FAMILY-RUN MSC CRUISES SAYS “THANK YOU” TO ALL HEALTHCARE HEROES AROUND THE WORLD FOR THEIR SELFLESS AND TIRELESS CONTRIBUTION TO FIGHT THE GLOBAL PANDEMIC

Cruise line launches special global discounted cruise fares program dedicated to all frontline and back office healthcare professionals and their families

Geneva, Switzerland –August 26, 2020 - MSC Cruises today announced that it is launching a special global discounted cruise fares program applicable to the end of 2021 for all front line and back office healthcare professionals globally as a way of saying ‘thank you’ for their ongoing contribution to fight the global pandemic and let them know that when they’re ready, they can enjoy a much-deserved vacation with their loved ones.

Pierfrancesco Vago, Executive Chairman, MSC Cruises , said: “As a family-owned company we think it’s only right and proper to find a way to express our heartfelt ‘thank you’ to each and every healthcare professional of the world – as well as their families - for their selfless and tireless dedication, professionalism and bravery in tackling the current global pandemic.

“To all of them: front line and back office workers; doctors; nurses; pharmacists; those who work in research laboratories; and in fact everyone who is a health worker, at all levels.

“Their work and dedication has also helped to pave the way for our new health and safety operating protocol which was recently implemented successfully when our flagship MSC Grandiosa was the first ship from our fleet to return to welcome guests at sea in the West Mediterranean.

“For the past five months we have worked around the clock with highly qualified and internationally respected medical experts to draw up a comprehensive healthcare and safety operating protocol to protect the wellbeing of all passengers on board our ships as well as the communities we touch in the ports we call and the tourist destinations our guests visit.

“The backbone of our protocol is down to the new data, research into COVID-19 and improved understanding of the virus that worldwide healthcare professionals have established during the pandemic and we want to thank them for their selfless and tireless work.

“And what better way to do that than on a cruise vacation together with their loved ones, who have also endured much to support them during the past months and continue to do so?"

“We very much look forward to welcome them on board whenever they are ready for a much-deserved vacation. And we will also welcome their feedback to improve further our protocol as they will witness it first hand while on board.”

The special ‘thank you’ discounted cruise fare program for healthcare professionals and their immediate families will go on sale on Monday, August 31 and will be available for all MSC Cruises’ sailings of any duration through to the end of 2021. This includes all cruises departing up to December 31, 2021, when the booking is made by April 30, 2021.

These special per stateroom fares will result in a discount of up to or exceeding 50 percent off the regular rates and will be available to healthcare workers for booking from travel advisors and MSC Cruises contact centers from Monday, August 31. Additionally, the program will include a series of on-board activities to properly recognize and celebrate these special guests and their families.

MSC Cruises halted its operation in connection with the global pandemic in mid-March and resumed sailing on August 16, 2020 when MSC Grandiosa departed from the Italian port of Genoa for its first 7-night cruise with calls to Civitavecchia for Rome, Naples, Palermo in Sicily and Valletta in Malta, before returning to her homeport of Genoa.

The ship is now halfway through her next 7-night cruise along the same Western Mediterranean itinerary.

Every guest and crew member goes through a comprehensive medical screening before boarding the ship, which includes universal testing for all guests and crew as well as only protected ashore excursions at each port of call.

In the U.S., MSC Cruises will only restart operations when the time is right, following approval by the CDC and other relevant authorities across the region in observance of their requirements and guidelines.

Healthcare heroes can learn more about the discounted cruise fare program by visiting MSCCruises.com  starting August 31, 2020.

After a long two years of battling an invisible and overpowered foe, our frontline medical workers are in need of a serious break—and AmaWaterways is ready to provide one.

The award-winning river cruise line is celebrating National Nurses Week by offering complimentary sailings all around Europe to those who have taken the brunt in the fight against COVID-19. “Frontline medical heroes have been selflessly caring for others since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic over two years ago, and we want to show our continued appreciation for their heroic work,” said Kristin Karst, executive vice president and co-founder of AmaWaterways.

