Their follow-up album Lost in Translation is due to be released on June 23 via Universal Music,  and can be pre-ordered here.

“ We are so excited to play Australia because it feels like such a far away land to us. We’ve been practicing saying our “nourahs” and buying the highest SPF we can possibly find. We’re coming for ya AUS!!” said the band about their impending tour.

VALLEY Navigates Their Soundtrack Of Life With Their Latest Album And Tour

Valley Band Portrait

Emerging from the vibrant Toronto suburbs in 2014, the indie-pop band sensation VALLEY could have never fathomed the tremendous growth they would achieve as a band today.

With the release of EPs and singles, the talented band comprising Rob Laska, Mickey Brandolino, Alex Dimauro and Karah James made its mark on the music industry with its highly-celebrated debut album, MAYBE , in 2019. Fueled by coming-of-age themes and cinematic narratives of love and friendship, the band embarked on a musical journey that resonated deeply with fans worldwide. Now, four years later, VALLEY returns triumphantly with its latest creation, Lost In Translation , alongside an exhilarating new world tour spanning the continents of North America, Australia and Asia.

Valley Band Portrait

Since its inaugural “Get To Know” moment with Beyond The Stage four years ago, the band’s journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. Its musical odyssey has encompassed the release of three captivating EPs, performances at music festivals such as Governors Ball, headlining tours and sharing the stage with esteemed indie bands like COIN and The BAND CAMINO. Alongside these milestones, the band has also unleashed a multitude of sensational singles on various music platforms, solidifying its presence in the industry.

Yet, despite the surface success, the band emphasizes that t he best kind of growth to see was within each other.

“I think on a personal level, we’ve just done a lot of growing. It sounds really broad, but I think there’s been a lot of personal growth in the band and I think we’ve honed in on what we’re trying to bring to the table with what VALLEY is, sonically and emotionally,” frontman Rob Laska said. “I think our live shows have grown a lot too. We’ve put a lot of time into our live shows because that’s where we translate most of what VALLEY is. We’ve worked a lot on our songcraft and I think we’ve really tried to sharpen our pencils a lot with songwriting. We’ve done a lot of self-exploration, band exploration — we’ve done a lot of band therapy and personal therapy. It’s just been a lot of both artistic and personal growth.”

valley band australia tour

After dropping numerous EPs and singles, the band felt poised to release its long-awaited sophomore album. However, with the global pandemic disrupting life as we knew it, the members made a crucial decision to hold off on the album’s release, prioritizing the listeners’ experience.

“In the state of the world for the last couple years through the pandemic and everything, we were on the edge of releasing albums, but we didn’t want people’s experience with an album to be alone in their bedroom,” said Laska. “We wanted them to be able to go and live their life to our album and soundtrack their life. I think now this record is more about living and soundtracking your life now that the pandemic is over. People are really heavy on going to shows, traveling and doing all the things that they really wanna live, you know what I mean? I think this record is providing that and it’s just the right time.”

valley band australia tour

Having penned the first album during their late teens and early twenties, Lost In Translation now emerges in their mid-twenties, revealing the band’s remarkable sonic evolution as both individuals and a collective.

“It’s a different world, we’re different people but in a healthy way,” Laska said. “I think there are a lot of similarities that people start to kind of trickle in because it’s still the same people making the music, but nothing’s changed. We still pretty much produce everything, we write everything together, the process has never changed.”

The new album delves deep into the emotional journeys of all four members, as they grapple with their inner searchings and seek their rightful place in the world.

valley band australia tour

“I think there’s a song for every feeling that we’ve experienced in the last few years between records. I think every experience we’ve had, every relationship, everything we’ve been through — I think there’s a song, like a sliver of each feeling of where we’ve all been,” bassist Alex Dimauro said.

The title track was initially written for the sucks to see you doing better EP, and despite unsuccessful attempts to fit it into the previous EPs, it ultimately found its home as the essence of the entire album.

“I think what VALLEY does really well with is storytelling,” Laska said. I think the album is just a very beautiful short story of just our four lives of where we are right now, and that’s kind of in VALLEY forever.”

valley band australia tour

As the musical sound evolved and grew, so did the band’s audience. Globally, the band ventured across North America, Asia and Australia playing sold-out shows to tens of thousands of listeners. Among the enthusiastic crowds are devoted fans who know every song by heart and brand newcomers who are just discovering the music.

