Hailing from Orlando, Florida, USA, Trivium are a metal band that formed in 2000. They have released a handful of studio albums, and have been hailed as the biggest thrash metal band to form in the 21st century.

Trivium began with a talent show at the Lake Brantley High School in Altamonte Springs, Florida. Way back in the year 2000, one of its acts was a fourteen year old guitar player by the name of Matt Heafy, whose performance of Metallica’s “No Leaf Clover” caught the eye of Trivium’s very first singer Brad Lewter. Impressed, the vocalist asked him to try out and soon after, Heafy was an official member of the band.

The band started gigging soon afterwards and after some time, Lewter left the band, allowing Heafy to take over lead vocal duties as well as playing rhythm guitar. It was with this set up that Trivium went into the studio and recorded their debut album “Ember To Inferno”, releasing it in October 2003. The album was enough to tour with Machine Head off the back of it, who in turn, introduced them to the folks at iconic metal label Roadrunner Records.

It was their second record however, that made the band what they are today. Released on Roadrunner in March 2005, “Ascendancy” wasn’t a hit immediately but thanks to positive critical reception, word of mouth and an utterly astonishing set at the 2005 Download Festival, it went on to make their name on the world stage. Over 100,000 copies sold in the U.K alone later, it became one of the decade’s touchstone metal albums.

Since then, they have remained near the top of the metal world as one of the century’s first true success stories. The likes of "Like Light to the Flies", "Pull Harder on the Strings of Your Martyr" and "A Gunshot to the Head of Trepidation" are new metal standards that thousands of garage bands practise to this day. There really is no higher compliment than that when it comes to rock and roll. No true metal head can go wrong with a Trivium gig, highly recommended.

Live reviews

Before Trivium even walked onto the stage, haunting, dark ambient music drifted across the festival, creating a brooding atmosphere. The band walked out and were playing "Rain" within seconds.

The audience was overwhelmed with energy, thrashing everywhere, and overcome with passion. The guitar riffs were so heavy, it was actually kind of surprising. The best thing that Trivium is known for is their use of melody just as much as abrasiveness, and it creates a truly beautiful mix. When the band switches from heavy chugging to emotional, somber and ecstatic riffage, you cant help but want to start slamming your head, and letting out every built up tension you have. The audience was it's own experience.

Completely different from what you see at other shows, there are walls and walls of people flailing about everywhere, passionately yelling along with the singer. You better be prepared to be knocked on the head a few times(but don't worry. If you fall, someone will happily help you back up.).The music was beautiful, heavy, and loud. What was not to love? Every song has plenty of energy, and cool riffs. Seeing Trivium was a great experience, and I recommend them to anyone who loves heavy, passionate music.

These guys just know what they are doing, you can hear that clearly and loudly. The crowd always goes wild because this band shows exactly what the power and love of music really is. I think these guys found the perfect balance between "heavy" and "melodic" songs and that is the reason why I also think their music is very unique. And I have to talk about Matt Heafy. This guy is probably the most down-to-earth vocalist I have ever seen, he is very respectful with everyone, and also very thankful for having a career like that, you can definitely see that he actually means it. So in conclusion, I am very happy that I discovered this band and I am a huge fanboy.

Electric concert. The band's playing is almost flawless, almost album worthy and Matt's antics are always a must. He really gets the crowd going. To bad his voice was not in the best shape, which is understandable in the end of the tour. The setlist was awesome, of course it's impossible to satisfy everyone, myself being an Ascendancy and Shogun guy did miss quite a few of my favourites but the new album was the one being promoted and some great tunes came of it that it was understandable it was the star of the show. That In Waves intro with everybody sitting down and jumping in the first IN WAVEEEEEESSS was insane. AWESOME !!!!!

We saw Trivium in Berlin, in Kesselhaus in der Kulturbrauerei. Show was amazing. Sound was not great, but it was passable. Venue was terrible. The atmosphere in the place, we got in about half an hour before the show started and it was already unbearably hot. When the actual show started, things got shameful, there was no air conditioning or ventilation whatsoever, it was hot to the point that we were actually surprised nobody passed out.

It was the second time we watched a show in Kesselhaus, and sadly it once again proved to be a very bad choice of a venue. Shame.

