend, as the average cost of a flight on Sunday is $224.66 , much closer to the overall average.

As we move towards midweek, prices continue to level out a bit. Booking a flight on Wednesday will cost an average of $222.76 , while a Thursday booking averages $222.21 . Both are just a few dollars short of the overall average.

For travelers looking to score the best possible deal, booking a flight early in the week would be your best bet. Mondays and Tuesdays experience the lowest prices of any day in our study. On Mondays, you can expect to pay an average of $213.44; on Tuesdays, the cheapest day to book a flight, that number drops just slightly to $213.31 .

Looks like your friend who has sworn for years that the day you book a flight does have an impact on cost wasn’t so loony after all. Next, we’ll uncover more secrets to smarter booking decisions by exploring the cheapest and most expensive days to book flights with major U.S. airlines.

The Best Day of the Week To Book a Flight by Airline

An illustrated line chart showing the cost of booking a flight every day of the week using major U.S. airlines

Whether you’re loyal to 1 airline or are just on the hunt for the best possible deal, our airline flight cost analysis can inform your trip planning so you have some extra cash to spend when you arrive at your destination.

American Airlines Aviators:

With an average flight cost of $279 across American Airlines flights in our study, the airline presents a pretty consistent cost pattern. Thursday emerges as the most expensive day to book, with tickets averaging $285.60. Putting off your purchase by just 24 hours could save you about $14 as the Friday average dips to $271.85, the second-cheapest day for American Airlines flights.

Delta Air Lines Dynamos:

In an interesting contrast to American, Delta Air Lines experiences a reverse relationship between Thursday and Friday bookings. Opting to purchase on a Thursday could yield significant savings, with an average cost of $181.05 compared to the $216.67 you could expect to pay on a Friday.

JetBlue Jetsetters and Spirit Stans:

If you plan to book with JetBlue Airways or Spirit Airlines , you’ll want to do it as early in the week as possible as Monday and Tuesday are when their tickets are cheapest, on average. If you wait until the weekend, you can expect to foot the bill for some surge pricing. On JetBlue flights, the average price from Monday to Friday jumps $50(!). On Spirit, the increase is slightly less substantial, but booking on a Saturday instead of a Monday would cost you around $30 extra.

Users of United Airlines:

Not all airlines follow the same exact trend. For United Airlines , the fluctuations are a bit different. While United’s prices peak on Thursday ($299.47) and Friday ($298.36) like most other airlines, an interesting anomaly arises with Tuesday bookings, which also exhibit higher-than-average costs of $296.64. Conversely, Sunday ($281.66), Monday ($283.63), and Wednesday ($284.22) are the most cost-effective days when booking a flight with United.

American Airlines boasts the most consistent pricing in our study across every day of the week. The range between its most expensive (Monday) and least expensive (Sunday) booking day is just $14.67. United Airlines follows close behind with a range of $17.81.

Frontier Airlines and Spirit Airlines also have fairly tight ranges, with the gap between their cheapest and most expensive days of the week being just shy of $30. Users of Alaska Airlines and Delta Air Lines can expect slightly higher price discrepancies. Their price ranges come in at $35.76 and $36.28, respectively.

Two airlines that stand out above the rest regarding pricing surges depending on the day of the week. JetBlue Airways flights experience a range of nearly $60 between its most and least affordable days, while Hawaiian Airlines blows the rest of the airlines out of the water with a staggering range of $100.38.

One thing to note is that our Hawaiian Airlines data only reflects flights from Honolulu to Maui. So, if you find yourself on that flight path, make sure to book your flight on a Monday or Tuesday!

To determine the most expensive days of the week to book a flight, we pulled Google Flights airfare cost data for 10 of the busiest U.S. domestic flight routes from OAG every day for 4 weeks. Costs in the study are based on one-way economy flight options for each flight route. Using this method, our analysis takes into account over 44,000 flights.