“It’s been nuts. At the beginning of the tour, people started filming the new songs, putting it online and stuff and now every show, there’s like fans that haven’t seen us live yet and they’re showing up and singing the new lyrics because they’ve watched the Youtube videos,” Dimauro said. “That’s a really cool feeling and it’s really cool to see the reception and the kind of snowball effect of the new songs live.”

Valley Band Portrait

And while VALLEY may be “lost in translation” across its album and tour, they’ve managed to find themselves on a path that only leads up.

“I love living in the world we are now musically,” Laska said. “There’s so many positives and it’s incredible that you can put a song online and literally your life could change. We’ve had that and it’s incredible.”

GRAMMY Award-winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, James Taylor announces 3 further concert dates on his 2024 Australian tour, An Evening with James Taylor and His All-Star Band, to meet ongoing demand for tickets.

Existing dates in Perth, Melbourne and Sydney have sold out, and these new shows are as follows: Kings Park & Botanic Garden Perth on April 13, Melbourne’s Margaret Court Arena on April 17, and ICC Sydney Theatre on April 24.

An Evening with James Taylor and His All-Star Band will also appear at A DAY ON THE GREEN on April 21 at Sirromet Wines Mount Cotton, followed by Bimbadgen Hunter Valley on April 27 and Centennial Vineyards Bowral on April 28.

As a recording and touring artist, JAMES TAYLOR has touched people with his warm baritone voice and distinctive style of guitar-playing for more than 50 years. His songs have had a profound influence on both songwriters and music lovers of all generations: Fire and Rain, Country Road, Sweet Baby James, Carolina In My Mind, and in 1971 he scored his first number one single with You’ve Got A Friend, written by Carole King, earning him his first Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal.

“The keyword for a James Taylor concert is ‘perfection’. James Taylor’s albums are often music masterpieces, but it is the live concert experience that makes the songs larger than life.” – Noise 11

“Not only in fine voice, Taylor is a consummate storyteller which drew the audience in and created a deeper connection to the songs.” – The West

“Attending a James Taylor concert is like having an old mate round for an evening, and he brings his guitar along, and he plays some of your favourite songs.” – Adelaide Advertiser

Over the course of his celebrated songwriting and performing career, Taylor has sold more than 100 million albums, earning gold, platinum and multi-platinum awards since the release of his self-titled debut album in 1968. In 2015, Taylor released Before This World, the first-ever #1 album of his illustrious career.

Taylor has won multiple GRAMMY Awards, has been inducted into both the Rock and Roll and the prestigious Songwriters Halls of Fame and in February 2006, The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences selected him its MUSICARES Person of the Year. Taylor was also awarded the distinguished Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters by the French government and the National Medal of Arts by President Barack Obama in 2012.

In November of 2015, Taylor was presented with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the Nation’s highest civilian honor and in December of 2016 he received the Kennedy Center Honors, which are presented annually to individuals who have enriched American culture by distinguished achievement in the performing arts. In early 2020 Taylor released Break Shot, a deeply personal and authentic audio-only memoir detailing his first 21 years.

He also released his newest album, American Standard, his 19th studio album, which earned Taylor the 2021 GRAMMY Award for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album and gave him the honor of being the first artist to have a Billboard Top 10 album in each of the past six decades.

February 2024 Australian Tour

WEDNESDAY 13 and his current band – which features former MURDERDOLLS alumni Roman Surman and Jack Tankersley – will be performing a full set of MURDERDOLLS songs, taken from the band’s celebrated 2002 debut album, ‘Beyond The Valley Of The Murderdolls’ and their triumphant 2010 return, ‘Women And Children Last’, which won them the Revolver Golden Gods Comeback Of The Year’ Award.