Frontline medical heroes are entitled to the free cruise as long as they travel with a paying guest who stays in the same stateroom. Bookings are open until June 30, 2022, for sailings leaving within the next 90 days (or one of the select dates that the company has set aside).

Each cruise will take place over seven days, and guests will be free to enjoy AmaWaterways' spacious staterooms, on-shore excursions, entertainment, and regionally-inspired meals and drinks, at no additional cost.

There are currently 46 eligible cruise dates, making stops in different cities along the Rhine, Main, Moselle, and Danube rivers.

One of the offered cruises, the Enchanted Rhine cruise, will sail on the Rhine river through France , Germany , the Netherlands , and Switzerland , taking passengers past 40 historical and impressive castles all along the river banks.

The Melodies Of The Danube cruise will carry passengers along the Danube river to Austria , Germany, Hungary, and Slovakia. They will include incredible walking tours throughout the countries' capitals— Budapest , Bratislava , and Vienna .

On the Impressions Of The Seine and Paris cruise, guests will become familiar with all of the amazing sights of France, from the more popular destinations to some hidden gems and locations made famous by renowned Impressionist painters. It will include Norman chocolate, cheese, and cider and will present passengers with the best of what France has to offer.

To take advantage of this offer, head over to AmaWaterways.com/Hero2022 , fill out the form with your work credentials, choose the sailing you're most interested in, and contact an AmaWaterways representative by phone to reserve your stateroom. 4.16 No Waiver. The failure to require performance of any provision will not affect Margaritaville at Sea’s® right to require performance at any other time after that, nor will a waiver by Margaritaville at Sea® of any breach or default of these Terms and Conditions, or any provision of these Terms and Conditions, be a waiver of any subsequent breach or default or a waiver of the provision itself.

4.17 Force Majeure. Force majeure means unusual and unforeseeable circumstances or unpredictable events beyond Margaritaville at Sea’s® control, including, but not limited to, acts of God, flood, earthquake, storm, hurricane, drought adverse weather conditions; or other natural disasters), war or warlike operations, threat of war; invasion, act of foreign enemies, hostilities (regardless of whether war is declared), civil war, rebellion, revolution, insurrection, military or usurped power or confiscation, terrorist activities (actual or threatened); riots, civil commotions or disturbances, industrial disputes, labor difficulties, whether or not carrier is a party thereto, interference by authorities, requisitioning of the ship, political disturbance, inability to secure or failure of supplies, perils of the sea, collision, allision, foundering of the ship, piracy, nuclear disasters, fire, epidemics, pandemics, public health concerns, health risks, nationalization, government sanction, no sail orders, blockage, embargo, labor dispute, strike, lockout or interruption or failure of electricity or telephone service and/or any unforeseen technical problems with the ship or other transport including changes due to rescheduling or cancellation or alteration of flights, closed or congested airports or ports; riot; civil strife; industrial dispute; technical problems or breakdown of machinery or equipment; outages or power failures; pandemics, epidemics or outbreaks of illness or any other cause whatsoever beyond the control of Margaritaville at Sea®. 5.0 BINDING ARBITRATION AGREEMENT, CLASS ACTION WAIVER, AND WAIVER OF CERTAIN RIGHTS.

YOU AND MARGARITAVILLE AT SEA® EACH AGREE THAT ANY DISPUTE OR CLAIM RELATING IN ANY WAY TO YOUR PASS WILL BE RESOLVED BY BINDING ARBITRATION, WITH THE SOLE EXCEPTION OF CLAIMS THAT QUALIFY FOR SMALL CLAIMS COURT AS SET FORTH BELOW.

YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU AND MARGARITAVILLE AT SEA® ARE EACH WAIVING THE RIGHT TO FILE A LAWSUIT AND THE RIGHT TO A JURY TRIAL. YOU AND MARGARITAVILLE AT SEA® ALSO AGREE THAT ANY AND ALL DISPUTES MUST BE BROUGHT IN THE PARTIES’ INDIVIDUAL CAPACITIES. YOU AND MARGARITAVILLE AT SEA® THEREFORE AGREE TO WAIVE ANY RIGHT TO LITIGATE OR ARBITRATE ANY CLAIMS AS A CLASS ACTION OR OTHER REPRESENTATIVE OR COLLECTIVE ACTION.

Neither you nor Margaritaville at Sea® may act as a class representative or private attorney general, nor participate as a member of a class of claimants, with respect to any Claim in any state or federal court. Claims may not be arbitrated on a class or representative basis. The arbitrator can decide only your and/or Margaritaville at Sea® individual Claims. The arbitrator may not consolidate or join the claims of other persons or parties who may be similarly situated.

THIS SECTION LIMITS CERTAIN RIGHTS, INCLUDING THE RIGHT TO MAINTAIN A COURT ACTION, THE RIGHT TO A JURY TRIAL, THE RIGHT TO PARTICIPATE IN ANY FORM OF CLASS OR REPRESENTATIVE CLAIM, THE RIGHT TO ENGAGE IN DISCOVERY EXCEPT AS PROVIDED IN AAA RULES, AND THE RIGHT TO CERTAIN REMEDIES AND FORMS OF RELIEF. OTHER RIGHTS THAT YOU OR MARGARITAVILLE AT SEA® WOULD HAVE IN COURT ALSO MAY NOT BE AVAILABLE IN ARBITRATION.

The arbitrator will have the exclusive authority to resolve any dispute relating to the formation, interpretation, applicability, or enforceability of these terms and conditions including this binding arbitration provision, including the arbitrability of any dispute and any claim that all or any part of this binding arbitration provision is void or voidable. However, if Margaritaville at Sea® believes that any claim you have filed in arbitration or in court is inconsistent with this agreement’s limitation on class and representative actions, then you agree that we may seek an order from a court determining whether your claim is within the scope of the class action waiver.

In the event of a dispute, you agree to send a notice of dispute, which is a written statement that sets forth your name, address, and contact information; the facts giving rise to the dispute and relevant documents; and the relief requested to Margaritaville at Sea® at 431 Fairway Drive, Suite 300, Deerfield Beach, FL 33441, Attention: Kevin Sheehan. Margaritaville at Sea® will send any notice of dispute to you at the contact information that they have for you. You and Margaritaville at Sea® agree to attempt to resolve the dispute through good-faith negotiation within sixty (60) days from the date the notice of dispute is sent. After that sixty (60) day period and not before, you or Margaritaville at Sea® may commence an arbitration or small-claims-court proceeding.

You or Margaritaville at Sea® may assert claims in small claims court instead of in arbitration if the claims qualify. Additionally, if the claims asserted in any request or demand for arbitration could have been brought in small claims court, then either you or Margaritaville at Sea® may elect to have the claims heard in small claims court, rather than in arbitration, at any time before the arbitrator is appointed, by notifying the other party of that election in writing. Any dispute about whether a claim qualifies for small claims court shall be resolved by that court, not by an arbitrator. In the event of any such dispute, the arbitration proceeding shall remain closed unless and until a decision by the small claims court that the claim should proceed in arbitration.