All flight costs reflect booking a flight 3 to 4 weeks in advance on the same day of the week to remove any time-based bias from the data. For example, the flight data collected for the week of March 25th was for flights set to depart on May 19th. All data collected followed that same pattern.

To calculate the average cost of a plane ticket by day of the week, we averaged all flight costs for that day. We then did this for the 8 airlines listed and the 10 flight paths we used as the basis for the study.

Southwest Airlines was excluded from the study because their flight data is not published on Google Flights.

While the flight prices we’ve explored change day by day, one thing remains constant: the importance of informed decision-making in travel booking. As prices continue to rise, savvy travelers will be looking to save where they can. We hope our dissection of price variations helps you identify the optimal booking window for whichever airline you choose to use. May your bookings be seamless and your experiences unforgettable. Listen Carefully. After using Neal's company to book our trips in the past, we went instead with a neighbor this year who works at Century Travel, and ended up -running back- to Neal to fix our reservations to Hawaii. He did so kindly. Neal is -fast-, courteous, and understand the needs, standards and budget of his clients. Speed is key when trying to book flights. The guy we left dragged his feet, and ticket costs skyrocketed by 1k for first class. If you're a frequent flier like me (Platinum on Delta) here's the value added to using Neal. -the headache of booking, and getting best rooms etc, is his. -at MOST, you pay the same amount as if you booked the trip yourself, but you get more in upgrades, room selection, perks, and of course personalized service. -on anniversaries, he's had everything from chocolates to champagne waiting in the room. We learned the hard way. Use Neal.

My parents referred Neal to my fiance and I when booking our honeymoon, and we couldn't be happier with their referral. When planning a wedding, not everything goes perfectly and this includes the honeymoon. We recently discovered, without notice or warning, that American Airlines had cancelled our flight out of Grenada to Miami. If it wouldn't have been for Neal and his attention to detail, we could have been stuck between a rock and a hard place with limited return options. Since Neal caught the mishap early, he was able to use his expertise to find alternate options and now we will be staying an extra night in Grenada at the same resort for FREE (as well as a resort credit) while carrying over our prearranged travel plans to the following day. We have never met Neal face to face because of our location differences (he's in Atlanta and we reside in Cincinnati) but his professionalism allows him to set up the perfect vacation for all of his customers no matter where they are located. I would highly recommend working with Neal no matter where you reside or what type of travel you are planning if you want it done perfectly. If we would have gone with one of the travel sites, there is not a doubt in my mind that we would have been out of luck with due to the airline's mishap. My fiance and I thank you Neal and we look forward to experiencing our wonderful honeymoon in Grenada!

Welcome to Global Adventures Travel

Cindy Miller, owner of Global Adventures Travel LLC, grew up in Des Moines, Iowa and graduated cum laude from Drake University with a degree in International Relations. Her love of travel began as a kid when her parents dragged her across the country on countless great American road trips. A self-described homebody, she has ventured as far as Iceland, Japan, Morocco, New Zealand, and Belize, thus putting her definition of “homebody” in question. In addition to travel she loves adventure (hence the moniker attached to her business) and relishes the opportunity to venture off the beaten path and try something new. Occasionally, that includes kayaking fjords, hiking lava tubes, and something as ill-advised as throwing herself out of a perfectly good airplane. In the last year, she has traveled to Mexico, Britain, France, Italy, Spain, and Portugal.

Biden to travel to North Carolina to meet with families of officers killed in deadly shooting

Police in North Carolina say a shootout that killed four law enforcement officers and wounded four others began as officers approached a home to serve a warrant for a felon wanted for possessing a firearm.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — President Joe Biden is expected to travel to North Carolina on Thursday to meet with the family members of four officers killed earlier this week in the deadliest attack on U.S. law enforcement since 2016.

The president is scheduled to visit Wilmington across the state that day and is planning to add a stop in Charlotte to meet with local officials and the families of officers shot Monday while serving a warrant, according to a person familiar with the matter.

