Make the most of your time in Edinburgh admiring one of the most emblematic feats of civil engineering on this boat tour of the bridges of the Firth of Forth .
At your selected time, make your way to Hawes Pier in South Queensferry . Here you'll board a boat ready for your tour of one of Scotland's must see areas , the Forth of Firth .
During the hour and a half long cruise, you'll get to admire one of the symbols of Scotland and an emblem of civil engineering: the Forth Bridge . This masterpiece has been an important landmark since its construction in the late 19th century, when it was the largest piece of engineering in the UK to date. We'll cruise under the impressive structure and admire its architecture as we learn all about it thanks to the recorded commentary on the boat.
Our boat tour will also take us to see the Forth Road Bridge . Open by Queen Elizabeth II in 1964, this road bridge connects the towns of South Queensferry and North Queensferry across the Forth. The third of the Forth bridges that we'll see on our cruise is the Queensferry Crossing , the tallest bridge in the United Kingdom.
At the end of our boat tour of the Forth bridges , we'll return to the original departure point.

The Forth Bridges
Three bridges spanning three centuries.
Iconic, historic and magnificent, Scotland’s Forth Bridges are a wonder of the modern world and one of Scotland's most recognisable locations.
Towering side by side over the Firth of Forth, these structures represent the pinnacle of engineering across three centuries.
The oldest of the bridges, The Forth Bridge, is now a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site of unique global significance and interest.
Bridging the historic settlements of North and South Queensferry, the bridges are set in an area that has history, beauty, wildlife and community spirit in abundance.
Slow down the pace and stay a wee while to soak up the enormity of these gargantuan structures and explore the heritage-rich local area.
You're guaranteed a warm welcome and good old-fashioned Scottish hospitality.

The inside story
Boasting six UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Forth Bridge – affectionately nicknamed ‘Our Grand Old Lady’ – is one that Scotland proudly holds under its belt. Built by Benjamin Baker and John Fowler, the bridge towers over the Firth of Forth estuary and connects the villages of South Queensferry and North Queensferry. At the time of construction in 1890 it was actually the world’s longest bridge and while it no longer holds this status – it’s one of Scotland’s greatest man-made wonders and marvel of Victorian engineering.
Rumour has its industrial appearance didn’t go down well at the time, but the bridge has become a symbol of the nation, and definitely stands out among its peers. You’ll get some great photos of the bridge from the villages, boat tours and walking trails around the area – don’t miss out on the famous Hawkes Inn where the workers stopped after shifts. There are two other bridges that’ll catch your attention, Forth Road Bridge and Queensferry Crossing Bridge.