If Margaritaville at Sea® and you do not resolve a dispute by informal negotiation or in small claims court, the dispute shall be resolved by binding arbitration before a single neutral arbitrator whose decision will be final. Arbitration will be administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under the AAA’s rules, which are available at www.adr.org or by calling 1-800-788-7879. Payment of all filing, administrative and arbitrator fees and costs will be governed by the AAA’s rules. You are required to pay the AAA’s initial filing fee if you initiate the dispute, but Margaritaville at Sea® will reimburse you for this filing fee at the conclusion of the arbitration to the extent it exceeds the fee for filing a complaint in a federal or state court in your county (or parish) of residence. If the arbitrator finds that either the substance of your claim or the relief sought was frivolous or was brought for an improper purpose (as measured by the standards set forth in Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 11(b)), then the payment of all fees will be governed by the AAA Rules, and Margaritaville at Sea® will not reimburse your initial filing fee and may seek applicable fee-shifting. Arbitration may be conducted in person, through the submission of documents, by phone or online. Proceedings that cannot be conducted through the submission of documents, by phone or online, will take place in Palm Beach County, Florida; provided, however, that if circumstances prevent you from traveling to Palm Beach County, Florida, AAA may hold an in-person hearing in your hometown area. Margaritaville at Sea® and you agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the federal or state courts located in Palm Beach County, Florida to compel arbitration, to stay proceedings pending arbitration, or to confirm, modify, vacate, or enter judgment on the award entered by the arbitrator. The arbitrator may award damages to you individually as a court could, including declaratory or injunctive relief, but only to the extent required to satisfy your individual claim. The substantive law of Florida shall apply in the arbitration proceedings.

Except as provided above with respect to jurisdiction in Palm Beach County, Florida, nothing in this arbitration provision shall be construed as consent by Margaritaville at Sea® to the jurisdiction of any other court with regard to disputes, claims or controversies unrelated to this agreement.

This agreement to binding arbitration evidences a transaction in interstate commerce, and thus the Federal Arbitration Act, 9 U.S.C. §§ 1-16, governs its interpretation and enforcement. This agreement to binding arbitration will survive its termination. If any portion of this agreement to binding arbitration is deemed invalid or unenforceable, the remaining portions shall nevertheless remain in force.

This Pass Binding Arbitration Agreement and Class Action Waiver governs any dispute or claim relating to your Pass; to the extent there is a conflict between this Pass Binding Arbitration Agreement and Class Action Waiver and any dispute resolution provision of any other applicable terms, conditions or agreements, this Pass Binding Arbitration Agreement and Class Action Waiver governs.

Limitation on Time to File Claims

ANY CAUSE OF ACTION OR CLAIM YOU MAY HAVE ARISING OUT OF, RELATING TO, OR IN CONNECTION WITH THESE PARADISE PASS TERMS AND CONDITIONS MUST BE COMMENCED WITHIN ONE (1) YEAR AFTER THE CAUSE OF ACTION ACCRUES, OTHERWISE, SUCH CAUSE OF ACTION OR CLAIM IS PERMANENTLY BARRED.

MSC Announces Discounted Cruise Fares for Healthcare Workers

  • August 27, 2020

cruise for healthcare workers

MSC Cruises has announced that it is launching a special global discounted cruise fares program applicable to the end of 2021 for all front line and back office healthcare professionals globally as a way of saying “thank you” for their ongoing contribution to fight the global pandemic, according to a press release.

These special per cabin fares will result in a discount of up to or exceeding 50 percent off the regular rates and will be available to healthcare workers for booking from travel agents and MSC Cruises contact centers.

Pierfrancesco Vago, Executive Chairman, MSC Cruises, said: “As a family-owned company we think it’s only right and proper to find a way to express our heartfelt ‘thank you’ to each and every healthcare professional of the world – as well as their families – for their selfless and tireless dedication, professionalism and bravery in tackling the current global pandemic.

“And what better way to do that than on a cruise holiday together with their loved ones, who have also endured much to support them during the past months and continue to do so?

“We very much look forward to welcome them on board whenever they are ready for a much-deserved holiday. And we will also welcome their feedback to improve further our protocol as they will witness it first hand while onboard.”

The new discount program goes on sale on August 31 and will be available for all MSC Cruises sailings of any duration through to the end of 2021.

It extends to all cruises departing up to Dec. 31, 2021 and for bookings made by April 30, 2021.

