Taking your first trip with your dude is undoubtedly one of the biggest relationship milestones you can experience. Your wanderlust is guaranteed to skyrocket as the warm weather winds down, so it's the perfect time to strike out together as a team and figure out if you've got what it takes to last. I think this is a nice goal, but to be honest, we will have a lot of work to get our passport full.

I completely agree with this travel quote. Kris and I have already made many beautiful trips to eg Korea , Borneo , India and much more.

And despite the fact that these are beautiful destinations, it is always more special to share this together with Kris.

After all, we have always made the most special memories together and without his presence, those trips would be less special.

I think, as someone who is addicted to traveling, that this is really a romantic quote.  This is one of the most romantic things someone can say to me.

We like nothing more than to wander through small streets and supposedly get lost. This is how we usually discover the nicest spots.

Some people say that taking a vacation is the best way to get to know each other. And just as I agree with this quote, I think they are right.

When you’re going on a journey together, and certainly when you go to a somewhat adventurous destination, you can sometimes face surprises. 

Discover things about each other that you didn’t know yet and didn’t expect.  Some positives and some negatives.

With your loved ones you will manage to see through some of the annoyances but we’re sometimes reluctant to go on a trip with our friends because we’re afraid it would cause trouble in our friendship. 

Then again, your trips with your friends can also bring you closer together.

Vacations cost money and you should be sure that you get to enjoy them. 

That’s why I agree with this travel quote and I only take my loved ones and best friends with whom I’m sure I will have a good time.

Sometimes, even when we’re on a holiday, we tend to impose a schedule on ourselves.  It’s almost as if we are at work.  An hour to visit the first site, 20 minutes to rush to the next, a quick picture, and on to the next sight.

Yet it feels so good letting go of time and plans!

We both really enjoy just heading to a neighborhood and wandering around, holding hands, like a romantic couple just watching daily life.

I think this is certainly a romantic idea for a bucket list. Although we have traveled already a lot an visited many amazing places such as the Azores , Lisbon , Rajasthan, and Kerala in India , Borneo , Korea , Japan and much more.

Unfortunately, there are far too many countries and places in the world and it is absolutely impossible to do them all in one lifetime.

So as it usually goes in life, we should make choices. I certainly want to discover the Azores , Hawaii, Iceland, Namibia, The Philippines and so on.

And there are so many beautiful places to discover. I do not know how it is for you but for every destination that we can scratch off our bucket list, we add at least 2 new destinations.

This quote could definitely be used for me as a marriage proposal. I would certainly say yes if the right person asks me to marry him with these words. 

Marriage is a lifelong journey in itself, with ups and downs.  The journeys we did together only brought us closer together.

We have been married now for several years.  Kris didn’t ask me with these exact romantic words but I said yes anyway. 😍

I do not fully agree with this quote. No matter how much I love to travel, always living from my suitcase is nothing for me. I am always happy to go back home after a trip.

This is true in a way.  We do prepare our trips quite extensively and always have a very good idea about what we’re going to do,  but we still need to change our plans sometimes.

Because of some of the hiccups we have encountered we met interesting people we would not otherwise have met and we discovered beautiful places that we would not have known existed.

Karen Read murder trial: Dashcam emerges from night of police officer boyfriend's death

Karen read allegedly killed her boston boyfriend police officer john o'keefe in january 2022, but she denied the accusations and claimed she was framed in an elaborate cover-up.

Dashcam video shown in court during day three of Karen Read 's murder trial was the public's first glimpse of the night Boston police officer John O'Keefe was killed, but the footage was obscured by heavy snowfall and police flashlights against the pitch-black night sky.

The video is about three minutes long and was initially played in a quiet courtroom, with no comment or questions from the prosecution or defense . 

Then the lawyers sparred during first responders' testimony, where they gave conflicting accounts of what they heard. They described a "frantic" and "distraught" woman yelling, but what she actually said isn't clear.

One first responder testified that she had yelled, "I hit him, I hit him, oh my God I hit him ." Another testified, "He's dead. He's f---ing dead." A third said a woman had yelled, "Is he alive?"

The blurry dashcam clearly showed a commotion in front of the police vehicle, and first responders moving a gurney with O'Keefe's body to an ambulance. 

But first responders had difficulty even distinguishing themselves in the footage from Jan. 29, 2022, outside of Boston police officer Brian Albert's home in Canton, Massachusetts , a Boston suburb. 

That's when O'Keefe was found dead in four to six inches of snow in a T-shirt and missing a shoe.

Read was charged with O'Keefe's murder . Prosecutors alleged she backed over her boyfriend, O'Keefe, with her Lexus SUV during an alcohol-fueled fight. 

Read pleaded not guilty to all charges, and her defense team claimed she was framed in an elaborate cover-up to protect the Albert family, an influential family with ties to law enforcement, first responders and prosecutors in the area.

Two Canton first responders, Fire Lt. Anthony Flematti and firefighter Kaite McLaughlin, testified that they had heard Read incriminate herself by repeatedly saying, "I hit him."

During cross-examination, Flematti seemingly walked back his original comments. 

Read's high-powered attorney, Alan Jackson, asked him if he heard that phrase "in any context either to the police or to the grand jury before today?"

"I don’t recall," Flematti responded.

Canton Fire Lt. Francis Walsh said he had heard a distraught woman yelling, "He's dead. He's f---ing dead."

Read's lawyer specifically asked Walsh whether it was "easy for you to discern that her words were, 'He's dead. He's f---ing dead'?" Walsh responded, "Correct."

He also testified that he heard a woman yell, "Is he alive?"

