The exhibit officially opens today, April 5 th , in the Warner Bros. Studio Tour Welcome Center. From animation, superheroes, iconic television shows, memorable costumes, blockbuster hits, and more, the exhibit will showcase 100 years of storytelling and welcome guests to walk through a photographic exploration of where it all began.  The Welcome center is open to the public, where they can explore this new exhibit, shop at our WB Studio Store, and enjoy Starbucks at our very own café.  Limited same-day tickets are available for those wishing to embark on a deep dive into the studio history who have not purchased a tour in advance.

The original Warner Bros. Tour Department was established in 1973, the same year The Exorcist , Cleopatra Jones , and Enter The Dragon were released.  At that time, the department consisted of seven employees who answered the phone, operated the cash register, and performed guided tours for about 50 guests daily.  Over the years, the tour has been seen in the following productions: Blazing Saddles , Looney Tunes: Back in Action , Gossip Girl , Space Jam: A New Legacy , Teen Titans Go to The Movies , Entourage , Animaniacs , The Rookie , Grease LIVE , Famous in Love , Ellen, and more .

Now, in 2023, 50 years since opening its doors to the general public, Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood has undergone significant enhancements.  Featuring its own state-of-the-art Welcome Center, four different tour experiences for guests to choose from, exclusive merchandise only available at the WB Studio Store and Friends Boutique, as well as several interactive exhibits that take guests "behind the lens" of some of the world's beloved film and TV productions such as Friends , the Harry Potter franchise, Gilmore Girls , The Music Man , Casablanca , The Big Bang Theory , Gremlins , Argo , DC and The West Wing . "It is such a joy to be able to share our rich history of storytelling with fans from all over the world," said Danny Kahn , VP and General Manager, "our expert tour guides truly deliver on the promise of the Warner brothers to educate, enlighten and entertain."

Warner Bros. to Celebrate 100 Years of Movie Music

March 9, 2023, 3:55 PM · Warner Bros. will continue its 100th anniversary celebration with a special chamber music concert of the studio's greatest hits - on its historic studio lot.

"Candlelight: 100 Years of Warner Bros." will hold two performances on April 6 in the Steven J. Ross Theater on the Warner Bros. Studio lot in Burbank. The Orchid Quartet will perform 17 works from Warner Bros. films and television shows, from "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" from "The Wizard of Oz" to "Shallow" from 2918's "A Star is Born."

Candlelight Concerts brings local string quartets and other small ensembles to perform in candlelit settings in iconic locations. The 100 Years of Warner Bros. show will play in 50 other cities around the world, with local musicians performing, in addition to the performance in Burbank. Albert, Sam, Harry, and Jack Warner founded the Warner Bros. Pictures on April 4, 1923. (Apparently, 1923 was a big year for starting companies that would grow to dominate the global entertainment business.) Today, the studio lot in Burbank welcomes guests to its Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood , while Warner Bros. also operates studio attractions outside London and in Northern Ireland, with another location soon to open in Japan.

As theme park attractions reopen across Southern California, Warner Bros . announced on Tuesday that its massively revamped Studio Tour will welcome back guests on June 26.

Five years in the making, the expanded set tour utilizes a new building devoted completely to the tour center, in addition to a lot tour and a stop at the iconic Stage 48. The tour highlights the nearly 100 years of TV and movie-making at the studio, and specifically spotlights the DC Universe and Harry Potter. The tour also now welcomes families with children five years and older.

Key additions include the “Storytelling Showcase,” where guests can explore the evolution of Warner Bros.’ long history; “Action and Magic Made Here,” the new grand finale experience featuring the DC Universe and Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts series; an expanded new Warner Bros Studio Store, which will be open to the public without a Studio Tour ticket purchase.

“Entertainment is about connecting with fans and we are thrilled to welcome guests back to the tour after a more than 15-month hiatus” said Danny Kahn VP and General Manager. “Our new experiences will take guests on a journey through our history, how we bring stories to life and celebrate the DC Universe and Wizarding World.”

Upon arrival, guests enter the “Storytelling Showcase” and discover the world of Warner Bros., examining the breadth of the studio’s film, TV and animation titles, as well as the technological innovations from its cinema chain origins in 1923 through its nearly 100-year journey to become one of the biggest entertainment companies in the world. Guests can even take a selfie with a replica of the iconic water tower as they walk along an aerial view of the studio lot.

After guests tour the lot with one of Warners’ expert guides, they will arrive at Stage 48: Script to Screen, the Studio Tour’s interactive sound stage where they can experience the technology and methods of production, revel in the Central Perk set from Friends and Sheldon’s apartment set from The Big Bang Theory before dining at the lot’s Central Perk Café.