Absolutely fantastic live performance! All three bands, Light The Torch, Avatar, and Trivium were awesome. Very unique performance by Trivium with the last minute departure of Matt, but they pulled off a wonderful performance with Howard filling in for some, Avatar filling in some, and the band pulling together to cover the rest. I hope you will all be back through our corner of Canada again, you are all lived and respected! Thanks for a wonderful night and the ringing ears and sore neck today!!!

The show was fantastic! Really know how to get the crowd along. I didn't like the tuning of the instruments though. The drums were way off compared to other instruments and completely overshadowed them. It ruined the high guitar notes and even vocals. It was clear the people of Tivoli were struggling during per-tuning, but they should have accepted the fact that the tuning required some more attention instead of continuing due to time pressure.

Hope someone will pick this up!

Trivium is an awesome band, nothing wrong with that. The thing dislike is the fact that every concert i go to nowadays hits 108DB, so basically they are way too loud. Wouldn't it be great if you didn't have to wear earplugs and that you could actually hear the beauty of the instruments and vocals.

I think you could be the first to promote this. Maybe with a small step to limit it to 100DB.

Thank you for taking the timen to read this.

Great band, this is my second time seeing them live. They always put on a great show and get the audience in touch with their performance. Their sound is great too, they were the clearest most balanced sound band of the night. These guys know how to make themselves sound clear and loud at a show. Other bands tend to be too bass heavy. Great show overall! Hopefully they'll come out with a headliner tour soon, would love to see a longer set.

It was an awesome show. Sound was spot on, the Setlist has no holes. Moshpit was pretty huge for a show in a club.

Audience was very cool. A few oldschoolers. Many young guys around 20-27 years old. A few teens.

Huge recommendation for Trivium Live. These shows are more intense than their festival shows.

Looking forward to the new album.

Great show. I owned the mosh pit. Trivium played a great set and the Roxy sounded great as always. The drinks were a little pricey (13 bucks for a little crown and coke), but that's to be expected. The venue is a little small for a mosh pit, which made the venue feel crowded or over sold if you weren't in the pit.

* BEARTOOTH only

Last summer, BEARTOOTH surprised-released a brand new single, "Riptide" . The accompanying music video saw Shomo sharing the stage with a group of interpretative dancers.

Shomo stated about the track: " 'Riptide' is about trying to start a new chapter in life and trying to stop focusing on all of the negative things that have been surrounding my life for quite some time and me focusing on being healthier, happier, and having a better time with my life."

The lyrics to "Riptide" include such lines as: "I'm done explaining my pain / This is way too much / I wanna feel euphoria / Give me the rush / Cause it's the last time that I romanticize / The riptide that's trying to drown me."

Shomo told NME that "as much as I love [2021's 'Below' album] and it was important for my life and my career, it was absolutely the most depressing and sad piece of work I've ever done. [On 'Riptide' ] I wanted to do something to get me out of that headspace. I wanted to make something really fun, that makes you happy and isn 't really fucking sad. I basically made BEARTOOTH 's version of a dance song… This is a whole new thing for Beartooth and it 's pretty wild. If I wasn't nervous, though, then I'd know this isn 't the right song for us to release. It 's really important for where BEARTOOTH is heading."

Despite the fact that "Riptide" is a BEARTOOTH version of a pop song, Shomo told NME that he is "still writing plenty of heavy shit" for the new album. "It's still going to be a rock record but I'm trying to push the boundaries as far as I can go and dive deeper into what I love about each facet of BEARTOOTH . There's no need to be scared of taking it too far."

The 30-year-old frontman, who writes, performs, records and mixes everything that goes into BEARTOOTH 's albums, elaborated on the musical direction of the band's new material in an interview with the WSOU 89.5 FM radio station, saying: "I'm trying to kind of push myself in a lot of ways, try new things that I've never tried before, try and show off different parts of my voice that I haven't used before. Yeah, it's going to be a wild ride."

With nearly two million monthly listeners on Spotify , BEARTOOTH has released four albums thus far: "Disgusting" (2014), "Aggressive" (2016), "Disease" (2018) and "Below" (2021).

The Ohio act recently released a deluxe edition of "Below" . "Below Deluxe" is expanded to include 32 tracks. For this edition, BEARTOOTH added two new bonus tracks, "Fighting Back" and "Permanently Sealed" , as well as a refreshed version of current radio single "Skin (Alternate Universe Version)" , which mixes acoustics and electrics. It also includes the full, 17-track live recordings from the "Live From The Journey Below" livestream, recorded at the historic Clyde Theatre in Fort Wayne, Indiana in July 2021. An exclusive 52-track "Special Video Edition" Apple eMix bundle includes all the official videos plus the videos from "Live From The Journey Below" .