TOUR DATES

Friday, Feb 2: The Triffid, Brisbane Sat, Feb 3: The Metro, Sydney Sun, Feb 4: Max Watts, Melbourne Tues, Feb 6: Lion Arts Factory, Adelaide Wed, Feb 7: Rosemount Hotel, Perth

Amid a 2002 musical landscape full of baggy pants, backwards caps and tracksuit pants rose a metallic glam punk band that defied the prevailing trends and brought back hard and fast rock ’n roll. Murderdolls dug up the corpse of rock, defiled it and injected pure unadulterated undead life back into it. And it was glorious!

‘Beyond the Valley of the Murderdolls’ and its successor, ‘Women and Children Last‘ were like nothing else. Fast and dirty, raw and macabre. Drawing lyrical inspiration from classic horror, each tracks is full of tongue-in-cheek horror done to perfection. Led by horror-punk icon, Wednesday 13 and the late great Joey Jordison, Murderdolls slithered their way to the top of the horrendous heights of rock amassing a colossal cult-following along the way.

The sinister, sneering vocals, huge hooks, gang vocal choruses, pounding rhythms and some of the best riffs ever penned, the Murderdolls wrote songs for arenas and played them in theatres, making their adrenaline-fuelled odes to darkness that much more thrilling.

For the first time in well over a decade, Murderdolls’ frontman and songwriter, Wednesday 13, will resurrect his songs from the twisted depths of their dual album discography and unleash an unforgettable set when they descend on Australia, breathing fire into the raucous anthems that have defined an entire subculture.

“After 21 years since its release, and the recent sad and premature passing of Joey, it only feels right to go out and celebrate these songs. We made two amazing albums that I was very proud of, and unfortunately much of the world didn’t get a chance to hear the songs live. In 2018, we all got together at Joey’s house and discussed plans and possibilities for the future, but we both had other immediate plans, We will be performing tracks from both MURDERDOLLS albums on this upcoming tour and celebrating the legacy of the band.” – Wednesday 13

Australia concerts in 2024: here’s a list of shows and tours coming up

Big names confirmed for tours Down Under in 2024 include Coldplay, Pink, SZA, Hozier, Iron Maiden and more

Will Champion, Chris Martin and Guy Berryman of Coldplay performing in 2023, photo by Jordi Vidal/Redferns via Getty Images

Fresh out of a pandemic, Australia’s 2023 touring calendar was one of the busiest in recent memory, as artists of all stripes took centrestage everywhere from stadium shows to intimate local gigs. With a starry schedule that included the likes of Post Malone , Red Hot Chili Peppers , and Mötley Crüe , it’ll be tricky for 2024’s schedule to outdo its predecessor – and yet, thanks to the likes of Taylor Swift , Blink-182 and Pink , plus Coldplay, Pearl Jam and SZA later in the year, it’s poised to do just that.

From debut headline shows for breakout artists to bustling festival sideshow programs, there’s something for everyone to enjoy as a stellar batch of musicians make their way Down Under in 2024. Read on for NME’s roundup of all the biggest concerts and tours coming to Australia this year.

Here are the concerts and tours coming to Australia in 2024:

Pink When: February 9 – March 23 Find tickets and more info

Australia bloody loves Pink , and she’s apparently pretty fond of her “home away from home” too. In 2009, she played 58 shows here as part of her Funhouse tour, performing for some 660,000 fans. In 2013, when she announced an Australian tour in support of sixth studio album ‘The Truth About Love’, 320,000 tickets were snapped up within a few hours of them going on sale.

It makes sense, then, that the American singer-songwriter has a slew of dates booked for her return in February and March 2024 as part of her Summer Carnival world tour . She’ll be bringing songs from her ninth studio album ‘Trustfall’ to stadiums around the country, including stops in Sydney, Newcastle, Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.

She’ll be playing a total of four shows at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium and conclude the tour at Townsville’s Queensland Country Bank stadium.

US alt-rockers Wallows played some of their favourite shows ever on their previous tour of Australia – so they’ll undoubtedly be looking to top the experience when they return in December. They’ll kick things off in Perth, before heading to Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and finally Brisbane.

  • Depeche Mode

Aussie Depeche Mode fans are an incredibly patient bunch. The last time the British synth-pop titans toured the country was in 1994, meaning nearly three decades have passed since they last paid us a visit. But good things come to those who wait, and it seems there is a glimmer of hope for those hoping to catch the band Down Under.