The four officers were killed when a task force made up of officers from different agencies arrived in the residential neighborhood in the city of 900,000 to try to capture 39-year-old Terry Clark Hughes Jr. on warrants for possession of a firearm by an ex-felon and fleeing to elude in Lincoln County, North Carolina. Hughes was also killed.

Four other officers were wounded in the shootout, and an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle, a 40-caliber handgun and ammunition were found at the scene. Those killed were identified as Sam Poloche and William Elliott of the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections; Charlotte-Mecklenburg Officer Joshua Eyer; and Deputy U.S. Marshal Thomas Weeks.

After the attack, Biden expressed his condolences and support for the community, calling the slain officers “heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice, rushing into harm’s way to protect us.”

“We must do more to protect our law enforcement officers. That means funding them – so they have the resources they need to do their jobs and keep us safe. And it means taking additional action to combat the scourge of gun violence. Now,” Biden said in a statement, calling on leaders in Congress to pass a ban on assault weapons, among other gun control measures.

Outside the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department’s North Tryon Division on Wednesday, Eyer’s patrol car was draped with an American flag and covered with flower bouquets from community members who stopped to pay their respects.

The department called the vehicle a “solemn tribute” and “visible reminder of Officer Eyer’s sacrifice and service,” in a post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. Eyer’s memorial service is scheduled for Friday at a Charlotte Baptist church.

Also on Wednesday, a local police chief said that an officer from his force who was shot Monday underwent surgery and is expected to make a full recovery. David W. Onley, the police chief of Statesville in the Charlotte metropolitan area, expressed condolences Wednesday and “unwavering solidarity with our law enforcement brethren during this difficult time,” according to a statement released by his office.

One of the four officers injured in the attack was Cpl. Casey Hoover of the Statesville Police Department, who served on the task force. He was shot in his upper torso — an area unprotected by his bulletproof vest.

Hoover was taken by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department to a Charlotte hospital, where he underwent surgery. Onley said the officer, who has worked for the Statesville police for eight years, is now stable and is expected to make a full recovery and “exemplifies the bravery and resilience of our law enforcement community.”

Law enforcement officers were still investigating Wednesday, attempting to determine a precise timeline of events and whether Hughes acted alone or with a second shooter.

Hughes’ criminal record in North Carolina goes back more than a decade. It includes prison time and convictions for breaking and entering, reckless driving, eluding arrest and illegally possessing a gun as a former felon, according to state records.

The attack was the deadliest day for U.S. law enforcement in one incident since five officers were killed by a sniper during a protest in Dallas in 2016.

G uatemala City, Guatemala - US top diplomat Antony Blinken will travel to Guatemala this week for regional talks on migration , the State Department said Sunday.

Washington has been wooing the Central American nation's new administration as a partner on migration, with presidents Joe Biden and Bernardo Arevalo meeting in March. That visit also saw the announcement of $170 million in US aid.

The month before, Guatemala also agreed to three-way cooperation with the United States and Mexico on migration.

On Tuesday, Blinken will lead the US delegation gathering in Guatemala for the regional meeting of the 2022 Los Angeles Declaration on Migration and Protection, State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller said.

The hemisphere-wide framework for cooperation on migration was reached during a summit in the California metropolis led by Biden in 2022.

"Secretary Blinken will underscore our advances over the past two years and look ahead to next joint steps to bolster humane migration management and robust enforcement, lawful pathways and access to protection, and increasing refugee and migrant integration in the Americas," Miller said in a statement.

Blinken is also set to meet with Arevalo, as well as other regional leaders, Miller said.

Migration becomes a top issue as Biden-Trump rematch looms

Tuesday's migration talks come as record numbers of migrants have been seeking to enter the United States, largely from Central America and Venezuela, as they flee poverty, violence, and disasters exacerbated by climate change as well as decades of US intervention and destabilization .

Nearly 130,000 Guatemalans crossed the US-Mexico border without documentation from October to February, according to the US Border Patrol.