Additionally, the program will include a series of on-board activities to properly recognise and celebrate these special guests and their families.

Bottom Line

I started my career as an emergency department registered nurse and understand how difficult and tiresome the work can be. Companies saying thank you to healthcare workers is honorable. I personally know how cumbersome nursing is, and just how hard our first responders work. Any discount is always welcome, and I especially welcome this 25% discount for a future vacation to say thank you to those who have provided so much to our communities. Thank you Princess Cruises!

CME Vacations

Plan your CME cruise for 2024

Continuing Medical Education (CME) cruises provide healthcare professionals with an excellent opportunity to combine learning and relaxation. These unique experiences offer a blend of educational seminars, networking opportunities, and exciting travel adventures. If you're considering attending CME cruises in 2024 , this article will guide you through the process of planning and maximizing your experience.

  • Research and Identify Relevant CME Cruises:

Start your planning process by researching and identifying CME cruises that align with your professional interests and educational needs. Numerous cruise lines and organizations offer CME programs, so consider factors such as the cruise duration, destinations, available CME credits, and the faculty conducting the sessions. Review the itineraries, conference schedules, and course topics to find the cruises that provide the most value to you.

  • Evaluate Accreditation and CME Requirements:

Ensure that the CME cruise you choose is accredited by a recognized medical education body. Accreditation ensures that the educational content meets specific quality standards and that the CME credits earned will be recognized by your licensing board or professional organization. Verify the number of credits offered and whether they cover the specific areas of expertise you require for your professional development.

  • Plan Ahead and Secure Your Spot:

CME cruises often have limited availability, so it's crucial to plan and book your spot well in advance. Once you have identified the cruise(s) that interest you, check the registration dates and make a note of when bookings open. Set a reminder and be prepared to book as soon as possible to secure your place and take advantage of early bird discounts or other promotional offers.

  • Consider Travel Logistics:

When planning your CME cruise, consider the logistical aspects of travel. Research the embarkation port and plan your transportation accordingly, whether it's by air, train, or car. Take note of any visa requirements or necessary travel documentation for the cruise destinations. If you're traveling from a distant location, factor in additional travel time to avoid any last-minute stress.

  • Accommodation and Amenities:

CME cruises typically offer a range of accommodation options onboard, from comfortable cabins to luxurious suites. Consider your budget, preferences, and the duration of the cruise when selecting your accommodations. Take into account any special amenities or facilities you may require during your journey, such as a spa, gym, or specific dining options.

  • Make the Most of Educational Opportunities:

CME cruises provide a unique opportunity to learn from leading experts while enjoying the onboard amenities and scenic destinations. Prioritize attending educational sessions and workshops that align with your professional goals. Engage with the faculty, ask questions, and participate actively in discussions. Take advantage of the opportunity to network with other healthcare professionals from diverse backgrounds and specialties.

  • Explore the Destinations:

One of the highlights of CME cruises is the chance to explore exciting destinations during shore excursions. Research the ports of call and plan your activities in advance to make the most of your time on land. Whether it's visiting historic landmarks, experiencing local culture, or indulging in outdoor adventures, plan activities that interest you and complement your overall cruise experience.

  • Budgeting and Financial Considerations:

Develop a comprehensive budget for your CME cruise to avoid any unexpected expenses. Consider the cruise fare, travel costs, accommodation, gratuities, onboard expenses, and additional activities or excursions. Explore any available discounts, group rates, or loyalty programs that can help you save on costs. Also, check if your employer or professional organization offers any financial assistance or reimbursement for CME activities.

Conclusion:

Planning your CME cruise in 2024 requires careful consideration of your educational needs, travel logistics, and personal preferences. By researching and selecting the right CME cruise, booking early, and organizing your travel arrangements, you can ensure a memorable and rewarding experience. Take advantage of the educational opportunities, network with professionals in your field, and explore the stunning destinations along the way. With proper planning and preparation, your CME cruise in 2024 will be a valuable blend of learning, relaxation, and adventure.