  • READ MORE: Depeche Mode: every single album ranked and rated

In March 2023, Depeche Mode’s Dave Gahan told an Italian blog that the band were eyeing “as-yet-unannounced dates in Asia and Australia” as part of a touring run that would lead into 2024. The band have toured the world in support of their latest album, ‘Memento Mori’ , and a trip to Australia to cap off the jaunt seems more likely than ever.

Hints and tips for improving your chances of getting The Chicks tickets

Make sure you have a my ticketmaster account.

Get the basics covered before tickets go on sale by logging in and checking your Ticketmaster account ahead of time. If you don’t have a Ticketmaster Account then make sure you sign up in advance –  Ticketmaster.com.au .

Sign into your My Ticketmaster account ahead of time

Remember to triple check your passwords, account information, and billing information are all filled in correctly in advance, that way you’re not facing any last-minute account updates when trying to process your order.

Keep your options open with ‘Best Available’

Save time by searching “Best Available,” which scans all sections fast – it’s quicker than searching sections one at a time.

Keep an eye on the clock

There will be a time limit applied to all transactions as you are progressed through the ticket purchasing stages. Remember to keep an eye on the timer on your screen and move through the processing pages as quickly as possible (this is even easier when you’ve completed the account set-up stage we mentioned above).

Don’t refresh your screen

Stick to one window while you’re in the  Waiting Room  and when you’re being pushed through  the Smart Queue  and always resist the urge to refresh.

Hitting the refresh button means you’ll lose your place in the queue and, as frustrating as it can get, patience is the only way to win this game. Ticketmaster is equipped with sophisticated systems that are designed to manage and process ticket purchases as quickly as possible. The queuing system that appears on your screen will place you at the front of the line as soon as possible.

Remember: there are a lot of fans

We’re expecting this to be a very popular event. When a popular event goes on sale there are hundreds, and sometimes thousands, of customers all attempting to purchase tickets at the same time. Tickets are sold as long as seats are available, and when an act is this popular, sometimes they go very quickly.

Be sure to follow the above tips to ensure you have the best chance of snapping up some tickets.

Dirty Three announce new album and Australian tour

three members of band dirty three in jackets sit in a dark backstage area. warren ellis has arms aloft and holds peace signs

  • X (formerly Twitter)

Acclaimed Australian instrumental trio Dirty Three will soon release their first album in over a decade, with their ninth LP Love Changes Everything due for release on Friday 14 June.

They'll then take their unique, dynamic and always powerful live show on the road for a 10-date tour of the country taking in some big rooms and beautiful theatres.

The news comes after the band were locked in as a major drawcard on this year's RISING festival announcement, where they'll play Melbourne's majestic Hamer Hall across two nights.

These shows, which kick off their tour, will be Dirty Three's first shows in five years, and first Melbourne shows in 12 years.

The band's new album features six new tracks, titled 'Love Changes Everything I' through 'Love Changes Everything VI', and is said to capture the band at their regular, spellbinding best.

While you can grab a physical copy of the album on Friday 14 June, fans will have to wait an extra fortnight if they just want to listen online as its digital release is not until Friday 28 June, when the Australian tour will just about be over.

Bandleader and violinist/violist Warren Ellis commented on the new record in typically straightforward fashion.

"Recorded in five days. Mixed in a year. Nothing has changed. Older and meaner, sadder, and totally dangerous. Dirty Three are 32 years old. Come blow out the candles and help us stick a knife in the cake."

Ellis, guitarist Mick Turner and drummer Jim White might not have been a constant presence in our lives over the past three decades, but every time they emerge from their moments of quiet, they remind us what a singular, deeply emotional musical force they are combined.

Catch Dirty Three playing the following shows. Tickets are on sale Thursday 4 April.

Friday 14 June – RISING @ Hamer Hall, Melbourne

Saturday 15 June – RISING @ Hamer Hall, Melbourne

Tuesday 18 June – Canberra Theatre

Wednesday 19 June – Anita's Theatre, Thirroul

Thursday 20 June – Enmore Theatre, Sydney

Saturday 22 June – Fremantle Passenger Terminal

Monday 24 June – Hindley St Music Hall, Adelaide

Wednesday 26 June – Odeon Theatre, Hobart