TRIVIUM 's latest album, "In The Court Of The Dragon" , came out in October 2021 via the band's longtime label Roadrunner Records . The record was produced and mixed by Josh Wilbur and recorded in the fall of 2020 at Full Sail University in Orlando. The album cover is an original oil painting by French artist Mathieu Nozieres .

Last spring, TRIVIUM guitarist Corey Beaulieu was asked in an interview with Wisconsin's WZOR ( Razor 94.7/104.7 ) radio station if he and his bandmates had begun working on material for the follow-up to "In The Court Of The Dragon" . He responded: "No. There's always material. During our downtime, I wrote some stuff, just 'cause I needed something to do and I had a couple of riffs, and I was, like, 'Screw it. I'll just kind of start working on it.' And then there's fragments of songs or demos of songs that maybe someone… I know I have a couple of things I wrote and demoed for the last record, but when you have three people in the band writing song ideas and riffs and stuff, by the time you finish the record there's a bunch of stuff everyone's got that we never got around to. So there's always a stockpile to pick from if we need a starting point for a song. We're never short on those."

According to Beaulieu , TRIVIUM "usually" released albums at two-year intervals in the past. "We'd put out a record and then tour and then two years later [put out another one]," he said. "That's basically how our whole cycle has been for our career. At one point, I think there was three years between records, but usually it's two 'cause you do your touring and then the way it is, you just kind of keep it going. That's why we have I think six albums that have come out in October, so we're pretty consistent with the timeline of what we're doing. We just felt that since 'What The Dead Men Say' came out basically right when everything shut down and we weren't gonna tour, the whole thinking was, 'Who knows when we're gonna be able to tour?' 'Cause no one knew at that point if it was gonna be six months, a year, a year and a half, two years — it was unpredictable when bands were gonna be able to tour and do all that stuff. Do we wanna go out on tour a year or two down the line with a record that's been out for a year or two? Or when we kick off touring, get people excited with new material. So we chose that route and surprised people with another album. We had all this free time, so why just sit around and not do anything, just trying to wait it out? It's, like, we can always write — no one's stopping us from doing that — so we jumped into that."

TRIVIUM recently supported MEGADETH and LAMB OF GOD on the 2022 leg of "The Metal Tour Of The Year" .

“I’m so excited to go out on this amazing tour with metal legends Trivium,” says Beartooth frontman Caleb Shomo . “When the stars aligned and it was possible, it truly was a no-brainer. ABOUT BEARTOOTH: Beartooth, the band Forbes declared is “inching towards a tipping point of becoming the latest arena headliner,” dropped their latest anthem “RIPTIDE” in 2022 and it saw frontman Caleb Shomo put the pain of the past in the rearview mirror as he takes the steering wheel from fate to command his own destiny. The track memorializes the struggle with mental health and self-acceptance, which has defined so much of Beartooth since its inception. Shomo started this band in his basement, playing all the instruments to challenge and purge inner darkness, purely for himself at first. As the band he assembled to play the songs traveled, they discovered how many people recognized the same demons.  As KERRANG! observed, “Caleb Shomo is one of his generation’s most remarkable songwriters.” It’s a testament to the purity of intention manifested by the multi-instrumentalist from the start. Songs like “The Past is Dead,” “Fed Up,” and “In Between” have pushed BEARTOOTH past a billion streams. The band’s fourth album, Below , topped the Rock, Hard Music, and Alternative charts in 2021 and found its way into Best Rock/Metal Albums of the Year lists assembled by the likes of Revolver, Rock Sound,  Loudwire, Knotfest, and a slew of like-minded media outlets. The band also graced its first Revolver cover in Summer 2021. Beartooth’s marriage of colossally catchy choruses and post-hardcore-soaked-in- sweaty-metal is without rival. Its effect is evident by their deeply engaged audience; tours with Slipknot, Bring Me The Horizon, and A Day To Remember; and an RIAA-certified gold plaque.