"I think they were all over the map, weren’t they?" one of Read's lawyers, David Yanetti, said about the testimonies heard Thursday. "Everybody had a different version of what was said, and I think much of it was unreliable."

After the trial's fiery opening statements , which included several stunning accusations from the defense, jurors heard testimony from the first responders, as well as O'Keefe's family. 

On Friday, jurors visited the crime scene, as testimony continued.

Warren Buffett saw an AI deepfake video of him that was so good he says he could imagine it tricking him into sending money overseas

Warren Buffett cautioned the tens of thousands of shareholders who packed an arena for  his annual meeting  that artificial intelligence scams could become “ the growth industry of all time .”

Doubling down on his cautionary words from  last year , Buffett told the throngs he recently came face to face with the downside of AI. And it looked and sounded just like him. Someone made a fake video of Buffett, apparently convincing enough that the so-called Oracle of Omaha himself said he could imagine it tricking him into sending money overseas.

The billionaire investing guru predicted scammers will seize on the technology, and may do more harm with it than society can wring good.

“As someone who doesn’t understand a damn thing about it, it has enormous potential for good and enormous potential for harm and I just don’t know how that plays out,” he said.

Earnings before musings

The day started early Saturday with Berkshire Hathaway  announcing a steep drop in earnings  as the paper value of its investments plummeted and it pared its Apple holdings . The company reported a $12.7 billion profit, or $8,825 per Class A share, in first the quarter, down 64% from $35.5 billion, or $24,377 per A share a year ago.

But Buffett encourages investors to pay more attention to the conglomerate’s operating earnings from the companies it actually owns. Those jumped 39% to $11.222 billion, or $7,796.47 per Class A share, led by insurance companies’ performance.

None of it that got in the way of the fun.

Throngs flooded the arena to buy up Squishmallows of Buffett and former Vice Chairman Charlie Munger, who died last fall. The event attracts investors from all over the world and is unlike any other company meeting. Those attending for the first time are driven by an urgency to get here while the 93-year-old Buffett is still alive.

“This is one of the best events in the world to learn about investing. To learn from the gods of the industry,” said Akshay Bhansali, who spent the better part of two days traveling from India to Omaha.

A notable absence

Devotees come from all over the world to vacuum up tidbits of wisdom from Buffett, who famously dubbed the meeting ‘Woodstock for Capitalists.’

But a key ingredient was missing this year: It was the first meeting since Munger  died .

The meeting opened with a video tribute highlighting some of his best known quotes, including classic lines like “If people weren’t so often wrong, we wouldn’t be so rich.” The video also featured skits the investors made with Hollywood stars over the years, including a “Desperate Housewives” spoof where one of the women introduced Munger as her boyfriend and another in which actress Jaimie Lee Curtis swooned over him.

As the video ended, the arena erupted in a prolonged standing ovation honoring Munger, whom Buffett called “the architect of Berkshire Hathaway.”

Buffett said Munger remained curious about the world up until the end of his life at 99, hosting dinner parties, meeting with people and holding regular Zoom calls.

“Like his hero Ben Franklin, Charlie wanted to understand everything,” Buffett said.

For decades, Munger and Buffett functioned as a classic comedy duo, with Buffett offering lengthy setups to Munger’s witty one-liners. He once referred to unproven internet companies as “turds.”

Together, the pair transformed Berkshire from a floundering textile mill into a massive conglomerate made up of a variety of interests, from insurance companies such as Geico to BNSF railroad to several major utilities and an assortment of other companies.

Munger often summed up the key to Berkshire’s success as “trying to be consistently not stupid, instead of trying to be very intelligent.” He and Buffett also were known for sticking to businesses they understood well.

“Warren always did at least 80% of the talking. But Charlie was a great foil,” said Stansberry Research analyst Whitney Tilson, who was looking forward to his 27th consecutive meeting.

Next gen leaders

Munger’s absence, however, created space for shareholders to get to know better the two executives who directly oversee Berkshire’s companies: Ajit Jain, who manages the insurance units; and Abel, who handles everything else and has been named Buffett’s successor. The two shared the main stage with Buffett this year.

The first time Buffett kicked a question to Abel, he mistakenly said “Charlie?” Abel shrugged off the mistake and dove into the challenges utilities face from the increased risk of wildfires and some regulators’ reluctance to let them collect a reasonable profit.

Morningstar analyst Greggory Warren said he believes Abel spoke up more Saturday and let shareholders see some of the brilliance  Berkshire executives  talk about.

Abel offered a twist on Munger’s classic “I have nothing to add” line by often starting his answers Saturday by saying “The only thing I would add.”

“Greg’s a rock star,” said Chris Bloomstran, president of Semper Augustus Investments Group. “The bench is deep. He won’t have the same humor at the meeting. But I think we all come here to get a reminder every year to be rational.”

A look to the future

Buffett has made clear that Abel will be Berkshire’s next CEO, but he said Saturday that he had changed his opinion on how the company’s investment portfolio should be handled. He had previously said it would fall to two investment managers who handle small chunks of the portfolio now. On Saturday, Buffett endorsed Abel for the gig, as well as overseeing the operating businesses and any acquisitions.

“He understands businesses extremely well. and if you understand businesses, you understand common stocks,” Buffett said. Ultimately, it will be up to the board to decide, but the billionaire said he might come back and haunt them if they try to do it differently.

Overall, Buffett said Berkshire’s system of having all the noninsurance companies report to Abel and the insurers report to Jain is working well. He himself hardly gets any calls from managers anymore because they get more guidance from Abel and Jain.

“This place would work extremely well the next day if something happened to me,” Buffett said.

Nevertheless, the best applause line of the day was Buffett’s closing remark: “I not only hope that you come next year but I hope that I come next year.”