From Stage 48, guests can head to the “Action and Magic Made Here” grand finale, where they’ll get to step behind-the-scenes of Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts with all new interactive experiences, props, costumes and memorable photo opportunities.

DC fans will be able to explore the all-new Batcave, where they can get up close to the Batmobile from Tim Burton’s original Batman film, the Tumbler from The Dark Knight , and the Batwing from Batman v. Superman . Photo ops include the Lasso of Hestia from Wonder Woman 1984 , Jared Leto’s Joker and Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn costumes from Suicide Squad , Poison Ivy in front of the actual Arkham Asylum gates featured in Joel Schumacher’s Batman and Robin and more from films such as Aquaman , Superman and Zack Snyder’s Justice League .

Guests can then explore recreated sets from Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts where they can dabble in the art of potion-making, snap a photo inside Harry’s cupboard under the stairs at 4 Privet Drive or be surrounded by Hogwarts acceptance letters at the Dursleys’ fireplace, test their wand choreography skills and learn more about the magical creatures from Fantastic Beasts in Newt Scamander’s Shed of Magical Creatures.

A new Sorting Ceremony takes place in the Great Hall recreated set. The official Harry Potter Fan Club mobile app will allow fans can discover their official Hogwarts house before arriving. Visitors will hear the Sorting Hat call out their true Hogwarts house when it’s placed above their heads.

Concluding the tour is an elegant display of iconic treasures from Warner Bros. most beloved films and TV shows in the “Celebration of Awards Season.” The exhibit spotlights iconic props and costumes from the studio’s classic films, such as the trombone that Robert Preston played in The Music Man , the jersey worn by the late Chadwick Boseman to portray Jackie Robinson in 42 , and a painstakingly detailed miniature blimp from Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner .

The Welcome Center houses a brand-new Warner Bros. Studio Store that will be accessible to the general public. The studio store offers the only in-person shopping experience with exclusive merchandise from Warner Bros. films and TV shows. In the Personalization Area, fans can choose from a host of personalization options, including engraving a wand. Later this year, guests will be able to access merchandise from the studio store online.

The Studio Tour will be open on weekends, from June 26 through July 11, with the Tour also open on July 5. From July 15, the Studio Tour will operate 5 days a week and remain closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Tours will depart from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM with departures every 30 minutes. Tickets are available online for $69 for adults (ages 11 and up) and $59 for children ages 5 to 10 at wbstudiotour.com (advanced reservations will be required). Additionally, Southern California residents are eligible for a special rate of $57 on weekdays only, through September 30, 2021.

The Studio Tour follows all city, state and federal health guidelines in addition to internal mandates to ensure the health and safety of our guests, employees and production partners.

In reopening , the Warners Tour joins Universal Studios Hollywood, which unlocked its gates weeks ago. The Paramount and Sony lot tours remain closed, according to their web sites.

Turner Classic Movies has a lot going on as it celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.

On Friday, execs from the beloved cable channel unveiled a new podcast, 2024 programming initiatives, a new branded studio tour of the Warner Bros. lot in Burbank and details about the 15th annual TCM Classic Film Festival in April.

The TCM podcast The Plot Thickens is returning this year for a fifth season, with the subject yet to be disclosed.

In April, TCM will introduce a new franchise, Two for One , with prominent filmmakers co-hosting a double feature of their choice on Saturday nights. Guests will include Jenkins, Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, Paul Thomas Anderson, Spike Lee, Olivia Wilde, Gina Prince-Bythewood, Ethan Hawke, Todd Haynes and Maggie Gyllenhaal.

TCM is celebrating the 100th anniversary of Columbia Pictures this month and will do the same in April for MGM’s 100th anniversary and its own 30th anniversary, with programming to highlight the channel’s history. TCM also will premiere new film restorations, including movies that have never aired on television.

Ted Turner’s TCM bowed on April 14, 1994, with host and THR columnist Robert Osborne introducing Gone With the Wind .

In the fall, TCM will partner with The New Republic to highlight movies from the magazine’s list of “The 100 Most Significant Political Films of All Time.” Folks from the worlds of journalism, politics and film will co-host an entry on the list.

A new documentary executive produced by Scorsese about legendary filmmakers Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger ( The Red Shoes , Black Narcissus ) titled Made in London will make its U.S. television premiere on TCM this year. (It was Scorsese who introduced Powell to his future wife, Oscar-winning film editor Thelma Schoonmaker.)

There also will be cultural celebrations for Black History Month, Asian-American and Pacific Islander Month, Pride Month and Hispanic Heritage Month, and “Stars of the Month” will include Marlon Brando, Lauren Bacall, Eva Marie Saint, Debbie Reynolds, Bela Lugosi, Ruth Roman, Gregory Peck, Marilyn Monroe, Tyrone Power and Victor Mature.