ABOUT TRIVIUM: Trivium released their tenth full-length, In the Court of the Dragon , through longtime label Roadrunner Records in 2021. The record was produced and mixed by Josh Wilbur. The band has continued to receive International acclaim from The New York Times, NPR, Forbes, Billboard , KERRANG! , NME , TechCrunch, Kotaku, Alternative Press, Revolver , and more. That’s because Trivium have been steadily building a rock solid foundation. The band released its now-canonical album Ascendancy in 2005. It was recognized as K ERRANG!’ s “Album of the Year,” achieved a gold certification in the UK, and eclipsed sales of 500,000 worldwide. It ignited a string of six consecutive Top 25 debuts on the Billboard Top 200 and five straight Top 3 debuts on the Top Hard Rock Albums Chart, culminating on 2017’s benchmark The Sin And The Sentence . That album elevated the group’s total stream tally past a quarter-of-a-billion. Additionally, “Betrayer” received a GRAMMY® Award nomination in the category of “Best Metal Performance.” They followed with What the Dead Men Say  in 2020, which landed the band on several year-end “Best Of” lists. Through the years, Trivium performed alongside Metallica, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, and many others and graced the main stages of Download, Bloodstock, KNOTFEST, and more. After two decades, 10 albums, hundreds of sold out shows, and nearly a billion catalog streams on Spotify, Trivium actualize the all-encompassing ambition they first set in motion back in 1999.

TRIVIUM and BEARTOOTH announce 2023 co-headlining tour

Trivium heafy beartooth shomo split 1600x900 USE THIS ONE

Beartooth  and Trivium  come from slightly different generations and appeal to slightly different types of metal fans, which is why it's so cool that they're linking up for a co-headlining tour later this spring. The band's U.S. fanbases will be intermingling for roughly two month's worth of dates, and the headliners have tapped Archetypes Collide and Malevolence to support the journey.

The tour kicks off May 1st in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, and snakes throughout the U.S. before wrapping up in Seattle on June 15th. Neither headliner have released new albums since 2021, so we'd wager a guess that the setlists will be packed with career-spanning songs — and who knows, maybe even a new one or two.

Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. and you can see the full list of dates below.

We have been fans of what they do, and pals with them for ages — so it’s great we’re finally doing something so massive together. Trivium and Beartooth are both bands supported by each of our wonderful fan-bases — so we know these shows are going to go off. Add in Malevolence, one of our favorite bands on the planet, and Archetypes Collide, one of Beartooth’s favorites, and we have a hell of a bill.”

“I’m so excited to go out on this amazing tour with metal legends Trivium,” says Beartooth frontman  Caleb Shomo . “When the stars aligned and it was possible, it truly was a no-brainer. This tour is gonna be unique, fun, and face-melting from start to finish. Strap in, bring your metal horns, and be prepared to get your face ripped off.”

Beartooth’s marriage of colossally catchy choruses and post-hardcore-soaked-in-sweaty-metal is without rival.

Trivium announce 13-date intimate UK tour

Trivium have unveiled their upcoming Goblins And Wizards tour – which they promise to be the “best metal show to hit your town this summer”.

Trivium announce 13-date intimate UK tour

It’s shaping up to be a ridiculously busy year for Trivium ! Fresh from their incredible UK headline tour last month, not to mention recently announcing a massive co-headline run with Beartooth in the U.S. , the band have just confirmed even more shows coming up.

The metal heroes will be crossing the pond once again for what they’re calling the Goblins And Wizards Tour: 13 intimate UK shows at some lesser-visited spots, with Bleed From Within and Orbit Culture as support.

“Since the first UK headline tour in 2005 we’d made it a point to do our best to get out of the big cities and play other ones that might get overlooked or skipped,” says bassist Paolo Gregoletto. “We looked at old Maiden and Motörhead posters and let that inspire the way we routed this one.

“Bleed From Within and Orbit Culture are two of our favourite new bands and we are honoured to have them join us. This is going to be the biggest and best metal show to hit your town this summer guaranteed!”

We don’t doubt it. Tickets go on sale this Wednesday, February 15, at 10am.

The Goblins And Wizards tour dates look like this:

23 Cambridge Corn Exchange 24 Norwich UEA 25 Nottingham Rock City 26 Oxford O2 Academy 28 Stoke Victoria Hall 29 Liverpool O2 Academy 30 Sheffield O2 Academy 31 Newcastle NX

2 Edinburgh O2 Academy 3 Leeds Stylus 4 Bristol Academy 6 Folkestone Leas Cliff Hall 7 Southampton O2 Guildhall
