Inspiration.

A famous accident and the beginning of my relationship with wild animals: Summer of 1975, while I was sitting on the balcony of our house as a young child. Suddenly, I saw terrified elephants running quickly down Nile Street, and I don’t know why this strange scene. Then, a huge fire engulfed the balloon theater and the circus adjacent to it, which contained a variety of wild animals. The circus workers were forced to rescue the elephants, and the animal gate was opened except for… The lions were released on Nile Street and they were surrounded until they reached the Giza Zoo. It was an unforgettable scene in my life and it sparked the beginning of my relationship with wild animals.

These are standard--they give their spiel & want you to purchase from them. The jewelry shop itself seemed extremely overpriced. The guide waits at the front during these times. After the shops, you're then taken to the market. I found the market itself to be underwhelming. Mostly it's all trinkets and all the stands repeat. Our guide Marsil was very kind and knowledgeable, and our driver John was kind as well. They were lovely, however I would not repeat this tour as the market itself I found to not be great. We visited Saqqara, Memphis and the red and the white pyramid, and drove through soms country villages which were interesting to see. Ehab can answer all your questions about ancient and modern Egypt and was really helpful. We spent a fabulous day with our guide Ehab, going to the Citadel, the Egyptian Civilization museum and the Khan el khalili market. Ehab was really knowledgeable about the Citadel and mosque. He explained all the displays in the museum very clearly and in such an engaging way that even the kids were not bored. More than anything, Ehab was just so pleasant, polite and helpful. The best part of the whole day was our visit to the market, where Ehab accompanied us and showed us around. This is truly where we saw how honest and helpful he was. We never once felt pressured to go to any store or buy anything. Unlike other visits and tours we’ve taken, where the guides take you to certain stores where they get a commission, Ehab was very respectful of us and just guided us through but left us to our own devices in the stores. I could not begin to describe the level of disrespect and anger I received from this man. I booked, and paid in full, this trip to Luxor and he refused to allow me to go on the day I booked. I booked this trip months in advance on Viator, for the day that online said was in fact available. I had various excursions already booked for every other day I will be in Egypt, but he insisted I go the day he chose. I could not because of all the other tours I had already booked, but that didn't matter to him. He sent me aggressive voice memos on WhatsApp and continuously told me to cancel all other excursions and book with him. When I told him repeatedly that I wasn't able to, he became angry and more aggressive. He kept trying to force me to book more excursions with him, but I could not. He proceeded to send me 30 links to his company's tours, which I repeatedly declined. Hesham was so angry that I could not be in Luxor the day that was convenient to him that in the last minute he cancelled my excursion to Luxor. DO NOT BOOK WITH HESHAM!!!! Fantastic experience with guide Ehab and our driver Osama. We saw everything in the Pyramid area and had a lovely day! Guide Ehab allowed us enough time to roam around the area and go into the pyramid. Absolutely breathtaking, in spite of it being the second time for my husband and me. The Koshery lunch was really good and even my fussy children liked it. Very tasty Koshery, but not for the faint hearted if you’re worried about hygiene levels. The tour to the stores after was also quite relaxed and didn’t feel pressured to buy anything.