Immigration and border policy has emerged as a top political issue as Biden eyes a rematch with former president Donald Trump in the November elections.

Trump has spouted racist vitriol against migrants and pledged the biggest-ever deportation program if he returns to the White House. Meanwhile, Biden had to apologize for referring to migrants as "illegals" during his March State of the Union address. The Democratic president has also threatened to shut down the border , which advocates warn will lead to further human rights abuses.

Arevalo took office in January, following unsuccessful attempts by Guatemala's political establishment to block the inauguration of the underdog anti-corruption campaigner.

The United States – as well as the European Union, Latin American countries, and international organizations including the UN – repeatedly spoke out against moves to bar Arevalo from assuming office and hailed his anti-corruption platform.

Henry Miller Quotes About Travel

Standart top banner.

The aim of life is to live, and to live means to be aware, joyously, drunkenly, serenely, divinely aware.

One's destination is never a place but rather a new way of looking at things.

If we are always arriving and departing, it is also true that we are eternally anchored. One's destination is never a place but rather a new way of looking at things.

When spring comes to Paris the humblest mortal alive must feel that he dwells in paradise.

For a metaphysical treat stop at the Big Sur Inn, which is also a haven for stray cats and dogs. Life along the South Coast is just a bed of roses, with a few thorns and nettles interspersed.

Sagittarius Horoscope for May 2024

Nov 22 - Dec 21

miller travel

Monthly News from Susan Miller

Dear Reader,

May will be a beautiful month. I have been telling friends that in May it will be raining diamonds! It just sparkles brilliantly. Ever since January, many of the planets have been traveling in same-sign groups. By clustering together, the planets are able to make a single, clear statement that will show you where the goodness lies and where you should focus your energies in order to be able to access their gifts.

In May, five planets will be in Taurus, so wherever you have Taurus in your chart, that’s where your attention will be drawn.

There are many beautiful aspects in May. In my report for you, I will show you examples of how best to use these sparkling aspects.

Your May 2024 Horoscope for Sagittarius

Friends are telling you about their exciting upcoming trips, but you can’t help feeling a little twinge of jealousy. Business is brisk, and there is no way you can leave town now, for your clients and team need you. Besides, if you do leave, details are likely to fall between the cracks and only create more work for when you return.

Set your sights on planning to go on vacation on or after August 4, the new moon in your distant travel sector. Even though Mercury will be retrograde throughout August, it will be fine to travel. You’ll be happily swimming in turquoise waters or hiking in the thickly verdant woods, while back at the office, nothing earth-shattering will be happening. It will be a good time to kick back and relax.

After spending a year in your work-a-day assignment (sixth) house, Jupiter is getting ready to leave Taurus this month and head to another sign, and the little planets decided to give Jupiter a festive send off. The party kicks off when the gracious new moon arrives on May 7 with her partner the Sun, both in Taurus at 18 degrees. In the new moon’s entourage will be Venus, who is mistress of ceremonies, for she organized the party and is in charge. She invited Uranus, the planet that brings surprises, and the guest of honor, Jupiter, the planet of good fortune. It is one of the sweetest, happiest new moons of the year.

Jupiter likely brought you plenty of business over the past 12 months, and if you had to hire help to complete all the orders, Jupiter also helped you find qualified workers. You may have had a new or upgraded workplace, possibly with new equipment (like new computers, software, or other tools) so that you could get your work done with ease.

About the author

J. p. (janice) miller.

Growing up in Asheville, North Carolina JP’s weekdays were filled with school and sports. Her weekends with church. In between, she loved to read. She had an unrelenting thirst for books about African American people and culture, but few were to be found in the 1960s and 70s. Back then she was drawn to books that were packed with adventure. Preferably short. After retiring from the U. S. Forest Service in 2015, she dedicated her life to writing stories of African Diaspora in Children’s literature. Now she writes the type of stories she would have enjoyed as a child. Short, exciting, and filled with rich African American culture.