This Cruise Line Is Extending Its Heroes Sail Free Program Indefinitely — What That Means For Military, First Responders, Educators, And Nurses

cruise for healthcare workers

  • News and Tips
  • Travel News

The cruise line, which is part of the Margaritaville brand created by singer Jimmy Buffett, began inviting first responders on a free 3-day, 2-night cruise from the Port of Palm Beach in Florida to Freeport on Grand Bahama Island as what it called a “much-deserved microvacation” last month. Eligible personnel include both active-duty service members and veterans, police, fire, EMS personnel, and educators who are federal, state, or local government employees.

That program, called the Heroes Sail Free cruise program, is coordinated through a partnership with GovX.com, an online marketplace offering discounts on products, programs, and experiences exclusively for U.S. military service members, first responders, emergency medical professionals, and other state/federal employees.

“To show our sincere gratitude for their ongoing service, we wanted to offer these frontline heroes a chance to kick off their boots and work shoes and flip flop into a relaxing getaway,” Kevin Sheehan, Jr., president and CEO of Margaritaville at Sea, said in a statement . “We hope a little downtime to recover from the demands of their day-to-day responsibilities is just what they need.”

That program proved to be popular – enormously popular.

Heroes Sail Free’s Tremendous Popularity

“Within weeks of the launch, we were pleasantly surprised to see more than 30,000 Heroes and their guests rush to book their free cruise, but that filled nearly all available staterooms in the program through 2023,” Sheehan said in a recent statement .

As a way to continue saying thank you to first responders, Margaritaville at Sea recently expanded the program.

“Now we’re able to continue supporting our Heroes, which is more deserved than ever, by welcoming them to always sail for free when traveling with a paying guest,” Sheehan explained.

The program, which begins October 12, offers first responders a free cruise when they travel with a paying guest. The change ensures “all qualified U.S. military service members (active duty and veterans), police, fire, EMS personnel, nurses, and educators have the chance to enjoy one free cruise to the Bahamas per year aboard the Margaritaville at Sea Paradise ,” Margaritaville at Sea explains.

What’s more, also beginning October 12, Margaritaville at Sea will launch a fall promotion offering rates as low as $109 with a $50 cabin credit.

Aboard The Margaritaville Paradise

Margaritaville at Sea is a partnership between the owners of the former Bahamas Cruise Paradise Line and Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville. The ship, Margaritaville Paradise , which debuted last spring with Jimmy Buffett-themed offerings, is a makeover of what had formerly been Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line’s Grand Classica , according to the Orlando Sentinel .

The 658-cabin ship “features gourmet food and beverage options, including JWB Prime Steakhouse and the 5 o’Clock Somewhere Bar & Grill, along with pools, retail stores, a St. Somewhere Spa, Fins Up! Fitness Center, and other services and amenities,” Margaritaville at Sea explains. “The ship also offers on-board leisure activities and entertainment, including the Par-A-Dice casino and the Oasis Room, home to the Tales from Margaritaville: Jimmy’s Ship Show , written and produced by Jimmy Buffett and acclaimed producer Frank Marshall.”

How To Book A Cruise

If you’d like to book passage on a Heroes Sail Free cruise program, there are two important criteria:

  • First, of course, the offer is only extended to U.S. military service members (active duty and veterans), police, fire, EMS personnel, and educators who are federal, state, or local government employees.
  • Secondly, anyone planning to book also needs to have a GovX-issued ID, which is used to securely verify their military, first responder, or related eligibility status.

You can learn more about GovX and even create an account, if you are eligible, here .

Also, you’ll need to keep in mind that “Heroes-only” sailings will be added in the future, so you’ll need to visit the Margaritaville at Sea’s Heroes Sail Free webpage to learn when cruises are announced. You can also find all of the terms and exclusions on that page.