In April, Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood will introduce a WB/TCM Classic Movie Tour featuring clips from TCM hosts, visits to areas not part of the regular tour (including the Property Department and Rose Garden) and TCM-branded tour carts.

The next TCM Classic Film Festival, set for April 18-21 in Hollywood , will pay tribute to actor Billy Dee Williams and Oscar-winning makeup artist Lois Burwell, and film historian Jeanine Basinger will receive the fifth Robert Osborne Award, which recognizes an individual who has helped keep the cultural heritage of classic film alive for future generations.

Films announced for the festival so far include Sherlock Jr. (1924), It Happened One Night (1934), The Mad Miss Manton (1934), White Heat (1949), On the Waterfront (1954), Rear Window (1954), The Searchers (1956), North by Northwest (1959) and Chinatown (1974).

Meanwhile, Scorsese, Spielberg and Anderson have extended their advisory agreement with TCM through the end of this year.

2023 is a year of celebration for Warner Bros as this year celebrates the 100th anniversary of Warner Bros. Studios.

For the occasion, the stage of the WB100 - Celebration tour will take place on 24 and 25 June 2023 in Piazza M. d'Olivo in Lignano Pineta.

A large Village will be set up on the square divided into areas with entertainment, guided games and a festive DJ evening dedicated to the soundtracks of Warner Bros. films and historic TV series.

WB100 Celebration Tour

Al via in Italia il tour estivo itinerante per celebrare i 100 anni degli Studios. La campagna internazionale “Celebrating Every Story” organizzata dal Gruppo Warner Bros. Discovery (Nasdaq: WBD) per celebrare i 100 anni dei Warner Bros. Studios , sbarca in Italia con un tour estivo itinerante che farà tappa nelle località balneari più frequentate dell’estate 2023.

Il WB100 CELEBRATION TOUR – che fa parte del programma di celebrazioni avviato il 4 aprile nella data ufficiale del Centenario – sarà incentrato su attività divertenti e ingaggianti rivolte ad appassionati di cinema e di serie tv, famiglie con bambini, e fan dei personaggi più iconici della storia del cinema e dell’intrattenimento.

Le attività ruoteranno intorno all’universo Warner Bros. Discovery con allestimenti di aree a tema: oltre a un palco centrale animato giorno e sera, i più piccoli potranno divertirsi nelle aree giochi predisposte con truccabimbi e mini-gare con i tipici giochi da spiaggia a tema Looney Tunes, Tom e Jerry e Scooby Doo. Ci saranno quiz a premi sui grandi capolavori Warner Bros, prove di arrampicata e discesa in corda doppia sul climbing wall di Batman, e tante altre attività aperte a adulti e bambini, come il dj set serale e la possibilità di portare a casa i propri ricordi fotografici nelle photo opportunity con personaggi e ambientazioni iconiche.

Il Tour sarà anche l’occasione per anticipare i film distribuiti da Warner Bros. Pictures in sala questa estate: il primo, in uscita il 15 giugno, sarà “ The Flash ” con Ezra Miller nei panni di Barry Allen / Flash nel primo stand alone cinematografico del Supereroe DC. A seguire sarà la volta di “ Barbie ”, l’attesissimo film diretto da Greta Gerwig con un cast stellare guidato da Margot Robbie e Ryan Gosling, nelle sale dal 20 luglio. A partire dal 3 agosto arriverà “ Shark 2 – L’abisso ”, l’avventura da brividi con protagonista Jason Statham che fa seguito al blockbuster del 2018 mentre il 17 agosto arriva “ Blue Beetle ”, il film che segna il debutto sul grande schermo del supereroe DC, diretto da Ángel Manuel Soto con protagonista Xolo Maridueña.

The Hollywood Heritage Museum is housed in the beautifully restored Lasky-DeMille Barn (c. 1895). The Museum features archival photographs from the early film days of motion picture production, movie props, historic documents, and other rare movie memorabilia. Also featured are historic photos and postcards of the streets, buildings, and residences of Hollywood during its golden era. 

All visitors will have an opportunity to experience our new exhibit, “ Meet The Stars: 100 Years of MGM Studios and the Golden Age of Hollywood ” which opens on Saturday, April 6 th . The exhibition culls from the private collections of over 20 motion picture memorabilia collectors to display artifacts of the Golden Age of Hollywood – many items unseen by the public for decades. We are excited to be celebrating the 100th anniversary of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM), the studio that made some of the most enduring motion pictures, such as 1939’s dazzling fantasy-musical, THE WIZARD OF OZ and MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS (1944), both starring Judy Garland, as well as revered silents BEN-HUR (1925) and THE BIG PARADE (1925). The exhibit is concurrent with the dates of the Turner Classic Movies Film Festival and will offer some tie-ins that correlate to the festival’s themes and programming.
